State / Provincial Park
“This is a beautiful place for a short walk by the water, a picnic area or to sit and wait for the whales. Bring a guitar, a game or just a friend and enjoy the view from tables or just sit on the rocks. Bring an extra blanket just Incase it’s windy and it’s a beautiful place to watch the sun set too.”

“The San Juan Islands are an archipelago in the U.S. state of Washington known for rural Pacific Northwest landscapes and wildlife. Horseshoe-shaped Orcas Island, one of the main isles, is home to Moran State Park's old-growth forest and Mt. Constitution. San Juan Island is distinguished by the lively seaside town of Friday Harbor and Lime Kiln Point State Park, an orca-whale lookout.”

“Great pub food menu with some more sophisticated twists. Right off the ferry.”

“This short (approx 1/2 mile trail) leads out to cliffs that overlook tumultuous seas. (Not great for little children as there are no railings and a fall would be disastrous.) You can view sea lions and seals hauled out on the rocks and watch boats fight the current and whirlpools to make passage. Great place to pack a picnic (if you don't mind sitting on the ground) and watch the world go by. One note of caution....on occasion, locals have been known to sunbathe in the nude on the lower rocks. ”

“Hiking trails with spectacular views on the west side. The Orcas Island community and the San Juan Preservation Trust raised $20 million to save this 1700 acre parcel from development. Turtleback Mountain Preserve was created in 2006. We still have our Save Turtleback hat! ”
