Garden View Lodge, a fully-equipped house, can sleep 7. Located across the street from the Garden of Eden, a National Historic Site, in Lucas, Grassroots Art Capital of KS, & is 8 miles from Wilson Lake. Please note: charge per additional guests.
Garden View Lodge is located in Lucas, Kansas, directly across the street from the Garden of Eden art site. Story has it that it was built for a son of the Garden's creator, Samuel Perry Dinsmoor, in the 1920s. It may have been a kit house that was delivered on the railroad. It's a neat, clean, and cozy house that has been well preserved, with a small town feel. While it is in the town, it reminds us of visiting our grandparents' farmhouse. Fully equipped house located in Lucas, Kansas, Grassroots Art Capital of Kansas and one of the 8 Wonders of Kansas. For those of you traveling on I-70, Lucas is 18 miles North of the Wilson exit. Just 8 miles from Wilson Lake, it's a great location for swimming, boating, fishing and hunting trips. You will have full access to the house and plenty of privacy. You can see the Garden of Eden across the street as well as the Miller's Park sculptures, and you can walk downtown in three short blocks. It's a quiet setting. Besides being the Grassroots Art Capital of Kansas, Lucas is also one of the 8 Wonders of Kansas. There is a lot to see in this tiny town. You could spend a full day touring all of the sites. The Lodge is close to the Garden of Eden, Miller's Park sculptures, the World's Largest Collection of the World's Smallest Things, Grassroots Art Center, Deeble House and Rock Garden, Post Office, liquor store, hardware store, library with an internet hotspot, convenience store/gas station with bait shop, restaurants, and a first-run movie theatre. This is a small town and most everything is closed by 10 pm, so please keep this in mind if arriving late (like for meals or gas). A recently added attraction is Bowl Plaza, a very original and highly decorated take on public restrooms! You can walk to all of these locations. For those of you who are general aviation pilots, the Lucas airport, 38K, is 1485 MSL. Its asphalt 17-35 runway is 2940 x 50 feet with constant overnight lighting. You can taxi to the adjacent gas station for unleaded gas. (No av fuel available.) We now have DIRECTV and a DVD player. Feel free to bring your own videos, or the library has videos for checkout. There's a wireless hotspot at the library, just south of the intersection of Second and Main Street, and most smartphones receive good service in the area. Many guests rely on bringing their laptops or tablets for entertainment. We have lawn chairs and a Weber grill available if you'd like to use the yard. Best of all, this is a quiet setting where you can enjoy a night's rest.
The street is wide, providing ample parking space even for those of you towing trailers. There is a fine view of the Garden of Eden, and shops and stores are nearby.
  • A great little house, just like you stepped back in time. Great location across from the Garden of Eden (a must see). If you like folk art this is the town for you! Also, listen to the jazz cassette tapes!

  • This was a clean, comfortable house right across the street from the Garden of Eden attraction. I was frustrated not having any cellphone service (AT&T) , wifi, or television.

  • I wasn't expecting much on our trip across country and to stay in a small town in Kansas but my oh my did this house make me want to stay! Such thoughtful touches around the house (dog treats, yummy coffee, food in case you need a treat). It was super clean and felt like home. Mary ann was so great to help us figure out where to stop on the way into town. We stoped at K18 diner on the way out and it was sooo yummy as well!

    Bri2017-10-18T00:00:00Z
  • The house is comfortable and interesting. The bathroom is on the ground floor. We didn't have any phone service. The town has a sense of humor and is creative. Several novel places to visit. Everything is within walking distance.

    Melinda2017-10-05T00:00:00Z
  • We arrived to find a perfectly clean, welcoming, comfortable and well managed cottage. This house exceeded our expectations. The furniture, decor, photographs and art all tell of the town's rich history too, which is a bonus. This is a great place to stay for a weekend, or even stop for one night on your way to KC or Denver. We would recommend it for couples, families and anyone who appreciates art or history. We will definitely be back!

  • I enjoyed the stay very much. The house was perfectly clean and everything I needed was available. In fact, I was amazed at how thoughtfully the house had been stocked with little things like kitchen extras (I love to cook on the road; it makes me feel at home.) coffee supplies, movies, music, phone chargers, audio hookup for iPods, etc. It's an older house, but it has been fixed up nicely and set up to be really cozy. I'd definitely stay there again. I did not get a chance to meet Mary Ann, but all of the online booking interaction was prompt, clear and friendly. The only thing I'd mention is that I had basically no cell coverage on T-mobile and there were no internet signals either, but I was on a kind of retreat so that actually aided my rest.

    Matthew2015-11-13T00:00:00Z
  • The lodge is at a great location and the inside is really cute! Although I didn't have a change to meet Mary, she made the place really comfortable to stay.

  • We had a great time in Lucas. Mary Ann was a fantastic host and the property was comfortable and quiet. Wonderful Airbnb experience!

My sweet 1950's house on the prairie is bright and spacious. The open concept floor plan gives it a open yet warm feel. Both bedrooms are roomie and comfortable. My family and I have been using Air BnB for a number of years and absolutely love it and it's been a fun adventure now having one of our own. Our hope is that you will feel at right at home.
The backyard is incredibly spacious, a great place for kids to play or to have guests over to entertain.
My neighbors are very sweet and helpful. I feel so grateful my home is in such a lovely neighborhood. It's a quiet and peaceful place to stay. There is a school near by with a really great playground, as well as a number of parks. The location of my home is incredibly convenient for people just passing through as it is just 7 minutes to I-70. It's also a short walk to the adorable little downtown. There are a number of cute shops to pop into and some of my favorite places to eat. The home is also situated close to Fort Hays State University, just a 5 minute drive.
  • Better than described...after a long day of driving I was amazed at how this felt like home. Would definitely stay again.

  • Great option to stay in Hays ... perfect size for a group of 4 and gives you the comfort of a home! Great location ... we will be back!

  • Very nice house with tasteful touches and cozy surroundings. Nice, quiet and good neighborhood. Brook is a great host.

  • We loved staying at this home. The place was spacious and easily housed our family of five. The beds were perfect; we left rested and refreshed.

  • Great place to stay off the interstate. Cool town of Hays! Has nice night life. Threat house to make yourself cozy for a night or two if so inclined!

  • Awesome place, great hospitality, and great value!

    Erik2017-12-09T00:00:00Z
  • Great stay and just like the pictures. Stayed here after a wedding and was nice to have more room and better price than a hotel.

    David2017-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • The house is light and airy. We stayed a weekend for our daughter's graduation from Kansas Academy of Math and Science. 4 adults and 1 child. The host graciously provided games which we played as a family. Spices and some condiments, laundry soap, TP, trash bags, ziploc bags etc were available which makes it nice that we don't have to run out to buy these things before settling in. We would have enjoyed some patio/lawn chairs but we made do with what was inside. Repeat customer, going back next weekend for son's college graduation.

  • Great place. Loved learning the history from Larissa.

    Lesa2017-11-29T00:00:00Z
  • Really enjoyed our stay. Kris and Larissa are great hosts! The house has so much charm and character! Thank you!

    Bryan2017-08-02T00:00:00Z
  • It had old character just like Hays itself. You can walk to a nice downtown. A pub/restaurant/sports bar down town is really good, not just a college. I think it is called Gellas's.

    Robert2017-09-11T00:00:00Z
  • Larissa is a great hostess. She had a lot of local recommendations and was very accommodating. The room was cute and cozy and we had some wine and all the coffee fixings waiting for us. Also the bed is SO comfortable! Great stay.

    Marissa2018-01-08T00:00:00Z
  • Lots of nice touches. Neat house in downtown area. Kris and Larissa were great hosts.

    Robin2017-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • We got delayed when traveling and Larissa was so understanding and stayed up late to check us in. Such a beautiful room! And great amenities for the price. My car needed repairs and Larissa helped me find a mechanic . Wonderful experience overall. Wish we could've stayed longer.

    Claire2017-09-12T00:00:00Z
  • The room was extremely comfortable and clean and our hosts were more than helpful and kind. Really interesting decor and cool history attached to the house, which was outlined in depth in a history booklet in the room! Couldn't be happier with our stay. Super close walk to many great places to eat.

  • Very convenient drive to FHSU. Quiet neighborhood and the home reflected cleanliness and comfort. Appreciated the food item for breakfast and fresh fruit. Joyce was accessible and very friendly.

  • Joyce's place was very clean and comfortable. There were special touches like lots of choices for breakfast, surprise treats and some decorations for the holidays. Look forward to staying again.

  • Where do I start??? The stay was amazing for my family and I. The house was immaculate when we got there and the directions for the keys easy to understand. The house is in a really quiet neighborhood right down the street from the college so it made travel back and forth really easy. I was surprised to see that there was eggs, bread, and muffins there for us to make breakfast. There was also fresh fruit on the table and coffee ready to be made. I had to make a change to my reservation and Joyce responded to me in less than 20 minutes confirming the change. That surprised me that she responded so fast. I will definitely be staying here every time I go to Hays from now on.

    Jesse2017-11-23T00:00:00Z
  • Joyce’s place was great. Clean, comfortable, and everything you could ask for. The pillows weren’t my type-they’re the down-filled kind that fall completely flat when you lay your head down on them. So bring a pillow if those aren’t your favorite. Besides that, there was nothing left to be desired. Joyce was very responsive, and there were several nice touches that made you feel welcome (food in the fridge to welcome you, a note on the whiteboard on the fridge, etc.). I’d definitely recommend Joyce’s place to anyone needing a great place to rest their head.

  • Our entire experience with staying at Joyce's cozy house was outstanding. So nice of her to leave edibles and Christmas decor for the holiday. The home was nice and warm in frigid temps, no problems there! Having a garage was a plus. All in all, an excellent stay. Joyce is quick to communicate and left very clear instructions for everything we needed to know. I would not hesitate to stay again!

  • Our stay here was absolutely wonderful! Judy went above and beyond our expectations, from the delicious scones to the immaculately clean room! I really appreciated her quick response and clear communication. My wife and I were on the road and needed to find a nice place to stay after a long days drive. We felt very comfortable and right at home here. The fridge was stocked and the scones were delicious. We stayed in the African Safari themed room. It was great. We loved the different themed rooms. Very quiet and safe neighborhood and we were able to keep an eye on our car from the window in our room which was a plus. We enjoyed a wonderful shower and a great night's rest. We felt very well rested and ready for our next day's drive thanks to our stay at Judy's. We will definitely stay again if we pass through Hays again in the future. Highly recommend!! Thank you again Judy for a great Air BnB experience!! A+!

  • This was an excellent stay. It was a private house with multiple rooms rented out to travelers. The space was very clean and beautiful and included use of a piano in the living room which we were super excited about. A key was available via an outdoor lock box so we could come and go as we pleased. There was one additional traveler there and it was excellent to be able to chat about life on the road. Unable to meet Judy, but the space was perfect.

    Anthony2016-05-27T00:00:00Z
  • Judy was a very kind and gracious host and it was a pleasure to stay in her home. The homemade breakfast casserole made to order was delicious!

    Steven2016-12-28T00:00:00Z
  • We got a bit lost, called Judy and she stayed on the line and "talked us into our landing"! The house is an oldie, being refurbished, and brought back memories for me! She had left breakfast in the fridge, fresh fuit, and libations! Everything was clean (the floors haven't been redone yet, but they ARE clean), lots of hot water, and thank goodness a good A/C! We picked cherries in the backyard and I cooked up some "fridge preserves" for our breakfast. Our first AirBnB experience was a good one.

  • This is exactly what my girlfriend and I needed for a pit stop from Iowa to Colorado. Judy and her husband met us upon arriving to greet us. They were so warm and welcoming and offered up tour of their beautiful older home. They were very helpful with places to eat in Hayes. Room was cozy and shower had plenty of hot water. We would definitely stop here again in the future.

    Chad2016-04-18T00:00:00Z

  • Dave was waiting outside to greet my wife and me. Cathy met us around the back where we parked. Suki was very vocal in welcoming us to the home. We sat down at a table in the basement and had a friendly chat for an hour and a half with tasty snacks and drinks. Both Dave and Cathy were incredibly knowledgeable about the local history, and were happy to share it with us. Suki was quick to lavish us with gentle kisses! We retired to our room which was very clean and comfortable. We both slept very well. We had agreed to a 7:00am breakfast which was ready as scheduled. It was a full breakfast with a good mix of delicious, home cooked food. The coffee was excellent, as was the company and conversation. The home, property, and neighborhood were all wonderful. I can't imagine paying for a hotel with such a bargain waiting in Hays.

    Mark2016-11-14T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely fantastic! My husband and I stayed at Cathy and David's with our toddler and had the best stay! First of all, Cathy and David are extremely kind and great conversationalists. They shared some stories about Hays and we got to share a bit of our lives with them over some evening snacks. Our toddler loved the swimming pool (plenty of pool toys too!) as well as Suki the dog. Our room was on a separate lower level that was secluded if we needed it to be, but also readily accessible for chatting with Cathy and David. Cathy and David made a delicious breakfast as well in the morning. Highly recommend!!!

    Julie2017-06-29T00:00:00Z
  • Cathy and Dave provided us a very pleasant stay. Wine and cheese upon arrival, wonderfully quiet room for sleeping. We awoke to snow flurries and a delicious breakfast. In the words of Stephanie Grappelli, "To Drawer"! Thank you!

    Kirsten2016-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • Cathy and Dave were wonderful hosts. We arrived in the evening and they let us settle in before giving us dinner suggestions. The house is beautifully decorated with many pictures and photos from their trips. Breakfast was great, we were able to hear about their exciting trips and the history of Hays. Suki, the dog, is very friendly.

    Naomi2017-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • Cathy and Dave extend a generous amount of Kansas hospitality. They are gracious and full of knowledge for the history of the area. The rooms are very nice and the bed is extremely comfortable. I would return to this location any time I am going to be in this area. They definitely rate 5 stars for my husband and I.

  • Cathy and Dave were very welcoming us into their home. We had a great experience and would definitely stay again if our travels take us to hays, ks. Our experience was so nice and very comfortable. Breakfast was great! Fruit, coffee, pastries, yogurt.

  • The house was beautiful, homey, and about 5 minutes away from everything! Cathy and Dave were so accommodating and friendlyand the food was amazing! It had everything to make us feel comfortable and more.

  • Cathy and Dave are very welcoming and friendly. The home is in a gorgeous neighborhood, away from the busy streets. The room is quiet with a nice tv and wifi. I shared the bathroom with another lady guest, but it was not a problem, we did not run in to each other. Breakfast was upstairs, overlooking their beautiful backyard pool. We had a grest chat. I have been recommending thir airbnb to my friends.

Bethesda Place, an organization benefiting individuals with developmental disabilities, brings you this country home. Just outside of the city limits of Hays, you can see all of the stars on our 36-acre land. During the Spring and Summer, the land flourishes with flowers and our produce growing in our many gardens, and in the winter enjoy a wood burning stove. Inside our cozy little retreat, you will find yourself feeling like you never left home with our comfortable and welcoming amenities.
This 3 bedroom, one bath old farm home is located at the entrance of our tree nursery, providing you easy access from I-70 and privacy, as well as a unique opportunity to see the men who own and operate this agricultural non-profit at work in their element if you so desire.
The Retreat at Bethesda is located only 2 minutes off of I-70 exit 157. We are within walking distance to the Ellis County Fairgrounds and the RPM speedway. We are less than a 2 minute drive from the Bickle-Schmidt sports complex and 5 minutes to FHSU campus. This home provides a unique opportunity to "get away from it all" and be close to all the action for whatever event is bringing you to or through Hays.

  • Three friends stopped in at this home on a road trip across the country for one of the most pleasant surprises of the year! This endearingly quaint home offered us the most wonderful and uplifting experience on a very long drive. The home was impeccably clean and packed with every amenity. The beds (all four) were very comfortable and gave us some much needed space after being cramped in the car. This home is located on a beautiful farm with fresh produce, livestock, and a beautiful garden JUST OFF THE HIGHWAY! Our hosts were exceptionally attentive (yet kept their distance when we wanted space) and truly did everything they could to show us a good time. An added bonus is that this home is on a farm that works alongside/hosts an adult special needs cohort. There are uplifting photos and stories all around the house that were a great personal touch to our stay. All in all this was a fantastic 10/10 experience and I could not recommend this home more!

    David2017-05-12T00:00:00Z
  • The house was very clean and well furnished. The grounds were beautiful and the house is located right off the interstate. We wish we could have stayed longer but we were just passing through. We would stay here again!

  • My son and I enjoyed our stay at Bethesda place so very much. I enjoyed reading about the farm and the wonderful people living there. The house is spacious, with plenty of room for a whole family or several couples. When visiting, do take a tour of the farm.

Welcome to your house in Russell. This beautiful home, built in 1919 with wooden floors throughout, is your perfect hometown getaway. Completely renovated in 2017, it now accommodates up to 11 people in four bedrooms. The Mahoney House is located less than two miles from I-70 and one block from Main Street. This is an ideal retreat for individuals, couples, families and large groups visiting Russell.
The Mahoney house, built in 1919, is a well known home in Russell, KS. A little more than 2,000 square feet, this house was thoroughly renovated and updated in the winter of 2017. You'll enjoy a new gourmet kitchen with quartz counter tops and a gas stove. The main floor features a large, comfortable, well-appointed living room on the left, and an open kitchen and dining room on the right. In the living room, you'll find a 52" television with a cable package including local and national channels, ESPN, etc. Dining room has a table which can seat up to 10 people when the leaf is installed. A new bathroom with shower, and a laundry room with new appliances complete the downstairs. On the upper level you'll find four comfortably appointed bedrooms, three of which feature king size beds that can accommodate two guests in each. The last bedroom is designed for kids with two bunk beds: a full-over-full and a twin-over-twin, in addition to a twin trundle bed.
The Mahoney house is situated 1.8 miles from I-70 in a quiet, historic, residential neighborhood. The house is one block from Main Street and it's an easy walk to the downtown core where antique stores, the Dream Theater, Waudby's Bar and Grill, Espresso Etc. and many other specialty stores thrive. This is a safe neighborhood - our neighbors include the Chief of Police next door and two sheriffs deputies live on the a block. Our neighborhood watch is very thorough and effective. There are three bikes secured in the detached garage, available for use throughout your stay.
  • This stay was everything to love so when asked to pick what was the best feature, I could have clicked any one of them and been accurate. The house was immaculate but it didn't stop there. We lucked into Dustin being in town who provided additional host duties taking the opportunity to share his love for the artistic community in which this house is set. This was way more than a "stay". This is a we will be back - we're already booked. We were a group of 10 girlfriends on a get-away weekend. This provided beds for our heads but equally important to us, an easy way to fix food (dishes/pots/pans/appliances provided) and lounge/visit/play games when we wanted to. If you want more than just a stay, this is your place.

    Karin2017-12-03T00:00:00Z
  • This hone is gorgeous. A wonderful renovation to an older home. Comfort is been placed number one. The hosts have thought of everything! We highly recommend Mahoney House to any future potential guests.

  • This was a very comfortable, welcoming place for our family to gather together. We appreciate the cleanliness and availability to use all features to feel like you had your family at HOME. Great meeting place for us between Colorado and Missouri. Would recommend it to anyone just wanting to enjoy time with each other and be together.

  • Beautiful house with lots of attention to detail. My teenage nephews loved the standing bikes and I liked the regular bikes.

    Zoann2017-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • Dustin and Raef's place is so comfy! The beds are amazing. The kitchen is well-equipped and several people can work in it at the same time. There are lots of spaces for people to do separate activities. We spent a lot of time on the front porch because the weather was so beautiful.

    Jeanine2017-10-09T00:00:00Z
  • Stop looking and start booking. Whether you have a need to stay in Russell,KS or not plan your trip so that you can enjoy Dustin and Raef’s beautiful home. In fact if you just need to get away to a quite street in a quite town book this home. It’s a diamond in the rough and you won’t find another home with the same amenities. From top to bottom every detail is taken care of. Dustin and Raef are a pleasure to work with and they were very attentive to every question and concern. Bottom line the pictures do not do justice to just how nice of a home the Mahoney House is, you truely need to see it to believe it.

    Scott2017-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • The home is the perfect home-away from-home while staying in Russell. The kitchen is stocked with everything needed for a large family ~ friend event. The house is sparkling clean, the beds are comfy with high quality linens, and home is beautifully decorated...and the squeaky stairs add charm to the 100 year old home. We loved it

    Trudy2017-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • Not only is the Mahoney house sparkling clean and beautifully decorated, but Dustin and Raef had it decorated for Christmas to make it feel truly like a home away from home.

This is a home located in a very small, quiet community. It is the perfect location for hunting, fishing, or just getting away from it all. The decor is outdoor themed and rustic.
This home is located within 45 miles of three different reservoirs. There is a lot of walk in hunting available in the surrounding areas.
  • I just returned form a week long hunting trip in Kansas. It was me and 5 other guys, the home was well suited for us and we had more than enough space as well as amenities to be nice and comfortable after days in the field. Jodies husband Troy stopped by a few times and put us onto some great hunting spots as well! If you are going to be in the area i highly recommend booking here.

  • Some friends and I went up for a late season Waterfowl hunt, the location is good if you don’t mind a little bit of a drive to scout, but other than that the place is awesome and the WiFi is a huge bonus compared to so of the other places we have stayed at. The best part would have to be hands down the hospitality! Troy and Jodi are good midwestern people and are there to make sure your say is out of this world. I would highly recommend this place to anyone!

  • This was an awesome experience. Erin and Doug are super nice. They were very communicative and easy going. We had great conversation with them. It was so fun to watch a dairy farm at work. Petting the horses and cows was great. The bedroom and bathroom were nicer than at most AirBnB's we've stayed. The amenities were all very clean and new. Not to mention that there was high speed fiber internet on the premise! The farm breakfast was also delicious.

    Adam2016-07-01T00:00:00Z
  • Fresh flowers and a glass of wine with Erin werejust two examples of the wonderfuess of this stay! Very clean and taxsteful. Erin and Doug were perfect hosts. I would travel to Russell just to stay with them. Excellent choice

  • The ranch was awesome. Our stay was perfect. Very secluded and quiet. The hosts were very gracious and offered us wine. The horses and other animals on the farm were awesome. Room very comfortable as well. I would definitely recommend staying with them again!

  • Found this ranch as the halfway point between St. Louis & Denver; I'm so glad I did. Erin & Doug are excellent hosts, sociable/fun to talk with and provide the perfect experience. Their hospitality is on point. When I showed up a bit of a surprise, the didn't notify, they didn't skip a beat to accommodate me. Here's what to expect: At the end of a dirt road, perfect sunset drive. (If you reach the overgrown part of the road, you went too far. Not that that happened to me. But you know, it could happen to anybody. Right?) :x Friendly puppy. Two amazing, fully comprehensive hosts who are in tune with what you'd enjoy for your visit. (Drinks, food, good company.) Lovely cats with their own personalities and stories. Outside farmlife; Calves, Goat of Thrones, Flock of Chickens, and things that exist in nature - of course. Artfully decorated. The room I stayed in was very comfortable, bed and interior-wise. Fancy shower. Both room and bathroom were private for my use. If you're planning a trip for leisure, spend a few nights stargazing here. 10/10, will stay again in the future.

    Drew2017-09-05T00:00:00Z
  • My hosts couldn't have been more welcoming and informative. I thoroughly enjoyed staying in the home and the dearest surroundings. Picture the quietest most beautiful small farm with the friendliest people and animal friends. I know I will return as often as I am in the area.

    Adrienne2016-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • Very gracious, country setting, good directions, lots of stars, super-cool bathroom, convinced me that I really do need hens, great conversation, casual breakfast. We felt at home.

    Louise2015-11-01T00:00:00Z
  • My visit at the Saline River D Ranch was a wonderful experience. Even though it was a quick overnight on my way through Kansas, I arrived early enough to meet my hosts, their sweet dog Ava and the other farm animals and pets and then get into town for dinner and a concert Erin was singing in. The room was quite pretty, clean and comfortable. Erin and Doug were great hosts. It couldn't have been a nicer experience.

    Marti2015-07-25T00:00:00Z
  • Erin and Doug were great hosts! Their place was just as described -peaceful and quiet. Very relaxing after a long day on the road. We enjoyed a great breakfast and visiting with them before we left to continue our trip. We compared our airbnb experiences, as we are both hosts. We always miss our pets a lot when we're away, but getting to spend time with Emmy, Ava and the 2 kitties, as well as seeing the chickens and goats.....well, let's just say we got our animal fix ! :-) We'd definitely recommend this listing to our friends.

Lazy Cedars, a fully-equipped cozy cottage, can sleep 6+. Close to the Garden of Eden, Grassroots Art Center & 20 miles from Wilson Lake. Hunting and other outdoor activities abound. We are truly off the grid. My place caters to couples, solo adventurers, business travelers, families and furry friends. The house is designed with passive solar heat. The living room is the collector.
Is clean and comfortable cottage. Feeling lazy or engage in hunting this little cozy house is quiet and relaxing. Get unplugged from a hectic life stay with us. Laundry on sight and direct tv. Beds are made exactly perfect. I am teased about my OCD on beds. Fresh, crisp, hospital corners and clean.
Is very quite. Nature is close at hand. Deer play in the yard. Two creeks flow near the home. There is a large yard to play in. The cedar trees establish a micro gentle Kansas environment. Perfect for a family soccer or softball game or more sedate yard games.
  • Excellent value and location for our group of five birdhunters. The house was spotless and some nice homey touches. Would definitely stay there again.

  • Great drive out from where I came from. Super gorgeous. Her communication was amazing and she was extremely understanding with my situation. I originally booked this home a weekend prior and was unable to make it, and she was able to reschedule and work with me.

    Sierra2017-04-16T00:00:00Z
  • Communication was very fast and good but the place was a bit hard to find since the house in at the end of an alleyway and there was no number (neither a mailbox) on the street. I live in a house from the 12th century so I know how old can look dirty. But here it was so dirty that I didn't even want to wash myself or cook there. The towels, bathroom and all amenities except for the beds looked like they had just been used by the previous guests and not cleaned up. The neighborhood is very quiet, I'm a light sleeper and I could sleep for the first time without earplugs since I am in the US. It's a great value since I stayed there on my own, but if you are with a group, it might get expensive for what it is as they charge per person.

  • The four men in our family who stayed at the Lazy Cedars last week were all very pleased with the accommodations. We were hunting and it was very cold this past week. The house was always toasty warm and comfortable when we returned at the end of each day afield. Even more important, Joann was the most hospitable and accommodating host we had ever met. She did several special things for us, including letting us check in a bit early, and, tending to our ailing birddog. Both the house and she made our trip to Kansas all the more special. Thank you, Joann, for all you did to make us feel at home and welcome. Jim, Mike, Brad and Wayne

  • We never saw Paul personally, but the entire experience was wonderful, and we had excellent communication with him leading up to and throughout our stay. The house was incredibly comfortable and was wonderful to stay in. Paul and his wife are brand new airbnb-ers and we can tell that they are constantly working to make the experience as awesome as possible for the people who stay there. One thing that is important to note (it's listed in the amenities, but I missed it by not looking closely at that section) is that there is not wifi at the house (at this point, anyways). So if that's important to you, keep that in mind. But in our case, it was SO nice to use that as an excuse to unplug and focus on connecting in person - rather than being absorbed in our phones. The neighborhood felt safe and was incredibly quiet, and we went on many walks (even though it was chilly!). We enjoyed watching a DVD on the big TV in the living room, and cooked many meals in the kitchen. This listing was everything we needed it to be, and we look forward to coming back to stay again sometime in the future. It's a convenient half-way point between Kansas City and Denver, so if we ever want to meet friends somewhere in the middle ever again, we will definitely be staying at Paul's house in Ness City!

This four bedroom ranch in the heart of the Midwest has all of the comforts of home! You have the entire property to yourself, complete with a fully appointed kitchen and laundry room. The exterior of the house boasts a large back yard and covered patio for relaxing. One claim to fame for Ness City is the Historic Ness County Bank building that you will find pictures of in the dining room. I would be happy to arrange a Free tour of this building as I am a member of the Bank Building Foundation.
We have a great downtown in Ness City with most of the downtown businesses full. We have some awesome local restaurants, a great grocery store as well as other specialty businesses downtown. We would love for you to shop our local downtown businesses!
This is a small rural community our town is one big neighborhood. You will find neighbors quiet and reserved most of the time.
  • Great cozy place in the heart of Kansas. Full kitchen with anything you might need. Had a very nice relaxing night.

  • Thanks for the suggestion to eat at Cuppa Joe for lunch(open weekdays only), the best lunch spot in the entire world, no joke. My group of hunters enjoyed our stay! All the kitchen fixins one would need. Good towels, plenty of hot water for showers, good beds. Wouldn’t hesitate to stay there again. They thought of providing so many of the “little things” for the weary traveler that you can tell they genuinely care about their guests and want them to enjoy their stay.

  • Great place to stay in Ness City. Brent and his wife met us and checked us in. They provided tips on places to eat and other local things to check out. House was very clean and laid out. If you need a place to stay for 5-6 hunters, this is the place.

    Aaron2017-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • A group of us were in town to bird hunt. Brent's place worked out perfectly, everyone got their own room and had plenty of space. We grilled steaks one night, and ate at a really good Mexican food restaurant on Brent's recommendation. Brent met us at the house when we checked in and is a super nice guy. He even gave us some good Walk In Hunting Access(WIHA) spots to check out. I will definitely stay here again, as it is in a great location for hunting.

  • Rented the place for our Shearers. Perfect for them and they were happy!

  • Home away from home. The house is located in a quiet neighborhood and is well appointed with everything to make you feel at home. Brent and Jean are exceptional hosts. I look forward to a return visit.

  • A jewel of a find just two miles off I-70. Scenically set along the railroad in the small town of Wilson, Kansas. All my expectations were met and exceeded. The check-in was fast and efficient which gave me more time to head to their tavern for a drink and a delicious meal after a long day of driving. For the wine lover, they have a deep selection of cellared wines to choose from... After my meal I retired to my clean quiet room, had a comfortable rest and loved hearing the train roll through town on its way to the horizon..

  • Beautiful restoration.

    Rebecca2017-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • What a lovely, little hidden gem of a town! Make sure to find the brochure with the walking tour of Wilson, KS. It's truly a step back in time. The hotel was beautifully appointed and full of history. My sleep was not quite as peaceful as I'd hoped, but the reasons for this were entirely excusable. First, I was awakened by a train that came by around 2:30am. I am an exceptionally light sleeper, though, and this may not be an issue for some people. Second, the heat had already been switched to AC, because temps went up in the 80s the week before my stay, and I imagine the owner didn't anticipate mother nature giving us temperatures in the 30s the night that I stayed. Fortunately, there was a kind man at the front desk that located an extra blanket and space heater for me, so the rest of my sleep was much more comfortable. My breakfast of farm-fresh hard-boiled eggs and fruit was delicious, and the coffee was nice and strong. I look forward to staying here again with my family later this summer.

    Monica2017-04-27T00:00:00Z
  • We didn't meet Karen, but the staff at the hotel are very welcoming and helpful. It was a pleasant step-back-in-time stop on our journey east. We enjoyed a great meal in the restaurant downstairs, and then had a good night sleep.

    TY & Pat2016-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • Tina and the hotel were amazing ! It was a such a relaxing place to stay and I was very excited to be in such a unique, cozy place for the night! Highly recommend!

    Deana2017-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • Our room had minimalist, comfortable arts and crafts decor and was extremely quiet. The Midland is pleasant and walkable to a general store and Wilson's neighborhoods and amenities. We appreciated being able to have a drink from the bar in the basement; we were there too late to drink on the patio, but it looked fabulous! I would strongly recommend this spot to any travelers passing through this part of Kansas.

  • This listing is one of the best Airbnb's that our team has stayed at. It is a clean, beautiful and unique lodge. The host has stocked the house with anything that you may need, and then some. We had one question and the host answered it within minutes. We felt extremely comfortable and plan to stay again if in the area. Will be referring to friends and family.

  • Kristy was an amazing hostess. She answered each question promptly and the lodge was ready for us when we arrived. She had everything we could possibly need available. We were in the area for the Fort Hays State University graduation. It was perfect for our family and I highly recommend it to for that or any other purpose. Couldn't be happier!

    Donna2016-05-15T00:00:00Z

  • This place is wonderful! Absolutely beautiful area and Kristy is awesome at giving all of the details! Stayed here for a race and it was 2 miles from the track. Great location for us. Had everything we needed and more. Beds were very comfortable. Beats a hotel by a long shot! Everything was very clean and easy to find.

This house has lots of windows to see outside. The bedroom and bed are very comfortable. The entrance has an area to play. The house is close to many restaurants, for example, Applebees and Perkins' restaurant. Many stores selling food and clothing are close to home with much that is done. The house does not have a washer and dryer, but there is a laundry near the house.
The building is 35 square meters, and very functional at the same time. The house has a bedroom and a clean bathroom. The bedroom and bathroom is upstairs, and the kitchen and living room are downstairs. We allow small pets, but they have to sleep outside. Guests can cook, sleep, and play in the house. We allow children if they are good.

Studio type guest house. One large room. Full bath, living area, cable and a half kitchen. Access to grill and relaxing pond with dock and fountain.

  • Nice and quiet, out in the country. See the stars at night. Take advantage of the natural sunlight with their spacious windows and french doors. Melissa was flexible with our check in, when we had last minute changes.

    Deborah2018-01-28T00:00:00Z
  • Aaron and Melissa's place was just as described and exactly what we needed. We frequently visit family in Larned and really enjoyed having a quiet and roomy place to come back to that also welcomed our dog. Our schedule kept us from meeting Aaron and Melissa, but their three dogs were great hosts. We will most likely be back next time we visit Kansas!

  • Nice quiet space and location allowed me to justify taking the less traveled roads on my way home to Colorado. Best part was the blast my 1 year old pup had getting to know brave dog-friendly cats and playing with their dogs (although keep an eye on them as he did almost get lost by following them to a nearby farm and getting left behind there.) Friendly hosts!

    Guzz2016-10-16T00:00:00Z
  • The apartment is actually in an old renovated school. So unique! It's about 2 blocks from the Midland Railroad Hotel where the included breakfast is served. I loved the town of Wilson. It's so quaint and cute -a quintessential small town. Such a great find. We liked it so mich that on our drive back through Kansas, we decided to stay again.

    Lori2017-07-10T00:00:00Z
  • Wilson - the Czech Capital of Kansas.. and not much else. If you book the apartments, they are about a 3 block drive from the hotel (which is not listed on the reservation.) It's not horrible, but it's not the most convenient. For a one night stay - it was sufficient, but the hotel restaurant was closed for an event, leaving two diners for food options - "From Scratch", which was neither from scratch nor worth our time - and "Grandma's Soda shop", which (in hind sight, after eating some of the continental breakfast at the hotel from there) we should have tried. Communication was not "within the hour", so if you are booking day of you might be better off looking at a Hotel in Hays. Overall not a bad place, just set your expectations low and be pleasantly surprised when they are met ;)
