Just booked in Drynoch

An original Skye Croft House, stunning position overlooking Loch Harport & the Cuillins.Just a 3 minute drive from the village of Carbost with its Old Inn & Talisker Distillery, mix of old with modern & of course the essential log fire
Bright, , not a drop of tartan in sight, a calm house with lots of space for 4, room enough for the children inside and a private garden for them to burn off energy,, for older kids and adults the land all around is open access, just remember its "working" land so you will share it with sheep!
Absolute silence, the constantly changing light on the water and mountains.
  • A fantastic house and host - we had a really lovely stay here- it's just as described/seen, beautifully designed and furnished, and incredibly comfortable/relaxing. Lots of very thoughtful attention to detail, with stunning views over the Loch and out towards the Cuillins. Grant is as mentioned, a fantastic host, very welcoming, helpful and friendly - we would love to return to his house one day and would recommend it very highly. Having stayed in many other rentals over the years, this one is already a favourite. Hope to see you again Grant, it was lovely to meet you - thanks again for our stay!

  • We had a great time in Grants House. Everything was exactly as described or even better. The house is located in a really beautiful landscape. It is very well equipped, clean, tastefully furnished and very cosy. Grant is a kind, humorous and helpful host whom we enjoyed talking to. We definitely would stay here again!

  • Grants house was absolutely great - it was beautiful inside - simple and stylish, warm and comfortable and the views are stunning. Grant made us very welcome -told us what we needed to know and left us to it. There were some lovely features to the house and it was well equipped with all that we needed. The nearby village of Carbost (20 mins walk/5 mins drive) was great, because it has a nice little pub, the distillery and a good starting off point for walks. We had a really relaxing 4 days, combining walking with study (the students) and eating and drinking. We would definitely return and recommend it to others. The Leggett family (30/03/15 - 03/04/15).

  • Beautiful house and lovely view. Nice quiet road near the Talisker distillery if you like whisky! Grant was very friendly and on hand if any questions. Great stay.

  • A wonderful, peaceful, cosy, stylish house. We arrived after a hectic wedding and found it the most amazing place to start our married life! A helpful tip - pick up essential provisions on your way (milk etc). We will definitely be back - best airbnb place we've stated at!

  • Stunning views, in a really nice comfortable apartment. Grant is an awesome host.

    Sam2014-11-07T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing place, views and amenities.

    Laura2017-10-29T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our relaxing stay at Grant’s cottage as part of our honeymoon! Grant was great about communication for check-in and anything else we need, which is always appreciated. It was modern, clean and the bed was very comfortable (making a fire in the wood stove was very cozy one night and the wood was provided), as well as a beautiful waterfront view. The cottage was also in a good location to use as a home base for a few days driving and hiking around the Isle. (Take care on some of the one-lane roads!) We also enjoyed eating at the Old Inn and the Oyster Shed very nearby in Carbost, as well as taking a tour of Talisker. Thank you Grant, we can’t wait to visit Skye again sometime!

They were very thoughtful and willing to go the extra mile to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. Tessa's breakfast is delicious - visitors must try the homemade marmalade! We highly recommend their home to others.

  • A nice handy location for seeing Skye. Room was as per listing.

  • Tess and Tom we're wonderful hosts. We ended up arriving hours past our scheduled arrival time, but Tess was very accommodating. Woke up to a great breakfast. A great place for hikers, and anyone looking to explore Skye. If we ever come back we'd love to stay here again!

    Amber2014-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time staying with Tessa and her family. The room was exactly as described and everyone was so welcoming. The pub in Carbost served great food, the live music on a Wednesday night was awesome too. We would love to stay again.

    Andrew2015-07-10T00:00:00Z
  • Isle of Skye was beautiful and this was a wonderful place to stay to see it. Tucked away from the bigger towns and right on a loch! If you want to see the Cuillins and the Fairy Pools this is a great spot to do it from - they're a very quick (and fun!) drive. Tessa is such a sweetheart too! So friendly and kind and cooks a mean scottish breakfast! A perfect host and a lovely room :) I felt right at home!

  • Gill lives in a wonderful place on the Isle of Skye and is a really great host. We stayed there for one night and liked it a lot. Thanks Gill!

    Elisabeth2017-06-14T00:00:00Z
  • Gill was an amazing host and really made us feel at home during our stay. The room was clean and comfortable, the house very nice and the living room has an amazing view over the loch. We cannot fault anything :) Her house is also perfectly located to easily reach the whole island and the village has all basic amenities including some restaurants / pub to grab some dinner after a day of sightseeing.

    Silvia2017-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • The lounge area with fireplace and view made this one of the most special places I've stayed over night. Very clean, cozy, and friendly stay.

    Jacob2017-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • My girlfriend and I stayed here for a couple of nights and we have a lovely time. It's a really nice location, with a fireplace for the night. The room is a good size for two people. The Oyster Shack and Inn down the road are great.

    Lewis2017-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at Gill's place was perfect. She was really helpful in showing us around. It was interested, to elarn about life on Isle of Skye and about all special places this Island provides. We can absolutely recommend staying at this charming little house in the beautiful countryside.

    Steffen2017-06-01T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely one night stay at Gills place. Everything was really comfortable and clean. Gill is a great host, easy to talk to and really helpful for tips about the local area, and we even got a light breakfast which we didn't expect

    Gen2017-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • Gill's place is comfortable and very well decorated, with stunning views. She made us feel at home and went out of her way to accommodate us, giving plenty of great tips how to best explore Skye. Ideally located to see all of this beautiful island, we couldn't have chosen a better place. Highly recommended!

    Arnoud2017-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • Nice place, well located with georgious view over the loch and closeby places for dinner. Gill is very welcoming and provides good advice. Only one warning, telecom coverage is very limited on Skye Island and you should ensure knowing how to find the place without relying on (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) map address.

The cottage is perfect for a romantic break, but also for sight-seeing, walking, climbing and kayaking. Alternatively, just enjoy the lovely view!

The cottage has a comfortable and modern sitting and dining room with stunning views over Loch Harport from the large picture window. Smart TV and Wi-Fi is available if you can tear yourself away from the view. However, please note that our WiFi signal in Carbost is currently very poor. The kitchen also affords guests more lovely views over the loch. It is very well equipped, including a gas hob/oven, extractor fan, fridge, microwave and washing machine. The pretty double bedroom has fitted wardrobes, a lovely bespoke larch headboard and window sill (made by our son) and lovely views towards the Cuillin Mountains. Red Mountain Garden Cottage is perfectly situated: In under 10 minutes, walk to the wonderful Old Inn (famous for its traditional music, hospitality and good food), to Talisker Distillery, Loch Harport shore, Carbost Pier, the village shop and post office or to the medical centre. Twenty minutes walk from home is the famous Oyster Shed and farm shop, where you can enjoy a variety of reasonably priced sea food, including locally caught lobster, langoustine, mussels or scallops. The major walking and climbing routes are just a short drive away or maybe you would prefer to kayak in the loch. Within 20 minutes or less, guests can visit the lovely Fairy pools, Glenbrittle and Talisker beaches, Dunvegan Castle or the peaceful Glen Eynort. There are mountain bike trails nearby. There is a small but perfect cinema at The Aros Centre (also a music venue and visitor centre with a cafe and little indoor play area for small children). The Aros is situated just before you reach Portree. If you would like to join in a Scottish Ceilidh then you can do so at the Sligachan hotel on most Saturdays in the tourist season.
  • We really enjoyed our stay at Red Mountain Cottage The cottage was modern and very clean with everything we needed. The scenery out the front window is truly beautiful. Linda has an organized binder with all of the info needed to enjoy your stay We just wish we had more time to spend on Skye!

  • Great place and nice people. Really appreciated all the special touches and welcoming approach. Very clean comfortable and great stay. Would stay again for sure

    Deb2017-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage was everything as described and more, the pictures don’t give the scenic view justice. A great, modern place to stay that is quiet and quaint and within walking distance to the small village that has a great pub and beautiful walks along the storefront. Everything inside the cottage was really nice, clean and comfortable. We would definitely stay here again in the future!

    Aaron2017-10-28T00:00:00Z
  • A perfect island residence. Red Mountain Cottage has everything you would ever need. Amazing mattresses, facilities and most importantly view! Big thumbs up from our family. Many thanks indeed!

  • Linda and Allan's cottage is absolutely gorgeous. It is brand new, clean, bright and super comfortable. It is well located to take in all the beautiful sites of Skye but just out of the way enough to give you a serene and tranquil setting. The views are to die for and you could easily just spend a day sitting back reading a book and taking in the views. We would have happily stayed a week. Everything you could possibly need or want is provided in the cottage. Highly recommend this property to anyone visiting Skye

    Alessandro2017-08-08T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful 3 nights stay in Skye in the little cottage recently built by Linda & Allan . The place is brand new and very modern and comfortable . • This beautiful cottage is located in a quiet but scenic part of the Isle of Skye and overlooks beautiful Loch Harport, it is especially beautiful here during sunset. The cottage is very well equipped and well insulated. I would say this is one of the nicest cottages I have ever stayed at! Thank you again Linda for welcoming us to your lovely little cottage and for being so helpful, and I'm sorry we forgot to return the map to you. But we will definitely come back again!

  • We loved staying with Marie. She's a very attentive host, the house is absolutely lovely and the location is great for many famous activities on Skye. Would definitely recommend staying at Drynoch House when visiting Skye.

  • I stayed at Marie's flat for two nights, the place is very nice, clean, warm and tidy. I really enjoyed my stay and having nice chat with Marie which offer us breakfast and good recommendation about places to visit. The location is a bit isolated but is very good with a lovely view from the hill. I definitely recommend this place especially if you are looking for a break from the big city.

    Giuseppe2017-05-08T00:00:00Z
  • This pace is lovely and the host is amazing. It is centrally located to explore the isle.

    Nicole2017-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • Marie offers a cosy B&B, easy to find if you follow the Marie's direction. Our 2 kids had their own bedroom, they loved it. Carbost is a good place to visit Skye, not so far from the main points of interest. Just one recommendation : not too much restaurants in this area and with all the visitors, you can wait a long time to have a table and to be served. So go dinner early.

    Ludovic2017-08-10T00:00:00Z
  • If you visit UK, Scotland, or the Island of Skye, stay with Marie!!! A wonderful place with beautiful scenery. Perfect for families with kids. Best part is Marie's hospitality, as she truly makes you feel like home. Can't wait to come back and stay here longer.

    Eli2017-05-28T00:00:00Z
  • She was so sweet and welcoming. Made us feel very comfortable and encouraged us to share the home with them. Would definitely stay there again.

    John2017-05-25T00:00:00Z
  • This lake side cottage is more than perfect. Being our first trip to Scotland, Marie made us feel completely at home. She prepared a lovely proper breakfast for my whole family in the mornings. She also suggested a wonderful local pub and many attractions in Isle of Skye. The location was a perfect home base as it is centrally located to many of the best sites on Skye. Staying here will be a wonderful memory in itself. I would recommend this ten times over!

  • Gill's house is wonderful. The view is very beautiful and we decided to live here one more day after we stayed in one night. It also had toast, tea and coffee and prefect kitchen utensils. Only one unconvenient is that the location is not obvious to find but Gill was very kind and patient to help us.

  • Wonderful little cottage with beautiful views across the loch. Felt like a real home-away-from-home, and served as a great base for us to explore Skye. Also, best to save the location on (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) Maps before setting off - the location is accurate but a little different to the one shown on AirBnb. Would definitely recommend :) Thanks Gill!

  • This place is amazing, I don't think the photos do it justice! The view out of the living room window is like a postcard, and you can light the fire then curl up on the couch and watch the water and the mountains. Gill left us bread, milk, snacks and other useful kitchen bits and pieces, you can cook pretty much anything in that kitchen. Would definitely recommend and would love to come back one day!

  • The cottage was an incredible home base while on Skye! Beautifully decorated, cozy, and an epic view. The mattress and pillows were comfortable, the shower pressure great, the kitchen was perfectly appointed, and have I mentioned the view? I would return in a heartbeat.

  • Wonderful place to stay. Cottage is lovely, cosy, fully-equipped, very nicely and creatively decorated. Really clean, really friendly, helpful, speedy communications with Gill. Brilliant views of loch and hillside. Ten minute walk from village shop, post office, pub, Talisker distillery. Lovely natural garden blending into the surrounding hillside. So much wildlife in garden and surrounds including a pair of eagles from lounge window our first evening - far off through binoculars and telescope, but still :) Over four days in garden and immediate surrounds: song thrush, meadow pipit, house sparrow, house martin, swallow, swift, siskin, greenfinch, goldfinch, robin, wren, dunnock, chaffinch, jackdaw, collared dove, feral pigeon, starling, skylark, pied wagtail, blackbird, mistle thrush, goldcrest, blue tit, great tit, lapwing. Further off but still seen from cottage windows and garden: eagle x2, heron, shag, cormorant, raven, common gull, mallard, red-breasted merganser, hooded crow, oystercatcher, herring gull, greenshank, snipe (drumming!), cuckoo (calling), curlew, lesser black-backed gull, gannet, red-throated diver.

  • Great place in Skye! We were treated like family by the host. Able to walk to the pub down the road. Loved the lounge and provided breakfast. Can't say enough about our stay here!

  • Justine is a wonderful host. The room and private bath (with the best shower ever) are comfortable and lovely. It was great to have a small lounge to use also. The house is an easy drive from Portree and a central location for whatever you want to do in Skye. The distillery is right down the road and Justine recommended a great dinner at the Old Inn.

A cosy lochside property in the village of Carbost.
A delightful terraced cottage in the centre of the village of Carbost, on the shores of Loch Harport on the west coast of the Isle of Skye. From the rear of this Carbost cottage there are lovely views over the loch with direct access to it from the lawned garden. There are three bedrooms and a bathroom on the first floor of this Carbost cottage, whilst downstairs there is a fitted kitchen with external door to the garden and a large, modern sitting/dining room that exudes quality and style. The rear lawned garden at this cottage on the Isle of Skye is an idyllic place to enjoy an early morning coffee whilst looking out across the water to The Cuillin mountain range. The village of Carbost boasts a shop and a lively local inn with good food and great atmosphere, plus it’s also home to the Talisker Distillery, the only distillery on the island. From Carbost, the lovely sandy beach at Glen Brittle is easily accessed and this is also a great place to start a walk up the lower slopes of The Cuillin, where wonderful views await. Skye is a deceptively large island with plenty of indented coastline and friendly crofting villages. It’s rich in wildlife and however busy it becomes in the summer months, there are always quiet and secluded places you can visit. Your Skye cottage is a great base for exploring this superb island. Accommodation: Three bedrooms: 1 x king-size double, 1 x twin (zip/link, can be super king-size double on request), 1 x single with stacker bed. Bathroom with bath, shower over, basin and WC. Kitchen. Sitting room with dining area and electric fire. Lawned garden to rear with loch views.
7 Harport Cottages is close to the bustling village pub with live music, local ales and whisky and great food.
  • good location, very close to Talisker distillery, the lake and the only pub around. clean apartment. Joel was very polite and useful.

5 Harport is a waterside house on the banks of loch Harport, opposite the famous Talisker distillery in the beautiful village of Carbost, centrally located on Skye. Tastefully decorated, it has stunning views out over the loch to the Cuillin mountains especially from the elevated decking. Close to local amenities including shop with petrol station, The Old Inn pub which serves food all day and has live traditional music three nights a week. 10 minutes to the cuillins and 20 miles to Portree.
  • A place that is great to stay on the island. Nice location, great hosts, very clean. We would recommend

    Cenk2017-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • Lynsey and Tom's cottage is cosy, comfortable and very clean. It has super views of the loch and decking which you can sit out on and enjoy and unrestricted view. The kitchen is very well equipped although we didn't do a lot of cooking everything was there to enable you to cook quite complicated meal. The Old Inn is only a few yards up the road where you can get breakfast and excellent meals throughout the day. We found the area good for visiting the middle and north of the island. You do need a car though as unless you are a very fit cyclist and have plenty of time, the area is very hilly and Carbost lies at the bottom of two!

    Sue2017-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • Great, cost place an excellent location on Skye, across the road from Talisker and sat on a beautiful loch. Lynsey was very friendly, check in/out couldn't have been easier.

  • Lynsey and Tom were really nice guests. The house was in a perfect condition and had everything we Needed. It was also ideally located in a very quiet and nice area. I would recommend anyone to say with them again.

  • They're not kidding about being near Tallisker, probably less than 100 steps from the front door to the distillery, and it made the air have that pleasant biscuity-peaty scent! Loved hanging out on the back patio looking over the water and seeing local musicians at the nearby Old Inn. Well furnished and super comfortable, thanks!

  • 5 Harport Cottage is a great base from which to explore Skye. It's within driving distance to the whole of the island and has a local shop, bar and even the Talisker Whisky distillery just over the road. The cottage is very clean, well kept and cosy.. especially when the fire is roaring! I would recommend the cottage to anyone looking for a stay in Skye.

A cosy self catering retreat for two persons with views towards Loch Harport and the Cuillin Hills. Located on large hill farm with a track to the shores of Loch Harport and further walking available on an extensive track through the hill.
  • Anne's place was a wonderful, centrally located home base for all of our adventures on Skye. Very clean and spacious and she even stocked us with some morning breakfast essentials like croissants, cereals & milk, plus tea and coffee, which was a nice touch! She's right up the road from Sligachan Old Bridge and Cuillin Brewery and we were able to watch the sunset from a hill near her place on our first night. There's a washer in case you get a bit muddy (as we did), but no dryer so just make a note to leave enough time to dry things before you have to pack up. As a host, Anne was really the friendliest and very much a people person and I can see why she got into Airbnb. Would definitely stay here again.

    janel2017-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • Great place. Perfect location on Skye with a view of the mountains. The place is very clean and big for a couple. Anne was very welcoming. I would recommend this place to my friends anytime.

  • My partner and myself went up to Skye for the weekend and had a great time. It's a beautiful island and Ann's apartment was the perfect base to explore from. The apartment is fully self contained, furnished and supplied to a very high standard and has everything you could want in it. Ann also put some supplies in the fridge which were much appreciated! Ann herself was a lovely host with a warm welcome and good advice on what to see. We would stay there again without hesitation, in fact I can't think why we'd go anywhere else on Skye. Thanks Ann, you're doing a great job!

    Rod2016-09-18T00:00:00Z
  • Anne is a very gracious hostess and provided us with wonderful breakfast items which was a totally unexpected surprise. The apartment is very clean, comfortable and well-equipped. It's a good base for exploring the southwest parts of Skye - the Cuillens, Fairy Pools, and Talisker Distillery.

Located directly opposite Talisker Distillery car park on Loch Harport, No 3 is a colourful, quirky holiday home for you to relax in and enjoy the loch views and use as a base to visit the island's attractions.
In the village itself there is The Old Inn, The Oyster Shed and Caola Dhubh coffee shop all a stones throw away. Talisker bay, Glenbrittle beach and the Fairy Pools are a short drive. Carbost is 33 miles from the Skye bridge and 17 miles from Portree.
  • Leona's place was really well-located: central-enough so that you can access all the various parts of the island whilst also being by the sea. The house backs onto the loch itself, which is beautiful. Talisker distillery is on the other side of the road. Very close to Glenbrittle & the Fairy Pools, I would also recommend going down to Talisker Bay if you get a nice evening. The food at the Old Inn was very good though fairly pricey. The house had everything we needed - make sure you take enough food/booze for the trip (we did), as you're a fair way from a big shop. All in all we had a great stay on Skye at Leona's.

    Freddie2017-05-15T00:00:00Z
  • Leona's place is absolutely charming. It has fantastic views over the waterfront, it is situated in a calm location, and within walking distance of the Talisker distillery and the Old Inn, which has live music several times per week. The place is clean, cozy and well equipped, and Leona has a great "visitor advice" folder that will guide you through the must sees of the Isle of Skye. We did not actually meet her, but she arranged for us to get into the house as soon as we arrived in Carbost and how to drop off the keys on departure. All in all, we spent 5 wonderful days.

    Cathy2017-09-26T00:00:00Z
  • The house is in a great location, short walk to great pub (music three nights a week), and the Oyster Shed where you can get the freshest seafood possible at reasonable prices.

    Paul2017-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • Check in was a breeze. Clean, cosy cottage opposite Talisker distillery and nice pub (the old inn).. Leona's place had everything for a comfortable stay including a nice heater for the cold weather. View from the bedroom n kitchen was amazing. Nice place for a good retreat!

  • Leona's place was fantastic. Great view of the lake from the living room. Perfect size for 3-4 people. Really clean and modern. The town of Corbost was really pretty. distillery across the road, excellent coffee spot right next door and the local pub (a few doors down) did great food. Highly recommend staying here.

Calath is a self-catering house situated within 20 minutes walk from the village of Carbost on the west coast of Skye. It is a modern house designed by the award winning architects Dualchas. The house has three large double bedrooms and can sleep up to eight people comfortably. There is a large open plan dining/lounge area where the views to the loch and of the whole of the Cuillin ridge must be seen to be believed.
The most striking feature of the house are the views. From the huge three metre wide single pane window in the lounge area the whole ridge of the Cuillin mountain range can be seen in its full glory, ever changing with the weather it is a view to remember From the dining area there is an unobstructed view of Loch Harport where from time to time small fishing boats may pass or you may be lucky and get a glimpse of a porpoise ! Upstairs the rooms also enjoy similar views and also on a clear night the starry skies can be viewed from the roof light windows. Some guests visiting in the winter months have been lucky enough to see the spectacular display of the Northern Lights over the loch.
The neighbourhood around the house is full of great walks and attractions. The famous Cuillin mountains are less than 10 miles away and can be viewed in their entirety from the lounge windows. There are many walks within a few miles too including the "Fairy pools" and Talisker beach. The village of Carbost is only a 20 min walk away. The Talisker Distillery is there where you can go on a tour of the whisky production process and enjoy a "wee dram" at the end . There is also a pub "The Old Inn" which serves good pub meals and regularly hosts live music evenings. Great to sit and enjoy a good local beer and listen to some traditional music. Carbost also has a small shop, a medical centre and a post office. For more shops and the nearest supermarket, Portree is a 30 min drive away through some stunning scenery. There are several first class restaurants to choose from and also Chinese and Indian for those who want a wider choice of dining. Tourist information is also available here with details of all the other attractions on the Island.
  • A great property, magnificent position close to the Oyster Shed and local Pub. The views from the property were awesome, we had great weather which gave us a good view of the Cuillin ridge mountain range. The property itself was exactly what we hoped it would be. Clean, spacious, homely, and a great position to travel to the rest of the Island. No hesitation in recommending it.

    Peter2017-07-29T00:00:00Z
  • The gorgeous photos on this listing do not do the location justice. If you are considering booking, do it. Everything was clean and comfortable, cozy and reliable. The host is very communicative. And the views! Bring your camera, water colors or whatever your medium is and enjoy.

    Roberta2017-05-04T00:00:00Z
  • This is a beautiful home - well-designed to be thoroughly enjoyed by a group of couples or a family on holiday. Absolutely stunning uninterrupted views of the loch, the bay and local homes as well as the majestic Cuillins from the picture windows could be studied all day long. Comfortable common rooms as well as bedrooms. Wonderful wood-burning stove to take the edge off the cold or add charm to an evening. Wonderfully secluded feel to the property on the loch, yet a short walk to town, restaurants, shop and the Talisker Distillery. Alan was a great host - always available to quickly respond to questions or concerns. We would be so happy to stay here again!

  • So you're probably reading this because you've already decided to visit Skye, maybe you love Talisker (good choice by the way) but want somewhere to hang your hat. Read no further, just book, seriously. You'll be very happy. The house: beautiful, private, really spacious and warm despite almost floor to ceiling windows to soak up the pristine view. You could sink the titanic in the master bathroom bath, the pics do not do it justice! We fired up the log burner (November mind) and got VERY warm indeed, very cosy with a wee dram and some locally caught see food from the Oyster shed. Don't forget to do some star gazing from the decking through the sliding doors of the kitchen, overlooking the loch, perfect. Kitchen is well kitted out for sure and washing clothes is no issue. Location: You can trek around Skye on foot if you fancy it, but for a short trip where you want to see a lot then you need a car. We walked down the hill to the shop and pub for a lovely meal and a great drinks selection regularly. The distillery is also a great visit within walking distance. Driving elsewhere is easy and as a base, Carbost worked perfectly. Weather: as they say, if you don't like the weather......wait a minute. Host: spot on, great contact and on hand for queries but things were set up so well we didn't need to get in touch whilst there. Have a great trip!!

  • This house delivers in all aspects, location , style, design and usability! We loved our stay at your place and enjoyed the amenities the house and island had to offer, its location is remote enough to be quiet and peaceful but close enough to the village for the shop and pub to be handy. The minor issues we had when we arrived were sorted almost instantly and had no negative impact on our stay. The views from the house are breathtaking and the house itself is well laid out for family living. Many thanks

  • Joe was a good host, making us feel welcome and letting us know we could call him at any time (he lives in a nearby property). The bungalow is modern, clean and well furnished and equipped. Our room was very comfortable and we made use of the kitchen to cook our dinner. Breakfast was lovely, lots of choice. My smoked salmon and scrambled eggs was huge and delicious. A very enjoyable stay and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend.

Recently renovated croft house set in an idylic location with the Cuillin Hills providing a dramatic backdrop. With open views of the countryside, we are situated in a traditional crofting community. Our croft was the site of the last weaver's cottage in the area and you can be assured of a warm welcome to our home. We are a short distance to the Talisker whisky distillery and the foot of the Cuillin Hills. Ideally situated for walkers and centrally based for the rest of the Island.
We have recently renovated and extended a derelict traditional 1920's Weaver's croft house, which now offers a contemporary, bright and open plan home. Although the landscaping is still a work in progress. The spacious bedroom has a king size bed with an en-suite shower room, TV and DVD player. A selection of DVDs are available in the Dining area. Tea and coffee making facilities are also provided. A selection of guide books are available to help you plan your stay and we are always on hand to provide recommendations and advice. A traditional British cooked breakfast will be served in the Dining area. Whilst renovation works were in progress we lived on-site in a caravan so we hope you will appreciate the uniqueness of the space and share in our vision for the rest of our small area of Eutopia. Our house was home to the last person to weave Port na Skye tweed in the 1970s from the weaving shed which still stands next to the house. You will see a number of these sheds doted along the route to Portnalong. We love the tranquil setting of our home and hope you will too.
Our property is nicely secluded without being remote. We have open views and The Cuillin Hills provide an amazing backdrop. We are on the edge of the Portnalong township and crofting community. The local pub is just a five minute stroll away where a warm welcome awaits and good food too. Carry on walking towards Portnalong Pier where you can enjoy wonderful sunsets and views across the bay. You can also fish from the Pier and the Pier down at Carbost. The village of Carbost is a short drive away where you will find another pub, also with good food, a coffee shop, village shop and the Talisker Distillery. The local medical practice is also here. Portnalong is centrally located and ideal for getting around the island. Portree, Dunvegan, Glendale, Waternish, Uig and Broadford are all within a 30/40 minute drive. There is plenty of wildlife in the area and if you are lucky you may get a glimpse of deer, sea eagles and buzzards. For the night birds we have a couple of owls in the neighbourhood. Occasionally dolphins and seals have been known to come into Loch Harport. For the photographers and artists you are spoilt for choice regarding subject matter. Whether it be wildlife, flora, scenery or weather, the Isle of Skye and Portnalong has something to interest all. As for those of you who enjoy outdoor pursuits, there are plenty of walks locally. We are a short distance from the foot of The Cuillin Hills where you can have a fairly easy amble or for the more adventurous and dedicated The Cuillin is there to be climbed. If you are awake early enough you may be fortunate to witness a dramatic sunrise from your bedroom window. Local beauty spots include Fiskavaig Bay, Talisker Beach, The Fairy Pools and Glenbrittle Beach.

They gave us many recommendations as regards what to see in Skye and lent us a map and a guide. In fact it was the best acommodation we had in whole Scotland and we felt priviledged to be their first guests.

The house itself is in the beautiful area overlooking views. The room and the ensuite was so clean and well set up that we felt like home. Every details were considered for guests. The breakfast were freshly cooked and very delicious. Their local tips for visiting sites and restaurants helped us a lot and made our journey more easier. Anyone looking to stay at Corrine and Paul's place? You wouldn't be disappointed at all

There is a modern kitchen/dining room, lounge with wood burning stove, a double and a twin bedroom and a shower room. A welcome pack of logs and kindling is provided for guests and Wi-fi is available throughout the cottage. The entrance door to Shepherd's Cottage opens into a hallway with a fully equipped kitchen off to the right. The kitchen provides a double oven with electric hob, washing machine, fridge freezer, dishwasher and microwave along with a dining table seating up to four guests. The lounge is off to the left of the hallway and provides a comfortable sofa and two armchairs so that everyone can relax around the wood burning stove after their adventures in the hills. There is a TV with Freesat, DVD, selection of books and a wooden chess set for entertainment should guests tire of the view across the Loch. The bright and airy shower room is located at the end of the hallway and provides a large shower cubicle, w.c., wash hand basin and heated towel rail. Leading on from the lounge are the double and twin bedrooms, both enjoying stunning views across Loch Eynort. The master bedroom offers a Kingsize bed, attractive furnishings and a wooden love seat under the window - a great place to enjoy the scenery from or relax with a book! The hallway off the twin bedroom leads to a stable door that opens out onto the waterfront for a gentle stroll. After a day spent exploring the hills and forest or enjoying nearby Glenbrittle Beach, mountain bikes can be safely stored away in the byre. The garden has a stream running along its edge and is fully enclosed with a bench seat providing the perfect spot to sit, admire the surrounding views and enjoy the peace and quiet. There is ample off road parking to the side Shepherd's Cottage. Shepherd's Cottage and its gardens are located within working croft land (which means passing a rather large bull when driving up to the property!) - the owner therefore asks that all gates are left as they are found.
  • It is a lovely cottage located far from the turmoil of the world. It offers the experience of real tranquility.

  • What a wonderful place! We looked for a remote holiday house in the nature and we found it here at it's best. The house is very tasteful and cozy. The view on Loch Eynort with it's bird life is fantastic. The contact with Katherine was very pleasant and easy! Thank you for all!

Nestled within the quiet heart of the friendly crofting hamlet of Portnalong on the North West Skye, amongst spectacular scenery & wildlife. This vintage retreat is an ideal base from which to explore the island.
Mungos Den (once an old telephone exchange & post office) has been lovingly rescued & restored. It offers a stylish holiday experience; full of luxurious & eclectic furnishings. It has a calm, restful atmosphere with an inspirational style & character full of original & vintage objects that speak of timeless quality. Entering Mungos Den you cannot help but be charmed by its magic. Everything was rebuilt with the environment in mind: materials were reclaimed, and the glorious mix of furniture was recycled or, in the case of the spiral staircase, rescued from a garden and lovingly repaired. In the living room there are warmed tile floors, a log burner, a comfy sofa and a dining table. Vintage fabrics and a Bakelite phone add quirk, while the flat screen TV with full Sky package and iPod dock bring it all into the 21st century. The kitchen continues the recycled theme with a mix of crockery and Victorian cupboard doors; the bathroom has a roll top bath and rain shower, with underfloor heating. The mezzanine has a super king-sized bed, more gorgeous fabrics and a velux window that lets you watch the sun set.
For many people, Portnalong & Carbost is the most inspirational area of the Island. The awe-inspiring scenery provided by the magnificent Cuillin Mountains has attracted countless visitors for over a century. Climbers, walkers, artists & photographers are drawn by the wonderful panoramic views and the challenge to either capture images or conquer the mighty peaks and ridges. You can watch the local fishermen landing their catches at nearby Portnalong Pier or on the shores at Carbost. There are fabulous beach walks at nearby Fiskavaig Bay, Talisker & Glen Brittle. The world renowned Talisker Distillery - Skyes only whiskey distillery - is only 3 miles away & offers guided tours for visitors. The Old Inn at Carbost offers live music, including traditional Scottish sessions, & good value pub meals all year round. There is a local pub across the road where you can relax in the friendly atmosphere, although winter opening hours can vary. For a taste of local fayre with excellent quality, visit the Loch Bay Seafood Restaurant, Bosville Hotel & The Three Chimneys.
  • Had a wonderful stay at John & Fiona's "Mungo's Den". Received a clear set of directions about how to drive there and get started. Upon arrival, we discovered a delicious welcome hamper in the warm and very clean kitchen/living space. Everything was perfect for our 3 night-stay and we would definitely recommend this place to friends visiting Isle of Skye in the future.

  • What an amazing den to stay in! So cosy and homely- the perfect base to explore Skye from. We really appreciated the big bath and huge comfy bed after a long days of walking. Although the pictures look amazing, I can honestly say that the cottage is even better and more spacious on real life and it's so beautifully furnish. We will definitely be back!

    Joanna2017-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic cottage! Really good use of the space available and all fittings are good quality and solid. Underfloor heating was absolute luxury too. Really enjoyed ourselves and found it difficult leaving mungos every morning to experience the rest of what Skye has to offer.

    Alastair2016-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • The den is like a tardis and very comfortably furnished. There were lots of nice extras and touches. Although at the end of a track there was more to do than you would think e.g. hotel, circular walk and On the Croft craft shop. We have come to Skye nearly every year for 20 years but this was our best home yet. Thank you Fiona and John!

    Karen2016-07-03T00:00:00Z
  • Truly a lovely little cottage to get away and relax. The bungalow is exactly as the photos show and it was very clean. Perfect for one or two people. Hot water was a by lacking, but it was doable as I was traveling alone. Quick showers for sure!

  • Dear Fiona and John, We forgot to write some words in your guest book... We love your home sweet home... Mungo's Den is a small haven of piece in the middle of Skye. And thank you for the small box containing good little things waited for us upon our arrival... Delicious ! We would have like staying longer so we were well... Everything was perfect ! Thanks for all ! Valerie & Frederic & Maxime

  • The Den was a truly lovely place to stay on our trip to Skye. The space is laid out so thoughtfully, and it had everything we needed to enjoy some time far far away from London. This is a traditional croft cottage situated within a quiet crofting community on the beautiful and romantic Isle of Skye. Whilst the cottage is in a rural area, it is situated in central Skye near the Cuillin mountains and only around 3 miles from the famous Talisker Distillery. The cottage itself is situated is a quiet crofting township and is perfect if you want a quiet break away from it all.
This is a traditional and cosy, croft cottage surrounded by a 28 acre croft. It was built by my grandfather and I grew up here. It's a much loved cottage with everything you can think of contained within it including WiFi, Sky TV and Bluetooth speakers as well as all the usual kitchen equipment including microwave, dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer.
This is a rural crofting township on the Isle of Skye. It is a quiet area with no street lighting. It is perfect for star gazing on a clear night and the Northern Lights have been seen regularly over the last few years. There is one hotel less than a mile from the cottage where you can dine out and a further village pub around three miles away in Carbost which serves meals.
  • Our experience in John's house was amazing. The bungalow was clean and cozy. We could find everything we need. He was really nice with us, the communication was fluent and he did his best to make our stay as good as possible. Highly recommended!

    mireia2016-11-15T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay at the cottage; it is very well equipped and perfectly situated to explore Skye. John was extremely friendly and helpful and we would certainly recommend the cottage to others.

    Robert2017-04-19T00:00:00Z
  • John was the prefect host, left us lots of information and the house was lovely, just what we wanted. The area is beautiful, really peaceful but be warned it is a bit of a drive if you want to eat out! We went to the Oyster Shed a few miles away and that was really good. The house is ideal for 4 people and the rooms are a good size too.

    Mandy2016-09-27T00:00:00Z
  • John was a very hospitable and gracious host. He was very helpful in suggesting places to visit on the Isle of Skye, and places to eat (in Portree). Additionally he kept our fire going whenever we left the cottage so that we returned from our trips, the place was nice and warm. The cottage was very well equipped with all the amenities we could ask for, and comfortable for a stay on Skye. The cottage also held a beautiful view of the surrounding area. I would definitely recommend staying here for a visit to Skye, and this would be my first choice next time I come back to the Isle of Skye.

    Edward2017-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • We had such a wonderful time staying at John's Cottage in Skye. The location was good for us. The Cottage had everything we needed to have a comfortable stay. I would stay here again if I ever find myself in Scotland again.

  • A fantastic and snug cottage, and hosts who take a lot of care to make sure that everything is just right for you, a winning combination! It's situated in a gorgeously secluded spot, which is exactly what we wanted for our holiday, so we were very happy. The cottage is brilliantly equipped, it was the first holiday we had where we didn't end up wishing we'd brought our favourite kitchen utensils! John was a wonderful host and kindness personified, couldn't have been happier with his communication. Skye is such a breathtaking part of the world, and this cottage is a perfect place to explore it from.

The views from both the bedroom and breakfast room are lovely and tranquil. Do ask John for travel tips as he grew up on Skye and was instrumental in helping us make the most of our stay and Skye's incredible beauty. John and Katie are two of the most warm, friendly, and accommodating hosts you will find!

  • Our stay at Craighaven was near perfect - we couldn't recommend enough. The flat was new, very clean, and with modern specs. The thing that blew our socks off however was the view from the garden. The photos just don't do it justice, and the sunset there alone is worth the stay. Just fab!

  • The earlier reviews say it all - Craig and Tereska's place was perfection. A wonderfully thought out, modern, very comfortable self contained unit with spectacular views. Absolutely wonderful. If you're looking for somewhere to be quiet on Skye and appreciate the beauty of the place - look no further. We drove to Craigshaven from Inverness and the drive was so beautiful - Tereska's directions were spot on. We can't wait to go back!

    Ashley2017-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • 100 % recommendable. This cabin is really amazing, like a dream. The views from de house are too very nice. And Craig, is very kind. The best place in Skye!!

  • A beautiful, scenic drive takes you to this hidden gem. Fabulous self-catering accommodation with everything you could possibly want, a friendly and welcoming host, who recommended a great local hotel for dinner, a beautiful view from the breakfast table, a short walk to a magical bay and rugged beach - what more could you ask for on Skye! Our wonderful host even phoned the hotel we were dining at to offer us a lift back to the accommodation when we were finished, as it had started to rain - now that is going the extra mile! :)

Harris Cottage is a traditional Hebridean croft house, extended and upgraded to what has been for three years now a comfortable, cosy and well-equipped holiday cottage. Harris Cottage sleeps four. For the comfort of our guests we have a policy of no smoking and no pets. Situated on the Minginish Peninsula on the edge of the crofting community of Portnalong, Harris Cottage has views across open croft land to Loch Harport.
We are only 4 miles from Carbost, the main village in the area. Carbost boasts a well-stocked village shop and a Post Office, a pub/restaurant and a hostel. Portnalong itself has Taigh Ailean, the local hotel. Portree, the island's capital, is 18 miles away and has all the amenities and facilities you would expect of a small, busy town. 36 miles and a fifty minute drive from the Skye Bridge, Harris Cottage will provide a comfortable base from which to explore the delights of this magical island and a welcoming retreat to which to return at the end of the day.
  • The cottage was great! Loved the Harris tweed sofa covers, and had everything we needed, and then some! The directions you gave were spot on too, and invaluable in finding our way. Thanks for a lovely stay.

    Nina2017-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • Harris cottage is a lovely place to stay on Skye, and bigger than we expected! It's located in a quiet corner of the island, which on the one hand is very nice given how busy the island is during the summer, but it does mean that you have to drive a little bit farther to most of the sights. This didn't bother us, however, given that the surroundings are beautiful everywhere! The cottage is modern, well-equipped and comfortable; we really liked the beds. We had everything we needed for cooking - there was even a dishwasher (bring your own tablets, though).

    Anne2017-08-26T00:00:00Z

  • Beautyful cottage, very well equiped, especially in the kitchen(URL HIDDEN)The place is pretty isolated so a car is a must have, it's also not the most central location so getting around the island will take you a little extra time. Otherwise a very good place with an exellent host.

    François2017-05-25T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great location for those seeking a quiet retreat. The place was spotless and tastefully furnished. It was warm in a cold spell. The large selection of books and games was appreciated. Beautiful countryside and nice walks from the the house.

  • Johns Cottage is the perfect place to stay and explore Skye if you're able to get around with a car. It's very quite, the neighbours are friendly and the walkway infront of the house is perfect for morning walks when the sun is shining. The Bath is clean and offers everything you need. Sleeping rooms are the same. Theres nothing you could've forgotten at home that John wouldn't have thought about. There are extra blankets, the kitchen is well equipped for everything possible and all in all it's just a very lovely and taken care of cottage. Not only that, but John was available for us when our first nights airbnb canceled on us and made it possible for us to stay in the cottage a day earlier. All that while personally being abroad himself! We had a wonderful holiday and are very grateful for what John offered and did for us.

An added bonus was the comfy living room (TV, Hi fi and sofa) where we had a masterfully made Scottish breakfast with an unbeatable view of the cliffs and beaches.

  • Wonderful studio in a surreal landscape. The studio is well designed to make you feel comfortable and yet still immersed in the environment. We loved this magical place and our host was lovely. The journey there took us longer than we excreted due to the tiny roads, but it was worth the drive!

  • This place is soul-soothing, beautiful and everything you need to go down several gears. Its quiet location, architecture and detailed decor makes this the perfekt space on skye. Nick is wonderful host, and we could not have felt more welcome. We started our Skye visit headed for the tourist spots but ended up spending a lot of time in the studio eating seafood takeaway from the oystershed and the old inn just looking at the view and enjoying the weather changeing. With that said the studio is a great location for all attractions - since you are going out driving anyway. This Airbnb is special - so dont think - just book - you will love it.

  • We had a great week at the Studio, it's a great base to go and explore Skye from. There are super walks within a stones throw, literally, one starts outside the back door which goes down to the bay! Good place to go if you want to get away from it all!

  • The studio at Fiscavaig was absolutely perfect for our stay in Skye. We loved the contemporary architecture of the building and the view was out of this world. Inside all mod cons were provided nearly and compactly. The large format window looking out over the head land and mountains beats any tv hands down. In the evenings we lit the wood burning stove and hunkered down for the night it was amazing. Nick, Kate and Sputnik the dog were lovely hosts, providing lots of local insight on places to go and things to see. We definitely recommend coasteering with Skye Adventures it was a great morning jumping off cliffs in to the sea with an expect local guide. We can't wait to go back and enjoy this wonderful studio and island again. Paul & Holli

  • The studio was absolutely lovely. The location is beautiful and the place was clean, comfortable and a welcome refuge no matter the weather. Nicholas was very friendly and helpful too (great dog as well!). We relied on a few tips for places to eat/drink, which were sent through in booking information and they were all great. He also gave us a few ideas for next time as we left too. Can't recommend highly enough.

  • Amazing place to stay in a fantastic location. Perfect base to have a great holiday.

  • The studio in Carbost is of outstanding quality with beautiful views over Macleod's tables. The studio has a well thought out layout and is a great base to explore the beauty of Skye. Bright and well appointed, the use of space is very clever with basic materials that work well together. Nick and Kate are wonderful hosts who share a sustainable view on the environment. Thank you for allowing us to stay in your own Grand Design.

  • My wife and I used the Studio as a retreat as part of our summer holidays and it was amazing! Despite the weather, the studio was a great base for visiting skye and the fire was there to dry us out in the evenings. Tucked away, its location ensured we were undisturbed from neighbouring properties while enjoying the speculator sea views west. Inside, we loved the Scandinavian / minimal feel complimented with comfy furniture, a cosy built in bed and some lovely artwork. Overall, we'd love to spend a little longer there and would thoroughly recommend the studio for a romantic getaway on Skye.

Ideal self contained self catering, quiet escape for two ,but not to far from the high spots of the island, having super sea views of loch harport and hills of Macleods tables.Having advantages of a local pub just a mile away and Talisker Distillery just four , other delights within easy access are the much talked about Fairy pools , for the more active we can offer secure housing for bikes and canoes.
  • A beautiful view from clean and comfortable surroundings, with everything you need for an enjoyable, independent holiday. I loved it! Highly recommended!

  • We booked our trip to the Isle of Skye as last minute thing and Bramblenook was the last AirBNB available on the island! The reviews looked good but we did not know what to expect. Well, I have to say that we were pleasantly surprised as the place is bigger than it looks on the pics and it is located in a lovely corner of the island with fabulous views. Lin was a wonderful host and made sure that all comfort was provided. The kitchen is particularly well equiped. A plus, when you are a food lover! We highly recommend this place to anyone coming to this beautiful corner of the world.

The Sligachan Lodge is set in a beautiful location in the centre of the Island which makes it ideal for sightseeing. It's also nestled below the Cuillin mountain range, one of the most magnificent sights on Skye. The Lodge is a large house with 5 rooms for letting. This listing is for the 3 bedrooms on the upper level of the house. Communal facilities will be shared with other guests. There is a fully equipped kitchen and a cosy living room to relax and take in the magnificent views.
Although Sligachan in on the main road that runs through Skye, it is relatively remote in terms of amenities. We suggest picking up groceries in either Broadford (12 miles South) or Portree (9 miles North) where there are supermarkets. The Sligachan Hotel is located a 5 minute walk or a 1 minute drive from the Lodge. They offer meals from breakfast through to dinner (from 7.30am-9pm) for non hotel residents. There is a choice of the Hotel's restaurant for an ambient meal or the infamous Seumas' Bar which is renowned for it's tasty pub grub and an impressive collection of 400+ whiskies.
  • This is a great spot to stay while travelling in Skye. Sligachan Lodge is exactly as advertised. It is very clean, and in a great location. I would stay here again without hesitation.

  • Location is perfect! Easy access to many areas of Skye. The hotel close by is an easy walk and has good food. We had dinner there both nights and breakfast one morning. The Sligachan Lodge is very clean and welcoming. We shared the Lodge with another family that was very friendly. Phil is a great host and made the whole process very easy for us to get in and out.

  • Loved the room. Very comfy & clean. Only negative factor was the shower water pressure which was very weak.

    Caryne2017-09-29T00:00:00Z
