  • We absolutely loved our stay. John was so helpful and accommodating... the Home was comfy and exactly what we were looking for. We will definitely be back!!

  • All good with John a d the rental. Very thorough. Relaxing and enjoying

    Dan2016-10-23T00:00:00Z
  • We had an amazing time at this cozy little cabin on the river. We spent our time sitting outside, grilling food, watching the beavers swim by and waving at people training for the marathon! John was an AMAZING host, and even helped us in a bind when my husband needed electrical tape for the car! The cabin is perfect... it has a full kitchen, a fireplace, and a huge bay window with a view of the river. We will definitely be coming back, and will bring our Kayaks next time. Thanks John for everything :)

  • Had a great time at the cabin on the Au Sable river. John was a great host and available if needed. He sent his phone # and asked us to call when we got there both so that he knew we found the cabin and to talk to us about the property. There are a couple of different buildings available in addition to the main house including a bunk house and a standalone sauna building. The river is right out the back door and the fire pit is just to the left

    David2016-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • We absolutely loved staying at the cabin! It was great having the river right outside of our window! The cabin was extremely clean and cozy and John couldn't be any more accommodating for our family! We will definitely be coming back later! It is in a great famil friendly area. We had a dog & a 6 month old with us & it accommodated them perfectly. The fire pit was an added bonus during our time there. Next time we will have to use the sauna!

    Martha2016-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin is in a very quiet location right next to the river. Lots of space to accommodate large groups. The river view is amazing and the sauna was very handy as we had cold days while we where there. I recommend 100%

    Oswald2017-06-26T00:00:00Z
  • Huge thanks to John for hosting us at his riverfront cottage in Grayling. The place was clean, tastefully put together, and very warm on those chilly November nights. Though we did not use it, the sauna was cool. John was a great host, very easy to communicate with and fast to respond to messages. Highly recommend staying with John.

A min walk to Lake and it is very beautiful. There were kayaks in the garage even though we didn't use them. Special thanks to samara for her patience, answering all questions and for being wonderful host. We definitely recommend this place.

    Nagendra2015-08-02T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage was great. Clean with plenty of room for 2 people. Although the neighboringredients houses are close, everyone seems to respect the quiet and are not loud even with people over. We loved being able to take the kayaks to the lake without having to worry about rentals. The location is good, easy to drive to Grayling if you need anything. Definitely would love to come back if we get the chance.

  • Really nice place, quite outdated but whatever. Super close to the lake, party store, hardware store, only 5 min from Grayling.

    Kaitlin2017-07-29T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time using the house for our annual golf trip. The Lake is beautiful across the road and neighborhood is very safe and laid back. Backyard isn't anything special good enough for bags. We brought a boat which was a great move with a huge island, not over populated lake big and great for water sports we skied and tubed. House is clean only one AC unit in one bedroom upstairs, some bed frames were broke but weren't so bad you couldn't sleep on it. Great location for golf courses especially Forest Dunes.

    Luigi2016-08-08T00:00:00Z
  • Pros: Spacious house. Close to the lake. There is a public access area within walking distance and boat ramp minutes away. Was a great location for us being right in between family at a cabin on the Manistee River and the city of Grayling. Cons: Ants Right on m-72, noisy

    James2017-08-06T00:00:00Z
  • The host had the house ready; as the ad said, there was no personal contact with him, but he replied in a timely manner to email messages. The house was prepared for our visit and met our expectations. The neighborhood, as might be expected, seems to be of vacation homes mostly, or, I suspect, of retirees who are living there for the season.

    Jim2015-08-09T00:00:00Z
  • The house is very dated and could use an update. The location is great but I think it is a little pricey for the area during off season.

  • A rustic cabin on the scenic Au Sable. It's a shame my stay was cut short due to a family emergency. Can't wait to go back for a proper visit.

  • The cabin was clean, directly adjacent to the river, and full of character. Michael was very communicative and helpful regarding questions about the area. For fisherman, this is a base camp. You'll need to drive south east 15 to 20 minutes to get to the south branch or mainbranch.

  • The cabin is cozy and clean. It was a bit difficult to find, as the GPS isn't up to date, but it looks just like the pictures provided! I didn't have cell service, so I couldn't contact the host-- but the instructions left were clear and helpful :) Beautiful view of the river!

  • What a great little cabin! My wife and I went up for our one year anniversary. It was unexpectedly cold and snowy, which was perfect for the beautiful little location that we found ourselves in at the cabin. It was a small cabin so the small heater that was in there heated up fairly quickly. It wasn't a five-star resort but for the price and the location, It really was a good deal. I would recommend it to anyone who needs a small place to stay right on the river.

    Dane2015-10-17T00:00:00Z
  • Great cabin to stay at! We had no problems with the location or the cabin! It's close enough to grayling for kayaking or dining or whatever you choose to do. Michael is a great host & the place was stocked good! We would definitely rent this place again!

The view of the Au Sable is often wide in the winter and narrow in the summer due to the leaves on the many trees surrounding the cottage. The walkway down to the Au Sable has an incline. The cabin offers the fishermen, hunters, hikers, golfers, ATVers, snowmobilers, or a small family, a clean, comfortable, affordable place to stay with outdoor activities right outside your door! The location offers privacy, yet is only a few miles to Grayling or Gaylord, Michigan.  It's the perfect place to spend a weekend or week.    With a full kitchen, you can cook a great meal, catch your favorite shows with the cable service on the large flat screen TV, and enjoy the Wi-Fi available as well. The full bath ensures a hot shower after a day on the river or hiking in the woods. There is a queen bed in the main bedroom, built in bunks in the hall that kids adore (the 2nd sleeping area) and a futon in the living room. Enjoy sitting on the patio with your cup of joe or grilling dinner while you catch glimpses of the river down the hill. At night, gaze upon the stars at the fire pit area.   Enjoy the river right outside your door. Walk out to the river to cast your rod or set your canoe or kayak on the Headwaters of the Au Sable– known as the Blue Ribbon trout stream. Try your luck at the 'Holy Waters' in Grayling or the Manistee River down the road just 4 miles from the cabin. If golf is your activity, the cabin is only minutes from the award winning golf courses in Grayling, Gaylord and Shanty Creek.     In the wintertime, snowmobilers will enjoy the miles of state trails nearby (half a mile-‐see photo) as well as the legendary “Swamp III & Frederic Inn” located down the road- walking distance. If you enjoy downhill or cross country skiing, we have nearby Hanson Hills (Grayling), Treetops (Gaylord), Shanty Creek and Boyne. If the family wants to go tubing, Hanson Hills offers both day and night service.   With “one of the best” state parks only 9 miles away, Hartwick Pines State Park, offers scheduled events and activities year round. Winding through a gently contoured wooded landscape from its freestone headwaters north of Fredric to its frequently impounded tail stretch funneling into Lake Huron, the river is large and varies greatly in size and characteristics along its length. On the Au Sable, one can expect a healthy dose of small to medium-sized rainbows, browns, and brookies, with the chance of tying into a football-sized brown -- not to mention the healthy influx from Lake Huron's most important steelhead run.  The Black Bear Lodge is at the headwaters of the Au Sable River. (Fredrick to Grayling) The headwaters of the Au Sable, just north of Frederic, mark the beginning of a nearly 80-mile stretch of blue-ribbon trout water. These waters are classic American freestone in nature, clear and gravel-bottomed, dominated by brookies with the occasional brown. Pressure along this 13-mile stretch from Fredrick down to Grayling is minimal thanks to other local freestone attractions and limited access.  At Grayling, the river bends eastward towards its Lake Huron descent. Just below, the East Branch injects a welcome shot of cold water. Unfortunately, both sun-wilted humans and trout alike revel in fresh, cold river water making the fabled fishing town of Grayling a haven for canoeists and water fanatics. Luckily, the trout have grown accustomed to the ruckus and success can be easily achieved in this area. Internet/WiFi:  Technically, there is WiFi at the cabin, yet it is temperamental, so we do not consider it one of the amenities. It is a bonus if you are able to connect consistently.  We are unable to receive a consistent, strong signal at this point. We are working on improving the system.  Restaurant/Bar: The Frederic Inn is less than a mile from the cabin.  fredericinn.com View: The view of the river can be limited in the summer with the dense trees surrounding the riverside of the cabin.  It is clear in the winter since the leaves have fallen. The view is absolutely gorgeous in the fall with the leaves changing colros.

  • Cabin was very clean and relatively easy to find. Great views and stocked well with basic amenities such as coffee, sugar, paper plates, etc. Beautiful place to relax and unwind. Hosts were courteous and quick with responses. Thanks again!!

  • Cabin is cute and situated right along the river. Kitchen had everything necessary for cooking. Living room has beautiful windows and view. Just one note the bedroom and bathroom are very small but adequate. It is located in Frederic and only place to eat was the Frederic inn/bar unless you drive about 15 minutes to Grayling. We went to store and cooked at cabin so worked fine. I would return again.

  • Craig is an outstanding host, my family and I enjoyed his secluded cabin over the Labor Day weekend. We highly recommend!

    Brian2017-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • Great cabin in the woods with beautiful property to walk on. All the comforts of home. A wonderful porch to sit on and enjoy nature. We loved the seclusion but it is close to Grayling and lots of outdoor activities. A great host who communicated well and answered our questions!

    Candy2017-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect centrally-located haven in the woods. Very spacious but still totally cozy for 2 up to 6 People. Probably more. Awesome little trail out back. Super close to two rivers and many quaint little towns. An hour away from Sleeping Bear. All the feel of a rustic cabin but all the comforts of a hotel room.

    Daniel2017-10-30T00:00:00Z
  • Had a fantastic stay here! Beautiful and secluded property, very cozy interior with space to work, cook, spend time with friends, etc. Had a very minor problem one morning and Craig was extremely responsive + helpful in sorting it all out — he's a great host! Certainly hope to be back soon.

    Elliot2017-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • I was able to find Craig's place at the last moment. This is the first time I have been to Grayling area. It couldn't have been a better experience. Craig's cabin is cozy and secluded even though it's only 15-20 minutes from Grayling downotwn. Kitchen was stocked with all the utensils needed to have a good meal. Backyard is so beautiful with beautiful trees and a good place to admire with fire in the evening. We will certainly be back.

    Max2017-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • This is a stunning place! Extremely peaceful and relaxing and the perfect getaway! Craig was a very good host as well and very friendly!

    Brandi2017-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • A gem.

    Maziel2017-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin is tucked away in the woods with no other properties in sight. If you're a nature lover, I would highly recommend this place. There are a lot of ORV trails nearby and the driver to Grayling is only about 15 min if you need anything. The property is surrounded by state land. It is very peaceful and serene which is just what I needed for this getaway. I will likely be back to this property in the future.

Retreat Center at Camp Westminster! Our year-round retreat center sleeps 34, has a kitchen, dining and living room, great room. Three rooms with bunks and one with a double bed and bunk bed. Camp Westminster is on 40 acres of beautiful Higgins Lake lakefront property surrounded by acres of state forests and has too many amenities to mention (see detailed description). Great place for your family reunion or retreat group.
  • An awesome place with a lot of beds, perfect for a retreat with a decently large group. The guys and I were very impressed by the facility. Was nice and spacious inside and had a lot of utensils to use in the kitchen! An awesome place to go! Highly recommend.

    Mark2017-04-02T00:00:00Z
  • The property was amazing and Suzanne was super responsive! So many things to do: rock wall, basketball court, volleyball court, you name it, they probably have it.

  • This is a beautiful property, will definitely come again

  • Worthington Lodge is great! We had 22 guys here for a men's retreat. The space was perfect and the location was great too. We loved the fireplace it out back, the huge deck and the meeting space. Wht we couldn't get over was how well stocked the place was with everything. From paper towels to fire wood, we were we'll taken care of. Suzanne was super responsive and easy to work with. We plan to be back in the future.

    Benjamin2017-04-23T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect. Excellent location on a gorgeous piece of property. Very clean, very convenient location with an excellent host. We will be back.

    Michael2017-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • We come to Higgins lake area at least once a year to ice fish. We have grown over the years to 10 people and this home fit with extra room! Suzanne is very nice and helpful. This is by far the best place we've rented.

    Jon2017-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • This retreat center was perfect for holding our teen winter retreat. Students enjoyed it so much that they requested that we make this our new winter retreat tradition. One end of the cabin provides a great place for people to sit and visit or play games and the other side of the cabin is perfect as an all-purpose area. It was the ideal layout for a group like ours. The all-purpose room quickly transforms from a dining area into a beautiful sanctuary in only a few minutes. The ladies side of the cabin provides more bunks than the guys and comes with a lot more bathroom space. This is not to say that guys side was short on bathroom space, but the girls were extremely pleased by all the space they had. It should be known that there were 10 beds in the guys bunk area...13 if you count the private room that sits on the guys side. This means there are 20 beds on the girls side. This might complicate matters for a group that wants to use the cabin but happens to have 16 boys and 16 girls. It didn't create a problem for us, but people should be aware.

  • Destination Grayling!! Mary was an absolutely amazing host! She was very accommodating and responsive. Mary provided a truly unique and memorable experience. The setting was more than idyllic. It was a very quiet location right on a beautiful bend in the AuSable River. It was a short drive from town, which is as far as we made it, but there are many destinations in the area. We will definitely be back!

    Maureen2017-07-30T00:00:00Z
  • Mary was a great communicator who responded promptly to all of our questions. Unfortunately a change in schedule precluded us from staying at her place on the river. Hopefully next time!

    Heather and Bob2017-06-03T00:00:00Z
  • Mary was very hospitable. Her AirBnB description and the reviews could not do justice to her home's beauty. It is a great place for a quiet weekend away. We loved the breakfast provided by Mary, her tea options, and being able to use her kayaks right in her backyard. We would definitely come again.

    Luke2017-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful home on a great piece of property. Beautiful grounds situated on a lovely bend of the Au Sable that is only 5min outside of Grayling. Mary was unbelievably gracious and kind throughout our stay, and her two new Portuguese Water Dog puppies couldn't have been sweeter. I would highly recommend this for anyone looking to enjoy river.

    Mark2017-09-10T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great place - in a great area - hosted by a great person. What more could you ask for? My wife and I celebrated our 28th anniversary with Mary and the Au Sable River. This was a trip that we will never forget. Grayling is only a few short miles away and for a small town has a good selection of restaurants and breweries. You are also within striking distance of Traverse City, Mackinaw, etc. Or maybe - just relax and watch the river with a bottle wine...

  • An incredibly perfect spot for our July 4th holiday, peaceful and right on the river. We didn't do much but fly fish and lay around, but tons of activities on the river and around for those with more ambition.

    Josh2016-07-05T00:00:00Z
  • This place is a treasure. The cabin not only lives up to all expectations set by the pictures but goes on to exceed them. We stayed with friends for a weekend and everyone gushed about the beautiful location. The cabin has enough comfortable sleeping quarters for a group of friends or a family and though the kitchen and bathrooms are small they are really well maintained and everything works great. The Saputos are so helpful. They made themselves very available and communication was easy and quick. We're already talking about our plans to return next summer. Thanks for a great time!

    Tina and Marco2015-07-20T00:00:00Z
  • The location and cabin has total wow factor when you pull in the drive. It's right on a river bend and is perfect for fishing.

    Timothy2017-06-18T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin is the most beautiful cabin I have ever seen. I loved how the property is very private and quiet. William stopped by and greeted us in a very respectful and friendly way with his two beautiful dogs. Cabin was clean and all the amenities were provided. I can't wait till next summer because I will definitely rent it again with my family.
