It is currently the home of Lord Edward Manners (brother of the current Duke) and his family. In form a medieval manor house, it has been described as "the most complete and most interesting house of its period". The origins of the hall date to the 11th century. The current medieval and Tudor hall includes additions added at various stages between the 13th and the 17th centuries.”

“Well kept real ales, carefully selected wine list and exceptional food - in The Good Food Guide since 2009; also in Michelin and Sawdays guides. The dining room and snug have been restored to their original simplicity with lime plastered walls and farmhouse furniture. Candlelight and fresh flowers add a touch of elegance. Benches outside on the village green make a great stopping point on a walk, set in the pretty village of Alstonefield. 8.3 miles away”
