The whole cottage and the field and river behind the cottage. Approximately a one mile walk into the village of Great Ayton. Guests are responsible for their own and their children's safety at all times.

  • Our second time at Caroline's cottage and it wont be our last, a wonderful place in great rural location that we were lucky to find available as it is understandably very popular. A highly recommended place to stay with a perfect host!

  • We can only confirm what previous guests have already said The cottage is lovely and although very spacious it's warm, cosy, clean, comfortable and very well equipped The bed and pillows deserve a special mention as they were extremely comfortable we both slept soundly which is unusual away from home The location is perfect for either short or more demanding walks The atmosphere and greeting on arrival was very welcoming and the breakfast pack which included free-range eggs from the very friendly hens was perfect We didn't want to leave and have already booked a return visit with our granddaughter Thank you Catherine and Keith

  • Caroline was in touch before we set off and there to greet us when we arrived. The accomodation was warm, clean and comfortable. The shower was great, the bed comfortable and the kitchen really well equipped. The photos do not do it justice. It is in a good location halfway between the pretty towns of Stokesley and Great Ayton.

On working dairy farm this cosy wooden chalet offers, a fully equipped kitchen with oven and hob, fridge with small freezer compartment. Flat screen TV, sofa, dining table and chairs. King sized bed, good sized wardrobe and en-suite shower room.
This is a small but perfectly formed chalet with plenty of space to do your own thing cooking etc. It also has a private outside space with seating area.
As this is a dairy farm you don't have a lot of neighbours's. The cows are often outside the windows. There is a beautiful uninterrupted view of the hills from the living area
  • Loved our 2 nights here, chalet is immaculate and has everything you need, and the location is beautiful with the moors right on your doorstep. Hosts are brilliant and had even got in milk, bread, tea, coffee and orange juice for when we arrived. Would definitely come again!

  • My husband and I enjoyed our time at the Cote House Chalet. The setting on the family farm was very refreshing and off the beaten path. We especially enjoyed the beautiful views and a chance to hike in the mountains overlooking the farm.

  • The cabin was exactly as described, warm and comfortable and the milk and bread were very welcome. Nicki was very friendly and kindly lent me her mobile when I couldn't get a signal. The location is perfect for walking, lots of paths from the door and the views from the cabin are stunning. Hope to be back!

    Bridget2015-09-27T00:00:00Z
  • In a rural area close north yorkshire moors. Plenty of footpaths directly from Chalet, villages and pubs close by.

    Rebecca2015-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • This is a lovely little chalet. It is well equipped, very attractively decorated and was super warm despite the snow outside. Nick was very friendly and helpful and had even provided bread, milk etc. The area around the farm is lovely and despite the rural setting has good access to shops and pubs in Carlton and Stokesley.

    Janet2016-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay was very comfortable and peaceful. Didn't see much of Nick, but when we did he was very friendly and approachable and actually called me when we were nearby so we would know how to find the chalet and get inside. Once inside though, things were fantastic. Nick had left us some bread, milk, butter and orange juice which I thought was a very nice touch. Seriously considering another stay here at some point.

  • A wonderful space for 7 of us to spread out. There was ample space for us 4 adults and 3 children to run around. The front windows didnt keep out noise from the street , but its not a particularly busy road for pedestrians or traffic. Very comfortable with all the facilities and appliances that we could ask for. David was great at answering all questions promptly and Roz was so helpful meeting and greeting us at the property.

  • David's is house was a real home from home for us, made all the more enjoyable by the fact David is an amazing host. He went out his way to make us feel welcome. We really couldn't have asked for more. The house has everything you need. It's warm (we stayed in December) and very, very comfortable. We're planning to get back to the UK sometime in January/February 2018, and will definitely plan it around the availability of David's house. Huge thanks to him for helping to make our stay all the more enjoyable. For anyone thinking of booking it, DO IT! You won't be disappointed.

  • Mill Farm is a great place to stay. It is not far from the coastal town of Whitby, a good stepping off point for the Yorkshire moors and an easy drive from the Yorkshire dales. The rooms are huge, all tastefully furnished and the bathrooms sparking clean and new as well. The hosts went out of their way to make my stay comfortable from massive breakfasts to bottles of water each day in my room. Great Ayton is a quaint village, good pubs and friendly. You must give Mill Farm a visit. You won't be disappointed. One of the best I have stayed in during my travels around the UK.

  • Stokesly is a neat and interesting village to stay in with plenty of eateries and other shops. Dave was always in contact with us, very helpful. His friendly aunt met us and showed us around. Though the house is on the main road, (close to centre of village) once the door is closed, it feels quiet and peaceful. It is a spacious and very well equipped home, and we had a good evening and a much-needed sleep. Heartily recommended - and very good value. Even better than the photos and description!

  • David's room was beautiful, just what I needed for a short stay in Stokesley, and very conveniently located - it's just on the end of the high street, less than two minutes to walk onto it, with a Co-op supermarket containing a post office just ten minutes down the road. There's also a pub and deli just across the road and loads of takeaway places nearby so you'll never run out of food. The room was lovely, cosy, and well-lit in the day, and very quiet on that side on the house even though it's by the road. Everything was very clean and the bathroom is furnished with a whole variety of toiletries for guest use. There was also food in the refrigerator which David very kindly let me know I was free to use. I did not meet David unfortunately, but nonetheless he and his aunt went above and beyond to welcome me, offering to introduce me to some friends in the town and his aunt offering to come over when she could if I only rang her, or to have me over for a cup of tea, as they were concerned I might be lonely as I had the whole cottage to myself during my stay. They were kind in the extreme and could not have been friendlier, and both were very quick to respond and easy to communicate with. I would highly recommend staying here and would be more than glad to be back again whenever I'm in the area and if the room is still available!

With its real log fire and period features this 1890 miners terraced house offers all the coziness you could want. It is compact but it has everything you should need for a comfortable stay including one of the comfiest beds I've ever slept in and I stand by that! It is my actual home the rest of the time so has everything you'd need for a comfortable stay - not just the basics in a rental, but it does mean the house is lived in, so although it will be clear for you, the cupboards will be full.
This cozy house has easy access to the moors and to local amenities such as pubs, coffee shops and independent shops. With period features this house has plenty of character and quirks. It is situated on a private road with no through access so is incredibly quiet, safe and friendly. It is narrow so those who are nervous drivers may prefer to park on the main road about 65m away. This house will meet the requirements of enthusiastic bikers, older families or couples looking for a break in the countryside. It is an old house so does have relatively narrow, steep stairs - 2 flights to the attic room which is just something to consider if you have any medical conditions or younger children. I have yet to meet anyone who's struggled with them, it is only in case of knee or mobility difficulties etc.
With this house it is the location that makes it. Although my house is just in a residential area at the edge of the village in a normal street, you are only a 10 min walk from the village centre. Great Ayton is a beautiful village with 2 village greens, a famous pie shop and a famous ice cream shop. It has just today (24th of July) been shortlisted for 'Best Village 2017' by Channel 4 who are here filming for it this week. The house is on outskirts of the village closer to the hills, in a normal residential area but it's only 10 min walk to the picturesque village centre. It has multiple cafes, restaurants and pubs within 10 minute walk (12 if you dawdle) with bigger market towns 5/10 minutes drive in either direction offering a great selection of alternatives. It's also the boyhood home of Captain Cook so there's plenty for the history buffs too. The River Leven runs through the village and has some nice gentle walks past it. For those seeking more active pastimes, the area is renowned for its mountain biking routes or for walking. The landmark 'Roseberry Topping' is a brisk hour walk to the top (stamina permitting). Whitby is also about 20-25 min drive away.
  • The house is small but no les lovely for being compact. We arrived to a welcome bottle of wine, chocolates, milk and some bread which was very thoughtful. There were also useful notes and a folder with information about the house and the local area. It was spotlessly clean and very comfortable. The only difficulty we had was with the parking. The road is quite narrow.

  • Rhiannon's cottage is absolutely lovely. She was great at communicating about check in and asking if we needed any advice or recommendations about the area. The place itself was clean and beautifully decorated - Rhiannon has lots of amazing photos from her travels dotted around. Everything was provided, including food and toiletries and we had a very enjoyable and relaxing time there.

    Laura2017-08-03T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fantastic stay at Rhiannon's house. It was super tidy and had everything you could possibly need while you're away. It was great being able to bring our dog along with us too. Great Ayton is in easy reach of several bigger towns but does have a Co-op if you need, and there are two dog-friendly pubs within a five-minute drive. We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to anyone wanting a quiet few days away.

  • Lovely cosy cottage. Very clean throughout. Rhiannon has lovely thoughtful touches, bottle of wine on arrival, folder with lots of local info and maps with ideas for walking. Comfy beds, towels provided. Instructions for getting in and departing very precise. Very pleasurable experience for our first taster of airbnb.

    Christine2018-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Rhiannon was the perfect host in providing us with all the information we needed before and during our stay. The house is gorgeous - a true home from home. But perhaps better! The beds were so comfy. Everything in the house easy to find and use. The perfect location for all our trips out. I can't recommend it enough

    Gabriella2017-07-29T00:00:00Z
  • This was our first time in an Airbnb home and we were delighted. Rhiannon was helpful and communication with her prior to arrival was excellent. Her home is delightfully quirky and we loved her style and decor. The beds were comfortable and she had left lots of little notes and a guest book explaining how things worked so we had no problems whatsoever. She had also left out little welcome gifts. We had to park on the main road once or twice during our stay as the road that the house is situated on is a little narrow, but it isn't far and didn't cause any inconvenience. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend this host and property. All in all a very positive experience.

  • House is as described in the description. Lovely neighbours and in a quiet location on the outskirts of the village. Everything you could want from pubs to a local convience store all within a short walk. The house is comfortable and has everything you could possibly want. Rhiannon is a lovely host and communication with her was excellent at all times. We look forward to another stay in the future.

    Helen2017-04-14T00:00:00Z
  • Rhiannon’s house is pretty much perfect! With it being her own house it is fully equipped - we especially enjoyed having sharp knives and good quality pans! It is very comfortable and cosy and wonderfully decorated with photos. It is bigger than the photos imply and we managed to easily fit our toddlers travel cot in the seating area on the first floor. The dart board in the kitchen was a bonus too! Thanks to Rhiannon for a superb stay!

  • Lovely house in a small village. We were able to buy everything we needed at the shops which were only a few meters away. Plenty of bedrooms to spread out. For those interested in history the Caption Cook School museum is across the road. We could have stayed much longer here if we had the time.

  • This is a lovely peaceful house in a wonderful location. Just what our family needed. It is very well equipped and the welcome pack included bread from the local bakery which is only a minute away. It is very close to a late opening co-op store and the food in the local pub was great. We will certainly come back when we're in the area.

With its real log fire and period features this 1890 miners terraced house offers all the coziness you could want. I claim it to be one of the comfiest beds I've ever slept in and stand by that! It is the area that makes this place though in its North Yorkshire location whilst also not being too far from most travel hubs.
Loft conversion with your own separate lounge area to relax if you want some privacy or to do some work. There is a small TV up there (20"), sofa etc. It's a split level area so the bedroom upstairs with the sitting area downstairs. The loft conversion has the comfiest bed I've ever slept in. There are 2 flights of stairs to navigate as it is the loft room - just as a note if anyone has any medical conditions (or fear of heights maybe?!) that might be worth considering.

  • Really great communication in advance, clear instructions for finding everything. The house itself is lovely and the bed is as promised amazingly comfy. Rhiannon made me feel very welcome and looked after. I would heartily recommend staying here and hope to be back.

  • Rhiannon was a great host, nothing was too much trouble even though our booking was very last minute and we checked in late. It was a shame our stay was so short, we will definitely look Rhiannon up next time we are in the area as it would've been nice to get to chat more. The cottage is lovely with loads of character and the room was very comfortable. Dusty the dog is a super cute bonus too <B Highly recommended place to stay in a beautiful area, thanks again Rhiannon and Dusty :)

  • Accommodation in Great Ayton is limited and I needed somewhere to stay to attend my works Xmas party. This was ideal, I arrived at 17.30 and had no trouble finding the keys. The house is an old terraced property with a loft room. Which was my room for the evening. Weather had been particularly cold so the house was too but it soon warmed up. Ideal spot for a bit of walking in the north York moors if you're inclined. Highly recommended.

Contemporary living in a delightfully modernised cottage in Carlton in Cleveland, a beautiful quiet village in the North Yorks Moors National Park. There is a great pub serving very good food and a variety of real ales, only a two minute walk away
This space is the ground floor area of our Annexe with a bedroom, kitchen/diner and shower room/toilet. Lovely and warm with very effective and controllable central heating. The very comfortable double bed can be changed into 2 x Singles if requested in advance. We live in a beautiful and peaceful village The cottage was originally built in about 1750 but is now fully fitted to a contemporary, modern and high standard.
This is a beautiful part of North Yorkshire, in the North York Moors National Park and also in a Conservation area. Nearby is The Blackwell Ox pub that is a great local pub serving great food and real ales. The staff are very friendly and we are fortunate to have such a good local pub! At the top of Carlton Bank is the Lord Stones Country Park where they serve great steaks in The Belted Bull. There are other really good pubs serving good food locally including the superb Golden Lion at Osmotherley that is about 10 minutes drive from here. There are very good shops in the nearby market town of Stokesley that is less than 4 miles away with butchers, bakers, banks, coffee shops, bars, restaurants and many small independent shops. A fantastic location for walking, cycling or just as a base to tour the Moors or pop down to the coast - Whitby is only a 40 minute drive. York is about an hour away as well as Leeds and Newcastle.
  • Both John and Amanda were incredibly welcoming and made us feel right at home, the property is just lovely and came kitted out with everything you would expect and so much more! Amanda even made some lovely shortbread for our arrival which was delicious! The property is lovely and like a home away from home, I will be reccomending to friends and family and will hope to be back in the future.

  • We had a wonderful weekend stay at John and Amanda's cottage in Swainby. Everything we needed and the village was lovely with plenty of good walking from the front door. John was particularly helpful in allowing us to stay in the cottage when our original property selection was unavailable.

  • What a most wonderful place to stay for a short break. The place was so tastefully decorated & renovated. There was everything we needed & the little touches of milk, juice, croissants & homemade chocolate brownies to die for were so thoughtful.thank you ❤️ We love walking so there was plenty to keep us busy in the area even in the snow!! We loved hearing the church bells chiming & the local pub offered a fantastic menu - Thai food was wonderful! We will be back for sure! All the best for 2018!

  • Stayed for New Year's Eve and wish we had booked for a longer stay. Loved the feeling of the property, especially the stone floors in the kitchen and bathroom and the clean lines of the bedroom. It is a truly remarkable experience in traditional british country house with Georgian period furnishing and real fireplaces, elegant landscape viewing over woods-top and excellent position-easily drive to historic town and places nearby. • We were welcomed to a spotlessly clean room and were very well located for our trip to the moors.

  • What a delightful experience. Peizdhu and her partner were so very attentive and helpful. The room was super and breakfast was too much - we had to ask for less than was offered. Couldn't recommend it more highly. We will be back! The entrance road isn't signposted but the building was obvious, approaching from the south, and it is on the edge of town so was easy to find. We were very surprised to find a 'stairlift' to the top floor. This solves what is often a problem with elderly or part disabled persons but I don't think it was publicised on the listing.

  • Peizhu made us very welcome and we had a very pleasant and comfortable stay. The location is within 5 minutes walk of Great Ayton and an ideal base for walking.

  • I was very pleased to be the fist guest to stay at this lovely, family run B&B in the idyllic village of Great Ayton. The hosts were very welcoming, friendly and helpful. My room had a great view looking out over fields and was clean and cozy. They recommend a local pub for my evening meal, which did not disappoint and also cooked me a delicious English breakfast. I would definitely return in the future!

  • The hosts are determined to provide everything you could possibly need. I would recommend this without hesitation. Thank you so much

  • Peizhu is the perfect host, and together with her husband Graeme made our two night stay very enjoyable. Nothing is too much trouble for them. Our room was immaculate, and the choice of fruit to go with our breakfast incredible. We have been to so called 5 star hotels that were not as good, and a lot more expensive A definite yes for when we stay in the area in future

A small double room in a 4-bed cottage in the picturesque village of Stokesley, North Yorkshire.
This is a small quiet room with a double bed. There is no wardrobe or cupboard space but there are some hangers on the rear of the door. A large bright window overlooking the rear of the property. 2 other doubles and another single are available within the same cottage.
This historic Georgian market town has stunning views of the Cleveland Hills and is situated on the River Leven, with College Square at one end and West Green at the other. The cobbled high street is bustling with individual shops, restaurants, public houses and cafes. In addition to a weekly market and a monthly farmers market, Stokesley plays host to the annual agricultural show. The town also has a library, health centre and hotel. Leisure amenities include: cricket and football pitches, golfing range, leisure centre with swimming pool, art society, film club and gardening club.
  • David's place is great, exactly as advertised but also as a host David was exceptional, went out of his way to ensure I felt at home and provided some great insight into what to do locally, one of the best airbnb experiences I've enjoyed

  • This is a very old home that is full of charm and yet at the same time, is modern, spacious and has everything that you would need for your stay and the description matches what you get. You can walk to the Town centre within minutes and it has all the shops that you need and this includes a Co-op and I liked it because it has a Costa. The room is a good size and the bed was comfortable and the only downside is that there are no wardrobes, but this did not bother me. The bathroom is large and has a shower and warm water was always available. Please note that there is no working lock on the door. The kitchen is great and has everything that you would need and a large fridge with ice/water dispenser. The home is very clean and tidy and although Dave is away during the week, his Aunt is available to call. Dave is a very hospitable and proud host who will look after all of your needs and beyond what is required of a host and he took me and another Guest to the pub that is about 20 feet away for drinks and introduced us to Locals. I would recommend this home to anyone, who wants a break in a spacious and old home. I will be back at some stage to saviour the peace that you get with countryside living.
