All About Dubai

Not long ago Dubai was a humble fishing village. Today, it’s a modern metropolis and a global hub with a skyline silhouetted by the world’s tallest building, Burj Khalifa. With a vision toward the future as grand as its skyscrapers, Dubai is a city where anything can happen, from palm-shaped manmade islands to a 760-mile-per-hour Hyperloop train. It’s no wonder Dubai is the first city in the Middle East to be designated a Creative City of Design by UNESCO. But its appeal doesn’t stop there. Dubai’s neighborhoods are as diverse as the city’s 3.3 million inhabitants. From the historic Bur Dubai district to the sophisticated Dubai Marina to the chichi Jumeirah Beach Residence, there’s a place for everyone.

The best time to stay in a holiday rental in Dubai

Factoring Dubai’s weather into your trip is essential for a smooth journey. With temperatures that can reach 109 degrees Fahrenheit, you might want to avoid August. In fact, June through September are often too hot to stay outside for long, so if you visit then, you’ll be spending most of your time indoors. By contrast, November through March is often a pleasantly balmy 77 degrees, with lows around 61 degrees. During the winter season Dubai has an average daytime temperature of 77 degrees. Be sure to pack breathable, lightweight clothing, and keep in mind that the dress code in the UAE is conservative for all genders, except on hotel properties.

Top things to do in Dubai

Burj Khalifa

Whichever perspective you view it from, Burj Khalifa is a marvel of modern engineering. At 163 stories and more than a half-mile high, it’s the tallest building in the world, redefining modern architecture. The skyscraper’s design is a tribute to the spider lily flower, with a sculpted spire centerpiece and minarets that reflect traditional Islamic architecture.

The Dubai Mall

The Dubai Mall is more than just a mall: As the largest in the world, it’s nearly its own city. Even if a shopping spree isn’t on your itinerary, the Dubai Mall is an attraction in its own right. It contains an Olympic-sized ice rink, and more than 1,200 stores, and rivals the Mall of Emirates in Al Barsha.

Kite Beach

This beach is packed with activities beyond simply swimming in its warm blue water. White powdery sand lays the foundation for relaxing on sunbeds, spiking a volleyball, or lounging after a day of kitesurfing or kayaking.
