Just booked in Culbokie

The Pavilion is a Luxurious Self Catered Wing of Foulis Castle just out of Evanton near the ancient burgh of Dingwall. The Pavilion is positioned within beautiful landscaped gardens overlooking the Cromarty Firth. Foulis Castle is a 15 min walk away from the Storehouse of Foulis Restaurant & Farm shop, which is situated on the shore of the Cromarty Firth.
The Pavilion is located on the South/West wall of the Foulis Castle Courtyard and is a Private Luxury Self Catered home away from home in the Scottish Highlands. It is a tranquil, quiet sanctuary to rebalance mind, body and soul. The Pavilion front door opens onto the Foulis Castle private drive, parking and beautifully landscaped gardens & ponds. The kitchen area over looks the Castle courtyard and Foulis Castle gardens and has all modern facilities with a table seating 4-6. The Dining Room table seats 6-8, with views over the Castle Courtyard gardens. The Pavilion's Drawing room is a remnant Tower Room of the ancient Foulis Castle which dates from the mid 15th century. It has 3 large sofas with a 38" flat screen Smart TV with broadband internet connection & Sky TV Cinema. The Pavilion has central heating which is provided by a biomass heating system, so the apartment is warm throughout. The Pavilion also contains luxurious 63 oz woollen carpets. There is a toilet beside the front door and 2 ensuite bathrooms. The towels and linen on the beds are all new with duvets or blankets. All bedrooms have orthopaedic memory foam mattresses. The master bedroom has a king size wooden bed and the second bedroom comes with two singles which can zip together creating a super king size bed, there is also plenty of hanging space for clothes. Foulis Castle has guided tours which are held on Tuesdays at 10.30am, there is no charge for the tour but donations to the Foulis Castle Trust are welcome. The Pavilion has it's own internet router with unlimited Broadband and WiFi.
Dingwall formerly served as the county town of the county of Ross and Cromarty, it lies near the head of the Cromarty Firth. In the early Middle Ages Dingwall was reputed to have the largest castle north of Stirling. King Macbeth from Shakespeare's Macbeth was born in Dingwall c1005. There are very good golf course's, lovely beaches, walks and other country pursuits. Guests are free to enjoy and walk on the 2650 acre Foulis Estate, with its native wildlife, and the property is ideally situated to take advantage of the surrounding attractions. For stalking Deer Foulis Estates, golf lovers the small town of Dornoch and its Championship Golf Course is within an hours drive, for whisky lovers there are many Distilleries in the locality to visit, Dalmore at Invergordon or Glenmorangie at Tain, to name just two. For shoppers the small towns of Dornoch, Dingwall and Strathpeffer, with it’s historic pavilion are always worth a visit. For walkers why not take a walk up to the Fyrish Monument, reputedly an imitation of the gates of Negapataum in India. The views from the top are quite amazing, with views of the Cromarty Firth, Ben Wyvis, the Affric, and on a clear day further afield to the Cairngorms.

  • A very nice place to stay and enjoy, full of history. We met Emma's husband when we arrived. He gave us quite a lot of good suggestions. Make sure you walk around the castle and go to the tree gate. Stunning view there. Hope I can stay there for several days when I have another chance to visit. 性价比高,非常美丽的庄园。值得一去。

The Tractor Shed is a newly renovated 1860's steading on a working croft on the Black Isle. Close to nature, scenery, Inverness, NC500 & distilleries. A cosy and quirky place to stay. Great for couples, small family groups or solo adventurers.
A cosy and modern place to stay, right in the centre of all the daily goings on of the croft. The house is in the main farm yard. There are two bedrooms, one double bed on the mezzanine level up the spiral stairs and a small double bedroom down the stairs. There is a spacious wet room and open plan kitchen/dining and living area with a well equipped kitchen. There is also a wood burning stove with a plentiful supply of firewood.
A cosy house situated on a working croft, experience authentic Highland life! Beautiful views over Ben Wyvis, close to the Moray and Cromarty Firths (great for dolphin watching!), lovely forest walks and very close to the NC500 route. Loch Ness just 30 minutes away and just 15 minutes from the centre of Inverness and 35 minutes from the nearest airport. Lots of distilleries within just a short drive. Longer day trips to the West Coast are not impossible. Quiet and rural yet central and a great base for a Highland holiday.
  • We absolutely enjoyed our stay at Louise's place! Very nicely furnished and decorated. Did not have any issue finding the place as the instructions from Louise was very clear! We love the warm cozy feeling of the house, and really glad to have a well equipped kitchen for some home cooked meals. Highly recommend a stay at this lovely place!

  • Looking for a quiet spot in the Highlands? This is it! Louise and her family have a wonderful place. It was a home away from home for us. She has thought about the most minute details. Keep in mind, it's rural but Inverness is only 15 minutes away and there's plenty of towns/villages in the Black Isle with amenities. All within a short distance.

    Rachel2017-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at the Tractor Shed was everything we hoped - beautiful surroundings, gorgeous decor and fabulous hosts. The accommodation has everything you could need for a short or long stay. It's a 15 minute walk into the village to the local pub and shop, 15 minute drive to another excellent pub, and only 20 minutes drive to Inverness. The Black Isle is stunning and the tractor shed is in a great location to explore this amazing area of Scotland.

    Alicia2017-06-11T00:00:00Z
  • What a fabulous few days we've had! The Tractor Shed is an ideal location to explore the highlands from, with local amenities walking distance or 5 minute drive. The tractor shed itself is superb, beautifully presented, sparkling clean and an extra special touch of fruit, delicious eggs and bacon ready to make for your first brekkie. We had lovely cosy nights with the log burner on and a great sleep in the comfy beds. Louise was very helpful and cheerful, giving us some good local tips, we will be back!

  • The "Tractor Shed" is a wonderful and cozy place to spend the holidays while exploring Scotland. Louise and her family are helpful und very nice, the "noise" of the farm is not disturbing at all! The house especially the kitchen- is very well equipped and decorated by Louise - it's like coming home every evening. Thanks for having a wonderful time at your place - we will come again!

    Stefanie2017-05-12T00:00:00Z
  • This is definitely a one-off place to stay in northern Scotland - a great central location with all the modern comforts of home. Everything has been well thought out and there is no stinting on small luxuries - it is beautifully furnished including modern sofas, a wood burner and incredibly comfy beds - home from home. The kitchen is brand new and has everything you need, even including breakfast of cereal, fresh eggs, bacon and bread. Louise is very friendly and welcoming, and has great suggestions for local activities including walks and places to eat. Highly recommended!

Breakfast is do it yourself, which suited us very well, and we also cooked dinner there--although there is also a great restaurant within walking distance. Highly recommended!

  • Lovely cosy place to stay when visiting the Black Isle and surrounding areas. Cottage is very spacious, well equipped (even had the holy grail - olive oil!), clean, warm, and really nicely decorated. The hosts are not far away if you need info/help and very responsive to messages before the stay. All around great trip and would really recommend the place.

  • The welcome was very warm. Cass is a kind and considerate host. The cottage was well equipped. It a little bit far from the center of Inverness but it doesn't matter if you have ayoi car. We enjoyed our stay .

Private location with stunning views located close to A9 in small village convenient to Inverness and Dingwall. Good hill walking close to woodland walks. A vegetarian/vegan only household and can cater for gluten problems given advance notice. A continental style breakfast is offered. The 100 year old house is modernised but does have its own creaks. Buddy the sheep dog loves to greet his guests with his ball hoping for a throw, he is friendly and doesn't bark. l
    Quiet pretty location.
Based in the Black Isle with coastal shores, small villages, museums. Good hill walking and forest walks.
  • My family and I had a lovely time staying at Anne's place. Anne went out of her way to give us advice on where to travel and what to do on our stay. Anne has a sweet dog who will get you to play fetch and also has a beautiful view of the surrounding countryside which is nice to wake up to. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

    Shivaun Mary2017-08-03T00:00:00Z
  • Annes place is magical. Very warm and comfortable. Beautiful and well behaved dog Buddy to play fetch and pet. Gorgeous ponies in the paddock and lovely views from the lounge and downstairs bedroom. Highly reccommend. We had a car-probably a must for the location.

    Sara2017-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely cottage with amazing views of the sea and green environment. The village of Culbokie has a nice pub for dinner. The room and bath were very clean and tidy and the views to the sea fantastic. Anne has been very friendly and helpful during our stay, giving us many recommendations of places to visit in the Highlands. The location is ideal for visiting the Black Isle and the Scottish Highlands!!!

    David2015-08-03T00:00:00Z
  • I stayed in Anne's country cottage for a week, and it was a great experience. Anne and her daughter were both very welcoming, kind and accommodating. They included me in a couple walks they went on, which was very nice, and Anne lent me a bike to explore the Black Isle - if you're up to the biking challenge, I would recommend biking to Cromarty, which is where I went. It's an adorable little town. The room was spacious, bed comfortable, shower and house were very warm. Breakfast was good. The town of Culbokie is very small and there's not much to do, so if you don't enjoy walking or biking I would recommend having a car if you're staying at Anne's for longer than a day or two. However I didn't have one, and still had a great experience. I would definitely recommend staying here!!! Anne and Kate were so kind, friendly and helpful and I really enjoyed my stay.

    Meghan2016-05-25T00:00:00Z
  • I had the most amazing time at Anne's. I stayed for a month and couldn't have asked for a better experience - the location is absolutely stunning with tranquil views, and as an animal lover I adored seeing the dog, horses and ponies around everyday. Anne and her family are absolutely lovely and had lots of suggestions that made my stay brilliant. Thank you!

    Elke2016-09-30T00:00:00Z
  • We had really warm and comfortable stay in Anne's beautiful house. Thanks Anne and your lovely daughter!

    Hua2015-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • Anne is a very thoughtful host. We found birthday cards and chocolate waiting for us on arrival! She was brilliant at keeping in touch and gave us excellent directions to find her house. She knew all sorts of local information and gave us some great pointers for our journey ahead :)

    Nathalie2015-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • Anne was an incredible host. From the very beginning she went above and beyond to make me feel welcomed in her home. Her and her daughter are lovely people who really care about their guests' experience during their stay, and in the Highlands. I enjoyed it so much, I was sad to leave. I look forward to going back and to continuing what will hopefully be a long time connection. I highly recommend staying at Anne's place.

We are on the Black Isle, 10m from Inverness, on the NC500 route. A great place to base yourselves. We have 2 white hypoallergenic non smelling/ non shedding labradoodle dogs who are very friendly and you can join them in the large garden to play if you feel like it! You have your own bathroom upstairs, your room is downstairs and can come and go as you please. We are happy to help with anything and have excellent knowledge of the surrounding areas. - eateries, local spots,etc... Just ask!
A clean, spacious light and airy room in an old traditional Scottish Farmhouse which now serves as our family home. In your room we provide tea, coffee, water, fruit and breakfast snacks for your convenience. The room has gorgeous views over the Cromarty Firth and Ben Wyvis.
Gorgeous surroundings, beautiful views and great people. The Black Isle has lots of history, beaches, walks and woods. There's plenty to entertain you or just sit back and relax. We are right in the middle of ‘Outlander’ scenery. An hour from the West Coast, close to lots of Castles with plenty to do.
  • Nice and good country side house..

  • Fantastic place to stopover while exploring the Isle of Black. Jacqueline was most helpful with tit bits on interesting things to do... had an amazing time.

    Sundeep2017-10-11T00:00:00Z
  • We loved staying at Jacqueline & Stephen's place, it is how the air bnb experience should be! The room is quiet, clean, great bathroom (not in the room but sole use and great shower!) and fabulous views. We had dinner in Dingwall at a small Thai cafe which was great. Jacqueline and Stephen were great hosts, good company, we thoroughly recommend their place and would stay there again without hesitation! And they have 2 lovely and friendly labradoodles.

    Annabelle 2017-08-16T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay was just wonderful. Jacqueline is the kindest person. She gave us good advices to visit the region. And the dogs are very friendly! The house is very luminous. The bedroom is big enough and the bed very confortable. The garden is lovely to enjoy when there is sun. The location is also very convenient : next to the road, 1 hour drive from cairngorms and Glen Affric, close enough to Inverness but far enough to enjoy a beautiful outside view.

    Anne-France2017-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely room in an old house with lots of character. Jaqueline and Stephen were great hosts, very friendly and helpful! Their two dogs were adorable and well behaved. Located in a quiet neighbourhood, which suited us perfectly, but you would definitely need a car. Great location for visiting the Black Isle. Absolutely recommended!

    Ramona2017-09-05T00:00:00Z
  • We absolutely loved staying at Jacqueline’s place! The room/view was beautiful the photos don’t do it justice. Everything was so clean and the bed was as comfortable/cozy as being at home. Jacqueline was lovely and helped us out a lot with recommendations/directions and was always warm and welcoming. Couldn’t have had a better stay would definitely recommend! :)

  • Spent one night in this lovely home and everything was fab! Jacqueline and steve were both laid back yet extremely helpful! The room and bathroom weren't just "hotel clean" but "MUM clean"!! The dogs are both absolute characters, and you can't beat the view. Great location as it's only half an hour to Drumnadrochit and about 20 mins to Inverness. Will definitely be returning next time we're in the area!

This is a rural location but only 1 mile from the local village of Culbokie where there is a shop/post office and a pub. The view across to the magnificent Ben Wyvis is spectacular. There are horses in the paddock and a pond you can walk to which has duck's nesting and often there is a Red Kite flying around. We have a workshop and manufacture furniture from local timber. Some of our furniture is in the house.
  • Valerie and Will are lovely people. They made us feel right at home. We had our own bathroom, but it was down the hall. Room was clean and bed was comfortable. If you want to eat at Culbokie Inn you have to make a reservation. We did not so we were turned away. Drove to Dingwall a few miles away and had a wonderful meal at the Mallard, a local pub. Once you arrive in Culbokie as you drive past Culbokie Inn you will come to a school with a playground and the road alongside the playground is where you turn (only one way to turn) and drive to a sign that says "Farmhouse Furniture" and that is the road to their home. A bit tricky when we first arrived in the pouring rain to find it. All-in-all, we had a very nice stay.

    Susan2017-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • A really helpful and understanding host, thank you Valerie.

  • Val and her husband were really nice! The room was perfect, the bed was extra comfortable (handcrafted by Val's husband) They were welcoming and really nice, we had a great morning chat with them after having a delicious fresh breakfast made by Val. A very very pleasant stay!

    Alicia2017-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • Wow! Valerie and her husband Will are amazing hosts. The room was very clean and well heated. My sister and I had a fantastic time enjoying the scenery from their home each morning while eating a delicious homemade traditional Scottish breakfast. Valerie and Will were endlessly resourceful in their travel advice (they gave us good hiking suggestions, and even a detailed road map! ) and suggestions on where to eat or grab a drink. We had a great time here, and already miss both the dogs and horses!

  • We had a wonderful stay with martin (Jodie was unfortunately away on holiday). He made us feel so welcome from the moment we arrived and made sure we were well taken care of throughout our three-day stay. The space was great--very comfortable and spacious for two of us and because it is in a fairly remote area, it has a retreat like feel with the beautiful gardens. Sitting outside on the front lawn with a glass of wine, sharing a laugh with martin, with his two sweet dogs, watching the sun go down behind the mountains was very special. We would go back in a heartbeat. We were just sorry to have missed Jodie!

    Beth2015-07-02T00:00:00Z
  • Jodie and Martin's countryside bed and breakfast was beautiful! We thoroughly enjoyed the peaceful setting and stunning landscapes. The room was clean and comfortable and they provided a lovely breakfast. We can't thank Martin enough for being so friendly and helpful! We hope to return one day and hopefully meet Jodie that time around!

    Nancy2017-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely room in such a peaceful location. Jodie and Martins communication was great leading up to the visit and during our stay. The wee kitchen area was great and a good selection of teas with nice large mugs! We didn't quite manage to master the toaster without setting off the smoke alarm much to the amusement of the cows in the field opposite!! Thanks for a great stay :)

    Shona2015-07-19T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed for 4 nights at Jodie`s and Martin`s En suite Guest room and everything was very, very comfortable, clean and nice. Jodie and Martin are very nice hosts and also their dogs are very cuty, friendly and pleasant. There is a wee fridge, where you have toast, jam, milk, orange juice and beside that cereals/cornflakes, tea, coffee. which you can eat whenever you want. You can sit outside, when the weather is fitting. You have good connection with Wi-Fi. It`s only a 15- 20 min. drive to Inverness. To Ullapool you are within 45 min. till 1 hour. To the Isle of Sky within 2hours and 15 min. in average. It´s a perfect place to start to explore the Nortwestern Highlands (which are in my opinion, one of the most beautiful places of the UK and in the world). We will come back!

    Tim2016-05-21T00:00:00Z
  • Very nice people and very nice house. Beautiful views surrounds the place. Tha garden blossom is amazing.

  • We had a great time at Jodie and Martin's place! Jodie gave us a warm welcome and was very caring. The place is quiet, clean, tidy and cozy, we had a great rest and great breakfast. There is a lovely pub that serves delicious food nearby and the place is not far from the A9 but far enough to have an absolutely quiet stay in the countryside.

    Véronique2016-06-05T00:00:00Z
  • The place was more than beautiful, in a peaceful area with forest surrounding. The room has private bathroom and a area you can have your breakfast. Everything was very clean and organized. Inside the room there are informational booklets and a welcome letter with some tips exploring the area. If we will return to Scotland any time this place will be the first choice. We strongly recommend having this experience! Thank you Jodie and Martin for creating such a warm place. Dimitris and Gianna from Greece.

  • June was a wonderful generous host. Her B&B is a quiet peaceful retreat with outstanding views.

  • My stay at June's was delightful. Warm, comfortable and so welcoming.

  • Flowers Garden Heaven, peaceful and relaxing. Everything a vacation could offer, not far from the beaten track, just far enough. A wonderful stop on the way to or from the far reaches of Scotland!

  • Staying at June's is a very good experience, although we took a while getting to her house where we enjoyed a beautiful view over the ocean. June is very nice, helpful. The traditional British breakfast plus all the lovely utensils she used made our morning time a great pleasure. She recommended dinner places and even helped us make reservation. We will surely come back whenever there is a chance.

  • Lovely small BnB in a quiet and scenic area of Scotland. June was lovely and couldn't have done more for us.. this included providing a large hearty full English breakfast which was cooked to perfection!

  • Had a lovely stay in the countryside with June. She's a wonderful hostess and cook.

  • Considering that we are on the Black Isle, where the adresses don´t have numbers, but only names, we found June and Chic´s lovely lovely place, with a little detour, meaning we had to have help from a sweet local lady who showed us the way to "Braigha" B&B. We were warmly welcomed by June at the road and shown down to the house which lies about 300 meters down a road toward the loch. The view from their blooming Garden is amazing with mountains in the background. June showed us around and to our room which was fine, and spacious, and also recommended a Seafood place and the Inn in Cromarty, as we got in very late. The Inn in Cromarty was fantastic, and is highly recommendable foodwise and try the local Beer "Happy Chappy"....very good! In the morning after a good nights sleep, although a bit chilly in the room, we were served "the Full Scottish Breakfast" which we were asked of course if wanted the night before, and how much. It was a delightful breakfast where June told us a lot about local history and life in general, and we tried her prizewinning Lemon Curd which was amazing! As the sun was out we were shown around June and Chic´s garden and our stay ended with a lot of laughing and a really good feeling!

  • We stayed with June on 18th and 19th of May. Stay with June and Chic was the most memorable part of our trip. If someone needs to soak in true Scotish Hospitality then June is the one for you. We had done our booking at the last minute and reached Dingwall around 11pm. June was in contant touch with us and while we lost our way, she came all the way to where we were stuck and guided us back to her beautiful home. That was almost near to midnight. After driving from Edinburgh and getting stuck in a traffic jam at Inverness we were dead tired. But a warm and cosy Ambience of her home along with immaculately clean room with beautiful bedsheets and clean toilets made us forget our journey fatigue. We were carrying packaged Indian food that she warmed for us. Gave us enough plates to have our meal at peace. Next morning was almost like waking upto paradise. What we see in the pictures does not even give even 10% of the idea of the beauty around. With such a beautiful view to die for, loverly garden and accessibility of all good places around, this beautiful home was a perfect base camp for us. June had cooked a lavish Scottish breakfast for us and we had a Great time chatting with her over two days. My 6 year old daughter had a great time with June and she still remembers her. I would highly recommend June's B&B and I am sure none will ever be disappointed. June is soon going to celebrate her 70th birthday in August. However her energy and enthusiasm make me feel that it's going to be her 40th B'day. Thanks for making our stay so wonderful. Would definitely come back to stay with you soon.

  • I can't say enough about our wonderful stay with Brian and his wife! We had just traveled 20 hrs from New York and were exhausted upon our arrival. Brian immediately made us a cup of tea and brought us delicious cake. Then we were off to bed in a very luxurious and comfortable bed. Their home is a few miles outside of Inverness so it was also perfectly quiet. The next morning welcomed us with a fabulous Scottish breakfast--the best we had in Scotland entirely. Brian was also very generous and knowledgeable with recommendations--we subsequently went to scenic Ullapool and Skye based on his advice. Thank you so much, Brian.

  • Lovely welcome, offered tea/ coffee on a arrival.

    Carol2016-07-10T00:00:00Z
  • Best stay ever! Honestly, my husband and I have stayed in Airbnb's all over the world. But the Roost has been our favorite! The scenery is mind blowing! We got to The Roost and were treated by Brian and his lovely wife, with tea and coffee and wonderful muffins! The entire place was clean and felt inviting. The bed was so comfortable! The hosts have us fantastic directions to nearby eats and tourist attractions. If you weren't planning on visiting Scotland, I'd say go for it, if for no other reason than to enjoy this beautiful Airbnb. My husband and I were so impressed. We will defiantly return!

    Amber2017-05-28T00:00:00Z
  • Brian and Eve were very welcoming and their place is wonderful, with views over the fields and their cattle grazing nearby. If you want somewhere just a 5 minute stroll from the village pub, this is not the place for you, but if you want peace and quiet in a rural setting it would be hard to beat the Roost. The pub in the village a couple of miles away is wonderful and serves great food. Note that to get to the roost you will need to drive several miles on two way single lane roads, but that is a fact of life in rural Scotland.

    Graham2016-06-03T00:00:00Z
  • If you are looking for a peaceful stay in a gorgeous place, this is the place for you. Brian's house is set against a beautiful backdrop with farms and rolling hills surrounding it. It's the perfect escape from the bigger cities and touristy towns. Him and his wife are so helpful and accommodating; they make you feel right at home. My husband and I are so glad we got to enjoy this spot even if only for a night!

    Kelsey 2017-07-09T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely nights stay at The Roost. We got a very warm welcome complete with cake and a cup of tea. Brian and Eve were very helpful in giving us advice on where to go for dinner and where to explore the next day, complete with excellent directions! The room was very homely, comfy and clean and breakfast was lovely. We would love to return and explore the area more.

    Lilith2016-08-10T00:00:00Z
  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Roost while attending a party in Inverness. We were made very welcome, our room was spotless, the amenities perfect and the breakfast delicious. We would recommend the Roost to any visitors to the Black Isle.

This 6 berth caravan, has three bedrooms, one double and two twins. The caravans have ramp access up to a large decked veranda, with washing machine facilities on site.
In a very central location only 3 miles from main A9 road. Ideal for sightseeing in the Highlands.
  • I was with my son and his friend visiting Inverness and then Brora and this was an ideal location for both. However you really need a car or bike bike as is is a wee bit outside munlochy village. The caravan is very clean and comfortable and an ideal base. We arrived late in the Saturday but this was not a problem as Audrey had left everything ready for us to walk into

    Sandra2016-09-26T00:00:00Z
  • The host was very friendly. The scenery around the caravan was lovely. The place was very clean and had enough space for five people to stay. Also Audrey's two dogs very very friendly and we enjoyed playing with them.

  • Excellent location and a wonderful experience. My girls were super happy. Those with limited threshold for wind should come geared up as the caravan is in a valley and it gets very cold.

  • Lovely place for a peaceful stay in the middle of highlands. Audrey is lovely hosts I would highly recommend. Thanks

  • Audrey's place was ideal for us, as we were able to visit different places in the area. We were 4 adults staying in the caravan and we were very comfortable at all times. Audrey was extremely accommodating and we can't recommend her place enough!

    María2017-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our time here. The owner was great and very communicative. Good value for what you pay and very beautiful and quiet place to stay!

  • Audrey was very welcoming and friendly. Her caravan location, which is right next to her beautiful house is in the midst of a lot of greenery. The interiors of the caravan is very beautifully decorated and well made. A great use of good space. The place is not too far away from Inverness and is close to a few good attractions. A highly recommended place for family/couples looking either a good relaxed time in the country side, enjoying nature or for exploring the unseen rural of scotland.

Situated in quiet farmlands only 20 minutes' drive outside of Inverness, the cabin has everything you could possibly need, including comfortable beds and couches, a TV, stove, oven, washing machine, etc. The cabin was clean and tidy upon our arrival, and the host available close-by should any issues arise. The views at Mountgerald are second to none. The traditional Highland Cattle that live here from April until November will give you a welcome reminder of exactly where you are in the world.
  • What an excellent stay we had here. The cottage is situated om top of a hill near Dingwall with superb views of the beautiful area. The cottage itself (we had the Walnut Cottage) had everything you need with even three bathrooms, a terrace and a balcony. Ken and his family were extremely nice and helpful with tips for things to do. Would highly recommend this place!

  • This cottage was a highlight of our trip. Comfy, cozy, and in pristine condition. Highland coos in the field and loads of good food and fun nearby.

    Anne2014-06-26T00:00:00Z
  • We spent three nights at the cottage, which was a wonderful and welcoming home away from home. The cottage was exactly as described, if not better, and was warm and cosy - a relief, given the cold Scottish winter weather! Everything was clean and tidy and in good working order, and the kitchen was so wonderfully stocked with pots and pans that we decided to cook on two out of the three nights! All in all we had a lovely stay, and would have wished to stay longer. Next time!

    Sinead2016-01-06T00:00:00Z
  • We thoroughly enjoyed our family break at Walnut Cottage. Amazing value for money and we highly recommend it. The cottage itself was extremely comfortable, spacious with top end fixtures and fittings. Our welcome hamper set us up with provisions and a very nice touch. Enjoyed the board games too! The farm cottages are conveniently located for day trips to Ullapool, Cromarty, Carrbridge and Inverness. Fantastic views over the Cromarty Firth. We'll certainly be back when next in the UK!

  • Stayed here for 4 nights in July and it was very nice. The appartement was clean, a nice welcome-basket with wine, jam and snacks waited in the kitchen. Beautiful view and a perfect startpoint for daytrips in the Highlands. Also close to Dingwall for shopping groceries etc. Travelled with two kids, 4 and 6 years old, and they also had a nice stay.

The Sheriffs Lodge has been converted into a perfect holiday let apartment, retaining its character while offering all modern comforts. The lounge-diner has a flat screen tv & dvd player with a selection of dvd's. The main bedroom has a comfy double bed. The 2nd bedroom has two single beds. A modern kitchen is fully equipped with an electric oven and hob, a microwave, fridge, washing machine & dishwasher. A separate toilet & shower room makes getting everyone out the door that little bit easier.
Dingwall, said to be the Viking capital of Scotland and home to the real Macbeth, has much to offer. Protected by mountains we enjoy a warmer, dryer climate than most of Scotland and the mountains also provide gorgeous scenery. A common sight in winter is sun, snow and a rainbow all rolled into one breath-taking view. Built in the 1840's and designed by Thomas Brown II, the Court has heard many cases in a long colourful history and retained its original use until 2015 when its doors were closed. Empty for 18 months, we were delighted to finally find our dream home in these old walls. After six years holiday letting experience in South East England, we know what visitors want and expect from a welcoming holiday home, and we think you will agree this lovely building offers it all. Having first visited Scotland for a holiday in 2012 we were captivated by its beauty and its friendly people. It has taken us five years - but we can finally call this beautiful part of the world our home. Come and see what made us fall in love with it. ❤️
The Sheriffs Lodge is perfectly situated within easy walking distance of the town centre, the canal, the beautiful open countryside and stunning views of the Cromarty Firth. With the station just next door (only quiet, slow trains come into Dingwall) you really can enjoy all the Scottish Highlands have to offer – especially a dream for walkers.
  • The lodge was very clean and tidy and it respected the description we had. It was a very confortable house and our 1 year-old daughter adopted it very quickly, she loved it. The house is pretty well located: Dingwall is closed to lots of things we wanted to do in Scotland. Elise and Tony were available and easy to contact when needed.

    Laureline2017-08-07T00:00:00Z
  • The Sheriffs lodge is in a gorgeous Location, close by to the high street and station and still in a very scenic spot. It is perfect to discover the highlands - we wanted to visit Inverness, the Glenfiddich distillery and areas around Loch Ness. We were extremely happy with the location. Elise's home is impeccable in every way! And so is her thoughtfulness. There were four of us, and we valued having two bedrooms very well equipped with extremely clean and comfortable mattresses and bed linen. Just what we needed after a day of visiting the highlands. Fully equipped kitchen, extremely comfortable living room where we wound down over a glass of wine or whiskey. We also found it great that the shower and toilet are separate as there were four of us. Elise was extremely thoughtful and had stocked the fridge with croissants, eggs and milk for the first morning, since we had arrived late. We will definitely be gong back to the Sheriff's lodge!

    Riddhima2017-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • It's very worthy to book this house. Rooms are really big and all the facilities are modern and useful! Very happy to stay there during our trip to Inverness.

    Yu2017-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely cottage and hosts - only had one night but was perfect and great for the kids too.

    Chris2017-08-21T00:00:00Z
  • We had a nice 3-night stay at the Sheriff's Lodge ! Check-in and out was very convenient since Elise lives in the courthouse next door! The place is very spacious with two large bedrooms and is very well equipped for cooking. The main door lock was a little difficult to open/close but I suppose that Elise's husband will soon repair it... We use the place as our basis for two day long excursions in the Highlands. One day to the north-west and the other to the south-west up to Skye island. Many miles but so many wonderful views and visits!

    Réal2017-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • Great place with a nice personal touch. Elise even keeps European power converters for anyone's convenience. I recommend her place to anyone visiting the Dingwall area.

Foulis Castle is close to Evanton which is near the ancient burgh of Dingwall. Foulis Castle is a 15 min walk away from the Storehouse Restaurant & Farm shop, which is situated on the shore/beach of the Cromarty Firth.. You’ll love my place because of privacy of having your own country retreat within beautifully landscaped gardens. My place is small & good for couples, solo adventurers, and business travellers. The one bedroom contains either x2 singles or zip&link super-king size bed.
The Courtyard is located on the North/East wall of the Foulis Castle Courtyard and is a Private Luxury Self Catered home away from home in the Scottish Highlands. It is a tranquil, quiet sanctuary to rebalance mind, body and soul. The Courtyard's front door opens onto the Foulis Castle private drive/parking and overlooks the Foulis Castle Arboretum, beautifully landscaped gardens & ponds. The kitchen area over looks the Castle Courtyard and has all modern facilities with a table seating x 2. The Courtyard bedroom has a 32" flat screen TV with Freeview. It has underfloor central heating which is provided by a biomass heating system, so the apartment is warm throughout. The Courtyard has beautiful traditional flagstone floors throughout it's kitchen, bedroom, entrance hall & shower-room with toilet & sink. The towels and linen on the beds are all new with cotton duvets. The Courtyard bedroom comes with two singles which can zip together creating a super king size bed, there is also plenty of draw & hanging space for clothes. Foulis Castle has guided tours which are held on Tuesdays at 10.30am, there is no charge for the tour but donations to the Foulis Castle Trust are welcome. The Courtyard has unlimited Broadband / WiFi which works well in the kitchen area. We do allow x3 people, though the third person would sleep either in a baby's travel cot or on a mattress on the floor in the entrance hallway. The mattress is a snug fit though can be propped upright during the day, the stone floors through out the Courtyard have underfloor heating.
  • Do not short shrift yourselves by not staying at Foulis Castle for more than 1 or 2 nights. The courtyard apt is beautifully appointed w/ thoughtful finishes and all you could need for a stay. The grounds looking out on the firth and the open land..... all so lovely, we stayed 4 nights and felt a bit sad leaving. Emma and Finn are very present and informative. Our favorite stay out of 4 on our vacation. Cheers!

  • This is a magical property that exceeded our expectations. After visiting castles it was wonderful to stay in one (servants quarters of course) We stayed in The Courtyard and although it is small it is beautifully appointed and thought out. The grounds are lovely and we hope to return one day, I would highly recommend.

Culnaskeath Farmhouse Cottage is an extension built in 1993, and blends in with the original house, built in 1860. It's a cozy house, with a wood-burning stove, two double bedrooms and a new kitchen and new bathroom. The private garden is large. The house has views over to the Black Isle, the Cromarty Firth and across to the Cairngorm mountains in the south. Behind our house are six miles of forest tracks. From these, you can see Ben Wyvis in the west.
History: There has been a Culnaskeath on this site since the 12th century. The family who originally lived here, the Reids, were leech doctors to the Munro family in Foulis Castle, two fields away (just visible). Practical: The heating is oil fired - each room has a radiator. The stove uses coal and wood, some of which will be provided. The garden attached to the cottage is very big and mostly fenced in. It has some play equipment, i.e. swings, sand pit, a see saw, a trampoline. There are also toys and children's books available if needed.
There are five houses on our hill, and we are surrounded by crop and sheep fields. Interesting places within five miles include: - Kiltearn beach (with mysterious ruins of chapel and paths along shore which loop up to the village) - Fyrish Hill (with fabulous views and intriguing monument at top reminiscent of India) - Black Rock Gorge (appears in a Harry Potter film) - Evanton Community Woodlands (with playground and well marked paths.) - Foulis Castle (visible from upstairs), 12th century and still occupied by the Munro clan. - Glenglass - a lovely loch hidden in the glen - Ben Wyvis - (visible when you walk up our hill) a Munro mountain, one of the easier to climb. - The Novar Arms - the village pub, which serves meals and hosts occasional musical jam sessions - Large cup marked stone, from Pict era. This is on ordinance survey maps, and can be viewed a short walk from the cottage. - Storehouse. This is a very popular gourmet food and gift shop, as well as a restaurant, set on the shore of the Cromarty Firth. Perfect for breakfast or lunch. - Aviemore ski resort is about 40 miles south - an hour and 15 minutes. (Ok, outwith the five mile radius, but well worth it if you like skiing.)

  • Great apartment close to the small town of Dingwall. Take-aways, restaurants, supermarkets all very handy. The apartment had everything we needed and more. Lovely touch to have some bread, eggs, milk provided on arrival. Very welcoming. Good base for exploring the Black Isle and surrounding areas.

  • We were warmly welcomed by Jan, which included some bread, eggs, orange juice, etc. She even went out of her way to lock our bikes safely at her own home. The flat is in a quiet culdesac, near to shops and local restaurants, and is a lovely wee place to base yourself for day trips around the area (Loch Ness, Inverness, Black Isle, etc)

  • We were greeted right on time by Andy. He showed us around and he was thoughtful to leave us a few fresh food items for breakfasts. It is a good sized flat and perfectly suited the needs of our family of four. Good hosts, comfortable flat in an area that is central to the bigger city of Inverness.

The apartment is on the first floor with views onto Church Street. A central, but quiet spot close to restaurants, shops and the train station. A perfect getaway for any couple. There is a minimum stay of 7 nights - from Saturday to Saturday.
Dingwall is the heart of the Highlands and is perfect for people who don't want the noise of the city or the isolation of a rural setting - it is a perfect happy medium offering enough amenities for a good holiday stay. The building dates back to 1781 and was originally built as the local school.
There are plenty of takeaways, restaurants, grocers and butchers within walking distance. Dingwall is a perfectly central spot for those wanting to explore the Highlands either by hiking, cycling, train or car.
  • I loved the location, right in the center of Dingwall, so it was easy to do shopping, get to the buses/trains, and get out and walk. Located on the first floor, the apartment itself was beautifully and tastefully decorated; everything was spotless when I arrived, and there were a few goodies in the fridge that I especially appreciated... because I went to sleep almost right away, and woke up really hungry! I highly recommend this place, and the host Tracy was just awesome, helping with little things, and making sure everything was topnotch. If you can't find a good place to stay in Inverness, consider this place in Dingwall.

*Discount for solo travellers, see below* My home is in Evanton, a small village within easy driving distance of Inverness and day trips to the beautiful West Coast of Scotland, and on the 'NC500' coastal route around the Scottish Highlands. The house has 3 bedrooms to rent out with 2 shared bathrooms. I understand that travelling alone can work out more expensive, so if you will be staying here by yourself, please let me know before booking and I will apply a discount down to £30.
I have 3 bedrooms to rent out, all doubles and all with plenty of space. The house is kept very warm so need to worry about the cooler Scottish nights!
Evanton is a perfect jumping off point for those who want a peaceful location close to good amenities and within easy reach of the main hotspots of the Highlands. Inverness is only a 20 minute drive away, with all the restaurants, nightlife, shopping and facilities you might need. The village itself is a sleepy place with one pub and a local shop. There are several beautiful walks you can head out on from the house, to the beach or the woods or the hills around.

The perfect retreat to curl up beside the fire in winter or to enjoy the highlands in the summer. Black Isle Lodge is a Scandinavian log cabin surrounded by birch woods and pine trees in a peaceful, secluded and picturesque corner of the Black Isle in the Highlands of Scotland. Ideally situated only a 15-minute drive from Inverness.
  • The stay at the Black Isle Lodge was thoroughly pleasent. Jenny was always in contact with us and reacted rather quickly to any questions. The house itself is a beautiful, comfortable lodge. If you're looking for a slightly remote base of operation to explore the northern highlands, the Black Isle Lodge is a great option!

    Sascha2017-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • The lodge is clean and spacious with a wonderful wood burning stove. The kitchen is fully equipped and even has a dishwasher which made me very happy! The beds were comfortable with lovely warm duvets and pillows. The water pressure in the shower was excellent. All in all a lovely, warm, comfortable stay.

    Kirsten2017-04-05T00:00:00Z
  • If you look for a perfect place to stay ... you find it here. Black Isle Lodge is equipped more than well. The house is a hidden gem. Host Jenny lives close by and is very helpful and friendly.

    Sabine2017-04-17T00:00:00Z
  • The Lodge is a great place to stay close enough to Inverness for services but also nicely tucked away. Gorgeous views across the Black Isle, particularly at sunrise and the balcony is the perfect spot for a bit of star gazing on a clear night.

    Chris2017-09-25T00:00:00Z
  • Had a lovely stay at the lodge. It is very spacious, clean and well appointed. Would definitely stay again. We particularly liked the location and found many interesting areas to visit. A big thank you to Sebastian & Jenny.

    Miranda2017-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • Five of us (parents and three college-age children) spent three nights at the lodge and enjoyed our time. Beautiful views, especially of the ever-changing clouds. Secluded location 15 minutes from Inverness. Convenient base for day trips - we drove to Ullapool one day, and The Dores Inn on Loch Ness the other day. A bargain compared to hotel costs for five people, and the set up with three bedrooms and two baths, plus a full kitchen, worked well. Wish we could stay longer - we will miss Scotland returning to Nashville, Tennessee with 90 degree July weather. Tony Heard

    Tony2017-07-08T00:00:00Z
  • We only stay just over an hour away from the lodge, but would be back without a doubt. Clean, super comfortable and tranquil. It is a perfect spot for getting away as a family or romantic weekend. The balcony off the double bedroom is a great feature. The location is ideal if you want privacy but be close to a city center and the Black isle at your doorstep. Jenny was super quick in her conmunication with us and an excellent host. We would not hesitate in the slightest to reconmmend the lodge as a base for touring the highlands, a romantic weekend, or a quiet getaway with the kids. It ticks all the boxes.

  • Lindsey and Graham made the start of our vacation really great. At first we had problems to find the house why Graham picked us up even it was close to midnight. They gave us everything we needed, helped us to find the best routes, good restaurants and places to visit. Our favourite part of the garden studio was definitely the garden where we had our breakfast in the sun with a stunning view! We would love to come back someday!!

A cute and cosy modernised cottage surrounded by fields and with a beautiful river at the bottom of the garden. The house is well situated and has a spacious lawn and enclosed garden with access to walks up the river and other beautiful local areas. A good base to strike out for West Coast and Highlands.
Spacious modern kitchen with range cooker. A cosy living room with a wood burning stove. Two double bedrooms, one with en-suite shower room with a power shower. A bathroom with a large bath. A utility room with washing machine and plenty of space for boots and coats to dry off after outdoor adventures.
Evanton is a large village in Easter Ross in the Highlands of Scotland with Ben Wyvis rising to the west and the Cromarty Firth to the south, Evanton is situated 7 miles north of Dingwall and 15 miles north of Inverness. It is a perfect base to strike out from to explore the West Coast, the North and the Highlands. Evanton dates from the early 19th century during the Highland Clearances when the local laird Evan Fraser of Baconie cleared his estate for sheep and planned this township near the newly built road between the River Glass (or Allt Graad) and the River Sgitheach. Evanton is a popular tourist resort and an ideal base to tour the Highlands. The village has hotels and a caravan and campsite, shop, post-office, tea-room, village hall, two churches and a few businesses. The nearest railway station is at Alness. Attractions include the Black Rock Gorge, used in the Harry Potter film The Goblet of Fire, it is a two mile long ravine more than 100ft deep surrounded by beautiful scenery and wildlife. Nearby is the Fyrish Monument erected on Fyrish Hill by Sir Hector Munro in the late 18th century, thought to represent the gates of Negapatnam in south India. The Highland Museum of Childhood is in neighbouring Strathpeffer, Dingwall has a Heritage Museum, Dalmore Distillery and two RSPB nature reserves are located near the Cromarty Firth.
  • I spent a month at Little Katewell. The house is very spacious, warm and private. It benefits from being at a convenient distance to Inverness but also is in a really lovely rural setting with a river at the back. I spent most of my time there working from home. The internet connection is very good, (which is not the case for all Airbnbs which are in a rural location like this one.) Gabrielle and Tim were very accommodating, welcoming and friendly. Gabrielle showed up on the first day with a chocolate Easter bunny and some daffodils and I enjoyed getting to know them a little.

    Anna2016-04-27T00:00:00Z
  • The Little Katewell is a cosy cottage tucked away in the Scottish highlands, and was perfectly fit for our needs as a family of 3 with a toddler. The cottage offers a lot of space and more importantly baby friendly rooms for our little one to crawl around and explore. Gabrielle (host) had left a baby chair and cot for us which was also very helpful. The location is great if you want to explore the area around Inverness and there are also beautiful drives west towards the isles. Recommended for families with small children.

    George2017-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • We were a pair of couples looking for a decent base for a New Year's Eve trip. We had a wonderful stay at Little Katewell - the house is a perfect highland getaway, exactly as advertised (in fact we thought it was nicer!) Warm, cosy, fully equipped with everything we needed to make the house our base for the week. Kitchen is brilliant, everything you need to self-cater as we did, and we were big fans of the whirlpool bath in the main bathroom! Living room is very comfortable, with a really nice wood burner and the heating in the house is super powerful - exactly what we needed on the cold December nights! The bedrooms are a decent size, both have double beds Tim and Gabrielle were very welcoming and attentive - Tim met us and showed us around the house; he was staying close by some of the time and was very happy to be contacted by phone if we needed anything when he wasn't around. They came and checked in with us on the last night but the rest of the time were happy to leave us to it which was lovely. We'd highly recommend Little Katewell for anyone looking for a cosy highland getaway!

  • Lovely house with 3 comfortable double bedrooms. Nicely decorated, cosy, has everything you need. Good location, shop and pub just nxt to the house, bus stop across the street, good parking, and still it's in a quiet village where you feel away from the city rush. Not far from beautiful Scottish landmarks but preferably by car. Very good contact with the owner, Fiona replies right away to all questions and gives you good tips about anything you need. Recommended!!!

The Shepherd's Hut at Knockbain offers quirky BED AND BREAKFAST accommodation. The traditional style hut is situated in the garden of the main farmhouse on a busy working farm on the outskirts of Dingwall, Ross-shire. With stunning views, the hut is a superb base for a Highland holiday.
THE SHEPHERD'S HUT: The Shepherd's Hut at Knockbain is a traditional style shepherd hut situated at the bottom of our garden, beside the pond and in amongst the wild flowers. The hut has a sturdy steel frame and heavy duty traditional cast wheels. It is well-insulated and has an efficient little wood stove for chillier evenings. At 12 foot long and 7 foot wide the hut is compact but well organised to make the most of the available space! The Shepherd's Hut is the perfect romantic hideaway but we are also especially well located for those on their way to or from the west coast, the Land's End to John o' Groats cycle route and the newly established North Coast 500. PLEASE NOTE - this listing is NOT SUITABLE for SELF-CATERING. INSIDE: Inside the hut guests will find a comfortable double bed with crisp white linen and electric blanket, a small wood stove, kettle, toaster and hairdryer. There is no wifi but 3G is available for most networks. SHOWER ROOM FACILITIES: Guests will have exclusive use of the toilet and shower room which is to be found around 30 m away from the hut, in the entrance of our house. Access is available at all times. Towels and soaps are provided in the bathroom and washing and drying facilities can be found there too. LOCAL AREA: The area has a selection of eateries and more formal restaurants. The usual amenities such as a Hospital, Doctors' Surgery, Chemist, Bank, Supermarket, Leisure Centre and Petrol Station are all to be found in Dingwall (1 mile). During your stay, if you find you need something, just ask us - whether it's a forgotten toothbrush, the use of a computer for holiday planning, restaurant recommendations and bookings, ideas of places to visit, we're only too happy to help.
The Shepherd's Hut at Knockbain is on a busy working farm above Dingwall in the Scottish Highlands. This may mean that tractors and other vehicles are moving about the farm from early morning until evening, especially at busy points during the farming calendar. The hut has stunning views across farmland, down the Cromarty Firth and of Dingwall itself. 25 minutes drive south will see you in the busy city of Inverness. An hour's drive to the west will give you access to some of Scotland's most beautiful scenery.
  • Our experience of staying at the Shepherd's Hut couldn't have been more wonderful! Susie was really lovely and friendly, greeting us on arrival and showing us around. The Hut itself is delightful - set at the bottom of the garden, by a fruiting plum tree and little pond, with the most excellent view over Cromarty Firth. The inside of the Hut is super cosy, really tastefully decorated and thoughtfully equipped. We didn't want for a thing! The bed was super comfy and we fell asleep to the crackling of the fire in the little wood burning stove and the hooting of a resident owl. The breakfast tray was great too. Overall, our time in the Shepherd's Hut was just perfect. One night was definitely not enough, and we would love to stay again.

  • Our host Susie made us feel very welcome, everything was perfectly prepared, with lots of thoughtful details. Even if the farm is a bit hidden away we found it quite easily with help of the itinerary provided. The hut is exactly like in the photos, possibly even nicer :) She also gave us a great tip for a lovely beach on the Black Isle where we had a lovely time. The hut is perfectly located at the bottem of the garden allowing privacy and an amazing view. After a wonderful nights sleep we woke to country side noises and the sun gently peeking in the windows, perfect!!! We can't wait to go back :)

  • We would stay at the shepherd's hut again in a heart beat! Check in went smoothly, hosts were friendly, and the breakfast was delicious. We enjoyed a walk on the property, and simply relaxing in the cozy hut.

  • Susie was incredibly warm, welcoming and accommodating on our arrival to the Shepherd's Hut. My friend and I were overcome with how quirky and comfortable the Shepherd's Hut is. There is such attention to detail inside- from the wood burning stove, to wine glasses, to the towels and milk for tea and coffee on arrival! Never mind that the Hut is set on a beautiful spot on Knockbain Farm overlooking Dingwall. Staying here was one of the highlights of our Scottish trip and we really appreciate how much Susie helped us feel at home; we highly, highly recommended it.

  • Susie was there to welcome us when we arrived and to show us around, and was a very helpful host. The shepherd's hut has a most beautiful view out over the Cromarty Firth and the Black Isle and a short walk up the hill behind gives a panorama of the hills to the west. The hut was friendly and well equipped and we took advantage of the wood burning stove and the electric blanket. The Bath room in the house was fine and everything, both house and hut, was amazingly clean. Susie has to get off to work, so breakfast is left for you on a tray. Warmly recommended.

  • Staying at Susie and Richard's was a lovely and unique experience. The hut is incredibly charming and located in a private area of their backyard. They were amazing hosts and it was a pleasure to talk to them both. Their dog is very friendly and a sweetheart. The only downside is that we wished we had stayed longer than one night. Definitely recommend!

  • Delightful! Richard and Susie were both very welcoming. The hut was wonderfully comfortable, spotless and surprisingly warm, and breakfast was delicious. Thanks for a lovely stay - one of the best Airbnbs we've been to :)
