Just booked in Kirkpatrick Durham

A 400 year old 'A' listed historic mill in a magical location. Set in 14 acres of rivers, waterfalls, ancient woodland with abundant wildlife, all under the famous Galloway night skies. Fabulous, hiking biking and watersports are on your doorstep.
Ironmacannie mill has serviced the local population for over 400 years as a grain mill until it was converted into a dwelling house in 1990. It sleeps a maximum 10 people.; 3 bedrooms and a couple of fold down beds. It is decorated very simply with real materials and a rustic palate. It has 2 bathrooms and an extra loo. The machinery room holds much of the original machinery of the mill, which can still turn when the water is diverted to the wheel. The ancient kiln room door at the back takes you directly into the river. If you are only wishing to book two nights please read the 'other things to note ' section at the end of the description.
The hidden road is a special place, it has abundant wildlife, magical bent and twisted oaks and winding waterways. The local area has many sporting and touristic activities, but we most like the diverse subculture. You don't have to look far to find a unusual happening, alternative thinkers musicians and artists lurk around every corner. Watch out! We are proud to announce, that resident Freya Morton will be offering circus skills workshops: trapeze and acrobalance from April onwards. If you want to treat your self, Freya is also qualified to give therapy & sports massage.
  • We had the nicest time during our stay at the mill! We enjoyed the woodland sauna and dipping in the creek and walks in the surrounding area. The kitchen was well stocked and bed spaces comfortable with plenty of room in the house for a large group.

  • So much more amazing than the pictures could ever capture! This wonderful home is spacious and beautiful and more than we could've ever hoped for. Our family of 7+2 babies stayed for three nights and never ran out of things to do. The countryside walks, fire place in the basement for music, family meals in the dining room, sitting outside enjoying the beautiful scenery and so much more. We can't thank Lorraine enough for sharing their beautiful home... Thank you so, so much and we would highly recommend this home to anyone looking for a wonderful home and magical experience!

  • Was met by Lorraine and her husband when we arrived, they live in the cottage next door. Lorraine was great at answering any of our questions prior to arrival. Spent a lovely girls weekend here at the mill. The mill is bigger than I had thought meaning the ten of us had plenty of space to lounge around. Enjoyed a nice walk around the village one afternoon. Went out one night for dinner at The Clachan Inn in Dalry - it's a good six miles away from the mill so required someone to chauffeur as taxis were difficult to come by.

  • A group of 10 of us spent New Year here and had a great time. Lovely cottage and great countryside; brilliant sky at night. Hosts were friendly, helpful and always fast to respond to any questions. Would happily stay here again.

  • The Mill is in such a beautiful spot. My friends and I had a relaxing stay in this large and well-furnished house. There are scenic walks locally and it's easy to drive to hills and lochs for exploring. We loved using the sauna on a frosty night!

  • Location and property were fantastic

  • Our group of 7 friends had a wonderful weekend escaping the city at Lorraine's beautiful mill. It was a beautiful location and the house was clean and well equipped. There were lovely local walks and we had a great time playing board games by the fire. Lorraine was a perfect and considerate host.

    Alex2017-10-16T00:00:00Z
  • Everything was great! The place is so peaceful and beautiful and the house itself is very cosy and comfortable. We spent so nice time here and Lorraine and Uula were helpful and hospitable. We'll definitely remember this place!

  • Tom and Ann were extremely friendly, helpful and welcoming. We stayed 2 nights to mountain bike at Kirroughtree and Mabie Forest and the accommodation proved ideal for our purposes. It is very well appointed and is very clean and warm. There are also lots of thoughtful touches such as spare toothpaste in case you've forgotten to bring some, and a good supply of teas, ground coffee, jam etc. It faces south so it gets a lot of sun and is very light with a private patio overlooking the fields. There is also bike storage which was very handy. I highly recommend this accommodation ---- excellent!.

  • We had a lovely two day stay. The cottage was beautifully clean and fully fitted with a kitchen, sitting room, bathroom and bedroom. My son was lent a slide to play with and we were even left some shortbread. The views out the back were lovely. Will be back if in the area.

    Louise2015-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • Tom and Ann are great hosts and made me feel very welcome. The garden cottage is comfortable and very convenient to explore the region. It is quiet and the views from the lounge, with the double doors, are amazing. Highly recommend it!

  • Ann and Tom are just great. We were very late with our booking and it was not a problem for them. You live in a little house just next to their house. It is beautiful there. You have a kitchen with enough space, a bathroom and a bedroom with a big and comfortable bed. Everything is very clean and lovely decorated. And the view there is just amazing. The neighbourhood is very nice and it is calm. They both put so much effort in it and you really see it the minute you arrive. It was great to meet these to and we really enjoyed their company. Thank you so much!!!

There are lovely country walks right from your doorstep, and you're only miles from beautiful coastal and many other attractions. We can't wait to return; thank you, Ann and Tom!

Craigadam house is situated on an organic sheep farm with wonderful views across Galloway.Large luxurious bedrooms all ensuite. All double rooms are superking beds. Scottish breakfast.with local produce. Dinner in the evening is home cooked.
Craigadam is our family home and we hope you enjoy being with us as much as we love living here. In the morning you awake to the sounds of birds singing and the sheep in the fields. A little piece of heaven. There are 7 bedrooms all ensuite and a 3 bedroomed cottage. Craigadam is a lovely destination for a family gathering where you have the exclusive use of the property. We have a small hill loch stoked with trout
A beautiful quiet part of Scotland. Wonderful walking, beaches, mountain biking (www. 7 Stanes ) and golf courses, over 20! A variety of gardens to visit both private and National Trust. pony trekking.
  • Great location, centrally located near shops, restaurants, and pubs. Very clean flat with comfortable bed. Good WiFi and kitchen amenities. On the 3rd floor (top), so be prepared to climb stairs. Building was quiet, but we welcomed the city noise from outside.

  • Celia and Richard were so welcoming, staying with them was like being home from home and I truly was invited to make myself comfortable. My room was beautiful, with a 6ft double bed and a corner bath, I felt like royalty! There was plenty of space, I could have had 3 more people in it with room to spare. The rooms face into a central courtyard with a strategically placed water feature so that the rooms remain private. They have an honesty bar so that you can help yourself to drinks and pay for them on departure, which I loved and was able to sit in the sun reading with a gin and tonic. Celia asked me if I would like to eat in, and being on my own this suited me as I hate eating alone and the dining room has a table big enough for 20 or so, which everyone sits at together. The food was delicious, home smoked salmon, wild venison and a sumptuous pudding! I was given directions for a lovely walk with my dog after dinner, so I got to see more of the farm, particularly sheep and highland cows. Breakfast was pure luxury, things you would never treat yourself to at home, cereals, fruit compotes, juices and then cooked too if you wanted. I met some lovely people at dinner, and the whole experience is one I would gladly repeat. Thank you for a wonderful stay, I hope to return soon.

He had left a bottle of wine and some biscuits which was a lovely touch. Additionally he knew we were bringing our toddler so had kindly dug out some toys for him to play with which he loved! • Had a fantastic week, the house is excellent. It's been decorated to a high standard, the setting is perfect for getting away from it all. The kids loved walking around the fields, feeding the horses and table tennis. Both Sheena and Oscar were very welcoming and on call if we needed anything. We were surprised at how much there was to do in the area and had 6 full days out with our 4 kids. This gave a nice balance of activities in the day and relaxing at the house before and after. • With my wife's father being from CD we have been regular visitors to the town all our lives and since having children of our own we have struggled to find a holiday home central in the town to enjoy short breaks. Our struggle is finally over thanks to this simply stunning house! The location cannot be beaten as it is so central to all the shops, pubs and restaurants. The quality of the furnishings and finishes throughout the house is very high-end and the décor and attention to detail outstanding. This house is a real gem and we cannot wait to spend many more holidays in it. Gill and her mother were superb and welcoming hosts and communication from booking to departure was excellent.

  • This house is utter luxury, finished to the highest standards, right in the centre of Castle Douglas and kitted out with all the local info you could need. Could easily sleep 6 adults, and there is a crib if needed. Beautiful private garden also. Gill and her mother Ann were extremely accommodating, particularly when our arrival was delayed. We wish we’d had more time to enjoy the house, garden, and local area! Will definitely return in the future, highly recommended!

  • The flat was perfect, it was clean and really nicely done. we parked outside the door without any problems. We were late due to traffic and Gillian was the perfect host coming out to let us in and show us round. We will be back and would highly recommend it to anyone. Castle Douglas is a lovely place to walk around it has some really nice shops and good places to eat. the cafe under the flat is fantastic, excellent chocolate and coffee with friendly staff.

  • We had a good time in Castle Douglas and The Fox Flat was a significant part of that. Pros: The flat is very well located, on the busy main street of CD, nicely designed and pretty well arranged for hosting guests. 2 of the 3 bedrooms are pretty small, but well arranged and equipped. The third bedroom is actually a family room and offers minimal privacy, as it is openly connected to the kitchen. The flat is beautifully designed, with an apparent fetish for fox and some functionality glitches such as the over-crowded living room. The flat has a beautiful, well groomed, harden with a nice seating deck. Great for sunny days!!! Cons: Second floor location with a very steep staircase. We did not notice any indication to that fact upon booking and had this as the biggest obstacle of our stay, as we had two partially disabled, senior citizens with us. We have experienced quite a few technical malfunctions over our stay. Burnt lightbulbs, stuck doors and the absence of a spare key, caused a certain amount of hassle and dismay. Although the owner was very responsive and actively tried to help, I do recommend demanding that she inspects the place before you arrive and that you make sure to get a proper compensation for such glitches, should they occur. Please note that you will have to make your own beds and strip them from beddings upon leaving. It's ok, but jas to be taken into consideration if you have any physical disability or arrive very tiered. All in all-the Fox flat is a nice place, but not for everyone.

  • Beautiful flat with tonnes of space. We had an 8 month old baby who slept in the second bedroom. Lounge/Dining room was very comfortable with a log fire. Kitchen had a second lounge room joined to it with a sofa and TV and all the utensils/cooking equipment needed. Wifi was speedy. Garden was a massive bonus and had a great decking area where we sat and had wine and dinner in the sun. Garden well kept with luscious grass. Lots of food places on the doorstep and cafes, shops etc. Supermarkets 1 min walk. Definitely will be coming back here as our base now our parents have moved to Scotland. Amazing value for what you get and location to expore the stunning wilderness around. Book it!

    Jake2016-08-10T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely comfortable spacious flat in good location for local shops cafes etc. We were in the area for a wedding so didn't get to spend as much time in fox flat as we'd have liked but would definitely stay again if visiting the area.

    Jemma 2017-07-02T00:00:00Z
  • I've just checked out of the fox flat after 3 nights stay for my brothers wedding. It's such a beautiful flat with everything you could wish for. I went up with my children and they didn't go bored when we was at the flat with the selection of board games, play station 2, dvds and books to choose from. I wish the weather was nice as I didn't have chance to go in the garden. The garden is beautiful with fairy lights wrapped around the deck you could definitely just relax. We had a little trouble working the shower the first night but soon realised how to work the heating for it and the log fire, what more could I say it's beautiful. We will be definitely coming again.

Part of a period farmhouse we have a newly appointed apartment available for holidays in our lovely area of Dumfries and Galloway. Dumfries and Galloway is a part of Southern Scotland often overlooked by those heading North to the Highlands. It retains it's slow old fashioned unchanged character and is a hub for arts and crafts aswell as having many wonderful beaches and excellent pubs and restaurants.
  • This is in a very beautiful part of the world. It's peaceful and all you can hear are cows in the field, the chickens and the occasional cockerel. Martin gave us a warm welcome, showed us round and then left us to it. Because it's so different to our usual suburban living, it felt like we'd been away for a few days rather than just a quick overnight break.

    Catherine2017-06-04T00:00:00Z
  • I stayed at Martin's with my 5 year old boy, who loved the diggers, country side and hens. Martin welcomed us then left us to it. I really appreciated the fresh coffee and the gift of tomatoes and cucumbers (although I thought they were courgettes at first) :) We had a really enjoyable stay and would definitely stay again.

    Sine2017-08-08T00:00:00Z
  • Martin's place was lovely in a really secluded part of Scotland. WiFi could only be found in the kitchen but that didn't matter for us! It was lovely to be able to use an agar to heat the room and the place had real character. Being able to book instantly was perfect for us as we were travelling south through Scotland and needed somewhere we could book on the day and Martin responded swiftly too. We had a lovely night there.

    Tabitha2017-05-30T00:00:00Z
  • A very friendly host with great, comfortable accommodation. We are just sorry we couldn't stop longer. What a delightful hidden gem! X

    Aysha2017-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • The apartment is very nice. The living area is on the ground floor and the bedroom upstairs. It's very comfortable and quirky. Loved it. Martin and Julie were great hosts. It's very private. You need a car to get there

    Lynda2017-06-19T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay at Martins home. The house was cozy and homey. Martin was lovely company and the landscape was incredible. We wish we could have stayed longer!

    Katie2017-08-16T00:00:00Z
  • Great cosy little place with tonnes of character! Had everything we needed for the weekend and offers both a lovely quiet location, whilst being within easy driving distance of all the local towns and sights. Martin and his family were really great (especially with our very friendly puppy!) and suggested a great pub, which had very tasty food and excellent cask ales. We would definitely go back!

    Lisa2017-07-09T00:00:00Z
  • Martin is a great host. We were warmly welcomed and shown around the farm. The house is lovely and peaceful. Fantastic place if you want to escape from a busy city lifestyle. The house itself is functional and has everything you might need. It's like going back in time which we found very relaxing. There is a beautiful and comfortable bedroom, really quiet so great night sleep is guaranteed. Martin has prepared all, including garden seats and BBQ which was a really nice touch. The farm is located in a beautiful countryside with beautiful views. If you have a car, there are many interesting places to visit close by.

Cosy, comfy, fully equipped two bedroom apartment, five minute walk to town centre and central to all tourist spots. Clean, bright and airy. Own parking and garden. Shed available for storing bicycles.
Would also be a great base for business people looking for a quiet place to stay and which allows flexibility and freedom of movement. Owner lives locally so any issues resolved quickly.
Quiet residential area close to town. Lovely local pubs and restaurants. A superstore in town for groceries. Local bus and taxi service. Closest beach about twenty minute drive. Beautiful walks, hikes, sight seeing, beaches.
  • We have stayed in many places around the country and the world, but this was outstanding. The house had lots of space with the two bedrooms, large living room, kitchen and bathroom. It was spotlessly clean, and quiet, and had a nice view. Jenny went the extra mile by providing treats for us to eat and special treats for our son (as we stayed around Easter). Jenny responded quickly and helpfully to all our questions and we hope to stay again some time. We have already recommended her to our family.

    David2017-04-15T00:00:00Z
  • The equipment, beds and furniture at Jenny's are perfect and she is the most welcoming and kindest person you'll ever meet, it really was like staying with a good friend and we shan't forget our lovely weekend. Castle Douglas is great and there is so much to see and do you're spoilt for choice. The absolute highlight for us was the walk through Bar Hill bluebell woods at Kirkcudbright, carpets of exquisite flowers.... hurry, they won't be there for very long!

    Sue2017-05-08T00:00:00Z
  • We spent 2 nights at Jenny's property this weekend and absolutely loved it ! While we didn't get to meet Jenny this time, her communication and contact with us was brilliant. She is also a very thoughtful host as she had kept cake, chocolates, juice, butter etc for us - which was a very welcome touch. The bathroom was stocked with all toiletries that one could need and the property was spotless clean. The house is quite close to the high street and you could walk to it , so it's quite conveniently located if you are interested in some shopping . It's also very near Threave Castle and Threave Gardens which are fab tourist attractions and historical in importance. Good takeaways nearby to order food from or you can cook at the property as well. The view from the living room is beautiful and bucolic and if you're lucky to get clear evenings you can witness some stunning sunsets . Reserved parking is a big plus and we are earmarking this property to return to in the future !

    Phil2017-06-18T00:00:00Z
  • Jenny's place was very clean and also a perfect base for seeing around the area. There are plenty of takeaways in Castle Douglas if you don't want to cook especially the award winning Moore's chip shop. There are bakeries and butchers and also a very large Tesco's and Wilkos and much, much more with lots of wee shops you won't find on your normal high street. Also, Jenny was a great host and left us a wee grocery pack to get us started and there was lots of clean towels and toiletries available for us to use. We will definately use Jenny's accomodation again.

    Lorraine2017-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • Very handy for Castle Douglas and a good base for Kirkcudbright and other local attractions like the Chocolate Factory and Cream O Galloway

    LORNA2017-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • Had a great stay in the house, very comfortable and in good location. Jenny was great - thanks for having us.

    Layla2017-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • Warm comfortable home with every amenity. Will definitely use again.

    Isla2017-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic host, with lots of little touches - milk, juice and spread in the fridge, cake, colouring books and pencils for the children. Parking space was really useful and a shed to store bikes (or whatever). The views from the lounge and kitchen were picture perfect with great sunsets to admire. Very close to Carlingwark Loch and only a couple of minutes walk to the bottom of King Street. We have family in the area, so would definitely look to stay here again.

The cottage was built in 1901 and has been fully restored. It is the perfect luxury getaway just for two with loch views. Furnished to a high standard with mid century British and Danish furniture and original art. There is an open plan living room and kitchen, and upstairs there is a cosy bedroom and bathroom. The bed is super comfy and has Egyptian cotton linen. There is an interesting selection of books and games and a bluetooth speaker, so you can play music from your device and a CD player.
The property has been lovingly restored by Zoe and has original art from her Art Gallery in nearby Castle Douglas. The open plan space downstairs has a beautiful oak parquet floor. There is an electric stove and individually controlled radiators. The kitchen has everything you need including a washing machine, dishwasher, fridge freezer and NEFF cooker with induction hob. Under the stairs there is plenty of space for coats and shoes, a Dyson vacuum cleaner and an ironing board. There is a TV with FreeSat and a DVD player - Simon has curated a selection of DVDs spanning various genres - there should be something for everyone! All the rooms have been painted using Farrow & Ball paints and there is a striking wall of wallpaper on the stairway.
Parton is on the edge of the Galloway Forest Dark Sky Park - on clear nights it is the perfect place for star gazing. To see the stars through a large telescope book a visit to the Dark Sky Observatory which is about a half an hour drive away. Their astronomer gives regular talks about the night sky but you need to book ahead. The cottage looks on to Loch Ken - if you are interested in water-sports on the loch, five minutes away by car there is the Galloway Activity Centre. They offer kayaking, sailing and other sports such as archery. climbing and a zip wire. Galloway is an unspoiled part of Southern Scotland with beaches, mountains and lochs to explore. The busy market town of Castle Douglas is your nearest town for shopping - 11.5km away (a 12 minute drive). The high street is famous for its wealth of interesting independently owned shops - it is a rare find with very few 'chain stores'. There is an artisan bakery, award winning butchers, gentleman's tailor, art gallery, antiques shop and cafes.

  • We loved our stay, the cottage was everything I would hope for in an Air BnB...immaculately clean, beautifully decorated, well equipped. It was the ideal base for our kayaking weekend on Loch Ken, so much better than the tent we almost opted for! On recommendation in the house manual we went to Polarbites, Kirkcudbright. I recommend the smoked haddock and chips. We hope to return soon.

  • What a lovely place, really nicely decorated, I'm a bit envious of some of the furniture. It was perfect for my boyfriend and I for our getaway weekend, it felt like a real escape. The house is located on a road which isn't too busy but gives you good access to the Galloway forests and local towns such as Castle Douglas. The house itself is well kitted out, everything I needed to make a few meals in the kitchen, useful books about the local area, and a TV and radio if you want to know what's going on in the real world!

Dalbeattie is a small town in South West Scotland close to the coast. There are numerous attractive beaches only a short drive away, including the popular sailing village of Kippford. It is on the edge of Dalbeattie Forest and not far from Mabie Forest, both part of the Seven Stanes and very popular for mountain biking. There is a park across the road, very popular with locals and visitors. Dalbeattie is 14 miles west of Dumfries and 6 miles from Castle Douglas.
Newly refurbished 2 bedroomed traditional granite terraced cottage in small town near to the Solway Coast. Garden to rear with outdoor seating areas on the grass and terrace. Double bedroom on ground floor, twin room upstairs with extra pull out bed if required.
The cottage is situated in a fairly quiet neighbourhood, although is on the main road into Dumfries and can be fairly busy (for a small rural town!) just after 5pm. The park is immediately across from the cottage and is very popular with children and adults. There is a duck pond, putting, tennis courts, play equipment and plenty of space to kick a ball. In the summer there are activities held here. Dalbeattie is on the edge of the town wood which is popular with walkers, orienteering and mountain biking. Kippford, Rockcliffe, Sandyhills, Southerness and other small hamlets along the Solway Coast are a short drive and on a clear day the views across to the Northern Lakes are spectacular.

We were there to do some cycling which we managed 3 days of, doing 2 of the 7 Stanes routes at Dalbeattie and Mabie Forests, we did a nice ride which was suggested in rides around Dalbeattie which we got from Visiors centre in town centre. A visit to Sulworth Brewery in nearby Castle Douglas is a must if you like Real Ale and Laurie Arms pub for Home cooked food and warm welcome. So many beautiful places to visit such as Kippford, I could go on and on.

  • Judith's cottage was a perfect home away from home for our family with two young children (5 years / 18 months). Judith's house was warm, comfortable and had everything we needed to wash and dry clothes. There was an excellent set of information about things to see and do in the local area and region that was expertly organised in to folders. There was a good set of board games. We particularly enjoyed playing Sorry with our eldest. The TV was modern with HDMI input so I was able to play videos from my laptop. We knew there was no wifi before we booked so prepared accordingly We never had any issues with parking and liked that we could walk into the centre of town in 5 minutes. We went to the beach at Rockcliffe a couple of times and enjoyed rock pooling and plodging at low tide. It is 15 minutes by car and has toilets but no shops or amusements to distract ;) Judith was a brilliant host, always friendly and responsive, who made us we could feel at home in her house, but that she was there if we needed her

  • Cosy, clean and good value place to stay. Excellent communication from Judith and also Doreen and Ernie who let us in (even when we were later than expected) and were also very helpful. Judith's ideas of local places to visit were great - we had some fab walks on the beaches and forests suggested.

Kirkennan Woodsedge is located on the beautiful and peaceful Kirkennan Estate in South West Scotand. The cottage provide comfortable accommodation within 35 acres of formal lawns, oak wood and walled garden which guests are invited to enjoy.
Kirkennan Woodsedge is located on a historic estate in South West Scotland. The known history goes back to 1647 Guests have access to the Estate landscaped gardens, the Victorian walled garden, the woodland and the fields Guests are totally independent, but we will greet you and ensure you have everything you need. We are normally around the Estate on a day to day basis and are happy to chat or answer questions at any time. We first fell in love with the trees at Kirkennan some of which are hundreds of years old. If you like trees, nature, walking and wildlife you will enjoy this place! There is a bus that will stop if flagged. Bikes and cars can also be hired. There is a pub, bistro and shop within walking distance (1 mile). However you should realise that Kirkennan is in a rural area not a town! Large group? There are two other properties at Kirkennan - just ask.
Dumfries & Galloway is sometimes called 'Scotland's hidden gem' as it is little known but loved by those that do know it. We offer beautiful coastline, wonderful woods, dramatic hills, historic sites, picturesque villages and much more.
  • This is a fantastic place to relax and enjoy the beautiful surroundings of sea, mountains and forests. The cottage is immaculate, spacious and very comfortable with everything you could need. We received a very warm welcome from Jenny, who met us at the door with a bowl of fresh eggs from Kirkennan's own hens! Thank you for a wonderful stay!

Renovated from a 16th century horse stabling, this cottage is a recent addition to our holiday lets. With one twin room and one double mezzanine available for 4 guests. Uniquely finished with wood from the estate, the cottage features a large viewing window which looks across the farmland beyond, a delight in spring when lambs are at play. This is a lovely space set within the 50 acre Argrennan Manor House estate from which to enjoy a break away in this green and peaceful corner of Scotland.
This Cottage features under floor heating, a spacious bathroom with an extra-large tub and an open living/dining/kitchen space great for socialising. Guests are free to roam the 50 acres, with over a mile of circling paths for walks, golf greens for a put about, 3 miles of Beat for Salmon Fishing, and a 2 acre walled garden to explore, all within a peaceful rural setting.
  • We were only here for a night, but feel like we've had a long holiday! Ben and Gail were so friendly and welcoming and the cottage is gorgeous - quirky but with a touch of luxury. It was a real privilege to have the use of the estate grounds as well. The walled garden is fabulous. We hope to come back for a week next time.

  • Stayed here for a few days with our teenage son, house was beautiful, but probably would have been a bit of a squash for four of us, not a lot of kitchen space for prepping food, but, was very clean and comfortable, in a lovely area, we loved our stay here and I would definitely recommend it. Host was lovely, and very helpful.

  • This place was a lucky find. Ben the host was exceptional and went beyond the call of duty. The children were exceptionally entertained with lots of exciting gardens to walk around and the 'secret garden' was incredible. Golf was a bonus. We even saw a fox hiding in the bush. We have been travelling from New Zealand for 3 months and this is the best find by far.

  • We had a great stay at Shire Cottage. The place was very clean, cosy and warm (the underfloor heating was great!). The bath tub is huge and the shower amazing. The kids loved exploring the estate and the walled garden. What a great place to visit and the area is definetely worth exploring. We hope to come back again.
