“We haven't been here for a while but our guests seem to like it! It is a fine dining option and Chris the owner/chef enjoys foraging in the local mountains and woodlands for many of the ingredients on his menu. His dishes are adventurous - quite earthy in flavour and often smoked! ”

“The Tasting Room at Le Quartier Francais is South Africa's most lauded fine-dining restaurant. It is the stage to award-winning Chef, Margot Janse, and her unique African Inspired Surprise Tasting Menu. Here, in this intimate setting, serious diners have the opportunity to experience a true journey of taste. With a menu that continues to evolve and astonish The Tasting Room, and its African Inspired cuisine, creates a dining experience unlike any other. One where surprise and nostalgia take centre stage. In The Tasting Room every African Inspired dish is exceptional and engaging. Truly refined with a distinct feminine touch and, at the same time, unexpectedly exciting ... Exhilarating in fact. It is this contradiction that results in The Tasting Room menu's outstanding balance and ensures that the cuisine is nothing short of a theatrical masterpiece. In The Tasting Room the journey extends further than just phenomenal cuisine; it moves fearlessly into the captivating realm of stories and magic. A place where each plate, and its African inspired elements, have the ability to captivate the hearts and minds of diners. The Tasting Room is open Tuesdays to Saturdays for dinner only. 19H00 till late. Please allow at least 3 hours for your dinner.”

“We go here from time to time - but for a visitor its great as it has wonderful views over the valley. The menu is varied (including a snail menu) with a South African twist and is reasonably priced. We would recommend that you go early for sundowners on the outside terrace where you can also eat. Remember that once the sun disappears Franschhoek evenings are generally a little chilly!”

“Cafe des Arts is hidden away in a lovely shady spot just off the main road. It offers breakfast, lunch and dinner with a blackboard menu. The staff are lovely here and it is a nice spot for a good value lunch outside under the trees or for a cozy dinner inside.”

Italian Restaurant

“Italian themed chain restaurant, offering take aways should the evening get all too difficult! ...With artisanal wood-fired pizzas, sumptuous pastas and gourmet salads, it was not long before the Col’Cacchio magic spread far and wide. And now, 25 years later, with restaurants all over the country, the mere mention of Col’Cacchio sends taste buds into a wild. It's more than a menu. It's a celebration.”
