Art Museum
“A visit to Kiasma is worth every visit. If the exhibitions do not light up, the atmosphere and architecture of the building will always be enjoyable - and at least one or two interesting works or new acquaintances will usually be on display. Kiasma's small museum shop is a great place to discover, especially for those who "already have it". The Kiasma Café serves snacks and good coffee, drinks and a very good lunch.”

“This is the classic department store, which regrettably has lost some of it's former glory, but it's still an interesting place to visit, especially if you need to get a lot of small errands and shopping done in one go.”

Church
“The Temppeliaukio Church, excavated in the rock, is located in the heart of Helsinki, at the end of Fredrikinkatu. Due to its unique architecture, the church, completed in 1969, is one of Helsinki's main attractions. The church hall is covered by a copper-clad dome, supported by rock beams on the rock walls. The inner walls are of rubble rock and quarry stone. In the morning sunlight spreads from a row of windows around the edge of the roof to the altar wall, which serves as an altar slab for a crack in the ice age.”

“The Helsinki Art Museum, HAM, looks after an art collection that belongs to the people of Helsinki, which includes over 9,000 works of art including the statues in Helsinki. HAM draws attention to modern art and contemporary art in its exhibitions at the Tennis Palace. Some of its galleries are also dedicated to an exhibition of Tove Jansson's (1914-2001) life and works. The works of the artist are amongst the most cherished pieces in the HAM collection. Some of the museum's exhibitions are always free to enter. At the Tennis Palace building you'll also find several cafés and restaurants, a museum shop as well as Helsinki's biggest cinema complex, Finnkino Tennispalatsi.”

Pizza Place

“Putte's Bar and Pizza, i.e. Putte, has become one of the city's classic pizza bars. Putte is also a family-friendly mix of a bar and restaurant, and the kitchen is open exceptionally late. The downstairs space, The Cellar, hosts evenings from club nights to concerts and other gatherings. Another great reason to check out Putte's is its art. The owner, Antto Melasniemi, has collected high-quality Finnish contemporary art over the years, which he hangs on the walls of his restaurant. ”

Place to eat
“Built in 1928, Yrjönkatu Swimming Hall is the oldest public swimming hall in Finland. The architecture of the building is historically and artistically noteworthy, representing a fine example of Classicism. Over the decades it has retained its original appearance, and after the renovations which - began in 1997 - the fantastically restored hall was reopened in October 1999. There are separate swimming sessions for men and women, with bathers having the choice of whether to wear a swimming costume or not. The option to wear a swimming costume became available from September 2001. On the second floor you'll find a steam sauna as well as wood and electrically heated saunas. Between swimming and sauna on the 2nd floor you can relax in your own cabin and enjoy the menu of Café Yrjö.”
