“One of the UK's oldest cinemas! Cottage Road was a motor garage back in the day but is still a vintage cinema run by a Leeds family.”

Italian Restaurant

“Now considered a Headingley institution, Salvo's first opened its doors in 1976 and has been packing in customers ever since for it's great buzzy atmosphere, friendly service and a wonderful selection of traditional and more contemporary Mediterranean cuisine. Regularly featured in the Good Food Guide, Salvo's is a former Yorkshire Evening Post Family Restaurant of the Year and after 30 years continues to receive plaudits from numerous prestigious national publications. Salvo's has been voted one of the top Italian Restaurants in the UK by The Sunday Times, The Times, Olive Magazine and The Observer, and in October 2009 Salvo's won Best Local Italian Restaurant on Gordon Ramsay's programme 'The F Word'. As Salvo's has recently celebrated its 38th Birthday it shows no signs of slowing down and remains the archetypal Italian Neighbourhood Restaurant. ”

Café
“Its just great food and you can take your own booze in free! Can't fault it and resonably priced - sits next to a fancy hipster style resturant (Heaney and Mill) I know which I'd prefer. Book as it's always full.”

“Once you've been to Aldi to get the basics, go to Waitress for the special treats. Beautiful, huge Waitreose in Meanwood for the fine and rare whiskies, fresh baked baguettes, cave-matured cheddar and all the good stuff!”

Restaurant
“This is a lovely friendly place which serves small plates of beautifully cooked italian food. I particularly reccommend the rabbit and panchetta stew, the fried zuccini with mint and the smoked haddock dish but all the dishes are delicious and prepared fresh in front of you in the kitchen at the end of the bar. You can sit and eat at the bar which is a nice choice if you're on your own. ”

“If you're into coffee, don't miss this one! Great sandwiches as well, with lots of homemade and locally sourced ingredients. Doubles as art space, with a cool shop on the ground floor and an intimate Art Gallery on the first floor. They also run lots of creative workshops and courses on evenings and at weekends. Great place!”
