“Buzz Lanikai is a great place to eat after a long day at the beach. It is directly across from Kailua Beach Park. It's a little place, However, the food is quite good and the staff is awesome. You can meet many Kailua and Lanikai locals here. If you like ice cream pies, they are very good. Parking is very limited in their lot, but there is ample parking across the street at the Beach Park. (Don't leave valuables in your car.)”

“There are actually two Kailua locations. One on the North end of Kailua Beach Park and the other in Kailua Town just as you enter Kailua from the Pali Highway on the North side of the road. They have the best muffins I have ever tasted! Get them before your excursions. The burgers are excellent.”

“The iconic Kalapawai Market, the original green store, is located right next to Kailua Beach and sells locally made sundries such as Island Bee Honey, Hawaii Cookie Kitchen cookies and Manoa Chocolate, as well as beach gear, snorkeling masks and reef-safe sunscreen. Kalapawai Café & Deli, in the heart of Kailua, is known for its sandwiches and housemade lilikoi bars and cookies. If you’re in town early, grab one of its vegan muffins, which sell out early in the morning.”

“This a great breakfast place. I love their banana pancakes and Omelets. The price is very reasonable and you get the large portions you need for a full day on the Island. One great benefit is that if they are crowded it is a very short walk to Kalapawai Cafe. Which brings me to my next favorite place: Macadamia Muffins!! ”

“A short walk from Kailua Beach, shave ice shop Island Snow (its original location) is the perfect place to cool off after catching too much sun. President Obama would agree; he’s a fan of the cherry, lemon-lime and melona combo. Or choose from the shop’s all-natural Hawaii-made flavors like Makaha mango and jaboticaba, which tastes like a cross between a blueberry and a Concord grape. ”

“Unique and popular for its Macadamian Nut Pancakes. Not a fan of pancakes? Boots and Kimo's homestyle cooking is just as delicious and worth a trip to try! The restaurant is a bit far from my AirBnB location, but is worth it if you plan to spend your day at Kailua Bay and do some hiking/water activities. ”
