“The Elgin Depot is a great place to learn more about the important role that trains played in the development of Elgin and the West in general. And the Depot itself is a cool building; it is the original train depot, but nicely and historically restored. It's right on Main Street, so close to several fun shops, antique stores, and restaurants.”

“The smaller BBQ location in town, and our second choice after Southside. They claim to be the local favorite, and their sausage is found all over Austin.”

“Joseph's is one of the nicer restaurants in Elgin, good for when you want to dress up and go out but not have to drive all the way into Austin for a fancy dinner. The steaks are terrific (though not cheap) and they made me a great whiskey sour. What more could a gal want?”

“This is a store front/ jerky production facility. Their jerky is made onsite. They use a unique grinding/drying process that makes it very easy to chew. Lots of free samples of jerky as well as local jams, honey, and other goods. ”

“Beef jerky artists. Testing each flavor to perfection, alongside our unique texture, and tenderness is our recipe for amazing jerky. It all began in the northern woods, making jerky for our trips to the wilderness using a simple dehydrator with pre-mixed flavor packets. This quickly evolved into experimenting with various spices turning the kitchen into a laboratory. Here we are today, spreading flavor to the masses with our growing beef jerky varieties. There's plenty to go around, so go ahead and dig in.”

“Best tacos in Austin area! Orlando is also the friendliest taco seller around. It's worth the wait standing in line to get these tacos; that line is there for a good reason, I promise! If they haven't already sold out, order the Large tacos; the tortillas are handmade by Orlando's dad and are amazing. They only take cash, but worth finding an ATM for!”
