“Oldest Tap Room in AMERICA! You will find a popcorn machine, a few tables, a pot belly stove, and a fireplace, as well as a heavy oak bar, and PLENTY of locals. On any given night music is acoustic or shanties, Piano or Jazz, even a barbershop quartet!”

“At the mouth of the Connecticut River, Essex is a lovely New England town. The Griswold Inn is a historic building and a great place to stop and enjoy a meal and take in the history. There is a nautical museum on the water, and there are also boat rides, kayak rentals, and other water activities. It's my favorite small town in CT, and a great place to walk around in autumn. The residents do a great job decorating for Halloween. ”
