Holiday Rentals in Governor's Harbour

Just booked in Governor's Harbour

Pink Loft is located on beautiful Governor's Harbour Bay overlooking Cupid's Cay. On the upper floor of a recently renovated building, the loft has a fully equipped kitchen, spacious bathroom and is beautifully furnished in lively tropical colors and crisp new furniture. Beaches, shops and restaurants are within walking distance, and the sunsets from the balcony are spectacular.
Located steps from downtown Governor's Harbour, beside "Da Perk" Cafe and stone's throw from food stores and shops. Easy walking distance to a bakery, The Buccaneer Restaurant and beaches. The Friday Night Fish Fry is a short walk along the harbour's edge. Peaceful and fantastic views of the Harbour. Newly constructed on the upper floor of a recently renovated old building, the PINK LOFT has a full kitchen with range/oven, microwave, fridge and dishwasher. The entrance foyer, with original Abaco Pine and Andros Madeira ceiling beams and close board planking is entered from Hayne's Street through a private courtyard. The PINK LOFT has a modern spacious bathroom with a large walk-in shower. There is also a private outside shower. The architectural beauty of the loft is enhanced by large roof beams and high ceilings, complimented with pine wooden floors. The Lanai door to the balcony can open up completely with a pull-over insect screen when required. The sunset views from the balcony are legendary. The loft is fully air-conditioned with a flat screen TV and wireless internet access. Conveniently located within walking distance to numerous restaurants and miles of ocean beaches are close by - 5 minutes by car or 15 minutes walking. This is the perfect location from which to experience and enjoy all of the activities and sites that Eleuthera has to offer.
  • The Pink Loft was a dream, couldn't fault it. It's prime location in the charming town of Governors Harbour offers the best spot for sunset and watching the world go by from the balcony. The house is stocked with all you need, all the mod cons and a luxury feel. The great air con and fans are just what you need after a day at one of the many local beautiful beaches. Locals are wonderfully friendly and the small town is charming with all the shops and amenities you need, but an authentic local feel. Great communication before and throughout the stay from our host. We're sad to leave but so pleased to have found this amazing place to stay! For local recommendations: Beaches - Twin Coves (snorkelling), Ten Bay Beach (paddle boarding), Lighthouse Beach (amazing but need a 4x4 to get here!), French Leave (v local) Fishing trip - Paul Petty (ask @ the buccaneers bar 2 mins from The Loft)

  • Nice and modern flat, exactly as described/seen the photos - a great anti-resort loft. The quiet location is in the middle of sleepy Governors Harbour and has local grocery shops less than 1 minutes walk. The loft has a nice kitchen, good A/C and a beautiful modern bathroom/shower. I'd recommend car hire to drive to neighbouring beaches or towns in the day.

  • We give the Pink Loft 5 stars because the value of what you get for the price you pay is quite amazing. Particularly on an island which most times can feel “rustic”, and sometimes less charming than that. Upon arrival, we were happy to find that the space was well maintained and obvious care is taken to ensure a clean presentation. The Pink Loft is a recent remodel that was well done, with marble countertops, travertine tile in the spacious shower and nice small touches throughout. From our research, it seemed that you’d need to pay much more to stay in a place as modern as this on the island. There was ample space for two people and the vaulted ceiling added a sense of spaciousness in a relatively small area. It even has a decent sized closet next to the bed which we weren’t expecting and according to our kayaking guide, cable television is a luxury on the island. There is also a very nice assortment of plates, cups, pots & pans in the kitchen which we used several times during our stay.   The librarian down the street affectionately called it the  “Pink Perch“ and remarked that it must be great to be in the middle of the action right in town. It is indeed at the main intersection in Governor’s Harbor settlement. The harbor is unmistakably gorgeous, beautiful turquoise/blue water as far as you can see, typical of Eleuthera, but as a reminder that you are in the middle of the settlement, during the day there are lots of horns honking, dogs barking and roosters crowing. Still it is surprisingly quiet at night. The good thing about this location is that two of the best grocery markets on the island are within walking distance (three if you can walk a mile uphill). This was important since we intended to make use of the kitchen. Speaking of that…another good thing about being “in the middle of the action” – every afternoon (except Sunday) a couple different groups of guys sell fish and spiny lobster literally right in front of the loft, which they had caught that morning – awesome! This makes the beach in front of the loft excellent for buying fresh seafood, but not a great place to play in the water (they tend to leave some of their discarded bits right there to be taken out with the tide…the tide didn’t get that memo). Speaking of playing in the water – the beaches for playing are nearby…the best one on the island, French Leave beach was just the other side (Ocean-Side) and was nearly deserted. We commented that any beach this large and beautiful in Hawaii would be an absolute mob scene of people…not here. Here you will most likely have the beach to yourself for hours.   If you don’t want to cook, several good places to eat are nearby. The mile walk uphill to Bacchus Fine Foods is worth it…we liked it so much we drove on days we didn’t feel like walking. It is like a small Euro café/market/deli with an excellent menu and some gluten-free/vegan/dairy-free options. Other nearby notables were...

  • Stay in this place! This place absolutely made our trip to Eleuthera. The loft is clean, spacious, gorgeous and has all the amenities of a private beach house - balcony overlooking the Harbor (the sun sets right through the window!), kitchen fully stocked with dish ware and cookware (a must in Eleuthera as eating out can be expensive), a very comfortable bed, clean/spacious bathroom (fully stocked with towels) and its own laundry. There is even a TV and we loved watching late-night movies with the balcony open on warm island nights. It is nearby a gorgeous beach (the French Leave - 15 min walk), a good restaurant (Buccaneer club - 30 second walk), a cool coffeeshop (Da Perk), and had its own parking. I would definitely recommend having a car and seeing the many gorgeous beaches of Eleuthera (Gov Harbour has a central location with easy access to anywhere on the island). Thomas was a perfect host - check in/check out was easy, and he was very prompt in answering all of our questions, even providing us with an excellent referral for a car rental in the area. Trust me - after passing through several resorts on Eleuthera - this place has them all beaten hands down for style, comfort, convenience, and value.

  • Loved, loved, loved this place! Great location! Super clean and beautiful! Thomas was super helpful! We really couldn't have hoped for anything any better!

    Julie2017-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • I loved that Thomas was easy to contact and stayed in constant communication. Additionally, when you arrive at the place, you realize that the host has thought of everything. The place is ideally located, in walking distance of banks, food store and the beach!

  • Just amazing!!

    Ann2016-07-29T00:00:00Z
  • It is really nice, well equiped, modern and very centrally located property! If you want to explore all beautiful beaches it is necessary to have a rented car, although a lot of what you need for everyday (shops, cafe, restaurants) are located in few steps. We have stayed here for 4 nights, but would like to return for longer stay!

This lovingly restored 19th century cottage features natural oak floors and high ceilings. It is furnished with a literal treasure trove of unique pieces from around the world.
You enter Stone House into the spacious living room. There is a large loft bedroom above it, accessed by a short flight of steps. The loft has twin beds, a sitting area, and a dramatic cathedral ceiling. Pass through the living room to the dining room and fully equipped kitchen featuring state-of-the-art stainless steel appliances. There is also a full bath on this level with walk-in shower. The master bedroom is accessed down a flight of stairs. It has a king bed and beautifully appointed en suite bathroom with shower and tub. Outside, enjoy Stone House’s two large and lovely shaded porches, which have both dining and sitting areas. Stone House shares a pool with two other houses. You will be surrounded by a lush garden which is home to many fruit trees, bougainvillea, hibiscus, aloe and coconut palms. Amenities at Stone House include flat-screen cable TV, air conditioning, ceiling fan, wireless internet, hi-fi stereo, cordless telephone, and off-street parking. Stone House is part of the Squires Estate collection of beautifully restored 19th century homes on the hill above Governors Harbour. The homes and cottages of Squires Estate were restored and furnished with antiques by a reknowned Italian architect. The décor and level of finish will delight the most discriminating world traveler. Our manager will greet you upon arrival and be available to assist you as needed. She can arrange for daily housekeeping, a private chef, or a car rental (extra charges apply), and provide advice about island activities. Other staff at Squires Estate include a fulltime gardener and housekeepers. Laundry and ironing services are provided on the premises. Stone House can be combined with other historic homes and cottages in the Squires Estate collection for larger groups. The town of Governors Harbour, a one-minute walk down the hill, has a charming collection of 19th century homes and churches overlooking its historic harbor. Buy fresh fish and lobster every afternoon from fisherman at the town dock, or visit the recently restored Haynes Library, which dates from 1897, for the weekly coffee hour for foreign residents and tourists. Governors Harbour has grocery stores, restaurants, liquor stores, two banks with ATMs, a bakery, gift shops, a dive shop, and a medical clinic. Friday Night Fish Fry in Governors Harbour, a street/beach party that brings together all the tourists and locals with food, drink, and dancing in the street, is not to be missed. Walking over the hill in the other direction takes you to French Leave Beach, the finest beach on the island and one of the great beaches of the Caribbean. By foot, it’s about 10 minutes to French Leave, a mile-long crescent of pink sand which is literally deserted most of the time. Most visitors to Eleuthera rent a car, because the island is rural and spread out, and a car is the only practical way to get around. By car, Stone House is just a minute from French Leave Beach. Eleuthera is famous for its 100 miles of spectacular, deserted beaches. The island, home to just 8000 residents, is completely safe any time of the day or night. Enjoy the rare experience of picking up hitch-hikers and leaving your keys in the car wherever you go. The snorkeling, diving, and fishing on the island are world class. Boating, surfing, and other water sports are also popular. You can rent power boats, sailboats, sea kayaks, bikes. You can have a charter captain take you out for excursions of various types. There is excellent sightseeing as well. Eleuthera has vast caves, cliffs, a bottomless ocean hole, many unique beaches, historic churches and 19th century homes, and small villages to explore. We hope you will enjoy Stone House, and experience all our island has to offer.
  • We were actually upgraded to Belmont house on the same property. Fabulous decor, pool, view and easy to walk to town or beach. Definitely coming back next year. Also very easy to communicate and helpful with area recommendations , taxis, restaurants. Beautiful beaches very close to the house . Also Lovely house keeper called Annie.

    Lucy2016-09-06T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed the location and the house. Everything looked new or renovated and it was very comfortably decorated. I truly enjoyed just lounging on the front porch. Restaurants and grocery were within walking distance, as was both the Atlantic and the Caribbean. Lovely stay on an equally lovely island!

  • We had a wonderful stay in Eleuthra and this house is one of the reasons why we would go back. The house is beautiful, clean, quiet and located within walking distance to restaurants and stores. The house also has parking and a pool! The house manager, Annie, was so accomodating! She was available to meet us when we arrived, walked me thru the house and told me about the town, helped when I needed clean linens and followed-up before we left. Thank you Matt, Tara & Annie for making our stay wonderful!

    Natalie2017-07-02T00:00:00Z
  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the cottage and plan to return in the near future. Annie definitely made the difference in our stay. Her thoughtfulness and attention to detail made our stay very special.

  • Terrific house. Great location. We went with kids and it was very clean and quite. Lovely huge gardens. Could not use pool as we ran into cloudy days but we will come back! Lovely easy walk to one of the best beaches we saw in our lifetime!

  • We had a wonderful stay in The Stone House. We were made to feel very welcome and provided with some delightful local provisions to get our stay started. The house is beautifully decorated, very authentic and very comfortable. The gardens are a delight and made for some long relaxing breakfasts. Governors Harbour is full of interesting sights and the bay is stunning. The house is also close to the Atlantic side of the island and some of the best beaches in the world. There are a number of restaurants in the area that have excellent chefs and we explored them fully.

  • Paul and Amy are very gracious host. They will make sure you have everything you need when staying at their apartment. They also made sure we do not miss the key attractions and helped plan our trip to Eleuthera. The location of the apartment is very convenient. It is a great base camp to visit the island. You will find restaurant, shops, etc at walking distance.

    Vincent2016-04-11T00:00:00Z
  • While it wasn't my first trip to Governor's Harbout, staying at Paul and Amy's was everything we could have asked for. Staying on the Cay in Governor's Harbour is the perfect place to be. The apartment included everything we needed and more (great view of the Harbour from the balcony.) Amy was available at any time, before, during, and after my trip. Check in and out was super smooth and convenient. The trip couldn't have been better.

    Kaitlin2017-04-16T00:00:00Z
  • Amy was amazingly nice and accommodating! She went way out of her way to make sure we were alright. The place was the perfect beach apartment- white stucco walls, great view, hot water. We hope to stay here again. It's a very short walk to Friday night's fish fry and a convenient place from which to explore the island. We loved watching the boats come in! Amy helped us find a rental car and everything we needed. I can't say enough about Amy and Paul and how kind and helpful they were. This is the prefect place to experience Eleuthera. It was an excellent trip!!!!

    Emily2016-05-15T00:00:00Z
  • Paul and Amy were the best hosts I've had on AirBNB. They go above and beyond when it comes to giving tips on what to do, amenities, communication and being generally very kind and thoughtful. They provide you with a phone and minutes so you can make quick phone calls, coffee, plenty of beach towels, snorkel gear and a water cooler and cooler for the beach. The location is perfect. You open the front door and your view is of Cupid's Bay. In the morning the sun is there to welcome you and in the evening, a cool shadow as the sun sets behind the place, but casts a warm evening glow onto the harbor. It's about a 10 min scenic walk along the bay to the main part of Governor's Harbour. Haynes Library and the Fish Fry are about 5 min walk away. In the morning's, it does get busy with trucks sometimes in that area due to it being located at the end of a pier, but nothing ever too loud. The back door opens up to a small porch you can sit and relax on chairs, though, there's a small chicken farm back there and the roosters can get loud with their wake up calls. The place itself is perfect for a couple. A kitchen, sitting area, TV, large bedroom and excellent shower make it the perfect place to cook your own meals and hang out if you don't want to explore the island. Below is an ice cream shop and a sitting area with chairs and tables open for anyone to use. I sat there and relaxed in the evenings with a beer just taking in the views. Wonderful place and hosts and hope to return some day soon.

  • I surprised my boyfriend with a trip to Eleuthera for his 30th birthday and Amy and Paul's place made it even more perfect. It was exactly what we needed. Comfortable, convenient, and authentic to the Bahamian vibe and lifestyle. They went out of their way to make sure we had the best trip possible by leaving us suggestions on things to do and accommodating us perfectly. We would absolutely stay again!

    Vanessa2017-06-11T00:00:00Z
  • Staying at Paul (PJ) and Amy's apartment on Cupid's Cay was amazing. It's a perfect little space for 2-4 people, located in the charming and centrally-located Governor's Harbour. The apartment was very clean, secure, and equipped with everything we could have needed---towels, blankets, sunscreen, and kitchen necessities. We rented a car from Justin, who was great and offers awesome rates. Paul and Amy were super communicative before our arrival, and very helpful throughout our stay. They even gave us a local cell phone to use while we were there!!! I couldn't have asked for a better experience--thank you, PJ and Amy!

    Malio 2016-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • Paul and Amy's place is THE place to stay if you want to feel like a local. The town is extremely welcoming and casual, this does not feel like a resort town, this feels like a place people raise their families and stay in for generations. I got directions to the place by simply rolling down my window and asking locals "do you know where Paul and Amy's is?". You are right on the ocean, and you get sea breezes and sunrises from the balcony. The only problem could be that a neighbor has roosters and they can wake you up some mornings.

Imagine waking to ocean sounds. Coffee in your private cabana on a secluded stunning sand beach. Unique hexagonal cottage set amidst goes of coconut, papaya and passion fruit. Offers the tranquility of nature in rustic comfort.
This unique beachfront vacation cottage is built of cedar in an open hexagonal design with beautiful new hardwood floors. Perfect for a honeymooning couple or a small family, the Round House has a queen bed and a sleeping loft (with skylight) which is ideal for up to 3 children. There is a private beach cabana with lounge chairs which is perfect for enjoying the Casuarina Bay beach. New kithcen with handcrafted coral countertops and backlite sea glass was completed in Aug 2014. This rustic house is built on a 14 acre estate stretching across to the ocean on other side of the island. The house is surrounded with lush plants and fragrant tropical flowers. You will be able to hear the gentle waves on the beach just 20 yards away and awake to the whisper of the breeze rustling through the coconut trees. You can relax on the 360 degree deck, private beach or in the thatched cabana, where there is a freshwater shower. There is new BBQ area over looking the water and outdoor dinning areas on the deck, in the garden and on the beach.

Underwater visibility is up to 100 feet, with water temperatures ranging between 70 and 80 degrees Fahrenheit. One can snorkel from right in front of the house or explore the miles of exceptional beaches with our ocean kayaks.

The adventurous traveler can enjoy nearby islands and virgin coral reefs teeming with exotic tropical fish, or charter boats for world-class bone or deep-sea fishing. Other sports available on the island include golf, tennis and surfing.
  • A delightful experience, efficiently and professionally handled. Excellent information provided and a host of support offered without being suffocated. This property would suit those trying to seek peace and quiet whilst the offer of a car with the property allows access to the restaurants and sights of the island. Doon is an excellent host and finds the right balance between support and respecting the privacy of her guests. I would highly recommend this property to those visiting this beautiful island.

    Peter2015-07-05T00:00:00Z
  • Wow! What a great week. The Round House is so very special. Simple, comfortable, and stunning. And did we mention the outdoor shower? The beach out front is wonderful, the beach just north (Double Bay) of the house and the beach just south (med Beach) are spectacular. Our host Doon and her dog Bimini were very welcoming and made perfect neighbors for our vacation. Steve and Heather Needham, MA April 2016

    Steve2016-04-15T00:00:00Z
  • Such an adorable house. The 360 degree deck allows for chasing the sun, which in many houses on the Atlantic side you lose around 2-3 pm at times. The Kitchen although small was efficient. I thought this was beachfront, and it isn't, there's a small dirt road between the house and the beach, but who cares. Still a great value. There is another house very close, so it is hard to feel there's true privacy as one can find in other homes on the island. The beach is as many are on the island, beautiful and sparse with humans, but not as quiet as many other beaches. May be because of the days of my trip were around the holidays. A/C works. Great shower pressure and the host was extremely helpful and nice.

    Happy2015-12-24T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful place. Very romantic get away. Essentially private beach ....that is gorgeous. Recommend a rental car that has good tires and can handle roads that are rocky.

    Phil2016-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • The Round House is the perfect romantic getaway - simple elegance, eco-friendly, and from practically anywhere in the house you have spectacular views and fresh ocean breezes. We were there the latter part of November and didn't need the AC at all - just used the ceiling fans and open (fortunately screened) windows. We enjoyed having the extra outdoor shower, especially post-swim and to rinse our gear. The fabulous wrap-around porch offers some shade option(s) any time of day, which is essential. It's not exactly on the beach, but great just the same for hanging out. The lovely cabana down the path was a great spot to hangout, sip coffee in the morning, read a book, and watch the waves. The beaches in both directions are spectacular, so it's easy to walk from the house and explore. The water was a bit rough during our visit, so some times we just went to the other side of the island, less than 10 minutes away. The Round House is off the beaten path, though close enough to restaurants and town to make outings easy and enjoyable. We recommend a 4WD vehicle for practically anywhere you go - the vehicle available at the Round House (for additional cost) provides good, simple function. We also appreciated that a cooler and freezer blocks were provided. The natural decor and personal touches throughout the house and grounds are beautiful. Really enjoyed our host - Doon - a perfect balance of respecting our privacy and offering us great service and friendship. We would definitely go back.

    Ned2016-11-25T00:00:00Z
  • The Round House is a really great and cosy place to relax with direct access to a wonderful beach. We enjoyed our stay pretty much as well as the peacefull atmosphere on Eleuthera.

  • Beautiful experience! Natural, human, ecofriendly..., highly recommendable. Thanks Doon, Taja and Casurina. We spent 5 nights in this magical house in Eleuthera island. Never seen so many stars in the sky. All the best for Doon and her friendly family! Cheers, Mariano, Mariela, Julia and the baby.

  • An incredible dream.... we were desperately looking for a private and intimate place to spend a romantic week in Eleuthera Bahamas, far from noise, people and all those big poshy resorts. The photos aren't far from the beauty of the Round House in reality. We strongly suggest this for couples looking for a "hippy style" unconventional romanic getaway. Taja and Doon were incredibly nice and greeting and the privacy we had was unbeatable. Hope to come back soon...Giuseppe and Teresa

The bathrooms were bright and perfectly situated, the A/C's easy to use, the The kitchen was great cook in, as we did almost daily. We were lucky to catch the fishermen on the dock and got grouper for lunch or dinner. Cannot beat that! The situation of the house is perfectly located in town, you can walk to everything. Theresa showed us around the Island and told us insider tipps when it comes to evening programs. The cottage was clean and provided everything you need for a comfortable stay at the Island. If you are looking for a few days on a isolated Island without many tourists and public attractions, Theres and her family on Eleuthera is the perfect location for you!

  • Theresa was an EXCELLENT host. She was extremely welcoming. It literally felt like we were at home. She occasionally left fruits at our door step which were a delightful and unexpected treat. She went above and beyond and assisted with a car rental at a competitive rate. The place was clean and comfortable. Perfect location, as everything is near by. I can't stress enough how pleased we were with our stay. Thank you sooo much!

  • Really enjoyed stay at Theresa's place. It's tidy and comfortable with lovely garden. Theresa was nice and welcoming with all important info about the island. Amazing Twin Coves beach is just 5-10 min walk away. If you need nice, cozy and affordable base for discovering this beautiful Island of Eleuthera, Theresa's place is the place for you!

Assolutamente consigliato.

  • At the time of writing this, the location of the place on the map is inaccurate. We thought that it was very close to the harbor where the ferry comes in but it's actually 18km north near the airport off of Queens Highway. That being said, Zania was very helpful and had her aunt come pick us up from our ferry. Her aunt lives next door and was very helpful the entire time. She even arranged for us to rent a car for $75 per day. I don't know how we would have gotten anywhere without a car. The place is really nice and secluded. Tons of space and a nice wrap around deck. The kitchen is big too though lacking a few essentials such as pots (there are 3 pans though). We cooked breakfast every day and dinner one night.

Nestling in the desirable 'up-hill' community of the historic settlement of Governor's Harbour, Low Cay (“low key”) is a discreet and delightful cottage residence, recently renovated to a unique standard of contemporary elegance.
Re-created in 2012 by its British owners as a stylish and romantic retreat, this one bedroomed hideaway offers couples a taste of local life combined with a five star European standard of interior design, with WiFi and air conditioning throughout. The main living space combines a gorgeous open plan, well-appointed kitchen with the highest quality utensils and equipment and an extensive polished concrete worktop and breakfast bar, and a spacious and elegant lounge with comfortable sofas, bespoke driftwood table, LED TV, a Bowers & Wilkins 'Zeppelin' iPod dock, a hand-made polished concrete occasional table and luxurious expanses of floating, translucent linen curtain. The sense of space and luxury is enhanced by the wonderfully worked full height ceiling and versatile lighting design, which give a scale to the residence that its charming exterior keeps modestly hidden. The bathroom delivers a sense of intimate luxury with its lavishly sized walk-in shower with sand blasted glass screen, hand-made driftwood console with twin basins and natural light filtered through obscured glass windows. The bedroom features a locally designed and constructed super-queen sized (66'W) bedstead and side tables, with an individually commissioned US box spring mattress. Storage is provided in the built-in wardrobe and additional stylish shelving. Through double French doors, the bedroom gives on to the rear covered porch, a large and beautifully furnished room with a delightful aspect over the secluded terraced, landscaped garden, perfect for early morning breakfast or evening cocktails, while to the side of the house an enclosed hot water shower offers a refreshing al fresco bathing alternative. At the front of the house, the full width terrace with extended sun deck gives panoramic views of the historic Cupid's Cay and spectacular Caribbean sunsets - the Caribbean is 250 yards away from the house. The world famous French Leave beach is a one minute car ride away, over the hill on the eastern, Atlantic side of the island.
Situated as it is in the center of the community, all amenities are within walking distance. Charming local cafes, grocery and liquor stores are no more than three minutes walk away. Local fishermen (one is our next door neighbor), sell lobster, conch & grouper down the road every afternoon at the water's edge. The legendary Governor's Harbour Friday night fish fry is a four minute stroll, as is the historic Haynes Library, cultural hub of the local community.

Fantastic Value, Panoramic Sea to Sea views from the top of Eleuthera. Newley renovated and professionally decorated. Hear the waves crashing on the reef while you sit on the porch and watch the cruise ships pass by. Close to town and very quiet.
The apartments are very spacious with everything you need to enjoy a few days or weeks or months.
Close to town, very quiet on top of the Hill look at both the Caribbean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean from the kitchen and bedrooms. Wal to one of the nicest beaches on the island "Twin Cove". 2 miles to " SkyBeach Club" and 1.5 miles to "French Leave Marina and Resort" close to the Friday night Fish Fry
  • Shania View is exactly as described and pictured. A beautiful spot in central Eleuthera. And, you really can see both the Atlantic ocean and the Caribbean sea! Greg and his family were wonderful hosts. Thank you.

  • Greg and Mary were excellent hosts. The place was very clean, well organized and well appointed. The location was also a benefit as it is centrally located. It made commutes to the ends of the island much easier. Being just outside of Governor's Harbour was great as we had quick access to some of the best restaurants a truly great beaches (hard to go wrong with almost any beach you pick). We were lucky enough to have our stay overlap with Greg and Mary's and we really enjoyed their company. Having access to their inside knowledge of the island really enhanced our stay. They really plugged us into the community!

    James2016-07-14T00:00:00Z
  • This place was very nice and we enjoyed our stay! The place was exactly as shown in the pictures. It was very spacious and clean (with the exception of the bathtub being slightly dirty, but nothing extreme). It had 2 bedrooms with air conditioning that worked well and they were both spacious as well with full closets. One of the rooms door did not close properly, but wasn't a big deal for us. The place is located high on a hill which has a beautiful view of both the Atlantic Ocean in the front and the Caribbean Sea in the rear. As a result, we had plenty of breeze and was very comfortable with just leaving the doors open for breeze. It is very close to Governors Harbour which is the main city on Eleuthera, so it is very convenient for grocery shopping, and enjoying some nice restaurants. Governors Harbour is also centrally located in the Island, so it is a good place to stay if you want to explore both the North and South of Eleuthra. Overall, I would highly recommend this place as it was spacious, clean, nice/comfortable, conveniently located, and came with a fully equipped kitchen!

  • Our stay at Shania View was perfect. The place is adorable and very well cared for. Super clean place. Incredible views of the Caribbean and the Atlantic from the nicely supplied kitchen! The owners and hosts Greg and Mary were gracious and inviting. So much so they invited us to their Christmas lobster cook out!! They brought us into their beautifully kind Eleutherian family and made us feel right at home. They always were there to provide an incredible amount of insight in island life and activities on the island. Twin Coves beach is a flip flop walk away and is stunning semi private beach. The ocean waves can be heard all night long. We will be back soon!!

    Joel2017-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • From beginning to end it was a very pleasant experience renting Shania View at Governor's Harbour. We were met by one of the owners Sophia, who handed us the keys and explained a few of the details such as wifi p/w and operating the two a/c's. The cottage was extremely clean and well equipped with everything including a sufficient array of cooking utensils. The other owner Greg, stopped by the next day to see if we had any problems or questions. Their son, Greg Jr. loaned us one of their cell phones as we had forgotten (URL HIDDEN) appreciated and helpful gesture I might add.

    Charles2016-04-05T00:00:00Z
  • This place is the cutest, coziest, perfect place! The pictures perfectly portray what you're getting and we had everything we needed right there. The location was great! So close to Governor's Harbor and basically right in between the airport and the town, which is right where we spent most of our time. When our reservation was confirmed, Greg sent us a long, informative message about places to to eat, buy groceries, the best beaches, etc. We ended up going to many places in the email along with a handy book that was in the condo on the beaches in Eleuthera. We never would have found the beautiful places we did without Greg's helpful info! I would definitely stay here again, it was a great home away from home for our short stay!

  • My mom, sister and I decided to go to an island off of the Bahamas in August. We looked at Harbour Island and Eleuthera but even in August, there was very limited availability in terms of rentals. Luckily, Dolly’s place was available. It is 3 bedrooms, each with a double or queen-sized bed, all of which had comfortable mattresses. The two bedrooms upstairs share a bathroom, and it is technically in one of the bedrooms, so there is not much privacy in one of the bedrooms. The house was built in the late 1800s, as a sea captain’s house. It has original decorative features and large windows, but not all have screens that fit properly. Because of this, there were some bugs that were able to get in. The view from the front porch overlooks the harbor and it is lovely, while the back leaves something to be desired. The house is in a very convenient, safe location, within short driving distances to good beaches and restaurants. Though one definitely needs a car to explore the island, things are easy to get to. I wouldn’t call this a luxurious accommodation, but it is definitely well priced for the location. There is no A/C, but there is a nice breeze off the water and fans are available. Dolly was pretty responsive and helped us reserve a car. That said, there was no manual / directory in the house. But since Dolly was not on site, she asked two friends, Dan and Larry, who lived nearby, to show us the house and provide any help that might be needed. They were really wonderful, going beyond what would be expected. For example, the house did not have beach chairs and they lent us theirs.

  • Very characteristic and very large old house, fully equipped, on a secluded spot, with a small swimming pool. We were welcomed by friendly Michael himself. He answered al our questions and told us nice stories. The housekeeper was easily available. We had a wonderful stay. Michael had tipped us about the car we rented, and that was very helpful.

  • Micheal called me as soon as we had made our booking which was a really nice gesture. He also gave me a contact of a car hire company ( which we used and I also recommend). We arrived much later than planned due to flight delays and had trouble finding the property but I called Micheal who was out of the country and he gave me directions over my cell. The house is in a wonderful location right opposite the famous Tippy's restaurant and beautiful beach. The house itself is rustic but with a new swimming pool which was very well maintained.

  • They are fantastic hosts, congenial and informative as well as networked. They are well known and respected on that island for their relationships with locals and their passion for the nature that the island exudes at every turn. I was provided with detailed lists of answers to FAQs and a full compliment of village resources with phone numbers and recommendations. Jane's husband Scott met us at the pier and gave us a short tour of the local area, allowing us to stop for some necessities at a local store before going to the Unicorn Estate. Once there, a full tour of the estate took some time as it is large and there are so much to awe at, I was entirely taken in by the history, the amenities, the furnishings, the setting etc. I could go on...and on.The Caretaker of the Unicorn is an extremely handy and educated man who was there off and on to make sure we wanted for nothing. The pool was maticulously cleaned daily by the Gardener who roams the estate planting and weeding all day long, every day. He too was amazingly dedicated to the Unicorn's acres of exotic pants and rolling hills. It is much more than a twelve acre estate, it is, just as the name suggests, a legend and most people on the 110 mile long island know about it.

Limestone caves, hidden beaches and sleepy villages are some of Eleuthera's easily accessed attractions. You can snorkel and fish just off the beach or many other places along the 110 mile coast. Surfing, scuba, sailing, fishing and deep sea fishing tours are available. For longer excursions it is best to rent a car for though some guests have hitchhiked. Car rentals are approximately $65-$75/day Nightlife options are laid back and tend to involve a mix of expats, locals and a band or DJ. You might catch one of the rockstars who has settled on the island at an open mic or even find yourself jamming alongside if you are so inclined. Gregory Town, a village 25 minutes to the north by car is an active nightspot. Your hosts, Tommy and Gail, are an easygoing married couple who have resided in the Bahamas for many years and are happy to share their knowledge of the island. Tennis court access for a $25/day fee. maximum 2 hours per day. Non-marking shoes are mandatory., In lieu of renting a car, taxis are available The map shown on the airbnb site is misleading. The loft is in fact 200' from the Atlantic Ocean.k'
Our neighborhood is quiet , surrounded by island nature, a large palmetto grove and the constant soothing sound of the ocean surf.
  • This was the most magical and wonderful time! Gail and Tommy are amazing people and hosts. The home was beautiful, I would say the best style and place to stay on the island! The location just perfect, walking distance to a really nice relaxing beautiful beach. Thank you Tommy and Gail for a really beautiful time!

  • My boyfriend & I stayed for a short 4-day trip, but it was absolutely heaven! We rented a car & drove all around the island, but Palafito was always the most serene and relaxing to come home to. Tommy & Gail were incredibly great hosts, and made sure we had everything we needed. The loft is perfect for 2 people. If you like waking up to the sound of waves crashing, wind blowing through screened windows, and endless tranquility, this spot is for you. It's also far from all the resorts & tourist spots, so you have quite a bit of privacy. I recommend buying food & cooking at the loft to save money, but I would've splurged on all the restaurants if I could've! Many thanks, I will recommend it to many friends looking for a similar peaceful adventure.

  • Tommy and Gail's loft exceeded our expectations. It sits on a beautiful property that is literally across the street from a beach on the Atlantic side of the island. The loft included everything we needed: dishes in the kitchen, ample towels in the bathroom, furniture for sitting outside on the porch, a spot to park our rental car and, most importantly direct, private access to a wonderful beach. Our hosts were very hospitable and pleasant, checking in on us via Airbnb messages during our stay (yes, they provide Wifi in the loft). This is a special place. Highly recommended.

  • Perfect -that's my summary in a nutshell - Tommy and Gail (and Papaya!) were wonderful hosts - the apartment was lovely, the outdoor shower amazing and I could fall out of bed onto the beach...ah, the beach - that was also wonderful! I can't recommend this place enough - thank you Tommy and Gail - This was the perfect getaway - just what I needed to relax, rejuvenate and re-charge. The people on the island were all wonderful and there were plenty of places nearby to visit and explore - the perfect getaway - thank you both do much again!

  • Tommy and Gail were wonderful hosts, the home is beautiful and perfectly located in this wonderful and magic island!!I suggest Anyone to stay there one time in their life.

    Francesco2014-11-29T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful loft and location. Gorgeous beach, water, and reef right outside the front door. The outdoor shower was one of the best parts. The hosts were away during our stay, but they had everything set up and responded promptly to our emails. It was useful having a car for a few days, but once we got situated we found that pretty much everything we needed was at Palafito. (Big Daddy car rental was great and went above and beyond good customer service.) Internet on Eleuthera goes in and out, so don't rely on it. We highly recommend Tommy and Gail's loft to anyone looking for a relaxing, quintessentially Caribbean vacation.

    Jeanette2014-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • This is an ideal loft for a couple looking for gorgeous ocean views, a great location and a loft with literally anything you could want or need (including wifi!). I stayed at the loft with my finace for 5 nights and I wish I could stay longer! Tommy and Gail are everything you want in a host, super helpful, friendly, overall amazing people. They give you as much privacy and help you want and need. Highly recommended you choose the Loft by the Sea when staying in Governor's Harbour or anywhere around the area!!

    Avalon2017-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time at this very clean, perfectly located studio. It really is on THE BEST beach in all of Eleuthera. Better than Harbour Island. We drove up and down the island and the spot in front of Tommy and Gail's is the loveliest spot around. This is a beach front property with ocean views from bed! The studio was very clean, lots of nice towels in the bathroom, and the kitchenette was very functional, with the bare minimum needed to be able to really cook a meal. Very nice spot! Hard if you don't have a car in our opinion. You can walk to Tippy's (less than 5 mins away) and a deli, so if you are happy to just stay on the beach you don't need a car EXCEPT it's too far to walk to the grocery store to buy gallons of drinking water and it's not provided. I would definitely recommend this property.

  • We just left Hibiscus House after a very relaxing two week stay. The accommodations were very comfortable, with a great location overlooking the beach, and Alexandra was extremely helpful with the few very minor problems that emerged. I definitely hope to return.

    George2017-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • Alexandra was a great host. The location is great and the house very functional. The house needs a few updates to make it more luxurious.

    Steph2017-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful place and we really enjoyed our time here. Close to town and the airport and has a beautiful beach. Alexandra was very helpful and the house had everything you would need.

    Frances2017-08-07T00:00:00Z
  • Wow, where to begin. Our favorite feature of the Hibiscus house has to be to the insanely large screened in porch with views of the Atlantic. The hammock and 2 couches made for peaceful mornings watching the sunrise and listening to the crashing waves. The house is comfortable and has everything a family needs for a trip to Eleuthera. We traveled as a family of 4 with a 3 and 1 year old. Alexandra's an extremely great communicator and helped us plan our trip beyond our just our stay at the Hibiscus house. A pack'n'play and high chair were available for use, which made it immensely easier to travel with little ones. There are more than enough beach and bath towels; sheets; pots and pans; kitchen utensils (including kids utensils); paper products; etc. The house is surprisingly large for it only having 2 bedrooms. The family room is massive with space for 8, the dining room is the same, and the screened porch has 3 different lounge areas and 2 dining areas. Alexandra provides many recommendations for restaurants, beaches, nightlife, grocery, etc. A rental car is a must. There's a beach walking distance down the hill (its quite steep) and a pool's available halfway between the house and the beach. While the beach is devoid of rocks it was rougher than many of the others we visited. It's fine for older kids or adults, but we much preferred the French Leave beach (which is a 5 minute drive from the house) for little kids. We would certainly stay at the Hibiscus house again.

    Ryan2017-04-04T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay at the Hibiscus House. Has everything you need including everything for our toddler. The porch is the perfect spot to dine or unwind. Great view, listen to the waves and the birds. Close to town and beach bar/restaurant within walking distance. The house has a lot of charm, it was hard for us to leave. We definitely recommend it as a place to stay.

    Jessica2017-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • The host(ess) was wonderful. She was very attentive with a check in call both the first day of our stay and the last to see if there was anything that we needed. This was our 3rd visit to Eleuthera and the accommodations were the most comfortable! We loved being in Wyckee Estates and enjoyed the beach and the pool. Everything is so close and the location is really central. The beach is one of the prettiest on the island in our opinion. I'd stay here again.

    krislyn2016-07-29T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed 12 nights at the hibiscis house in wykee estates and really loved it! It is a very quiet area, nearly no other people around. Sometimes we were alone at the beach - just a dolphin joined us there... this was amazing!!! The house has everything we needet (as in the description mentioned) and Alex often asked if everything is ok or if we need help. We felt very welcome and relaxed. We can recommend the house to everybody who is looking for a quiet and nice place to stay on eleuthera. We loved it and wood definitely come back there if we'll visit the island again someday.

    Antje2017-03-31T00:00:00Z
  • If you have 4-6 persons in your party, this is the place for you! Alexandra has though of everything you may need and has made it available in this house. It's literally 3 mins walk down a little slop to an amazing beach which is pretty quiet. It's almost like having a private beach. My morning walks to the sunrise was what I loved most. The house is very clean and is something to treasure. Alexandra was easyour to contact and was very interested in our comfort. I give it a 10 out of 10.

Not Affected by Hurricanes...~Three minute walk to Beach~A gated private paved drive off The Queen's Highway takes you to Sand Dollar Cottage nestled on 1 acre lot. Ideal mid Island location, wonderful Caretakers to greet you and offer vehicle rental. A three minute walk down the hill has your toes in the the pink sands of Banana Beach. 12 minute walk takes you to Pasquel's Bistro w infinity pool, good refreshments, lunches, dinner and live entertainment (WIFI avail here also).
Sand Dollar offers all essentials for a comfortable, carefree stay. Kitchen is equipped with microwave, drip coffee maker, gas stove. All basic cook/serving ware, place settings and cutlery and basic seasonings and spices. Beautiful fresh linens and towels, and towels for the beach are all here! On site garden produce & herbs in season. Hammocks to laze about and read in, or even better...have a snooze! Visitors welcome, no additional overnight guests please.
Ideal central location on th Island of Eleuthera. Perfect for day trips to the North where you will explore then famous Preacher's Cave where the Eleutheran Adventures settled after being shipwrecked. You will want to walk this beach over and over, I have seen dolphins on nearly ever visit here, esp if they have a boat to follow. Or take the short water taxi over to Harbour Island and see why many celebs have chosen the charm and laise faire ambience for their residences. There are so many places to explore on what looks like a little spit of an Island. Almost every road will lead to to an amazing beach! The South of the Island' tip has LightHouse Point, another place steeped in history. Along the way there are blue holes to visit, fishing settlements such as Tarpum Bay where around 3-5pm the catch of the day will offer lobsters the size on a man's 11 shoe, or grouper the size of a Volkswagon! Don't worry, you can buy it by the pound! Escape to Eleuthera!
  • Our stay in Sand Dollar Cottage was fabulous. Even before our visit Rachel was very helpful in arranging a car rental and orienting us to the island so that when we did arrive we knew what to expect. The cottage is just as described and perfectly comfortable for a couple. The kitchen was well equipped and we enjoyed cooking most of our meals at home. The house sits on a private drive, a perfect getaway and only a 5 minute walk to one of the most beautiful "private" beaches we've ever seen. Rachel and her caretakers Barry and Chad were readily available during our stay and especially helpful when the power went out on the whole island during a enormous rain storm. Friend's of Rachel's were friendly and welcoming as well. We truly felt welcomed and at home on the island. I would encourage renting a car (if staying anywhere on Eleuthera) so you can easily get to town and explore the island. Pineapple Air and Bahamas Air both have easy and cheap flights to nearby Governor's Harbor. Arrange a car rental ahead of time and they will meet you at the airport. From the house you can walk to the beach or a nearby resort for food and drinks, but getting to town for groceries is a few miles. Don't miss the Friday night Fish Fry in town. We simply loved Eleuthera and the cottage and look forward to returning!

  • Lovely little cottage far off the main path. Great for relaxation and getting away from a busy life. The host and caretakers are delightful and very helpful. The beach is within a few minutes walk. If you are looking for a remote destination where the people are kind, the beaches are beautiful and empty, and life is simple...this is the perfect place to go.

  • one would think an owner would want people to have a good experience with their rental, and have the best vacay ever. be warned. NOT here. and not rachel. in fact there is something very off about her ad listing, her communications and this place. one main issue is that there is NO AIR whatsover inside the cottage. yes, it states no AC, but does not accurately describe the TRUE situation of this hot-hell-house. the fabulous john gator [not the caretaker] the car rental guy, tried to help figure out how to get any kind of air in there. even he said it wasn’t possible as the place is located in a small dip or ‘valley’ so there is no air circulating, no cross winds through the trees & bushes, no cooling off ever. even with the fans. he also couldn’t understand the place being rented without AC. what i find insidious, is rachel insists on putting all the onus for these issues listed, on myself. the reality of it is there would be no way of me knowing how much of a lack of air there would be in this rental unit at that location. that is the real estate agents or owners job. to be truthful about the advertising and listing of one's place. it is not enough to just have the word AC crossed out on the amenities list on your page, [which is as far of a description of the place went with regards to the air circulation [or lack thereof] in the unit. i mean, it was truly is uninhabitable. we arrived in the afternoon of july 27th, and left less than 24 hours later. this listing describes it as unsuitable for dogs, so why on earth would she let a dog stay there? whenever anyone says they don't want dogs, it is understood that is because they don't want the floors scratched, any mis-behaviours inside the home, furniture chewed/jumped on/soiled or have allergies. she never said it was due to the lack of air & dangerous heat inside. in fact, she made it very clear that it was OK for me to bring my dog after i asked and mentioned that i bring covers for all the furniture, and that he is canine good citizen [CGC] and a well-trained service dog. it was so hot in there, my dog overheated. he paced & panted all night looking for cool spots to sleep. i was drenched in sweat as well. i was extremely worried about him & had to take him to the only vet on the entire island all the way in rock sound next morning. even the vet told me not to go back. other points from her listing that are not as it was in my experience: “Please have a new bottle of water...” there was a half full bottle. “wonderful Caretakers to greet you and offer vehicle rental”. no caretaker. and no vehicle offered that day. the extent of john’s duties...

  • My wife and I had a wonderful stay at the sand dollar cottage. The house was very clean and in terrific condition. We had some initial trouble with the water in the bathroom but we let the owner know and it was immediately taken care of. Just a few minutes walk to an absolutely gorgeous and mostly deserted beach. During the entire week we were there I only saw two cars drive down the road. If you want quiet and seclusion sand dollar cottage is the place for it. The cottage was surrounded by trees and brush and there were loads of migratory warblers surrounding us. We also saved a lot of money by buying groceries and cooking for ourselves in the big open kitchen. We made the walk to Pascals resort just down the road to avail ourselves of their internet and to have drinks around the amazing pool bar. We greatly enjoyed our stay at sand dollar cottage and it was my first time using air bnb. It was one of my most relaxing vacations in a long time.

Our island cottage is the quintessential place for a getaway! Located in a gated community, a small family can relax in the two bedrooms after a day of beaching. Shopping, local eateries and other conveniences are a short drive away.
The cottage can accommodate two couples or a small family. It has a main air-conditioned bedroom with queen bed and full bath with shower tiled in marble on the ground floor. Another queen bed and a half bath in the loft upstairs. Front porch and back deck with large umbrella for enjoying island breezes.
We love the QUIET of our neighborhood. It feels isolated even though conveniences - airport, food stores, restaurants, banks- are within close driving distance. One of the best things though, the nearest beach is just a short walk away - 1000 ft. (305 m)!
  • This house was nicely decorated the care taker Wayne (which was very nice ) picked us up from airport in a rental that was run down When we got to the house it was un barely hot there was only 1 fan there were 2 tvs that never worked the bikes were flat and rusted the kayaks were useless due to the beach was not a short easy walk ( my mother could not walk it) you could drive to it but no where to put kayaks once you drove to it there was another trail to the beach then steep dunes that my mom couldn't walk down I could barely There was no toilet paper thank goodness we had a roll from hotel the patio was in bad shape the lawn chairs were rusted The upstairs was a hot pit so my daughter had to stay at my brothers rental in palmetto point which we stayed also during the day I'm sorry I would never stay at this house again I would pay the extra $200 for an extremely nice place with ac and right on the beach

  • We really enjoyed our time at Juan's house. Eleuthera is incredible, and having four days on totally secluded beaches was beyond what we could've imagined in terms of the perfect vacation. Juan was also a very responsive host, letting us meet the caretaker Wayne early to check in and recommending a car rental agency that would meet our needs. (We went with Big Daddy and they were great!) The reviews of Juan's house didn't quite cover the range of pros/cons, so there were a few surprises; I've tried to outline everything for future travelers! Here's what we liked about the house itself: it's in a safe, quiet neighborhood and is about a thousand feet from a gorgeous beach on the Atlantic where we never saw another person. We honestly couldn't believe our luck with the incredible beach. The downstairs of the house is open and easy to hang out in, and the kitchen is good for basic cooking and eating -- pots, pans, dishes, etc. are all there, and we cooked every night and ate at the lovely dining table. The kitchen also has some simple amenities, like a coffee maker, blender, salt and pepper, etc. The downstairs bedroom is comfortable with a nice air conditioner and ceiling fan, and the upstairs area is very charming if a little warm. The location is about ten minutes' drive from Governor's Harbor proper, and ten minutes from the airport, so it's centrally located and a wonderful spot to set out for exploring all of Eleuthera. There's also an unpaved road at the end of the main road that's good for a morning run, or that will take you to other parts of the island along the Atlantic where you can grab a drink or some food, or explore other beaches. What we wish we'd known: the downstairs bathroom looks nice but is only mostly functional... the toilet ran almost the whole time we were there, the shower curtain fell down repeatedly, the shower's water pressure kicked on our last day, and the sink inexplicably only has a "spray" setting. There is a washer and dryer, but the washer is rusty and doesn't drain, and the dryer keeps running when you open it. The back porch probably isn't kid-safe; much of the wood looks rotten, there's some exposed tar, and lots of hornets. Another thing worth noting because you'll notice it, but which was not a problem and wasn't ultimately a "con" at all, is that there's a boarded up house next door. If you stay here, keep in mind that Eleuthera is expensive and that the house is a great deal compared to what's around. We ended up buying some essentials like toilet paper, paper towels, a dish sponge, laundry detergent, olive oil, and coffee and tried to "pay it forward" by leaving as much there as we could. Also, as others have said, you MUST have a car if you're staying here. Bottom line: I'd recommend Juan's house to anyone looking...

  • The Cozy Cottage is just that. We had everything we needed to provide a base for our time in Eleuthera. The use of the beach equipment, and Juan's car were a huge benefit to our days of beach and restaurant exploring. There were two adults in our party, but this cottage would work really well for a family with 2-3 children, also. The upstairs loft is large and functional, with a 1/2 bath up there. The open kitchen and living area are a good size and flow well. We felt that the Buccaneers Cafe was the best value for a nice sit down meal, (please say hello to Katherine the owner- from Mo and Ace); while live band night at the Beachhouse was a fun and swinging time at French Leave Beach. We recommend this Cozy Cottage. It was all it promised to be.

  • Hello, my lady friend and I stayed at Juan Gibson's property for two weeks in February 2015. We chose the Bahamas for the Ocean, the Biodiversity of the Reefs which are plentiful around Eleuthera is amazing. The house being situated within easy walking distance to both the Caribbean and Atlantic is centrally located which made our access to both the North and South ends of the Island easy. The house with its tile floors, new bedding and towels is comfortable and clean. Staying here we were grateful to have had a truly authentic Bahamian experience. Also when we ran into some unexpected trouble on the Island we were entirely blessed by our our host Juan Gibson who is a truly good, honest and trustworthy person. Juan his family, and his friends were all kind and helpful, these are good people, whom we are Thankful to for making our time on Eleuthera a Great Experience. Shane & Raemi

  • Adorable and cozy beach cottage that will make you feel at home! The car is really a plus as you need one to get around the island. The nearby beach is awesome with no one, access is very easy and really only three minutes from the cottage. Only negative point were the mosquitos that were just waiting for us to come out of the house to bite us so we couldn't enjoy to relax on the front porch. We really recommend this place to people you like nature while feeling as cozy as home, we totally loved it!

  • Juan and his housekeeper took very good care of us. The house was beautiful and well located, however it was a bit dirty and it really felt like someone else had just moved out. But overall our experience was great and the house beautiful!

    Alexandra2015-11-28T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at Juan's cottage for 12 nights in early January. For people who want to explore the length of the island, the house is almost perfectly situated midway between the top and bottom of the island making adventures to more far away places very doable. We did a lot of exploring while we were there and the house was a quiet, very peaceful place to come back to--we barely saw anyone else in the quiet, gated community where it's located the entire time we were there. Previous posters are right, you 100% need a car to stay here even if you're not going to do a lot of exploring--Governor's Harbor is a 15 minute drive away and the best beaches for swimming and snorkeling (especially for families with small children) require a car to get to, preferably one that's high off the ground so you don't lose a muffler on the rocky beach roads. Juan can help you with a recommendation, we were very happy with our rental. Fun tip is that the guy who lives next door works on cars so if you by mistake run your battery out, as we did, you've got a friendly person to assist you right next to the house! The kitchen is equipped with most everything you need to cook whatever you'd like. We came on this trip with our three-year-old and it was a great place for her to stay as well. For people who are worried about Zika, there are a few mosquitos here and the screens in the windows have holes big enough for them to get in so you might need to keep windows closed if these haven't been fixed. The house was a perfect place to come back to after our days of caving, beach exploring, and snorkeling--highly recommend it!

    Governor's Harbour, Central Eleuthera, Bahamas

Colourful cottage steps from beautiful white sand beach. Close to historical Governor's Harbour. Perfect for small family or couples. Walk to Sky Beach Resort's pool, hot tub, bar, & restaurant. Snorkel, swim, or beach comb on deserted beach.
Orchid Cottage has an open concept living area, allowing everyone to interact during meals and leisure time. The newly renovated washroom has a large walk-in shower with Bahamian shells and sea glass embedded in the floor. A matching vanity makes this a very tropical touch. All of the linens, comforters, duvets, towels, and beach towels are new. Relax on the sectional couch on the deck and listen to the waves and enjoy the breeze and swaying palm trees. The historical Bank's Road run in front of the cottage. Walk to Sky Beach Resort by road or beach and enjoy the pool, hot tub, swim-up bar, and restaurant. Walk Banana Beach for miles, go snorkelling on the reef, search for shells, swim, or sit and relax in your beach chair. Enjoy the peacefulness of this tropical Bahamian cottage.
A tropical meadow surrounds the house and cottage. There is plenty of room for children to play in the yard. A short walk from the cottage and you will follow a path to the Atlantic Ocean. Old Bank's Road is a quiet, tropical oasis that can be explored in your jeep or by foot.
