“Step into a world where butterflies alight on your shoulder. Where birds of prey steal your gaze. And the stress of your daily routine melts into a sea of vibrant azaleas. Where you stumble upon charming stone chapels. And listen to the chirps of woodland birds as you stroll past fragrant blossoms and pine trees. Callaway Gardens brims as much with history as it does with flora and fauna, inviting you to explore, learn, and take in both a rich past and the wonders of nature at your own pace. Come for a visit – the air is different out here."”

Park
“FDR State Park is a great place to hike with 23 miles of trails around and atop of the Pine Mt. Ridge. FDR enjoyed the scenery and views from Dowells Knob lookout. Not only is there hiking but also primitive and RV camping, swimming, horseback riding, cottages to stay in, and group cottages. Many of the cottages and other park buildings, the registration/welcome center on Hwy 190, and the bridge on Hwy 190 were built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s. It is Georgia's largest state park consisting of 9,049 acres. Ask about hiking to the small waterfalls at the Welcome center.”

“Hole in the wall is an adequate description of the Oyster House. Don't be fooled, as the food is fantastic. As with most southern seafood places, the majority of the food here is fried. However, many of the dishes only have light breading. The portions are large, the service is good, and the food is excellent.”
