Beach
“AKA Cathedral Cove. It is just such a beautiful place! Depending on your taste, in high summer the number of people can be overwhelming! My suggestion is that you get up early to beat the buses which start at about 9am. Sunrise is even better, and the swimming is great, even when you think that it's too cold, give it a go and the water clarity can be magic! The track is a highway from start to finish but you will need to be able to walk for 40 mins each way comfortably. If you balk at that, take the water taxi!”

Park
“It's one of the must visit places in NZ and only accessible by foot, kayak or boat. And so fabulous, also SO busy - consider a dawn raid :-) Or try Lonely Bay for a similar but more low key experience. Cathedral Cove Park and Ride is available from the Hahei Visitor car park (on the right as you enter Hahei). It only costs $5 return per person, $3 for a child and $10 for a family (2 adults 2 children). It is recommended that all visitors to Hahei Beach and Cathedral Cove use this car park. Visitors can choose to walk from the North end of Hahei Beach to Cathedral Cove, this track adds another 25 minutes to the walk. Parking is prohibited at Grange Rd from the 1 October - 30 April.”

Beach
“Hot Water Beach is famous for the lovely hot water that you can sit in at low tide (make sure to get your spot about 1/2 to 1 hour earlier. Take our loaned out spades, and a bucket (to add cooler water) and start digging in the sand to make your own soaking pool. Remember to take a hat, beach towel, sunscreen and plenty of water and nibbles. Dig, soak and enjoy.”

Coffee Shop
“Hotties is located at Hot Water Beach, and has a wonderful view for dining and the best wine list around. Pay attention to their signage as the entrance to the restaurant isn’t easy to spot. They are a wonderful find, with exceptional food and a wine list you will find difficult to top in the Coromandel. If you are not into lunch, they also serve great coffee and good souvenirs. ”
