Derbyshire Dales District Holiday Rentals

Just booked in Derbyshire Dales District

A lovely, traditional little terraced cottage located high above Matlock Bath, with stunning views over the Derbyshire countryside. Pretty, comfortable and sympathetically furnished throughout, this Matlock Bath cottage is ideal for a small family or group of friends to enjoy the delights of this beautiful part of the Peak District.
Despite being only a few minutes from the centre of Matlock Bath, the cottage is on a tranquil terrace high above the bustle. It's warm in winter and cool in the summer. Despite being new to Airbnb, we have been letting this property to great reviews for over four years.
The immediate neighbourhood is quiet, but Matlock Bath is full of restaurants, cafes and bars. There are lots of things to do including taking the cable car up to the Heights of Abraham or walking along the river and canal or up in the hills. There are many other towns and villages close by such as Bakewell and Cromford.

A beautiful cosy cottage just 2 minutes walk from the centre of Wirksworth whilst located at the edge of some of the best walks in the Peaks. We have a walled front garden for the morning sun and an enclosed rear garden for evening barbecues and views over the hills. Inside is comfortable with wifi, TV with recorder (and some saved films). The log-burner, rolltop bath and country kitchen add to the charm.
We've added as much kitchen equipment as we find we need when we stay; plenty of pots and pans, a hand blender, toaster, various implements (corkscrew included!) and we leave a welcome tray for you with some tea, coffee and biscuits so you can relax as soon as you arrive. Fresh towels and bedding, warm duvets and comfy mattresses make for a peaceful night's sleep for all guests. There's a washer/dryer in case you want to do your laundry, a freezer too in the outhouse and gas central heating and unlimited hot water throughout the cottage.
Wirksworth truly is the Jewel of the Peak; a great town with pubs, restaurants, cafes and bars, a recently-opened arthouse cinema and with plenty of curiosity shops, a lead-mining museum tucked away, a steam railway and not a single high-street chain. Should you choose to, you can get all you need from the town for your holiday without using the car. Carsington Water and other attractions are only a short cycle or drive away, with major towns and attractions just a stone's throw (Bakewell, Buxton, Ashbourne, Chatsworth House, even Alton Towers for the brave). The leisure centre, a short walk from Matchbox at the bottom of the town has a gym, pool and a climbing wall.
  • We enjoyed a lovely long walking weekend based in Matchbox Cottage. We were able to join Wirksworth circular walks from our doorstep and never felt the need to drive our car anywhere. You will find everything you need in the cottage, it was very cosy, clean and comfortable and a short 2 min walk into town, we didn't find any problems in the cottage and felt at home. The Hope and Anchor has now closed down in the town, but we enjoyed the 'Blacks Head' and had a lovely meal in the Mistral.

  • We stayed for a week at Matchbox cottage, which was comfortable with a good view from the backyard. Kitchen was filled with amenities, everything was nicely provided. Had slight issues with the toilet and fridge, which needed repair. Wirksworth is a nice little town with awesome view of the Peak District.

  • Beautiful cottage, old and creaky but that's part of it's charm! A few small hiccups with access, but otherwise we were very happy staying here.

  • The cottage is really cosy and very well equipped. We stayed with our 4 year old son and there was plenty to do in the area - we wished we could have stayed longer.

  • Matchbox cottage is absolutely perfect. We had a great 3 nights here, it has everything you need for a comfortable stay. There was also a cot and highchair for our little boy which made things a lot easier. To top it off, Wirksworth is a fab town with great shops and walks. We had the best mini break and would totally recommend staying here!

If he offers to cook you dinner, say yes because the food is delicious! The little hamlet is full of history and is so peaceful, the value for money cannot be matched. Would stay again :)

  • Brilliant, brand new cosy cottage. We booked the cottage for my birthday weekend and throughly enjoyed our stay. The accommodation was so clean and fresh, we couldn't fault it. The main room was a bit warm due to only having the one window to open but the host was really accommodating and was quick to assist. Stephen was fantastic throughout and even took us in to Matlock to save us booking a taxi. Great stay. Thanks all :-)

    The Garden Cottage
    7 reviews
Clover Cottage is a cosy holiday cottage located in the beautiful Derbyshire village of Winster. Full amenities are provided including kitchen, washing machine, towels, linen, fire place, central heating, BT Infinity wifi and more. Whether you're exploring the Peak District, visiting friends or attending a wedding at some of the wonderful local venues we're sure you'll have a great stay.
Clover Cottage has two bedrooms: a good sized double, and a spacious single. All you can eat BT Infinity for those wanting super quick wifi, clean, and parking right outside the front door (unlike other properties that claim as such).
Winster is an old lead mining village in the Derbyshire Dales with a population around 600. We have a thriving local community with our annual carnival (Winster Wakes) and open gardens tradition (the Secret Gardens of Winster), a local history group, shop, two pubs, a primary school and kids' play ground. The village is close to Matlock, Bakewell, Chesterfield, Chatsworth, and Haddon Hall.
  • Clover cottage was the perfect place for a getaway to the Peak District! Located in a small village called Winster there are lots of walks right on your doorstep. Robin was a fantastic host who met us when we checked in, he made us feel welcome and answered our questions about what is best to do in the Peak District with it being our first time. The cottage itself was lovely with more than what we needed! It has all its original features such as beams and stone windows, yet really modern inside too. Parking was just outside the cottage. Thanks for a lovely stay Robin!

    Jo2017-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • Robin gave us a very warm welcome. He's a very interesting chap having travelled and worked all over the world. The cottage is charming. But not in a way where a guest is terrified of breaking a family heirloom! In other words we could totally relax. Robin has provided all the required amenities. The cottage was spotless; the sheets were cotton!; the tv works; everything you need for preparing a full meal is on hand. However, after a few long days of motorcycling around the Peak District, it was great to just go to the local Pub (about a 5 minute walk) which offered excellent local beer and food. Winster is a stunningly beautiful village and the position is ideal for the Peaks. Walkers, cyclists, motorbikers, could not have a better position. You can park right outside the cottage. The locals were very friendly and you can get most necessities in the local shop which is also only a 5 minute walk away. All in all we were totally delighted with Robin's cottage - you would be hard pushed to find anything better for such a reasonable price.

  • This place really comes with the trifecta of Air BnB experiences. Wendy is extremely organized, flexible, and caring. We arrived on Friday night around 1:30am and having been sent thorough instructions the day before, found this little slice of heaven with ease. We were able to settle in with no difficulty and were greeted with fresh bread, jams, butter, and fixings for tea and coffee. The studio gives you the experience you've always wanted of living in a tiny house. The bed looks out over the rolling hills of the Peak District, the bathroom is spacious and well equipped, and the little seating area right outside the front door makes for the perfect spot for a cup of tea in the morning. Finally, the location is unbeatable. Nestled in a charming little town, there are beautiful walks right out the door, and it's only 15 minutes away from Bakewell- a larger town definitely worth a visit! Really, we couldn't have asked for more, and only wish we could have stayed for much much longer! Unfortunately, we didn't even get a chance to meet Wendy in person due to her being away, but based on our experience in her studio, and the communication we shared via phone, we would love to come back someday just to properly meet our wonderful host! 10/10 would recommend!

One of just six farmhouses in the rural parish of Gratton, Dale End House is found on a quiet lane between Elton and Youlgreave. It enjoys unspoilt countryside, popular with walkers and mountain bikers alike yet is only six miles from Bakewell and Matlock. We discovered Dale End House whilst mountain biking through Gratton Dale and instantly fell in love with it. Surrounded by breath-taking views, and abundant wildlife - Gratton is one of Derbyshire’s best-kept secrets.
Self-catering and Bed & Breakfast accommodation is available within the grounds of this fine Grade II listed Derbyshire long house. Both The Barn & The Lodge overlook a courtyard with ducks and chickens, but are separated from each other by a traditional 2 storey stable block running through the middle of the old farmyard, adding to the privacy both buildings provide. These properties have unspoilt views over open fields, with sheep and scattered trees on the hillside and a babbling brook. We have lovingly restored The Lodge and The Barn to an exceptionally high standard. Both have large open plan lounges with sofas and TV, a dining area and ensuite shower rooms. Under floor heating throughout. Well behaved dogs are welcome. Whether you are looking for a romantic getaway, a place to celebrate a special occasion with a large group of family or friends, or a base for walking and cycling we are sure that you will love The Lodge and The Barn at Dale End House.
Gratton is a very rural parish with just 6 remote farmhouses. You can walk on paths straight from the house. Youlgreave, Elton and Winster are nearby villages, each less than 3 miles away. Bakewell and Matlock are both 15 mins away by car, 30 mins on a bike!
  • The Barn is absolutely brilliant. We stayed as a family of 7 including one 2-year-old and we all loved it. It has been furnished beautifully, all of the facilities are great and the secluded location makes it the perfect getaway. The animals (pigs, chickens and lovely dogs) were the cherry on the top. We'd highly recommend it to any group looking for a trip to the Peak District.

Cromford is a must for those with an interest in industrial history and exploring the beautiful Peak District. Set in the beautiful wooded gorge of the River Derwent and surrounded by wooded hills and cliffs, the village of Cromford is famous for its connections with Sir Richard Arkwright and the cotton trade, and often referred to as the cradle of the Industrial Revolution. North Street is the earliest planned industrial housing in the world and the finest of its type, built in 1771 by Richard Arkwright to house the workers from his pioneering cotton mill. Surrounded by countryside, it is at the heart of a designated World Heritage Site. Cromford offers a selection of quality bistros, pubs, shops and cafés, as well as Arkwright’s Cromford Mill and canal. You can also enjoy a visit to nearby: Matlock where antique hunters can enjoy a range of interesting shops (3 miles) Matlock Bath where the cable cars of the Heights of Abraham will offer you a whole new perspective over the area, known to the Victorians as Little Switzerland (1 mile) Chatsworth House & Country Estate (10 miles) Bakewell, a charming market town and home of the Bakewell pudding! (10 miles)
  • Clean, compact cottage in centre of Cromford. Idea base for exploring Peaks. Modern facilities plus period sitting room. Karen as thought of every detail for your stay.

  • This was a great place to stay, close to many places of interest and great walks and had lots to do.

  • Fantastic little cottage in a vibrant Peak District Town, lots to do nearby. The cottage itself was beautiful and very welcoming, having the basics (milk, teabags etc) already there was a lovely little treat after a 2 1/2 hour drive. Would throughly recommend Karen's cottage. Thank you.

    Lucinda2017-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • Karen's cottage was delightful, very clean, accommodating and furnished in character. Particular points to mention are the very comfortable beds, and the wonderful shower! The whole area is immersed in social and industrial history, so interesting. And any visitor MUST visit Scaryhin Bookshop and cafe in Cromford!

    Jane2017-08-03T00:00:00Z
  • This was a really great base - we chose this place as it was close to the attractions in the Peak District that we wanted to see. The house itself was lovely: really comfy bed, easy to use shower, and kitchen with all the bits you would need if you wanted to dine in. Karen kept up communication throughout and left very detailed guides on things to do in the local area. Cromford itself is quite quiet and has a couple of pubs and a restaurant in - ideal if you want a peaceful place to enjoy the Peak District.

    Jo2017-06-20T00:00:00Z
  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Cromford, an excellent base to access the White Peak from. The cottage is lovely and Karen and Rob were welcoming and very helpful. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to friends.

    Julia2017-07-20T00:00:00Z
  • The house is lovely, everything is excellent quality from the bathroom to the beds to the atmosphere. Every person we met was friendly and the neighbours had some great trip ideas and historical (URL HIDDEN) about the area. Wish we'd booked more days. Note: if you aren't very good at stairs (bad joints, arthritis, vertigo etc) the top set of stairs are quite steep

    Rhea2017-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay in Karen's cottage! The cottage is very pretty and has everything you need for a comfortable stay. The kitchen is well stocked so you can enjoy a meal in. Cromford itself has one or two places worth visiting (the bookshop we would highly recommend - such character!) and the cottage is perfectly positioned to explore the Peak District. We didn't meet Karen but she was on hand throughout our stay for tips!

Hidden away in beautiful Wensley Dale, locations don't come much better than this. There are superb views across the valley on all the lovely walks from the cottage. A brisk evening stroll along the road by the river will soon get you to the Three Stags and Square and Compass pubs in Darley Bridge. Matlock, with all its county town facilities is just five minutes drive over the hill.
The Hayloft has been carefully created out of a mellow stone hay loft in the midst of the sleepy little hamlet of Snitterton. It has a lovely vaulted lounge, dining and kitchen area. The lounge has a comfortable settee and chair, flat screen T.V. D.V.D, SKY and Wi-Fi together with a glowing inset electric fire. The superb kitchen has quality fitted units, halogen hob, oven, microwave, fridge, dishwasher and automatic washer/dryer. A vaulted double bedroom. An adjoining bathroom with bath/hand held shower and W.C.
Don't forget to visit nearby Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall and the Peak Steam Railway. Other treats include Calver Edge's breathtaking views, Monsal Dale's wonderful waterfalls, the 'little Switzerland' of Matlock Gorge, Sunday breakfast in the Devonshire Arms in Beeley and the ultimate of meals in Stone's restaurant in Matlock. Make sure you get back in time for a drink on the little patio as the swifts and house martins swoop overhead
  • We had a fantastic stay here. The location was superb, rural bit close to town and the supermarket and station. The loft apartment was furnished wonderfully, and we even had a welcome visit from the cat who lived in the barn! It's the perfect place to explore the hills and Matlock. And a real romantic getaway too.

  • Thank you for a wonderful stay at the Rocking Stone Cottage. It truly is an idyllic retreat, and the perfect place for a holiday. We were made to feel very welcome by Rachael and Gerry. There were many thoughtful touches – a pint of milk and a bottle of bubbly in the fridge when we arrived, games and DVDs (that our son enjoyed), fresh flowers and not to mention the homemade cake. The cottage itself is very spacious, comfortable and clean. A lot of thought and care has gone into it, and there is everything needed to make it a very relaxing place to stay. The setting is beautiful, and as much as anything we just enjoyed sitting outside in the sun on one of the terraces. It is also an excellent location for exploring the surrounding area. There are lots of places to see nearby (not least Chatsworth and Haddon Hall) and there are some very nice walks from the cottage. We would love to come back next year. Thank you again for a wonderful holiday.

  • We stayed a couple of nights in this stunning cottage. The location is perfect, peaceful with walks from the door, but very close to places to visit, we spent a day at Chatsworth. Rachael and Gerry are lovely hosts and the chocolate brownies left for us on arrival were divine!

  • This was the first time we had booked an airbnb which hadn't yet had a review, so were a tad nervous but the place looked so good and inviting that we risked it ;-) We needn't have worried, we felt at home from the minute we arrived. Walking into the property to the welcoming smell of home made lemon cake, fresh flowers and even a bottle of bubbles in the fridge, tea, coffee etc. The main bedroom has the most amazing views over open countryside. The beds are super comfortable, high quality bedlinen, fluffy towels, posh toiletries. It was all 5* from a host who was very helpful and friendly whilst respecting our privacy. There are many amazing walks right from the doorstep, so really there is no need to use the car if all you want is fresh air, stunning scenery and a welcoming place to return to. Wifi was great and it is well stocked with DVD's and board games. Really enjoyed the outside space in the evenings, so peaceful! Both days we walked from the cottage to neighbouring villages, where we had a pub lunch. It was the perfect break. Thanks Rachael, we will be back!!!

  • Rocking Stone Cottage is a beautiful place to stay. It has everything you could need. Rachael and Gerry kindly provided tea and coffee, and ordered us a pint of milk for when we arrived. We even had champagne in the fridge and delicious homemade brownies! The decor is stunning! The beds and bedding are very comfortable. All the views from the cottage are beautiful. It was very peaceful, and so nice to sit on the patio each night. Rachael and Gerry were outstanding hosts. They were very welcoming and friendly, and they gave us great recommendations for places to eat and nearby walks. They made our stay very enjoyable and comfortable. The location of the cottage is perfect for country walks and exploring nearby villages. We will be back!

  • Jane's cottage is a cozy getaway just a few minutes walk away from the high peak trail. As soon as we walked in we fell in love with the atmosphere and found that Jane had gone out of her way to make her home even more welcome for us. The kitchen was fully equipped with a lovely fire in the living room. The bathroom, clean with a good pressured shower and a beautiful bedroom with a big cozy bed. There is also a cottage manual with lots of information on walks, restaurants and takeaways in the area. We'll definitely be back - and for longer!

  • Jane was incredibly accommodating regarding arrival and check out times which was a great start but the cottage speaks for itself. Location allowed easy access to some of the best areas of the Peak District and the was so charming and cosy inside as well as being immaculately clean and tidy. Jane even left fresh orange juice, croissants and fresh local milk. The bed was super comfortable and we had some of the best sleep either myself or my girlfriend have had in ages. I couldn't recommend this stunning little cottage enough. We will totally be coming back again soon. Many many thanks!! :)

  • Even though this is a cottage, it actually feels quite spacious...or it did for the three of us who stayed anyway. The décor is lovely, it is right in the middle of a very quiet little town where there isn't a lot of options...but if you're coming to the area it's most likely you're after peace and quiet or walking and this place has both of those. The towels were lovely and soft as was the bedding, the sofa was really comfortable too as was the odd little modern take on a rocking chair. All in all it would be difficult to fault the place. A perfect little retreat.

    James2017-09-10T00:00:00Z
  • We cannot wait to come back to Hefford House. The house is beautifully decorated, spotlessly clean, cosy and well thought out. The hosts have covered everything you could possibly need. They have tons of local information which came in extremely handy for us. What we particularly liked was that the main bedroom was on the first floor which meant the kids were above us on the second floor - something I'm sure other parents will understand and like :) Thanks you again for a wonderful stay x

  • Fantastic beautiful cottage. Quiet but central to winster. 10 mins away from several major family attractions. Clean comfortable and the hosts have thought of everything you could possibly need for the stay.

  • The perfect place for anyone spending time in the Peak District. Friendly and welcoming hosts, clean and fresh accommodation in a quiet and tranquil location. Staying in Helen's little cottage was an absolute pleasure and I hope to stay again when I'm next in the Peak District. Perfect!

  • We had a lovely stay at the cottage. It was bigger than we had expected and very cosy. We were lucky enough to have some sunshine so we could sit in the garden but pleased the heating worked well so we could enjoy the evenings inside. There are two cafes and two shops in the village that we used and a pub. We would recommend The Bull Inn at Foolow as the food was excellent. We hope to return to do more exploring.

  • Stunning, new accommodation, immaculate, warm and comfortable... With the the best shower ever. The barn is situated right on the edge of the most picturesque of villages and perfect for cycling, walking and relaxing. Lovely secluded garden. The local people are very friendly and welcoming and the food in the Miner's Arms is wonderful. Close also to the Monsal Trail, one of the best cycle and walking routes in Britain. Lots of public walkways and bridle paths to explore... Steep hills to run and cycle up. Lots of history for such a small village, well documented throughout including the local museum. We would definitely come back again

  • I would thoroughly recommend Helen's lovely little cottage! I booked this cottage for one night to enjoy a weekend away in the Peak District for my other half's birthday. We had a great time exploring the nearby villages and countryside including Burbage, Bakewell & Hathersage, and the cottage was a great base. The cottage itself was spotlessly clean and had tea, coffee, milk & biscuits provided. The cottage is small but perfect for two. There is a kitchenette with a kettle and toaster, a washing machine and a dryer (which we didn't use), a bathroom with a shower, and a lovely bedroom with a comfy double bed. We had dinner at the nearby Miners Arms pub which was really tasty and an easy walking distance from Helen's cottage. Helen was really friendly and on hand to help with any queries, but also gave us our own space. We were very happy with our stay and would stay again in the future!

    Emily2017-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • Helen's cottage is in a beautiful village with plenty of pubs and local tea rooms to visit. The cottage is very cosy, warm and clean. Helen was a great host who was around to help as much as you needed. The bed was very comfortable and the shower was powerful. There is a small kitchenette with fridge, microwave, toaster and tea making facilities (which Helen has provided bread, butter, milk, tea etc). We would recommend Helen's cottage for long weekend getaways. The Bull's Head pub in Foolow is a friendly family pub with good beer and weekday offers on food.

  • We booked Winnets Cottage for three nights. The property was nicely decorated and clean, it has everything you need and more compared to some self catering properties, especially the Kitchen which has so many extra utensils and equipment, from cling film to a food mixer, lots of cutlery, crockery and pans. The linen and towels are attractive, clean and of good quality. The weather was not perfect during our stay, fortunately the ambiance of the cottage was such that being inside and playing the boardgames supplied was a joy. The courtyard is secure, safe and peaceful with many friendly animals. The view from windows is beautiful and allows full supervision of the yard. Christine was friendly and welcoming and even laid the table for tea and brought freshly home baked cake and jam on our arrival. Needless to say we felt very warmly welcomed and had a beautiful time in The Peak District. We will definitely return to the Winnets Cottage . 11/10

  • We had a lovely week at Church Farm. It is a great place to stay with children, especially if they love animals. The toy tractors were also a great extra. The cottage is very clean and there was a homemade cake on the table when we arrived - a lovely touch. The host was very helpful and went out of her way to show our children round.

Monsal Head, with pub and cafe, is a mile away on foot and can be reached without walking on the road. The Packhorse pub is slightly further, in Little Longstone and both are a downhill walk on the way back! The Monsal Trail is also perfect for an easy bike ride or there are many bridleways and trails if you have a mountain bike and are more adventurous. For climbing, the Rubicon Wall is just 200m away. A venue that many climbers travel for miles to get to, or make special holiday arrangements to be near. A short walk (up hill) to Cressbrook Hall (wedding venue)
  • Imagine superior hotel accomodation with a spectacular view and set in a fabulous location. Breakfast each morning is beautifully presented and the hosts are friendly and welcoming. This is an indication of the quality of the accomodation presented by Wendy and Stephen in their annexe in the Peak District.

    John2017-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • We had an amazing 2 days staying at Wendy and Stephen's private annex. The location was perfect, breakfast was lovely every morning, annex is completed to a high standard- underfloor heating was great with the snow and cold weather we had this weekend! They even offered to help arrange a lift to the top of the hill just incase we got snowed in! Couldn't have asked for more from the hosts - will recommend highly to everyone we speak to! Thank you :-)

    Katherine2017-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • We were welcomed by freshly made scones which were perfectly baked and a very personal touch. Wendy was super helpful and made us feel very welcome. All the reviews were spot on and we would love to go back again.

  • Wendy and Stephen were excellent hosts. The setting is absolutely beautiful, everything we could think of had been provided for and a wonderful breakfast. We would definitely visit again!

  • We would highly recommend a stay with Wendy and Stephen at Cressbrook Mill. The setting is stunning - perfect for countryside walks or just sitting watching the river. A very stylish room and delicious breakfast. Perfect hosts.

    Esther2017-05-07T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay. Wendy and Stephen were excellent hosts. The breakfast was beyond our expectations particularly the yoghurt fruit and grenola. Lovely view over the river from the bedroom.

  • We had an amazing time at Wendy and Stephen's place in Cressbrook. The location is absolutely stunning in a picturesque valley right next to the river. The room was lovely with everything we needed and beautiful views out to the river. There are many easily accessible walks and a great pub at the top of the road that we went to for dinner twice. The breakfasts were delicious and Wendy kindly made them nice and early for us so we could go walking! We loved our time here and hope to visit again one day.

Primrose cottage is our cosy yet spacious Victorian cottage in beautiful Bakewell. Minutes from the town centre, the cottage is a perfect base to explore the Peak National Park and Chatsworth House.
  • The cottage is exceptional in every way imaginable and we had a great stay. The location was great for us to travel around Peak District and was only a short walk into Bakewell which is quite charming. The cottage was clean and had all the amenities. Highly recommended.

    Munish2017-07-31T00:00:00Z
  • A great cottage in a a superb location, cosy, very clean and very safe too. A five minute walk into Bakewell town centre, and minutes from Chatsworth House and Gardens, and Haddon Hall. A nice bottle of wine, and complimentary milk in the fridge. Kitchen very clean, and sleeps 4 (2 double bedrooms) on a quiet road. This is a great place to stay and we would recommend this.

    Jatin2017-06-18T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely cottage with two large bedrooms. Really clean and comfortable. A short walk down into down - the hill back helps burn off the Bakewell cakes. The town is really cute, plenty to do in the surrounding areas. The Monsal cycle trail is a 10min drive away, that was a highlight, easy for non-cyclists like me.

    Claire2017-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • Me and my partner wanted a week away in the peak district and we got so much more than that! Jerome' s cottage in bakewell was a slice of heaven! The cottage was ideally placed close to bakewell town centre (although we struggled going up the hill, it was a good workout!). The cottage was absolutely beautiful and had all the amenities we could wish for. The added touch of milk and a bottle of wine in the fridge and a bakewell pudding on the table was so nice. It totally exceeded our expectations of a week away

    Rebecca2017-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay here. I got the room on the top floor and loved looking out the window at the beautiful view. The beds are so comfortable and great quality towels as well. So nice to have off street parking as well! It is a great location - quiet and scenic - and yet you are a short distance from the Main Street of Bakewell which has everything you need. You are also a short drive from Buxton, Chatsworth House and Ashbourne - all of which we visited during our stay. Thanks Jerome!

    Liz2017-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely cottage in a quiet corner of Bakewell, yet accessible to town and countryside from the doorstep. We knew all about the hills which provide great views and sore calf muscles....we even had sunshine in Bakewell in October ! We plan to visit again and would be very happy to re-book

    David2017-10-02T00:00:00Z
  • A delightful cottage in a fabulous location. A yummy Bakewell pie as a welcome present and a bottle of wine. The cottage is warm, clean and welcoming. Thank you so much.

    Aimee2017-06-26T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great place to stay and very quiet though only a short walk along a lane to get to the town. It's a lovely little house with great views from the bedrooms and is all very clean and well-fitted out. The bottle of wine, bottles of milk and delicious lemon cake we found in the fridge on our arrival was very welcome! A really good base to explore the Peaks.

My home is an ideal place to stay for people who enjoy the outdoors and beautiful countryside, with Froggatt, Curbar, Birchen and Millstone Edges only a mile or two away. Stately homes nearby are Chatsworth, Hassop, Eyam, Bolsover, Haddon, Hardwick and many others. My home is well placed for your stay when attending any of the events these venues organise over the year, such as Horse Trials, Country Fairs, or other specialised events. Coming up in the next few months are many exciting events such as Matlock Bath illuminations, Christmas fairs and food markets at Bakewell and Chatsworth, Carols in the caves at Castleton and this years' theme for the decorations around the house at Chatsworth is Dickens. Walking, bird watching and mountain biking are very popular here too, all easily accessible from my home. The area is well-known for its exciting and scenic roads to ride on a motorbike and my driveway is a safe and secure place to park motorbikes. The Peak District has many beautiful villages and areas of interest to visit. The towns of Bakewell, Eyam (the Plague village), Buxton and Castleton are all very close. Sheffield is only 30 minutes away, with all the facilities a major city offers, theatre, cinema, dining, shopping and many tourist sights of it's own. Information and leaflets about the area are available in my home, and at the local tourist information centres. By prior arrangement I can provide space to leave your equipment safely during your stay, such as mountain bikes, climbing equipment, motorbike jackets and helmets while you explore the local towns and villages. Although I have 2 rooms to let I only accept one booking at a time, so please tell me if you want to stay in the double, the single, or both rooms.
There are many good pubs, cafes, an excellent fish and chip shop, a pizza takeaway, a curry restaurant, and a local shop and post office, which is also a cash point for most types of card. The shop sells fresh foods and bread, tinned and frozen food, alcohol, newspapers and other household items. It is open from 7 am until 10 pm most days. There are gift shops within walking distance, or a short drive away. There are hairdressers in the village, as well as garages for fuel and repairs, butchers shops and Lennons - the famous boot-making factory.
  • Sarah welcomed us on the door step and her warmth continued through our stay. Had a great chat about travels over a cup of tea with Finn the dog listening in. Great healthy breakfast with tasty preserves while looking at the beautiful view. Great position for exploring the area. House was clean and comfortable.

    Janette2017-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • Sarah's home is welcoming and a great value place to stay. We were visiting nearby Chatsworth, but it is also ideal for getting out into the Peak District. Cooked breakfast is not offered, but the homemade jams (and stewed rhubarb and ginger) are superb. Sarah is a friendly, helpful and as said, welcoming host.

    Matt2017-07-14T00:00:00Z
  • We had an excellent stay at Sarah's home. She was welcoming, helpful and friendly and full of useful local information. We were made tea and biscuits on arrival and had tea/coffee making facilities in both bedrooms. Also a lovely breakfast in the morning. The house is warm and comfortable and we had exclusive use of the bathroom. A lovely pub that serves good food was within walking distance and other eating out options are available in the village. We would definitely recommend this Airbnb.

    Elizabeth2017-06-07T00:00:00Z
  • Sarah is awesome!! I mentioned that I was interested in seeing some of the Peak District, and she had a neighbor pop over with a map of some really cool walking trails nearby. Also, her dog Finn is such a sweetie! He barks a bit at first, but is so much fun to pet!

    Sophie2017-06-23T00:00:00Z
  • My sister and I stayed with Sarah as we were visiting the RHS Chatsworth Flower Show and we wanted to stay longer to see other places of interest in the beautiful Peak District. Sarah’s house is ideally located to visit many places including Bakewell, Chatsworth House and the Monsal Trail very easily by car. Sarah made us feel very welcome and even prior to our trip was extremely helpful. Her breakfasts were wonderful and her homemade jams and rhubarb and yoghurt were delicious. Finn the dog is adorable and we loved having him around. We would love to return to explore the area more in the future. Thanks very much Sarah for being such a great host!

  • Sarah was a perfect host, very helpful and kind. She went way beyond what I would expect of an airbnb host. The room she provided was comfortable and the facilities clean and exactly as needed. The location is excellent for exploring the peaks.

  • As a lone traveller I wondered if staying in someone's home may be a little awkward but I have to say Sarah is so welcoming she puts you at ease straight away. Parwich is a beautiful White Peak village situated in the Peak District National Park. The houses are predominantly built of limestone, a brook runs through the village creating two ponds one of which was historically the sheep wash. The other pond is at the gate to Nethergreen Farm and is visited by frogs, dragonflies, moorhens, ducks, herons and occasionally a kingfisher. The swallows which nest in the buildings at Nethergreen Farm can be seen swooping low on the pond catching their food. Although no longer a farm, there is a brood of free range hens which includes two cockerels. Sheep graze in the field behind the house and Archie the cat considers it his duty to welcome all to Nethergreen Farm. From the skylight windows in your room you have an excellent view of Parwich Hill. Should you be visiting during our Wakes week, you could even participate in the annual hill race!
Parwich is a friendly village and has a pub which serves food and a Legion which welcomes visitors. It is ideally placed for visiting many of the attractions in the Peak District including Carsington Water, Chatsworth, Dovedale and several market towns. The Peak District is renowned for it's scenery with walking and cycling much favoured pastimes. Parwich is situated on the Limestone Way.

  • We were Fiona's first visitors from airbnb and I can safely say its a wonderful place to stay! Fiona's house is a beautiful old farmhouse that has been refurbished to a high standard. It's situated at the edge of a picturesque Peak District village and Fiona was full of recommendations for local places to see and restaurants to visit. The room itself was bright, clean and comfortable with a great bed and excellent bathroom. Tea and coffee making facilities with toast and fruit were a very nice touch. We also loved the chickens and had an excellent welcome from Archie, the slightly geriatric but very friendly cat. Thanks for having us, we would gladly stay again and best of luck with your airbnb adventures! Abby and Dave

Silk Cottage is situated on the edge of Eyam, commonly known as The Plague Village. The cottage is a lovely retreat, somewhere to get away from the stresses of life. Whether you want to enjoy the many physical activities available to you within the Peak District, or to just sit and relax looking out onto open countryside... Silk Cottage is perfectly located.
Detached, and with it's own parking space to the rear, the cottage was formally part of an old silk mill built in 1735, and is now converted into a well appointed cottage sleeping two people. The mill was where Ralph Wain discovered how to weave silk on both sides in 1785. In the apex of one of the walls is a pigeon loft which was used by carrier pigeons to send messages to suppliers of silk in Macclesfield. The cottage looks out up to Eyam Edge - the dividing line between the White and Dark Peak areas - making it an ideal base to explore the entire Peak District. To the rear, up Tideswell Lane, are gentle walks with paths over small walled fields. Whatever your reason for visiting the Peak District, Silk Cottage provides you with homely, well appointed accommodation, in a picturesque setting.

  • Brian and Linda were fantastic hosts and a wonderful couple to stay with. They made us feel very welcome in their home and the breakfasts in the morning were delicious! (definitely try the oatcake). The picture of the room doesn't do it justice, it is very light and airy with a clean, modern en suite. There is a lot to do in the local area and it is a great place for a weekend getaway. Brian even lent us some bikes to use along the disused railway line which runs along the back of their house. We would highly recommend staying here and would love to stay again Sophie & Sam

  • Hi Brian and Linda, We really cannot thank you enough for our beautiful stay with you this weekend. If anything, the description undersold the warmth you are greeted with and we left feeling like family hopeful to return soon. The location is beautiful and completely relaxing and picturesque on the water, with all of the comforts of home and a well lush room (including the massive bath which was so welcoming after a long day of cycling!). While inviting and happy to chat or share some local tips and advice, Brian and Linda were also happy to leave us to our own time - fully appreciating that fine line that so many other B&B owners lack. Would recommend 100% and hope to return

  • This was an absolutely fantastic stay for us. Brian and Linda were incredibly welcoming and attentive. The house and room in which we stayed were immaculate and the breakfast truly was to die for! Thank you for all that you did for us. Take care. Tara and Mike.

  • My husband and I came to the Peak District for a few days walking with our dog. The Lodge is perfectly situated for visiting the beautiful surroundings and it was lovely to be on a working farm. Andrew made us feel very welcome and was happy for our dog to go on the field with his cows (v friendly!). The Lodge is small but had everything we needed and was cosy, warm and comfortable, perfect for the two of us. Stunning views and sunrises - we were undoubtedly lucky with the pleasant autumn days but even with the first frost of winter had no idea how cold it was till we stepped outside. Thoroughly recommended !

    Nicola2016-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • An amazing break in the countryside. Was great waking up and seeing the sheep in the field the sunsets were absolutely beautiful. Hosts very friendly and efficient. I will definitely book again. It was pretty cold outside but the underfloor heating is very cosy and the Christmas tree made it even more so.

    Julie2016-12-25T00:00:00Z
  • Superb little hideaway with the most glorious views especially sunrise. Everything you could want for a short break and lively and cosy. Great scenery and walks nearby and Sheffield and Chesterfield close too. Really appreciated being able to walk the dog in the fields beside the lodge. All access instructions clear and easy to follow. Very pleased with booking.

    Sue2017-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • What a fab stay! Location & accommodation was more than we could of hoped for. There are some fab pubs and restaurants close by (short drive). It was a really good base for us to get out into the peaks. We only met Andrew once and otherwise we were left to our own devices (just what we wanted) but knew he was only a phone call away for anything needed. Highly recommended, in fact I've already sent the link to a few friends and family. We will be back.

    Jessica2017-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • Great place with stunning views! Fun weekend had walking the dog in such a beautiful area. Very cosy place to return to after a day out in the rain. Highly recommend

    David2017-01-15T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful two night stay in the lodge where we woke up to the most beautiful sunrises across the fields each morning. The accommodation had everything we could have possibly needed, it was very well equipped and we (and the dog!) felt very at home. Thank you Andrew for your hospitality and your great little lodge! We loved the Peak District and I'm sure we will be back.

    Lydia2016-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • The lodge itself was exactly as described, basic but had everything you need and kept in good condition (and the bed was super comfy!). What makes this place extra special is the setting; the view was incredible and because the lodge is on a working farm, we were surrounded by fields with sheep and horses, which we loved! We were very much left to our own devices by the hosts, which suited us down to the ground, but when we briefly met Andrew he was very kind and welcoming and always available if we needed him. We have already recommended this place to our friends and will continue to do so, as we had a fantastic stay!

    Yasmin2017-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • The place was reasonably easy to find , so long as you have a gps , Andrews instructions were good . The accommodation was clean & comfortable , whilst it was on a working farm it was very private & quite
