Lovely two bedroom chalet within walking distance of Dovercourt beach and leisure centre. Quiet and friendly location. The chalet has two bedrooms (one with a single bed and one with a double futon bed) as well as a living area with two sofas, one of which is a sofa bed, a small kitchen area and bathroom with a shower. There is a TV with freeview channels at the property.
  • Victoria was lovely and made us very welcomed and the little touches like the candles , coffee and fresh bread made the next morning a whole lot easier! The chalet is perfect location and decorated in a really cool quirkiness ... a few minutes walk to the beach and a 10 minuet walk to the town. Would highly recommend and will definitely be back !! Thank you

  • Place is super cute & cozy! The kitchen has everything to eat in, a brilliant filter coffee machine and a massive TV for chilling out with a movie after a big day out. Victoria was great with accommodating me in a very last minute same day booking & answering all my questions when I wasn't sure about location & access as I was arriving late from the ferry in Harwich and was on foot. I was pleasantly surprised by a few treats that were above and beyond that contributed to a very short yet enjoyable 1st visit to the area. I highly recommend the location, even though it is a little off the beaten path, it is that which makes it so relaxing. If possible I suggest arriving with some basics for food/drink from "town" if arriving late by train (there is night market close to the station). There is little to no bus service in the area nor anywhere to rent bikes, however it is a very pleasant but long walk to the cottage. There is a fish & chip shop open late less than a 5 min walk away, and a breakfast/lunch place also very close by. The beach is less than 5/10 min walk. I loved it.

  • Lovely little chalet, perfect for a few days. It's situated with about 10 other chalets around a communal lawn, as well as having its own private lawn. There's a kitchen complete with crockery and cutlery, washing machine, coffee machine and a fridge complete with some essentials (chocolate biscuits!). There are two comfy sofas in the lounge (one a sofabed) and a massive telly. One bedroom has a single bed and the other a double futon which is surprisingly comfortable. The radiators are very effective but ask Victoria to show you how they work. Bring slippers as the smart tiled floor can be a little chilly. A ten minute walk brings you to the seaside, and you can walk all the way to the harbour. We'd recommend the Hanover for lunch. There are a couple of local supermarkets and a high street with all the shops you could need. Thanks for a lovely stay!

  • Chalet perfect for our stay - really close to the beach (10 minute walk). Nicely done inside and homely feel - would stay again if down this way! Host replies quickly and is easy to get hold of - understanding about delays on check in time. Great stay, thank you.

  • Victoria was there to greet us when we arrived and showed us to the chalet. She is also very prompt to reply if you need to contact her. The chalet is situated amongst several others in a quiet area with friendly neighbours. It is a nice area with parks, beaches, places to eat, supermarkets etc all very close by. We enjoyed our stay and would definitely consider coming back again.

  • Great place for a family trip away - good location to use as a base when visiting clacton/Felixstowe/colchester. Morrison’s was really close for getting supplies along with other shops and a dominoes if you arrive later like us.

    Eliza2018-05-07T00:00:00Z
  • Victoria’s chalet was such a lovely weekend getaway. The beach is so close and really lovely - we swam there both days. The chalet park is wonderful and peaceful - the neighbours are super friendly too. Victoria was lightning quick with all her responses. We spent a lot of our time relaxing in the garden around the chalet and enjoying the beaches and local area. We really did have a great time. Thanks Victoria!

Beautiful quirky cottage with a sea view in the peaceful town of Harwich. Original features throughout, with an open fire place and stunning decor, a truly special place to spend time away.
The property has a cosy living room with open fire, and a dining room which also doubles up as an area to relax in. The kitchen is fitted with all white goods and amenities, and there is a downstairs bathroom with bath/shower unit off from this room. Upstairs, there are two double bedrooms. The master room has a king sized bed which can be separated into two single beds on request. The second bedroom is a standard double. There is also a small dressing room space to utilise here too. There is a courtyard at the rear of the cottage.
Only a short walk (around 5 minutes) to the award winnning Harwich Beach. The cottage is situated just off Harwich Town Centre with a host of shops, restaurants, and cafes.
  • Georgia’s cottage is superbly with stunning views over bathside bay. The cottage is gorgeously decorated and immaculate. Lovely little touches make this a must recommend. Look forward to returning soon!

  • Spent a night in this beautiful cottage and didn’t want to leave. The perfect getaway! Beach is just a few minutes walk and the welcome pack provided a nice breakfast. Would definitely recommend and want to come again.

  • It is an outstanding cottage - hidden away and not too far to the beach

  • A beautifully appointed house, in a lovely location. With care and forethought about making your stay comfortable.

    David2018-07-25T00:00:00Z
  • We absolutely loved staying at this gorgeous cottage and couldn't fault it. We only stayed one night but would have loved to have stayed longer. The decor of the entire house is tastefully vintage, elegant, incredibly comfortable and spotlessly clean. There are two great outdoor spaces, the front garden has a great view looking over the port and sailing boats. The back garden is a beautiful quaint little courtyard filled with potted plants, which is great suntrap in the mornings to have breakfast in. We had a loaf of bread, fresh eggs, jam and butter provided for us, as well as towels and toiletries. We loved staying here and would definately look to rebook it if we were in the area, we cant recommend it enough!!

    Ramon2018-07-01T00:00:00Z
  • Awesome ! a must stay. Coastal walks, relaxing after in front of the fire. What more could anyone ask for.

  • We had a lovely country break at 5 Station Lane. Everything we needed Georgia provided. The house was clean and decor was beautiful. The house had a lovely view and quaint outside space. The property is walking distance to Harwich town where we had a lovely meal at The Pier. Would definitely come back again!

  • Really nice holiday chalet. Very clean and comfortable and had everything we needed. Good location. Nice walk along the promenade to the pier and the other way is the port where the big ships come in - our young boys loved watching them. Nice fish and chips at the Regal Bar down the road as recommended in the Chalet info book. Highly recommend the ice cream at the new pier stall - amazing.

  • Thanks Graham for the use of your immaculate caravan. We had a fantastic time in Suffolk and hope to return in the future.

  • This is a lovely caravan. Very comfortable. Kitchen was clean and well equipped. Had some lovely walks on the nature reserve. Great sitting out on the verandah with a glass of wine and a book. Had a relaxing few daya

  • A well-equipped very cosy and comfortable static caravan. Much appreciated biscuits and milk available on arrival. A very pleasant stay! Despite the weather we managed to go for some good walks around the coast and took a day trip to Ipswich. Remember to read the home info before setting of for Felixstowe and don't forget your own tea-towel. I only noticed that bit once on route so we had to manage without but it was a little inconvenient!

    Lorna2017-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • Our young family enjoyed a great few days in this caravan near Felixstowe Docks. The caravan is clean and comfortable, has good central heating and is well equipped with all of the essentials for a short break. If you're thinking of staying in Felixstowe then I'd highly recommend this caravan as a very good option.

    Darren2016-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • This is a stunning caravan in a nice location, with a great view of the Felixstowe port cranes, which I for one found fascinating. The caravan is warm, spacious, and the shower is lovely! A small query was resolved within about ten minutes when, after a text message, the owner appeared at the door with the resolution. Absolutely brilliant. The information given before arrival was great - including a message from the owner warning us that the Orwell Bridge was closed that morning due to the wind, so we may need to find an alternative route. Thankfully, we didn't need to, but it was a nice personal touch. The welcome was superb, with biscuits, milk, tea and coffee all there when we arrived. The site was pretty quiet, all apart from some building work happening nearby. Didn't spoil it for us though... Everything was as advertised, although we did get a little confused about the sleeping arrangements! It is a six berth caravan, but the bed in the sitting room has no mattress - so there's a double bed (with en suite toilet) and a twin room. That was entirely our fault, but it may save others from making a similar mistake! All in all, a lovely little break, and we certainly hope to return sometime

    Jonathan2016-04-02T00:00:00Z
  • Grahams caravan was spotless! We booked it for our friends from China who were visiting for our wedding. They loved their stay and were very comfortable! Graham was really great and sent us a detailed email before their visit with everything they needed. Thank you very much!

  • Lovely quiet caravan close to the beach. Was very clean and welcoming. Things like tbags / wahup liquid / toilet rolls make it easier than having to buy everything. The caravan had everything we needed. Including great supply of magazines. Easy directions 2 bedrooms - 1 double with en suite and 2nd room suitable for 2 small children or 1 large. The location was great and it was lovely to have a run/walk down the seafront each day. Everywhere we ate was great and nice to see so many food outlets with 5* Hygiene rating. We took cycle's and was pleased we had as lots near by to explore. We would highly recommend this caravan. Met the owners, lovely couple whilst we were there, very friendly and I think they would be happy to offer help/advice/support if required.

  • Lovely stay. The BakeHouse is kitted out well, has simple but lovely decor and is ideally located in Harwich old town. I loved the enclosed front yard and the mezzanine bedroom.

  • Paul made it very easy and convenient to collect and drop off keys and was really friendly. We bumped into him a few times during out stay and he was very friendly and helpful. The house was also fantastic, we were upgraded to the penthouse on ablemarle and although bigger than we needed was great for us to recover from a bit of jet lag!

    Kate2016-09-19T00:00:00Z
  • We loved staying at Paul's place! The place is such a wonderful place, with so many lovingly arranged details and a great space to relax. Paul was a really wonderful host, even when we had a problem at the evening with the stove he came right over to help and fix it!

    Jess2017-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • This is a sublime peaceful place and the outlook is beautiful from the windows. Plenty of space and a wonderful log burner that keeps it beautiful and cosy. I went for Christmas and decorated the porthole windows with holly and it looked so pretty. The large bed was very comfortable and so warm the heat rising from below. Lots of walks on which to take my dogs (who also loved ) and beautiful scenery on the walks with yachts passing by. I could live here quite happily.

  • America's place was a great base for celebrating my 30th birthday with lots of space and only a short walk to the beach. Also if you're a musician like me then you'll love the extra musical touches around the place too. America was a very accommodating host and a genuinely lovely person to boot.

  • We had a lovely stay, this house is even bigger than it looked on the website. Sea view from two of the bedrooms and only a very short walk to the beach, where there is a lovely little kiosk selling refreshments. The main beach and entertainments are only a few minutes drive away. The beds are comfortable. Lots of space for a larger amount of guests and the host was very welcoming as we arrived.

  • Jim and Ruth are great people, we were welcomed with English tea and a house tour. The house is really cool, old (300 years!) and charismatic. The room has a nice view (next door church). We (my mother and I) only stayed here for 1 night, but we recommend it!

    Danique2015-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • Second time here, great people, nice atmosphere, we even had live folk music when we arrived.

    Carel2015-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • Great location to the ferry terminal. Cute little town, wish we had more time to spend there.

    Amber2017-07-01T00:00:00Z
  • We had a mixed experience with this stay. Great communication before arriving, warm welcome, pleasant and comfortable room, and an excellent dinner recommendation. Yet for some reason we had the feeling that our stay was not convenient to our hosts -- nothing we could put our finger on, but just a sense that we didn't catch them on a good day. FYI, our GPS placed their house at the wrong end of the street. It is just off the church yard, not next to the movie theater.

    Kenneth2016-03-25T00:00:00Z
  • Jim and Ruth were away at a wedding so it was wonderful that they allowed us to use their home in their absence. They arranged for their friend Pam to be there to let us in and show us how everything worked. And then she showed us a nice old pub for a quiet drink - the Alma. A good location in the old part of Harwich. Some nice old pubs in the area and well positioned to do the Maritime Trail.....a little walk around this area showing items of historic maritime importance. Apart from the chiming of the church clock next door, its a very quiet area. The train station is a 5 minute walk away (pay the conductor on the train). Overall a good experience. Thanks.

    Malcolm2016-08-03T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely time at Jim and Ruth's authentic place. We drank a nice cup of tea together when we arrived and Ruth even offered us a piece of her homemade lasagne, which was delicious. It was a really warm welcome. The place moreover just breathes music and it was great to also hear them play a few songs for us. I would recommend it to anyone.

    Kristel2016-11-05T00:00:00Z
  • Good place to stay, good and clean room. The couple is not overly organised. If you require that, they maybe less suited. If you require warm people, get there.

    Jan2017-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • Jim and Ruth are really nice hosts. They are friendly and welcoming and try to make your stay as uncomplicated as possible. If you like to they also invite you to the activities they are doing or give you suggestions which places are worthwhile visiting. The room on second floor is as charming as the advert says. The ensuite is also large enough and as Jim told me he plans to include a shower in the ensuite aswell, which will make it almost perfect. The location is also awesome. If you are walking really slow, you might need a minute to the beach. You can even see the port of Felixstowe from your room. I did recognize the church bells some time but it did not disturb me at all. If I will ever come back to Harwich I will definetly consider Jim and Ruths place as an option again.

Treadwheel Crane - A rare historic crane built in 1667, used at the Naval Yard, moved to its present site on Harwich Green in about 1932. The crane was worked by men walking in the interior of two large wheels to raise and lower goods and materials. Low Lighthouse Museum - Built in 1818 as the forward of two transit light houses, it now houses a maritime museum and is a great vantage point to view the harbour from the lantern. Children’s Playgrounds - In Dovercourt play equipment for children situated in parks adjacent to the seafront promenade. The Dovercourt indoor heated swimming pool is open to the public throughout the year. The Dovercourt Low Road leisure area, adjacent to the beach and seafront promenade, provides a range of facilities including a boating lake, skate park, putting green and tennis courts.
  • A quirky, grand, stylish small flat right on the coast with a beautiful kitchen and bathroom, and a very comfy bed. Lots of nearby playgrounds, beaches and buildings to explore and so many boats everywhere. The place is easy to find and the caretaker is lovely. Recommended.

  • Great apartment, incredibly clean spacious, well provisioned and well decorated. Great location with parking and bang in amongst Harwich’s characterful amenities. As regular visitors to Harwich, we would definitely stay again. Benji’s communications and welcome pack were both way over the average. A top stay!

  • Brilliant location for exploring Harwich and all the amazing views and atmosphere. The flat was spotlessly clean and the bed exceptionally comfortable . Highly recommend .

  • A fab flat, spacious, airy, and very clean. Plenty of towels - thanks! It was perfect for my short break with my elderly mum! Great to have the lift, and car parking was no problem. Brilliant to step out and be right on the pier. Awesome sunsets too! Dave, the caretaker, was very friendly & very helpful. Would definitely book again!

Otheriwse driving and finding free parking was not a problem. Good for long walks and gentle bike rides. The locals were very friendly too.

  • We loved the apartment, it was so clean and warm. Everything worked and we didn't need for anything. We would highly recommend it to anyone.

  • We had a thoroughly enjoyable stay. The home was extremely clean and comfortable. Perfect for our needs!

    Stefanie2016-07-04T00:00:00Z
  • Nicola was a great host. As my first time using Air bnb, I had a wonderful experience. The cart house was very modern, clean and spacious. Even with three adults and one teen, our stay was very relaxing. We went out for diner in Ipswich which was only 20 mins away and then visited Flatford Mill the next day which was just as close. All and all, a great and happy experience.

    Céline2016-04-10T00:00:00Z
  • I booked on behalf of two colleagues for a work engagement. My colleagues found the place very comfortable and clean as depicted and hosts very friendly and accommodating. I found the host very responsive and easy to communicate with and I couldn't fault the experience - thank you!

    Tristan 2016-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent property - very clean, modern and comfortable with plenty of living room, a nice bathroom and a good kitchen area. Lovely surroundings and only a short walk to Holbrook shops / pub etc. Nicola was very welcoming and we would definitely recommend a stay at the Shotley Peninsula Bolthole. Thanks Nicola.

    Keith2016-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • Had a lovely weekend staying at the bolt hole. It's in a beautiful part of the world and the apartment itself is lovely, well appointed and maintained. Nicola made us feel very welcome and when we had a slight problem with the wifi, her family went out of their way to fix it and make sure we were connected. Can't recommend Nicola and her apartment highly enough.

3 bed caravan, pet friendly, quiet site. Small club on site, open at weekends. This is a non smoking caravan, though an ashtray is provided for outside. We are very sorry to say that we do not accept single sex adult groups of three or more, couples are most welcome.
  • Everything was fine. we had a great stay! The communication with Pat was great, we will choose the caravan again when we come back to harwich!

  • Loved our little holiday to Dovercourt, This accommodation provider served to be above my expectations. Ive stayed in many caravans in park homes etc and found them to have little to near any extras however the owner ensure there was tea coffee towels soap the list goes on. I wasn't expecting the extras but she ensure any needs we would have had were meet without asking or having to pop out to get from the shop. The site doesn't have much on it for children however I liked the way the beach and great park with lake wasn't far down the road plus not having much on the site means you want to take the kids out instead of shipping them off to the park whilst watching the box so this little great lactation with its singing birds close to the beach with a great little balcony was perfect for our family to bond and we all had a great time. I have no recommendations for the owner as she clearly has all the little touches covered in fact I'm looking forward to going back in the near future.

Enjoy a old fashioned seaside holiday In Walton on the Naze on the East Coast of England in this beautiful Victorian cottage. No large hotels just miles of award winning sandy beaches - great for swimming, cycling, walking, boat rides and fishing from the pier. The house is situated 5 minutes from the buzzy High Street and the beaches but in a residential street with it's own parking space. Ideal for families, couples or older people. Dogs also welcome (please bring your own dog blankets).
Built in 1900 this cottage retains its Victorian charm with mahogany floor boards (good for children and dogs), leaded windows including a bay window to the front and small gardens both front and back. At the same time is it bright, airy and comfortable.
This is a traditional English seaside town - unique in it's award winning long sandy beaches, stretching for miles on either side (for very quiet beaches walk towards Frinton which is 45 minute walk along the coast) or walk up to the Naze (20 mins) where you willl find The Naze Centre run by Essex Wildlife Trust with a range of free activities and a modern tea room. Walton itself is buzzy and has an array of fish n chip shops, cafes, gift shops and pier. Clacton - a large seaside town is about 6 miles away. Wildlife boat trips are available during the season.
  • Lovely home with comfy beds and cosy lounge. We thoroughly enjoyed our weekend making the most of having everything on our door step. The Victory Pub located round the corner had fabulous food - worth booking for Sunday lunch. We explored the backwaters on a boat tour and saw lots of seals. As well as walking along the coast past all the beach huts to Frinton. Would really recommend staying here! Exceptional value and great location.

  • Fab location, literally 2 minutes from the beach or "high street" , convince stores, pubs, fast food, parking...super super comfy beds! And dog friendly beaches!

    Stephanie2018-06-08T00:00:00Z
  • This home was perfect for our family. It's in a nice neighbourhood, close to everything! Three blocks from the beach, just 2 minutes from either the Tesco Express or the local co-op. The house was immaculate! Beds were comfortable, wi-fi fast, and the kitchen fully equipped. Stairs are steep, so perhaps not great for the elderly or infirm, but we loved it! Would recommend it without hesitation.

LUXURY two-storey accommodation on beautiful peninsula on the Suffolk coast. Architect-designed eco building features 2 large double bedrooms, 24 x 22 ft vaulted sitting room leading directly onto large private garden. New kitchen and bathroom. Southwold and Aldeburgh beaches within easy reach. Cycling and walking trails abound on the peninsula. Great pub just a short river walk away. Babysitting arranged on request.
Designed for maximum space and light, the tallhouse provides a contemporary, comfortable and spacious setting for weekend or week-long rural getaways.
Woolverstone has its origins in Saxon times, and features twice in the census of 1086. Today it's home to a thriving local community and is just a mile from arguably Suffolk's best pub – The Butt and Oyster, in next-door Pin Mill village. The bustling town of Ipswich is just 6 miles away, with cinemas, restaurants, the innovative Wolsey Theatre and the brilliant Jerwood Dance House. Aldeburgh is a 40-minute drive away, and the sandy beach of Felixstowe about 15 minutes.
  • Lovely country retreat not too far from busy London. David and Sarah have created a clean and stylish open-plan abode. The beds are so comfortable I wanted to take them home with me. The space easily accommodated my partner and two small children. It's a great gateway to all things good in Suffolk. Everything is within a half hour drive. And they have a lovely cat called Juno who calls into visit if you want him too.

    Kess2016-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely airy space with everything you need to settle in. Under floor heating is amazing! Was lovely and comfy, everything was sparkling clean, and the beds are dreamy and soft. We went to the Butt and Oyster pub as recommended and it was fab. Only issue was the very thin curtains on the side of the building that looks over to the main house (which is quite close) - perfect for keeping the space light during the day but privacy is a little compromised in the evening. Would absolutely recommend this place - we even met a very friendly cat and saw a badger snuffling in the woods.

  • Fab place fab location

    Hannah2018-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • The house is in a lovely peaceful location backing onto a lovely small wood, which is amazing if you are staying with children as we were. It's easily accessible and perfectly located to explore a number of beautiful spots in the area. The house itself is big and full of natural light with an open plan design and big windows. It's self contained so nice and private. It's all modern and double glazed and we'll heated, so we'll suited to the colder months. The hosts are very friendly and helpful, and gave us some good local tips. They live in the house opposite so are nearby if assistance is needed, but are very respectful of their guests privacy at the same time. We would definitely stay there again if we head back that way.

    Francesco2017-10-29T00:00:00Z
  • A wonderful space, in a converted barn on the edge of a small wood that is ideal for children to explore. Lovely accommodation, spick and span, decent facilities and the double-heighted living room has a lots of natural light. A very relaxing stay. The host Sarah was not in, but I would say is that the main house is closer than you might think, so bear that in mind. If you want to use this as a base for Ipswich or Suffolk, it's perfect.

    Geoffrey2017-08-14T00:00:00Z
  • The Tall House provided us with the getaway we really needed: tucked away, quiet and relaxing. whilst being within striking distance of good food and lots of fresh air. Our welcome was wonderful, with lovely local food provided as requested, and the house is exactly as it seems - clean, well decorated and with all of the amenities you need. We cycled around Alton reservoir nearby, walked from Southwold to Walberswick and back and also along the Orwell river path - plenty to do!

  • We absolutely loved Chris’s caravan. A nice double room and two small twin beds, good shower and lovely kitchen dining table and living area. It’s a stones throw from the beach. Had no issues with hot water/electricity etc. we had a few teething issues regarding bedding but Chris responded immediately to offer to rectify any issues and ensure we had a comfortable stay.

  • Very spacious place with all the things you’d need - good Wi-fi, sky box and tv etc. You’ll need your own bedding and towels but that’s ok. Place was clean and all the kitchen utensils were like new. Brilliant location near the beach and good / easy parking right alongside. The park itself is quiet and perfect for those wanting to relax. Have already booked again for later in the year!

  • A loved 6 berth unit with good facilities. The site was quiet with no disturbances at all. Extremely close to the beach (50 yds) with super play park just to the north along the shore line (200 yds). Excellent shower and little noise between rooms in the mobile home. Toilet is separate to the shower/ wash basin which was handy.

‘Volharding’ translates from Dutch as ‘Perseverance’ and is an historic 78ft barge, dating back to 1890. Featuring a large teak table on the main deck for al fresco dining, she sleeps a maximum of 8 in a range of double and single cabins. She is moored to a jetty adjacent to the Old Brickyard and offers amazing views of the River Stour in Suffolk. Your perfect peaceful getaway with family or friends to enjoy the views and wildlife. We don't allow music outdoors to keep it nice and relaxed. She is an extraordinary vessel and provides a base for magical waterborne holidays on the River Stour. She is fully seaworthy and lies to a jetty in a large garden alongside the owner’s two other waterside retreats. She sleeps up to 8 guests. There are two double beds, one in the lovely skippers stern cabin, the rest are traditional sea going bunks. The cockpit has amazing views up the Stour to the west toward Mistley and to the East, Harwich and Felixstowe. As the tide ebbs and flows covering and uncovering the RSPB mudflats, the scenery changes, the light is always different. The huge dawns and sunsets are a major part of the memories you will take home with you. There are still Thames Barges sailing these rivers with their majestic red sails, and if you like we can organise a day away on board one. Have your lunch outside in the cockpit amongst the birds, or sit below in the comfortable saloon listening to the saltwater lapping against the hull. “Volharding” is an ‘Oostzeetjalk’ class Dutch sailing barge, brought to the UK from Holland in 2000. She has been used for residential and cruising on the Thames and sailed in the Thames estuary in 2001. She has been well maintained and has beautiful proportions and size. Interior Main entry is through the amidships well deck, which has been fitted with teak edging and teak laid decks. There is a large teak table to the centre of the well deck, with space for six people to dine alfresco. Steps lead down from the well deck to the full size teak\half glazed stabledoor and into the main saloon. The spacious saloon has three windows on both sides, making it very light and airy, and offering good visibility of the world outside, with an opening covered window onto the well deck. Storage cupboards line both sides of the saloon, two of which contain full size fridge and freezer. The saloon is laid out informally with chairs, dining table and a beautiful coffee table made from an old lee-board Descending the steps forward from the saloon, one enters the main dining area, with large comfy fixed seating for 8 people, with glass fronted display cabinets, blue painted shelving and brass hanging oil lamps, it has a real ship’s feel. The galley is opposite and is equipped with a small fridge for everyday items, a full size, combined oven\grill\microwave, four ring stainless steel gass hob with stainless steel extractor hood and a stainless steel gas oven. Plenty of worktops and numerous cupboards. There is also a large porthole for light and ventilation. A central companionway with a full length roof light, leads to the forward accommodation. On the starboard side, the bathroom is lined throughout with mahogany. Opposite the bathroom is a small cabin (1) fitted out with two single bunks, and a porthole. Forward of this cabin on the same side is a larger cabin (2) also fitted with a double bunk and porthole. On the starboard side is another large cabin (3) with three single bunks. This cabin has 2 portholes and an opening roof light. Returning to the saloon, steps lead off the port side down to the astern accommodation, passing on the right a large coat cupboard, also containing the hot water tank. Continuing along the companion way the washing machine and tumble drier are located on the right behind a curtain. Opposite this is the entrance to cabin (4) and (5). Cabin 4 contains a double bed and 2 portholes, cabin 5 contains a sofa\single bed and a fold away single bunk, and 2 portholes. Leaving cabin 5 and returning to the companionway, opposite is a bathroom with a porthole. Next you come to an area with cupboards leading off containing all the ship’s electrics and a separate cupboard containing a central heating boiler. Also there is a ladder leading up into the roof cabin and on out to the stern deck Continuing along the companionway on the port side is a private bathroom for cabin (6) with a porthole. The companionway then leads onto the stern state cabin, occupying the whole stern, with 2 portholes and 2 opening windows looking out over the water to the rudder. this cabin contains a double bed. Exterior You actually have your own large enclosed garden with Volharding, as well as the quirky experience of on board living! The garden is adjacent to the barge and your jetty leads off it. The large forward deck features the original anchor windlass\main mast winch and offers lots of space for working the ship and ropes when cruising. The inflatable is also stored on this deck and has its own winch for launching. Over the amidships section is the main saloon roof, rising up into a wonderful double curvature\saddle roof. The well deck is surrounded by low teak capped sides with entrance gates to both sides and there is a large outside dining area for at least 6 people. The sailing winch for the mizzen mast is also contained within this area. The aft deck has the large tiller steering. My home is close to public transport, within walking distance of the town centre and seafront. A 5 minute drive to the Port of Felixstowe. You’ll love my home because of the cosiness and warm welcome you will all receive. Use as a base to explore the beautiful Suffolk countryside and other lovely seaside resorts. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, and business travellers.
  • Julie is a really nice lady warm and friendly. She has a lovely home it's clean and really comfortable. I hope to go again soon.

    Polly2017-06-29T00:00:00Z
  • A very pleasant overnight stay. Julie picked me up from the train station - very kind - and this proved very useful at it was a little further to walk from the beach, station and town centre than I'd expected. The room itself was very clean and comfortable, particularly the bed . Julie, the owner, was extremely friendly and great company. No hesitation is recommending this to others.

    Matt2017-07-02T00:00:00Z
  • Julie is a great host, we had wonderful conversations with her. We only staid for one night but it was all that we needed. The bedroom is quite big, and having the shower in your room is a luxury. The bed is great, had a good night's sleep (maybe longer than it should have). Julie's is in a residential area but quite close to the beach. Felixstowe is a lovely place, you should visit.

  • We had a lovely three-night stay with Julie. The bedroom was large, beautifully decorated with its own shower and wash basin. Everything was superbly clean. Julie was a great host - chatty, interested and extremely warm and welcoming. Julie went out of her way to be helpful to us including giving us a lift into town so we could visit our elderly relative the evening we arrived. Thanks again!

    Anton-Jan2017-07-29T00:00:00Z
  • The room was fine for our needs. The bed was comfortable and the shower was great. The house is obviously a work in progress but suited us. The location is excellent for enjoying Harwich. Des provided ample orange juice, milk, tea and coffee. The TV is good (can't always say that). Although a couple of other people live in the house, we didn't hear a sound. Ideal for a night or two. Des is a very good host.

The Sail Loft is a self contained apartment with a separate entrance door. There is plenty of parking on the drive and we are walking distance to our local Marina and a pub. We are ideally placed for visiting Woodbridge, Felixstowe and Ipswich. There is plenty of sailing, walking and bird watching in the area too.
The Sail Loft has an open plan living, kitchen, dining area with tv. The kitchen has a small fridge, toaster, microwave and kettle. Please note there is no oven or hob. There is a king sized bed in the bedroom and another tv. The shower room is off the bedroom. The sitting area has a double sofa bed which would really only suit one adult or two small children. We have wifi but living in the countryside this can be a bit hit and miss.
We live in a quiet country lane and there are no street lamps. The accommodation overlooks the River Orwell. This is a busy river with many sailing activities taking place.
  • What a location, beautiful views over the river, lovely pub down the road. Everything you need provided and spotlessly clean. Highly recommended.

This is a newly finished stand alone two bedroom flat. You have your own entrance into light hallway into big room with fitted kitchen and seating area along with dining table for four. Kitchen is all self contained with cooker, fridge, kettle, toaster and all utensils, crockery etc for four. The bedrooms are set as a double and a twin but it is possible to put as two doubles. It does look over countryside with great walks, biking and the river is on your doorstep.
We are close to the Royal Hospital School, River Orwell and Stour. We have animals on the farm - dogs and horses. There is use of a tennis court with prior arrangement. This is a working farm so there is machinery about.
The Hen House is in a rural location but with some good pubs and eateries in close proximity. Ipswich is only 10 miles away but the two rivers of the Orwell and Stour are less than a 20 min walk.
  • The Hen House is a great place to explore Suffolk and it the delights it has to offer. Check-in was easy and the essentials in the fridge and cupboard a real bonus. The place was cosy and warm even on the sub zero nights we were there. We loved the complete lack of light and sound pollution and the stars at night were as bright and clear as I have seen anywhere in the world. Beautiful. We felt very safe and secure tucked up in our warm comfy beds. The kids loved the walks around the area and the very friendly dog, Willow, who has perfected her skill of pulling on heartstrings to a tee. Thanks to Kim and her family for allowing us to use your place and your hospitality made us feel very welcome.

    Richard2018-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Great value, very clean and lovely open views to wake up to. The owners are very helpful and we will definitely return in the future.

  • A lovely warm cottage for our wintry weekend in Suffolk. Great location with a lovely walk down to the river.

    Marjorie2018-03-18T00:00:00Z
  • We had such a lovely stay here, The Hen House is really nice and far bigger and spacious than we imagined. With 2 really good sized rooms it was a perfect setup to enable us to put the little one to bed and still have some evening time to ourselves, beats a hotel setup any day. We loved the look of the Hen House, much bigger and spacious than we expected, also had everything we needed for our stay. Kim was very friendly and helpful. Made arrival/check-in a breeze! Whilst you’re a little off the beaten track, you’re still not really that far from anywhere! So all in all I’d definitely recommend a visit.

    Matthew2018-04-02T00:00:00Z
  • What a lovely place the Hen House is. It was easy to find - the SatNav brought us straight there. It is spotlessly clean, bright and airy with excellent facilities like a wet room. Kim and her family made us feel very welcome - a bonus for our 7 the old twins was to help feed the horse and pony and play with the friendly dogs. We slept very well; although The Hen House is on a working farm, we found it calm and tranquil and all of us slept well. I would recommend to anyone. We came to visit Sutton Hoo for our girls school topic, which was around 40 minutes drive away - again - recommended as a place to visit for anyone with children.

    Sue2018-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • What a fabulous setting. The facilities are really comfortable - so nice to have such a big bathroom and bedrooms of equal size and comfort - far more spacious than the photos show. The location is stunning and although it feels secluded and very safe it’s only 5 mins drive from a local store, great pubs (that serve food) and only 10 mins from more options to explore. The owners are so hospitable that it felt as if we were visiting friends they were so welcoming. We can’t wait to go back and neither can the two 5 year old boys we were with. You won’t be disappointed!

    Charlotte2018-06-01T00:00:00Z
  • The Hen House is set in lovely surroundings and we were made to feel very welcome by the owners Kim and Geoff. The Hen House was bright, clean and was ideal for our short stay.

  • Stayed here for two days, and had an amazing time. The caravan is furnished and decorated really nicely, which we both loved! The host met us at the site entrance, and was incredibly helpful and friendly. If we had any problems, we were able to quickly message the host, which was good! The caravan is super close to the beach, and very easy to get to. We would definitely stay here again, and would definitely recommend it to others! Fantastic place for a really good price! Next time I think we'll book to stay longer, because we really didn't want to leave. Thank you for having us.

  • The hosts have a great caravan, very spacious, especially the living room area. The beds are very comfortable and 6 of us (adults) slept well there. The caravan has everything you could need in a weekend and everything is in good working order. The hosts are extremely attentive and kind, and nothing is too much trouble. The location is brilliant - only 2 minutes to the beach!

  • We all had a really pleasant stay in June's caravan, she was very helpful. It was ideal for a couple of days at the seaside as it was a close walk to a dog friendly beach which suited us and our Maggie as treat.

  • Damian's caravan is located within Suffolk Sands Holiday Park, few minutes walk to the beach. We had a pleasant stay during end of half term weekend. June greeted us and showed the place, explained what's where, gave some handy tips. The caravan is properly equipped, with kitchen utensils, extra blankets, TV, dvd player; extra toilet it's a bonus ;-) when you are on holidays with kids. Really comfy mattresses, light and warm douves, nice pillows. We had a proper nice sleep. Parking space in the front of the caravan. Local amenities within a stroll down promenade, bigger shops/markets 5min drive away. Fantastic playground within the Martello Park.

Not only did Jeremy pick me up from the station, he also invited me to have a glass of wine on the balcony and a chat. On top of that he also offered to drive me to the wedding I was going to. A Rare opportunity to experience the Great Eastern Hotel. My place has great views, art and culture, restaurants and dining, and the beach. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travellers, and families (with kids).
The Lookout is on the top floor of Quayside Court and offers stunning views across the estuary of the rivers Stour and Orwell. Quayside Court, once the Great Eastern Hotel, is an impressive grade II listed building located in the heart of Old Harwich, sitting on the Quay opposite the Ha’penny Pier, where the steam packets used to come in for passengers to embark or disembark. There are a huge variety of things to do in and around Harwich for all ages. Stroll around Harwich with its unique Pubs, cafes, shops and restaurants or just sit and watch the activity at Felixstowe Docks across the river. Visit the Mayflower Project, visit the many heritage sites, walk the Heritage Trail or go crabbing on the pier. Just a few minutes walk away is the beautiful blue flag beach . Harwich’s many different festivals, held throughout the year, are very well supported and create a lovely atmosphere. With large picture windows offering fantastic views of the estuary from every room, this cosy accommodation is furnished and equipped to a high standard and offers 2 bedrooms, one double room and one twin room, bathroom with shower over bath, large living room with TV, kitchen diner with dishwasher, microwave, fridge with small freezer compartment and single oven. • Paul was a wonderful host right from the start. He was very responsive when we had to communicate before arrival and everything went smoothly. The apartment is super clean and very comfortable, with everything you need. The large kitchen is well equipped. We stayed with our 19m old daughter and there was lots of room for her to move without causing havoc and was a pretty safe space for her overall. A great location right on the waterfront near pubs and restaurants, the pier and beaches. If you're looking for a great place to stay in Harwich, you've found it!

    Ella2017-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • The apartment is in a really fun little village and the view is spectacular. Be sure to stop at Morrison's market on your way into Harwich because there are no grocery stores in town. And it is so interesting and historical you may not want to leave. We will be back here, for sure.

    Toni2018-07-24T00:00:00Z
  • Great size of apartment, and very functional. Kids had a great time, and especially liked the Sailing Club beach, with its willow whale sculpture they could go inside. Dovercourt beach a mile or so down the coast gave us one of the best beach days ever. The Pier next door on one side of the building is good for food, and The Alma pub on the other is also great.

This pretty country cottage is situated in the grounds of the owner's home in Wrabness on the Essex/Suffolk border in the beautiful countryside. Many walks and attractions are close by. The cottage is warm and cosy with a wood burning stove in the lounge area. The Annexe has recently been refurbished. The Firs annexe dates back to the 1600's. The property is grade 2 listed and benefits from a wealth of period features. We welcome all guests, children and pets to our homely cottage.
A peaceful country village location overlooking fields but within walking distance of the village shop, beach, many walks and nature reserves.

  • This is a quirky but comfortable and cosy cottage and a great base for exploring the area. Should you need to contact them, Rachael and Nick are very friendly and helpful.

    Julie2018-06-17T00:00:00Z
  • Loved the quaint feel of the annexe. We visited Flatford Mill, The Tea House at Mistly, The Garden Cafe and Art Museum at Dedham, & also saw Grayson Perry’s ‘Julie’s House’ during our 2 night stay. The space was adequate for us as two adults, along with our two small dogs. The stairs may be a little steep for someone with mobility problems, & my husband didn’t quite get the hang of ducking when he went through doorways. We had glorious weather over the two days so didn’t get the chance to use the log burner, so may have to return in winter to sit by that lovely fireplace.

    Deborah2018-06-28T00:00:00Z
  • Such a lovely place to stay! Communication with host was great, very lovely and helpful couple. Accommodation was clean, homely and very well equipped with lovely period features. Rachel and Nick even set up the wood burning logs prior to our arrival. There are books, DVDs, own private garden, well equipped kitchen etc etc for your stay. Local area is nice, beach and nature reserve within walking distance. You can also drive to closeby beaches and even more restaurants if you fancy. All in all we had an amazing time at The Firs and would certainly recommend it!

This picturesque and peaceful cottage, set in wonderful local countryside, is an ideal luxury bolthole for a romantic weekend or a week long retreat from the rigours of modern life. The cottage is well placed to access Colchester, Ipswich, Constable country, and the Suffolk borders, as well as easy access to and from London - less than 2 hours by car and 50 minutes by train.
The Thatched Cottage is a striking single storey clapboard house under a thatched roof, offering an elegant modern kitchen, generous living/dining room and master bedroom suite with beautiful en-suite bathroom. The property has been carefully decorated to balance the requirements of modern living whilst remaining faithful to the period of the property. With private gardens front and rear, the property looks out over its walled Italianate garden to the north-west and its more modest cottage garden to the south-east. The gardens benefit from full sun long into the evening, and offer guests significant privacy. The property is entered through the North-West gable end into the boot room, which leads through into a well appointed and elegantly decorated kitchen with a large central island, housing an induction hob and fan oven. Fridge/freezer, toaster, kettle (with coffee, tea, and sugar always fully stocked), microwave, dishwasher, and a wide range of cookware and china. The French doors leading off the living room, linking the inside and outside spaces, are ideal for outside dining or enjoying a drink in the evening sun. The internet-enabled television and wifi/internet ensure that despite the rural location one can plug back in at any moment. The bedroom and bathroom suite offer a slight change in tone from the rest of the property, decorated in rich colours, with antique furniture and period features combining to give the feeling of period luxury. • Beautiful, quaint, chocolate box cottage in the most peaceful of settings. Perfect spot for R&R. Alex is a wonderful, helpful and accommodating host. Looking forward to a return visit as plenty to do in the surrounding area should you wish to leave this little zen den and adventure out into the real world!

  • An amazing little retreat if you want to escape for a day or two. The Thatched Cottage had everything you could need and more, in a perfect location, easy to find and check in. As a photographer I loved sitting watching the foxes play in the evening and the squirrels posing on the tree stump. I am sure we will be back!

  • Beautiful location set in a very quite estate on picturesque private grounds. The cottage is well furnished and has everything you need for a lovely stay. The gardens are perfect for alfresco dining or sitting out in the sun - which they receive all day long. You could easily stay here and never leave the grounds but if you do there are great beaches nearby and lots of local events going on.

  • We came to the little barn for a last minute weekend away and we both really enjoyed it! The accommodation itself is clean and homely and modern. The food at the Red Lion was delicious, and the hosts were so accommodating. We arrived to a fridge stocked with milk, orange juice, bacon, tomatoes and mushrooms, as well as a tin with fresh homemade bread! It was the thoughtful extras like these which made our stay run so smoothly. I'd definitely recommend staying, and I'd definitely return. Thank you Dougie and Amanda!

  • We found the place comfortable and clean .We were welcomed with a glass of Prosecco and were able to walk a few yards to the pub next door for supper . It was clearly a professional operation with crisp linen on the bed, napkins and a range of food to choose from for cooking our breakfast.

  • 5 star accommodation with a very welcoming host and hostess! Very comfortable bed with loads of room to move around. Beautiful furniture and well equipped kitchen. Different breakfast ingredients provided each day. Many interesting walks right through the village up to the rivers. Would highly recommend for a peaceful weekend away or a leisurely week spent exploring Suffolk. Dougie kindly posted my Kindle that I left behind. Excellent weekend all around.

  • Had an amazing stay here. The photos don't do it justice (even though they look great). Amazingly friendly service from Mandy, a stocked fridge, fresh home baked bread and also the food in the Red Lion is superb. Can't recommend this place enough.
