Parks & nature in Hudson Heights, Manhattan

“Easiest to take the train up to Dyckman Street in order to get here, but VERY worth the travel for the gorgeous river views and beautifully maintained gardens in the park. The Met Cloisters, located in the center of the park, is stunning as well. Wander the park till you find the west-facing terrace, and then enjoy the spectacular sunset.”

“The highest natural point in Manhattan is found in Bennett Park. It's within walking distance of the Uptown Garrison coffee shop that I recommend. There’s an official plaque set into the rock, marking it as 265.05 feet above sea level. Bennett Park was the site of Fort Washington, the last stronghold in Manhattan of General Washington’s army and a resounding defeat by the Hessian and British onslaught. There is a replica of a Revolutionary War cannon, playground equipment, and a comfort station.”

“The walk across is windy but really nice. You can see the NYC sky line from here. Also, at night it's light up and looks so beautiful. ”
