Art Gallery
“The nearest gallery to the flat. Packed with interest in terms of biography in art. Aside from that the building itself is an absolute star. Short walk then across St Andrews Square to the Scottish National Gallery. 10/15 minute bus ride depending on traffic or 25/30 minute walk but uphill. ”

Park
“This is a fantastic space right down the road from our flat. (take a left out of the door and walk down the hill past the small roundabout, then up the hill slightly, keep an eye out for a small gate on the left, that will take you down into the gardens) It is a beautiful park in its own right, and also a great shortcut to Princes Street and beyond. It used to be my walk to work in the morning!”

Cocktail Bar

“No trip to Edinburgh is complete without exploring the narrow closes that lead off the Royal Mile. Lucky you if your explorations lead to this cosy split-level pub-restaurant set in a converted Victorian pump house, with a menu of top-quality pub grub – the barbecue ribs are among the best in town. It gets rammed on weekends, so book ahead.”

Monument / Landmark
“The Scott Monument is a Victorian Gothic monument to Scottish author Sir Walter Scott. It is the second largest monument to a writer in the world after the José Martí monument in Havana. It stands in Princes Street Gardens, just opposite the Jenners department store and near to Edinburgh Waverley Railway Station, which is named after Scott's Waverley novels. The tower is 200 feet 6 inches (61.11 m) high, and has a series of viewing platforms reached by a series of narrow spiral staircases giving panoramic views of central Edinburgh and its surroundings. The highest platform is reached by a total of 288 steps.”

Bus Station
“Number 11 bus at the end of the street will take you straight in to the city centre in 15 mins as a cost of £1.70 for an adult. Recommend getting a day saver for £4 approximately and you can use the bus service all day ”

Indian Restaurant

“Get transported back to the Colonial era India! The feel of this place is simply indescribable. The soft music, the dimly lit wooden furnishings, the quick service and informative staff, not to mention the food with so much flavour the bowl is trying its best not to crack! It is not uncommon to see a line out of the door even on a weeknight. They cannot take reservations so I suggest taking a warm jacket, or if youre early enough you can wait in the basement bar until a table is ready. Please be advised this place has a lot of stairs. ”
