Other Great Outdoors
“Go as early as is possible to hike the highest mountain of Curacao. Locals usually leave from the East side when it’s still dark, to start climbing the mountain at dawn. Bring enough water and good sneakers. I would not recommend to go in periods with lots of rain, because the trail can get very slippery and therefore dangerous. You’ll need an average fitness level, mostly hiking. The last part just before the top can be a bit tricky. You’ll need to climb a bit onto rocks. The view is absolutely stunning and worth the hike.”

Neighbourhood
“Willemstad’s first colonial settlement started as a hub for Dutch slave traders. Now a World Heritage site, this modern city center has a distinct Euro-Caribbean atmosphere, its preserved colonial buildings housing fashion boutiques, art galleries, and sidewalk cafés. Wander down Punda's narrow cobblestoned alleys, then snap a signature photo at the Wilhelminaplein’s giant Curaçao and Dushi signs. The neighborhood gets extra lively during the free Punda Vibes event every Thursday from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., featuring an outdoor market, live music, and local folkloric dancing.”

“Sometimes you feel like you want to have toast for breakfast, or as the Dutch say it: "A Toasty". For this we go to Zansi where they als serve a good coffee. They have more breakfast options, not a lot, but what they have is good. Only negative might be that they only start serving as of 09.00.”

Beach
“The Playa Porto Marie is a long, narrow beach of white sand that is very popular with Dutch tourists. It is one of the best on the island of Curacao because it is excellent for divers. It has crystal clear waters teeming with fish, thanks to the "Reef Balls" positioned on the seabed to encourage the repopulation of the marine life and the nearby cliff. There are no trees for shade and sun loungers and parasols come with a fee. The property is very well equipped with a kitchen area, bathrooms, showers, a dive center, a restaurant that is always full of crowds. The car park is at the top and overlooking the beach with its bay and other nearby attractions. From Willemstad it is about 30-35 minutes by car.”

“This is another locally visited beach. There is an entry fee per vehicle, which ensures the cleanliness of the beach. The seating is free; however, we recommend arriving earlier to find a spot in the shade. There is a restaurant offering midday snacks and delicious milkshakes for when you're hungry, after snorkeling. We rate this beach 4 stars ”

“Miles, named after Jazz legend Miles Davis, is a cozy Jazz Café in the Nieuwestraat. Here you can enjoy laid back Jazz music from real vinyl turntables and cold drinks in a relaxing atmosphere. It's a small place which is visited by locals and tourists alike. It's easy to meet new people here. ”

“Delicious seafood in a cozy environment, where culinary connoisseurs can find a new home. Since it opened in January 2009, Fishalicious may be relatively new but under the inspiring leadership of Michelle and her partner Auke from Urk (a well known fishermen’s village in The Netherlands), who like no other knows everything about fish.”
