Just booked in Fife

Dairsie Castle is a unique self-catered property which sleeps 14. Located close to St. Andrews (15 minutes drive) and Edinburgh (1 hour drive), it is an ideal setting for a holiday to explore the heart of Scotland.
First sited in the 12th Century, Dairsie has been the location of secret Scottish parliaments, military sieges, and safe haven for escapee monarchs (James VI and I in 1583). The castle became a ruin in the 19th Century. In 1992 it was bought and rebuilt by the current owner who worked hard to restore the castle to its original medieval character, with all the comforts of a modern family home. The Castle ‘The Dungeon' - On the ground floor there is a twin bedroom with a vaulted ceiling and ensuite bathroom. 'The Family Bedroom' - This huge master bedroom has 3 four-poster beds; 1 king-size, 2 large singles. The en-suite bathroom is complete with a stand-alone bath and window shutters, painted in the style of Hokusai. ‘The Spottiswoode (Upper Tower Room)’ - Named after one of the long-term residents of the castle, John Spottiswoode, the Archbishop of St. Andrews in the 1600s. This bedroom has a double bed and an ensuite bathroom. ‘The Learmonth (Lower Tower Room)’ - Named after the family that owned Dairsie for a 100 years, before they sold it to Archbishop Spottiswoode in 1616. This bedroom has a double bed and an ensuite bathroom. ‘The South Caphouse’ - A twin bedroom on the top floor at the end of the Gallery. It has a shared shower room with the North Caphouse bedroom, with a small compact shower unit. ‘The North Caphouse’ - This double bedroom is at the opposite end of the Gallery, at the top of the spiral staircase. It has a shared shower room with the South Caphouse Bedroom, with a small compact shower unit. The Great Hall – As the hub of the castle, with a dining table which can seat 12, and is surrounded by beautiful artworks and sculptures. There are two large sofas and a foot stool around the fire place for post-dinner relaxation. A Minstrel’s Gallery which over-looks the Great Hall which can be reached from a staircase behind the room. The Kitchen – The kitchen has all the usual culinary equipment and has a 2-hub Aga cooker. The room has a table and chairs and is large enough also to be used as a breakfast room. Behind the kitchen is a laundry room with a washing machine and dryer, and adjacent to the kitchen is a washroom. The Living Room – The living room is on the 2nd floor, situated next to the Family Bedroom. It is carpeted and has a TV and comfortable sofas. Next door to the living room is a small Toy Room which is filled with children’s books, toys and some board games for the evenings. The Gallery – The Gallery is a spacious area on the top floor of the castle and is where a lot of the castle’s artwork and antiques are displayed. It is a very bright and large space with good views of the surrounding countryside. Dairsie has 6 acres of grounds including a cop with a woodland walk down to the river Eden, a walled herb garden, an orchard and a large open grass area. There is an open garage, a watch tower and a large drive which can park a maximum of 15 cars. The castle's caretaker lives next door. It is a truly unique property seeped in Scottish history, and one which we welcome you to experience and enjoy!
There is so much to see and do in the local area! For golf enthusiasts, the famous Old Course in St. Andrews and Kingsbarns are both close by, whilst Carnoustie and Gleneagles courses are less than an hour away. For family fun, there is Craigtoun Country Park (Nature & Adventure Play Park), The Deer Centre, the Secret Bunker, and Deep Sea World. You can spend a day exploring St. Andrews, where you can find the old Cathedral and castle, go on a distillery and tasting tour at the Eden Mill, and walk along the West Sands beach. For some history, Scone Palace in Perth, and Glamis Palace near Forfar are a drive away. You could also spend a day exploring Edinburgh and all it has to offer. The Michelin-starred Peat Inn is also worth booking for a delicious meal.
  • This Castle is an absolute must, if you are planning to stay in Fife. The facilities are excellent for large groups. The friendly host, Etsuko, was there to meet us at arrival and showed us around the castle and told os the amazing story of its restoration from ruin to its present state. Everything is tastefully decoratet and furnished in the style og the castle. Its location just 6 miles west from St. Andrews makes it a perfect place to stay for parties playing golf. Sitting around the fireplace in the evening exchanging stories over a glass of whisky in the large dining roomm had a genuine scottish air to it. In brief, this place is unlike any place you will ever stay.

  • Perfection! What more can I say! Dairsie Castle was amazing from check-in to departure! A slice of heaven minutes from St. Andrews! There were 9 of us traveling through Scotland and this was by far and away the best accommodation of our vacation! Etusko was lovely and exceptionally amenable! The Castle was above and beyond what we were expecting! Exquisite grounds! Definitely WILL return!

  • The castle was built from ruins by the landlord who raised her family there, it's a project of pure love. Absolutely unique and one of a kind experience. Great for family gathering or large parties. Would recommend it to anyone.

  • Our 5 nights at Dairsie were magical!! We made lifelong memories in this fantastic castle! Every inch of this property has been restored with great love. The children played football on the beautiful grounds, explored the garden and creek, danced in the art gallery, played hide n seek among the many spiral staircases, and slept in the watch tower. The adults adored the Great Hall and the cozy fire, cooked amazing meals in the well appointed kitchen, played lots of board games, and drank lots of wine! The castle is in a great location and we spent time exploring St. Andrews, the Deer Centre, the Aquarium, and several seaside villages on the Kingdom of Fife coastal driving tour. Very clean and comfy beds...just bring some slippers for the cold (URL HIDDEN) is a castle after all! Etusko is responsive and helpful. An INCREDIBLE value, especially in low season.

  • Great location but if you're looking for a lively weekend this location probably isn't for you. Very unique experience and worth the money.

  • Wonderfully charming castle experience! We had a blast. Etsuko was extremely helpful in helping us to plan our casual from afar - she recommended vendors and answered all of our questions right away.

  • The castle was lovely and stylish, rooms are cosy and really comfortable. There was a balcony on the top, which brings great views of surrounding.

  • Christina is a lovely and extremely helpful host. Nothing was a bother for her. The Keep was perfect for our needs It was spotlessly clean and the extras were amazing.

    Jennifer2017-10-29T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely little retreat in a St. Andrews suburb. Quiet as well as clean, and Christina is a very hospitable host. Recommend! :)

    Florian2017-10-25T00:00:00Z
  • Good place, although there is no WiFi or any reception. Wasn’t happy that I got accused of taking a towel, but other than that was ok for a night visiting my niece at university.

    Nadia 2017-10-24T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely host, tidy, clean and comfortable bedroom/bathroom, however keep in mind this would not be the place to stay for work trips given the lack of WIFI access or cell signal within the keep. Quiet neighborhood. Would have been a good stay for a golf trip and would recommend for those visiting for this purpose but considering I was on business and had to commute 30 minutes daily to city center by foot, (or take a short cab ride), not ideal for myself.

    Luke2017-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • Christina's place was quiet, clean and cosy as advertised. Me and my husband spent 2 nights there to relax from the hustle and bustle and did just that. We enjoyed the break without wifi, watched tv and had a nice quiet time at the place. Would recommend to couples who are looking for a quiet place to stay

    Liyana2017-11-05T00:00:00Z
  • Christina has a beautiful cosy outhouse in a quiet neighborhood. It's walking distance from st. Andrew's University as well as a slightly longer walk to the town centre. The pantry was so well stocked, the rooms and bathroom were impeccably clean. It offers connectedness to the main house as well as privacy. Christina was a lovely host.

Clatto Bothy is a recently refurbished, fully furnished semi-detached cottage less than five miles from St Andrews. The self catering accommodation consists of a spacious open plan kitchen and dining area and a large living space. There is one double bedroom and a large shower room. The cottage sleeps two and offers peaceful surroundings within easy reach of St Andrews. The kitchen is fully equipped including washing machine and dishwasher. The Bothy has its own private parking area.
  • Clatto Bothy is a lovely little cottage in a delightfully rural location only a few minutes drive from St Andrews. The cottage was very well appointed with everything needed for an enjoyable stay. The owners, Fiona and Trevor, were very friendly and helpful.

    Richard2017-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely, peaceful place to stay. It had everything we needed and was beautifully clean and comfortable.

    Margaret2017-07-27T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely cottage, will definitely be back. Perfect location only 4 miles outside St Andrews.

    Jim2017-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • Clatto Bothy was absolutely perfect! A really beautiful place inside and out, very comfortable and relaxing. Close to St Andrews and easy to drive around the East Neuk. Lovely views, and you can watch the hens in the garden from the windows :D. Fiona got back to me very quickly when messaged before my stay and directions to the Bothy were easy to follow. Fiona was very friendly and approachable, she was available if I needed anything but also I felt that the space was very much mine as it's tucked away at the corner of the cobbled courtyard so feels very private too.

    Kharis2017-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • Superb, well secluded and private. Place to completely recharge the batteries and close enough to St Andrews for eating out etc.

    Ian2017-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • Clatto Bothy provided the perfect location for a relaxing getaway. Nestled in Blebo Craigs, just five minutes from St Andrews, the cottage was bright and welcoming. A peaceful setting, it provided views out to Fife’s beautiful countryside. Inside, the living room and open plan kitchen space made dining a sociable experience while the bathroom included a tremendous walk-in shower. Owner Fiona ensured the cottage was comfortable and homely, containing all the elements necessary to make it the perfect home from home. She was a mere walk across the courtyard away if there had been an issue - which there most certainly wasn’t. Clatto Bothy was clean, well-equipped and perfectly situated to allow us to explore St Andrews and neighbouring towns and villages. We would recommend it to anyone.

    Mark2017-07-14T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you so much for a wonderful break. We loved Clatto Bothy and felt very much 'at home' from the moment we arrived. The log fire was wonderful and the bothy was very clean and comfortable. It was really easy to visit lots of places nearly and thanks for making our stay so welcoming! Photos don't do it justice, a wonderful place and actually bigger than we thought it would be from the pics. Thanks Fiona and Trevor, we will be recommending to friends and family and would love to return ourselves again! Pete and Vicky

Dempster Lodge is a sizeable, quiet space set apart within the centre of St. Andrews. Steps away are the town’s institutions: the University of St. Andrews and the Old Course. Walk the Lade Braes lane into the heart of ancient St. Andrews, or cycle past the park to the beautiful Botanic Garden. Setting out from the front of Dempster Lodge, ten minutes’ walk east along the waters of the Kinness Burn brings you to historic St. Andrews Pier at the mouth of the North Sea.
The Lodge itself is tranquil and spacious. Oak furnishings complement open, naturally-lit spaces. Amenities include step-free handicapped access with ground-floor bed and bathroom, front entrance providing convenient storage for golf equipment and outerwear, and fully-equipped kitchen with breakfast nook and custom cabinetry. The upstairs offers four bedrooms, (two en-suite), generous closet space, and the master features walk-in closets on either side, with window desk space at one end and master bath at the other.
Dempster Lodge is situated in the quiet neighbourhood immediately adjacent to historic St. Andrews. Just up the stairs behind the lodge, walk along tree-lined Queen’s Terrace to the long walk through to St. Mary’s Quad, and emerge onto South Street. Together with North Street, it borders Market Street, St. Andrew’s thoroughfare. In and amongst these roads are the authentic pubs, restaurants, wee cafes, fresh fishmongers, and old booksellers of St. Andrews. The University is concentrated in the northeast part of town. Along the sea, the Scores pass historic St. Andrews Castle and St. Andrews Cathedral.
  • A nice and clean house with everything you need for a larger crowd. Kitchen very well equipped and Bathrooms were good and clean. Beds were a bit hard but I suppose that can be individual taste. Igor was a great host.

    Anna2017-06-25T00:00:00Z
  • Had an absolutely lovely stay. We were going to stay in a hotel but thought differently the night before of staying in the same room as our 18 month year old. This beautiful house was stunning and very reasonable. So close to the town centre - just a 3 min walk from the shops/ bars/ restaurants.

    Rob2016-11-05T00:00:00Z
  • Great place in Saint Andrews perfect for 8-10 people and walking distance for everything there. Igor was very kind and the house was in great condition! Easy choice!!!

    Jose2015-09-06T00:00:00Z
  • First and foremost I must say that Igor was the most gracious, accommodating, thoughtful, and prompt host that one could ask for. We were there as a family of four and my mother visiting our son who attends university there for American Thanksgiving. We booked a house much larger than we needed to make sure we could host ten or Thanksgiving dinner. Igor was thoughtful enough not only to buy table linens, he purchased new wine glasses, flatware and even a roasting pan, complete with rack, baster and thermometer. So Kind! (the pan didn’t actually fit in the oven, but tis the thought that counts!) When we arrived the house was freezing cold; it appeared not to have been occupied for weeks, and the heat was out. My family sat in the kitchen while Igor tried to figure it out, then asked my husband to drive him to “top off” the gas card necessary to heat the house. We waited with coats and scarfs on in the kitchen for their return, upon which the heat still didn’t work. And the second trip for my husband to drive Igor to buy a new card proved a waste as that didn’t work either. Finally he called for someone to service the furnace, and brought out space heaters for the kitchen. At this point, it was night and the heat still didn’t work. We left for dinner, still chilled to the bone and returned to the house without heat. We moved the space heaters into the bedrooms for the night, then back into the kitchen the next day. As you can imagine this was terribly inconvenient. The second day, thankfully, the gas company was able to resolve the problem. Igor was as helpful as could be, but the fact is we spent a lot of money for a home without heat for the 24 out of 48 hours we were there. As for the house itself, it was much more like dorm living. The carpets were old and dirty and puffing up in places, and in general the house was a bit “worn out”. The linens, towels, glassware, etc. seemed to be a mismatched hodge-podge of older incomplete sets. And the oven pans that were there were quite dirty. In summary- the house’s layout was adequate space for our needs, and Igor was well-meaning and did try his best given the circumstances. And we enjoyed our Thanksgiving dinner. But overall, the house is way too costly for “student housing” without heat.

    Jennifer2015-11-27T00:00:00Z
  • The house is in really central position, although in a very quiet residential pocket. Highly recommend as a well equipped house with plenty of space for larger groups.

    Emily2017-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • A wonderful place to explore St. Andrews from, the house is situated on less than 10 minutes’ walk from the beach and the city centre. On the way there, one comes across charming little cafes, local diners and antique shops. Moreover, there is a picturesque river pathway right beside the door which leads to the St. Andrews Walking Tour golf course. The house is very well maintained and decorated. Also, the bed in the en-suite bedroom was very comfortable. The bathroom is absolutely superb, with a large bathtub and a separate shower cabin. The kitchen is big and very well-equipped – basically, there’s everything I needed and more. There is a parking space right in front of the house. A very clean and luxurious place – I highly recommend it!

    Vessela2016-11-04T00:00:00Z
  • Great house, terrific location - perfect place to stay in St. Andrews.

    Dana2016-12-03T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time in St Andrews and as a group of 12, we couldn't have asked for more convenient accommodations. Igor was easy to communicate with ahead of arrival, and once there he gave us suggestions as to things to do and see, and stocked our fridge with snacks and fresh fruit. The house is no-frills but it's really close to the center of town and perfect for a bigger group.

  • The house was excellent, beautiful and very comfortable. Is a big house, perfect for a family with kids. The town is very quiet and close to the forest. You can think it's in the middle of nowhere, but it's not true; it only takes a 15' drive to St. Andrews and 10' drive to the coast, where there are the most beautiful fisher towns and the best fish'n'chips!. Rona and John are very kind and helpfull. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!.

    Xavier2017-08-06T00:00:00Z
  • Rona is a lovely, warm and welcoming host. The property is clean and comfortable, and while needing a little fixing up here and there, is absolutely fine for a short stay.

  • Lovely stay at John and Rona's. The property was charming and comfortable. We enjoyed spectacular views on our walk around the village and our dogs and kids made excellent use of the fenced garden. We had everything we needed for cooking and the fresh eggs and scones were a thoughtful touch. Thanks so much for your hospitality!

  • We had a lovely stay at Rona's unique Wooden Cody lodge with lovely views and a nice relaxed feel to it. Rona and her husband were really friendly and so helpful and it was a pleasure to chat to them. Homemade scones were delicious!

Newly renovated two bedroom apartment within 5 minute walk of St Andrews town centre. Close to the famous golf courses and the beautiful East Sands and West Sands beaches - all within walking distance. The Kinnesburn river is also within a one minute walk which joins with the beautiful Lade Braes footpath. The property has two parking spaces and a private enclosed garden. Suitable for families.
  • Neils place is just perfect for a visit to St. Andrews. The house itself is cheeful, bright and spotless with all the essentials provided. A lovely touch was the umbrellas as we had one rainy day. Locationwise it really couldnt be better, just a lovely 5 minute walk to the centre but far enough away for peace and relaxation. Having the back garden with the table was a real bonus as we had spectacular weather.

  • Spotlessly clean, beautifully furnished accomodation in the heart of St Andrews. We had everything on our doorstep whilst here and simply parked the car and only returned when our holiday ended as we could walk everywhere from the flat. Marvelous historic sites and restaurants all just a stroll away and the scenery was stunning. What a wonderfully restful break. We will be returning again and again to further explore but only if we can book Liz's flat again as the accomodation was superb!

    Gillian2017-10-16T00:00:00Z
  • This place is really amazing, and you can't beat the location. I stayed with a friend for a long weekend of golf and it was perfect. The apartment was very clean and comfortable and more than enough space for 4 people. Liz was great, she provided all the information you need and was easily contacted if you had any specific questions. 10/10, will definitely come back. Thanks Liz!

My apartment is overlooking the sea, the famous West Sands beach (5mins), and the Royal & Ancient Club House (3 mins). .The close proximity to the Old Course, the beach and main town centre of St Andrews means that everything is a short walk away. My place is good for couples or golfers.or for parents visiting students at university.
  • Wonderful apartment, high quality, centrally placed in St Andrew close to the Old Course. For Golfers this is the place to stay. Nice and friendly host.

  • Absolutely Awesome. Incredible. A must stay if you are considering staying close to the Courses at St. Andrews and want everything within walking distance. A pitching wedge away from the 18th Green of the old course, I have to say that our family stay was way above expectations and as a family of hoteliers, we were between booking a hotel or trying this flat as we were unsure of what to expect - we were blown away with The Flat - it was absolutely amazing, beautiful decor, the phot's simply don't do it justice, the views as you open up the doors onto the balcony were amazing (we were even lucky to have sunshine for 5 days!!) perfect for the 3 of us, everything within walking distance and Fiona and Sarah were outstanding, right up to the moment we turned the key to open the door to be given recommendations of where to go. We are 100% coming back to St. Andrews and we are 200% going to ensure we plan our stay around the availability of this fantastic flat again. Simply cannot thank You enough Fiona. We look forward to staying again !

    Marc2016-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • Incredible location. The apartment has a beautiful view of the beach and is closer to the first tee on the old course than the club house itself. Highly recommended.

    Niall2017-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • Superb flat with excellent views out over the West Sands. Very convenient for all town amenities and about 30 seconds from the R&A for the golfers. Flat had everything required and standard of decor was excellent. For context last Feb we stayed at the Old Course Hotel. It was being refurbished this Feb, so this was our first experience of Airbnb. At the end of the stay I asked the family if they would rather come back to this flat or go to the Old Course Hotel next Feb. A very definite preference for the flat over the Old Course Hotel. Need I say more! Many thanks Fiona for an excellent trip.

  • Had a great time in St. Andrews staying at Nico's house. It's close to town but also a very quiet place to stay. St. Andrews is a lovely place to visit even if you don't play golf..!! Nico has been very welcoming and even though my flight was delayed and I didn't arrive until almost 2am this was no problem. I'd recommended a stay here.

    Paul2017-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • Jiwon was a friendly and accommodating host. The accommodation is cheap and comfortable & I would happily stay there again.

    Marie2017-05-01T00:00:00Z
  • Nico is mostly out due to work but has a good system for checking in anytime. The location is a bit out of town but a convenient walk to the beach. It was great to have a room to myself after a stint in youth hostels. The bed was comfortable, and a towel was provided. WiFi password was provided without having to ask.

  • Overall, I had an excellent stay. I needed a place to stay for a few nights after my lease for my housing ran out but I was still finishing up my masters. The accomdation was quiet, clean, and not too far from town. Nicolas was a great host and very friendly. Definitely would recommend!

The cottage is ideally situated in Lucklawhill, between St Andrews and Dundee, approximately 7 miles from each. The front of the house offering stunning panoramic views over the Firth of Tay and St Andrews Bay; the other side providing access to quiet woodland and country walks. Full spacious property available comprising two large double bedrooms, modern open lounge area, dining room, well furnished kitchen, shower room and WC. Two further beds available in loft conversion if required.
North East Fife offers a great variety of pursuits for holiday makers and visitors. For golfers worldwide, St Andrews is the Home of Golf – a place they must visit at some time in their life. However, the seven public courses of St Andrews represent only a few of the many excellent courses to be found within a short ‘drive’. Apart from golf, the ancient town of St Andrews is steeped in history, having the oldest university in Scotland, and its large medieval cathedral dating back to the 12th century. For others, the attraction is in the miles of unspoilt beaches, woodlands and peaceful countryside , where they can fish, hike, cycle or generally just explore, freely and uninterrupted. New Lulgate is ideally situated near the top of Lucklawhill, between St Andrews and Dundee, approximately 7 miles from each. The front of the house offering stunning panoramic views over the Firth of Tay and St Andrews Bay; the other side providing access to quiet woodland and country walks. Although attached to the main property, the cottage sits in its own private and spacious gardens. It is completely self-contained and comfortably furnished, with all the necessities required for a self-catering holiday. Accommodation consists of 2 large double bedrooms – each with two single beds. Each room has built in wardrobes and plenty of storage space. If really required there are two further single beds in an upstairs loft conversion - via a Ramsey ladder for the more agile! There is a large open lounge area with gas fireplace, opening out to the conservatory with its superb views. The kitchen is spacious and well equipped. There is also a separate dining room, and an area has been set out as a possible workplace for those who cannot ‘leave their work at home’. Wifi is accessible. The large shower room is well-fitted with a modern suite comprising double shower cubicle, W.C., sink and bidet, and another W.C. is also available.

  • the house is lovely with the best view you could wish for, my sister loves her camera and was able to take lots of pictures from the house. Gordon and Marion had thought of everything and the house has all the essential basics for cooking and a few that are not so essential but well appreciated .... we had a few days in Manchester before and really enjoyed relaxing, being able to sit outside with the fire pit blazing, wine and good company was just what the body ordered. great place to explore we went from st Andrews to Earls Ferry. there is a lovely beach at Earls ferry and they do water sport well worth looking into if you are staying a few days. stunning house in a stunning location cant praise it enough, we will be going back soon xx

  • Gordon (Marion was away for the weekend) was so amazing, he was so friendly and eager to help us find things to do while we were spending the weekend at their airbnb. He was also super accommodating for us! We were quite content to just hangout right at the house and drink wine while taking in the stunning views of the coast and surrounding farmland! I would highly recommend this place to anyone wishing to get a taste of the beautiful country side of Scotland! We will definitely be planning more trips out to visit again!

    Carisa2017-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • My oh my, a fantastic place, Gordon and Marion are superb hosts, awesome view. Great accuracy in describing the place. The 10days stay we had was just splendid and wish that we could stay longer. It is also at a convenient location and distance for us to commute to St Andrews Uni to visit our son. The view and the tranquility of the place made you want to stay indoor and sit in the sun room all day. Place is very near to Dundee and a good place to be as a base to visit the great lakes of Scotland. Words cannot described how helpful our hosts have been. This is our first trip to Scotland and with the tips and guide from Gordon and Marion, we feel that our 10days stay is fun filled with places to visit and shopped. We were invited to have tea and had awesome banana cake prepared by Marion, yummy. We arrived rather late on the check in day & we noticed cereals/eggs/bread were available in the fridge and in the kitchen for our breakfast the next morning. The place and the hospitality of Gordon and Marion has made our stay memorable and if Allah's will, we will definitely repeat our stay and would probably stay longer, provided they are still sharing their place for others to enjoy. Lovely place and beyond words & beyond expectation ❤️❤️❤️❤️ Regards - Kamil, Zaleha, Saziah & Haziq

  • A wonderful house, ingenuously changed from a church to a lovely and luxurious cottage where you will feel at home immediately - our favourite place was the red settee in the great upper living room with great views over the wonderful landscape. You will find everything you need, and Ken even left breakfast supplies for us. St. Andrews is only about die miles away, and there is Morrison's, when you enter the town. Don't miss the coastal walk! To Come back to the flat: A lovely, cosy kitchen with all required equipments, perfect bathrooms - two of them! -, and very good beds. In short: Enjoy your stay in this marvellous house, owned by a kind and generous landlord.

  • Our first airbnb experience and we weren't disappointed! A warm welcome awaited us and as mentioned in other reviews a plate of goodies swiftly followed. Coming and going as we pleased wasn't a problem, leaving and arrival is flexible. Breakfast was great and set us up for the day, cereals, fruit, juices and a cooked Scottish breakfast with options to have boiled or scrambled eggs instead. The room was clean and spacious with a great shower in the en suite. Located on a working farm we felt it was a great place for basing ourselves for our particular trip to the St Andrews area.

The Beehouse is set in a stunning rural location close to all local amenities but enjoying peace and tranquility
  • We stayed at the Bee House for the week of Christmas and had the most wonderful time. The house was in the perfect setting, secluded in the countryside with a cosy wood burning stove and just a ten minute drive from St. Andrews and even closer to a lovely farm shop. Elizabeth and her family were on site to meet us and were around if we required anything and were all very welcoming. They even put up a beautiful real Christmas tree for us and left us a lovely basket of festive goodies. The house was cosy, warm and very clean. We had such an enjoyable Christmas here and would highly recommend to anyone.

Built by sir Robert Lorimer in the 1890's during restoration of the castle. Situated near St Andrews(GOLF) and on the edge of the village of Leuchars (direct trains to London and Aberdeen). Ideal for walking, golfing, garden visits(world famous garden) and (upon request) shooting or stalking. Leuchars provides a post office, surgery, pharmacy, hairdressers, supermarket and two takeaways
It is a rather unusual house built over the port cullis which is the main entrance to the castle ( 500 years old ) . On the ground floor is the kitchen , dining room , shower room , guest w.c. and back entrance hall . Then a spiral staircase to the sitting room and to the first floor landing with the three bedrooms , steps down to the family bathroom .
The Gate House is part of the Earlshall estate with the castle in its centre and adjacent to the world famous topiary garden .
  • The Gatehouse at Earl's Hall was just what we needed for a short golf break. Easy access to St Andrews with Taxi's being prompt and affordable. Paul, Earl's Hall owner, was very welcoming and added to the experience with a historical tour of main castle.

  • What an amazing experience! The grounds are immaculate, Paul, Nicky & team are the absolute best, from providing clear instructions, warm welcome, to the small details of adding food & drinks for our late arrival. Truly a unique experience, I'd highly recommend.

  • Great place great location wonderful hosts who went out of there way to make sure I was settled in. I will be back next year !

  • We stayed over the Easter weekend and loved this quirky gatehouse stay in front of a 500yr old castle! The surroundings were beautiful, the location was great (with a car) and the place was clean, warm and had all amenities needed for a comfortable stay. We all thoroughly enjoyed for our first stay in Scotland.

  • The gatehouse it's a unique property in a great location for tentsmuir and St. Andrews. The hosts were very welcoming and helpful! Thanks

  • We had an absolutely, jaw-droppingly wonderful time. What a surprize! The Gatehouse is 117 years old and the Castle 500 years . Our accommodation was very spacious and well equipped. With a sense of history and generations gone by. The more than 4 acre grounds quiet, green and immaculately kept. Our hostess Josine welcomed us warmly, made sure we had all we needed and invited us to walk around. As I opened the kitchen door, the sweet smell of 2 vases full of fresh flowers from the garden greeted me. She spoilt us with everything needed for breakfast stocked in the kitchen and fridge. Our host Paul invited us into their home and gave us a tour of the fully restorated Castle, original furniture, gardens and grounds before we left. A truely amazing experience.

    Henk2017-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed staying in the Guesthouse. It was comfortable and had lovely views from the various windows in the house. It was warm and had most things we needed. Just be aware that mobile reception is not always possible, but this did not bother us one bit. The children played out in the gardens and loved exploring the house. Paul was interesting and helpful. We even got a tour of the mansion house. We were visiting family in St Andrews and they had not heard of the house. It is a jewel in the area and we hope to visit again.

    Jeanette2017-04-15T00:00:00Z
  • I had a great time in a truly unique place to stay with lovely hosts. Wonderfully well supplied with everything we needed and great condition. If you want to stay in a piece of living history, with quirky features, and beautiful countryside, this is the place. I was worried there would be noise from the nearby military base, but we didn't hear anything and had a peaceful night's sleep. The decor is "country house" style. The only warning is that there are stairs that you need some agility to get around, so would not recommend for the elderly. Also, you would probably need a car. It would be possible to walk from the train station, but a car is better. But for us, two couples in their forties, it was bliss. You could just get mobile reception by sitting out in the kitchen, and there's no tv, but a quiet getaway was just what we wanted. Staying in such a historic place was perfect for our overseas guests and we couldn't really have asked for better.

The Harvest Room boosts a King Sized Bed and en suite with power shower. It lives up to its name for its stunning views North out over the open fields and to the mountains beyond. This room is on the ground floor with good access.
We believe we have a lovely home hand built by my husband, all rooms and the dinning room is very spacious and the views from our location which is 750 feet above sea level are to die for, come and see for your self.
Tranquil little village, quite relaxing countryside with stunning views over the fields and mountains to the north, you can see 70 miles away on a clear day and it is a 180 degree panorama from the sea - the hills.

  • A lovely house that's full of cute little quirks - ping pong table, mini pool table, little notes for our arrival, and many more. Krister was excellent - lots of communication before and they sent through a house guide which was a lot of help.

En suite had a great shower, plenty of heat and power. Both bedroom and bathroom were clean and tidy. Pam was an excellent host, incredibly friendly, helpful and made us feel more than welcome. Breakfast was plentiful and the fresh fruit was brilliant, served in the conservatory with stunning views over the water. Should you want to explore St Andrews in the evenings, taxi's are readily available and fairly cheap. The cottage itself is homely and well stocked. Very comfy beds and excellent shower. Andy was a great host and left detailed instructions.

  • A very cosy comfortable cottage - it is on a road where cars drive past very quickly but with off street parking this was not an issue for us - lovely back garden a real sun trap - 5 minutes drive into the centre of St Andrews - ideal location to enjoy some peace and quiet when you want to escape the crowds in St Andrews - would definitely recommend - Andy is a great host - great at communicating - hope to return soon!!

  • Andy's cottage is a lovely, quiet spot just outside of St. Andrews. It was an ideal getaway for us, and was a much better value than the lodging in St. Andrews. We loved the garden in the back and the fireplace. St. Andrews is about a 5 minute drive from the cottage, and there is plenty of free parking just outside the city center. A car is essential though, since the cottage is in a rural setting.

  • This is such a cozy, comfortable little place. The description is accurate but it fails to mention what a great host Caroline is. Caroline was easy to communicate with before our arrival andonce we were there, she chatted to us about places to go, where to walk etc. The information pack Caroline and her husband provided was really useful, and the provisions were an added bonus. The accommodation is clean, neat and well thought out. I loved the kitchen area. It's an easy walk into St Andrews (20 mins). St Andrews is a really nice town, lots of nice walks, plenty of history, great places to eat and drink. And the surrounding area is worth exploring especially the coastline from Elie to Kingsbarn. Thanks Caroline for a great stay, hope to be back soon.

This might be a first option when I will be back to St Andrews.

The description is accurate, the location is great, and the room was quite comfortable and spacious. Her "house rules" are more encouragements than rules; she clearly wanted to make sure I was comfortable and knew where things were so I could help myself. Jenny is friendly without being intrusive and was quick to include me in a social drink with a couple of her friends who came by. I got a stomach bug during my trip and she offered for me to stay as long as I needed to. I will definitely stay here again if I can when I'm back in St. Andrews!

  • The apartment was immaculate, full of light, and the beds were made to perfection (I hate loose sheets). It seems to have been newly refurbished, as everything is new and clean. The owner is very accessible and kind, and we greatly appreciated being able to leave our luggage with him when we arrived 6 hours before the previous guest checked out. It's a little bit of a walk into town, roughly 10-12 minutes, but a lovely one that we enjoyed. An excellent stay!

  • Great host who met us prior to check in to drop of our bags. If you have an opportunity to stay at this apartment whilst visiting St Andrews, do it. A perfectly renovated apartment that is so comfortable it felt like home. Such a well equipped kitchen with all the essential utensils including a great coffee maker with pods. We just loved the decor throughout the whole apartment. Great bathroom with a shower with lots of room. I would highly recommend this apartment to anybody who wants to experience some luxury in golf heaven....

  • Loved this apartment in St Andrews and Glen was very pleasant and helpful. A great bonus was we were allowed to drop our bags off and put some things in the fridge well before the official check in. The apartment was spotless and very well equipped. There was a great sun terraced area and because the weather was very good we were able to take advantage of this. Bit of a walk into town but you can just jump on a bus. Because it's in such a nice area it's a lovely walk in to town though. We would definitely stay again and would recommend it to others

  • A lovely apartment tucked away in a beautiful setting. Glenn was the perfect host, friendly and welcoming, and very easy to communicate with. We have visited St Andrews every year for the past 7 years and never stayed in the same place twice. That may just have changed!

  • A really nice apartment located about a 20 min walk or 5 min taxi trip into St Andrews. The apartment has just been redecorated and the furnishings were brand new. Communication with Glenn was spot on and he was very accommodating at our late arrival.

  • Great flat, clean and with all you need. A little bit far from the centre of St Andrews (by foot) but if you have the car there is a private parking just beneath the flat.

My cosy wee place is a 12 minute walk from the centre of St. Andrews and all that this special town has has to offer. Come and enjoy the beautiful beaches, golf courses and Scotland's oldest university.
My home has a bright, open plan, newly decorated kitchen/living room. There is a sunny conservatory next to the living room. The bathroom has a powerful hot shower and the bedroom has a queen size double bed and plenty of drawer and hanging space. My wee house has a good feel to it and if you enjoy books - you are welcome to read anything in my collection! If you are musical, I have a beautiful piano which likes to be played! Feel free to sample my malt whisky collection too.
There are 2 large supermakets only a few minutes walk from my house. From the back of my house, you can walk up the wee hill at the back of the town to see one of the best views in Fife.
  • I got exeactly what I was looking for: a clean house, a place to sleep and work, and a short drive to a number of great golf courses

  • Cosy cottage with all the facilities. Clean and comfortable. A 15 minutes walk into the heart of St Andrews. Hosts were excellent.

  • Spent 4 nights at Lucy's home and found it to be perfect for our needs. It was a very comfortable to stay there. Great location for a nice walk to downtown and golf coarse areas. Loved having shops nearby and being in a quiet neighborhood. Perfect for using the bus and train from Edinburgh. Thx, Lucy & Fiona!

  • Only about 10-15 min walk from town centre. Shops nearby, such as Aldi, Morrisons and M&S.

  • Lucy and Fiona are very friendly. The house is clean and beautiful with quiet neighbourhood. I love the piano and had a good play :) hope to come back soon.

  • A very nice house with everything that you need. Close to town and shops but still a very quiet area. My wife and I were in St. Andrews for our 1st wedding anniversary and while we did not meet Lucy she thoughtfully left us a nice card and bottle of wine to help us celebrate.

    Bryce2017-04-09T00:00:00Z
  • Great spot. Clean, quiet, comfortable. Just a few minute drive into city or a big longer walk.

  • I'd have no hesitations recommending this AirBnB. I've had a few communications with the host and she is extremely helpful. We had no issues staying here and we couldn't have asked for more. We stayed for a wedding for one night and it was clean, comfortable and not too far from anywhere we needed access to. If I needed to stay in St Andrews again I will definitely be requesting to stay here.
