Bar
“A very traditional English pub, off the beaten track, that's probably just the same as it was 300 years ago. Beer poured from a jug and 3 open fires when it's chilly outside. Hot food at lunchtime and the finest pork pies in the evening. A healthy 1.5 mile walk from Tamworth House.”

“Once one of England's largest castles. Sadly, a ruin for the last 400 years, but it's spirit lives on as it's stones were pillaged for re-use around the village.”

“Fabulous micro-pub. Just round the corner. The beers on offer depend on what they've been brewing recently, and what barrels they've swapped with other local breweries.”

“Trundle up the valley from Duffield Station to Wirksworth on this privately owned and volunteer-operated railway. Watch the countryside go by on either historic diesels or steam trains. Buy a return ticket, or walk the 11 mile Ecclesbourne Valley Trail one way, and catch the train the other. ”

Route
“The HollyBush Pub in Makeney is very well known locally as a cracking real ale pub with great food and bar snacks (selling local Derbyshire Pyclets as well as cheese and meat boards, right the way to Sunday roasts). Kid and Dog friendly. Has both inside and outside seating. They have beer and music festivals in the summer. It is very popuar with walkers. It is about 40 minutes walk from Coxbench , taking in some lovely views.”

“You can arrive here by train, as we're just once stop (but a world away) from Derby. Leap back on the train to visit Cromford, Matlock Bath or Matlock.”
