  • Maxine's cottage was much bigger than what it looks like in the photos. We had a wonderful stay, the shower is fantastic, the beds are extremely comfortable and Maxine is a wonderful host.

    Jessica2017-04-09T00:00:00Z
  • Maxine was an incredible host and went the extra mile to make us feel welcome, printing out bus routes and schedules for a visit to Nottingham, suggesting a soft play place for my son to visit, and providing us with a delicious selection of food. Being pet friendly was also a big plus for us.

    Neil2016-11-02T00:00:00Z
  • We had an absolutely fantastic stay at Maxine's place. It's a beautiful place, done out to the highest standards and she went to great efforts to make our stay perfect, thinking of everything we might need. Really couldn't fault the place or Maxine as a host! Thanks so much, Maxine!

  • Beautiful home and a wonderful host - highly recommended!

    Paul2017-07-05T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful thoughtfully designed home with everything required for a stay in Eastwood. The host was kind and approachable for both adults and children. All of the beds were comfortable and warm, in a safe secure home with a lovely patio area. Parking was easily found close to the property on roadside or in a pay and display car park. The property was also close to public transport into Nottingham. We really enjoyed our stay and are looking forward to visiting again.

  • This place is exactly what is described and more. So much attention to detail with the little extras, to make you feel so comfortable Maxine explains everything very clearly and a very good host. Would definitely stay again.

    Sharon2017-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • I found the place to be very good with Maxine providing a great array of breakfast items on arrival and the offer for top ups as needed. Decor as described on website; shower very good. Very helpful host. Everything you need for a stay away from home.

  • Perfect place for us. Exactly as described, spotlessly clean and well equipped. Easy to park (free). Tescos is just round the corner, (lots of places to eat too). Great communication and easy check in.

  • Clean and tidy, nice shower.

    Kate2017-11-26T00:00:00Z
  • At first it was a little tricky to find the main entrance but we just gave Eyad a call and he helped us! The apartment was suitable for our needs - to sleep! There is a big Tesco a 2 minute walk away which is handy, and lots of takeaways nearby too. We left a watch in the room which Eyad kindly notified us about so we could collect it. The apartment did however smell strongly of smoke which for two non-smokers was quite unpleasant.

  • Eyad is easily contactable. He was responsive. The location is also good. There are plenty of shops and eateries nearby. The proximity of Aldi and Tesco, which are within walking distance, is a great plus. The room we had was also presentable. What we did not like was the road noise. We stayed for 2 nights and we find it difficult to sleep with the constant vehicle passing the road directly below us. The free parking indicated was also a public parking a street away, not a lot within the property as we had hoped. Also, we had issues when we arrived. We followed the check-in instructions Eyad provided, however, our allocated room which we booked almost a month ahead was given to someone else, which we weren’t informed. When we tried to get into the alternative room, we found the room not cleaned and had to wait a while for the room to be cleaned and prepared. This marred our experience. That said, Eyad was apologetic and handled the situation calmly.

  • Eyad was a good host and was quick to help when we called.

    Oliver2017-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • Had a great stay, nice, clean & comfortable. Eyad was very attentive and accommodating. Recommended!

    Steve2017-07-24T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely clean little flat. Everything we needed for our brief visit. We had no main issues. Only slight noise from neighbouring flats during the night, due to no fault of Eyad's. There was towels, shower gel and hand wash kindly left for us. There was a microwave, little hob and kettle including necessary cutlery. Even had Tv with NOW TV accessible. Would recommend. Thanks for a great stay.

  • The place is basic, clean and reasonably comfortable. Sleeps 4 max realistically. The pictures make it seem a bit more spacious than it is, but if you are looking for a reasonably priced base for an evening out it Nottingham/Derby it does the trick.

    Cathryn2017-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • The host answered all our messages instantly! The place is clean but basic. The sofa beds are not comfortable, we tried both. The proper bed in the bedroom is fine. Note the 2 narrow staircases to access the flat if you have many luggages. The place is fine for the price. The self check in was convenient to arrive anytime.

    Mélanie2017-12-30T00:00:00Z

    Dhiya2017-11-18T00:00:00Z

  • Eyad's flat is brand new and clean. Our stay was comfortable and Eyad and his wife were very warm and friendly, and were available at all times. They were very open to suggestions and ideas, being new hosts on Airbnb. Do note that there are two flights of stairs you need to climb to get to the house and the path is quite narrow. The place is about half an hour's drive from Matlock Bath, choose this place if you are not too fussed about luxury.

My place is close to Derby, Nottingham, M1, family-friendly activities, nightlife, restaurants and dining, public transport. It's a great place for couples, solo adventurers, and business travellers. The village is also peaceful in the evenings.
  • The bedroom and bathroom were lovely and the bed was very comfortable. As we were staying for 3 nights we could have done with somewhere to hang our clothes but for a one night stay it would be fine. Julie and her husband were very friendly and welcoming but could have been clearer as to what was available for breakfast. Overall an enjoyable stay.

  • I had a very relaxing stay at Julies' lovely farmhouse in Smalley. Julie and her partner made me feel relaxed straight away. We ate together and I was shown around the house, which is steeped in history. The bed was very comfortable and everything else was as described. Overall, a very pleasant stay. I will definitely stay again if in the area,

  • Julie and her husband Max own a beautiful and quite a big farm house in Smalley, Nottingham. One evening, we were warmly welcome by them and led by Max to our bed room, bath room, dining hall and kitchen. As advised by them, we could eat all stuff in kitchen and feel free to take any drinks from fridge. Not long after, they invited us to watch movie 'Taken 3' with them and their daughter Amy. They are all friendly and nice. Besides them, a big malamute dog came near and showed his friendliness too! And there was an adorable cat, loved to be petted by us. That night we had indeed a sound sleep in the comfy bed. And the house was clean and tidy everywhere! On the next morning, we were served with milk, juice and bread. Had a good communication with Julie and Amy. But there was no sight of Max because he has gone to work early in the morning. We really miss Max, he was such a nice guy! Julie brought us to her big and beautiful garden, planted with a lot of charming flowers. We chatted and taking photos together happily! We loved very much their malamute dog, which was lovely and obedient to his master and friendly to us. We should say we were unwilling to leave this house and we hope we can stay with this family again! Therefore, we highly recommend to anyone who happen to drop by Nottingham!

    Ken2016-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at Julie's for one night prior to Download festival. They were very welcoming and couldn't have been more friendly. Lovely room and the highlight was their very gorgeous dog! Would definitely return

  • Liz and her husband were very nice, they welcome me when I arrived and showed me the room. It was very clean, the bed was very comfortable and the house and area invite you to rest. I was able to have some dinner in the room and go to sleep almost immediately. Brinsley is beautiful, and the horses around the house give you a sense to have a deep contact with nature than only contemplate the amazing English countryside. I definitely recommend Liz's home if you want to visit Derby.

Getting into Nottingham is very straightforward. The hosts are excellent- helpful; prompt communication; and were in touch before our stay and during to check everything was ok. I would definitely highly recommend this house to others.

  • Stayed at this property after a viewing previously. I needed somewhere to stay whilst having my own house decorated plus new flooring laid. My daughter has a hearing disorder and cannot tolerate lots of noise. I needed somewhere that would be in a quiet location. This property ticked all the boxes. Although it is a mid terrace house the street and neighbours are very quiet. The property itself is very comfortable with a well fitted kitchen. There is WIFI and freeview channels on TV plus DVD player. It is an excellent location for travel as the motorway is nearby. Local amenities are good with a 24 hour Tesco a 5 minute walk plus a small retail park nearby with a Marks and Spencer food hall. I didn't visit the local town shops so cannot comment on what is available. The welcome pack at the house gives lots of information regarding what to do in the area. Very enjoyable stay and definitely booking again next year.

The Secret Sanctuary is ideal for a romantic break for two people where you can relax with the deer and the wildlife of this unique position set amid a bluebell wood. The Cottage dates from 1871 and was part of a hunting lodge.
The Cottage dates from 1871 and was part of a hunting lodge built by the 7th Earl Cowper in part of old Sherwood Forest. The Cottage is Grade II * Listed and was converted from the Grooms' quarters, the harness room and the scullery for the old kitchen. The former stables, coach house and Kitchen to Beauvale House, are also now converted to a character homes. The Cottage is part of the North wing of the imposing Beauvale House with its Victorian folly 90ft Hunting Tower, high above the wood. Beauvale House retains a strong connection with the writings of DH Lawrence, with many of the characters supposedly based on staff and residents of Beauvale at the turn of the 19th/20th century. The game keeper's cottage now lies derelict in the nearby woodland and the red gate (of Lady Chatterley's Lover fame) remains in the walled garden of Beauvale House. The Accommodation The Cottage has Central Heating, a double bedroom with King size pine bed and washed pine and Shabby Chic furniture with leaded windows overlooking Beauvale House. The Bathroom is on the same floor with a walk in Shower with sink and toilet. On the ground floor there is a split level living area with a raised dining area suitable for 4 people with a church pew built into the alcove and bench seating round a pine table. The lounge retains the wood panelling of the original harness room and saddlery and now has a modern sofa and club chair, with a table on a traditional stone floor. Freesat satellite TV is available with Free Wireless Broadband from BT, subject to local conditions. The kitchen is reached up stone stairs from the living area and is actually the old scullery to Beauvale House with high vaulted ceilings. The kitchen is hand crafted with a large Belfast sink but retains modern appliances, fridge/freezer, electric oven and gas hob, microwave and washer dryer. Kitchen utensils, crockery and cutlery are all provided. The kitchen windows look out over the inner courtyard. The entrance to the Cottage is from the inner courtyard through a large church style gothic door. A parking area for two cars is 30 metres away, there is a fenced garden area to the front of the cottage with table and chairs.
Moorgreen reservoir has public footpaths that skirt the lake and enter the woodland which runs to the North and rolling farm land. There is a circular walk around the reservoir and through the woodland (5 Miles). The self catering accomodation is only available on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights. Ideally situated for touring Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire. In the heart of D H Lawrence country.
  • We had a fantastic stay at The Secret Sanctuary. John and Valerie were there to greet us when we arrived, and were so hospitable that we felt comfortable straight away (their gift of a bottle of red and home-made bread & mince pies helped too). The cottage is elegantly decorated and very cosy. Being deep in a beautiful wood, it was in a perfect location from which to head off on long walks. We look forward to returning again in the future.

  • Lovely stay at Johns place . We were greeted by John when we arrived and shown around the house , which was a lovely being made to feel very welcome . We were also provided with home baked bread , fresh fruit , milk in the fridge and bottle of wine were a very welcome addition . The house is very cosy , with lots of interesting pieces of furniture, pictures and ornaments . Perfect surroundings to see in the new year. The surrounding woodland and fields were perfect for a New Years eve walk too . Would defiantly recommend this place for a romantic get away to others.

  • Hosts were lovely. The place was comfy and quiet. They provided a lovely loaf of bread for us. The only thing I could possibly think to critique would be that it would have been nice to have real coffee/tea instead of instant/herbal. oh, and butter or jam for the bread but i'm just getting greedy now :)

  • I found it a little difficult to locate the house, I parked in the co op car park and walked down the drive behind the car park. The street numbering is not obvious. Friendly folk and an easy place to feel relaxed.

  • Michelle is a warm, approachable, kind and relaxed host and was very accommodating to my needs of being at a conference. It was lovely to be greeted by the dogs Jake, Milo and Ollie. I was given a towel and a bottle of water for my room and was offered tea and coffee. Thank you Michelle!

  • I received a very warm welcome including tea. The bedroom was clean and comfortable and I was welcome to use the kitchen and living room. The location was ideal for a course I was attending. I was travelling by public transport and the bus from Nottingham stops across the road from the house. There is a small Co-op store a couple of minutes away which was very handy for supplies during my stay.

The house is recently redecorated in a colourful modern style. The room has a double bed with new mattress and overlooks the back of the house, so it's very quiet. Sizeable bathroom with bathtub & shower. Use of the kitchen with tea, coffee etc provided. Breakfast available on request. Lounge with TV, dining room, patio and deck. Close to local bus links to Nottingham and Derby and station with regular trains to Nottingham, Sheffield and Leeds. Canalside walk/cycle path 2 mins walk away.
We provide a warm welcome, and speak English, French, Italian and (some) Arabic. We can provide breakfast at a small charge if required.
Ilkeston is a fairly large and lively town with shops and lots of pubs & cafes. The house is a 2-minute walk from the delightful Erewash canal with many charming properties and a number of pubs backing onto it; a popular route for canal boats in the summer - and a few year-round canal boat dwellers - the canal toepath has recently been upgraded as a cycle path and footpath.

South-facing guest room with a view, private bathroom and breakfast! Dan and Steve have welcomed guests from all over the world and their house particularly popular with business people (short/long stay) and tourists -anyone needing somewhere clean, safe and friendly to stay really!
The guest room and private bathroom are located next to each other on the first floor. Dan & Steve’s room is on the second floor and the cats sleep on the landing, so you’ve basically got a floor to yourself! The bedroom comes with a double bed, TV with Free View, small desk, upcycled 1950s drawers, an arm chair to chill out in, hangers on the back of the door, plenty of lamps to set the mood, arguably too many scatter cushions on the bed, plenty of plug sockets, full-length mirror, jar of sweets and a bottle of water. Dan is happy to provide extra towels, shower gels, a fan, hairdryer or anything else you might need that I’ve got, upon request. The bathroom has a full-sized bathtub with a shower and it’s all yours! There’s a non-slip shower matt for you to use, plenty of loo roll and all the towels you’ll need.
Leafy suburb of Nottingham, backing onto fields and only a few minutes from all the main supermarkets and popular chain restaurants. We also have 2 friendly cats!
  • Dan was an amazing host. He was so kind, helped us with everything, made a breakfast for us. The whole house was luxury, so was our room and a private bathroom. The neighbourhood was quiet and peaceful. Five minutes drive to IKEA and shopping center. Great experience, I would come back. I can really recommend.

We have recently finished converting our barn into a light and clean holiday home, ideal for families or a group of friends. Set in the village of Holbrook which has great access to both the city centres of Derby and Nottingham or the beautiful countryside within the Peak District national park. Holbrook also offers a local shop, post office and two real ale pubs, all within a two minute walk.
A converted barn on a non-working farm, next door to our family home. We are on the out skirts of an amazing village with excellent amenities, shop, 3x pubs, cafe, post office.... Holbrook is also a great base for walking, cycling and trips to the Peak District
We have the village shop 100m down the road and two real ale pubs not much further away. In addition we have the community owned Spotted Cow pub and Spotted Calf Cafe 10 minutes walk away, all of which give Holbrook a great village feel. Holbrook is a sited on a hill so the views can be spectacular. There are also some great walks that go through our village taking you to the nearby Little Eaton, Milford and Duffield.
  • Excellent accommodation, highly recommended!

  • Boothswood Barn is a lovely place to stay. It's newly renovated and beautifully furnished, so clean, comfortable and well equipped. Lizzie is a great host and was warm and welcoming. Our only regret was that we didn't stay longer!

    Steve2017-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • We had such a relaxed peaceful time. We loved exploring the Derbyshire countryside & interacting with the chickens, horses & Elvis the cat. Lizzie & Caroline we so welcoming, even making sure there was a thoughtful welcome gift of special Gluten Free cake & biscuits! We felt so privileged to be amongst some of the first guests to visit Boothswood Barn! The cottage is gorgeous, thoughtfully & beautifully appointed & decorated, cosy, comfy & homely. We look forward to returning soon!

    melissa2017-07-11T00:00:00Z
  • Really lovely and comfortable place. Super clean, easy to find and everything was working and set out as expected. Felt like a home from home and due to the weather we enjoyed chilling out at the barn all weekend. Walked round the corner to a nice pub and it was a nice and quiet spot in the countryside.

    Sara2017-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • What a lovely place to stay! You won't be disappointed. The barn was very modern inside, plenty of room for 4 adults plus our little dog! It is worth a walk to The Spotted Cow local pub! Communication with the owner was really easy.

    Leanne2017-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • This place is fab! Lovely decor and very well equipped. Comfortable beds and bed-settee. Plenty of space and storage. Also, the locality is ideal - a well-stocked inexpensive corner shop less than 5 mins walk away, 3 pubs (including community owned Spotted Cow) and daytime Cafe (Spotted Calf) within 10 mins walk. A quiet countryside village but easy access from A38. Ideal.

    Angie2017-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • This is the perfect place for a cozy break away. It's near enough to the local sights but secluded enough to feel like you're in the middle of nowhere. In terms of amenities, I've stayed in some airbnb's that have things like shower gel, cotton buds etc. This isn't one of them so make sure you bring everything you need. There were some lovely biscuits on arrival which was a nice treat. The day before we left the host messaged us to say that we didn't need to rush out in the morning which was nice. Overall, lovely place and great communication. Definitely recommend!

    Leanne2017-11-26T00:00:00Z
  • What beautiful place!! This spacious, BnB was fantastically decorated with modern furniture, a very comfortable bed, with wonderful linens. Located in the English countryside and village of Holbrook. A beautiful view, with peace and quiet. The property has parking if you decide to hire a car!The host Lizzie is a wonderful Lady, whom we enjoyed chatting with most mornings! Anything we needed, it was easy to get in touch with her. All the appliances worked well, as we prepared our meals and did laundry during our stay. Walking distance to the local pubs, and small grocery store, was easy!! The road had moderate traffic, leading to quiet nights. If having a relaxing time in a quiet country retreat, this place IS the place to stay!! We plan on coming back again, as it was centrally located to our family who live in the Derbyshire area. See you soon, Lizzie! Thanks again! Dana and Nancy

  • The room is spacious and clean and great for a weekend stay. There is a fridge and a kettle which was really useful and Christian gave us some milk, which was appreciated. If in the area in the future would stay here again, the price was excellent and good value for money.

  • It is a cost little haven.

    Gloria2017-10-26T00:00:00Z
  • A clean and comfortable room. I stayed hear when on a work trip. The adjacent pub has some great ales. The room had a few teething problems as it had only just opened, but Christian is very helpful and approachable and sorted the problems.

  • The accommodation is perfect and ideal for a short break. The food is very good in the pub itself and also in the cafe at the side of the pub. Well worth a visit. Excellent choice of real ale and good food

  • This is a spacious, newly decorated and newly furnished ensuite room with its own private entrance. The pub below serves a good selection of real ale, as do the other two pubs in the village, as well as a good range of food. Attached to the pub is an excellent cafe. The location is convenient for many of Derbyshire's attractions and there are numerous walking opportunities from the door.

  • A spacious and very comfortable room. It is not directly above the bar so is reasonably quiet. A very friendly community pub, the room is worth using just for The Spotted Cow.

  • So many good things to say! I traveled with my wife Yelena on this trip, so this review is from both of us. Elaine was quick with her response when we made a booking request and flexible when we needed to make a change. She sent clear instructions to find the property. Upon arrival Elaine and her husband John created us with their fantastic animals, who are well-behaved, but very friendly. Elaine allows as much or as little contact as the guest desires, and also takes care to keep the guest rooms "animal free", so not a worry for folks with allergies or other concerns. Concerning the property - a beautiful home and garden with expansive views of the highland. The home is modern, bright and very clean. This really is 4-star hotel style accommodation with a comfortable bed, modern and efficient plumbing in the bathroom and complimented by cable TV and internet wi-fi. And, Elaine provided a "welcome" of tasty cupcakes and provided glasses and cups for tea or coffee in the room - very nice. Breakfast choices were numerous - we had full british breakfast. Served on lovely china in the dining room - extremely tasty and beautifully served. One last note - I left my iPhone in the room, and only discovered this after departing. We received an e-mail from Elaine within a couple of minutes of departing notifying me that I'd left the phone and reassuring it was there for safekeeping, and even offering to post it us if we'd already traveled too far. Fortunately, we hadn't and we returned to collect it. Overall, Elaine and John were exceptional hosts. We heartily recommend their B&B for a relaxing, fun holiday. We hope we'll be able to return!!

  • A lovely place with lovely hosts. You will find this a welcoming and most helpful environment. Both Elaine and John went out of their way to help us with places to eat, local sites to visit and trip advice all provided with great interest in us as guests and individuals. If you let them know your interests they will help you customize a delightful experience.

    Moore2013-08-15T00:00:00Z
  • The host was very welcoming and concerned for our needs. The room was clean, modern, and well-appointed. The gardens were large and attractive and we were free to walk in them. It is in an out-of-the way place, but that also made it quiet.

    Peggy2015-05-24T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful time here at Elaine's. She and her husband have a beautiful bed and breakfast in a stunning country side setting. The accommodations were superb, clean, welcoming and Elaine and her husband were very helpful in giving tips for local things to do and see. They even printed us a coupon for Dayton Manor, which they knew we were going. Excellent experience all the way around. And Elaine makes a wonderful breakfast to start your day off right. And her homemade cupcakes are not to be missed! We would highly recommend staying if you are ever in the area!

    Stacy2012-06-05T00:00:00Z
  • Elaine and John are exceptional hosts and makes you feel at home the minute you arrive. Elaine not only catered for our specialist dietary needs but pushed her own culinary capacity to provide gluten free food for us. He cheese scones were beautiful. Fantastic property and location. We will be returning as well as sending friends the way of Rookery Nook

  • Upon arrival at Elaine and John’s place we were given the warmest of welcomes into their beautiful home in a country village. They both exemplified the country hospitality of settling you within the family fold with drink, food, introduction to other members of the household including the dog and cat plus every little detail was included in your large room for all needs. We had excellent Wi-Fi speed and it wasn’t too far to the pubs, restaurants and attractions in the area. With the home backing on to rural land it was very peaceful particularly at night when you can almost touch the stars. We know that with Elaine’s excellent cooking skills they will be hard to beat for a break in the country.

    Janine2011-09-13T00:00:00Z
  • Our family had a wonderful stay at Elaine and John's B&B! They went out of their way to help us with anything that we needed while we were visitng the area and staying with them. We stayed three nights and had a very relaxing stay. They have a beautiful home. Elaine is a great cook, and always made sure that we didn't leave for our daily English countryside exporing trips without a hearty breakfast. Several shopping areas, estate homes/mansions, and restaurants/pubs nearby. I highly recommend this B&B for a relaxing "home away from home", whether you're looking for a weekend away from the city, or you're traveling through the country - it's definitely worth a stop. This was our best AirBnB experience!

  • Lovely large spacious house in excellent location neighbours very nice would highly recommend

  • The house is huge. The driveway is big enough for 3 cars. Fantastic lounge and kitchen area. Garden is also nice. Location is excellent. It was taking us an average of 5-7 minutes by car to get to Nottingham downtown. Very responsive host. We enjoyed our stay. Happy to recommend this property and host.

  • Unfortunately Duncan had to change our original booking to a slightly different house which was rather close to our check in date. Although this did not cause too much of an issue it was slightly annoying. Him communication with me through the change was quick and efficient. Also when we arrived the Wi-Fi wasn't working but Duncan and co did his best to rectify this problem. Apart from that the place was adequate for what we needed.

Our beautiful home with lots of original features is perfectly placed to explore the surrounding countryside or major shopping centres in the Midlands. Only 15 mins from the Peak District. 40 mins from Sherwood Forest. 20 mins from Nottingham and Sheffield. 15 mins from the centre of Derby.
If you are looking for an idyllic rural village location..... this isn't it! BUT, if you need a spacious home and garden that has great communication links to all the main attractions in Derbyshire, Nottingham and Yorkshire then you've found the right place. Our home will sleep up to 8 people - 2 in the master bedroom - 2 in the 2nd bedroom (one standard single bed and a shorter single bed) - 2 in the third bedroom are bunk beds - 2 in the lounge on a double sofa bed. There is also a downstairs toilet. Well behaved non shedding dogs are allowed.
Our lane is the best kept secret in Somercotes. It's semi rural with farmers fields at the end, has no through traffic which keeps it nice and quiet and I have the best neighbours for miles around. We have all lived here for years as it's very safe for our children to explore and play. The best local pubs are not really local and require a car but here they are:- The Steampacket, Derby Rd, Swanwick, DE55 1AB, 01773 607771, 2 miles away. Good real ales. The Dog, Main Rd, Pentrich DE5 3RE , 01773 513360. 3 miles away. Country pub set in the lovely village of Pentrich. Food better than standard pub grub and nicely decorated. Waggon and Horses, 9 King St, Alfreton, DE55 7AF 01773 545 890 is the nearest Weatherspoons. There are 3 pubs within walking distance (15mins) of my house and are real working men's pubs. I've only been to one called The Moulders Arms, 53 Church St, Riddings. Known locally as the Thack its a bit old fashioned in decor but has a good selection of beer. They do pipe local radio on the speakers though which we find a bit strange!
  • we enjoyed a wonderful stay at the home of Claudia. All we needed was in the house, great kitchen lounge and garden. Quiet location, but close to shops, motorway etc.

  • The location of the house was perfect for getting around the area. It was clean and comfortable with lovely views. Excellent value a we were a fairly large group of 7 people. the host made sure we had all the information we required and it was very good to have the flexibility of self catering and coming and going when we wished.

  • Wonderful large family home with huge garden. Perfect for us as 6 adults and a 2 year old. Bedrooms are all really good sizes and a good sized kitchen and front room. The house was well equipped with everything we needed, we felt at home straight away, an absolute bargain!

  • Firstly the location for visiting the Peak District and Alton Towers was ideal. The house is lovely, very welcoming with homely décor. It is clean and tidy. The bedrooms are nice and comfy and the kitchen well laid out and equipped. The overall size of the house and garden is great for the larger family.

  • Great communication with Claudia, and a lovely welcoming tea and biscuits which the boys especially appreciated very much after our long drive! The house is very nice, clean and comfortable in a refreshingly quiet environment with nice walks at the end of the lane. Thank you very much!

    Lucy2015-10-25T00:00:00Z
  • A really lovely house. The living room is a lot bigger than the photos and has lovely comfy sofas. Great for socialising with friends and watching movies. All beds were comfy and kitchen was fully equipped. We visited chatsworth house while we were here it did look further away on the map but we managed it in just over half an hour. It's a great base for the south east side of the Peak District just 20-30 mins drive, which you don't mind at all when your staying in such a lovely place especially as the drive back to the house was very scenic. We had no problems with Somerton there was a good chip shop and a co-op really close by and the house is surrounded by hedges, fields and beautiful cottages. Beautiful garden xx

  • We were made most welcome by Ali. Convenient parking available on site. Accommodation as described - very comfortable, with added advantage of plenty of reading material! Lots of local maps, guides and info in the room and Ali more than happy to give further advice and make suggestions if needed. Peaceful and quiet, and just a short walk to the delightful town centre. It was lovely to come downstairs in the morning to the smell of freshly baked bread for breakfast. An enjoyable stay, many thanks Ali.

Top floor loft conversion, very spacious with private shower room ensuite, Freeview television with DVD, double bed, tea & coffee, Views over the Derbyshire countryside, local walks and an excellent location only a few miles out of the Peak District (close to Cromford, Crich, Matlock, Belper, Duffield, Ambergate and surrounding areas)
Light & airy top floor of the house
  • We felt very comfortable in this bright, sunny room looking out over the fields. It's clearly been recently furnished (it all looks fresh) and because it's on its own floor with a separate ensuite bathroom, it feels quite private. Becky went out of her way to make our stay a good one, and was a very helpful host - so if you're planning a stay in the area, this is definitely a good choice!

  • We stayed here for a night during the indietracks festival nearby and it was one of the coziest, friendliest airbnbs we'd ever stayed at. Becky was very kind & responsive, and we loved having the 'penthouse' room with the sloping ceiling.

    Robert2017-07-31T00:00:00Z
  • Another lovely stay in Becky's quiet second floor retreat! I appreciate the space and the peace after a long day at work - this room has everything you need and the ensuite is just so welcome. Thank you Becky :)

  • Becky and her husband are lovely people, very welcoming and yet giving space to relax in a really nice modern house in our quiet village street. The room in the top of the house is very large and super comfortable. A great bed, fantastic shower great wifi and lovely views. We slept very well and were given breakfast in the kitchen which Becky didn't charge for. So nice to be treated to that. Thanks guys for a great stay

    Lovely garden outdoor space.
Great pub at end of road BBH serving real ales. And local butchers few doors down .

200 year old, three-storey mill-worker's cottage, an easy 5 minute walk from Belper town centre and the train station, with links to the Peak District, Derby and beyond one double bedroom, a sofa in the living room and a couple of inflatable mattresses which can be made up as a double in the attic room. Max group size 4 adults
A three-storey terraced cottage. This is my home, which is mostly available when the wanderlust takes me elsewhere. There's a double bedroom, a sofa in the living room and floor space with inflatable mattresses available in another two rooms (normally made up as a double bed in the attic), with bedding and towels for everyone. (Although it's not a big house by any means, and there's only the one bathroom.) Maximum group size is 4 adults (insurance restrictions). Downstairs is the living room, with sofa bed and the all important wood burner: in the winter there will be a basket full of wood, with firelighters and kindling. A step up takes you into the kitchen, with electric hob and fan oven, fridge and washing machine in the galley area towards the back door and a freezer under the stairs. The back garden (more of a yard really, as it's mosly paved) is up steps out of the back door, a real suntrap during the day in the summer. Feel free to use the herbs from the garden or to take chairs out there to sit in the sun. The 'bathroom' is off the kitchen: a bit of a misnomer, as there is no bath tub, but the shower is hot and has great pressure. Stairs take you up to the first floor, where there is a west-facing double bedroom and a small office, from where more stairs take you up to the attic room. The attic gets the morning light, as it faces east, and makes for a great place to sit with a book and a glass of wine in the evening. If needed, there are a couple of inflatable single mattresses, with plenty of floor space for them up here (can be made up as a double) or there's space for a single in the office (if you really need it). The office also makes a good place to put a travel cot, if you have tiny people but don't want them in the same bedroom as you... If you're travelling with kids, there's a great park just down the road, literally 50 metres away, which keeps nephews and nieces occupied for ages. What I don't have is any dining space: it's an eat off your lap house, I'm afraid. On-street parking.
Belper is a great little town, far enough out of Derby to have a life of its own, not too far from the Peak District National Park. Belper has a thriving town centre (Britain's Best High Street 2014, no less!), with a good deli (Fresh Basil) that also does a great cooked breakfast, small cinema (Ritz), a couple of supermarkets, excellent off-licence (Liquid Treasure), old fashioned sweet shop, plenty of the usual eateries (curry houses, chinese takeaways, a thai and bistro-type dining at 'Nourish at No. 44'), greengrocers, butchers, bakers (no candlestick maker that I know of, I'm afraid). There's a monthly farmers' market a 5 minute walk from the house on the 2nd Saturday of each month (go for the ostrich burgers and cinnamon donuts), an annual arts festival in May, food festival in July and visiting fun fair. The town is in the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site, with East Mill down on the river home to a nesting pair of Peregrines, who often fly over the house! And for those who need their fix of the big city, Derby, Nottingham, Sheffield and Leicester are all an easy train ride away, and the Trans Peak bus service takes you to Manchester (although it takes its time...).
  • We stayed at Philip's cottage for 3 nights and we enjoyed our visit very much. The communication prior to our stay was extremely good and Philip provided everything that we needed in the cottage. It is a very sweet little place with real character and as there were 5 of us it was a little tight on space but Philip had been very honest about that before we arrived, so it was not a surprise to us. Belper is a traditional market town and we enjoyed visiting the local pubs in the area that Philip had recommended.

    Jane2015-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • A truly fantastic first airbnb experience. Philip went out of his way to give us a fantastic stay, despite booking just 24hrs in advance. Lovely cosy cottage with great facilities - would definitely stay here again!

    Luke2015-08-16T00:00:00Z
  • Philip's place is awesome; really comfortable and full of beautiful and interesting artworks and artefacts. Beds are comfy, shower is hot and powerful, fire stick available, great wifi. It was really central to the town so getting around was really easy. The kids loved the play ground around 50 meters away, as well as the nature reserve just over the road. Philip was so accommodating, beds all as requested and lots of useful information to help with the stay. As well as great communication throughout. It's a lovely little town with lots of history, arts and character, as well as plenty of nature to explore. We had a lovely meal in the Lion pub, Philip had left bread and juice in for breakfast, and with a Morrisons and Aldi really close eating was easy. I'd definitely recommend you stay at Philip's place, and so would my kids (aged 6 and 8)!

    Erica2017-05-01T00:00:00Z
  • A great host and a lovely little house. Philip made things really easy for us and was quick to respond to any queries we had.

  • Really good check in and flexibility on arrival, departure times. Phil made us feel very welcome and kindly left groceries for us. Family friendly house and area with Belper and beautiful countryside on the doorstep. Found a fantastic character pub with superb reasonably priced food at Starkholmes, near Matlock; the White Lion.

    Rob2017-07-06T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely cottage, exactly as described. Everything we needed for our weekend and lovely location too! Would definitely recommend!

    Meg2016-06-27T00:00:00Z
  • This is a lovely cosy cottage, nice and clean and a little bit quirky - exactly like the pics! Belper's a great little town, so we spent time out and about in Belper itself and at Matlock and Matlock Bath. It was our first Airbnb, but we wouldn't hesitate to use again in the future. Thanks again Philip.

    Annette2016-08-15T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you Philip for a lovely stay. Words can't describe how lovely and cosy Philip's house is. Great location, nice walks and relaxing weekend. Highly recommend this house.
