The Mokepilly apartment is a spacious, comfortable base from which you can explore the unique and diverse Macedon Ranges region. It's a place to rest and recharge with a glass of local wine and complimentary Netflix, a place to settle down on the huge sofa with a good book from the collection provided, and a place to enjoy a home-cooked meal on the deck overlooking the pond and front garden. The apartment is perfect for one or two adults, and we are happy to welcome guests traveling with infants or toddlers - with space for a port-a-cot in the bedroom and a bath, the apartment easily accommodates little ones. The garden at Mokepilly has been twenty-seven years in the making, and is, like all gardens, still a work in progress. It’s managed on a ‘when time permits’ basis and features a large collection of rare and unique plants, a productive vegetable garden and a rose garden boasting over one hundred varieties including many highly fragrant and very beautiful David Austins. A few French Delbards and some Hybrid Teas have snuck in too! When the garden is in bloom, we'll endeavour to leave you with some fresh flowers to enjoy during your stay and to take home with you so that your time at Mokepilly lasts just that little bit longer. We absolutely love sharing the Macedon Ranges with new and returning visitors so we hope you'll choose Mokepilly as your home-away-from-home for your stay in the region.
Mokepilly is located in Macedon, at the base of the stunning Mount Macedon, and is at the gateway to the beautiful Macedon Ranges spa and wine region. There's no shortage of opportunities to experience this special part of Victoria as a foodie, nature-lover and adventurer, cyclist or art-connoisseur.

  • Lovely home and host =) Karen was very accommodating and helpful during our stay.

  • Great hosts, great location and a lovely cosy place.

  • Mokepilly Apartment Macedon was a fabulous place to stay; the description and photos do not do it justice. We were welcomed, shown all the wonderful facilities, and left in privacy. The bed was comfortable and the coffee delicious (with a choice of soy or cow's milk too). I especially liked the environmental approach taken with a compost bin, and biodegradable kitchen cloths. I highly recommend Mokepilly Apartment for people wanting to stay one night or longer, as it would be an excellent base to explore Central Victoria.

    Linda2016-10-09T00:00:00Z
  • Nicky and Karen were incredible hosts! Mokepilly was a beautiful apartment, excellent books and amenities on offer. We only wish we could have stayed longer!

  • Extremely welcoming host and a great place to stay in.

    Natalia2017-06-25T00:00:00Z
  • A very warm welcome from the hosts, who greet and treat you like family at this peaceful location. Everything you could want is catered for in the apartment and the comprehensive information and keenly shared knowledge of the area was much appreciated. Very dog friendly with their lovely German Shorthaired Pointers, and even accepting of me having my young puppy crated while staying there. Looking forward to my next visit!

The Spud Diggers Hut offers charming self-contained queen accommodation overlooking the paddocks and vineyards of Hesket Estate. Enjoy this peaceful setting, stroll around the farm and meet the animals. Make the most of this ideal location, with Woodend and Romsey an easy 10 kilometres away and the legendary Hanging Rock only 4 kilometres from the Spud Diggers Hut. Includes breakfast provisions and a bottle of wine.
  • We would highly recommend Spud Diggers Hut for a weekend getaway. It's very well equipped, including breakfast supplies, and has a lovely balcony overlooking the vines which catches the morning sun. Elizabeth is very friendly and kindly did some wine tastings for us on our last day. The location made it easy to visit neighboring towns and do some hiking.

    Samantha2017-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely accomodation in a beautiful setting with wildlife on the property.

    Tom2017-04-30T00:00:00Z

  • Spud Digger Hut is very charming. The property is beautiful and our only regret is that we couldn't stay longer.

  • We had a lovely stay at Hesket; from the quaint ambiance of the estate's former spud-picker's cottage to the plentiful provisions (including an excellent bottle of white) to the peaceful grounds and Elizabeth's advice on places to visit in the area, which is very well located in between Mount Macedon and Hanging Rock. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend Hesket Estate for anyone touring the region seeking a quiet retreat in picturesque surrounds with considerate, knowledgable hosts and commendable wines to boot!

Feel yourself unwind as you meander down the one kilometre drive to this private contemporary home set in an authentic Australian country environment. Read a book in a sunny nook, sit on the deck and watch the magnificent sunsets, cuddle up by the fire during winter or have a long soak in a hot bath. Perfect for those looking for a great base to explore the surrounding area or just somewhere to relax and enjoy the scenery.
  • Honestly, the pictures of this magnificent home do not do it justice. Sarah and Stephen's architecturally designed house, situated in the middle of the open plains of central Victoria (with a sneaky view to Hanging Rock), is a peaceful oasis. It is clear that nothing is without thought. The gorgeous double-sided fireplace is central to two separate lounge rooms, both with comfy couches, rugs, and plenty of cushions, while the clever and sustainable design of the house itself means that this heat-source alone is sufficient, even in the depths of winter (as during our stay). Sarah provided eggs, bacon, bread, butter, jam, milk, and even an avocado and juice, with tea and coffee (with plunger), and some delicious boutique chocolate to boot. Most generous! The modern kitchen has everything you need, too—we loved being snuggled up in this beautiful house too much to eat out, so we cooked ourselves a roast for dinner :) Sarah is also very easy to deal with, very happy to help with anything we might have needed. Highly recommended, and we'll certainly be back.

    Stephanie2017-07-09T00:00:00Z
  • This place is a fantastic location for any couple or small group looking to escape the city hustle and bustle. It's so close to hanging rock and Mt Macedon. The photos don't do the place justice, it's gorgeous with an amazing view. The kitchen and living space was very luxurious, not to mention the wonderful deep bathtub. They have included a great selection of food for breakfast and the TV has Netflix. I would definitely stay again and recommend to friends and family.

    Tess2017-09-23T00:00:00Z
  • Sarah and Stephen's house is brilliantly designed, has a beautiful outlook, peaceful setting and was tastefully decorated lovely touches such as huge bath towels and yum brekkie goods. This has been one of our greatest accomodation discoveries! Thankyou

    Meagan2017-07-16T00:00:00Z
  • Sarah and Stephens property is an absolute dream. We went there for the Mount Macedon 50k Trail, so a relaxed and quiet weekend was what we needed and exactly what we got. Honestly one of the most lovely places we've stayed in using airbnb. The house and surrounding property is 10 times more beautiful than photographed, we were blown away upon arrival. The unexpected delicious eggs, bacon, juice and Red Beard bakery bread was a delicious suprise. Great location in Woodend. Perfect location for a bunch of foodies. The deep bath was the perfect post race recovery. Sarah and Stephen are incredibly welcoming and hospitable, they went above and beyond our expectations, we can't wait to go back. 11/10!

    Sinéad2017-06-06T00:00:00Z
  • My mum and dad stayed at Sarah and Stephens place and were blown away by it. Gorgeous house and divine outlook! Mum loved the HUGE bath with a beautiful window view, and they both thoroughly enjoyed sitting in very comfy chairs by the fire! They cant wait to go back again, and were welcomed very warmly by Sarah and Stephen. Thanks so much for looking after them so beautifully!! Great escape away from everything!

    Renee2017-04-22T00:00:00Z
  • The house is lovely and on a farm just outside of the small town of Woodend. It is very peaceful and has beautiful views. Sarah is a wonderful hostess and met us and shows us the house and explained how the fireplace worked. We had a great week exploring the region and enjoyed coming back in the evenings to the house to the well equipped kitchen. Although it was cold weather the house is well designed and keeps the warmth and the bed was comfortable and warm. I loved waking each morning and the lovely views from the big glass windows. Many thanks Sarah and Stephen!

    Julie2017-08-22T00:00:00Z
  • The photos do not do this beautiful home justice! We had a lovely stay in this modern, architecturally designed 'farm' house. Although the home is recently built, it is decorated beautifully with little antique treasures to investigate in each room. The house itself is spacious, comfortable and modern. Bed was very comfortable, with high quality linen, the shower was particularly enjoyable (with a view!) The kitchen was well stocked and a lovely fresh breakfast of bacon, eggs, avocado and bread supplied. The host Sarah was easy to communicate with, and offered to come up and show us how the fireplace worked. With the location less than an hour from Melbourne city, but in a beautiful rural setting, we will definitely be coming back for weekend getaways! There is a 1.3km dirt track/road from the main road, but it is in excellent condition and small cars would have no problem driving on it.

    Liz2017-04-01T00:00:00Z
  • A very special place to stay in a unique location. The house is architecturally contemporary with many lovely features and Sarah and Stephen keep it clean with lots of lovely touches that added to our experience. Definitely one of our favourite Airbnb's

  • We had a lovely stay here. Fiona was great to deal with. The highlight was the view (spectacular!) along with the use of the firepit at night. Perfect with a red wine in hand and roasting marshmallows.

  • A fantastic host that delivered excellent service and also recommended me places to visit whilst in the Macedon ranges. The studio was excellent and the view is fantastic. I highly recommend with great accommodation and great service!

  • Overall had a great experience. The view from the studio is fantastic, much better in person! On arrival there was Lindt chocolate left for us, and it was little extras like that which made our stay more enjoyable. We where able to bring our 3 year old german shepherd and she loved every minute of it, being able to run around the farm and play with the other dogs. The studio was very clean and well decorated, certainly felt like a home away from home.

    Stoyan2016-11-06T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely, peaceful midweek stay in Fiona's studio. The studio was perfect for two people and had everything we could need. Fiona had left some handy tips for the area and some instructions that made our stay a breeze. The views were absolutely stunning from the back courtyard and the garden is beautiful. The studio provided a great location to travel to nearby areas, including Daylesford, Kyneton and Hanging Rock. We would love to stay again. Thanks again Fiona.

    Sophie2015-11-19T00:00:00Z
  • The studio and the views were amazing. We unfortunately had to leave early due to personal circumstances and now we're left longing. We'll definitely be back at some stage for an overnight stay. The sunset and views from just out the back we're crazy awesome!

    Jose2015-11-11T00:00:00Z
  • Great little studio with beautiful country views. Studio had everything we needed albeit in a 50's retro style which was charming. It was spotlessly clean and we appreciated the complimentary chocolate and coffee pod machine. Our hostess, Fiona, was very welcoming and helpful. The only downside was that the bed was rather small for a couple. Also great location just outside Woodend to explore the Macedon ranges.

    David2016-11-28T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay in this comfortable and well appointed studio. Local eateries are amazing and countless cycling possibilities available right from the door.

    Walther2016-07-25T00:00:00Z
  • Fiona's cottage is a beautiful haven away from bustling city life, with a clear view over a picturesque valley. We loved sitting and watching the clouds roll over the valley and the roos go about their day, as we sipped on wine and cheese. Bliss.. Fiona was super friendly and really helpful with great suggestions for dinner and breakfast locations. The cottage itself is really clean and nicely furnished, with all the basics included (tea, coffee, milk, sugar, etc). We loved our stay and recommend Fiona's b'n'b highly.

Our well appointed cabin has everything you need for your magnificent trip to the Macedon ranges. It's perfectly suited for a couple (or couple with an infant) and we supply all linen, plus a continental breakfast for two. House trained pets are welcome, however we don't have secure fences.
The cabin is a completely separate building on our property, with a its own driveway and parking area. Our main house and the cabin are close together, however the configuration allows our cabin guests a sense of privacy and seclusion. The cabin has one large bedroom with a comfy double bed, small couch and lots of storage. Then there's a combined living / dining area in the main room complete with full kitchen, wide bench top, bench stools, table and chairs, 3 seater couch and a TV. The toilet and bathroom (shower / sink) are separate, both coming off the main living area. We're happy to accomodate parents with an infant, at no extra charge. There's plenty of room in the main bedroom for your portacot.
Our cabin is a great place to stay if you're in town for an event or have plans to explore all the amazing things to see and do; in and around Mount Macedon. The open gardens, local restaurants, wineries, bush walks and points of interest make this area so compelling for visitors. Plan your trip to make sure you take in some of the sights.
  • Fantastic accommodation- clean, modern and feels like you are in a bush retreat! Meagan was a great host! And breakfast foods were delicious too!

    Ellie2017-09-12T00:00:00Z
  • Great facilities, excellent host and in a nice location. Breakfast provided was generous and all a traveller could ask for

  • Lovely spot, private access, lovely weekend getaway and easy access to explore the surrounding areas!

    Tristan2017-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • From arrival to checkout, we feel very welcomed by Meagan and Dennis. Quiet , privacy assured and relaxing atmosphere especially the inside with everything provided for even soya sauce (from fridge to pantry... and much much more!) We requested a DVD player and it was promptly set up. We were even shown how to get the DVD player going too. We also feel a bit pampered when Meagan dropped off freshly ground coffee.

    Sophia2017-03-26T00:00:00Z
  • Meagan's cottage was absolutely perfect for 2 of us to stay for a little weekend getaway. With food in the fridge and fresh eggs & bread waiting our arrival, Meagan could not have made our stay any easier or more delightful! We loved it here.

    Katelyn2017-04-02T00:00:00Z
  • Walking distance to Macedon restaurants and shops. Meaghan made sure we had everything we could want (breakfast items, umbrella, torch) Great little spot to visit hanging rock, some wineries and a trip to Daylesford on the way back.

    Michelle2017-04-25T00:00:00Z
  • Our Cabin was warm, welcoming and well set up when we arrived with everything we needed. Meagan's recommendations for dinner were great and a short walk away.... a bonus not having to drive the car. The fridge and pantry stocked with all the neccesities we needed for our short stay was a pleasant surprise and much appreciated, as were the bacon, eggs, fresh bread, yoghurt and juice for breakie. Comfortable bed and bath robes along with our 12pm checkout were bonuses. Wished we could have stayed longer. Great hospitality Meagan.

    Annie2017-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • What a fantastic holiday cabin. Everything you could possibly need; from fluffy white bath robes and slippers to magazines and the weekend newspaper. Meagan provided wonderful recommendations and we lunched at the Macedon Wine Room, had a pizza from Ida Red and breakfasted at 'Mr'. Just a short jaunt to the mountain top to view the cross and the view. We could just as easily have tucked ourselves up in the warm cabin and stayed in as we'd been provided with everything from bacon and eggs to smoked salmon and divine local bread (from Millet Road Maker in Gisborne). Meagan, greeted us to make sure we had everything we needed and we knew she wouldn't be far away if we needed something. Beautiful daffodils in the garden as well. We were there for some events in Woodend and surrounding towns and it proved to be the perfect base for us.

  • If you're after an experience that is more than accommodation, I would absolutely recommend Diana's place. You will be received with tremendous warmth and charm. Diana's zest and rich life experiences made for a wonderful stay. She engages across so many topics and connects with you as though you're long time friends. The home is as character filled as the host. An added treat was the terrific spread of homemade delicacies for breakfast. Undoubtedly one of Woodend's best attractions.

We started our hike from our front door, which was very convenient. The cottage was immaculately presented, with a little goodie basket, wine and a few essentials provided. The log fire warmed the beautiful, homely space perfectly.

  • Stayed the weekend to look at local open gardens. You cannot beat this place for location at Mt Macedon. Very spacious, large bath and wood heater if you wish. (Even dry wood appearing at rear door during heavy downpour) Off street parking and pub just up the road. Pretty garden view out of all windows. Great bed. Greeted by host when we arrived. What more can we say. Oh, yes, it rained all weekend and the sound of it on the roof was lovely.

    Graeme2017-04-10T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage was wonderful with beautiful surrounds. The space was romantic and comfy, with all the necessary amenities. The wood fireplace was especially nice with the cool nights. The local cafe and pub are both excellent for food and entertainment, and just one minute down the street.

    Jacob2017-09-10T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely hosts - very friendly and helpful. The place was nicely decorated, clean and well equipped. The fire was laid and ready for our arrival and breakfast staples were a nice addition. Location was perfect!

  • Rebecca's cottage is fantastic! Much larger than we expected and it had everything we needed for a relaxing weekend away from the city. Right in the heart of Mount Macedon it's easy to find, extremely peaceful and with an open fire and heaters keeps you warm on those cool country nights. We can't wait to book in again!

The house is fantastic and has some farm animals close by, which John was more than happy to show us around. • We had a wonderful time at Suzanne's place. We stayed in Eagles Nest which was gorgeous and had a lovely outdoor decking looking over spectacular views. Whilst we didn't get to spend too much time outside due to weather, the location was beautiful and there was plenty of indoor activities instead. The only down fall was that the cabins were immediately next to one another which was not described very well online. Overall our stay was amazing and we'd definitely come back! Thank you Suzanne for having us!

    Jennifer2017-04-21T00:00:00Z
  • Wombat Lodge was a beautifully located, neatly presented, cozy and comfortable place to spend a weekend away. The views and the setting were amazing - sitting and staring out at that view with a warming fire was perfectly relaxing and a great way to escape. Although the property is tucked up on the hill, it was also convenient for walking and touring in the Mt Macedon area. An excellent place to base yourself for exploring or just lounging and enjoying the natural beauty. Thanks for a great weekend away!

A comfortable farm house only 5 minutes walk to the mysterious Hanging Rock, The Rockin' R Ranch offers a true country experience. It sits on 30 acres of pasture and garden with 10 horses and foals (Friesian and Andalusian) and views to Mount Macedon and Hanging Rock. Go on a picnic. Climb the rock, pet a foal, groom a horse, swim in the dam, visit nearby wineries, stroll through the garden and the gardens of Mount Macedon or visit the Memorial cross.
  • Wonderful farm-stay in a scenic spot super-close to hanging rock. We enjoyed interacting with the horses, birds and guinea pigs, and stoking the fire to keep ourselves warm and cosy. Bring your gumboots!

  • Beautiful spot in the country. Great location and lovely gardens. Cleanliness was a bit lacking.

  • We had an amazing time at the cottage. It's a secluded, quiet and peaceful place, surrounded by acerage and horses. We enjoyed waking up to the misty, wintery weather. The wood fire heater and the electric bed heaters kept us warm and cosy. Thoroughly enjoyed manning the wood heater! The cottage is far better than what's shown in the pictures. It's inviting, homely and the ideal place for some R n R. Hanging Rock is quite close by too. Robyn was a good host, and was very easy to communicate with.

  • What a great place! Right on the doorstep of Hanging Rock out the window. Secluded, with a great fireplace to keep you warm. We had an amazing time, and will be going up again soon! If you love a little country charm, get on board!

  • Robyn is a great host. Took us through all the small details about the house and she asked a test question and we passed the test . Fireplace was of great help in the cold weather. All the pets were very friendly. Entire property was nice and cozy. Just a note that cellular network connection is not available if you are not with Telstra.

  • We had such a lovely relaxing stay at the ranch! The gardens and farm setting are beautiful and the house is very cosy and comfy with a simple country style. It was an excellent place to take our two dogs too. Everything you need is very close by car, just be aware there's no phone reception except for Telstra (which was a plus for us). There is also Foxtel to watch movies. We had a great stay and would definitely return. Thanks Robyn!

  • My girlfriend and I had a really nice relaxing time at Brian's retreat in Woodend. Our room was lovely, with a cosy comfy bed and views out to the garden. We had our own private bathroom with beautiful Sukin products provided, and our own private lounge area with a big tv, mini fridge and tea/coffee/milk. There was even a fresh loaf of bread laid out for us with butter and spreads. Brian is a lovely fella, very welcoming and helpful but also conscious of giving us our own space. He is also a talented craftsman and we were treated to a guided tour of his workshop (which is well worth a look). We are already planning a return trip (we want to meet the dogs next time!) Thanks very much for having us Brian - we really loved it.

    Sophie2017-04-02T00:00:00Z
  • Private facilities, with separate lounge area, Wi Fi & foxtel , wonderful stay.

    Peter2017-05-21T00:00:00Z
  • Thanks for the extra effort ensuring we had a microwave for all we needed. Brian really goes above and beyond to make sure you have everything you need without being intrusive at all. Thanks for your hospitality!

  • Our stay at Brian's was fantastic! Brian and his wonderful dogs greeted us warmly. Brian's space was warm and inviting, our own private lounge was lovely with comfy couches and Foxtel which was a nice touch. We loved the tasty loaf of bread and condiments. The bed was comfy and warm, the soaps and shampoos in the bathroom were great and the shower pressure was awesome! We would not hesitate to stay again! Thanks Brian!

    Ned2017-04-12T00:00:00Z
  • Brian's house was spacious, neat, clean and comfortable. The private room we had with attached private living area was very warm - perfect for a cold night in Woodend. Brian was a friendly host who made us feel welcome and set out the place with all the creature comforts. I would highly recommend!

Stay a night in a spacious double bedroom with own en-suite in the heart of Gisborne just ten minute walk to shops, cafes and park, and less than half an hour drive from Melbourne Airport / a mere 50kms to central Melbourne.
You will be staying in the master bedroom which features not only your own en-suite and a super comfy king size bed but also a fabulous skylight, making your room light filled and bright (don't worry, it also comes with a shutter, so you can enjoy a good night's sleep in a dark room). If you're traveling with young children we have a portacot. There is a kettle to make yourself a tea or coffee, in the bathroom you will find towels and body wash / Shampoo and we can also provide you with a TV with a DVD collection (TV isn't hooked up to an aerial though). The room has views of the front garden and just about Mount Macedon. Cooked local and organic veggie breakfast available upon request. Continental breakfast, served on the front veranda, is included in the price. We can also cater for GF upon request. We provide free wifi for guests. In the garden you are quite likely to see the following native Australian wildlife: King parrots, galahs, rainbow lorrikeet, yellow tailed black cockatoo, white cockatoos and rosellas as well as the foreign Myna bird.
There is plenty to explore in and around Gisborne. Whether you enjoy horticulture and want to take a walk in the Gisborne Botanical Gardens, love a latte while watching the world go by, or want to see the famous Gisborne Olde Time Market (first Sunday each month), our home is walking distance to all that Gisborne has to offer. Gisborne, alongside Woodend, also features a fabulous adventure playground, and has a lovely little creek run through oak tree lined parks. You can walk into Gisborne within ten minutes, a mere five minute drive takes you to New Gisborne station (check with us - we may be able to pick you up/ drop you off at the station), the motorway exits are both less than five minutes to Oakvale House, and Macedon, Mount Macedon and Woodend are all within a fifteen minute drive.

  • Staying here was like staying with family. The hosts were warm and genuinely lovely people. The room was super-clean and modern, the bathroom, although slightly older is clean and very convenient. I would highly recommend not only the accom, but also the town of Gisborne- it's lovely! We will certainly be back again!

  • A lovely home flanked by a superb old oak tree awaits the guests. Easy to find thanks to great instructions by Anna. We were given a lovely warm welcome by Jamie and Dylan and our room was very comfortable, spotlessly clean and had all the extras that made the stay relaxing and enjoyable. Super friendly hosts who we really enjoyed meeting and a delicious breakfast in the morning capped off a very happy stay. Highly recommend.

  • We loved our stay at Kristy's place. Kristy was super helpful and made sure our stay was comfortable, super warm and toasty! The apartment was very clean and well stocked, with attention to the smaller details like a few extra toys for our kids to play with. She even lit the fire for our arrival on a cold and raining night which was lovely. The vineyard is a located in a lovely part of the world, but we found it just as nice to stay put and relax.

    Sarah2017-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • As a short stopover on our road trip this was perfect!! Kristy could not have been more accomodating. So much so, Kristy had lit the fire prior to our arrival to make the place nice and warm. There was a supply of wood and kindling for us, so we made use of the BBQ and had dinner around the firepit. It was a shame we hadn't arrived until dark as it would be beautiful in the afternoon watching the sun go down. Plenty of blankets and bedding. Kitchen was thoughtfully stocked with breakfast supplies tea and coffee. This would make a great stay for a group travelling. We can't wait to return and spend a few nights here!

    Meg2017-09-19T00:00:00Z
  • Their property is so beautifully landscaped and the house is comfy with great facilities. We enjoyed the misty sunrise, having coffee and watching the horses and jumping kangaroos in the great outside space. Also, it was nice doing some bushwalking in their huge beautiful property in the morning. Kristy was so kind and accommodating. We would love to come back!

Bronwyn offered wonderful dinner options which we thoroughly enjoyed and the freshly baked bread in the morning was a real treat. We look forward to coming back and enjoying the views and serenity of this beautiful spot again soon.

  • My partner James and I wanted a little escape from the city and Sunnyside Cottage was the perfect spot. The cottage is clean, cosy and has an amazing fireplace that was much needed on the cold night we were there. Bronwyn's hospitality was great and we will definitely be back to stay at the cottage again. Thanks again Bronwyn.

  • We stayed here during Xmas week while visiting family in Romsey. While it only has one bedroom, our 5 year old was very comfortable using the hide-a-bed in the living room. The kitchen had everything we could need for our stay but the best part is the location. It is remote enough to hear nothing of civilisation except for the odd car going by on a distant road but close enough to a couple of towns to get any essentials - like wine. The patio in the morning is beautiful. We will be back during our next stay to visit the family in Romsey.

  • Bronwyn was a lovely host, welcoming us on arrival and ensuring we settled in comfortably. It was easy to enjoy ourselves in such an adorable cottage and stunning setting. The photos really don't do this place justice. All features of the cottage were well thought out and we had everything we needed to make our stay a home away from home.

Sit back and relax, read, write or research, play games, sip a gin and tonic or surf the net while you watch the clouds move across the mountain peak, or the roos manage their wild lives. Go to one of the many local farmers markets and cook up a storm in the fully equiped kitchen, or head out to a local wine bar or wood fired pizza joint. Walk to the summit from your back door, drive to Hanging Rock for a picnic, or wander into the village of Macedon for a morning coffee. Cosy and modern.
This is a comfy, recently built cottage, with rustic and rural views to Mt Macedon peak. It is located on the edge of the bush township of Macedon, an hour's drive or train ride from Melbourne. The cottage is four years old, fitted with modern comforts: double glazing, passive solar aspect, split system heating and cooling, cosy wool carpets and space to spread out. It is on a secluded 6 acre property, a 25 - 30 minute walk from the train station. Our family home is located about 20 metres from the cottage, separated by a large privacy screen. The kitchen is well equiped with an electric oven, gas stove, microwave oven, walk in pantry and drawer dishwasher. The living area spans the northern side of the house, making the most of the sun shine and the mountain and forest vista. Again on the northern side there is a spacious and peaceful deck.
The town of Macedon is a small village with a population of around 2000. The property is located about 1km from the local shops (a 15-20 minute walk or a 2 minute drive). The shops include a small IGA supermarket, a bakery, a nice cafe, a wood fire pizza restaurant, a wine bar, another restaurant, a newsagent (post office), real estate. Gisborne - bigger town with more resources - is a 10 minute drive away, as is Woodend. Melbourne is an hour's drive south, and Bendigo an hour north.

  • Such a stunning farmhouse at the foothills of Hanging rock. A truely idyllic retreat in the countryside. Matthew was a fantastic host, always around but never too much. The room was perfect, comfy and fabulous views. We loved the little touch of the beautiful roses in the bedroom. We were made to feel completely welcome and at home as soon as we arrived. It couldn't have been easier. The breakfasts were a real nightlight. Such delicious omlette and honey and jam from the land to top it off. We had some wonderful conversions with both Matthew and his lovely wife. We couldn't recommend his house highly enough and are looking forward to coming back already!

Our stay was wonderful, despite the beautiful view just right opposite Hanging Rock, the house is also nicely designed and decorated, we had a long chat about efficiency of the house power saving, it was nice that Matthew shared us the information. During winter we have specials for Mon-Thursday nights. Our cosy cottage is a private retreat in a garden at the foothills of Mt Macedon. Fully self contained, it has two bedrooms. Highlights are the bay window (winter days by the fire), wide verandah and outdoor fire pit (summer evenings under the stars)
This very sweet little cottage has been a much loved bed and breakfast for over 10 years. Recently renovated, the interior design is simple and uncluttered, done creatively and lovingly. The cottage is surrounded by open grassy spaces and tall trees. The birdsong in the mornings is truly fantastic. Kookaburras are often hanging around. In the evenings there is a mob of kangaroos who come to graze on the grass. You will often hear the skimming of the wild ducks as they come to land on the dam nearby. Breakfast provisions will be left in the kitchen so you can just sleep in and relax on your first morning - eggs, bacon, milk, bread, tea, coffee, jams....
We are in the Macedon Ranges and very close to Victoria's famous spa country. There's so much to do in the area. Fantastic restaurants, pubs, wineries, walks, bike rides (we have bikes you can use...), farmer's markets, galleries, etc.
  • Cute and cosy. Very comfortable stay, dont pass by this one!

  • We loved our stay in Bernard and Emma's charming cottage. Set on a gorgeous property with lake views, it was perfect for our family of four. We really appreciated all the thoughtful touches from flowers on the table to the delicious breakfast supplies, tasteful artwork, magazines and books, quality linen, plenty of wood for the fire and even marshmallows to toast! It felt like a cozy home away from home, very relaxing. Highly recommended.

  • Listing description spot on. Great location to explore Macedon, Kyneton, Threntham and spa country. Our girls loved it (aged 5 and 9). Cottage comfortable and well stocked. No oven or laundry which is why it is perfect for a short stay. Private although hosts nearby and happy to help. Emma & Bernard leave a list of recommendations which was appreciated.

    Katie2016-09-20T00:00:00Z
  • Emma was really communicative and friendly and check in/out was easy breezy. The property and converted horse stables were absolutely divine! It's been one of our favourite stays anywhere; ever. Cosy and gorgeously decorated, it felt like living inside a Country Living magazine. Mornings we would have fresh eggs and bacon and lie in the sun by the dam, days would be spent exploring the fantastic country towns surrounding the property, and evenings by the woodfire reading and chatting. We can't wait to return!

  • We absolutely loved our stay at Eagle's Nest! The cottage was beautiful - well equipped, spacious and fantastic views. Check-in was easy and Suzanne provided great instructions for finding the place as well as getting settled in. Would highly recommend staying here and we will definitely be back.

  • This was our second time staying with Anne and we again we had such a lovely stay. I can't fault anything with our stay, very accommodating, comfortable and peaceful, with some lovely small touches! We will most definitely be returning in the future.

  • Clean comfortable, great countryside, nice people.

  • Anne and Martin were wonderful hosts. The cottage was delightful- very clean, neat and picturesque. Anne was very helpful in giving us directions (as (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) maps lied to us). They left cute chocolates on the bed and provided a complimentary breakfast. The open fire was incredible- warmed up the entire cottage and made it feel very homely. The cottage is very secluded and is a fantastic getaway from the city. Martin was very helpful in giving us tips for things to do in the area and was always available to help. We wish we could have stayed longer and we will definitely be back again! Thank you so much!

  • We enjoyed our quiet stay at Bonnie's unit - separate from their house. It was an economical stay and had everything we needed. A feature of visiting Woodend is the closeness of Hanging Rock - a 7 minute drive.

    Ken2016-12-05T00:00:00Z
  • All was good, I was just staying one night by myself. The lock was a bit fiddley and the taps in the bathroom were broken, but no big deal. Would stay here again.

    Amanda2017-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • thank you Bonnie for a wonderful stay over the weekend. The location was really peaceful and quiet and I was really grateful for the privacy I was given, it was exactly what I needed. Everything I needed was in the unit,so that I was easily able to prepare my meals, and watch dvds, and I spent far more time in bed than I should have because it was just so comfortable and snuggly. The heater provided kept the unit really warm. thank you again

  • It's good to stay.

    Hao2016-11-19T00:00:00Z
  • Had a great stay, it was only one night but Bonnie was accommodating while at the same time leaving us to ourselves and giving us privacy which is what we wanted.

    Martin2016-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • a good unit but unfortunately needs a good general overhaul of fixtures as some items have been fully inoperative for several months.

    Brian2017-07-16T00:00:00Z
  • This was a cozy unit that I would recommend to a couple or small family. Because there are no doors for the bedroom privacy may be an issue. The unit was clean and orderly and just a few minutes walk to the small village of Woodend. Good value.

Comfortable, clean and peaceful room in a studio/cabin with its own separate entrance. Facilities for light cooking in the room. Riddells Creek is a quiet small town in lovely surrounding countryside and views of the Macedon Ranges. Close to well-known tourist areas.
This comfortable room is in a cabin with its own separate entrance, next to my cottage. Double bed with comfortable latex mattress. Slippers provided. In the room is a TV, dvd player, wifi, fridge, double-ring portable electric cooktop for light cooking, toaster and kettle, micro-wave, large sink with hot/cold water, all you need for preparing/cooking breakfast and other light cooking , split-system air-conditioning/heating, clothes cupboard, hangers and hanging space, small dining table and 2 chairs, You will find the ingredients for a continental breakfast in your fridge - eggs, milk, butter, jam, honey, fruit, bread, tea, coffee etc. All organic where possible. If you would like to try an Ayurvedic porridge for breakfast, (wonderful on a cold winter's morning!) I can prepare that for you on request, for a small extra charge. Your shower and toilet is in my work-place cabin a few meters across the garden - you have exclusive use of the ensuite there. You have access to the bathroom in my cottage in the case of wet weather, or if you prefer. (My cottage is adjoined to the guest cabin by connecting door.)
Riddells Creek is a small peaceful country town at the foothills of the Macedon Ranges, surrounded by lovely rural pastures and bushland. I take my dogs on some beautiful country walks in the area. Kangaroos are frequent visitors, even to my street, and my garden is visited by many beautiful colourful birds especially rosellas, lorikeets, fairy wrens and honeyeaters, as well as the typical Aussie battler, the magpie! In the town we have one small supermarket , an excellent deli, a couple of good cafes, a very good Indian restaurant, a Thai restaurant and a pizza and pasta place. There is a small medical centre, pharmacy, hairdresser, post office, lovely neighbourhood house, a pub and the best op shop for miles around! A few kms away is Gisborne or Macedon for other lovely eating places, pubs and wineries. There is a pretty park and lake in Riddells Creek. Dromkeen historic homestead is just outside Riddells Creek - lovely big house on 25 acres with fascinating gallery and tearoom. The larger towns of Gisborne and Sunbury are 10 mins drive away, and on the train line. Riddells Creek is very well positioned for the city and the tourist areas of the Macedon Ranges, including Hanging Rock and many good wineries. The Spa Country, an area famous for its mineral springs, is about 40 mins drive away. Also Riddells Creek is a perfect peaceful stop-off if you are on your way round Australia
  • Lovely place, Caroline is kind and helpful, delicious brekKY. Thanks so much for having us

    Rose2017-04-01T00:00:00Z
  • Caroline's place was lovely and cozy. We were happy that the sun came out so we could enjoy breakfast (which was generously provided) at the table in the garden. We had everything we needed for a night's stay.

  • My friend and I just had a lovely weekend away. Staying at Caroline's peaceful place was a treat. She is a very welcoming host - friendly and warm. The room was very comfortable and cosy, and everything neat and clean. We really recommend the Ayurvedic porridge that Caroline prepares for you on request - very delicious. The surrounding area is also lovely - especially liked our visit to the Hanging Rock. I would definitely recommend Caroline's place, and hope to return there again one day. Thanks Caroline for your hospitality.

  • We enjoyed our short stay at Riddells Creek. Caroline was most welcoming and the bedroom was warm and cosy, though the hike across the flooded lawn to the bathroom in another cabin was tricky in the rain!!
