Landmark
“Kameiros is an ancient city. It lies on the northwest coast of the island, three km west of the village of Kalavarda.Kamiros was one of the three large Doric cities of the island, which united with Ialyssos and Lindos in the 5th century B.C. to create the powerful city - state of Rhodes. The ancient city was built on three levels. At the top of the hill was the acropolis, with the temple complex of Athena Kameiras and the stoa. A covered reservoir having a capacity of 600 cubic meters of water—enough for up to 400 families—was constructed about the sixth century BC. ”

Natural Feature
“24 km from Kritinia. In the village of Salakos there is a wonderful path in the pine trees and cypresses to reach Profitis Ilias. The Mount of Prophet Elias is at an altitude of 700 meters and was named after the Monastery of Prophet Elias. When the Italians captured the Dodecanese on 5 May 1912, they began the reconstruction of the island. So in the 1930s they created the village of Campo Ciaro in Eleousa and the two enchanting hotels "Elafos" in 1929 and "Elafina" in 1932 or "Cervo e Cerna" in Italian with a Tyrol western chalet architecture. These hotels improved in 1950. The area of Prophitis Ilias was full of forests where thousands of deer lived. ”

Point of Interest
“The Hellenistic ruins of Ancient Kamiros, which reveal the culture and history of our country, were discovered after the excavations of 1929 and other excavations that were made against the period of Italian domination. However, the first excavations in the area took place between 1852-1864 by Biliotti and Salzmann. Kamiros is one of the city - states created by the Dorians and the 5th century. B.C. was joined together with Lindos and Ialyssos so Rhodes was founded. The ruins are dated to the 3rd century AD. A few can be seen, such as the ancient market, a Doric temple and several arches, as many of the findings were transferred to the Louvre Museum, the British Museum and the Rhodes Archaeological Museum. ”
