Campground
“The best 5 km + walk or run in town. Walk or drive over to the Connaught Whisky Distillery and park your car there. It’s a straight walk there and back and that’s over 5K but if your up for a challenge follow the signs in the woods for the different trails on the way. ”

“A mystical forest walk with old ruins. There are hidden graves and ruins in this forest that are believed to be the resting places for the old king and Queen of Connaught. Also believed to be the hill of the Fairies, this place is older than New grange and completely untouched. ”

“This is a wilderness area set aside under EU regulations with a long term plan to re-wild the area to encourage native flora and fauna to thrive. The pine marten is already flourishing in the area. ”

Surf Spot
“Mulranny Beach (Blue Flag) Drive: 40 minutes Pros: You can drive to and park there directly, but we prefer to park at Mulranny Park Hotel, cross the road and walk down several flights of steps and across a cause-way to reach both beach and pier – beautiful for a short walk and to take in the stunning views towards Croagh Patrick. Cons: if looking for a swim – the beach may be gone at high tide. (MUCH more beautiful than the pic suggests!) ”
