Jazz Club

“Incredible live music venue. Built in the 1920's, Cliff Bell's saw the roaring 20's and was a part of the burgeoning scene in the Paris of the West. Mahogany detailing and vintage crescent booth seating, this venue laid dormant and was re-opened with much applause later in the century. It is now a great scene for live music and wonderful entertainment.”

“Owned by local chefs and entrepreneurs of color, this spot is consistently listed as one of the best brunch spots in the city. Plenty of vegetarian options, great portions, unique dishes and an impressive list of Benedicts. For carnivores the Duck Bop - an Asian inspired Eggs Benedict on an ample bed of lightly fried potatoes - is highly recommended. Reasonably priced and with a great atmosphere, this place is beyond satisfying. ”

“Check out their website because this photo tells you nothing about how awesome this restaurant environment is. It's set in a historic fire hall, which recently became a very chic hotel called The Foundation Hotel in Detroit. Another incredible new offering in the revitalized city. I remember when this building was for sale for $500,000 in 2011. Crazy right! Definitely worth stopping in for a cafe or a cocktail to check out what they've done. My husband and I had a date night here recently and the food was fantastic. ”

“Elevated, seasonal pub food pairs with craft beer, wine & brown spirits in a hip, rustic-chic space. Located in Downtown Detroit, Republic Tavern delivers a modern take on an old world tavern experience with an emphasis on nose-to-tail eating. In 2015 Republic Tavern was awarded with Best New Restaurant by Eater Magazine. Working closely with local farmers allows menu to ebb and flow with Michigan’s seasons. By partnering with local Michigan suppliers they identify the best ingredients available and use those ingredients as an inspiration for their constantly evolving menu. Drinks are taken with equal care featuring natural wines, craft beers, and premium whiskey options.”
