  • A really room! Lovely stay!

  • I could not recommend Brighton Heights enough. Pete and Seb were amazing hosts: friendly, helpful and generous. Their house is beautiful and the quirky, decor was stunning. Our room and shared bathroom were extremely clean and well stocked with anything you could need. The location is about 20mins walk from the city centre which worked well as the location was both quiet and easy to get parking. I will definitely stay in the Copper Room again if we return to Brighton. Thank you for a great weekend!

    Karen2015-08-16T00:00:00Z
  • The room and house was so beautifully and uniquely decorated. It felt like a boutique hotel for a fraction of the cost. Seb was very helpful and welcoming. Would definitely love to stay here again and highly recommend. Great location also.

    TING2017-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • I booked both the Copper and Silver room to stay with my parents, and we all had a very comfortable night. Seb and Peter clearly have an excellent eye for detail! I really appreciated little touches like eye masks in the rooms. I was particularly impressed by the excellent breakfast (they had everything covered!) and the cleanliness of the bathrooms - plus I never had to wait to use one. It was also a pleasure meeting their beautiful cats!

    Jess2017-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely house, warm and cozy, great view out of the kitchen window as well. Only met Seb as Peter was away but he was very friendly. Would 100 percent stay again! Thanks gents. Aysha and Anna

  • Peter and Seb were helpful and accommodating when I did not stay as planned at the last minute. I recommend them.

    Richard2015-10-10T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay with Peter and Seb and the house is beautiful! We had never visited Brighton before, the house was the perfect place to stay with easy access into the centre of Brighton via bus or cheap taxi.

    Charlotte2015-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • Thanks Seb for all your work in making an very comfortable place to crash in Brighton. We loved our room, warm, lovely soft bed, shutters we could close, a place to hang our stuff up and a very clean, (shared) attractive bathroom. We didn't stop for breakfast only because we wanted to use our time in town. Pauline and Dennis

A self-contained 2-bedroom flat adjacent to our home with separate access on the idyllic Kingston Ridge . Ideal for walkers, the South Downs way is at the end of the private no-through road, or the County Town of Lewes is a 2 mile walk away (or a ten minute drive). Brighton is 8 miles down the road, with a regular bus service. The apartment is ideal for 4-6 people but has a maximum capacity of 8 (sofa bed). N.B. We have a very friendly dog.
  • Nice place. Kind and helpful hosts. We would definitely come back

  • One of the best places we’ve stayed in through Airbnb. Incredibly clean and well equipped. The beds are insanely comfortable. Great hosts and great location.

    Ellie2017-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • Really really lovely place!! We was greeted by Pat on arrival and shown inside to gorgeous fresh bread ,cupboards full of all the essentials and what topped it off for me was prosecco chilling in the fridge! Lewis was lovely to explore and with it being a rainy day, the accommodation was perfect to retreat to. The walks around were gorgeous too!! Take your walking shoes and make sure you walk to the top of the hill to the right! Gorgeous views!

    Lizzie2017-08-03T00:00:00Z
  • It was a lovely, new apartment. A bottle of wine and loaf of bread plus extras were left for us in the kitchen and bathroom. It had everything we needed. The beds were comfortable including the sofa bed. Pat and Jake kindly provided a wheelchair ramp and matting. It was very quiet in a lovely village with good pub down the road. Brighton and Lewes are quite close. We really enjoyed our stay.

    Anne2017-07-16T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely two night stay at Pat and Jake's property. As it was all on one level with no steps at all it was ideal for our 21 month old and she had a great time wandering around exploring the rooms. The freshly baked bread and drinks in the fridge were a very welcome surprise! The property was very well stocked and we were particularly impressed with all the toiletries provided. We would definitely recommend this property to other travellers - just wish we could have stayed longer!

  • A wonderful location and excellent venue. Would highly recommend staying here

    Julie2017-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • This newly renovated apartment is attached to owner's house, with its own entrance and access to the garden. It is set in a secluded and peaceful location straight onto the South Downs. The kitchen and bathroom are really well stocked with lots of extras and the sofas and beds are really comfy. Buses into Brighton and Lewes stop a very short drive away making trips to surrounding places very easy by bus or train. Our hosts, Pat and Jake and family, were very welcoming and relaxed. We had our crate trained dog with us and the property has its own self-contained garden so it all worked very well. A great place to stay.

    Bob 2017-05-21T00:00:00Z
  • Great space, nice and quiet area. Very easy access for Lewes and Glyndebourne (£15-20 taxi). Pat and Jake are very responsive and helpful hosts.

  • My friend and I really enjoyed our stay at Lara's. We received a very warm welcome but also enjoyed the privacy of the room, which allowed a long overdue catch up! Lara was kind enough to put out an extra mattress for us too. Plus, the house is in easy walking distance to Lewes across a lovely country path (which provides much slippy entertainment after some rain). I hope to stay again some day. Thank you!

They were very accommodating, making sure we had everything we needed for our visit and were happy to offer suggestions on where to go and what to do in the area. The room is super clean, tidy, spacious and their home is beautiful. A delightful country pub is right across the road that has a fantastic menu. The walk to Lewes is pleasant and not too far. The room is very light with a comfortable bed. The house is close to Lewes, Sussex University and 8 miles from Brighton. It's a 5 minutes walk to the South Downs (15 mins to the South Downs Way). The location is normally very quiet and peaceful, perfect for walkers and cyclists. When the weather is good you are welcome to sit in the garden. Tea, coffee, milk, cereal, bread and eggs will be left in the room.
The room has a large skylight; it's very light even on a dull day. It has its own shower room, a very small fridge, a two ringed hob and sink. It is a good space to work in as well as to relax.
This is a friendly village. The road is often busy with walkers going up the Downs; there is very little traffic.
  • I would not hesitate to recommend Clare's lovely studio. When we arrived we were greeted with freshly picked flowers and everything we could want for breakfast including eggs, fresh bread, homemade marmalade, tea, coffee and juice plus some delicious biscuits. It is like a home from home and we instantly felt relaxed. The bed was super comfy with lovely quality pillows, duvets and bedding (so many places seem to scrimp on these), the shower is powerful and there is enough space to sit and chill just with the sound of birds for company! Although clare was away her friend was on hand to welcome us and couldn't do enough to make our stay more comfortable. Thank you, we hope to be back.

  • We had a lovely stay - Clare is kindness itself, and really welcoming; the room is kitted out with everything you might need and is very comfortable. My daughter and I spent a happy week visiting English Heritage houses among the South Downs and plan to return. We would not dream of going anywhere else than Clare's.

  • Clare made me feel very welcome when I arrived. Everything is as you see in the photographs, it is a lovely spacious room and had everything I wanted. Our home is on a cul-de-sac leading up onto the South Downs. In summer enjoy walks from your doorstep and watching the sunset over the fields and in winter sit by the cosy fire. The living, dining and kitchen area is split on 2 levels, creating a spacious relaxing atmosphere. This is our family home and although some clothes space will be available for you, our belongings will remain in the rooms and cupboards. We would require guests to feed our cat if we are away at the time of your visit.
  • The house is fantastically located and brilliant for a group of friends to go for a weekend of walking. The view is amazing. The beds were all comfortable. The kitchen is very well stocked with useful bits and bobs.

  • The house is a wonderland of colour and positivity! Sacha was kind and accomodating with advice about the area and a later check-out. The garden is really special, looking out on to the downs. We had a large group of 8 people and spent a weekend here walking, cooking and sitting around the fire. Absolutely perfect, we wouldn't have changed a thing!

  • We stayed at Joe's hut two weeks ago and I have to say we had the best time ever! Joe and his wife welcomed us warmly and made sure that everything was ready at our arrival (outdoor fire pit, music, little candles light up...). Living in London, this little getaway was exactly what we needed! Peaceful, quiet, nice hosts and amazing breakfast in the morning. I will definitely recommend Joe's hut to anyone looking for a little break, escaping the noisy city for a while.

    A peaceful, south-facing studio with off-street parking
If you're looking for peace and quiet with easy access to the South Downs then this studio is for you. The room has underfloor heating and its own entrance and parking space. It's not as central as some of the locations in Lewes but being on the west side of town has advantages: you're two minutes from spectacular countryside, you're handily-located for Brighton and Sussex University and if you're an opera lover we'll take you to Glyndebourne and back again - circumstances permitting!
Houndean Rise is a quiet, leafy area off the Brighton Road with views over Kingston and the Downs. It's fifteen minutes' walk into the centre of town and two minutes from the bus-stop.
  • We had a lovely stay at James' gorgeous garden studio. The underfloor heating makes it so cozy and together with the super comfy bed and all the little touches makes you want to stay indoors for longer than planned. Quite an amazing collection of books could have kept us there for hours. We were so thankful for the delicious granola and fruits left for us. We could also make our own teas and delicious expresso in the machine provided. Seriously indulging for a couple who escaped for one night. Loved seeing the East Sussex countryside which I did not know, and to not need to take the car to reach the Downs was a plus. We will definitely come back. Perhaps in Spring when the lovely garden will give us even sweeter views. Thanks so much for a lovely stay.

    Stunning garden studio

The Garden Room is bright and spacious with lovely views to the south across the Lewes Brooks. There is a well equipped kitchen area, and you have your own front door. Cereal, milk, tea, coffee and other breakfast provisions will be waiting for you for your first day. We are close to Lewes but with open fields nearby. It is a ten minute walk to a farm shop/cafe and also to a pub that can provide meals and the local beer. A cot and a small child's bed are available at no extra cost.
The Garden Room is a good place to relax or to work in. There is indoor and outdoor space; it is warm and comfortable.
The Garden Room is about one mile from Lewes with all its amenities and travel connections, but it is at the foot of the South Downs with very many lovely walks and bike rides right from our doorstep.
  • This is a lovely room and walkable from the centre of Lewes. It is spacious but cosy and colourful.

  • Lovely stay in the Garden Room which is very comfortable, well-equipped and clean. Great base for exploring the area and walking distance to the farm shop/cafe and an excellent local pub called The Swan.

  • Wonderful place to stay in Lewes, sunny bright beautiful garden room.

  • The room is fantastic, clean, tidy and perfect for a great night sleep. Very handy for travelling into Brighton and surrounding area. Highly recommended.

  • This place completely met my expectations from the description. It was clean, spacious and warm (with the welcome option of extra bedding/heating as it was one of those cold/wet summer snaps!) I really appreciated the kitchen area with all its equipment and welcome food bits. Shower was great too and the overall feel was of comfort and ease. Clear instructions for rubbish/recycling. Chris and her husband were lovely hosts, there if I needed them but ample privacy too.

  • A fab location. A very pretty self contained large double room with kitchenette. Lovely views, quiet and secluded. Host left a breakfast which was lovely as didn't say it was included. My only regret is that we were only there literally to sleep! Would go back if ever in that area again!!

    Robyn2017-06-11T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely large separate space- perfect for couples or small family. Nice walkable distance for going to a wedding nearby. Lovely touch by providing small breakfast provisions for the morning

My place is close to great views, walks, a 15 minute drive to the beach, family-friendly activities, and art and culture. The village itself is charming and quiet but only a short distance from Lewes and close to the city of Brighton. You’ll love my place because of the ambiance, which is a mixture of Zen and a love of nature. My place is good for solo adventurers. For individuals wanting a quiet retreat or those wanting a nourishing space to stay whiles walking the downs.
  • Beautiful and quiet space very restful and serine. Emma is very welcoming and a great host would highly recommend staying here.

  • Staying with Emma was like catching up with an old friend. I had a lovely stay and made a new friend! Thanks again and I would certainly recommend her place to a everyone!

  • A lovely peaceful and quiet home, convenient for those like me, dong the Bloomsbury thing, or for others interested in exploring the South Downs. Emma is a welcoming hostess - relaxed, friendly, and unobtrusive. The room is perfect for one person - clean, nicely decorated, with an excellent reading light (important to me!). The bathroom is large and clean, even if the shower is a bit fiddly. It is excellent value-for-money.

    Heather2017-09-18T00:00:00Z
  • It was a great pleasure to be a guest in Emma's lovely home. I love the sense of peace and elegant style that she has created, which really enhanced my short break away from London. The sweet room has everything one needs. The village is pretty, and Emma suggested some beautiful walks nearby - Lewes is wonderful to explore too. Highly recommended and I hope to return soon, thank you Emma!

You’ll love our home because it's really quiet with stunning views of the sea and downlands. There is also a huge garden to enjoy! Our place is ideal for singles and couples.
An easy going warm, quiet environment situated in Woodingdean Village, 5 minutes from the stunning South Downs - with gorgeous views of the sea. The room is on the first floor of our house with views into our beautiful large garden; where you can get a good night’s rest and wake up to the sounds of birds singing! The large bedroom has a very comfortable king size bed with memory foam mattress and mattress protector. Clean linen and towels will be provided for each guest(s). There is a large wardrobe including hangers, desk and chair, bedside tables, 49” Smart TV with freeview channels, bedside lamp, fan, quirky alarm clock and a cosy blanket. The bedroom door is lockable. Kate works from home for her Nutrition business, so will mostly be available in the day if needed. We really want you to feel relaxed during your stay so please ask if you have any needs we haven't covered before or during your stay. We prefer to accept guests with AirBnB reviews, so if you're new to the community and don't have any yet - please describe a little about yourself and your reason for visiting. Many thanks.
Woodingdean is very tranquil and our super quiet street is in a friendly community. We are close to Rottingdean Village right on the seafront with lovely village pubs with our favourite being the Pond where you can have a traditional roast dinner or indeed try one of the many tea houses with their selection of cream teas. We are also near the Kemptown area (Brighton City Centre) which has quirky and unique shops, boutiques and bars/restaurants; not forgetting the lanes which is full of individual shops and markets ideal for a great day out shopping. Brighton Marina is just down the road and has a great cinema and lots of restaurants, bowling and a casino.
  • What a lovely room and a lovely couple. The room was immaculate and worthy of a boutique B&B. Kate and Guy were extremely friendy and relaxed. The house is beautifully kept and in a lovely quiet spot. Highly reccommended.

Middlefarm is 5mins from Charlston and besides its variety of free range animals and bird species, sells organic produce and cider.
  • We arrived soaking wet, tired and cold after a long haul over the Downs. Irene had a huge pot of tea and a fire ready for us to help us warm up and dry out our shoes. She is a charming, friendly host who really went out of her way to look after us, from the tea and fire on arrival to a great breakfast, help getting to the pub and navigating us back to the Downs for another day of cycling. I'd definitely return if out this way again. Thanks Irene & Sam

Our room was as described and Irene was super helpful and friendly. We enjoyed our breakfast. The village and South Downs are a great place to enjoy walking and relaxing.

  • Martin is simply the best host I've ever stayed with. Eggs, milk, decent coffee, fruit, he couldn't have done more. He is also a lovely human being! The conversion is to a really really high standard. Slick, stylish, lovely bed sheets, everything you could wish for. A truly fantastic place to stay. I honestly can't recommend it highly enough.

  • I think we were the third guests to stay. This is a beautiful and thoughtfully converted 'loft' style annex. Quality fittings and furnishings along with individual art work. Super comfortable bed, large bathroom. Excellent choice of breakfast materials. Set in lovely gardens. Totally recommend. Hopefully back for our convention next year.

  • This lovely conversion is like something out of an interior design magazine. It's amazing. They have thought of absolutely everything. It's so private and cosy. And it's great to know they're close by. I can recommend having your own transport. There are shops near by, and a superb chippy! The bed is very comfy and the whole place feels very luxurious. It's such a find we couldn't believe our luck. Thoroughly recommend the space and the hosts - so kind and welcoming. Their dogs are adorable! A creative, stylish, comfortable space!

  • We stayed here for two nights and initially chose the retreat because of the location. It is a lovely modern studio with great facilities. It was spotless throughout and very comfortable. Martin was a great host and the little extras really makes this place stand out from the rest. Thanks, Lexi & Joe

  • Grade - Gold Standard or A+ I  had a 3 night stay. Could have stayed longer. I very much enjoyed my stay. The accommodation is an exceptionally well equipped and designed quirky studio (converted garage) unit that has a great feel about it. The hosts were very generous in the supplies that they left. Access to the studio is via a private entrance. I must confess that at times I did struggle with locking and unlocking the door. The accomadation is about a 10 min drive from Brighton. There is plenty of on street parking about. The neighbourhood feels safe. There is a bus service to Brighton. Within a 5 min drive there is a small supermarket and a few other shops. I did notice a pharmacy. David and Martin are the hosts.  I only met one of them. He was very helpful, polite and friendly.  A real plus was that the hosts were not intrusive. They have two dogs as well as couple of children staying with them. The household was quiet, warm and welcoming.

  • This was our first air bnb experience and will be difficult to beat. The accommodation was immaculate and really spacious, the pictures don't do it justice! On arrival we were greeted by our hosts who were lovely and couldn't have been more welcoming. The attention to detail was fantastic, all the essentials such as bread, milk, coffee were provided, as well as extra toiletries. It's only a short drive to places such as Brighton and Lewes, as well as the beautiful coastline of the seven sisters, making it a great location. We were genuinely gutted to leave, but we will definitely be visiting again. Thank you Martin and Davey!

    Olly2016-10-28T00:00:00Z
  • Everything was as described and there were no disappointing surprises. My wife and I stayed for 4 nights. What attracted us was the price and free parking - neither of which disappointed. Flash advised us in advance that there would be other students staying, but they were no trouble whatsoever. Father of Flash is always there. Whilst he is friendly and helpful his constant presence might be uncomfortable for some. But by far the most appealing aspect of this stay, is the complete silence at night which allows for a pleasant sound sleep. Good value for what you pay for.

    Donald2017-04-10T00:00:00Z
  • We had to cancel our charity bike ride due to the treacherous weather over Easter and so didn't have the opportunity of staying in Brighton with Fash. However, communication was a pleasure and the place looks great in the photos so I'm sure we would have liked the accommodation had the trip gone ahead.

Cosy compact home with views of the sea. Approx 10 mins walk from Sussex Hills. Easy access to pretty historic village of Rottingdean. Lots of lovely walking nearby. Off road parking for 3 cars.
It is a pretty bungalow. It has plenty of parking space both in the parking bay at the front of the bungalow as well as a small front garden. It has a bathroom with wash basin, bath and shower unit combined and a small adjoining room with a separate toilet and wash basin area. It has two double bedrooms and a single bedroom as well as a study which adjoins the dining room area. There is a kitchen a with a dining room attached. The back garden has a patio area which gets all day sunshine and a grassy area behind it. The garden is small and pretty. The street is quiet and has easy access to the National park which begins at the top of the road. There is also a children's play park with an area for skateboarding.
It is a street full of various different types of house and bungalows which were mostly self built by the residents in the 1950's. Each house is unique.
  • Very comfortable house, very well equiped. Perfect for a family with 2 children or teenagers. We felt like home. The view from the frontside of the house is perfect (sea view !) and the garden is very enjoyable. Very good location if you like to go running or walking : the Castle Hill Nature Reserve is very close and is a very nice place.

  • I went to Brighton with my husband and son to watch my daughter play soccer. This cottage was a great home away from home. Helena was a wonderful host, with excellent communication! The bus stops were close by, as was a lovely little café with great breakfast. I would highly recommend this cottage and Helena!

    Teri2017-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • Helena was a very welcoming host who kept me well informed prior to my visit to her beautiful home, as she was not going to be in the country whilst I had my visit, so advised me of where a key would be and giving me an emergency contact number if it was needed, as well as being able to contact her if needed. Upon arrival everything was as described, although I feel she under stated her home. The second I opened the front door I felt at home, everywhere was spotless, with plenty of fresh bedding and towels if needed. The view from the front bedroom windows were stunning, being able to see the sea was amazing. The kitchen was very well equipped and had everything you could possibly need. The garden was very well kept and secure, which saved having to worry when my dogs were let out. A 15 min drive took you right into the heart of Brighton, with everything it has to offer. The property was on the edge of a National Nature Reserve, with breathtaking views. This was my first experience with airbnb and i was not disappointed.

    Debz2016-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay at Helena's bungalow. Helena wasn't there to greet us but left lots of details and information for us on arrival. The bungalow itself is 10mins drive from the beautiful little historic village of Rottingdean and little less than a 10mins walk from the stunning South Downs. 40mins drive from Birling Gap and Seven Sisters Country Park and 20mins drive from the Devils Dyke. So for us, this was a great location to explore the Sussex sights! We especially enjoyed many walks on Castle Hill Nature Reserve and our little dog Rosie had a great time! The bungalow sits in a very quiet neighbourhood except for Beaky and Squeaky the resident seagulls who are very entertaining. We had fantastic weather during our stay and got to enjoy the lovely garden and BBQ a lot. There is a regular bus service into Brighton itself which is very handy. All in all we had a great stay at Helena's bungalow, the only criticism I would have is just regarding the cooker as the markings on the hob had rubbed away so it was a bit tricky to read the instructions, but we worked it out in the end so was all good!

Lill Stugan is a self catering garden flat rented out mainly on a weekly basis, sleeping two adults (and 2 children on a futon). It is also run as a B&B for guests wanting a short stay (1 - 2 nights) with breakfast food provided.
  • Alanagh was very welcoming helping us with our luggage when we arrived and when we left and being helpful and kind throughout our stay. The walks right out of the back gate from the garden were a highlight of our stay and there were toys and books for my 2 year old daughter which was very helpful. We had a lovely time and would highly recommend this as a place to stay.

    Tina2016-04-08T00:00:00Z
  • Alanagh was a fantastic host, looking at the little details to make our stay special including toys for our toddler and a paddling pool bath in the shower. She was extremely helpful and friendly both on arrival and departure as were the local details she left in the apartment. The apartment itself was exactly what we were looking for and the bed was super comfy! Would certainly recommend a stay here.

  • An excellent flat for a weekend getaway! Convenient for Glyndebourne and days out in Brighton and Alanagh is a great host!

    Lucy2017-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • I booked the flat for my cousin and his family visiting from New York. Alanagh was a really great host, communicated well and was very accommodating and welcoming. The flat is small but clean and well appointed, and Alanagh provided a very generously stocked fridge along with copious stuff for breakfasts. There's a lovely garden out the back. Its all in a quiet area, but within 10-15 minutes walk of the town centre. If you need a base for exploring Lewes and the area, then I can recommend this place strongly.

    Matthew2015-08-09T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic little place in a fab location. The area is a very quiet, upscale area. As you walk out the front of the house towards Lewes, you are greeted with a peaceful South Downs vista. The town itself is approximately a ten minute walk away. Due to the nature of my stay I was only able to spend a short time in Lewes, however it retains it's historic market town architecture and charm. Alanagh is a pleasant, friendly and accommodating host. The flat is basic but equipped well, with bedroom and shower room separate from the living area (a personal big plus for me!) Due to weather I wasn't able to check out the garden, however it looked as though it would be brilliant in good weather to sit back, relax and forget the hustle bustle. All in all, a fab space for a short stay :)

Light and comfortable home in the beautiful town of Lewes, within the South Downs National Park. A sixties detached home in a quiet cul-de-sac, we have four bedrooms and can easily sleep seven. Enjoy a large family friendly kitchen with doors opening into the garden with trampoline. Lewes has nice walks, parks, an outdoor swimming pool in the summer and lots of lovely pubs.
This is our family home, which we will prepare so you feel comfortable and welcome. As well as the beds, we have two travel cots and there is space to put one up in any of the bedrooms. It is worth noting that our house is a detached chalet bungalow with only one double bedroom upstairs, so it is suitable for guests who are unable to climb stairs.
We live in a quiet cul-de-sac, one minute from a playground with a handy corner shop over the road (which has fresh bread deliveries and fresh Indian meals on a Friday night) and the nearest pub is a five minute walk. By following a country track at the end of our road you can be cycling, walking or running on the South Downs within 10 minutes. You will find an up to date selection of relevant leaflets at the house, telling you about what’s on and where. Lewes is a beautiful medieval town with lots to see including the castle built 1069, the priory ruins, Anne of Cleve’s House, and a great range of independent shops, pubs and restaurants, as well as the famous Harvey’s Brewery. In the summer enjoy Pells Pool; built in 1860 it is the oldest freshwater outdoor public swimming bath in the UK. We are only a 20 minute drive from the beautiful Sussex coastline, and can choose from wilder more remote beaches to the main beach at Brighton with pier and attractions.
  • What a lovely home. Someone has a real eye for design and it makes the house a pleasure to stay in. Good spacious rooms with decent linen. Lewes is stunning. Definitely be back if they'll have us.

  • Lovely house! With everything we needed for our family of 5 to stay. Absolutely recommended.

  • We spent a lovely weekend staying in Sally's home fro the South Downs Poetry Festival. The house is well equipped and spotlessly, immaculately clean. We were a large group of adult poets and even those of us sleeping in camp or cabin beds had a great night's sleep. It was like staying in a nice hotel. For those travelling without a car: the house was a bit of a walk from the centre of town (about 20 minutes) but perfectly manageable even with some luggage. There's a handy corner shop right opposite the house, so no need to lug groceries back from the main town. Coming from London this was a lovely, peaceful place to stay in comfort. Both Sally and Angela, who left us the keys, were very helpful and accommodating when we messed around a bit with number of guests and arrival times etc. Wholeheartedly recommend.

  • Very convenient for Lewes, you can walk into town easily (up a hill), and the house has everything you need.

  • Lovely chalet bugalow (I think that's he best description for it). Has everything you need and then some. Corner shop literally across the road for anything you may have forgotten, reasonably priced. Friendly shop staff. 15 minute walk to Lewes train station, 4 stops to Brighton. Loved the shower, waterfall type and plenty of room. Would use again if going that way. Great communication from the owner.

  • Thanks Sally !!! we have a superb staying. The house was just as described in the listing and the photos were very accurate. We were 7of us and the house is spacious, with a well equipped kitchen and very comfortable (good beds and bedding, lots of towels etc). It was very clean and nicely made up for us when we arrived. The bedrooms and the living rooms are all of a very good size. Bathrooms were spotless. Great house, great area - all strongly recommended by us!

  • A lovely house, well positioned to get into Lewes very easily. Everything we needed for a comfortable stay was there. Lots of lovely things to do in the surrounding area - Charleston, Monks House, and De La Warr to mention a few. Lovely stay.

A lovely two bedroom home situated in Woodingdean, right by the South Downs. Our garden just extends into the National Park so our place is ideal for those who enjoy walks in nature. We have a fireplace to warm up when you get back in.
Our little house has everything you need. The garden is beautiful and you can sit outside on a sunny day. We also have a cozy fireplace, with plenty of logs outside for you to use. Our bedrooms have wooden floors, the main bedroom has a view of open skies and a green field. The bathroom has a bath and a rainfall style shower. The kitchen is very well equipped with a great (new) cooker two ovens, a dishwasher, washing machine, etc. There is a trampoline at the back for your children (and you) to play on, right by the gate to the Downs. Our home is ideal for a couple with a child a one of the bedrooms has a single bed (normal length but child's size). The main bedroom has a very comfortable double mattress and a lovely view. It is very light with windows front and back. In fact there are no curtains on the front windows, just a privacy glass screen. There is also a comfortable 'click-clack' style double sofa bed in the lounge. We recommend that for occasional visitors or one other person ( or one plus child), as it is a small double. It is quiet, peaceful and dark at night, which means you can see the stars on a clear night.. You will have your own private access to the South Downs through our back garden so no need to drive anywhere! You will have the house to yourself but a friend will be at hand in case you need anything. This area is a fantastic location because it is in Brighton but you will feel you are in the countryside. It is 10 minute drive from Brighton centre in one direction, to the sea (Rottingdean beach) in another and to the Woods (Stanmer Park) in the other! It is also very convenient for Falmer and Sussex University and Lewes. Our house is exceptionally located if you enjoy walks or hikes. You can walk out of our back garden for miles if you want. Public transport is very convenient. Bus 22 from a stop just across the road will take you to the centre of town every 15- 20 minutes and back until late. The journey takes about 20 minutes. Bus number 2 from 3 blocks down the road (a 5 minute walk), will take you to the wonderful village of Rottingdean, and its beach (the best in Brighton). There are great pubs in Rottingdean as well as one of the best Thai Restaurants in town and of course, fish and chips! This journey takes about 10 minutes. If you have a car, these distances are halved and we have free parking right outside our house. We don't own a car and manage perfectly well every day. We have no TV but there is fast wifi in the house. You will have your own private access to the South Downs through our back garden so no need to drive anywhere! • Staying at Johanna's home in Brighton was a perfect way to spend New Years Eve. It is located within a ten minute drive to the coast and downtown Brighton. It is a great place to stay if you like a little bit of nature, as there is a beautiful hill out back we climbed up and hiked around, being able to see views of the ocean and additional countryside. Johanna was always available and was a great at preparing everything for our arrival. The home itself was cozy, artsy, and relaxing. I highly recommend her as a host and her home as a great way to see Brighton!

This is an oversized double height bedroom with a super king size bed. It's bright and sunny (with black-out blinds) with rooftop views out to the English Channel. 55" TV with Sky Q and Movies. We are on the edge of Brighton and in the heart of the South Downs.
This is a quiet residential area, in the heart of the South Downs National Park for trails all across this part of Sussex. Five mins drive into Brighton, less to Sussex University. Five minutes drive from the historic village of Rottingdean. Two frequent bus lines give a ten minute trip into Brighton. We are well located for Sussex University at Falmer and the American Express Community stadium - its a five minute drive or about 30 minutes walk. (Likely longer on the way back due to it being uphill!) We have parking, and garage for bike storage etc.
We love being able to get into the centre of Brighton easily, but being somewhere so quiet and spacious surrounded by the beautiful South Downs National Park. The views on the way are breathtaking!
  • Great location between Brighton and Lewes. Room was really nice and just as described. Rich and Nash were perfect hosts. Definitely recommended.

  • Richard made us feel so welcome and at home, that our son was jumping on his sofa and eating him out of sweets within minutes! The whole house was furnished beautifully, was extremely comfortable (bed was heaven) and had top of the range technology - tv, lighting etc. Can't recommend highly enough; we will be back!

  • This was the easiest stay, nicest place and best night's sleep I've ever had in Brighton! The house is beautiful, Richard and Nash went out of their way to be welcoming and helpful, and although it's not in central Brighton, it's so well connected. The view is gorgeous as well - perfect!

  • It's a really good house !! The room is big and also comfy. My friend said it is so clean and you can smell the freshness haha. Although we didn't see Richard, Nash is so nice and prepared us everything. I'll definitely go next time if I have chance and strongly recommend! :)

  • This is a beautifully appointed bed and breakfast with a great bed, a wonderful bathroom and a delicious breakfast to start the day. Moya is a warm, welcoming hostess. We would recommend this to everyone.

  • Really enjoyed my stay here! The room was attractive and comfortable with a huge modern bathroom, roll top bath and excellent walk in shower - perfect after a day’s walking. The breakfast was perfectly cooked and there were interesting alternatives to choose from. Love Lewes and the surrounding area – plenty to do and explore. Will be back!

  • Ab ideal spot for either exploring the delights of Lewes whilst close to other recreational activities. My sister and I had a weekend at Brooklands whilst we roamed around Lewes one day and went hang gliding the next. Aside from the house's 'modern chic' and super clean interiors, Moya's hospitality was second to none with a breakfast you want to get up early for. We'll be back!

    Anita2017-08-14T00:00:00Z
  • The room is bright and airy and the bathroom is huge with a lovely walk in shower. The host is very helpful and the breakfast was extremely tasty. It is a central location for Lewes and the parking was very handy. I would thoroughly recommend.

  • Wonderful stay. Newly renovated to luxury standards, immaculate, spectacular breakfast, and includes private parking (which is rare in Lewes). I'm still in shock that my husband commented on the wonderful sheets. That's a first in 36 years!

Our house and garden room are an easy walk downhill through Lewes, and there is an excellent limited stop bus service to Brighton from the top of our footpath. There are very good pubs and restaurants nearby. Lewes Castle and Ann of Cleves house are close with family-friendly activities. My place is good for couples .
The studio is well insulated and has good heating and overlooks our completely fenced garden.
  • We greatly enjoyed our stay. Although unfortunately Susan was away, Dennis could not have been a more helpful & welcoming host (despite a poorly knee!). The accommodation is lovely, with everything you need to either be self- sufficient, or sustain your self between breakfasts & coffees with Susan and Dennis! It's location is great for access into Lewes, with a bus service just outside also providing transport into Brighton. All in all a great stay. Thanks once again for having us!

  • Warm and cosy cabin with everything you need, amazing hosts - it doesn't get any better. We loved staying here.

  • This was our first foray into the world of Airbnb and it couldn't have been a better introduction. The garden studio is more impressive than the photographs show and is very well equipped. Susan and Dennis are delightful hosts, nothing was too much trouble and they made us feel very welcome. Their breakfasts are feasts full of home-made delights.

    Jenny2017-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely chalet in the garden with powerful shower, comfy bed and Downs view. Breakfast was first class with cereals, home baked bread and muffins and 'Full English' too! Sue and Dennis were very welcoming and thoughtful in providing games and books for our four year old grand-daughter. Parking space was also appreciated as these can be rare in Lewes!

    Anne2017-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I enjoyed a lovely weekend in Lewes using Susan's place as our base. Susan and her husband were wonderful hosts, gave us great recommendations on what to see and do/how to get about and even cooked us breakfast. The garden studio is a really lovely space to stay in, very comfortable and well equipped, we felt very at home. Walking distance to everything. Highly recommend.

  • This place is heavenly - so beautifully sorted with every detail a delightf from the decor to the fresh flowers and amazing home baked muffins and bread for breakfast. The bed was comfy, the location is good and Susan and Dennis are great hosts

    Nancy2017-07-31T00:00:00Z
  • Susan is a lovely host - she really couldn't do enough for us. She greeted us and showed us round the studio, making sure we knew where everything was. We were going to a party and arriving back after dark so she made sure that the lights were on for us and also reassured me that my (late) request for a veggie breakfast wasn't a problem. Speaking of which, we passed a very pleasant hour in conversation the next morning with Susan and Dennis whilst eating a splendid, freshly cooked breakfast. Shame to leave really!

The Carriage was featured on 'George Clarkes Amazing Spaces' series 6, episode 3, where it was restored to its former glory with the addition of a bathroom and kitchen. It was glowingly described by Will Hardy as 'having so much charm, you really feel like your in the Victorian period' It's such a unique experience; you'll really enjoy your journey!
Totally restored and open plan space with original railway carriage fixtures and fittings from the period, an amazingly comfortable Edwardian bed, lovely mahogany carriage doors which open up to a private garden space with gas barbecue. Kitchen with sink, microwave, kettle and toaster for simple meals. Own private parking is next to your garden. Easy access by car and bus to Brighton and all that Sussex by the sea has to offer.
We have some very wonderful scenery here, being within the South Downs national park, and near the sea. The walks on the downs nearby are breathtaking, and we are so conveniently close to Brighton and Lewes, as well as Rottingdean beach.
  • I vaguely remember seeing the transformation on Amazing Spaces - Michelle and Mark have done an amazing job restoring it (super nice people too!). It's got everything you need for a short stay, including a small fridge, kitchen bits and shower stuff. It's a small space and there's a gap in the toilet door so it's very much a place for couples that know each other well! There's a bus stop just at the end of the road to take you into the centre of Brighton (amazing place, great restaurants/bars!) which runs fairly late, otherwise we paid just over £10 to get a metered taxi back at night. There's also 4 hours of free parking at the Marina if you want to park and walk into Brighton. I would've loved to give this place 5 stars because it is so cosy and lovely but we didn't sleep well on the bed. It's an old-fashioned authentic bed with an iron bar at the bottom and lacked any support in the middle/felt a bit cramped. If this was improved we'd stay again.

    Suzy2017-06-19T00:00:00Z
  • Quirky cute for short break Lovely hosts

    Zoey2017-05-23T00:00:00Z
  • This place is fabulous!! We had watched the Amazing Spaces programme this was featured on so when we discovered we could now stay in it we didn't hesitate. The carriage is really lovely and has everything you need in it. The bathroom has also had a shower cubicle installed in it now, so it looks even better. There is a microwave inside, but also barbecue outside you can cook on with main grill and one hob ring. We cooked all but one meal on it while we were there and I had great fun working out how to cook a full English on it! It's very peaceful there, although you are only a short walk from shops, takeaways and a pub if you don't want to cook. There is a bus stop at the end of the road which takes you into Brighton and beyond; once we'd arrived we parked the car and left it there as the buses are so convenient. Michelle and Mark are fantastic hosts, making sure everything was ok and very easy to talk to. This is definitely one of the best places we've stayed and we'd definitely stay again. It's definitely a unique place to stay and we loved it!

  • Quirky and charming place to stay just outside of Brighton.Host was really helpful warm and welcoming and clearly has gone to some trouble to make the stay there as comfortable as possible for guests. Would happily recommend and happily return

Lewes is the beautiful historic county town of East Sussex nestled in the stunning South Downs. We are within close walking distance to local pubs with good food and pub gardens. There are also many good restaurants within walking distance. Located in a quiet residential area we are just a short walk from the town centre. Lewes is a popular tourist destination and dates back to before the Domesday Book. The narrow alleyways called ‘twittens’ are said to be Saxon and appear unchanged by the centuries, making the town a fun place to explore. Nestling on a spur beside the River Ouse as it meanders through the South Downs to Newhaven, Lewes has been a busy port for many centuries and is home to the famous Harvey’s Brewery. It has a rich history with a good number of listed buildings. For shoppers, Lewes offers an impressive range of speciality shops, galleries and antique emporia, with a good selection of restaurants, cafes and pubs. Lewes has a busy year-round calendar of artistic, musical and theatrical events. Summer highlights include swimming in Pells Pool, the UK’s oldest fresh-water lido, walking in the beautiful Downs and trips to local beaches a short drive or train ride away.
  • A beautiful and well equipped family home with a lovely garden, the kids loved the trampoline and tree house, there is also a playground very near the house. Lewes is a very pretty town with lots of lovely cafes and shops and it is possible to walk into the centre from the house, also a very short taxi ride home from Lewes station.

  • Ohana was an excellent airbnb host. Communication was excellent, house manual was fantastic, the house is beautifully appointed and decorated with a wonderful garden which our young children thoroughly enjoyed. Accommodation is well suited to a large party with plenty of space, bathrooms and crockery & cutlery - sometimes lacking in a holiday let - but this is much than a holiday let - for us it was a home from home. The location is excellent - close to town and all the wealth of surrounding activities/sites.

    Richard2015-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • This was a perfect location for our family gathering in Lewes. The shops and restaurants can be reached in a few minutes walk and the neighbourhood is quiet and residential. The house and garden offer plenty of space, the kitchen is well equipped and it is very convenient in the morning to have two bathrooms plus a cloakroom. It really felt like home... we didn't want to leave!

  • Thank you for a wonderful stay. The house is beautiful, light and airy and done in very good taste and the children especially loved the garden. Would recommend without hesitation to any families, the house had everything we needed.

  • Ohana's home and the city of Lewes are both very special places. We were welcomed warmly by her mother and made feel at home straight away. Winterbourne House is located a secluded cul-de-sac with a beautiful garden that was absolute heaven for our four year old. Endless hours of built in babysitting were provided by a ground level trampoline and treehouse. We enjoyed numerous meals outdoors in the patio and the BBQ worked well for our party of 8. The interior was equally beautiful, tastefully decorated with lots of precious details that displayed a creative and happy family. We were within walking distance of many historic Lewes locations ( my favourite being Southover Grange Gardens). A great experience overall.

  • Wonderful house, wonderful hostess, great location, full of character but with everything you need at hand (or Ohana nearby). I hope we will be back for more!

  • A lovely large family home with everything you could possibly need for a comfortable stay. A great location for exploring Brighton and the south coast and Lewes is a lovely town with some great pubs and restaurants. The garden is an extra bonus with nice outside space for kids to play and dine alfresco.

Come and share our comfortable family home. We live in a small Edwardian terrace house in the heart of Southover, one of the most historic and picturesque parts of Lewes. It's 10 minutes from the mainline railway station and an ideal base for Glyndebourne opera or for exploring the Downs.
We are offering a small, clean, homely upstairs study/bedroom that accommodates one guest. You will sleep on a top-of- the-range single sofa bed, which is custom made to a German design. There is a table, chair and hangers for clothes. There is a small upstairs bathroom with a bath, shower and toilet which you will share with our family.
Our house is situated on a neighbourly street with residential parking and a local shop opposite. It's a short 10 minute walk to Lewes railway station. It's in the heart of some of Lewes's most famous historic tourist attractions. Around the corner is the famous Anne of Cleves Museum, a 15th century Tudor timber framed house that was part of King Henry VIII divorce settlement to his fourth wife. Opposite the museum is the Lewes Priory, a ruined medieval priory, which had one of the largest monastic churches in England before it was destroyed by Henry VIII. Many of the houses nearby are picturesque and historic, and feature the traditional flint walls of the region, including our own.
  • I had to cancel my plans to stay overnight in Lewes at the last moment, so I only exchanged some emails with Robin. The communication was great, and she was very helpful in answering my questions and providing information about local attractions. The house is in a quiet street, only few minutes away from the station, and even closer to one of the main attractions of Lewes, Anne of Cleves House. If I need to stay in Lewes in the future, I'll definitely get in touch with Robin again.

  • Really welcoming host, brill location and cosy room. Good value, Would recommend.

  • Wasn't there long but great place for a night-stop; clean, comfortable, quiet and welcoming hosts.

    Rob2017-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • I had a great stay at Robin's flat after a long day spent walking the South Downs. Robin and her family were warm and welcoming; the bed was comfortable and I had a great night's sleep; and the flat is located within easy walking distance of the town centre and pubs with good food. I would highly recommend this room to anyone looking for a place to stay in Lewes.

  • Typical Gary flying visit but just the ticket for me Booking very easy Great location but without sat nav may prove troublesome for some to find Parking was simple enough but there is a myriad of parking restrictions until 6pm which again some may find challenging but didn't affect me with my flying visit - the host will guide you though if necessary Had a couple of nice chats with Robin who went on to recommend a lovely pub which I ended up staying in longer than I should - walking distance too The room was very comfortable, quiet and I slept very well The shower across the hall was great too Had to leave way before breakfast though but granola and fruit was available but only needed a kettle Not much else to add but felt very much at home Thank you

  • Robin was a very good host, welcoming and friendly. She was helpful with useful advice and pleasant and interesting to talk with. The room was fine and perfectly adequate for my needs. The house is situated in a very quiet neighbourhood in the South of the town and is very conveniently placed for the train station being an easy 7-10 minute walk away and then a short 15minute journey into brighton. In my opinion a much better option than staying in brighton

  • Great, comfortable place to lay my head for the night. Robin was a great host for my short stay. Went to the Pelham Arms (a 5 min walk away), which I could recommend for a nice dinner too.

An oasis of a house An historic town with modern sparkyness. On the doorstep: Train Station(London and Brighton in easy reach), Swan Inn, Anne of Cleeves' House, Lewes Castle, Sweet local shopping and birthplace of Bill's restaurant, Stunning Country walks, A dash away - Brighton 20mins & London 1hr 30mins
We have a lovely 19 foot foot living room with a fantastic conservatory dining area. There's 2 bathrooms, one ensuite with double bedroom downstairs so if you have a less able member of your group it's all set for them. While upstairs we have two double and a single bedroom. It's a fantastic friendy street with families and the best pub The Swan Inn which is well known for it's fantastic range of foods from super meaty to interesting veggie and vegan options. We have two happy cats who are very independent and friendly.
We live in an area called Winterbourne which is opposite a lovely park with kids play area and a short walk to the downs and lots of gourgous country walks with picturesque winmills and lots of great country pubs dotted through the routes. We're still discovering new walks all the time. We have also just had a fantastic new independent cinema open up next to the staion which is a lovely place just to have a drink and dinner in even if you don't fancy a movie.
  • Relaxed house with good sized living area. Projector rather than a TV so being a laptop or similar. Freezer is in the garage. Lots of toys around eg brio train set, cars and cuddly animals plus children's books. The two cats are child - friendly and absolutely no trouble - put dried food and water out once a day. The house is near the end of a close and is safe for kids. Lewes is walkable distance with castle and lots of pubs. The Swan is good and has nice garden.

  • Didn't meet Alice, but her husband, Duncan, made me feel very welcome. The room was clean, warm and cosy and very nice to have the en-suite shower room. Excellent value for money and would definitely stay again.

    Susie2016-04-03T00:00:00Z
  • Alice was easy to communicate with and it was easy to arrange my stay. She wasn't there during my stay, but a neighbour was around to help out and brought me some fresh milk for breakfast. If you are noise sensitive (as I am) I would recommend bringing ear plugs with you as I could hear the fridge in the kitchen without my earplugs - with the earplugs I was fine. Great value stay and I recommend it.

    Benedict2016-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely room with a great ensuite, shower, comfy beds, clean, very good location as it is only a short walk to Anne of Cleve's house, good internet. The hosts, Duncan and Alice were very accommodating with regards to check in and are lovely folk. Definitely a great value spot!

    Jenna2016-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • I was felt very welcomed by Alice who went out of way to get me my preferred breakfast items. The room was pleasant, warm and clean and I was able to use the main living room to eat.

    Fab four bed family home

We are a small cottage in Falmer which is walking distance to both University of Sussex and Brighton, The Amex Community Stadium and the South Downs Way. It is quiet and hidden away but with buses and trains every five minutes into Brighton and Lewes. There are three of us: Tim, Helen and Harry who will all be around to help you with your stay.
We have a double bedroom in an L-shape. The bed sits in the main area and there is an area for you to sit down next to the bookshelf, large wardrobe and drinks area toward the window facing the garden. We provide tea, coffee and water; a book swap shelf and a wine selection should you want any during your stay.
Further down our road is a pub, The Swan, and the other side of the A27 dual carriageway is Falmer church, pond, village hall and farm shop. In Brighton, we recommend visiting the Lanes where you can find a variety of cafes, bars and independent restaurants (Franco Manca is a new one of our favourite pizza places). Ask us what you might be looking for - there is too much in Brighton to write down here!
  • Tim welcomed me on arrival and kindly helped me with my bags. The house has a lovely warm and welcoming feeling and the room was as shown/described. There was ample room to hang my clothes and leave my bags. Tim, Helen and Harry were really welcoming and made me feel comfortable and at ease. I will be definitely be revisiting and would highly recommend this home to other Airbnb users.

    Tracy2016-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • I had a wonderful experience at Tim's place. The location was ideal in that I got to spend time in the lovely English countryside, yet it was just a short bus ride to eccentric Brighton. Tim and his family were very welcoming and informative. I felt comfortable immediately. I would absolutely stay here again!

    Morgan2016-12-17T00:00:00Z
  • Tim and Helen place is a typical English house embedded in a natural landscape, surrounded by woods and paths you should try walk or bike. It takes less than 5 minutes walking for being in Sussex campus. Train takes 15 minutes and there is a bus to the center. They offer a normal size room, quite independent from the rest of the rooms. Tim and Helen are quite friendly, clean and quiet. Easy and confortable. I recommend it.

    Enrique2016-10-31T00:00:00Z
  • Tim was an absolutely wonderful host and made us feel really welcome. He even drove us into a Lewes to catch the Bonfire celebrations, which was beyond the call of duty! For the price, location and charming family environment, I couldn't recommend this accommodation more.

    Oliver2016-11-06T00:00:00Z
  • Tim and his family welcomed me in a great way and I really love stay there. The view is fantastic, I suggest to rent a bike and go around there. If you go for University related trips the room is walking distance both from Falmer station and from University buildings. At night the street around the university might be dark but the security staff of the university always goes around the campus at night. Concerning the room, it was a great experience spending my days in Tim's house. The room is cozy and the atmosphere is very nice. Tim, Helen and Harry were always ready to help me out.

    Daniela2016-09-10T00:00:00Z
  • They were very caring and helpful online, even though I was on a business trip and didn't get enough time to chat with everyone. Loved the extra care with the morning fresh bread.

  • Very nice and pleasent place to stay, Tim and his family are great hosts too. Great place !
