“The train station is about a ten minute walk. Super easy. And, such a beautiful location to wait for the train. It is right behind the museum, facing the mountain and river. ”

“This is Lasse's favorite swimming destination. It is pristine. The lake feels alpine. Clear, deep water is surrounded by forests and large boulders for sunning and jumping off. It is never crowded and diving into the cool, big, tranquil lake, is lovely and rejuvenating. The downside: It takes 35 minutes to drive to this trailhead from the cabin. Then, it takes roughly 45 minutes to hike into Pisgah and to reach Kilburn Pond, but the trek is worth it. Make sure that once you reach the lake, you veer left to go around to the opposite side. The far side has the afternoon sun, so work you way around. Otherwise, you'll be in the shade by 2pm. Bring food and water. In July and August, there are wild blueberries to pick for a snack. Please notice: this is off the grid - no bathrooms! “Disclosure, Steve is the owner of Stephen Procter Ceramics. But we also think you'll be dazzled by what Steve does. He makes massive ceramic vessels, some pushing the limits of his 6' kiln. We'd be happy to give you a tour.”
