  • We were made to feel very welcome by Odile and James when we stayed one night in their lovely, family home. The beds were comfortable and the en suite was a convenient feature. There is a Waitrose very close by and it is a short walk into the town centre. Thank you for having us.

  • Lovely place-host replies very quickly and is extremely welcoming! We had a great time!

  • The accommodation was clean and well maintained, the host was friendly and very helpful. I would definitely recommend it to any one traveling to the Hitchin area.

  • Small but comfortable twin room, with a separate dressing room and private bathroom, away from the family home. We felt very welcomed and enjoyed our stay.

    Steve2017-07-13T00:00:00Z
  • We had a very pleasant stay with Odile and her family. The room is small, but very cozy. Good bus connection to Luton airport.

    Ingo2017-07-22T00:00:00Z
  • The bedroom is immaculately presented. Shower and loo a step across the corridor. Lovely linen and towels. Odile is a super host, very welcoming and friendly.

  • The house is clean and tidy and the family is absolutely lovely! Great place and you can park on the street overnight. I was worried about noise with the kids but this was not the case. I would definitely stay again if available next time I'm in town.

  • Thank you to Sue, Gavin and Myrtle (lab puppy very cute) for a lovely stay recently. As I was on my regular Grannie duty for 3 days it was good to come back to a home from home as opposed to a quiet hotel room and a lovely welcome from Myrtle. I loved being able to just flop down on the very comfy double bed in a lovely spacious and quiet room. This is an excellent location for anyone wanting to explore the area or visit friends and family. Sue and Gavin are extremely friendly and relaxed and have a great knowledge of the local area.

  • Sue and Gavin - THANK YOU! Maybe one should not give away all the lovely amenities of this beautiful place to save it for coming back .... But then somebody else would miss the opportunity to enjoy Sue and Gavin's lovely company in their amazing period house. For BnB users: everything is provided as in the offer, you get a hearty welcome with a good cuppa, privacy is respected at any time, most helpful hosts in any kind of different and difficult situations. The location as such is brilliant with excellent train connections to either London or Cambridge. A MUST for book and music lovers, you couldn' get better support for all your questions and needs.

    Claudia-Maria2016-03-24T00:00:00Z
  • Sue and her husband made me feel very welcome and were great hosts, always available to give advice with geography, transport, shopping etc. The room looks like on the photo but is larger than appears on the photo. The bed is against the wall and can be accessed from the side showing on the photo. The walk to the centre of town is 10-15 min. on foot and only 5 min to the train station. Hitchin is a convenient 30 min by train to London Kingscross or Cambridge. I would recommend to potential guests to take house shoes, I had forgotten mine and Sue lend me some but she might not have your size! The house has a nice garden with a hammock, a garden table and a pond with newts and dragonflies.

  • If you are looking for a lovely home that is comfortable, close to everything, welcoming and bright (with attitude and atmosphere), this is it. I came to visit the Taymount Clinic and I found this home to be a perfect balance and home base for me. (Please see more in depth review written for another week at Sue's place.)

    Danielle2017-09-23T00:00:00Z
  • The Best! Sue and Gavin are great hosts, I really couldn't have asked for a better family to stay with during my time in Hitchin. Sue answered my inquiry's about renting a room very promptly, and I could tell right away that she would be very easy to get along with, and would do her best to make sure everything went smoothly for me. She even took the time to contact me a few days before my stay to ask what kinds of breakfast things I wanted! They gave me access to their very well equipped kitchen, which was a huge help for me since I'm on a restricted diet and needed to do a lot of my own cooking. The house is in a quiet neighborhood less than 5 minutes walk from Hitchin Station. Down town Hitchin is about 5 more minutes away, it's a great location. The top floor loft room is bright and very spacious, it has a small bath with a full size tub, and is pretty quiet and private. I loved the memory foam bed and pillows! I slept great! It was fantastic to have a nice space of my own upstairs, but still be able to come down to the living room for tea, or to watch some BBC with the family if I was feeling more sociable. Gav and Sue always made sure to check in with me just to make sure I had everything I needed and were really just perfect hosts! I'm glad to have met you both! Cheers!

  • Sue and Gavin are the hosts who honor their property and their guests. Most important what they describe is less then what you actually get. In five stars, I give six! This full floor room gives anything one can ask for and even more. Wide desk to work, computer, HiFi, fast internet WiFi, ensuite huge bathroom, sofa and sofa chair, very comfortable double bed, room full of sunlight, very bright lights everywhere needed. Most important. QUIET but NEAR TO EVERYTHING NEEDED. As one other guest had said, it is a place to live in. Train station with excellent connection to London or Stevenage (and from there to the North) literally five minutes walk, a Tesco next to the train station, two pubs near by, the village center ten minutes on foot. Sue and Gavin are very easy going hosts, very open hearted, very careful and as social as you want them to be. Their dog is adorable. The whole house and its huge garden are exceptionally well taken care. All in all the ultimate place to stay if you want to work, or relax, or both, with the best host ever met. Go for it. :)

    Theophanis2017-07-14T00:00:00Z
  • Sue is a fantastic host! She makes you feel completely at home, making sure you have whatever you need. She goes out of her way to make sure you are comfortable. The house is situated perfectly just a 5 minute walk (or less) from the train station, and a 10 minute walk from the absolutely lovely town of Hitchin. The room (the top floor of the house) is very private, with its own bathroom, desk, sofa an bed, so you can disappear and be in your own space whenever you want, but also are welcome to spend time in the rest of the house. Sue keeps the room very clean, and is so kind enough to help do your laundry, if needed. A great place to stay and with such a kind and generous host.

    Nomi2017-03-25T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great option for Taymount clinic patients. The location is great, right between the train station and downtown Hitchin. Sue and Gavin were great hosts, I would highly recommend!

  • Perfect location for the station and town. Anthony's place has everything you will need for a stay with a comfy bed and lovely shower. It could do with more natural light for a long term stay but overall it was fine.

    Suzy2017-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • A very easy stay at Anthony's in a great location

  • There is a skylight with a shade that you can open and close but that is the only window in the room. The hosts are nice and checking in was easy. There is a stove, refrigerator, microwave oven and a washing machine.

  • This is easily the best space I've found so far. Felt like my own little Batchelor pad. Really well thought out. All the facilities I needed, I kind of miss it already...

  • Anthony was the perfect host, he was easily contactable and always willing to help us as guests. The home was very comfortable (even a heather for us chilly Aussies in a UK summer) and well supplied. Check in was very easy. The home is within easy walking distance to pubs, the town centre and the railway station. We hope to visit Anthony again next time we are in the UK. 10 out of 10.

Close to the Taymount Clinic, the station and trains to London and Cambridge. The bedroom with en suite, together with kitchen and conservatory, are on the garden level, down steps from the street level. There is plenty of storage, and the shower water is hot and plentiful.
Garden level double bedroom with built in wardrobe and a chest of drawers, leading to private en suite with spacious shower. There is a spare mattress for a child or extra guest in the room. The TV in the room gets all the free-view channels and it also plays DVDs. Wi-fi throughout the house.
My rather quirky house is in the Benslow area of Hitchin which is a residential conservation area about 7 minutes walk from Hitchin town centre. Hitchin has a lively market (veg and clothes etc. on Tuesdays and Saturdays, bric-a-brac and antiques on Fridays, car boot on Sundays), and the ancient Parish Church of St Mary's. The houses in this street are mostly Victorian and mine is said to be one of the prettiest! Hitchin is close to Letchworth, the first Garden City, and also close to the M1 and A1 motorways. Luton is a 15 minute car ride away (buses go there too).
  • Tish is a warm, generous and extremely likeable host. I felt privileged to be her first guest in her lovely home and honestly felt like we were old friends. Tish even kindly gave me a lift to the celebration I was attending! The accommodation is clean and modern and yet charming and homely and was a welcome retreat. Delicious breakfast too. It is a lovely area with plenty to do locally, which I didn't have time for on this occasion but am planning another trip soon! Thanks so much and good luck.

    Michelle2014-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • I spent about two weeks at Tish's place while I was in Hitchin. Tish is a great host and makes sure you have everything you need accommodations-wise, as well as giving good pointers for any touristy duties. The place was clean, well-kept, and easy walking distance to the center of town. I was able to use the kitchen to cook as well, which beats staying at a hotel (and is indeed more cost effective too). I enjoyed my time there and would definitely stay again!

    Robby2015-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you for a great stay... Tish offers comfortable and cosy accommodation in a great location close to Hitchin Town centre. For me, I look for somewhere that is very much home from home and Tish makes you feel very welcome. The room is lovely, the bed extremely comfortable and the shower room is fresh and modern with a great shower. Tish shares her home with her rescue dog and Tom the lodger both of whom are equally welcoming. Tish is a very interesting lady who is interested in people and will want to get to know you when you arrive. She has a good balance of making you feel very welcome but also leaving you to your own devices. I am looking forward to staying again.

    Sally 2016-07-11T00:00:00Z
  • What's not to like! Absolutely nothing. This is a charming period property equi-distance to Hitchin station & the historic market town. Despite the proximity to the railway station you cannot hear the trains. Tish is a welcoming host from the moment you arrive. The accommodation is well presented, comfortable, and has everything you would expect & more. It has views to a lovely established garden which guests are able to access. The ensuite is light filled with a spacious shower, heated towel rail & plenty of space for toiletries. The kitchen is conveniently located adjacent to the kitchen where a variety of cereals, toast, tea & coffee etc are available for breakfast. The accommodation is nicely private. I have no hesitation in recommending this accommodation.

    Lucy2015-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • Very nice accomodation! We have been warmly welcomed even though we arrived late at night and instantly felt comfortable in the room with its ensuite bathroom. In the morning we had some delicious bread for breakfast as well as cereals, milk, tea, orange juice and some spreadings. We have been just fine with the accomodation and would definitely book again if we happened to be in the area again. Thank you, Tish!

    Nadine2014-10-05T00:00:00Z
  • We were delighted with our choice and stay, Tish is a lovely welcoming and generous host, and has a lovely home with lots of character. Everything we could have wished for was provided and our three night stay was very comfortable. The room and en suite are spacious and well appointed with a good shower, the bed very comfortable with good bedside reading lamps, wifi, and it was lovely and quiet so conducive to a good night's sleep! The breakfast was available whatever time we wanted and was laid out in the charming conservatory off the kitchen with a nice view of an attractive garden, we could help ourselves to breakfast which was perfect. We were able to park ouside on the road each time we returned. This was the perfect base from which to visit friends and family in the vicinity. Tish gave us directions to the nearby Saturday and Sunday markets which we visited, and were good, Hitchen has a good High Street. This accommodation is much more relaxing and hassle free than staying in a busy hotel and I recommend it.

    Caroline2014-10-28T00:00:00Z
  • I stayed at Tish's for three nights and had a restful and relaxed time. The room is spacious, the bed comfy and everything had been thought of. The ensuite shower room is perfect too. Lots of space and a powerful shower. All spotlessly clean and tastefully decorated. Breakfast was a matter of helping myself to a choice of healthy and delicious things. I enjoyed chatting with Tish and her lodger Tom and meeting Tish's mum and her cute dog. Sociable but with privacy too. Just great!

    Juliet2016-06-24T00:00:00Z
  • This is a wonderful place to stay. The room in very comfortable and stylish. The bed is wonderfully comfortable and there is easy access to the kitchen if you want a simple meal or need to cook due to dietary restrictions. Tish is so kind and welcoming. The location could not be easier. It is an easy 10 minute walk to the train station if you wish to go to London. It is also an easy 10 minute walk to the charming and historic market town of Hitchin. I could not recommend it more!

  • Cristina was a very generous person and good hostess. I was very comfortable and happy at her house, and I loved Hitchin. The town is really clean and peaceful. I highly recommend this place.

  • Came to stay in Hitchin for training courses nearby in Luton. Cristina was was very welcoming, flexible and particularly knowledgeable of good restaurants! The room and bed were not only comfortable but just what I needed after a busy day. Thank you.

    Mathew2016-07-21T00:00:00Z
  • I came to stay with Christina Sonya during my time at the Taymount Clinic, and I couldn't have picked a better place. The location is amazing, the room is cozy and comfortable, and Christina Sonya couldn't have been more accommodating. Hitchin is a great little town with plenty of places to eat and shop, which was nice. I had everything I needed within walking distance. I highly recommend her place.

  • It was great to stay at Cristinas place. And I would do it again. It is a lovely place with everything you need. It is located next to the city centre, so you have everything close by. Cristina is really nice and funny person. So, I liked it a lot to be there.

    Evelyn2017-04-13T00:00:00Z
  • Christina is very welcoming and outgoing. This B&B is located in a really charming old section of Hitchin. Lovely priory grounds across the street. Town square and markets close by. Guests should know that it is a third floor walk up, one toilet on second floor, bedrooms on top floor. Paid parking is in a nearby lot.

    Diane2017-06-16T00:00:00Z
  • Cristina was very warm and made me feel very comfortable in her home. She was a helpful guide when I needed direction, a fun and interesting conversationalist and housemate . . . and also respectful of my need privacy and solitude. When the internet stopped working she fixed it immediately so that I would not be inconvenienced. Very accommodating and very easy to be in her space. The house is located in the midst of a sweet, small village or town, big enough to have everything a person might need, and small enough to feel quaint and quintessentially old Britain. A very good experience.

    Annelisa2016-03-26T00:00:00Z
  • Really had a fantastic time staying with Cristina. You are right in the centre of Hitchin, perfect location. The Taymount Clinic was just a 5 minute walk away through the town centre which was ideal for my treatment. Cristina is warm, welcoming and friendly. We got on really well and I would have no hesitation returning to stay there next time i'm in town. Bed was comfy and the bedroom a good size with a big desk where I could work. Kitchen was spot on for my self catering needs and I spent plenty of time cooking. Nice walk in shower, loads of clean towels. My favourite room was the lounge which is homely and comfortable. Overall a great trip and it was a shame to go home!

  • Sean's campervan is fantastic and we had a great weekend away discovering the north Norfolk coast. Communications were good and my queries responded to quickly, pick up arrangements were clear and Sean was very friendly when we met. He showed us how everything worked and the van was really well equipped. This was our first experience in a campervan and we will definitely be booking again.

  • Sean was a great host. He explained everything clearly and was very prompt in replying. He got out of his way to deliver the van to us and was very friendly. The van is easy to drive and great for a few days. We took our little family with us and was cozy enough for all of us to feel comfortable. And the roof bed was a hit with the boy! He loved getting in and out of it! Will use again.

  • Fab host. Good van with everyday items included.

    Claire2017-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • We hired Sean's campervan for our holiday exploring parts of Scotland and the van did us proud! Easy to drive and manoeuvre and Sean was happy to answer any queries before as well as during the trip. He was a very pleasant, responsive and friendly host which made the whole experience even easier. The van is really well equipped and comfortable, we all ended up sleeping quite incredibly long nights in tge end! Our son enjoyed the roof area for drawing and reading and hiding. I was worried that we had taken too much stuff but the storage at the back and beneath the seat there was great and there were no issues, the pantry storage was brilliant and stored a lot. Overall a great adventure and it meant we got to see a lot of the English and Scottish landscape away from cities which is exactly what we wanted.

  • All we can say is jack's place is amazing. It feels like a home away from home: classic, clean, tidy and easily accessible. The location is great and very close to city centre. It is good for a small group traveller esp. with children.

  • As a regular visitor to this area, rather than stay in a hotel, my mum and myself decided to look for something with more comfort and convenience. We honestly could not have asked for better. A very convenient, but quiet location. Spacious, comfortably furnished, clean and well presented. Helpful owner who responded quickly and informatively. 10/10 We will definitely be looking at staying again ... ticked all the boxes. Thank you.

    Jane2017-09-16T00:00:00Z
  • Jack was very responsive and the flat was spotless, thanks!

    Carl2017-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • We needed a one night stop over before catching a stanstead flight the next day and Jack's place was perfect. It was easy to find with convenient parking. Our late check-in didn't cause any problems and the flat was exactly as we expected. The beds were comfortable and the living room spacious. The milk, orange juice and bread left in the fridge for us was a great touch. We had a very quick stop in the centre of Hitchin the next morning and I immediately regretted that we didn't have more time to spend in the beautiful old town. The market square with all the coffee shops, restaurants and shops looked very quaint and like a nice place to chill out for a while. We will definitely be paying a visit when we are next in the area. Thanks Jack.

  • Accommodation is central located with all the amenites required for a comfortable stay. Jack made sure there was everything from what's required in kitchen, bedroom and toiletries. • Steve was a welcoming host, the house and room were very clean, the neighbourhood nice, safe and quiet, I have no hesitation on recommending it to anyone.

  • Steve and Martin were wonderful hosts! They were friendly and responsive and gave me full access to their house. The room was perfect, just as described. I had a very comfortable 4 night stay. I would definitely stay there again and would recommend it to friends. Thanks!

  • Steve and Martin are fantastic and Friendly. The house is quiet and large and the bedroom is large and cosy. With all the short cuts you are at the station or in the city center in about 10 minutes and the neighbourhood is safe, cosy and quiet.enjoy your stay. Hitchin is also a nice market town to visit. The city centre is a gem.

  • Hi, It was really good room and very nice persons to meet. I recommend this place if you want to stay night in Hitchin.

    Elvis2015-12-17T00:00:00Z
  • Martin and Steve are friendly guys who gave us an appropriate welcome.Their approach to airbnb is minimalist in the sense that they did not provide breakfast nor did they see their role to provide towels. However when requested they did provide a small towel each. The neighbourhood was fine and Hitchin itself is a most pleasant town to visit.

    Kathy2014-06-30T00:00:00Z
  • Steve and Martin were great, very kind and helpful. They were happy to answer any questions about the town or transport systems, and on a rainy day they offered me a ride to where I was going, which was great. The room and home are just like the pictures and everything is clean and well-kept. I was able to use the kitchen to cook as well. Thanks for everything!

    Maria2015-03-29T00:00:00Z
  • I really enjoyed my 11 nights staying with Steve and Martin. The room is really cosy and quite large. Although I stayed here on my own, it would definitely be big enough for two people. The neighborhood is really quiet and there is plenty of room for parking. Hitchin is a lovely town, perfect if you want to have access to a lot of independent shops and easy access to Stevenage and Letchworth. Getting in to town is surprisingly easy, it's literally just down the hill. Steve and Martin are really nice to be around, and very pleasant to talk to. The house itself is very clean and well looked after. Would love to stay here again, when I'm back in Hitchin. Highly Recommended. Jamie

  • Steve and Martin were lovely, although I didn't see much of them as I was working, I was made to feel at home. Good location close to the centre.

An urban holiday? A charming Victorian ex-railway building (The Station Gatehouse ) on the entrance to Hitchin Station, 35 miles north of London ((25 mins London Kings Cross, 40 mins to Cambridge) National Express coaches from Gatwick, Heathrow.
A charming Victorian ex-railway building, the old station gatehouse, which now a detached bungalow with a small fenced private BBQ area, ideal for a self catering holiday, ideal for non-drivers, or on property secure parking for 2 vehicles.
All amenities close by, Tesco Express, Macdonalds, Pubs, Restaurants, Cafe, Fish and Chip shop, plus the beautiful Hitchin Town Centre.
  • I made this reservation on behalf of my boss who was traveling from the US. It was also his first time in the UK. Needless to say, I had a lot of questions leading up to the arrival date. Jonathan was quick to respond (despite the time difference) and helpful with suggestions. The description of the location is accurate and the proximity to the train station did not pose any noise issues.

    Holly2015-11-08T00:00:00Z
  • Made very welcome nothing wrong with the property ,would stay again.

    Dean2015-10-02T00:00:00Z
  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Hitchin Station Bungalow. It became our home for a full month. The bungalow was newly refurbished with new flooring, curtains, and a washer/dryer. We had plenty of space, with anywhere from 2-4 people staying at a time. There is a Tesco Express right next door that made it easy to get food items at most times of the day. Three other larger grocery stores and markets are near the center of town. It was very conveniently located to the train station and the sound the trains was not overwhelming; we stopped noticing it after a day. There is a significant hedge buffer between the house and the street/station that blocks the view of passers by. Hitchin is a primary stop for many trains throughout the day, so we could easily and conveniently catch a train to and from London any time we wanted. For an easy 30 minute ride, it was worth staying in a quiet town to avoid the busyness of London, but still be able to go to the city to see the sights and shop. We were also able to travel to many other towns and cities easily by train through Hitchin. The bungalow is a 10-15 minute walk from the center of town. It is also within walking distance of the Taymount Clinic, which is in the center of town, for any who are coming to town for treatment. Having a full kitchen and a full, clean bathroom was essential. The daily walk was easy. Jon is very accommodating and was available any time we needed him. He was a pleasure to talk to and get to know during our time in Hitchin. Also, the wifi is super fast. We loved it.

    Ann2015-05-01T00:00:00Z
  • Comfortable warm cottage, well located near local amenities. Positive welcome from the host, couldn't ask for more.

    Ann2015-11-16T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely bungalow in a great location. Easy access to both the train station and town center and Taymount clinic. Jonathan was very nice welcoming us upon our arrival. Would definitely recommend this bungalow to other travelers!

    Tiffany2015-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • Jon and Mel made us feel most welcome and communication was good. Cottage is unique and perfectly located for access to London, Cambridge and HP World all about 30 mins by train. Next to train station, close the windows and you wouldn't even know! Patio area great for outside food/ drinks. I would thoroughly recommend this property and safe to say we would return in a heartbeat.

    Steven2015-07-05T00:00:00Z
  • Just a perfect stay!!! So well located (10 minute walk into town or 25 minute train into central london). Ideal for the 4 of us. Jon was a star. Was there to greet us, explained everything in super quick time and then simply left us to it. Nice touches like flowers and welcome chocolates for the kids makes the difference. Thanks again Jon. We'll be back ;-) !!!

    Matt2016-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • We had such a good stay at Hitchin Station Bungalow! It was exceptionally clean, well-equipped, and quiet. We could barely hear the trains or the pedestrians outside. The fresh flowers were a delightful touch. There were also a lot of extras that made our too-short stay even easier: toilet paper, plenty of cookware, paper towels, kitchen towels and sponges, etc. There was even a universal adapter plug in the living room. Our advice to other guests is to park off the driveway on the left, between the patio and the shed, so the grumpy neighbor doesn't bother you. Jon was responsive and readily available for questions. We had zero problems and would stay here again in a heartbeat!

  • Michelle's place is spotless and well equipped. Access to the property was easy and it was perfectly located for attending a wedding at Letchworth Hall Hotel. The bedding was luxurious and the house well designed. Michelle has clearly thought carefully about the comfort of her guests. Many thanks for offering your lovely home to us.

  • Michelle's place is lovely, beautifully kitted out with everything as described (if not better than). We stayed as a family with a 5yr & 3yr old and it was fabulous to stay somewhere so well cared for and (spotlessly) clean. As a host Michelle was great, really prompt and helpful in response to my queries which is exactly what you want as a guest. We were in Hitchin for a family get together at the The Sun Inn, which was under 10mins in a taxi. Perfect. Happy to highly recommend this home.

  • We had a good stay. The house was in a good location, clean and well presented.

    Phil2016-08-30T00:00:00Z
  • Michelle was in constant touch prior to us arriving. The apartment is compact, but well designed and feels roomy, the most important factor is that Michelle and Ruby make it feel like a home which helped make our stay special. Even though the previous tenant did not vacate at the required time and we had to wait an hour or so, this did not upset our stay too much.

    Rod2016-08-17T00:00:00Z
  • Michelle is a fantastic host - easy to contact and always quick replies. Her house is beautiful. Really modern and clean. It honestly felt like being in a hotel. Our fee also included a cleaner, which was a bonus. Great location too, only 10 minutes walk to the station or 15-20 minutes walk to the town centre. We would definitely recommend!

This family-friendly house is a short walk from Hitchin town square: walking through the market and past St Marys church. It's a 10 minute walk to the rail station, with trains to London in under 30 minutes. The modern kitchen with Range master stove, and gas BBQ out back, make it a great home for foodies. The cotbed, high chairs, stairgates and toys make it a great place to stay with a baby/ toddler. There's a spacious living room with 50 inch TV and fireplace; and seating in the garden.
    - A spacious, well equipped kitchen complete with all the appliances you'd expect (Range master stove, dishwasher, microwave, large fridge, rice cooker, bread maker etc) - A large lounge with a 50" TV and fireplace; and dining area with a table seating 6 (the table can be increased to fit 10 - let us know if you need additional chairs) - A bathroom with waterfall power shower - 3 bedrooms: two double beds; and a nursery with a cotbed suitable for a baby or toddler. (And an additional fold out double sofa bed in the lounge.) - Stuff for young kids: stairgates, 2 high chairs, gated outside play area, plastic cutlery/ bowls etc, changing table, toys, books.
The market town of Hitchin is a lovely old English town, and perfect to explore by foot from the house. It's just a 6 minute walk from the house into the town square. Places to explore include St Mary's Church, the old Corn Exchange, and the British Schools Museum. There are apparently over 100 coffee shops and many of them are lovely independent places, such as our favourite, Groundworks Cafe. There are also lots of independent shops to buy gifts and food, and a market which is open Tuesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. For meals out, we recommend the Hermitage (modern British), Los Reyes (tapas), Sukawatee (Thai/ Malaysian), and Pitcher & Piano (pub located in the old Corn Exchange). Sainsbury's, M&S and Asda are all within a 10 minute walk from the house.
  • This is a lovely house in a great location, only a short walk from the centre of Hitchin and a local supermarket. We felt very welcome and couldn't fault the house or the host!

  • Emma and her husband were great hosts. They welcomed us on arrival, showed us around and even gave us a food welcome pack. The house is lovely with a great garden and excellent amenities. The location is perfect for a walk around historical Hitchin. We would thoroughly recommend it to anyone else looking for a Hertfordshire break.

  • Emma is the perfect host and has everything set up to ensure the rental goes perfectly for her guests. From the hassle-free check-in to the special treats and welcome tray, it was lovely to arrive at their cute family 'nest' after a long day travelling. Location wise it is brilliant; on Saturday we nipped to London for a night out (30 mins by train) and on Sunday we blew some cobwebs away with a little stroll to the pretty town centre and lined our stomachs with a tasty brunch at Groundworks (look it up!). In the comfort of a stunning, well-equipped, kitchen, we whipped up beouf bourguignon for Sunday dinner and settled down to watch Strictly on the massive TV. What's not to love? Brilliant!!

Hitchin is a beautiful market town with an array of cafes, restaurants and independent shops. The town square often holds events including the "Rhythms of the world" festival (6/7 Aug 2016) and there is a twice weekly market. Hitchin also boasts a fantastic outdoor lido in the summer months.
  • Fantastic hosts! communication with Mike was great, nice, clean house. We had a fantastic time.

    Elisa2016-10-16T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely spacious family house. Generous sized bedrooms with great kitchen/diner/family room at the back which really makes the house. Recently landscaped garden has grassed area for children and a more grown up space with chairs, bbq and fridge just above. Cats no trouble, very independent during the day and easy to feed (my daughters highlight of the day!). Walking to Hitchin station takes about 20 minutes or less than 10 on a bike (BYOB). Host was very friendly & helpful, quick to respond during booking and kept in touch prior to and during our stay. They also let our children use their children's toys, cot, high chair etc which was really helpful for us (the host even got the sprinkler out for our daughter as we stayed during a really hot spell) Only negatives (which may not be a problem if you are not a tech geek like me) - wifi signal wasn't very strong so sometimes dropped off in parts of the house - no O2 phone signal at all - TV is a large Sony flatscreen but is not HD ready so you can't connect your own Apple TV/Chromecast etc (there are no HDMI ports)

  • A great stay, thank you. The house was a perfect space for us and our two children; the playroom was particularly enjoyed! We were also grateful for use of the drive and the garden. The hosts were very welcoming and communication with Michael was excellent. We also enjoyed looking after Suki and Ninja and staying for a few days in this modern and spacious home.

    Matthew2016-08-08T00:00:00Z
  • Hitchin is a really nice town and Mikes place is just 12 minute walk. The house is really cosy and has all the amenities. It's clean and tidy. The hosts are very considerate. We were not really sure what time we would be arriving and they fitted a key lock just before we got there. They were easy to contact and responded really quickly. We will definitely be back. Jacque

  • Nice house with a nice garden perfect for kids. Lovely cats! Lots of things to play for smaller children (2-5 years old). Great hosts!

    Nico2017-05-29T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent!!! Myself and 3 children were greeted by Mike and his son and given a tour around the house along with instructions for feeding the cats and watering the plants. Mikes home is "home away from" fantastic for young children with an excellent play room for children as well as a cot for my youngest this was the perfect set up! A beautiful family home with two cheeky cats was an excellent find for my 3 children whilst we're away on holiday visiting my family. Excellent hosts, great communication and a delightful added touch of a bottle of bubbly left for me (for my 40th birthday) as well as milk bread etc to get me started. I can't recommend this house/ family high enough Thanks so much Mike and family

  • We stayed at Jess's place as a family group in order to visit London. Hitchin station is a short drive away and trains into central London are frequent and run until late. The house is very pretty, comfortable, well equipped and in lovely surroundings. Jess and her husband were very friendly and helped make our stay a very pleasant one. For eating out, I would suggest the Fox at Willian rather than the Green Man (despite it's proximity) as the food, beer and ambiance were much nicer. I thoroughly recommend Jess's place.

    Julia2017-04-23T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent stay from start to finish. Cottage lovely and clean, thank you for airing beforehand!! Children had a great time, thank you for use of trampoline and table-tennis.

    Kay2017-04-21T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay in Jess' place. Jess was very easy to contact if we had any questions but gave us our space during our stay. Her cottage is cozy and comfortable. Exactly what we were looking for. Would have been nice to have wifi but that's all part of staying in a small village :)

    Ashley2017-09-19T00:00:00Z
  • Jess's place is a lovely little cottage, snug and welcoming. Jess was very helpful before our visit to ensure we found the cottage, giving us useful directions. It is a perfect place to stay for a visit to Hitchin. Thank you.

This is for a single room in a two bed 1st floor flat close to Hitchin Railway. It is located in a quite road 1 mile from the town centre with regular trains into central London with a commute time of 35 minutes into KX
15ft / 7ft bedroom. Large hanging rail with shelving storage above. Tallboy chest of drawers 1 small chest and a small shelving unit. If a desk is required one can be placed in the room.
This is a very quite area however backs onto the trainline and train noise is present although the double glazing drowns most of it out
  • Great clean place! 15 minute walk to the station. Would recommend and will be returning! Lovely and helpful hosts too!

  • One of the best airbnb places I've ever stayed. It's a little gem, the interior is superb, very comfortable, everything I could want or need was provided. Johnny is a very interesting guy if you get the chance to chat to him take it. He's very knowledgeable on the local area and London, don't be shy and ask for his advice. Fantastic.

    Michael2017-03-21T00:00:00Z
  • Johnny was a great host. Newly refurbished flat, so brand new large walk in shower, nicely decorated, comfy bed etc. Everywhere was very clean, including the kitchen, which you don't normally find on Airbnb. Fantastic, would recommend.

This is a very romantic 4 double bedroom house in a very chic area of Hitchin. Perfect for a family or a romantic weekend...There's one bathroom upstairs and toilets downstairs. Amazing rustic kitchen where you can enjoy lovely meals. You can enjoy a cup of tea in the living room in front of the fireplace. In the back room looking at the garden you'll find the smartTV.There are fast trains to kings cross london which takes 30-35 min. The price is for the whole house.
Rustic and romantic, all furnished. Beautiful big garden, very calm. There are 4 double beds one bathroom and one toilet
  • Upon our arrival there we received a very warm welcome and a tour of the house which was very helpful for us to know our way around. The house is absolutely beautiful and our bed was so comfortable, we enjoyed our stay very much and we'll be definitely staying there again. Rebeca is adorable and I couldn't recommend her house enough.

    Juliana2015-07-19T00:00:00Z
  • Rebeca's home was lovely and the perfect retreat for our 2 weeks in England. She was very kind and responsive and discounted our stay because her step daughter was staying in the house (just not using the common spaces except occasionally to heat something up in the microwave or use the oven). Her step daughter was very nice and helpful if we had any questions as we had problems with the espresso machine and oven. The bedrooms were spacious and the beds were very comfortable. We loved the kitchen as it was huge and we cooked there a lot. It's about a 20 minute walk into town or 5 minute drive. Hitchin is a very cute town with some great restaurants and shops! The only thing I would like to mention for future guests is that she has an indoor/outdoor cat. Jimmy the cat is a sweetheart but was definitely a bigger presence than what she initially told us. So if you are not a cat person or are allergic you probably wouldn't be comfortable here.

    Sara2017-09-23T00:00:00Z
  • Rebeca and her husband are very friendly that helped us to get familiar with the inside of the house and outside surroundings such as supermarket, train station by walking around with us in person. The house is very lovely, comfortable and spacious. I'll contact Rebaca once I go to the town again. .

  • We were a group of 5 adults touring the UK for 9 days. We found everything to be fantastic and got to see so much. The motorhome was brand new, fully equipped and everything worked to perfection. Sean was very friendly and swift to reply. He really did go that extra mile to make sure we would have a great experience including pick up and drop off at the airport. 5 big thumbs up! Note - Since the Autograph is a big motorhome, if you have no experience with driving large vehicles, you should really think twice. Take it slow, use your mirrors and stay clear of farm roads or tight parkings and you will have a great experience.

    David2017-08-02T00:00:00Z
  • A truly wonderful motorhome and a charming host. You really couldn't ask for any more. Easily accessible from London, and a secure place to leave your car whilst you're renting the Van. We were a family of five and had plenty of space. The beds are comfortable, kitchen has everything you could need and even off grid the solar panels kept the battery charged.
