Diddlebury Holiday Rentals

Just booked in Diddlebury

Diddlebury is a picturesque village in the quiet and beautiful Corve Valley. Ideal accommodation for wedding guests at nearby Delbury Hall, or as a base for a relaxing holiday in this fascinating and unspoilt rural area.
We invite you to stay in our modern eco house, super-insulated and powered, as far as possible, by solar energy. We are situated on a quiet lane within the Diddlebury Conservation Area and next to the Delbury Hall estate. It is surrounded by beautiful gardens, which are managed as a wildlife habitat and include a wild wooded area and a natural stream. Our main guest room has a double bed with hypoallergenic mattress, and a wash basin. Tea and coffee making facilities are included in the room. You will also have sole use of the adjoining bathroom (accessed via a private landing area). Families are welcome and a single mattress or cot can be added if needed. A single attic room is available so extra friends or family can be accommodated - please ask for details.
Diddlebury lies in the Corve Valley, surrounded by the South Shropshire Hills Area of Oustanding Natural Beauty. The countryside is varied, fantastic for both walking and cycling. We are close to Ludlow, Wenlock Edge, the Church Stretton Hills and the Clee Hills. You will find much to see and do in the area: historic houses, ruined abbeys, amazing gardens, museums, country pubs and fine restaurants. Starting closest to home, a short stroll through the village takes you to the trout fishery and plant nursery at Delbury Hall. On a summer's evening, you might like to walk across the fields to the Sun Inn at Corfton for a hearty meal and a pint local of ale or cider. The Historic Working Farm at Acton Scott (location for the BBC 'Victorian Farm' series) is just 15 minutes drive, and we are just 30 minutes from the famous Ironbridge Gorge World Heritage site. We will be happy to help you make the most of your stay here.
  • A lovely room, with a comfortable bed. Kitty and Garry were very welcoming and gave us information about the local pubs for our evening meal. We walked to The Sun at Corfton which was very pleasant and provided simple but well cooked food. We only stayed one night and didn't ask for a cooked breakfast, but the "simple" breakfast was lovely including a delicious fruit salad. Would definitely recommend this.

  • I stayed here as I had a wedding in Delbury Hall which is a 3 minute walk from the house. Kitty was an excellent host, very welcoming. The room was clean, tidy and a good size with it's own sink and comfortable bed. A lovely breakfast was laid out in the morning and overall it was a thoroughly pleasurable stay.

  • We had a comfortable stay at Kitty's house after attending a wedding nearby. Easy check in arranged and a lovely breakfast in the morning. Thanks!

  • Kitty's home is amazing! Beautifully designed interior and the room/bathroom have everything you need for your stay. We don't have a young child but there was a cot in the room so would be perfect for families too! The breakfast was delicious and Kitty and her partner were extremely kind, friendly and helpful. We would definitely come back to stay again!

  • What a wonderful stay in a beautiful part of Shropshire. The summerhouse is spacious, wonderfully light and a really relaxing space to be in (even with a non sleeping four week old baby!) Thank you for such a warm welcome- the crumpets and all the little treats in the room are a really nice touch. We felt very looked after!

    Becca2016-07-24T00:00:00Z
  • The summerhouse is compact but fully equipped with everything you might need, including cooking equipment. The hosts provided some staples such milk and butter ready for our arrival. It's set in a charming garden and is every bit as delightful as the photos suggest! The hosts were available to show us around despite our evening arrival time, but were equally happy to leave us to our own devices for the duration of our stay. All in all, a great little tranquil escape ideally placed for exploring the beautiful Shropshire countryside. Highly recommended for a couple seeking a relaxing getaway.

  • What a little gem! Even better in real life. Comfortable and well equipped. I would definitely come back.

  • Absolutely lovely little summer house near Ludlow. Would loved to have stayed for longer.

    Will2017-04-17T00:00:00Z
  • We were made to feel very welcome from the moment arrived! We were greeted and showed around the property. The added extras were very welcome after a long journey! The summerhouse had everything we needed and was well appointed. We look forward to going back when we can stay for longer.

    Natasha2016-08-08T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at this charming summerhouse was fantastic. Our host was there to meet us and was tremendously friendly and welcoming, and also provided necessaries such as milk, coffee and homemade preserves. The place was beautifully presented and exactly as described - the local area is stunning, quiet and great for countryside walks and a quiet getaway.

  • Court Cottage was perfect, homely and comfortable. Just what we wanted for our stay in Shropshire. The place was fully kitted out and has absolutely everything you could need for a cosy, peaceful, relaxing time away from the hustle and bustle of city life. The location was great too - 10/15 minutes drive from Ludlow town centre and all the wonderful restaurants it has to offer, as well as the food centre, and of course both Ludlow and Stokesay castles. We would recommend Court Cottage to anyone wanting to visit Shropshire.

  • We really enjoyed our stay at Court Cottage. It is wonderfully well equipped and furnished exceeding our expectations of a short term rental property. The accommodation is comfortable and cosy with everything one might need for an enjoyable stay. Amanda was helpful and prompt with all our communications. Looking forward to returning in the near future. Robin and Liz.

    Robin 2015-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • Court Cottage far exceeded our expectations and we were very impressed by all the effort and good taste that had been utilised to furnish and equip it to such a fine standard. My wife and I enjoyed our brief stay immensely. It is a lovely holiday home in a wonderful area of England.

  • We had a wonderful stay at Court Cottage. It's in a beautiful setting with excellent facilities and luxurious bedding. Amanda was very helpful and accommodating when we became a little lost, would thoroughly recommend!

    Alice2015-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Court Cottage is simply stunning. It is situated in beautiful countryside with walking possible directly from the courtyard. The cottage itself is extremely homely and very well equipped - all home comforts are in abundance; we wanted for nothing. The decor complements the design and the wood burning stove proved a real centrepiece on the one occasion we used it. We met up with friends there for a four night stay and the five us had such a wonderful time we were loathe to leave - there is so much to see and do in the area As no one was arriving on our departure day we were given the opportunity to wander through Amanda's gardens ..... who needs to visit Chelsea when this is on the doorstep? It has been a real privilege to stay here. Thank you.

    Angela2016-05-25T00:00:00Z
  • The house was all that we expected, indeed better, as was the location. Amanda was always quick to answer any queries and the whole process from booking to arrival to departure was very smooth. We can also highly recommend the nearby Ludlow Food Centre and Tally Ho pub.

    Jonathan2016-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • Amanda and Andrews place is quite simply FABULOUS! It's one of the most impressive locations and houses we have ever stayed in. Both Amanda and Andrew went out of their way to make us feel at home and we will most certainly return regularly. I will be recommending this place to all my friends!

Light and airy cottage with white painted floor boards throughout and exposed wooden beams. One double bed in the bedroom although mattress could be provided for couple with kids. Access to main garden with winding paths, sweeping lawns, tennis court and pretty flowing brook. Garden reputedly designed by Edwardian Garden designer Gertrude Jekyll. Chickens freely roam the garden and supply plenty of fresh eggs. Two large trampolines in the paddock and miniature shetland ponies.
The Wain house is extremely light and airy and has been decorated in a simple and stylish way. Private outside area with table and bench to have lunch/drinks. Guests can use the main garden and have access to the tennis court. The grounds are large and very beautiful and it is an extremely peaceful place to stay.
  • Lara and Pete's place is very special. Wain House's Scandi style interior is immediately relaxing. Exposed beams, reclaimed eclectic pieces of furniture and a wood fired stove bring warmth and charm to a clean white interior flooded with light and overlooking stunning grounds. The welcome is easy, charming and warm and very soon you feel at home inside Wain house and the extended grounds. The gardens are breathtakingly beautiful. Wake with a morning chorus of birds and fresh eggs from the troop of chickens who strut about like they own the place. Shropshire countryside begins immediately outside big black barn doors and the walks are very beautiful. This is a happy, creative, friendly place. A place to relax and unwind thanks to the charm of both Wain House and its hosts. I hope to come back but sooner than that I know I will be escaping to this happy place often in my mind.

    AUDREY2017-08-30T00:00:00Z
  • I had a lovely stay in this tranquil annexe in a beautiful part of the country. The Wain House is beautifully decorated, a lovely light and airy space but cosy with the wood burner on! Lara and Peter were friendly and welcoming hosts. The reason for my stay was to find somewhere quiet to write, and I had a productive time - the large dining table in the window with views of trees and sound of birds was the perfect spot to get my scribble on. There is a farm building opposite so there was occasional tractor (and sheep!) noise but otherwise was a very quiet spot. Plenty of room for parking outside the property. The bed was super comfy - probably a little too comfy, so overslept my alarm on a couple of occasions! Kitchen has everything you need, and the little extras like the fresh eggs were a really sweet touch. Culmington is just a few miles from the A49 so it's very easy to get to Ludlow and into the countryside. Ludlow Food Hall is nice for gifts and cake, just a few minutes drive from the house. There's a Co-op with petrol a few minutes away, and Ludlow has a couple of large supermarkets too for provisions. Really felt like home, was sad to leave and would definitely like to return.

  • A lovely cottage in the rolling hillside. Peter could not have been more helpful in the run-up and during the stay. The bed was really comfy, good shower and everything was clean & tidy. Would highly recommend.

  • For my first airbnb experience this was perfect. Lovely relaxed accommodation, comfy bed and great host. Arriving in darkness I didn't get to see the beautiful setting in which the cottage is located until morning. It was a shame to rush off to work!

    Steve2016-06-15T00:00:00Z
  • I booked Peter's venue very last minute to accommodate a member of staff for a retreat in the Shropshire hills. His communication was brilliant from the beginning, never had to ask for anything. Would definitely book again. Many thanks!

  • Lovely home in the middle of the beautiful Shropshire hills. The house is warm and inviting and is the perfect little get away. We got married a day after leaving Peters house and felt really relaxed and excited to be in the heart of Shropshire. Peter was away during our stay but we had great communication throughout and he was super relaxed with us having the cottage to ourselves, he left loads of information for the place so we settled in straight away. We wish Peter all the best for his awesome music career and will be coming to stay in Shropshire again for our anniversary in the future.

  • An excellent rural stay with an enthusiastic and friendly host.

    Kenneth2017-05-21T00:00:00Z
  • I stayed at Peter's cottage for 3 nights whilst attending a local festival and absolutely loved it. Peter is a very friendly, welcoming and helpful host and very generous with his space. I felt totally relaxed here. It is blissfully quiet and just as described nestled amidst stunning countryside. The room is cosy and the bed very comfy. I slept really well. I'd definitely stay here again and recommend it others!

  • I really enjoyed my brief stay with Peter. He is a very personable and hospitable host. If you are looking for a gorgeous, quiet place in the Shropshire countryside which seems further off the beaten track than it actually is, this is the place for you. Thanks Peter.

  • Helen and Rob are really friendly and if you need a help, it's not a problem to ask them. The room is lovely. It is in the separate part of the house, so we had privacy. The bathroom is for guests rooms (which basically means, that if you will be lucky as we were, you will have private bathroom :) ). Everything was absolutely clean. The kitchenette was equipped with tea, coffee, sugar and milk. Helen offered us to wash laundry. Everything was excellent, we were always looking forward to coming back from our trips in Shropshire, which provides countless opportunities for trips. We were satisfied with this accommodation at all, I can only recommend!

    Jakub2017-08-14T00:00:00Z
  • Very clean and tidy room in a spacious manor. The bathroom was also specklessly clean and everything seemed new or very well looked after. There were also some kitchen facilities to make (continental) breakfast. The location is perfect for hiking and trails basically start at the very doorstep. However it is quite hard to reach without a car and nearby places to go to in the evening or get some food are very limited. Our host however was very kind and helpful! We really enjoyed our stay and were happy to have chosen this particular place. Thanks a lot for the stay!

The Hayloft is situated in the grounds of the stunning Rushbury Manor an Elizabethan house in the heart of the South Shropshire Hills, an area of outstanding natural beauty. The Hayloft is an oak framed barn beautifully furnished and has views across Ape Dale towards the Long Mynd.
Relax and unwind under the hand crafted, traditionally build cruck oak frame and escape from it all or if you prefer cycling, country walks or more challenging hikes are all possible straight from the door. Take in the spectacular views of the Shropshire Hills from the secluded garden or venture out to try the abundance of local food and real ales or just walk the 1/2 mile to our local pub.
The location lends itself to exploring the local area by foot, bike or car; we have lived in the area for a long time and are happy to help you make the most of your stay. We can help you with walking routes, places to visit such as Ironbridge, local restaurants, places to cycle; off road or on quite country lanes. The South Shropshire hills are on the border between England and Wales, it is a perfect place for a quick retreat away from busy life. If you like history, food or outdoor activities the local area has got it in spades; the many castles and other fortifications (including one just over the road from the Hayloft) tell the tale of border conflicts. Shropshire was the birth place of Darwin, the modern Olympic games and the industrial revolution which has been carefully preserved at the Ironbridge museums, only a few miles away however it is almost as if it never happened. You are not far from great restaurants and places to go out, in particular Ludlow is renowned for its food and festivals and has two restaurants with Michelin stars.
  • This is a lovely place to stay in a beautiful area with very welcoming, helpful hosts. Highly recommended!

  • Come wind, rain, sunshine or Storm Aileen the beautiful timber framed Tardis-like Hayloft offers the most perfect retreat for our ever busy lives. Nestled there below Wenlock Edge it is perfect too for those who wish to immerse their senses in the glory that is Shropshire's ancient landscape. My thanks to Simon and Kara for allowing us to share in the wonders of Rushbury Manor.

    Paul2017-09-13T00:00:00Z
  • Just have returned from a lovely few days stay at the Hayloft. We found the studio clean, warm and extremely comfortable. It was in a brilliant position for exploring the surrounding area with all it's outdoor opportunities. A fantastic place to get away from it all with a high degree of privacy. Would not hesitate to visit again.

    Claire2017-09-06T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at The Hayloft for 3 nights over the BH weekend and had a lovely break. The accommodation is open plan which makes it look more spacious than the photos. The outdoor patio had the sun until early evening and had great views. Lots to do as this is well placed for visiting many of the lovely towns around particularly Ludlow & Shrewsbury. Walks straight up onto Wenlock Edge from the cottage and Rushbury is vey pretty. Kara and Simon were great hosts, welcoming and available for local information. Thank you for the welcome pack which was unexpected considering we were only staying for a short break. Would highly recommend for anyone who likes rural accommodation with peace and quiet.

    Andrea2017-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • We had an amazing time in The Hayloft its a really tranquil and comfortable space. The location is beautiful and quiet but still very close to lovely towns and loads of things to do in the countryside like cycling and walking. The Hayloft is really nicely furnished, super clean and Simon and Kara we're great hosts. Simon even recommended cycle routes ahead of our visit. Would definitely recommend and would stay again!

    Dorothy2017-09-19T00:00:00Z
  • Having stayed at the hayloft myself a couple of weekends ago and thoroughly enjoyed my stay and surrounding areas, I booked the hayloft for my parents to go and stay there - who also had a great time. The loft its self if really is a gem and if you are looking for relaxation this is the place for it, however it also offers great access to the delights of Ludlow, Shrewsbury, Much Wenlock, Bridge North, Ironbridge.

  • Janice gave me such a warm welcome at her lovely home. The room was cosy, clean with a very comfy bed and everything I needed. Janice cooked me a delicious meal on my arrival and a great breakfast. The location is beautiful with lovely countryside surrounding the house. I had a private bathroom just next to the bedroom and also had tea and coffee making facilities. I would definitely recommend this as a great place to stay especially if you are looking for somewhere quiet and peaceful with lovely surroundings. Thanks Janice!

  • Janice and Jerry's home is just BEAUTIFUL! You occasionally come across places which feel like home immediately... this is one of them. Every room is finished to perfection with an eclectic mix of lovely items and Janice's art work (which is incredible!). The Airbnb room is up it's own set of stairs at the other end of the kitchen, so it kind of feels like your own place really. The decor, bedding, towels etc are all of such lovely quality.... you won't be disappointed! This was our first 'private room' Airbnb stay, and it will definitely make us more open to the private room option in the future. We had a nice chat with Janice and Jerry upon arrival, and they couldn't have been more helpful.... plus, she made us a cake!! The way to my heart... Thank you again so much Janice and Jerry. I hope to visit again at some point in the future - you made us feel so very welcome, and your place is just.... inspirational. A true Airbnb gem!

  • Janice and Jeremy were great hosts! Both very friendly and welcoming! Room was clean and the bed was very comfortable! The room and bathroom is private to the rest of the house. The pub is only 2 minutes away and the local village hall is 10 at most! Perfect location for a wedding at the local village hall!

  • We attended a Wedding at Wistanstow Village Hall and Janice's place was extremely convenient. The room and bathroom were clean and comfortable and we shared a lovely breakfast with Janice and her husband who were both very kind and friendly. Lola the dog was adorable too!

The area was beautiful and great cycle terrain, it was a bonus that the pub is just across the road that serves lovely food... we will definitely be going back...thanks Janice and Jerry.

Black Sheep Barn is a luxurious two bedroom converted barn situated near Ludlow in a remote, undiscovered pocket of the Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. We have just finished converting the barn and it is now open - from October 2017. Explore miles of hill, wild heath and forest or sit on the terrace and enjoy fifty mile views across the small holding to the edge of the Black Mountains and Welsh border. We think it is a special place and we hope you will think so too.
You will have the whole of Black Sheep Barn to yourselves. This includes a small wooden decking area and two parking spaces. The barn is adjacent to our house on a small holding with sheep, chickens and vegetable garden. Neither property can be seen from the other and you have plenty of privacy whilst still having an amazing view out over the fields and hills to the horizon. There is a log burner, underfloor heating and electric radiators to heat the property. Porch/Boot room Enter through a porch and boot room, with underfloor heating to help dry your muddy boots and water proof jackets after a good exploration of the hill. There is also a washing machine and sink here together with space to dry some washing. This is a good place to leave a dog when you go out, should you choose to. Living area Get your slippers on and descend the couple of steps down into the main living area. This consists of dining and lounge areas which open out onto a wooden decking where you might wish to sit and watch the sun set. The dining area has a table and four chairs. The lounge has two sofas around a wood burning stove, with a TV and hi-fi. The hi-fi is old but has a mini jack lead for you to plug your phone in. There is a wall of shelves with board games and books for you to borrow. Kitchen and shower room Climb a few steps to the kitchen, shower room and bedrooms. The kitchen and bathroom have heated floors to warm your feet on a cold winter's morning. The kitchen overlooks the living area, making keeping an eye on children easier. It has all pots, pans and utensils you should need. There is a kettle, toaster, electric oven and hob, dishwasher, fridge and microwave oven. The shower room has a large, walk in shower with drencher and standard heads, toilet, basin and heated towel rail. A baby bath is available should this be useful to you. Bedrooms Bedroom one has a timber clad wall, made from timber that once clad the back of the barn. There is a window looking up the hill, king size bed, chair, hanging space and drawers for your clothes. Bedroom two also has a window looking up the hill. It has two single beds which can be pushed together to make a super king size bed. Please let us know in advance if this is the arrangement you would prefer. There are drawers and hanging space for your clothes.
Black Sheep Barn is up high on the side of Brown Clee Hill. This is part of the Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The lovely town of Ludlow is a twenty five minute drive away, with independent shops and plenty of eating options. It is a town that prides itself on locally sourced, high quality food. There is a castle overlooking the river, riverside walks and plenty of pubs. Alternatively you could leave your car parked outside the barn and explore a Brown Clee Hill. You can step straight from the barn into miles of open access land, meaning you can roam where you wish. The hill is used by a few walkers, horse riders and mountain bikers but usually we have it to ourselves. Ancient woodland, panoramic views and an Iron Age hill fort are all within walking distance. Wild horses roam the hill side, Buzzards, Ravens and Red Kites soar overhead. In the summer, migratory birds inhabit the reeds and gorse. If you are lucky there are deer to be found in the woods. If you want a longer walk you could follow the Shropshire Way or head over the hill to the pub for some lunch.

  • We booked this cottage as we needed accommodation for a family wedding in the area and decided to make a long weekend of it. It was perfect for our needs and just as described but I think nicer than it looks in the photos. Pamela was really helpful providing information before and during our stay and was a very flexible host, even letting us know about an overnight road closure in the area and giving recommendations for places to eat. The location is very good and convenient for the many lovely places in the area. Thanks Pamela for a very comfortable stay.

Close to the historic town of Ludlow we live in an old stone farmhouse with lots of character and lots to offer families and adults. We have 2 bedrooms with their own bathrooms, a real farmhouse kitchen and a welcoming lounge to relax in. There is plenty of space for kids to run around, have views from the garden and walks from the doorstep. Hiking boots, bikes, wellies and kids are all welcome, so too single travellers looking for something different.
The space used to be two bedrooms but we partially knocked them through so it is more akin to being in a suite with the double bed in one half and the daybed and ensuite bathroom in the other. There is partial privacy but if you prefer more privacy please look at our other listing-West Farm 2 bedroom sleeps 5.
  • Jill and Neil were perfect hosts. They were so welcoming and friendly and were even unfazed about our early start and made us a lovely cooked breakfast. The room was spacious and an absolute delight. We highly recommend them and will definitely be back next time we are in Ludlow. Thank you Jill and Neil

    Neil2017-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • I had a wonderful stay! Jill and Neil, accompanied by Willie an Grace, are the perfect hosts. I had a terrific solo journey for a short holiday thanks to them. I hope to return some time, as soon as I can.

  • Jill and Neil went out of their way to welcome my daughter and I (two very tired travelers) to their charming West Farm. The accommodations were outstanding with the most comfortable beds, beautifully clean bathroom, and great food. They did everything to ensure we had a wonderful stay in their home.

  • Fantastic stay with Jill and Neil - lovely, clean farmhouse which is well situated for exploring Shropshire. My daughter adored the dogs and visiting the farm next door. Delicious breakfast was a great bonus! Thank you for hosting us so warmly!

  • Jill and Neil's home is gloriously idyllic - the room is stunning with a fabulous vaulted ceiling and exposed beams, spacious, immaculate, warm and bright. The private bathroom is new and spotless, we couldn't have hoped for more. The rural setting is breathtakingly beautiful, we enjoyed a wonderful walk and a visit to the farm. Jill and Neil are incredible hosts, so kind and brilliant fun. We were made to feel part of the family from the moment we arrived and very much hope to return. We couldn't recommend it highly enough, thank you.

    Alison2017-03-26T00:00:00Z
  • The perfect place to stay in this lovely part of the world. Jill and Neil have recently listed their home on Airbnb and already they have achieved five stars (in our eyes). You could not ask for more from your hosts - warm, friendly, happy, generous, kind and very helpful (above & beyond). They made us feel completely at home, as if we had known them for years and were part of the family. The house and gardens are beautiful, the rooms are spacious, clean, well decorated and extremely comfortable. The cooked breakfast was delicious (one of the best we've had) and the many cups of tea were most appreciated. Overall we could not have asked for a better location, house and hosts. Thank You Jill & Neil we loved our short stay with you and would love to come back for a longer stay next time. Also we must quickly mention Wally the dog, who kept our little boy Hugo happy and entertained. Thank you Wally! Tim, Susie & Hugo :)

  • What a wonderful warm welcome we received from Krafft. The cottage was as described and it was clean and cozy so much so that we didn't want to leave it to go out to eat! We cooked and had everything we needed, well equipped kitchen. The bed was extremely comfortable. The cottage is located in a peaceful and quiet location surrounded by the beautiful Shropshire countryside. • The experience at Farm Cottage was exactly as expected - relaxing and peaceful - just the perfect place to go to unwind if you appreciate a quiet and calm country life. If you're a couple, you'll definitely enjoy this little hideout. The host is lovely. Very friendly, great communicator, approachable but non intrusive at the same time. He provided clear instructions on how to get to the cottage, gave us a nice tour of the place and great advise on local attractions to be seen. Had a great time! would definitely visit again.

  • We had a really good time at Tracey and Alex house! We've stayed 2 nights in the summer house, a fantastic and lovely room lost at the back of the garden. We had the feeling to be alone, surrounded by a beautiful garden and facing the in-construction tree-house. The breakfast was delicious, and both Alex and Tracey were very welcome and very kind. I really recommend their place and will definitely go back to this perfect heaven next time I will go around Ludlow!

    Marie2015-06-09T00:00:00Z
  • This was our 1st Airbnb experience and it was fab. Tracey and Alex are lovely hosts. They made us, (including our old dog) feel so welcome. The Summerhouse was an idyllic retreat and the garden is so beautiful. We had a lovely stay, thank you.

    Steve2016-07-02T00:00:00Z
  • A pot of tea to welcome us, and a fab breakfast the next morning! The summer house is a cosy love nest :)

  • Tracey was lovely, welcoming and very helpful. The summerhouse was a lovely getaway, very private and quiet. Ludlow is the nearest town, it's very beautiful and has some amazing old buildings. Tracey organised a taxi for us to go and have our dinner in town. Would highly recommend staying here for a relaxing escape.

    Hannah2016-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • We had such a fun weekend staying in the Summer house. It's a perfect spot, very comfortable and clean with very friendly and helpful hosts...and in the most idyllic location! We would highly recommend.

    Charlie2017-04-09T00:00:00Z
  • The summerhouse was a lovely place to spend mid-summer's evening and we were well looked after. It was fun to explore the treehouse too.

    Simon2017-06-22T00:00:00Z
  • Tracey and Alex could not have been better hosts. They were so friendly and interested in us and our travels, and shared great stories of their travels with us. Tracey responded to my request for a booking within two minutes!. We arrived an hour later than we advised because of traffice but it was no trouble to them. The summer house was exactly as described. The bed was incredibly comfortable. The beautiful gardens were a joy to sit amongst on the wooden boardwalk. We even climbed the treehouse. The en-suite and kitchen area were very small but served the purpose. The summer house looks cute and quaint from the outside, but it is more than that on the inside; it is quite luxurious. And the breakfast was to die for and a very reasonable price. The best brekky we've had so far on our holiday. Tracey recommended a walk through the town/village of Ludlow and we were so glad we did. It is the most amazing place. Wish we could have spent more time there.

    Carol2016-06-09T00:00:00Z
  • We felt very welcome on arrival, was showed to the summer house (it was nice that you don't have to go through the house to access it). Alex bought us a fresh jug of milk in case we wanted tea or coffee, which was a nice touch. The photos don't do justice to the beautiful garden, and it was lovely just sitting on the decking. We slept well. The breakfast was wonderful, my husband thought it was the "best b&b breakfast" he'd had. We didn't want to leave.

My cottage is the converted stable of Sally, the pony belonging to the children of author Malcolm Saville, of Lone Pine fame. It is a perfect space for a peaceful, cosy getaway, built of solid Ludlow stone and has lots of character. My garden is full of birds which visit the many feeders and are wonderful to watch from the porch area of the property. The cottage nestles within the large garden. A great base for walking the Shropshire hills and for getting away from it all. Amenities 3 miles.
Super-comfortable king-sized bedroom looking out to views of the Long Mynd; kitchen, bathroom, sitting room -cum-dining room; books, dvd's, wifi, outer porch with table and chairs; bird food supplied-please ask- the garden is visited by all sorts of birds including goldfinches, woodpeckers, long-tailed tits, many different finches etc, sometimes pheasants parade with their wives in the garden. I am happy to host you for three nights minimum stay. The bed is made up with high quality bedding from The White Company or equivalent, and you will be lulled to sleep under a goose-down duvet and sumptuous pillows. There is also an electric blanket for chillier winter nights. In low-season I can offer two nights minimum but ask that you bring your own linen. Towels are provided.

  • Very clean room and separate bathroom. So many thoughtful additions like umbrellas, torches, phone charging cables, home made biscuits, real coffee and decaf! Quiet location and lovely view from windows. Own patio. The walk into town takes about 20 minutes on the way down and probably a bit longer on the way up the quite steep hill, but it's a lovely walk. Church Stretton has some very good places to eat and it's a good central location, between Shrewsbury and Ludlow.

  • Great place to stay to enjoy the beautiful surrounding area. Very comfortable and private accommodation in a self-contained flat. Thoughtful touches like USB chargers and fresh milk, tea and coffee. We loved our stay.

  • Lovely room just on the edge of Church Stretton. Had everything we needed. Lovely homemade biscuits and good selection of tea and coffee. Thank very much.

  • Hazler Lodge more than met our needs and Bridget was an excellent host. The location is just outside the town and up a hill (not far and not too steep) and Bridget kindly gave us a lift from the station which meant we avoided the rain. The bedroom was very comfortable, had its own bathroom, and felt quite private, despite being adjoined to the house (has its own front door), and we appreciated the extra touches eg homemade biscuits. Would definitely recommend, thanks Bridget!

Designed with luxury & pampering in mind. You can enjoy wonderful views, through the trees, of the Long Mynd & Church Stretton. It's this mix of seclusion yet close proximity to local amenities that really sets us apart. Search for Oaks Retreat in Shropshire on Trip Advisor and read the wonderful reviews left by our guests. PLEASE NOTE: Our prices are higher on Airbnb due to the Extenuating Circumstances Policy, feel free to chose the booking platform that best suits your requirements.
For more guest opinions about Oaks Retreat please take a look at all our reviews on Trip Adviser. Please call or text - O seventy-seven eighty-two, then 25, 92 and thirty-one - or 'Contact the Owner' and Sara will happily discuss your requirements. Welcome to Oaks Retreat, your luxury lodge nestled in a 1/3 acre woodland dingle beneath a canopy of oak trees. Unwind in your Jacuzzi spa, surrounded by the natural beauty of mature oaks and the lodge's modern western red cedar cladding, whilst listening to the soothing background trickle of the stream as it meanders beneath you. Sit back and relax with an evening drink on the composite decking, warmed by the Burda electric heater, and enjoy the beautiful surroundings before searing a steak or marshmallow over the traditional Indian Kadai fire bowl, complete with cooking grill. Oaks Retreat is accessed from a dedicated parking area by a gravel path (approximately 80m long) located along the lower level of the owners' secluded, tiered garden. As you walk along the pathway, lit by floor level LEDs, through carefully chosen shrubs and planted slopes and pass through a gateway of two magnificent oak trees, you gain your first glimpse of the lodge; the elevated balcony and front windows with the stream below flowing gently from the waterfall behind. It's a truly unique, magical and private space and yet only a short walk into Church Stretton town with its eateries, independent specialist shops and attractions. After a day's activities you can retreat into your personal haven and relax. Oaks Retreat has been designed with luxury and pampering in mind, yet is offered with a realistic price tag. We want you to enjoy your stay with us, whether you are planning a romantic retreat or mini-moon, an activity break or simply some time to yourselves. From your elevated private balcony and hot tub, you can enjoy wonderful views, through the trees, of the Long Mynd and areas of the town. It's hard to believe that the tranquility of Oaks Retreat is only five minutes' walk away from the train station and a few minutes more from the centre of Church Stretton. It's this mix of seclusion yet close proximity to local amenities that really sets Oaks Retreat apart. We believe the little things make the biggest memories. Inside, we have striven to provide everything you might expect from a luxurious getaway: underfloor heating, a cosy flame fire, a fully-equipped kitchen, powerful rain shower, super king bed, outdoor Jacuzzi, and a fire bowl and BBQ are just some of the touches that we believe will make your stay extra special. As we are a small, family run enterprise, we are always on hand to give you advice, if wanted and help, when needed. Our goal is to ensure that you have an unforgettable time at Oaks Retreat. We have recently partnered with MyPersonalSanctuary where you can book spa treatments to be taken at Oaks Retreat to make your stay even more special so please take a look. • We had an excellent stay at the lodge, the inside is beautifully decorated with luxury essentials such as coffee machine, big bed, heated floors etc , noticeable touches that make a stay memorable. The hot tub was really fun & you feel very secluded but with the safety and security of being on someone's land. The fire pit was brilliant for cooking steaks and we roasted marshmallows in the evening. The surrounding area is quaint and perfect for walks, hikes Sara was the perfect hostess with the mostess and made as feel really welcome and went above and beyond to get to know us as people & not just visitors/guests. We spent our trip alone but knew she was on hand to help with anything we needed, There were a number of times when we both agreed she went above & beyond. Very special stay & will be back again soon. :)

  • Jane's flat was spacious, comfortable and clean. Communication prior to my arrival was clear, prompt and helpful. Check in was friendly and informative. Equipped with microwave, toaster, mini-oven, fridge and kettle the flat allowed for completely self-sufficient catering. There was also a TV, books and games. Jane left, tea, coffee, milk and fruit and provided towels. The bed was of good quality, soft, but supportive. The bath was large and there was a reliable supply of very hot water - excellent after a day walking in the surrounding hills.

    The Garden Flat

Henley Hall is a Grade II* listed house originally built by the Powys family in the 17th century, located in stunning estate land 2 miles from Ludlow. The Archway Flat has access to a beautiful walled garden with seating areas and access to the grounds with the Ledwyche river running through. The flat has 3 bedrooms (2 with double beds / 1 with 2 single beds or a king size bed), 2 bathrooms with showers, a fully fitted kitchen. The lounge has 2 sofas, dining area, TV and internet access.
  • We had a lovely Easter break at Henley Hall, 6 adults and two small children. The grounds are magnificent and we were able to wander freely. We even managed a few games of tennis (balls and racquets provided). Henley Hall is a great place for a family to stay. Ludlow is a lovely little town and only 2 miles drive from Henley Hall. Thank you Helen and Sebastian for making us feel so welcome.

    Patsy2017-04-18T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our stay at Henley Hall. The flat was amazing it was everything we could have wanted. It was well equipped, clean, comfortable and secluded (but also not at all far from Ludlow village!) The grounds were lovely to give the dogs their morning walk. Our hosts Helen and Seb were also great. They were very welcoming and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble. I would recommend Henley Hall to all as it is an absolute gem. Thank you for a lovely stay!

    Charlotte2016-06-13T00:00:00Z
  • I would highly recommend a stay at Henley Hall. We were a large group of 3 couples and one baby, alongside our dogs. Communication before our stay was fantastic and we were amazed by the beautiful grounds on our arrival. The grounds are breathtaking and Helen and Seb were kind enough to let us wonder around them at our leisure. It's no surprise to hear the hall will be a wedding venue in the future. We also used the tennis courts (in the pouring rain) and we were kindly told to use available equipment. The 'flat' is two storey and perfect for what we needed. Immaculate, everything excellent quality but at the same time low maintenence wooden floors with lovely fluffy rugs (perfect to roll to one side away from the dogs for us). The location is great with ludlow is a short car journey away. Helen, Seb and the family were such lovely hosts, we felt very welcome and absolutely loved our stay. We definitely plan to return in the future.

    Kayleigh2016-06-28T00:00:00Z
  • This place is stunning. The pictures don't actually do it justice. The flat is adorable -- very comfortable -- and the garden, grounds, tennis courts, and countryside are spectacular. Helen & Seb are warm & welcoming and very helpful. A trio of friendly cats in the courtyard is a bonus. We highly recommend this place.

    Stephanie2016-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • Helen and Seb were the perfect hosts and we had a wonderful stay at Archway Flat celebrating my father-in-law's 70th birthday. The flat is set in beautiful grounds which provided a peaceful setting to relax and unwind. Would definitely recommend to others who wish to get away from it all in Shropshire.

    Libby2016-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • The Archway Flat, based in the picturesque grounds of Henley Hall, provided a fantastic gateway into the Shropshire countryside. We were privileged to be the first to stay! Seb and his family were fantastic hosts, and really took the time to tell us about the area and what was on. The flat was clean, well decorated, comfortable and had everything that we needed. It was close to the pretty town of Ludlow, which offered some nice restaurants and coffee shops. You can also get to Brecon Beacons within an hour and a half. We would certainly recommend it to anyone looking to explore that part of the country!

    Alex2016-05-31T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed our stay in peaceful and beautiful surroundings. Great to be able to take the dog and lots of walking in the grounds.

    Elaine2016-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • Archway flat was lovely, very clean and well equipped, and in beautiful peaceful surroundings. My young son loved using the tennis courts in the grounds of Henley Hall and walking along the river there. There's plenty to do in the local area too and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Helen was most welcoming and we hope to stay there again.
