Cabin 20 miles from the Great Basin National Park. Nice deck with gas firepit, 2 BBQs, and a magnificent view. One bedroom, loft, kitchen, and living room. Great wildlife and amazing starry nights. Telescope available for guest use. There is also a hammock available for our guests use.
Approximately a 20 minute quick drive to be at the Great Basin National Park. A lot of wildlife in the area. Beautiful view of Mt. Wheeler from the living room or deck. The night sky is like no other. View the milky way and millions of stars, and watch satellites pass over.
Cute cabin conveniently located near Great Basin National Park. Wildlife viewing, hikes into the park to see Bristlecone Pines, glaciers, mountain lakes, and tours through Lehman Caves. The cute town of Baker is located 5 miles from the park. Almost zero light pollution making the night sky amazing for star viewing. This is offered at the Park usually on Saturday night in the summer.
  • This is an absolutely cute and quaint cabin in Nevada. The home was very clean and inviting. Sally was an excellent host and very responsive if I had any questions. Upon entering the home we were welcomed with fresh flowers on the table, cookies and a welcome note. The kitchen had all the required amenities to cook all our meals. There is no cable television but there is a DVD player and an assortment of movies to choose from. I look forward to staying at this home again next time we are in the area.

  • My husband and I had a wonderful stay at Sally and Terry's cabin. Upon arrrival, we found fresh flowers, cookies, chocolates, and bottled water! The artwork and decorations are so attractive with a woodsy theme. The cabin is exceptionally clean and well stocked with everything you need. We loved the solitude of the location and proximity to Great Basin National Park. If we are in the area in the future, we would love to have a longer stay at this cabin.

  • This cabin was just perfect. Sally and Terry have provided a wonderful retreat for destressing. It is clean and well stocked. Sally went out of her way to make sure that my 'wish list' for our week's stay fulfilled. We arrived to a nice welcome that included muffins and beautiful flowers. Every morning to my extreme delight we were treated to a hummingbird battle. Because of my love of hummingbirds we always bring a feeder with us to enjoy them. Sally had a feeder we weren't aware of beforehand so these little guys were in heaven having two, to feed from. No tv, no wifi, no worries. Our unplugged vacation at the cabin was very rewarding. I would definitely stay at the cabin on a future visit.

  • Our stay at this cabin was the best airbnb we have ever experienced. Sally and Terry really know how to spoil their guest.... fresh flowers, pumpkins cookie and hot chocolate. We will rebook next august. We give them a A++.

  • The listing description was accurate. The décor was very much in tune with the area, The stars were great--night was clear and they really looked so close --it was like they could be touched. We did go to Great Basin Park and went on the cave tour. It was excellent. The caves themselves were not as tight-spaced as I though they would be. There were lights in some places and we only had to duck down a few times,

  • The cabin was immaculately clean and in a peaceful location. Our favorite part was the deck and telescope for star watching at night.

  • Sally and Terry were very gracious hosts during our visit to the Great Basin National Park. They were very helpful in sharing all of the information they could about the surrounding area before our visit. They made sure to fill us in on details of the general area, directions to the cabin, great hiking trails and dining recommendations. The cabin was very well cared for, clean and full of amenities that we enjoyed during our stay. Thank-you for being wonderful hosts and for making our first Airbnb experience outstanding.

  • We had a great stay at Sally and Terry's. The clean and cozy cabin stands alone in a picturesque setting near Great Basin National Park. The loft bedroom is open to the downstairs, and both queen beds (loft and main) are very comfortable. Note that the loft's ceiling is only about 4 feet tall and stairwell is tight, so if you are especially tall or wide, opt for the main floor bedroom! The house also has a modern kitchen and bath and is well-stocked with DVD's to watch. As others noted, there's no internet or TV, so plan to trade networking for nature. We enjoyed reading, star gazing, and strolling the property during our visit, along with hiking several trails in Great Basin National Park. Although we didn't meet Sally and Terry directly, their communication with us was excellent. We would absolutely recommend their place as an ideal getaway spot.

CLOSED FOR THE WINTER OPEN MARCH 15 2018 Vintage 1952 recently refurbished Trailer, with all new floors and new kitchen and bathroom. Whole place is for quests. Located 5 miles from Great Basin National Park and 1/2 mile from Baker. Wonderful views from all directions and very private with own drive way and lots of parking. Pets allowed
The area is quite large and space to have BBQ outside with view of beautiful apple orchard that often has deer crazing. There is room for dogs but must be well behaved.
The Great Basin National Park is exceptionally beautiful, and it has wonderful Lehman caves to explore. The local town of Baker has 2 restaurants both very good, a gas station and a post office. It is a remote area but very beautiful and uncrowded.
  • Great place to stay. Rowena was very understanding when my arrival was much later than expected. Easy access to Great Basin!

  • Upon arrival, Rowena and Rex warmly greeted us. The couple offered insights to navigate in and around Baker NV. The trailer is clean, tidy, comfortable and situated minutes away from Great Basin National Park entrance. Thank you Rowena and Rex for being terrific hosts and the great experience. Baker NV is in the Pacific Standard Time zone, however, smart phones may adjust (or remain) to the Mountain time zone due to close proximity to the Utah border.

  • We enjoyed our stay in this vintage trailer. Water pressure in the shower was fantastic. The view out back of the trailer was lovely. We enjoyed watching the wildlife. Rex and Rowena are wonderful hosts. We would love to stay here again if we are back in Baker.

  • Wonderful trailer with great views of mountains, fruit trees and visiting deer. Rex and Rowena were delightful hosts. Hiked every day in Great Basin NP - mountains, caves, ancient trees, glacier lakes and more.

  • The trailer is small, but workable, and our stay was enjoyable. Great Basin National Park is easily accessible, and Rex and Rowena help guests make the most of the recreational opportunities in the area. Both the town and this property succeed in taking visitors back in time. Though some upgrades have been made to the trailer, it certainly has a rustic feel. That being said, the bed was comfortable, the tap water tasted great, the hot water was plentiful (with good water pressure for showering), and the refrigerator was larger than what is found in many hotel rooms. It seems that the remoteness of Baker makes the connectivity of modern-day electronics somewhat iffy. The TV did not pull in many stations, and the reception was poor. There was wireless internet available on the property, but the strength of the signal depended on where within the trailer we were situated. The wifi signal was adequate during most of our stay, but there were lapses, times when we could not get establish an internet connection.

  • The trailer is a classic. The location is restful and serene. Excellent and convenient location to Great Basin NP and eateries in the small and quiet town of baker, no tourist traps. Hosts are good, friendly, and helpful. We will stay here again when in the area.

  • we loved our stay at Rex and Rowena. Well priced. It is a modest place but perfect to get to the Great Basin. The hosts are very sweet. Lots of wildlife all around and great starry night. We Loved it!

  • Rex and Rowena have done a great job of refurbishing their vintage trailer. It was the perfect place for us to stay in Baker. We had enjoyable and informative conversations with the hosts and a great time visiting Great Basin National Park.

Not much light pollution out here, so - if skies are clear and the moon isn't full - you'll have a great view of our dark night sky filled from your deck or the end of our road. If the moon is full, you'll be able to view craters with binoculars!
  • We stayed at Margaret's place for one night on our road trip and were so glad we did. She was a great host, she made sure we were settled and was very accommodating- she even gave us a cup full of locally grown apricots and a small telescope to look at the night sky. Her place in Baker has 360º sweeping views of mountains and landscapes, and at night you can see the full milky way. The bungalow is very clean and charming, with a comfortable memory foam bed and kitchenette and bathroom, perfect for a quiet and relaxing visit on the range. Our only regret is that we didn't stay longer.

  • Before I even get to the review let me say that Great Basin National park is clearly one of the most underappreciated gems of the park system. It combines a unique environment, stunning natural beauty, a fantastic set of trails for all levels, bristlecone pines (among the longest-lived life forms on Earth), a spectacular cave, and a top-notch astronomy program. Now that you know why you want to be staying right outside the entrance to the park let me suggest this is the place to stay. It is just perfect for one or two people. Comfortable, clean, and the view out the back door is to die for! The host who lives next door is kind, friendly, knowledgeable, and a real joy to chat with. She handed me maps, guide books, and even loaned me her telescope to go star gazing. I stayed here for a week when I was in the area for a speleology convention and it was everything I could have hoped for. If I'm every back I can only hope this place isn't already booked!!!

  • Margaret's place is wonderful! Very clean, bright, beautiful view, comfortable bed, great shower... need I say more? Of course you're probably visiting Great Basin National Park and it's just a hop, skip, and a jump from this lovely place. It's a gorgeous park and you'll love it. You'll also enjoy Margaret, who's friendly, hospitable, interesting, and helpful, without being overbearing in the least. I've been traveling for six months and my week in Baker will most certainly go down as a big highlight. Thank you!

  • Margaret, is a wonderful host and her home has such a spectacular view. Don't miss a chance to spend some relaxing time here. Highly recommend!!

  • Our hostess Margaret was wonderful! So full of knowledge about Great Basin and the surrounding area. You have to realize that this is a little town out in the middle of nowhere but Margaret makes the experience great. The bungalow is lovely, clean and inviting. The bed was very comfortable and having such good wifi was unexpected. We would absolutely stay at Margaret's again.

  • The bungalow was the perfect spot for our days at The Great Basin! The sunrise and sunsets were beautiful and the hiking was fantastic! Margaret was a wonderful hostess and very helpful with our plans!

  • The Bungalow at the edge of town was terrific. Easy access to Great Basin NP, access to a great meal at Kerouac's for dinner and breakfast and the darkest skies I have experienced. Made it great to practice my night photography and did get to see the Milky Way. Margaret was a great host. Met me at checking to get me settled. Bungalow had everything I needed and was clean and had a comfy bed. With a backyard consisting of a National Park what more do you need! Margaret was respectful of my privacy but was great to be able to spend a bit of time with her to tell me about Baker and the NP. Highly recommend staying here if you want a great stay in Baker, NV.

  • This is a great little bungalow just outside Great Basin NP. Very convenient, clean and cozy and the host is extremely knowledgeable and helpful

Star gazing on the frequently clear nights from the spacious private deck is something all guests seem to appreciate and enjoy. Moonlit nights illuminate the vast expanse of the valley with its unique mountain silhouettes. Baker is a designated "Dark Skies Community" with minimal light pollution.
  • Wonderful host, the trailer was very clean, has a great view of the park whether laying in bed or having dinner on the deck. Highly recommend staying here when visiting Great Basin NP.

  • Patricia is a wonderful person and host. Her trailer is clean and comfy with all the amenities you would want when traveling to this remote part of the country. The view from her patio of The Great Basin National Park is worth the stay alone. We appreciated Patricia's easiness and excellent communication. She was thoughtful enough to provide a loaf of banana bread to welcome us, too! Highly recommend ~ Jack (Austin, TX)

  • Very close the Great Basin National Park. Beautiful scenery all around. This home has everything you need.

  • This is a lovely place to stay. Quiet, very very pclean, with awesome views. We were able to walk right out into the desert for walks right from the property. The sunset was at back of property, moon rise and sunrise at the front, and there was a wonderful deck to enjoy them from. The kitchenette had everything we needed, plus a very nice barbecue was available to use. There was a TV DVD player in one room with an awesome video about the Great Basin park, which was a 5 minute drive away. The one thing to be aware of is there is no communal living (URL HIDDEN) has the 2 bedrooms, bath, and kitchenette so if you, like us, went out exploring most of the time and just ate and slept in the home it would be perfect, but if your idea is to hang out on a living room sofa this might not be your best choice. The "trail boss", Patricia, was lovely, greeted us with homemade banana bread and goodies and made us feel welcome as she oriented us to the place. Altogether a wonderful stay, would highly recommend.

  • Patricia is easy to communicate and very friendly. The place is definitely a gem, comfortable beds, full amenities, great location (close to Great Basin NP) and gorgeous view! Love this place and will definitely come back and recommend to friends! Thanks Patricia!

  • Thank you for a wonderful stay! We've already told many of our friends about this fabulous, cozy place to stay in maximum comfort in such close proximity to a rugged national park, Great Basin National Park. The Astronomy Programs are a must see! Highly recommended.

  • Baker is a village in the middle of nowhere and the "End of the (URL HIDDEN) is really at the end of the dead end road, looking in the desert of Great Basin... But it's clean and fully equipped - and the way to Kourac's Restaurant (great wines, good food and delicious breakfast) is only one minute to drive. So it's a perfect spot to discover Great Basin NP.

  • Nice little trailer in a small town near Great Basin NP. Quiet, enjoyable outside patio facing the high desert. We only missed a place to sit and hang out inside the house. Apart from that, I recommend Patricia's home and its great views of the mountains!
