“A rock'n roll bar and party venue, can get very rowdy but also a lot of fun. Try their speciality, cinnamon whisky shooter, a Hellfire.”

“On the weekends the space is transformed into a sunset drinks venue. During the week it’s a restaurant. Plants are everywhere & you would never say you are in the city ”

“Lively joint. A favourite of lots of the young and trendy Joburg residents. Just be sure to keep your cellphone tucked away, as it's also a favourite of pick-pockets.”

Whisky Bar

“This popular cigar lounge, dining room and entertainment venue offers live jazz music from Tuesdays to Saturdays. The stage has showcased some of South Africa’s finest established and fresh musicians, and this month you can expect acts like Tokyo Groove, Supafly, Candy Jam and Gavin Morein Trio. The live acts start at the following times (subject to change)”

Arts & Crafts Store
“The most established precinct on the edge of downtown Joburg, 44 Stanley is a mixed use development that fuses downtown urbanism with a subtle sophistication. A mix of carefully-curated, bespoke stores and independent restaurants gives the centre an authenticity that runs through eating, drinking, shopping, working and living experiences. Shady arcades and green courtyards between what was once a series of industrial 1930's buildings make this a unique Johannesburg space. Visit some of my favorite shops - Salvation cafe which always has fresh delicious organic food, Luna (fashion), Mungo (towels & throws), Bean There (coffee roastery), a chocolatier, bakery, jeweler, the Jozi shop (funky Johannesburg items) and loads of others. 5 mins drive from Greenside, unexpected & fun!”

“There is a restaurant in the back but it's a good spot to stop for a glass of wine, sit on the street and watch the city go by. ”

Sports Bar

“This is more of a sports bar. I like it a lot. It is laid back, not at all pretentious and a really cool place to hang out with your friends or meet other cool people. There are other cool places next door so its worth going to check it out and you can try the other spots too”

“Claiming a coveted spot on the corner of Jan Smuts and Bolton Roads, this new restaurant has very quickly become the go-to place for a night out with friends. Chef Andrew Green and his team serve a range of creative and light meals (think slow-roasted beef short rib with pickled egg yolk, and tonka bean panna cotta) and a comprehensive range of drinks (cocktails, craft beers, whiskeys and a fair number of wines by the glass). The location also offers the perfect vantage point from which to view the sunset and Joburg winding down as the traffic dissipates. Go to the new bar next door for great cocktail! so new it is yet to be named as of Jan 2017!”

“If you're young or young at heart and the kind of person who's into two cocktails for the price of one, this will be your spot. Haven't been there in ages though :)”

Bar
“One of Johannesburg's oldest, most iconic bars with great food and a restaurant to add to experience should you feel you need to fill up. Giles pub specially receives a freshly brewed Castle Lager keg tapped straight from their main Rosslyn brewery and tapped from the delivery truck into the Giles kegs every third day - what a treat! Top spot for sports fanatics! ”
