The Micro is a THOW (tiny home on wheels) and has been voted one of the best Airbnb Rentals in the ADKs by NYupstate. We wanted to design a space that was practical yet comfortable. It is quirky as we used some non-traditional materials. This is our first THOW and we are still learning quickly how good design becomes imperative in a small space however, the Micro will have all the amenities and comfort that one would need, plus of course an added uniqueness.
We first became interested after the Tiny House was featured in a Christmas special on FYI's Tiny House Nation in 2015. We became enthralled at these THOWs and knew this would be our next project.
The Micro is excellently located between the villages of Lake Placid (5 miles) and Saranac Lake (4 miles), both places are equally interesting to explore.
  • This tiny home exceeded our expectations in all ways! It was the perfect little space for the two of us looking to get out of the city and be in nature. The views from every window were incredible, and in the afternoon the sunlight streaming in made the whole house cozy. All of the thoughtful touches did not go unnoticed - from the fireplace on the wall, the Bluetooth speaker, toiletries, and kitchen amenities. It was very clean and well maintained, and all communication with the host was very straightforward and easy to understand. We can’t wait to go back and stay here again!

  • Exceptional! This place is simply EXTRAORDINARY, we loved our stay everything was perfect.

  • Amazing space, thoughtful hosts! We were cozy and toasty even in sub zero temps! Love the area, perfect stay!

  • I truly don't know where to begin! First off, Jodi and Neil for extremely responsive and answered all of my questions, and believe me...I had a lot! I booked this trip as a surprise for my boyfriend and was extremely nervous it would be crowded. This place and the hosts went above and beyond to make it so cozy. There was plenty of space and more! We even experienced some snow which made the experience even better! Having a full kitchen allowed us not to constantly eat out which was really nice. We took some suggestions from our hosts guide book which was awesome. You truly cannot beat the location and price! I cannot wait to come back!

    Kelsey2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • This place is amazing! This hosts were great with directions and giving advice on stuff to do in the area, perfect for skiers or anyone just looking to visit the lake placid/saranac lake area. I strongly recommend this tiny house to couples or a single person!

  • Very cute and clean place. The bed was so cozy, that we didn’t want to get out of it. I was worried that it might be cold but it was very well insulated and the heaters were awesome. Very creative decor and sweet touches throughout the home. Can’t wait to come out in the summer.

  • This is the second time we’ve stayed at Neils tiny house and it was even better than the last time. Such a quaint and super clean place. LOVE the privacy and and the entire space. Perfect distance between Placid and Saranac Lake.

  • We really loved our stay in Jodi and Neil’s tiny house and enjoyed discovered the natural sites because of Neil’s suggestions. They were very quick to communicate with us. We would like to come back again!

  • Fantastic small home! Living small is the way to go.

    Susan2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • We loved the tiny house. Great location to both saranac lake and lake placid.

    Andrew2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • Received a message bright and early from Jodi stating that the house was ready at any time which was perfect because we would be in the area earlier than check in. We definitely missed the driveway the first time but that was our own fault, the marker is clearly visible on the tree. Parking is easy and the spot was plowed along with the walkway. The “tiny” house was absolutely beautiful. So many little touches that just made the house. That bed was SO comfortable, I couldn’t believe it. I have absolutely nothing negative to say about it and we would come back. Even the proximity to everything was extremely close which was very nice.

    Kelli2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • This place is a total gem. Totally acurate depictions of the space but once you are in it it feels so much bigger. The decorations are great and the space is very welcoming. I had no need to contact Jodi as everything was explained in the check-in instructions but she was nice enough to contact me to make sure I was ok with the place. Overall it was a great experience. I decided to bring my own bed sheets and towels and it worked out better for me. My wife loved it and said it's one of the best places we have stayed at so far. I agree.

    Tyrone2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful and cozy cabin with easy access to both Lake Placid and Saranac Lake. The home had more than enough room for two us and could easily hold around 5 people. There were a lot of special touches to this place that makes it very unique. Love the large window and open living area to watch the snowfall. While there were a couple other cabins nearby, you would never know it. It was very quiet and peaceful. Easy access to nearby trailheads for Scarface and Haystack/Mckenzie Mountains trails. Would love to stay here again in the Summer.

Our 30' yurt sits at the top of a 25 acre pasture grazed by sheep, lambs and laying hens with phenomenal views of Whiteface and the Adirondack mountains. Plenty of space for 2-6 people on an adventure into the mountains available from September - early June. Firewood (only heat source) for purchase at the farm, bring sleeping bags for cold weather. Our yurt is not a fully conditioned space, it's a somewhat insulated tent. Plan accordingly, read the reviews, ask questions.
Make sure to read the full listing for details. Its a 30' diameter yurt with glass french doors at the entrance, 3 double hung windows and a plexiglass dome allow natural light in. There is electricity - kitchen lights, a few lamps and some string lights, a fridge, and outlets. There's a propane stovetop and counter tops inside with a propane grill outside. Basic kitchen necessities. 40' away is a composting outhouse, just toss some wood shavings in after each use. There is NO running water at the yurt - there is a 7 gallon water jug that you can fill from the blue hydrant by the barn (lift all the way up and wait a few seconds for water to flow - see photos). Showers are available (April-Oct) for donation at the KOA Campground on Fox Farm Rd in Wilmington near Whiteface Mtn - about 12 minutes from the yurt). There is a wood stove for heat - please READ the instruction page next to the stove, that is the only small heat source and will take a while to warm up and take the edge off. Stove warms yurt to 40 degrees F above outside temp. Firewood available for purchase at the farm or at the many roadside stands locally. Due to potentially invasive insects, please do not bring firewood from more than 50 miles away. THIS IS A CAMPING EXPERIENCE ****The yurt has only basic insulation. If staying with us in colder temperatures, you should be comfortable camping in the fall or winter and bring appropriate clothing, sleeping bags and gear for the temperatures.**** There is an electric blanket on the queen beed. Please understand this is not a fully conditioned space, the wood stove can warm it up around 40-50 degrees F above the outside temp. It is rustic, adventurous lodging - similar to renting a backcountry hut, except you can drive right up to it and its on a cool little farm with phenomenal views! Read past reviews, come prepared, ask questions. Check us out on Instagram.
15 minutes to Whiteface, 20 minutes to major trailheads, 25 minutes to Lake Placid. Cross country ski around the pastures and through the woods when there's snow. We're happy to help you figure out where to hike/ski/climb, and recommend places to eat.
  • The blue pepper farm is a charming and rustic site. The accommodation is very private. It was our second visit and it will certainly not be our last. We highly recommend :) Be sure to taste the delicious products from their farm. The chorizo and lamb sausages were tasty.

  • An absolutely beautiful farm with lovely hosts, we will defiantly be staying here again. The view is phenomenal!

    Jillian2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • The view is unbelievable.!Perfect location to many hikes and to disconnect from the outside world. We would stay there again.

    Florence2020-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • The view of the mountain outside of the yurt is beyond incredible - keeps me coming back! The yurt is charming and exactly as described - super spacious, basic kitchen essentials, a comfy bed, cozy living room! The new wood stove rocks!!! It heats up the space quickly and with little amount of wood! I would definitely suggest bringing an electric blanket to use in the cool mornings on the couch if you plan on sitting to eat or enjoy a coffee! Made all the difference this year!

    Francesca2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • Great experience, I loved the yurt and the view of the mountains. Tyler and Shannon are great host, they shared their story and love for the farm with us, I will most definately rent again!

    Melanie2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • This was the perfect spot for an adventure with my two young kids! We loved being so close to the sheep, learning about the farm from Shannon, and gathering wood and fetching water. It truly was exactly what I was hoping for, and my 7 year old was very upset to leave. He is already planning our next trip to the yurt :)

    Jessica2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Love staying at blue pepper farm! Hosts are very friendly and willing to answer questions, and the yurt has lots of awesome touches. Heated blanket was great for the winter. View is amazing, great place to stay to do some weekend hiking or skiing.

    Hannah2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Located near Whiteface mountain and Lake Placid, this cozy and beautiful yurt is nestled into the woods next to open pastures which, during the day, host a flock of sheep and some gorgeous sheep dogs. The yurt itself has everything necessary for a cozy night including a woodstove that, despite the freezing temperatures outside, kept us warm and comfortable. The hosts have provided an extremely easy to follow manual for the stove as well as a useful guide for restaurants and other activities in the surrounding area. We are definitely planning on staying here again!

Tucked in the woods on our working sheep farm, our off-grid tiny house is the perfect escape and stepping stone into the Adirondack mountains for hiking, skiing, and snowshoeing. Enjoy the coziness of the Crook between forays into our north country wilderness! What you will find: adventure, peace, quiet, woodstove, candles, down blanket, fire pit, privacy, composting outhouse, firewood for sale. *Please note there is NO electricity and NO running water. Akin to glamping!
The Crook is just 200 square feet plus an 8'x8' sleeping loft with a steep ladder, NO ELECTRICITY, NO RUNNING WATER. Lots of windows and a big sliding front door let in lots of light during the day. The composting outhouse is 30' out the back door, just add some shavings from the bin after use. There's a small one-burner propane stove on the counter in the small kitchen space equipped to cook/eat for 2. Use the blue water jug to get potable water from the blue handled hydrant by the barn (pull the handle all the way vertical - see photo). Showers can be found (*April-Oct*) for donation at the KOA Campground on Fox Farm Rd in Wilmington near Whiteface Mtn - about 12 minutes from the yurt). The Crook has basic insulation and the only heat source is a small Vermont Castings wood stove. When you arrive it will likely be the same temperature as outside unless folks had a fire that morning before departing and it will take a few hours to warm up. Firewood NOT included in price. Self-sufficiency is a must! Be prepared for a rustic and adventurous experience. You will find a few basics, like mugs, plates/bowls, silverware. Heat water on the stove to wash your dishes in the wash bin - dump the water out back. ***Firewood is available for purchase 100' from the Crook in the woodshed - its $.50 per log on the honor system, leave cash or Venmo us @Tyler-Eaton-19. You can also get wood at roadside stands in the area (esp Wilmington) and at Stewarts Shops.
The town of Jay is pretty tiny with very few services. Devins gas station and deli is open Mon-Sat, closed Sundays. The farm is 46 acres and the Crook is tucked back in the woods in a very private setting minus the Yurt 100 yards away. Food/groceries are at least a 10 minute if not 30 minute drive.
  • Nice little cabin that makes you feel off the grid for some time. I would suggest to bring extra towels to dry dishes or pick up messes. Bring slippers, especially if your feet get cold easily. Having cards or board games or a book is a must. We brought our own cast iron pan, which ended up being very useful. Basically pack as if you are going camping. It’s a real treat this cabin, you will enjoy yourself!

  • Great spot. Very convenient to Whiteface.

    Jonathan2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Shannon and Tyler are friendly hosts. The place was as advertised and a nice experience. A great place to come back after hiking and exploring the area. We used some of their firewood and some firewood from a roadside stand and found that theirs was well seasoned and perfect for the wood burning stove. Looking forward to trying some lamb chorizo I purchased from the farm during my stay.

    Brad2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • Everything was perfect here! Apart from the fact that I am mildly inexperienced on how Like an indoor fire, our experience was so perfect! The place was so special and beautiful. I cannot wait to come again

    Malayah2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • What a great stay! Location was fantastic, and we didn't want to leave the cozy cabin. Great adventuring locally, we will definitely be back again in the winter!

    Logan2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • This was an amazing stay can’t wait to go back!

    Kiersten2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • We had a very enjoyable stay at Tyler’s tiny house. We came in mid-February so it was definitely cold before the wood stove got heated up, but that’s to be expected. We loved the remote-ness and feel of being in the woods. The property is amazing and the location was wonderful to hike and explore the Adirondacks. Would recommend!

    Amanda2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • This was EXACTLY what I had been scouring the internet for. Something basic and rustic enough to feel connected to the woods and live simply, but also warm enough in winter and aesthetically pleasing (not ugly/weird/gross) - and in my price range! So happy I was able to stumble on the Crook and book some free nights. The farm is aptly located near the High Peaks region and in a stunning spot. The farm is lovely, the woods hiding the yurt and tiny house even lovelier. Tyler and Shannon are very sweet and very responsive. Fear not about being warm - I almost baked myself alive the first night after only a few logs in that little stove! Takes a minute to heat up but very effective. And you can buy eggs and meat from their farm if you'd like. The Crook is everything you need to cook, relax, sleep, meditate, adventure, and just be - simply, reasonably, privately, and beautifully.

  • Comfortable, clean apartment in a really beautiful, private location - super convenient (~10 minute drive) to skiing at Whiteface!

    Julia2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • It is a beautiful and peaceful place. Greg is a really great host.

    Carl2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Greg’s place is great. We came up for the weekend to ski Whiteface and it’s only a 10 minute drive away and super easy to get to. The place is clean, spacious and has all the amenities you’d need (coffee, hot water, comfortable beds/sofa bed). It was absolutely perfect for a group of 3 - the pictures don’t do the place justice! Greg was available if we needed him, and we were made to feel right at home. Couldn’t recommend his place enough. During the winter snow tires/chains/4WD are advised as the driveway is long and uphill - we found out the hard way!

    Sam2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Greg's place is amazing! Would highly recommend it to anyone who wants to feel as though they're in the woods, but not missing any modern amenities.

  • Staying at Colleen and Bill's Tiny House was the perfect escape we were looking for. It was so peaceful and cozy, we felt right at home the second we pulled in. Both Colleen and Bill were so hospitable and it was always a pleasure to chat whenever we encountered them. The location was perfect, a quick drive to anything we needed, and the space including the bathroom was immaculate (I was a bit nervous about the compost toilet, but it was surprisingly pleasant) . Overall, It was the picturesque fall escape my husband and I were looking for. We're already making plans to go back!

Put on a record, sit back with a cocktail, and watch the cows slowly amble through the mountain pastures.
A bit about the place, Sugar House Creamery is a farmstead creamery in the high peaks region of the Adirondack mountains. Dairy farms are few and far between in this part of the world so the sight of our Brown Swiss making their way back to the barn for milking is especially remarkable. The space is a newly renovated studio-style apartment located in the loft of the old carriage barn on our farm. The interior is fresh and new with a charming, vintage decor. Features a private balcony that overlooks the green pastures and the distant Sentinel Mountain range, a turntable with record collection, a mini bar stocked with assorted glassware and cocktail fixings (minus the alcohol), a jotul gas stove for chilly nights. Une maison d'hote a la ferme! Les francophones sentiraient bienvenues--nous parlons francais!
If you want to get off the farm and explore the Adirondacks, the Carriage Barn is within minutes of a myriad of hiking trails, a stones throw from the Ausable River full of swimming holes and epic fly fishing sites, and smack dab in the middle of the most popular Adirondack biking routes. We are: -5 miles from Whiteface Mt. -6 miles from Keene -11 miles from Keene Valley -14 miles from Lake Placid. Ask us for dining recommendations!
  • Very pleasant week end at the sugar house creamery. The whole farm is very beautiful and the flat is perfect, clean, well decorated with all the necessary stuff (coffee, oil, kitchen stuff, spices, etc). We had an amazing time in the house and around in the surrounding villages. Alex and Margot were always available when needed and double checked to see if everything was ok, which was really appreciated. Thank you so much for this amazing week end!

    Sandrine2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • This is our second time staying at Sugar house and we had another amazing stay here! Last stay we didn’t have a chance to see them milk the cows so we made sure to stop in . The staff at the farm was so informative we even got lucky and saw a live cow birth! Alex was so helpful and gave us great recommendations about what to do in the area. We will be back next year!

    Nick2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • We had an amazing getaway at Sugar House Creamery. The carriage barn is cozy, well-equipped and sparkling clean - perfect for two :) The hosts were friendly and had amazing recommendations for food and activities nearby. Would definitely stay again!

  • We’ve turned this particular AirBnB into an annual trip for us and this was our 4th visit - such a unique and cozy accommodation in the middle of the most beautiful region of ADK. Always clean, comfortable, and homey in a peaceful setting - great location to anything you could want to do: hike, ski, snowshoe, shop stores in Keen/Lake Placid, but you could stay the day at the farm and be just fine. Plenty of food and drink options within the neighboring towns.

    Hannah2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • It was a really pleasant stay! Alexander is a gold guest, very simple. Personally, the care given to the decoration and the feeling that the hosts "give love" to their accommodation is very important and that is what I felt during my stay in this magnificent small accommodation. Highly and warmly recommended!

  • This is the second time we've stayed at the Sugar House Creamery! We really enjoy the stylish space, and having the chance to explore the farm and visit with all the friendly animals. Perfect for a cozy getaway in the perfect location in the Adirondacks.

    Gabriella2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • This was our second stay in the Carriage House. Once again we really enjoyed it. It's close enough to Whiteface for our snowboarding, but also offers a unique rural experience in a charming well appointed studio apartment. The cows are so charming and the local tips were really helpful. We highly recommend this accommodation!

Located between Lake Placid and Saranac lake, with Scarface Mountain only 200 yards away. Two bedroom cabin (King and Queen beds) with a large fenced back yard with a fire pit. This house is dog friendly with two large doggie doors to back yard. We do have an additional $50 cleaning fee for dogs. Lots of parking and additional parking for trailers. Nice back yard lounge area and a Barbecue for grilling. The house is located on a main road there will be some road noise.
Our chocolate lab, Duke, is a family member and he goes everywhere with us including vacations. So we wanted to be able to give our guest the ability to bring their four legged family members along with them. We know how important they are and how stressful it can be leaving them behind. This is a nice updated 1950s cabin with a quiet large fenced in back yard for privacy. Sits on a corner lot in Ray Brook. Great for a family getaway in the mountains.
  • This has been our favorite place that we have stayed at. It was clean, cute, had a fenced in yard and everything you need for your pets! Highly recommend you stay here!

    Amanda2020-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • Warm, comfortable, very clean and well equipped. We loved our stay!

    Chantal2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Duke's cabin was the perfect set up for my family staying in Lake Placid. It is close both to Lake Placid and Saranac Lake so plenty of options for recreation. The hosts were very accommodating in having a crib, swing and pack n'play available for our infant. We also enjoyed that the cabin was dog friendly allowing the whole family to travel together. The cabin was clean and well-stocked with hygiene products and food staples (coffee!). Sarah was also very responsive throughout the weekend of our stay, answering questions and following up on the plow as we were there during a blizzard. Duke's Cabin was definitely a great find and we will definitely stay again as we travel to the area multiple times each year!

    Eileen2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Convenient location! Thoughtful amenities!

    Keith2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin was perfect for our family of four plus our four legged kid. Amazing space and super clean. The location is perfect for doing thing in Lake Placid or Saranac. Great host too!

    Gregg2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay, has everything you could need. It was a comfortable place just away from whiteface mountain. 8/8 would stay again.

    Justin2020-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • Location is right on 86, HOWEVER, it is perfectly situated between Lake Placid and Saranac Lake. We couldn't even hear the cars, so it's location on 86 did not affect our stay at all. Make sure you follow the host's directions, NOT your GPS. You will end up 20 minutes from where you need to be. It is right across from the Tractor Supply and next to a great gas station (AMAZING food...for real...giant GIANT sandwiches). Overall, we had a great time!

  • Excellent place to stay if you plan on skiing or snowboarding whiteface mountain, it’s close to town, lake placid is decently close as well, it also has an amazing view of whiteface mountain, excellent hospitality to say the least.

  • Amazing view. I loved the little touches as well. Things like having a little breakfast setup for visitors. Great stay. Exceptionally welcoming.

    Carter2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin is exactly as described, and the view is if anything even better than described! Heating is through individual propane stoves but they work perfectly and very effectively.

    Solveil2020-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • Very outstanding accommodations. Super clean and nice. The little touches made it special. Highly recommend to others.

  • John and Rachel’s place is exactly as described, and is excellent value for money. The location is great- in the country but close (20-min, or less) to all the winter sports facilities. Although the house is located beside the highway, there was very little traffic in the evening and almost none at night. The house was spotlessly clean when I arrived. I particularly appreciated the jacuzzi after a day outdoors. It was very snowy when I was there - great for skiing, but not the best for appreciating the amazing mountain view from the home. Can’t wait to return!

    Brian2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at John & Rachel’s place really exceeded expectations! When we arrived, the house was spotless and full of thoughtful touches: snacks, necessities in the fridge, cute decor, etc. We absolutely loved the propane fireplace as the main source of heat. It was so cozy and such a nice ambience every time it kicked on. They’ve also put little electric “fireplaces” in the bedrooms, which added to the charm. The view is spectacular from almost any point in the house. We really enjoyed sipping coffee each morning overlooking the high peaks and being able to watch the sunset in the evening without leaving the house. We spent one day at Whiteface and loved the convenience of the location - it took us about 15 minutes to get there - a huge relief to get back so quick after a long, tiring day! We were also nice and close to Lake Placid, where we spent another day hopping around town. If you’re interested in visiting the high peaks area, this is the place to stay!

Step under a pair of moose antlers and enter a serene world without cellphone reception. Swing in a hanging log chair and have a BBQ on a screened-in porch with views of a pond. Borrow a canoe and go paddling on nearby lakes and rivers.
The cabin is in the Loon Lake area. It's a 20-minute drive to Saranac Lake and 35 minutes to Lake Placid.
  • This was my second time visiting Camp Arden, and my first time with my wife. What a beautiful location to spend our honeymoon!!! We loved it so much, we felt so at home there. The gallery cabin is very cozy has everything you need for a very enjoyable stay. Christina took great care of us anytime we needed something. You won't regret your stay

    Kelley2019-10-16T00:00:00Z
  • We absolutely adore this cabin! In fact, this was our second time visiting this year! It’s relaxed, cozy, quiet, completely perfect in every way. We fell in love the first time and felt exactly the same way the second time around. We’d never leave if we had the choice! 5+ stars, hands down. We are extremely grateful to have the chance to stay at such a unique space. We’ll be visiting again in the future! Brittney & Matthew

  • If you’re looking for a private, cute place to stay, this is it! It’s very secluded and is the perfect size for two people. It was clean and the decor fit the backwoods feel. I would definitely recommend it!

    Sierra2019-10-09T00:00:00Z
  • What a great place to stay. We had two much too short days here. We would have liked to stay longer. The hut is so great, for us from Germany very unusual this peace and loneliness, wow !! A well maintained property. The cabin has everything: a good shower, a comfortable bed, coffee maker and a welcome syrup. The swing on the porch was so great with a view of the pond. In the evening we sat by the campfire. Thank you very much for being here.

    Nina2019-09-30T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely little cabin and peaceful getaway!

    Carla2019-09-25T00:00:00Z
  • A majestic stay in the ADK! Precisely what we were looking for and more. Camp Arden is an ideal place to disconnect and discover. The soothing sound of the water over the dam. Waking up to a Heron hunting outside our window. A morning paddle on Carpenter Lake. Absorbing the rich history of this Adirondack gem by touring the property/museums. Exploring the 188 acre property on it’s beautiful trails. Your choice of level of interaction with Christina and fam (who were great). Very close proximity to Lake Placid and Saranac Lake. We will be back no doubt!

  • This place is great. We've now visited twice because of how cute and quaint it is while still including every amenity you could think of. Such a relaxing and beautiful getaway at the A-Frame

    Jack2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • The A-Frame is beautiful. My husband (of two days) and I walked in and both walked around the house going “omg look at this!” “Wow, look at this!” It was the perfect honeymoon getaway. Cozy fires in the living room with our dog curled up in front was picture perfect. The sound of the stream from the deck is so relaxing. The house has everything you could need, no detail has been forgotten. Highly recommend the A-Frame as a romantic getaway. -Grace, Brian and Toby

    Grace2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • This is our absolute favorite Airbnb of all time! It's a wonderfully cozy A-frame that makes you feel at home and it's nestled in a great location in the Adirondacks! We first stayed here in 2014 and fell in love with winter getaways spent in front of a fireplace and snowshoeing. So glad we could back it back to Jeanne's A-frame--highly recommend! Now we need to return in the summer months for some great hiking in the area.

    Haley2020-03-01T00:00:00Z

  • The breathtaking view from every room is worth every penny, the tranquility and the coziness of the cabin was everything we hoped for and more to say the least. Lisa and Edward took the time to explain every detail to make sure our stay was that much more comfortable. It’s a bit remote, so be sure to bring your own groceries as the stores around aren’t as great. We realized we had forgotten a few things for lunch but to our surprise (and relieve) there was a pantry full of essentials for our convenience and a well equipped kitchen. The stove was a bit of a struggle and tricky to use but we got the hang of it after a few tries. Overall, we had a great vacation and encourage you to look no further :)

    Pamela2019-10-28T00:00:00Z
  • What a wonderful place to rest and relax. Lisa is a great host. Loved the cabin, so cute and has everything you need. We especially loved canoeing on the lake at dusk.

  • This home on a small lake is absolute perfection. The home is beautifully decorated and filled with everything you could possibly want for your stay from the kitchen and bathrooms to the books, games, and kayaks. It is the gem that you want to rave about but don’t want too many people to know about so you will hopefully be able to get a reservation in the future. You will want to come back!

    Paula2019-10-19T00:00:00Z
  • Truly a quintessential Adirondack experience. The cabin location, views from within, and amazing vintage decor makes Lisa's cabin on Beaver Pond a destination, activity, and attraction in an of itself! Highly recommend and searching the calendar for a future visit.

    Doug2019-10-10T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely gorgeous! The views were stunning, the house was beautifully decorated, and everything you'd need was right at hand (kayaks, s'mores, cooking supplies). Lisa was a wonderful host and had thoughtful recommendations and tips throughout. It was a perfect place to get away and decompress. As soon as we got there we were thinking about when we could come back. An absolute gem!

This charming log cabin is located in the High Peaks of the Adirondack Park on the West Branch of the Au Sable River in the Town of Jay. The Broken Arrow Lodge is secluded and surrounded by woods on a two-acre lot. This rustic cabin is only 20 minutes from Whiteface Mountain and 25 minutes to Lake Placid. The kitchen has all the necessary appliances and utensils as well as a coffeemaker. Pets are welcome.
  • Dave and Jeans home was much more than we expected! Completely surrounded by woods and nature. There’s a trail that leads to the river, about a 5 minute walk. It’s about 30 minute drive to near by towns for stores. We took a ride to Paul Smith’s college VIC. They have beautiful trails. We plan on returning again soon!

    Alicia2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Really enjoyed the cabin.

    Bill2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Great location, about 20 minutes away from Whiteface mountain. Very clean and great wifi! We enjoyed the fireplace and free firewood provided. Pleasant short walk to a river behind the cabin. Two bathrooms were a nice perk for our group of 5. Only complaint would be that the coffee machine was a Keurig and we were only prepared for drip coffee so bring K-cups!

    Austin2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Dave's cabin was a wonderful place to stay, everyone in our group thoroughly enjoyed being there. The cabin was cozy and had all the amenities we needed and then some! I also loved that it was dog friendly. I would definitely stay here again!!!

  • The place was nice and secluded. The host was very quick to respond to problem we had. The kitchen had even had baking sheets besides pots and pans. But if you plan to cook a big pot of pasta (or anything), you may want to bring a pot. None was big enough to boil pasta for a family of 4.

We stayed in January so it was cold at night however you’d never know. The cabin heats quickly and stays nice and cozy. My favorite part was the jacuzzi tub and love that it’s dog friendly. Definitely will return!

  • This is a perfect place and has everything that we were looking for. It is a short, 5 min, drive to Whiteface and about a 15 -20 min drive into Lake Place. It has everything that we were looking for. The place is small, but perfect for 2-4 people. Everything was clean. We would definitely stay again.

  • This cabin has really nice wood work, amazing view from the bedroom and living room, clean, warm and cozy. Loved how warm the entire place stayed especially the bathroom. Everything was thought out very well. The hot tub was clean and water added daily. The stars were crystal clear our last night. It was nice to see shooting stars from the hot tub. There is a nice flume trail we hiked on 86 down the road from the cabin that runs along the ausible river. Hope and Travis responded to our needs. Couldnt have asked for more. Perfect getaway place :) Thank you for letting us stay.

  • All I can say is wow. This house was amazing. We went up for my brothers 30th birthday to go and snowboard Whiteface Mountain in Wilmington NY. It was about a 15 minute drive from the house. We arrived and the house was spotless. Not to mention we got there right before Mother Nature later down 18 inches or snow. Location was quiet and in the woods. I travel to north woods Maine every July, and this home reminded me of Maine! Thank you again Brit for allowing us the opportunity to stay in your place.

  • Patti’s place was wonderful, and a great value ! A great location, it included kitchen, bathroom with a great shower, cozy living room, and a loft. Very family friendly, would be great to stay at with kids. Our favorite part was the wood burning stove, it made for a nice atmosphere and heated the place nicely- especially since we were there when the weather was almost -20F! Overall very spacious, clean, and provides everything you need for a stress-free stay. Would highly recommend.

She provides the best possible experience a renter could ask for. As far as the house it is beautiful and the view is outstanding. I have stayed twice now at it and would be there right now if I could be. I brought my dog with me and she was very accommodating for him. He loved the house and the lake probably just as much if not more than me. The house is built with only the finest materials. And there is no bad view from inside or out. I really appreciate everything Barb has done for me while I stayed there. And would recommend it to anyone that wants a peaceful getaway. You will not be disappointed in any way shape or form. Our expectations were far exceeded! This place is absolutely beautiful, we can't wait to return! I've rented through Homeaway and VRBO a number of times and this was by far the nicest home we've ever stayed in. The home was more than anyone could ask for. The views of the lake were fabulous and the home was equipt with pretty much anything you would ever need. It was very hard to leave. My wife, 1-year-old and I spent a week in this beautiful place at the end of January. The setting is magnificent, with breathtaking views of lake Champlain and beautiful rural Vermont landscapes. Nearby are local stores and restaurants, and a bit farther away Middlebury is easily accessible. The house itself is beautifully designed and equipped with its wood floors, cathedral ceilings, spacious kitchen, large windows that give on the lake, gas stove to keep things cozy in the winter, jacuzzi, and ping pong/ pool table/ dart board/ games downstairs. There was quite a bit of snow on the ground when we were here, but the house was nice and warm. We walked out onto the lake where people were ice fishing, and went sledding with the baby. The hosts were very welcoming- they baby proofed the electrical outlets for us, left some local specialities for us to try, and gave us lots of pointers. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a house on lake Champlain! Rating: 5 STARS! We finally had a chance to truly relax in a remarkably beautiful setting. Our charming hosts who live just down the driveway even provided a small basket of Vermont goodies for us when we arrived. Although 6 can indeed fit here, it was perfect for just 2 of us!. There is a bed for 2 in the basement and a bed for 2 upstairs with a magnificent view of the lake. The sleeping loft is in the upstairs bedroom and could sleep two more. You can lie in bed and see the stars through the skylight! The kitchen is very well equipped - a true plus as I do a fair bit of cooking. The lake is steps away and the kayaks and paddle boat were fun to use. The house is light and airy and beautifully maintained. This was my first experience renting a vacation home and I was very impressed with how smoothly everything went. The town of Vergennes is close by and has a great diner called Three Squares. Breakfast is fabulous- supper fresh eggs and delicious bacon! The Maritime Museum, which I thought had great promise....was a disappointing bore....hopefully they will get better in time. Verizon cell reception was very dicey, but the owners tell us that ATT works better. We found we could plug our IPOD into the television and we were able to play all of our own tunes. I recommend this property highly and without reservation. I plan to visit again next year! Rating: 5 STARS! David - Review Submitted October 7, 2010 Date of Stay August 7, 2010 Thank you! We had a wonderful time. Your lovely house was the perfect getaway for us, as would be for so many people. While we enjoyed a week of lounging, lazing, kayaking and cooking in, others could easily enjoy so many other activities, like hiking, swimming, and enjoying the many activities that Middlebury has to offer. The house is gorgeous. The main bedroom, with its breathtaking views and large windows, was like sleeping in a landscape painting. And the master bathroom, with its jacuzzi tub that overlooked the lake, just added to our relaxation. Finally, your own accommodations never failed to make us feel more welcome. Whether it was sharing songs with us on your porch or coming by to make sure that the outlets had safety plugs to ensure that our 1-year old was unharmed, we felt like we were well taken care of. Thank you again for a lovely vacation. It was exactly what we needed. PERFECT GETAWAY! - 5 STARS! My wife and I stayed here over Christmas together with another group of friends. It was one of the best trips we've had. The host Barbara was very helpful and the house was newly built, renovated and everything was perfect! On our way to the house, my car got stuck in the snow and couldn't move up one of the hills in VT. I called Barbara and Barbara immediately offered to help me find an alternate path. Within a few minutes, she got back to me and helped me find my way there. Upon arrival, the house was very clean and well-prepared for our arrival. Dishes were dry, the floor was clean, and everything else was in perfect order. Barbara gave us a tour around the house and introduced us to all the games and activities available. She also gave us a very good introduction to the nearby ski resorts and cities, where we could go for ice fishing etc. The wireless internet signal was also a little weak but Barbara helped to realign the wireless router such that I could get internet access on both floors of the house. The next day, Barbara referred me to a few nearby mechanics so I could get snow tires. When I arrived there they ran out of snow tires and Barbara immediately helped me call up several other stores nearby and when I arrived, I realized that Barbara and even asked them for a special discount on my behalf! We had a really good time. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The house is newly built, so everything is in perfect working order. The jacuzzi on the second floor is superb. But the best thing about this house is its view. Situated by Lake Champlain, it has an amazing view of the lake and the Adirondack Mountains on the other side. We arrived late at night and so we couldn't see the lake, but when we woke up the next morning, all four of us went "WOAHHHHHHH". It's truly insane. We only wished that we went in the summer, for we could not go out boating. Perfect place for a getaway and worth every penny. Rating: 5 STARS! Barbara thought of everything- from kitchen utensils to board games, the house is stocked with everything you could possible imagine needing. It was sparkling clean. The views are beautiful. It was a perfect romantic get-away! Barbara met us at the door to give a very thorough tour as we arrived. She's friendly and attentive; I immediately felt like I was in good hands. This quaint, rustic, one room log cabin was originally built for overflow family during the summer by my father. The cedar logs were cut from our property giving it a truly authentic Adirondack feel. The cabin sleeps 1-3 people. It's located on a large, beautiful piece of property with two main houses, a barn and garage. You are within walking distance to our private swimming hole and beach. There is a horse arena nearby. This is a great location for many attractions in the tourist area.
There is running hot water, electric, toilet, shower, refrigerator, kitchenette, microwave, and Keurig. Towels, flatware, dishes, gas grill. There is also a tv that plays DVDS. We have a trunk with many selections. The bed is a queen bed with a memory foam pillow top mattress. There is no AC, but fans in each window for air flow. There is a fire pit with sitting chairs and an outside hose for cleaning uses and to put fire out. The cabin is located on a big piece of property with 2 other houses, a garage and barn. You will NOT be completely secluded here, but still very much private. Please make sure you understand this before booking! You may see people, you will see horses, and you may see an occasional dirtbike heading into the woods. We occasionally give horseback riding lessons in a nearby arena and have found that our guests love to watch this. We offer kayaks to our guests on a first come, first serve basis. As long as they are down there, you are welcome to use them. The only space shared with anyone is our swimming hole. There are no life guards on duty, please swim at your own risk.
Our cabin is 8 minutes from the village and offers serval restaurants and hiking opportunities. The lake is fun in the summer and fall time is gorgeous here! We are 40 min from Lake George, and an hour from Lake Placid. We are 30 minutes from Keene valley, the famous high peaks, and 20 min from Ticonderoga. We have lived here a long time and know the area very well. If you are looking for something specific, we can help, so let us know!
  • Randi & Liz’ cabin is absolutely amazing and feels like the ‘true adirondack experience’! We loved staying here, eating the homemade granola and watching movies by the fireplace after a long day hiking! Would absolutely recommend!

  • The cabin is perfect and cozy. The gas fireplace stove creates a nice Adirondack ambiance. We loved the coffee, muffins, granola, and eggs. Thank you for making our anniversary weekend special!

  • Randi’s cabin is so cozy and comfortable, warm and inviting, that once settled in, I didn’t venture out until I had to depart the following morning. Also, the milk, pancake mix, and other such thoughtful considerations really made me want for nothing during my stay. The only thing I wished for was more time to enjoy this property!

    Lynn2019-10-04T00:00:00Z
  • The log cabin is very nice and cozy with its secluded location. The fresh eggs, muffins, milk, butter and granola breakfast was tasty and thoughtful. There is a selection of provided DVDs and some good books about the Adirondacks that we enjoyed.

  • A great environment to “get away” without being too far off of the North way. The cabin is quaint and awesome for couples who want to be in a good proximity to the pharaoh lake region, as well as Schroon lake village. The bed and linens are five star comfy! Randi is very hospitable and appears to be near in case of any issues that could arise. The Campfire is nice as are the small trails. Away without being isolated; rustic, however clean and tasteful. If anything, we wish we had more time to explore!

  • Randi & Liz were adorable and very attentive to our needs. The cabin is intimate and very warm, nestled in a meadow in the heart of the forest. It is rustic but has everything you need to be comfortable. Randi was kind enough to let us enjoy outdoor games (swing, tree house). We strongly recommend both for the home and the frame! PS: We have discovered beautiful places that we advise you: - Wild Center Museum Seaplane ride on Long Lake -Handled at Pharoa Mountain (plan 3h / 3h30 d ascent with young children)

We'd like to stress that is a no-frills 5 room bunkhouse and each booking is for a private room unless notified. It is in the basement of a Nordic ski center that operates during the winter months and can feel kind of deserted in the summer. That said, it's a great option for hikers/people looking to explore the region at an affordable price. We love our home, the Adirondacks, and want to provide lodging for all. I make myself available at all hours for questions.
*We can accommodate multiple parties on the same date-if calendar dates are blocked out, chances are we have availability, please message! The bunkhouse at Cascade Ski Center is no frills, bunk style lodging consisting of 6 rooms ranging in bunks from 2-8 people. We are almost always able to give parties/people their own private room, however, during busy times we may fill up and it becomes shared bunkhouse style lodging - we always give guests a heads up about private/shared rooms. We provide a pillow/pillowcase and guests bring their own linen/sleeping bags & towels. There is a common room with tables, chairs, couches, TV, wifi, small mini fridge, toaster, microwave, and hot water kettle. During the winter, we operate a small restaurant/bar onsite that serves food form 11-4:00 PM.
We are centrally located in the heart of the High Peaks for the outdoor enthusiast-just 1 mile down the road from the Adirondack Loj Rd.
  • As others have stated, this is a simple facility, but it's perfect if you're looking for a convenient place to stay at a great price. There is a bar and Cafe that I didn't have the chance to go to, but I've heard great things about! I would definitely come back again, and hopefully stay for a little longer!

  • Had a great stay at Cascade for some XC skiing in the Lake Placid area. This is no frills accommodation, but so was the price! You're pretty much on your own getting settled in, but the staff was friendly and helpful during business hours, and staying at a store that has great XC equipment is a plus.

  • Great find if you are looking to stay in the Lake Placid area! Easy check in and great communication from the host.

  • I never met Jennifer but I had a good stay and she made sure I had all the details of the place I needed. It is just as advertised. I stayed here in between my shift for work. It was fairly quiet but the room I was in was near\beside the stairs if your a light sleeper this may bother you, also since the upstairs entrance to the dorm is above you. I did not have much issues since I’m not a light sleeper but some may. Bathrooms are shared but there is 4 separate bathroom/showers that can be locked. Make sure you bring your own towels, linens, blankets etc. There was a pillow and pillow case and the room was clean and the bathroom were also very clean as well. There is some linens and blankets available. The temperature can be adjusted in the rooms. The bed wes comfortable and the layouts are well throughout.

  • The bedroom and bathroom were all that we required. The best part was the ability to ski right out the back door on very nice well groomed trails. We had a great time.

    Jonathan2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • This place continues to please. I stayed for a second time there this week and I'm so impressed with the way this facility is run. The only thing that I think could use some extra TLC is some more thought to the common area, like some lamps and extra accessories where the water dispenser is. But, for the fact that you get a nice, quiet, private large accommodation at this price, I couldn't recommend it more. A PERFECT choice if you are coming to the area and spending a lot of time outside during the day and just need a place to crash. Better than a hostel and cheaper than a hotel.

    Carlos2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • This is the perfect place to stay if you're a group of hikers, skiers, or climbers looking to explore the area! While the hostel itself is in the basement of a nordic ski center, it's also a short drive away from many different trailheads and the town of Lake Placid. Check-in was incredibly easy and the common area upstairs is a really nice touch. Would definitely come here again!

    Jess2020-02-17T00:00:00Z

"If you're trying to escape Covid19 in your area and come to the Adirondacks -Please Don't right now! Our hospitals are tiny and not equipped to handle added strain if YOU get sick also. Almost all services are closed - no restaurants or bars (take out only) or retail shopping are open. We want to be here when this is all over so you can still come here. In the meantime, please stay at home and wait it out We'll see you when this is all over! Please return then!"
**UPDATE March 13, 2020** Our very first rental does not occur for the season until May 15. Otherwise the rental unit is unoccupied between now and then, so there is no chance of contamination with Covid19 virus by other travelers before that date. We want our guests to feel secure in the knowledge that we sanitize our rental each and every time we clean. We use bleach as well as Clorox Cleaner with Bleach to clean and sanitize all surfaces including TV remotes, switches, door knobs, flat surfaces, cooking and refrigerator surfaces, coffee maker, bathroom and bathroom fixtures, as well as the outside surfaces of the hot tub. We will also be using extra doses of chlorine every day in the hot tub, and all bedding will be washed with the hottest water and large doses of bleach used with sheets laundering after each guest. Please be assured we take our guests safety and welfare very seriously. Our rental is also very secluded, so you will be able to maintain a very secluded vacation. If you desire not to have any contact with us, we will glad give you self check in instructions. Travel safe and arrive here healthy! Timbertrail Ranch Hideaway is a rustic secluded oasis of tranquility and a place to relax to your heart’s content. The bedroom suite opens up to our very large back yard, which is where the private entrance is located. We provide plenty of off street parking Our property abuts forest preserve lands and we are quite far from the neighbors, so there is lots of privacy. The yard has a fire pit with abundant firewood just for you. There is a raised fireplace on the flagstone patio with beautiful gardens, fruit trees and berry bushes surrounding the yard. We provide all the firewood you might need. There are times, when it is very dry in the forest, or when it is very windy, that we may ask you not to use the fireplace. In late summer we have an abundance of blueberries, free for the picking! Occupying most of the entire lower floor of our home, the bedroom space measures nearly 400 square feet. Your own private bath with shower is right there as well. There is an outside hot shower just outside the door near the hot tub. A second set of doors leads to your own large private screened porch with day bed, table and chairs and comfortable chairs for relaxing with coffee or cocktails. You could spend the entire day and never leave if you wanted to. The fragrance of the balsam, spruce and pine forest surrounding our home is truly amazing. Sleeping on this porch is also amazing. Be careful, you might just get the best night’s sleep of your life! The suite does occupy space on the same floor as our laundry room and storage, so you will be sure to hear us on the other side at times. The best part of the whole space is the 8’ x 8’ Tiger River (Hot Springs) hot tub. Maintained at a constant 101 degrees, you can slip into a dreamy soak after a long day of hiking, paddling, cycling or shopping. We use only liquid chlorine along with a non-chlorine sanitizer, so there is never a heavy chemical odor. The hot tub is private while you are home, but we may use it when you are out, so it’s “semi-shared”. We do, however, totally respect your privacy while you are on property. The bedroom has a king size bed with a 3” memory foam topper, making it amazingly comfortable. We provide plenty of towels, top quality sheets and beach towels if you need them. When the weather is nice, we like to dry the sheets outside for that amazing line-dried mountain air fragrance. We also supply a Keurig coffee maker and coffee pods, half & half, small refrigerator for drinks, etc. and a microwave oven. An entire wall of books are there for your reading pleasure as well as a 34 inch flat screen Smart TV with Spectrum Cable. The smart TV provides access to Amazon Prime and Netflix streaming service. We provide extreme speed wireless internet so streaming movies or doing some work (if you have to), checking emails, etc., is never a problem. Our home is also home to two large dogs - Duke, an eight year old Black Labrador/Great Dane (Labradane), and Bear, a nine year old yellow Lab. The dogs are very friendly and LOVE people and will greet your arrivals and visit you outside during the course of your stay. Duke may bark at your arrival - it’s not aggression, but excitement since they love company! It’s your choice if you want to let them in to visit inside or not. We don’t mind if you don’t mind. Keep in mind, they are beggars and they will get on the furniture. Please don’t feed them! As you’ll notice, they get plenty at home! Our yard is also home to an abundance of song birds, hummingbirds, white-tailed deer, red squirrels, a family of crows, wild turkeys, and the occasional fox or other wildlife. The neighboring forest is also home to lots of Adirondack flora and fauna, and you never know what magnificent creature might turn up in the yard. We provide binoculars for up-close viewing on site. We once caught a photo of a bull moose in the yard on our trail camera! In the back yard there’s a great double hammock for lazing away a hot summer day in the shade of the balsams. You won’t want to leave! Our neighborhood is very safe, but due to the secluded nature of our location, we do have security cameras on our property. If you wish the camera near the entrance to your lodging to be turned off, it can simply be unplugged next to the front door to the unit. We like to see the wildlife that frequents our yard. You will have your own parking space and there are motion detecting security lights and strings of lights to guide you down the wooded path to the entrance in the dark if you are out at night. Susan is a native of Lake Placid and has worked for many years in the hospitality business and at the Regional Office of Tourism. Glen is a retired chef and folk artist. You'll see a lot of his whimsical creations around the property. We are both very knowledgeable about the area and all it has to offer, so please don’t hesitate to ask. We provide lots of area tourism information as well as guidebooks and maps, so you can plan your perfect days here in the Lake Placid area. We are a 3 minute drive to the Mt. Van Hoevenberg Olympic Sports Complex where you can ride a bobsled (yes, even in summer!) and tour the Olympic bobsled, luge and skeleton sliding facilities. (Note: summer 2019...the sports complex is under construction with no public access to the facility). The 50 kilometers of cross-country ski trails make for wonderful summer hiking there as well and we can give you a trail map. The Cascade Lakes are a quick 5 minute drive away and offer crystal clear water for swimming, which is awesome on a hot summer day. We also provide a dining guide of local restaurant menus, notated as to which are the local favorites. Timbertrail Ranch is located a short drive from Adirondack Loj Road where some of the major trails to the High Peaks Wilderness area begin. But don’t forget about the outlying hikes where you will find FAR less crowds and a much better outdoor experience. Our local hiking trails tend to be very crowded during the summer and we can offer some suggestions for optional hikes that are just as great and much less congested. There are many within a very short drive of Timbertrail. We have a two night minimum stay and only rent Timbertrail Hideaway from mid-May to mid-October. We do not rent at any other time of year. For holidays and certain special events there will be a longer minimum stay, depending on the event. Timbertrail is a non-smoking property, meaning no smoking anywhere on site.
Timbertrail Hideaway is located 5 miles outside the village of Lake Placid on NY State Route 73. It is a rural setting with homes located quite a distance apart. You will not see any other buildings from your suite. There is a beautiful view of the Adirondack Mountains from the patio and hot tub.
  • Great location, off the beaten path, secluded and private. Clean room and friendly host. Exactly as pictured on website. Would definitely stay again.

    Warren2019-09-27T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing views! Exactly as advertised. Close to all attractions, yet still private! Much better than a hotel stay! Best part during the stay, sitting in the hot tub and just talking during a nice little rain storm.

  • If you're looking for a true ADK space and experience, with quiet and scenic setting, close to Lake Placid, this is the place. The hosts are friendly, responsive and very helpful and their home is truly ADK and offers a beautiful view of mountains from your private back yard area and, the hot tub is the best after a day of hiking or walking, fishing or shopping. It was perfect.

    Cindy2019-09-18T00:00:00Z
  • They were just the nicest people. Their dogs are so cute and friendly too. This was so close to the Van Hoevenberg trailhead for Marcy, which we hiked, and it was absolutely perfect to just relax and crash after such a demanding day. It is adorable and also very nice inside, with a nice bathroom, TV, hot tub, bed, and cookies!! Thank you for the coffee and tea as well. We had a perfect experience.

    Moira2019-09-13T00:00:00Z

  • Had a wonderful stay! The view was amazing.

  • Todd’s place is perfect for a large family or a few couples to get away. We were skiing and it’s just 3-4 mins from whiteface which was great for us. Great place to stay!

    Alex2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • The home was gorgeous & the views were stunning! 20 minute drive from Lake Placid's downtown area. Only thing I would suggest - make sure to buy supplies for the home like toilet paper and paper towels - the airbnb provides limited amounts.

    Yolanda2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • This house was above and beyond our expectations!! If you want a great getaway in the mountains, look no further!!!

    Jenifer2020-01-07T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great house. Terrific location near Whiteface Mountain, beautiful views, kitchen stocked with lots of appliances and gadgets, overall very clean and private. There's a wonderful wildlife refuge just down the road with wolves and other local fauna that's worth a visit. Bring extra towels if you plan to use the hot tub or sauna or you'll run low with what's provided. Also make sure you bring staples and condiments - the host does not provide anything in the pantry.

  • Perfect place, beautiful surroundings, great host

    Carrie2019-12-14T00:00:00Z
  • This house is beautiful and just as pictured with gorgeous views of Whiteface mountain! The house was spotlessly clean, beds were very comfortable, the bathrooms all had blow dryers which was a bonus! Todd went above and beyond as a host to make sure we were comfortable and satisfied! I would 100% stay at Todd’s place again, in fact we are already talking about staying again!

  • We had a great stay at the GO cottage! Cozy and just the right amount of space for two people, plus our pup. The cottage had all the necessities and our dog loved being able to play in the fenced yard. Sharon had amazing recommendations for local restaurants and perfect hikes. We ate at Salt of the Earth and the Mirror Lake Inn and hiked at Henry’s Woods, Heaven Hills, and John Brown Farm. The cottage is perfectly situated and nothing was more than a 10 minute drive away. Would absolutely stay here again. Thanks so much Sharon!

  • Stylish, cosy, and comfortable! The compact kitchen is great, with a coffee maker, fridge and microwave. Great dinner choices just a short walk away. We love how close Go-Cottage is to all the winter activities! A great stay for us!

  • Adorable little spot and easy access to all that Lake Placid has to offer, including a quick drive to the slopes. The place is well maintained, clean and inviting. Also, Sharon was super responsive to my texts/questions leading up to my visit. Overall a great experience.

    Travis2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage was a great location, quaint with all you need, and a fenced in yard for the pups to play carefree. We had a great time!

    Tiffany2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Comfortable and cozy little cottage getaway. Fenced in yard was a huge plus since we had our pup with us this stay. The cottage is in a fantastic location close to everything. Henry Woods is a great trail less than a 10 minute drive away, was perfect to take the dog to for exercise with a view. We had an excellent time and would stay here again.

A modern, two bedroom, one bath apartment above the host's living space, with private entrance. Fully renovated, everything in this space was designed, chosen, and installed by us. We've put a lot of time and love in this space and hope you feel it. Located in a quiet family neighborhood, in the village. A short walk to dinner and shops downtown. The paved path around Mirror Lake is about 3.5 miles roundtrip, and a great morning walk. Come back and relax in the backyard by a campfire.

  • Ashley’s place is beautiful - dare I say luxurious. My family loved it and didn’t want to leave.

  • We really enjoyed staying in the airy and chic space which was very tastefully and thoughtfully designed. The complimentary teas and coffee along with the basic cooking condiments were a great addition to the kitchen stock as were the shampoo, conditioner and soap in the bathroom. Your swift responses were also much appreciated. Thanks for a great stay!

  • This space is so clean and new. It’s gorgeous. The TV is hooked up to services- you just have to sign in. Check in and check out were very streamlined. The space is also well appointed with a variety of high quality amenities- linen sheets, handsome ceramic dishes, new and fashionable spaces. I hope we can come back next year!

  • Ashley's place was awesome. we went to law placid in the winter so we could ski at Whiteface. The apartment was in a great location 10 min walk to all the restaurants. The place was clean and well decorated. I personally am an Airbnb Superhost and own 4 vacation rentals in Florida and really appreciate the care and thought Ashley put into her place. Thanks so much, Derek

  • This was a wonderful respite for the week end, I purchased it for my son and daughter in law. They enjoyed walking downtown and exploring the area. While near perfect, my grandboys are quite spirited. Their parents were happy to have a couple days to themselves.

Authentic Adirondack log lodge-style home sited on a hilltop near Lake Placid's ski jumps, overlooking Whiteface Mt and panoramic forest views with no other houses in sight. Brand New - opened for guests July 2019! This fine log home has 4 bedrooms and 3.5 baths, spread over 3 levels of living, with ample outdoor living areas of bedroom walkout balcony, large decks, and covered porches, helping to keep a close connection to nature both inside and outside the house.
Covid-19 Update: Through end of April we are only open to bookings to single families and minimum 2 week stay during heightened restrictions at this time in New York State, and paired with agreement by the family they will self-isolate at the home and in nature. Per regulations regarding banning gatherings of groups, multiple family groups or friend groups are not allowed to book, with only single family groups allowed to book to be in compliance. The Adirondacks has a long history of providing fresh air and open spaces in times of illness (tuburculosis in the 19th century), and staying up here in the Adirondacks for one or more weeks is a great idea to keep one's own mental wellbeing and also abide by state restrictions on social distancing. A small family unit staying in a private home and not interacting with other people is completely in line with current NY state guidelines and what governor Cuomo said about staying secluded, and only doing solo exercise outdoors such as hiking in remote places. At this time we are not able to host any persons with reasonable suspicion of carrying the Covid-19 virus, as we do want to burden local hospital facilities, and we do not want any risk of exposure of the virus to my housekeepers or any other house guests or to the Adirondack region. We are spending extra time cleaning the home including wiping down all commonly touched surfaces such as cabinets, light switches, doorknobs, etc, as well as fully washing all linens including comforters between each set of guests. Adirondack-style Lake Placid hilltop custom log lodge with Whiteface Mt views. Hilltop privacy, epic mountain views, luxury log home living all located on a quite road used by Olympic athletes for training runs, and located 3 minutes to Olympic Ski Jumps, 5 minutes to Lake Placid, 10 minutes to High Peaks trailheads, 9 minutes to Whiteface Mt ski area, 1 minute to Ausable River fly fishing. This Lake Placid log home has 4 bedrooms for guests and will comfortably sleep 11-12 in beds. All upstairs beds are rustic log post bedframes, and bedrooms all have rustic trimmings of birchbark or cedar bark. The master bedroom suite upstairs has a king bed with a walkout balcony with panoramic views over the Adirondack wilderness and Whiteface Mt that you can wake up to, along with a linear gas fireplace and Adirondack-style furnishings, and a luxury walk-in tile shower, seperate soaking tub, and heated towel rack. Bedroom #2 is upstairs off the loft, has a rustic cedar queen bed and cedar bark accents throughout the room, and opens up onto the loft overlooking the great room and views beyond. Additional twin bed also in room. Bedroom #3 is on the main level, also off the great room, featuring a queen size rustic cedar bedframe. Bedroom #4 in the finished lower level is used as a kids' bunkroom, with 3 twin beds and one bunkbed set for a total of 5 mattresses, and also includes a bathroom adjacent to this bedroom. The house is fully equipped and furnished in a modern rustic Adirondack style with many thoughtful features and details including locally-sourced log and cedar timbers, posts, rails and custom trim. The Great Room features a real wood burning high-efficiency fireplace and stone hearth, massive ceilings and log beams, and a huge whole tree sourced right from the property that serves as the entire structural main beam holding up the entire roof. The great room reading table holds a collection of Adirondack books, maps and essays which should inspire and inform your time in the Adirondacks. Kitchen and dining room are spacious with seating for 10 persons, and with a french door opening up to the open covered porch and deck area, where a grill will be situated. The kitchen is fully equipped including two sinks, ample granite counter space, large french door refrigerator, black stainless appliances, both a Kureg and regular coffee maker, all dishware, and some pantry items curated and carried forward for anyone to use. All linens and towels and soaps are of course provided but you will want to bring your own personal bathroom items including shampoo. There is a washing machine and dryer that will be available for guests use including washing powder included. There are 2 natural stone fireplaces inside the home - a linear gas fireplace in the master bedroom and a wood burning Great Room fireplace with free starter wood provided. Operation instructions will be listed by the fireplace. Additional amenities include a beverage cooler (in TV room), 55" Roku TV in basement entertainment/game room, free fast wifi internet, outdoor gear and ski racks in basement, and a 2nd smaller game-room with either foosball or pingpong. Additional home features including entire home in-floor radiant heating, hardwood floors and natural slate tile throughout, massive log beams sourced right from the homesite during clearing process that support many parts of the house, local Adirondack-sourced materials like white birch bark and cedar bark for accent walls, and Adirondack decor and furnishings throughout the home. Most lighting in the home is of rustic or locally sourced custom design. Outside, the house has a huge deck with Adirondack and rocking chairs looking toward a view of Whiteface Mt and with no other homes in site across the valley. There's an outside dining table under a large covered porch, a swinging hammock for summer evenings, a propane barbecue grill, a 6-7 person hot tub, a canoe and kayaks on the property which can be used on any local lakes and ponds or the Ausable River section near to the house, and a large fire ring with free firewood to burn out in the log woodshed. Firewood for your first indoor and outdoor fires is complimentary. Water and fire safety is important, there will be instructions in the house detailing this. **This is a Shared Duplex-style functionality custom home** Please note this custom log home has a duplex functionality to it, with the main portion of the home open and private to guests, with their own separate private entrance. One wing of the home is used as the owner's walled-off and insulated quarters, which are accessed via a separate exterior entry door on the opposite side of the home. The owner may be residing there during your stay, but will fully respect your privacy and peace with little to no interaction besides a quick welcome hello or passing in the driveway, as there would be in any duplex housing scenario. There are no shared living spaces, ensuring the privacy of renters. The owner will not enter the main portion of the home used by guests, except for emergencies/safety. Please refer to the house blueprints shaded green/red (in the photos section), which depicts the house layout. The owner may be in the Adirondacks at this time of year and may be staying in the owner's/inlaw apartment section, but if he's gone then the complete property privacy should be considered an added free bonus. In 2013 the owner built a smaller log 2 bedroom chalet in Wilmington intended as a residence but turned into a full time vacation rental home (HomeAway/VRBO listing #3651607), this home is a hybrid solution to financing a new home and have a residence also. The owner Johnathan Esper is very well known and regarded throughout the Adirondack region through his landscape photography of the Adirondacks, as well as community ties, and has no criminal background. When there are known periods the owner is away in international travels, the pricing structure may automatically increase by ~10% to reflect the additional absolute privacy of the home and surrounding property. Under some circumstances, the owner's apartment section totaling about 700 sq ft with additional bedroom, kitchen, bath, living room, log spiral staircase, and balcony) may be requested to be rented and opened up to the entire home to be included in the rental, which would incur an extra nightly surcharge of $150/night, at owner's discretion. The owner loves the Adirondacks and log home living, having grown up in a family log home in the Adirondacks, and then building a log chalet overlooking Whiteface and the Ausable River in Wilmington, which is now a popular vacation rental fully booked year round. HomeAway listing #3651607. This Adirondack log lodge style home is now the 3rd, and has been custom designed entirely by the owner to maximize the forested hilltop views and location and incorporates all the best features learned from a lifetime of log home living and also photographing many premier Adirondack properties. Please thoroughly read through the attached rental agreement, to familiarize yourself with the house policies and rules, which include no shoes worn in the home, no smoking around the home, not leaving any egregious messes, safety with fire and watercraft, respecting the grounds, and other common sense policies. Dogs are welcome (no cats) for a pet fee of $10/nt, with additional related pet rules. Payments: Payments and payment schedules and billing reminders are handled by Airbnb automatically. Reservations are only confirmed upon payment, and dates are not possible to be held tentatively. Please refer to my rental agreement for full cancellation policy terms which may differ than the default Airbnb cancellation terms. Location: The house is located on River Road in Lake Placid New York 12946. The home is set a forested hilltop, up a 600ft long switchback driveway above River Rd, with enough pine trees to block the view between the road and the home. Take care when negotiating the steeper switchbacks if you have a large vehicle with a poor turning radius. Overall the house location is very quiet and private, with the views of the mountains and pine trees surrounding the home and the wind amongst the trees. Note: In winter months November - April it is mandatory that are vehicles use AWD or 4-wheel drive. 2WD vehicles not suitable. Door codes and access info will be sent upon booking, for independent self check-in/out. Arrival 4:00pm or later, departure 10:00am or earlier to allow for cleaning between; arrival and departure times are strict, no exceptions. Area Activities: Lake Placid region offers boundless options. Hiking trails are just 5 minutes away at the Adirondack Loj trailheads to the major High Peaks, and there are plenty of smaller easier hikes with great views too. Mountain biking trail networks are a 2 minute bicycle ride down the road. We are located on River Rd which is on the Ironman triathlon course, and so this quiet country road is very popular for road bikers and skate skiers and runners. Fly fish the Ausable River also just 1 minute down River Road to an assortment of eddies and river beds on public land. In the wintertime, Whiteface Mountain Ski Area is just 10 minutes away for world-class skiing, and cross country ski trail networks are also just 5 minutes away. The Olympic village of Lake Placid is only 4 minutes' drive to all the shops and restaurants, and the ski jumps are just 2 minutes away.
The house is along the River Road portion of many triathlon and marathon courses, near the Ausable River for fly fishing, and just down the road from the Olympic ski jumps.
  • You cannot find a better house location than this one. It is so close to everything you may need in LP. The views are breathtaking and you cannot help but leave very relaxed. The house is new so everything is in amazing shape. We had everything we needed between the supplies in the house and the close grocery stores.

  • The stay was incredible and the attention to detail at this property was just breathtaking. Me and my crew will be booking this AirBnB next year for our couples trip again. It was easy access and also very private with plenty of space and things to do. Very easy access to skiing as well.

  • Our stay at John’s place was everything we could’ve wanted and more! John was extremely responsive and attentive to our needs during the days leading up to our visit and all throughout. The house is beautifully designed with thoughtful details you won’t find anywhere else. The home is close enough to the many shops, restaurants and attractions of Lake Placid, yet far enough away for some peace and quiet. It is spotless, equipped with an abundance of amenities, and the views are absolutely breathtaking!

  • Wow! This house is amazing. Great location, beautiful new property, very user friendly and plenty of room. We will be back.

  • Jonathan's place is beautiful and interesting. The open floor plan and lack of clutter that we often come across is amazing, very comfortable space. Literally everything is provided that you may need in the kitchen. Beautiful, truly not another structure in view. 4wd and an experienced driver is absolutely necessary for the steep switchback driveway.

    Emily2020-01-14T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay here was fantastic! The driveway is tricky and was extremely icy. The garbage over overflowing, but other than that it was spotless and the hot tub was freshly cleaned and amazing. The view is amazing and our group of ten had plenty of space to spread out! Would definitely recommend.

    Abbie2020-01-11T00:00:00Z
  • Every it as wonderful as it looks in the pictures! Spotlessly clean, comfortable, with every amenity you could want in a fantastic location - a beautiful view out every window. The heated floors were an especially nice touch, and the pebble floor in the shower felt great after a long day hiking. Check in/check out was a breeze and Johnathan incredibly responsive and thorough.

Traveled with my 7 month old and the baby toys in the house were an added bonus and a great accommodation while we were away from home! We also enjoyed that the house was stocked with tea. Warner’s Camp is a recently renovated, 1800's guesthouse. The house is located in the Adirondacks High Peaks area, directly adjacent to a freshwater river and swimming hole. Our cabin is perched so close to the river that you can hear and see it from nearly every room. The house is only 10 minutes away from Whiteface Ski Resort, 25 minutes from Lake Placid, and 5 minutes from Keene. Recently featured in Apartment Therapy. Follow us on Instagram! @warnerscamp
PLEASE READ 😊 Sleeping Arrangements Warner’s Camp has three traditional bedrooms, plus a sunroom off the kitchen that doubles as a fourth bedroom, and a curtained off sleeping alcove near the living room that can be used as a private sleeping space. The master bedroom upstairs (Loft Bedroom) has a king bed. The second master bedroom (Green Bedroom) downstairs has a queen. The third bedroom (Map Bedroom) sleeps three with one double bed and one twin trundle. The fourth bedroom (Sunroom) and sleeping alcove (Alcove) each have a twin sleeper that can unfold into a queen bed. If coming with a large group, you are welcome to use the large sofa in the living room as an extra sleeping spot. The various sleeping arrangements offer a variety of options for your group, large or small. Please let us know in advance the amount of people coming, so that we can ensure enough linens are provided.  Living Quarters The living room sits in the oldest part of the home, featuring original exposed beams from the 1800’s and a wood burning stove. Firewood is provided, and your first fire is on us. This room is incredibly cozy in the winter, yet stays cool in the summer. The living room Roku TV is equipped with Netflix, Hulu, and other streaming services. In addition, we’ve stocked the cabin with technology classics: record player and rotary phone. Enjoy our record collection! The living room also has a writing desk, so you can plug in and get to work, or disconnect and write that novel. The kitchen and dining room, which were added to the home in the 70’s, feature incredible river views via oversized windows. Watching the flowing river never gets old. We’ve updated the mid century kitchen with local black granite, marble accents, and brand new, retro style appliances (including a dishwasher and double ovens). The kitchen is fully stocked with whatever you might need to make a meal (waffle iron included). Make sure you try the local maple syrup. Both bathrooms in the home are chock-full of character. The downstairs bath includes an antique clawfoot tub and shower. For your convenience, we have added a washer/dryer. The upstairs bath, recently installed, features a rustic galvanized bucket shower and classic tile finishes. Toiletries and linens are provided. Outdoor Living There is a screened in porch located off the the living room that juts out over the river. This is our favorite room in the home. Warner’s Camp also has two large front porches (great for watching the cyclers if a race is going on). The porch near the patio has a propane grill. The riverview patio and beer garden is also very special place. Our gravel patio sits on top on a small cliff that looks over the Ausable River. We’ve lined the patio with large boulders. Enjoy the oversized picnic table and the fire pit surrounded Adirondack chairs. The fire pit is a great year round activity! We love crashing here with a beer in our snow gear after some early spring skiing. Another great year round activity: our exterior barrel sauna! Fire up the stove and hop in for a steam after hiking, skiing, or swimming. Our lot spans over 2 acres with 200 feet of water frontage. Walk down the paths towards the river and you’ll find a hammock suspended over the water, multiple sitting boulders, and finally, our (nearly) private swimming hole. Great for swimming, tubing, and fishing. The house comes equipped with four large inner tubes which you can use in our swimming hole, or take with you to another spot. Connect them to the large boulder in the center of the swimming hole and have yourself a lazy river party! Also a great solo activity.
The Adirondack State Park is a giant natural playground, with a seemingly never-ending supply of hiking, skiing, biking, and fresh water activities. Our town of Upper Jay is a small hamlet conveniently located at the intersection of multiple towns and attractions in the High Peaks Region. Wilmington (the ski town home to Whiteface Mountain) is only 10 minutes away. Lake Placid is a 25 minute drive. The charming town of Keene is a mere 5 minute drive. Keene, 5 Minute Drive We adore the little town of Keene! Craft beer, kombucha, fancy sandwiches, and handcrafted furniture— it’s like Brooklyn meets the ADKs. We purchased Warner’s Camp in part due to its close proximity to Keene. Drive over, or bring your bike so you can ride down on a nice day. Lake Placid, 25 Minute Drive Shouldn’t need much of an introduction. For those unfamiliar with Lake Placid, it’s charming. A quaint Olympic Village with lakeside shops and restaurants. The entire town has a very nostalgic feel to it. Built up for the 1932 and 1980 Olympic Winter Games. You can drive through either Keene or Wilmington to reach Lake Placid from Warner’s Camp. Follow us on Instagram for more local tips! @warnerscamp P.S. You can find a link to our site, with our full area guide, on Instagram 😊

  • We were a group of 9 staying at Amy’s house and we absolutely loved it. We spent some days skiing at Whiteface and it was so close to the mountain. The wood fireplace and sauna were amazing after a long day outside. Amy left very clear instructions for everything and communicated very well. The beds were also so comfortable - I wish I knew where Amy got her bedding!

  • Really nice place! Some mild negatives were that there was limited toilet paper and paper towel provided for 12 guests, and although the place is advertised as sleeping 12, that includes 1 person on a couch. Otherwise, it is spacious, comfortable and stylish!

  • Perfect location for skiers! This place is only a few miles from Whiteface Mountain. The apartments are comfortable and well equipped. It is so convenient to have a dryer to use after a day of skiing. Having the separate apartment also meant that my husband and I had some privacy and the kids got to chill on their own. Have a hot tub after a long day, looking at the mountains! The apartments are brand new and very clean and comfortable. Beds were great!

  • Great place! Very nice! Great for the price.

    Kai2020-02-13T00:00:00Z
  • Great location. Loved watching the blue jays each morning with the mountains in the back ground. Loved the hot tub after a day of skiing. Minutes from Whiteface. Clean, lots of space, comfy beds, couldn’t have asked for a better place for some family time. Highly recommend

  • I haven't had an easier check in. Great price and everything you need for a great stay. Communication with the hose is easy and I always got a fast and helpful response. 5/5

  • Todd place was great! It was exactly what we hoped for. Perfect for those going to lake placid as well as hitting the slopes on white face! The directions/ communication are very clear and made for an easy check-in and check-out. We would definitely book this place again! Highly recommend for those looking for a laid back getaway!

    Alison2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent location, close to slopes, were clean. A little inconvenient having separate entrances for the 2 bedrooms and more likely to fit 6 people comfortably, not 8.

    Radu2019-12-31T00:00:00Z
  • This space does have two separate king sized beds with their own bedrooms. At first I was concerned about privacy, having booked this trip with another couple, but was very happily surprised with the master suite that had its own bathroom and laundry that was separate from the main space. The hot tub had perfect privacy and was plenty large for 4 people. We were also able to bring our two dogs, and was pleased to see a poop bag dispenser located outside the front door. Very helpful. There’s a park across the street and a thrift shop we were able to catch on their very limited hours. The drive to lake placid from this space is AMAZING. We ordered pizza from lake placid, and took the 18 minute drive to enjoy the beautiful “Olympic byway”. I find it hard to complain about anything at this space. Do remember to pack your own toiletries, as the host requests you to shower before using the hot tub.

    Amanda2019-12-12T00:00:00Z
  • Very convenient location to Whiteface and Lake Placid is less than 30 minutes away. Plenty of space for people to hang out together in the main cottage and nice to have two separate sleeping areas. Kitchen has all the dishware, pots/pans you need to prepare meals. Great place!

Keene is located in the heart of the High Peaks region. Trailheads for hiking are aplenty and close by. Lake Placid and Whiteface Mountain are both just 15 minutes up the road. The Noonmark Diner is a quick drive down the road. Make a right onto RT 9 (turns into RT 73 shortly after) and keep going. It will be on the left. Open 6AM - 10 PM, 7 days a week Delicious diner food, pies, and ice cream. Cedar Run Bakery and Market is just down the street. Make a left and head over the bridge. It’ll be on the left. Open 8AM - 7PM Mon-Sat & 12PM - 7PM Sundays They sell bread, baked goods, coffee, refrigerated goods, and a plethora of all-natural household/bathroom essentials. Also sells wine and liquors. Stewarts gas station it down the road to the right. It is walkable, and has quick grab-n-go, ice cream, and coffee, as well as basic staples. Also serves beer. Open Mon - Sun 5AM - 11PM *PERFECT FOR LATE ARRIVALS* ADK Market Cafe is a quick walk. Just make a left and it’s down the block! Open Mon-Sun 7AM - 7PM Baked goods, all homemade food, coffee, and a small market. East Branch Organics is behind Stewarts down the road. They stock a variety of craft beers, wine, and liquor. Also plants! For awesome fine dining Thursday through Sunday, check out the Essex Inn in Essex, NY. They are super close to Lake Champlain and down the road from the Vermont Ferry to Charlotte. (Disclaimer: the chef is the co-host’s husband, which is probably why she knows just how awesome his food is!) Supermarkets: There is an Aldi in Saranac Lake and both Hannaford and Price Chopper in Lake Placid. All three are wonderful! Aldi is exceptional for its low prices and basic groceries. If you’re going for something super exotic (think wild mushrooms or a special cut of meat), you most likely won’t find it there. Aldi Mon-Sun 9AM - 8PM Hannaford Mon-Sun 7AM-10PM Price Chopper open 24 hours *PERFECT FOR LATE ARRIVALS* Hiking Advice: If you plan to rely on your cell phone (or other GPS), be certain the device is fully charged, take extra batteries, and turn it off when it is not in use. A number of recent rescues have been due to lost hikers that run out of power for GPS units. The best solution is to carry a map and a compass for backup and always take a flashlight to avoid using your GPS device for light. Be prepared for the weather to change! PLEASE respect wildlife and wild food. Guided adventures offer a different way to explore and learn about the area. There are several groups you can contact: Cloudsplitter Mountain Guides in Keene Valley Rock and River in Keene Adirondack Mountain Guides in Keene Alpine Adventures in Keene High Peaks Mountain Guides has very broad all-season offerings and is based in Lake Placid. During peak summer weekends, please be aware of street parking rules and avoid the residential streets in the hamlet. Cyclists: We love you! But please remember that some of these roads have high speed limits, making it dangerous for cars to have to suddenly dodge a cyclist in the road. Stick to the shoulders and keep everyone safe. Lincoln Pond is a great spot with few people and has a very nice sandy beach. It is a NY State campgound about 20 minutes away. Go through Elizabethtown and just at the eastern edge of Elizabethtown, there is a fork in the road – the right goes to Lincoln Pond. Please respect private land. Landowners are liable for swimming accidents, even when the land is posted. Owners of stream frontage own the bottom of the stream to the middle of the main water course, where they border the owner on the other side.
  • This place was exactly as it is pictured ! Cozy little loft with everything you might need. The hosts are very quick to respond and offer recommendations (old mountain coffee shop for sure). Definitely will stay again if we go back out that way!!

  • The cutest little cabin! We enjoyed our stay so much and appreciated everything the cabin had to offer, including the individual thermometers per room (there were 4 of us who stayed - my boyfriend and I prefer the cold, and our friends prefer to be warmer), the fire-pit outside, the balcony space outside the bedrooms, and so much more. We will definitely be back again!

The perfect getaway: cozy, away from it all, yet close to it all. Sunny, with beautiful views of Cascade and Mt. Van Hoevenberg, and a warm wooden interior. 10 minutes to Lake Placid, ski-in ski-out to Mt. Van Ho's x country ski trails (or trail run/mountain bike), minutes from High Peaks hiking, 20-minutes to Whiteface. Quiet, private, and romantic - Internet, basic TV, fully-equipped kitchen, and washer/dryer included. Hosts take care of you yet respect your privacy.
Our cozy apartment sleeps two but can also accommodate a family with young children or three adults with the use of a blow up air mattress. It has a washer and dryer, in-floor heating, Wifi, TV, and small but fully-equipped kitchen (including toaster, blender, microwave, cookie sheets, pots and pans). It is directly across the street from mountain biking, running trails, and cross-country skiing, down the street from wonderful hiking and biking (Adk Loj, Cascade, Pitchoff, Craigwood mtn bike trails), and a 10 min scenic drive into Lake Placid and Keene. Downhill skiing is 20 min. away. It is an outdoor enthusiast's paradise. We live on Cascade Road, which is also called Route 73. It is a busy road. We are set back 200 ft. from the road, but if you are very sensitive to noise, the cars/trucks passing by could bother you. We live in the main house on the property, and the guest apartment will be all yours while you visit. Please note we do use the garage directly below the apartment, and we often leave early in the morning (7-7:15 am). The garage door opening does make a noise that can be heard from the apartment. You should park outside in front of the main house by the cairns on the stone wall. We can help you find your way onto trails or into town, or if you prefer to do it on your own, we will respect your privacy. We will work to make your stay as comfortable as possible. A two-sided sheet on our notice board will guide you towards our favorite restaurants and places to visit in the area. A hiking map can be found in the apartment, as well as other flyers about surrounding activities. However, if you plan to hike some high peaks, please come prepared with map, compass, guidebook, and good gear. Our mountains are steep and weather can change rapidly. We accept very well-trained and mellow dogs. You may NOT instant book if you have a dog - please contact me directly to make sure it's a good fit. Please do not throw poop into our trash can. Pick it up and throw it into the woods. We charge a $30 pet cleaning fee unless you choose to do it yourself and leave the place exactly as you found it. This mainly entails vacuuming the apartment and sweeping the stairs coming up. Pets are not allowed on the furniture. However, if hair did get onto the couch or bed linens, we would expect that you would wash the linens with the washer and dryer or vacuum the couch. An air mattress and pack-n-play are provided. If you use the bedding for the air mattress, for more than 2 guests, then there is a $20 charge, unless you wash/dry the sheets and put them back in the storage bag. You are welcome to bring sleeping bags if you prefer to use those. Extra pillows and blankets are provided free of charge. Whether here to relax indoors with a book or to explore the Adirondacks, we think you will love staying at Cascade Getaway. Check in is after 3 pm, but we can normally accommodate earlier if need be. Check out is 11 am, although again, we can normally do later if given advanced notice.
We don't really live in a neighborhood - there are trails and a few houses around us. This is a new listing as of February 7, 2015.
  • Melanie was extremely amenable, communicative, and helpful. The Cascade Getaway is exactly what it sounds like... a cozy retreat in the beauty of the Adirondacks with anything you could need for a stay of any length of time. The location is optimal for anything you could want to do in the Northern Adirondack region. We would definitely stay again.

    Jonathan2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Great as usual. Melanie is a super host and very accommodating and easy to communicate with. Our favorite AirBnb property. 🇺🇸

    George2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • For those looking to take advantage of everything the Lake Placid area has to offer, Cascade Getaway delivers in spades! The epic Mount van Hoevenberg XC ski trails are accessed immediately across the street and you can ski all the way to the Cascade Lodge for a cozy lunch by the fire. The restaurants and grocery shopping in Lake Placid proper are just 10 min away. The space itself is perfect both for a shorter or longer vacation with a fully equipped kitchen and washer and dryer. It's bright, cozy and quiet. Melanie is a gracious host and a font of valuable information about the area. We'll definitely be back!

    Marika2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • This place was a terrific find for us! It is right across the road from access to Mt. Van Hoevenberg trails. The unit is clean, warm, and cozy and has all of the conveniences you would need like washer dryer, full kitchen, and tons of storage. Melanie and David were super friendly and accommodating. We skied and snowshoed with our Corgi who loved the unit and chances to romp outdoors. There are lots of options for winter activities, and Lake Placid is just down the road. We decided to cook in with delicious pre-made meals from a bakery in the next town over. That way we could maximize our time outside, save money, and limit cooking. All round it was a memorable vacation and the setting made it just right. We will be back!

  • Exactly as advertised! We wanted a simple, comfortable DIY kind of place as a hub from which to explore the area (first time visitors from SW Ontario), with a focus on downhill and cross country skiing, and this was the perfect location. We normally actively exercise daily, so the ability to exploit world-class XC facilities by walking across the street was phenomenal ( on days not spent on Whiteface’s exceptional downhill trails, about 25 minutes away). Traffic noise was a non-issue- the apartments location provides the serenity and calm of a dense alpine forest, nice to come home to after an active day. The village is a short drive away, easy to access for exploring or pub grub etc. Lots of essential kitchen tools and condiments for eating-in. Wifi is available, although for those who require a high degree of reliable connection, the strength of signal can be patchy. Streaming services are usually there, but for those who expect “live TV”, the system is difficult to navigate and somewhat limited. But this really wasn’t an issue for us- we loved our home away from home!

  • My family had a quick getaway and this weekend and this little place was the perfect place to spend our weekend. Highly recommend!

  • We had a really good time staying here and interacting with the hosts. We especially enjoyed the cozy cabin-feel and the location - it's very close to cross-country skiing and snowshoeing trails, and a nearby pond which was frozen over in January, all of which we could access on foot. Hosts were friendly and responsive.

  • Normally camp at Heart Lake to hike in the summer so this was our first time heading to the high peaks for winter and it was such a pleasure to have such a cozy place to call home for the days! We rested, warmed up, and cooked here in the evenings and truly relaxed after our days spent hiking. Location location location is prime to all the high peaks access points/trailheads plus only a quick minute to pop to Lake Placid for dinner that we opted for... plus a cute friendly dog to greet us was an added bonus!

The River Cabin is a simple but beautiful original log home that has a gorgeous view of Schroon River and Schroon Falls. It is privately located on a quiet lot but also only 200 feet off of Route 9. This cabin was built in 1977, by our family. It has access to a private swimming hole where you can kayak, swim, fish or just hang out. This cabin has a full kitchen, living room with propane fire place, 3 bedrooms and 1.5 baths. The basement has a unique game room with poker table and bar.
The River Cabin was built by my grandfather and provides a "Adirondack feel" due to its authentic logs and design. You will enjoy the private location that the River Cabin offers, but also like that it is only 5 miles from the Village of Schroon Lake. Gore Mountain is only 40 minutes away and Whiteface Mountain is 50 minutes away; it's a great place to stay for ski season!! Guests can enjoy an outdoor fire pit, fire wood is provided for our guests at no extra change. The fire pit is not available during the winter months, as it is covered in snow.
The River Cabin sits on 2.3 acres and over looks Schroon River and Schroon Falls. The driveway along the river is shared by my brother, the River Cabin, and a small camp in the woods. My brother lives next door, and you will occasionally see him and his family drive by, during the summer months. The River Cabin is unique in the fact that it is extremely private, yet only minutes to I-87 and approximately 100 yards off of route 9. The property is quiet, however there is some minimal road noise. The is a great location because it is conveniently close to route 9 and I-87, but please be aware that because of this you will hear some minimal road noise when you are outside. The cabin has views of the river throughout. The River Cabin is also close to town (approximately 5 miles). Schroon Lake has a beautiful town beach, tennis courts and basketball courts as well as a golf course. There are some great restaurants in town as well. Gore Mountain Ski Area is approximately 40 minutes away and Lake Placid (Whiteface Mountain) is approximately 50 minutes away. The historical towns of Lake George (40 minutes) and Ticonderoga (20 minutes) are close and great to visit. * Keene Valley, home of the Adirondack High Peaks, is approximately 20 minutes from the cabin. If you are a hiker, the location of the River Cabin makes access to the high peak trails very convenient.
  • Bonnie's place exceeded our expectations. It was clean and had everything we needed, making our trip near-perfect!

  • Wonderful place! Bonnie's cabin is really charming in a vintage authentic style. The river is splendid with a nice walk across the road. The house is perfectly clean and the kitchen is well equipped (no spices/sauce or other basics so bring all you need to cook). Communication with Bonnie was really easy. For people with young children, just note that the 3 bedrooms are at 3 different levels, and the twin beds are in the basement.

  • The cabin was splendid! It was a clean, authentic ADK cabin; appropriately rustic with scenic views and all of the creature comforts of home.

  • The house was amazing in every way. Such a perfect setting and if You are looking for a true Adirondack cabin I can’t think of how anything could possibly be better.

  • A lovely log cabin great for kids (who might like sledding right outside the backdoor in winter), and well situated for exploring all the Adirondacks have to offer.

  • I took my boyfriend here as a Valentine’s Day gift- he’s very outdoorsy, and me... not so much. I was definitely prepared to feel out of my element, but both Bonnie and the cabin were warm and inviting. This is a perfect place to relax and spend quality time with those you love. Everything was clean, tidy, and cozy (no easy feat, considering it was -11 degrees outside!). Bonnie showed us around, told us everything we needed to know, and provided everything we needed. We spent most of the weekend in, and never felt cooped up or bored. I would definitely recommend!
