Places to stay in Furbogh
Beautifully restored Pre-Famine cottage. Listed on The Financial Times as a tranquil escape from the bustle of modern life. Rural setting surrounded by lacy stone walls, secluded gardens, and still on the outskirts of the cultural city of Galway.
Riding stables across the road and 9 hole golf course and driving range 1/2 mile away
  • One of our favorite spots. Can't beat the ambiance!!! Absolutely stunning!!

  • This is a unique place to stay that you will remember as a highlight of your trip. The host is friendly, quick to respond and goes out of his way to make you comfortable. He even baked a tasty loaf of gluten free bread for me. The cottage itself is exceptionally cozy and charming. Our visit coincided with miserable weather but that just added to the allure of sitting by the fire with a good book. In fact, the only downside of staying here is that you might not want to venture out to sightsee. The cottage is also located outside of town in a beautiful "secret" garden, so you have to drive to restaurants. That was only a small minus given the peaceful setting. The pictures can't possibly capture the quaintness of the place.

  • If this space is available book it. Narrow road there but worth it! Would gladly make the trip again!

  • The cottage is so quaint and pretty. The thatched roof and little stream outside made it picture book gorgeous. Loved the traditional rustic feel inside. Sitting by the open fire on a cold afternoon was a real treat. The bed was comfortable. Getting in to Galway city centre was very easy by taxi. We had a lovely stay. For longer next time!

  • Unique and special space. Authentic Irish cottage filled with good energy, nostalgia, and charm. Very kind and helpful hosts. We loved our time here and will remember it for years to come.

    Kati2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay here, such a beautiful quaint and cozy cottage we almost didn’t want to leave! The homemade bread was delicious and it had everything else we needed :) it was perfect for a romantic getaway, very relaxing and homey. Would definitely recommend anyone stay here although a car would be helpful.

  • Great little spot for a quick stay. My wife and I enjoyed the space as it has everything we needed for our stop. It was stylish, had a nice bed, was cozy, and the shower had so much warm water! Thank you for the suggestions in your book. We took advantage of the close proximity to everything and walked to our restaurants and pubs. I would recommend walking over driving to enjoy the beautiful buildings and sites. Mick was great to communicate with and made everything seamless and ready for our arrival. Thanks much!

This is not just a simple town house. The ZenDen is a penthouse that is situated on top of a three story building. It is tucked away in it's own little paradise and because of it's location the latin Quarter, one of the most vibrant and magical parts of the city.. A unique, self catering location that is sure to impress.
This is a truly unique location. The ZenDen is situated on the top floor of a three storey complex that sits on Galway’s skyline. It also has it’s own roof terrace with seating area which comes to life in the spring and summer months. As for location, it does not get more central. In less than a ten second walk from my door, you will have reached Quay street, the most lively and vibrant area of Galway also known as the latin Quarter. In our opinion this is the most vibrant and magical part of the city and the ZenDen is like a hidden Utopia in the middle of all the hustle and bustle. Your room will have a standard double bed available. All pillows and duvets are filled with duck and down and with very comfortable mattress. The beds are as comfortable as possible so I am sure you will have a beautiful nights rest. We want people to feel like they are in a home away from home, so please do make yourself feel at home.
The house is situated seconds from the most lively and vibrant part of Galway a has a very unique feel. Seconds after leaving the ground entrance door you will be immersed by the lively energy that is Galway. There are a vast array of restaurants on you doorstep, not to mention the pubs. The river walk beside the spanish arch is only down the street also. A short walk down Quay Street brings you to my favourite area the Spanish Arch and the fast flowing waters of the river Corrib. This area is the real heart of this magical city and I am sure on arrival you will agree.

  • This little place is so cute and cozy! It’s perfect for a solo traveler. I was in communication with Martin, who was so friendly and helpful! When I got to the room, the lights and radio were on, making it feel welcoming right off the bat, and I was made aware that there was fresh milk, coffee/tea, and cereal for me as well. Let me tell you, I hiked for a day...and laying my head down to sleep in that bed was dream! Close walking distance to the bus stops, and an easy walk down the hill to the coast! Worth it, recommend it.

Just opposite the building is Mona Lisa Restaurant where you will find Galway’s best Italian food – it’s delicious!! If you go out the door and turn right you will pass a small square known as the ‘Small Crane’ which is where Galway’s potato market was regularly held. You will find there the famous Crane Pub which has traditional Irish music nightly and is known for the mighty craic! Further down the street is Ernie’s Grocery shop which boasts the freshest fruit and veg, Wooza Wood Fired Pizza to satisfy any late night cravings and Kai restaurant which has won numerous awards and has the best Sunday brunch in Galway. Just past Kai is the Jesuit Church where you can pray for any sins you may have committed the night before :-) Also, just around the corner is An Seomra Yoga (The Yoga Room) for anyone who wants to keep up with there fitness or relaxation whilst travelling. When you get to the end of the road, to the left is O’Beirn’s Pharmacy for any forgotten necessities. If you go left from Monroe’s there are more pubs and great restaurants (French, Creole, Irish and Italian) on Dominick Street. If you cross the road and head over Wolf Tone Bridge you will come to the Spanish Arch and the Galway Museum. Past this is Quay Street straight up to Shop Street, Galway’s main thoroughfare filled with pubs, restaurants, shops and has the best nightlife around. Galway’s Tourist Office is located in Eyre Square which is at the top of Shop Street. With markets, butchers, cheese and fish mongers nearby..make yourself a gourmet meal in the fully equipped kitchen! Every Saturday morning there is a fresh produce and crafts market on Market Street (5 mins walk).

  • Great location!

    Elizabeth2020-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • The location is just a short walk from Eyre Square and many pubs! Accommodation was very clean and presentable with everything you need! Cute and cozy spot for two!

    Etta2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Rebecca’s place was so nice, big and newly remodeled! She had everything we needing including a hair dryer, straightener and curling iron!! A real luxury on this trip. Not that the straight hair lasted long 😂. Also a washer/dryer combo. A few things we especially enjoyed about the area: the Galway west end is a lively area with many choices for dining. Crane’s pub is a wonderful local pub where we were treated to live traditional Irish music. We also enjoyed having a yoga studio right around the corner. However, the “family room” is big enough to do yoga. Rebecca has a nice big ROKU smart TV good for watching Netflix and other streaming services. Anyway, we highly recommend this place!

  • STAY HERE! Ray and Ann were so lovely! They greeted us with a cup of tea and some homemade bread that was worth the stay alone! The room was big and very clean, felt just like home. There was a great restaurant a 7min walk away. So much to do and the beautiful ocean right acrossed the street. We will most certainly be back! Also the breakfast was just right and they went above and beyond with the presentation. Ray's homemade jam to go with ann's homemade porridge bread was AMAZING! Cannot say enough good about this place.

  • Our stay in Ray's was perfect for what we needed. We attended a friend's wedding in the nearby Connemara Coast Hotel. A short walk and a safe footpath allowed us to walk home that night. Ray was very welcoming to us and the room was ideal. Would definitely stay again!

  • My room in Ray's lovely home was very comfortable, quiet, and cozy, and I had an unexpectedly exciting time on the coast, on the largest Aran Island Inis Mor, and inland! You can walk to a wonderful pub and restaurant on the water, take the bus into Galway city or up to the craft cottages in the next town, Spiddal, where there's also a fantastic cafe. Ray's hospitality and knowledge of the area made this a special stay for me!

  • The B and B ist very nice, everything is extremely clean, new and made with a lot of effort and love. The bathroom is big and the living room has a nice couch and smaller cooking possibilities. The bedroom is not too small and is quite cute. The house is quite far away from the next bus stop and about 1 hour away from Galway but Spiddal itself is nice to see too. Linda is very nice and welcoming. We really enjoyed our stay there.

    Lara2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • The place was much larger than we expected. Linda was a wonderful host. She thought of the little extras that help make your stay enjoyable.

    Dorothy2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • Linda was an amazing host. The space was clean, well decorated, and had a view of the ocean. It was an absolutely wonderful stay.

  • Excellent communication. Clear, respectful, caring. Linda and her family went out of their way to help us out. If you want to visit the West and prefer nature over the city (which is still within reasonable distance) stay with them. You might even get lucky like us and get some tasty food offered to you!

  • I had a great stay in Linda's flat and would highly recommend it. It is spacious, comfortable, clean, and modern. Linda was a very helpful host throughout.

  • Amazing hospitality from Róisín and her fab family including they're beautiful doggies. Had a great sleep in a very comfy cosy bed after devouring the goodies left in the room for me! Very happy.

    Valerie2020-02-08T00:00:00Z
  • Roisin is a good host that makes you feel really comfortable. It's close by the Ardilaun Hotel, where I spent the day for a dance workshop (very handy!) and 15 minutes walk to the Aquarium. Good location😊

  • A small but very comfortable and clean room in a family home. Roisin and her family are very welcoming. Their two dogs are gentle and very affectionate. Roisin was a kind and thoughtful host who went out of her way to be helpful

  • Roisin's space was an absolutely perfect rest stop for me after being in Salthill for a wedding over New Year's, she made me feel very welcome and went above and beyond to make sure I got checked in and looked after. Meeting all of the family pets was fantastic too! Even if they weren't mine it's a great feeling to be welcomed home by wagging tails!! The room is exactly as shown in the listing and the bed is very comfortable. Guaranteed good night's rest!!

  • Claire's home is perfect home away from home. We were greeted by her smiling face and beautiful residence. (She also lives in the property). Claire's home smells so wonderful, had to mention it. It's a beautiful property located on the wild Atlantic highway, right off the beach. It's a home on a single lane so just follow the Sat nav directions. Only for people with cars. Easy 20kms drive from the city centre. Two beautiful rooms, one en suite. Comfortable beds. And fireplace with the kitchen. We enjoyed a movie by the fireplace. You can hear the waves roar from the house. If you enjoy that kindof view and sound.  We surely did. She served us delicious continental breakfast with the best Irish bread and tea and yogurt. It was truly an Irish experience. Claire guided us to visit the few best places on the cannamera coast, the scuba dive west point being our highlight. Caught the most amazing sunset there. Since she's also a currently residing at the property you have to be careful about being loud and she needs prior intimation if you require to use her kitchen. She will be very happy to accommodate, like she was for us. Hope to be back.

  • Claire is not only a kind and gracious host, but this listing has a GREAT location facing the water and is an easy, short drive to Galway and surrounding sites. Be sure to drive a mile to the left for the small beach and nautical pub. Mqemorable!

    Hal2019-01-31T00:00:00Z
  • We had an amazing stay at Claire's place - she is a lovely host and the house is in gorgeous surroundings just by the sea. Thank you and we hope to come again!

  • Claire has an outstanding view from her home. Its quiet next to the ocean and it of the city, but an easy and quick drive into Galway city centre. As a host she was so kind and outstanding. She went out of her way. Loved every thing about it! Will definitely stay here again next time I am out this way!

    Ali2018-10-28T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent welcome from Claire who is a caring person and very available for her guests. This trip was a real pleasure.

    Laura2018-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • Claire's house has an amazing view and great homey feeling. Claire was quick to respond and a great host. always made sure we were taken care of and even was able to accommodate one more person without question. super helpful with information. She also served the best tea, biscuits, and bread. If you're looking for a great trip to Galway, she has the perfect home.

  • We stayed at Claire's for two nights. We did not meet Claire, but her friend George who welcomed us to Claire's home was very friendly and gave us great advice for local pubs and what to visit in Connemara. Claire's friends also brought superb home-baked bread, which we loved. The house is on the beach and we loved the sunsets in the sea.

  • Michelle warmly welcomed us into her home very last minute when our original stay cancelled on us on New Year’s Eve! Michelle answered us very quickly and assured us we would be able to stay here. The space was very clean, extremely comfortable bed, hot shower. Everything we needed for a night. We took a taxi into Galway City which was relatively inexpensive and were also able to explore the area of Barna during our time here. We had a rental car and were able to park on the premises for free which was very easy and helpful. We would highly recommend staying with Michelle!

Charming self catering cottage, situated west of Galway city and within walking distance of the quaint village Spiddal. With Connemara, the Burren and the Aran Islands on your doorstep why not have Cloch Na Scith as your base for your Irish adventure. Mentioned in Frommers Ireland/Lonely Planet/Michelin Guide/ The Rough Guide/ Travel 101/ Le Guide du Routard. Regretfully the cottage is not suitable for children.
    Open fire in living area.
  • Great space, so relaxing and nancy was such a great host. Would definetly go back again.

    Mark2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Travelled with a group of 4 girls and we LOVED Nancy's cottage. She was so welcoming and willing to help, and the space is exactly as pictured. It was winter, so it was a bit cold of course, but the scenery was still breathtaking. The full kitchen was helpful as well. The only problem we had was transportation - it is a bit more difficult to navigate the bus system than expected and taxis were very expensive, if willing to drive this far out at all.

    Julia2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • One of a kind thatched cottage in an awesome location near the sea and city of Galway. Clean, warm, cozy stay with a great hostess besides! And...2 adorable donkeys waiting for carrots each day!

  • Ita’s place is very charming and the perfect place to stay with a fairly larger group (we had 5.) Ita gave us very clear instructions on how to find the accommodations and left us cookies and water to have during our stay. The place itself was very clean and decorated nicely. Very happy with our stay!

  • We had a lovely weekend in Furbo in itas house. The place was perfect size for us four adults and two small babies. Spotlessly clean and a lovely open kitchen/living area with tasteful decor throughout. Bedrooms are good size with the house heats up quickly using the central heating. Proximity to a nice central green area was great for our daughter and the beach is on the doorstep too. Ita was a perfect host communicating quickly and accomodating to our needs with young children. • We will never forget our stay at Fionas! We highly recommend her Air BnB. Her space was so comfy and cozy and not to far from town. She went above and beyond to help us feel at home and we will never forget her and her kindness. :)

  • Beyond amazing!!! The village was so cute, and Fiona was an espectacular host. Super clean, super cozy!! Huge bed, yummy breakfast!! Warm towels, everything was what we expected and more. Fiona even gave us a ride to the village and suggested many places to eat. We had an amazing time. Thank you Fiona!!

  • Our stay at Pinehurst Retreat was absolutely incredible. From before we arrived until the moment we left, Fiona was in touch with us. Communication was excellent! When we arrived we were in awe of how beautiful everything was. She really thought of everything! She left us lots of treats—chocolate, bread, yogurt, jams, bread. I am gluten free and she even provided gluten free items. I was beyond grateful. Her husband and daughter even took us into downtown Galway one day so that we did not have to pay a taxi fair. They gave so many recommendations of places to try and it was all great! I cannot say enough good things about this place!! The location, the scenery, all of it was fabulous! So happy to have found this place. I would come back again and again!

  • Fiona‘s guestsuite was perfect for our stay near Galway. Very nice details, clean and nice furnishing.

    Valentina2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • Fiona’s space is incredible. It was such a cozy room, the bathroom was large, and she has added so many thoughtful touches. There was coffee, tea, bread, fruit, and yogurt for breakfast, and some snacks and cold beer in the fridge were perfect after a long day of driving. The bed was so comfortable. I really enjoyed the night we spent there. I wish we could have stayed longer!

    Randi2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • Such a cozy place. Felt so welcome, easy checkin, snacks, coffee and tea with comfortable bed. Beautiful area to stay.

    Kristin2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • There are not enough words to describe how much we loved this BnB. Fiona really thought of everything to make our stay extra special. Unfortunately a hurricane was coming through the area when we were there and Fiona went above and beyond to make sure we were safe and looked after. I would absolutely suggest this BnB to anyone looking for a beautiful place to stay. The location is perfect and the thoughtfulness makes it even more special. Thank you Fiona we hope to be back one day.

    Samantha2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • We absolutely loved our stay in Barna. The room was beautiful, cosy, clean and comfy. • Folks, this is the BEST AIRBNB I have ever stayed — I have stayed in many Airbnb’s across Europe and South America. This is the best one by far!!! Ray and his wife are a WONDERFUL couple. The house, room, and bathroom were spotless — nothing to complain. Breakfast was great as well — you even get a snack to take on for the day. Ray and his wife gave us great tips about places to go and eat. I felt like I was at home!! Nothing to complain. Next time I am in Galway I will definitely stay there!!

    Matheus2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • The hosts are super friendly and even picked us up from Galway because it was stormy and we couldn't get to the place otherwise. They gave us great tips and there was always breakfast! The location is very nice and we would always come back.

    Maria2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Ray's house is in a very handy location for anyone visiting Conamara. It's just off the main road west, easy to get to and close enough to the city. Room was very clean and comfortable. Host was lovely and was as helpful as possible. Breakfast included. There's a lovely homey feel to the house. We were only there for a short stay, but it would be a great base for a longer visit to the area.

  • This is a great location. Short walk to get a proper good cup of coffee and if you get fine weather like we did, an exception spot just outside the property to watch the morning sun shining on Claddagh and the seals and swans splashing around a few yards away. The property itself is homely and secure with the front of the apartment looking out onto a pleasant courtyard. The remote management (in Covid Times) was perfect, we changed our mind a couple of times for our checkout date and the response to our request was pretty immediate and especially good since our communication was in the late evening and at the weekend. Great value place to experience the cracking city that is Galway.

This is a bright, spacious, comfortable accommodation. Only a 20 minute walk to the beach/village and 25 minute drive to the city. A perfect place to stay along The Wild Atlantic Coast, with plenty of things to do and see, a simple drive through the breathtaking Connemara landscapes, catching a ferry to Aran Islands or scenic walks. A huge amount of places to choose from to eat and drink, locally and in the city. Spiddal and Galway are truly stunning, a perfect way to experience Ireland.
Your private room is within our family home. The house is pretty big so your room is very private and you won't hear from us. We don't charge a cleaning fee so would ask that you leave the property as you find it. You have your own entrance to the front of the house. Although there is no access to the kitchen, there are tea and coffee making facilities in the room (tea, coffee and sugar provided). There are plates, cutlery and glasses etc for wine or beer and a mini fridge for milk, snacks and sandwiches. There is also a small storage cupboard for cereals/bread etc. Strictly no access to upstairs.
Spiddal is a beautiful little village and the neighbourhood is very friendly.
  • We havent seen much of Michelle or her family, but everything she offered us was great. We got some snacks for our stay and everything was clean. No loud noises. Vincenz2019-12-05T00:00:00Z
  • Had a lovely stay at Martin’s place. Everything I needed was there, it was a nice and cosy place to spend the beginning of winter and a week exploring Galway.

    Clare2019-12-03T00:00:00Z
  • Very nice private room and great bed, right next to the bathroom, good shower. Coffee and cereal for breakfast everyday made going out for busy touring easier. Martin is a great host, very friendly and personable. It's a beautiful house. You will need to walk and wait for buses to and from the city center, which didn't seem to run too frequently, but otherwise it was a great Airbnb spot. You'll only need one bus to the city center and that drops you off at Eyre Square, and once you're there, you're set for fun and exploring. All in all, a good experience. I recommend this location.

  • Kim and John’s beautiful house offers wonderful views (when the weather allows) and their rooms are enormous. Everything worked and they were so friendly and hospitable- not like landlords at all!

  • Our hosts went above and beyond, coming to a near by hotel to meet us when we couldn't locate their home. Once we arrived it was lovely and they both were very friendly and hospitable. We recommend their home for sure ! Tha k you for making our time in Ireland a cherished visit!

  • Kim and John have a fabulous place for you to stay, and their warmth and hospitality make it a wonderful experience. It was everything I could have imagined ... and more! Their home is beautiful and spacious, quiet and comfortable. It was a treat staying here, making it a favorite during our three-week visit to the Emerald Isle. Plus, Kim and John were so friendly and willing to talk while we enjoyed their continental breakfast. They offered helpful suggestions for restaurants, seeing the sights and driving through the Connemara countryside. Book it. You'll be very happy here.

  • Lovely bnb! Appreciated the local suggestions, large and clean space, and the very welcoming hosts. This was a great retreat from the bustle of the city as it was quiet and spacious, and beautiful views.

  • The annex is a lovely space is to chill out for a weekend. It’s a great location if you want to explore both Galway city and beyond. The place was extremely clean and Caitriona was really responsive and very willing to help. Would recommend 😊

  • We enjoyed our time in the Annex. The place was spacious, organized, clean and comfortable. The little convenience store near by is handy for basic needs and more. Overall our stay at Caitriona’s place was lovely.

  • Thank you for the lovely place Caitriona! We absolutely loved our stay, everything was just spot on! Before even leaving we were thinking about when would be the next we’d come to the place again 🙂

  • The apartment is very quiet with a great bed. It’s spotlessly clean and fresh. It’s also in a great location - a short trip in to Galway and a great starting point to tour the Connemara.

  • Beautiful house neat and clean. The bedroom is the most beautiful part of the house. Caitriona is a kind and always available person and really cares about the well-being of its guests. The house is located in front of the ocean and the area is really beautiful. Come back!

  • Caitriona's accommodation is very modern and meticulously organized. We have loved the modern kitchen facility. The bathroom with a large bathtub is clean and comfortable. When we stayed, it was a bit cold for us but the two-storied accommodation had been warmed up before our arrival. Although we had not met Caitriona, our communication with her was very smooth and quick.

  • Our stay was so relaxing and beautiful. The apartment is spacious and clean. The beach is only a short walk away and there is a small shop nearby where you get bread, milk etc. We will definitely be returning soon! Thanks again!

  • This place was absolutely beautiful and comfortable, a home away from home. If you don’t mind being outside the city of Galway, this is a great place, quiet and relaxing. If we are back in this area, we would love to rent Caitriona’s place again.
