Ideal for exploring the East of Scotland. You get the whole flat with this booking. Set only 5 minutes walk from the heart of the famous old Scottish town of Forfar and set in a quiet cul-de-sac its. Modern 25 year old large 1 bedroom flat, with 1 large bedroom with a good size double bed, a large sitting room with freeview tv, free wifi, and 2 comfortable single camp beds allowing the flat to easily cater for 4 people. Also a large sofa allowing a 5th person to stay. A modern fully equiped kitchen with a table eating area for 4. Good size modern bathroom with bath and powerful shower, and cosy heating through out and plenty of hot water on demand. Free on street parking right outside the flat. Washing machine, iron and ironing board provided. We also supply a cot bed for infant guests.
The traditional market town of Forfar was once the centre of the ancient Kingdom of the Picts in Angus in Scotland. Now it's home to the world -renowned Scottish delicacy the Forfar Bridie (a deliciously crispy meat pastry traditionally eaten by local farm workers) with two big rival original bakers still in the town, Saddlers and McLarens who both claim to have made the original and still the best bridies. Only one way to solve it is try one from each bakers and make up your own mind. For an insight into Forfar's history, art and industry, visit the Meffan Gallery and Museum. Here you can wander through time in an old cobbled vennel, peer into a knockmaker's workshop and see linen being woven. The Meffan also tells the grim history of Forfar's place in the 17th century witch hunts. If horticulture is your passion, then you can't leave the area without a visit to Pitmuies Gardens, with its roses, herbaceous borders and woodland walks. Forfar and Angus has a number of beautiful walks which we provide guides for. Don't miss the monthly farmers' market on the 2nd sat of the month set in the local cattle market which is enjoyed by visitors and locals alike throughout the year with a wide range of gifts and locally produced food and drink. Forfar has a vibrant town centre with many independent shops and cafes both food and gifts, some nice pubs and restaurants, Forfar also has several medium size supermarkets. In the wider Angus/Tayside/Perthshire area there are amazing walks, climbing, & cycling routes. We provide contact details for a local Forfar outdoor shop who hire bikes for the day if you dont fancy bringing your own bikes. In our guide book we also suggest some lovely car drives or cycle routes to places around the local area. We are only a 10 minute drive from the stunning Glamis Castle and Glamis village where the Queen Mother grew up. Close to the beautiful House of Dun, 20 minute drive to the beautiful towns of Arbroath where you can sample the world famous Arbroath smokie and wander around its romantic fishing harbour, also close to Montrose, Brechin, & Carnoustie. Its only a 10 minute drive to the beautiful town of Kirriemuir which was the home of JM Barrie the author of Peter Pan with a museum in the town in his old house, and if you have younger kids there is an amazing play park paid for by the JM Barrie Foundation designed to resemble the Neverland pirate boat. (Our kids love it). Kirremuir was also where Bon Scott from AC/DC came from with a statue to him in the town. You are in the Strathmore valley which is at the foot of the Angus Glens with amazing scenery, walks, climbs and cycling routes, and close to the Cairngorms mountain range and Scottish Highlands with arguably some of the most beautiful mountains in Scotland with in the wider area. Forfar has several outdoor shops if you need to get some last minute walking or climbing esentials. If bringing bikes you can bring these into the flat corridor rather than leave outside. We are also close to some beautiful beaches with in 30 minute drives great places for picnics, one of the best being the beautiful Lunan Bay. Some great fishing is in the area both rivers and lochs, with some of Scotlands most famous fly fishing locations with in 1 hours drive. We can recommend a local fishing shop in Forfar to help you. We can even recommend a local company about a 20 minute drive away who organise clay pigeon shoots for all expertise levels. Highly recommend if not tried before. So while being in the heart of the Angus countryside Forfar is also still close enough to explore cities like Dundee (20 minutes drive) & Perth (40 minute drive), and Aberdeen (45 minute drive away). Or other Angus towns such as Brechin, Montrose, Carnoustie, Monifieth, Broughty Ferry, Cupar Angus, Arbroath, Kirriemuir, (all about 15 to 25 minutes drive away). If golf is your thing we are close to a number of famous golf courses such as Carnoustie golf course and Carnoustie is hosting the Open golf Championship in July 2018, and Forfar has own highly rated golf course. And of course we are only about a 45 minute drive from St Andrews across the Tay Bridge in Dundee and a short ride into Fife and you don't even need to know anything about golf to appreciate walking around this beautiful, historic, and romantic old town. If you are staying in the area to attend a wedding we are close to a number of beautiful wedding venues such as Guthrie Castle, Forter Castle, Fingask Castle, Piperdam, House of Dun, Colliston Castle, Forbes of Kingennie, Carnoustie Hotel, Glamis Castle, and many more across Tayside, Angus & Fife.
  • Had a wonderful stay here. It was our first time using Airbnb and would definitely visit again. Lovely hosts and the flat was like a home away from home with extra touches like milk in the fridge, teas and pastries available and a wee kids magazine for our young son. Thank you.

Special thanks for your treats, it's really pleasant to have it after a long journey. We wish we stayed longer. Strongly recommend anyone to stay at this place.

  • Very nice and clean flat; well equiped; close to the city-center. Parking space available just in front of the flat. We only spent one night there but we felt very comfortable. We haven't been able to meet Alastair due to our tiny schedule but we had a great and easy contact via sms/e-mail. He was very responsive and made sure we had everything we needed. We would definitely recommand this place !

    Océane2017-06-11T00:00:00Z
  • Ruth and Alastair's flat is lovely and warm and really spacious. We loved having the kitchen so we could cook, and the welcome box of pastries, shortbread, crisps, teas and coffee went down a treat. Sadly we were on 'dry January' so couldn't enjoy the wine and whiskey!! We will definitely be booking again & highly recommend their flat to anyone who wants to explore the area.

    Claire2017-01-15T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed here one night and was perfect. We were welcomed by Alastair, he was friendly, caring, smiling and showing us everything in the appartment, which was cleaned and very good furnitured and decorated. He has left for us even some welcoming drinks, fruits and pastries for morning - and made us sure we were comfortable. Thank you for everything!

    Gabriela2017-07-06T00:00:00Z
  • Ruth and Alastair have thought of everything for your comfort. There are pastries on the counter, a full fruit bowl, a selection of teas and milk in the fridge. Tons of booklets and area tourist information is provided. Check-in is flexible and they were able to accomodate us for an early check-in, which we appreciated. The flat is very comfortable, clean and nicely decorated. We had a great stay.

    Linda2017-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great little pad, perfect for exploring the beautiful countryside. Ruth was so welcoming and went over and beyond to welcome our little baby and make sure we had a cot. Would definitely stay there again.

The Bothy is on a working farm and equestrian centre on edge of 'The Little Red town' of Kirriemuir, gateway to the Angus Glens in the east of Scotland.
The Bothy has a simple, modern feel with an integrated kitchen and living area, wood burning stove (with real wood), TV, stereo, etc. Downstairs in the living area it has a very comfy double bed settee and lots of soft furnishings. We want you to be very comfortable. Upstairs we have a compact mezzanine area with a fabulous Kingsize bed. In total the accommodation sleeps 2 but can accommodate up to 4. We would like to bring to your attention that the stairs are steep and may not be suitable for children or people with mobility issues. The Whole house is centrally heated but also has the added benefit of a wood burning stove. Cooking is by gas and the shower is fantastic and an ideal pressure! We will provide a breakfast hamper on arrival for your first morning which includes, porridge, free range local eggs, locally made jam, croissants, milk and butter. Any other specifics can be requested prior to arrival.
Kirriemuir is a fantastic little rural town and is nicknamed the gateway to the glens due to the towns fantastic location on the fringes of Glen Clova, Glen Doll, Glen Esk, Glen Isla and Glen Prosen which is fantastic for country walks and country pubs. Kirriemuir is also nicknamed "The Wee Red Toon" due to the town being built predominantly from red sand stone, giving it a beautiful, original look! The town itself is a 5 minute walk away from "The Bothy". You can visit the local pubs within the town and the many cafes and wee shops. Kirriemuir also has the famous Visocchis ice cream shop and the star rock shop which are both worth a visit and a bit of indulgence....your on holiday after all!!! The Kirrie folk are friendly and welcome visitors to the town. Kirriemuir folk make the most of their claims to fame by hosting Bonfest weekend which celebrates Kirriemuir being the birthplace of Bon Scott rock legend from ACDC. A statue which was unveiled in 2016 stands proudly in the town. Kirriemuir is also famous for being the birthplace of JM Barrie author of Peter Pan. The Peter Pan statue is also positioned in the centre of the town and his birthplace is open seasonally. The stunning Glamis Castle is a mere 6 miles away and regularly holds open days and events. the near by town of Forfar can be reached within 6 miles, Dundee is the closest city and can be reached in 18 miles. St Andrews (home of golf and worth a visit) is 32 miles away. Buses are available every hour to Forfar and Dundee from right outside "The Bothy". There is space for cars if u are coming with your own vehicle. Kirriemuir is perfectly placed to offer a wide variety of experiences and sight seeing opportunities as well as city visits if u so choose.
  • We had a lovely stay at the bothy. It was cosy (great log fire), well kitted out (great bathroom) and comfortable (great bed and sofa bed). Nicole and Ally were very friendly and attentive, and around to help out with anything we needed. They even bought an iron and ironing board specially as we said we needed to look smart for a wedding! Overall would highly recommend to anyone wanting to explore the glens.

    Theo2016-08-30T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our stay at the Bothy. Nicole was very quick to respond and was able to take a booking at the last minute. We were made very welcome and found the place to be ideal for a relaxing break. It was ideally placed for exploring Kirriemuir and the nearby Angus Glens.

    Abby2016-03-31T00:00:00Z
  • The bed is SO comfy, and the shower is great. Come down the stairs backwards.

  • Thank you very much. We had a long stay and it was very very nice. The Bothy is wonderful. Clean and very comfortable. Better than I thought. In the Bothy there is everything you need. Ally and his family are very friendly and generous. Our stay was better than stay at home. We're still here but already we miss. In addition, my daughters were very happy for riding lesson. We would like to come back soon. In fact we are sure that we will come back. Thank you so much !! Martina, Alessia, Daniela and Ermanno

  • Thanks Nicole, we had a wonderful weekend walking in the beautiful snow covered Angus Glens. The Botha was a great base, warm and cosy with the log burning fire and a great hot shower and very comfy bed. Plenty of room for two and a good sized kitchen and living area. We enjoyed visiting the horses first thing in the morning. Would happily return Chris

    chris2015-11-23T00:00:00Z
  • A really lovely stay in the Bothy. We booked this on a whim and were not disappointed! Not far from some great walks/hikes and gorgeous scenery. Nicole was great, and communication was easy. The wine was a bonus!

    Claire2016-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • Our host was there to welcome us even although she was 5dys past her due birth date!! Bothy was well designed and cleverly thought out! Immaculate attention to detail, the mezzanine bedroom added character to the property! We organised a horse riding lesson for our 12 year old daughter at the equestrian centre while we were there and Susan, the yard manager was excellent, and she enjoyed it so much that she wants to continue having lessons. Ideal base for visiting Glamis, Forfar and Reekie Linns falls a definite must. x

    kirstine2015-10-17T00:00:00Z
  • The Bothy was lovely and we were made to feel very welcome by Ally. It was exactly as we expected it to be so the photos were an honest representation of it. The house was in a nice little town, which had great access to some beautiful places. We were very pleased that we chose the Bothy to stay in.

  • Perfect place to stay! Everything is well thought to the tiny detail.

    Maxim2017-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • Without a doubt, for anyone who is looking for an excellent place to stay while visiting this region of Scotland, you will not be disappointed. We stayed for three nights, but would have stayed longer. It is an excellent central point for those who are travelling by car, near Glamis Castle. Even more, you can go North, South, East and West to see much of what this area has to offer. The welcome package is exceptionnal, all you need is there when you arrive. Groceries and Peter Pan are a short walk away! I will recommend to all my friends back home who are thinking of visiting Scotland. Elaine, many many thanks, the family fell in love with the place, Kirrimuir and the overall tranquility it has to offer.

  • First time using Airbnb, very easy and got exactly what was advertised. Very clean and well equipped home. How lovely to have the kitchen stocked with some essential supplies. It was great to come back to a cosy bed at the end of our day. Elaine is a superb host.

  • Elaine was a pleasure to deal with and answered all of my messages immediately and she was there to greet us on arrival. The house was bigger than what I expected and was in a great location. I would definitely book to stay there again.

    Carl2017-07-11T00:00:00Z
  • Elaine, the host, was able to cater for our trip being a Friday to Wednesday, where no-one else could, and I am glad she could. The house is immaculate, has high speed wifi, and everything you could need to make the stay a brilliant experience, including a small patio and garden to the rear, with a log burner. There is on street parking, with no issues, and is located on the main road into Kirriemuir, so easy to find. You are around an hour from Edinburgh, 30 minutes from Dundee, and right on the edge of the Angus Glens, excellent for walking etc. Within 10 minutes walk are several family friendly pubs, resturants and the centre of the small town. This is probably the best holiday rental we have had in 10 years.

    Kevin2017-08-16T00:00:00Z
  • I stayed at this airbnb the place was lovely. Our host Elaine was very welcoming and helpful with showing us all the household appliances. It's spotless, warm, and contemporary on the inside. It was clean and had a well stocked kitchen to meet all your needs. Beautiful and thoughful interiors. It was the perfect base for a weekend getaway in Edinburgh and surroundings. Can not recommend more highly!

    Kirriemuir, Scotland, United Kingdom

Our beautiful guest suite offers you quality, relaxing and - at nearly 14m (45 ft) long - extremely spacious accommodation, all at ground-floor level and with the benefits of your own fully equipped kitchen/sitting/dining area with ceramic hob, microwave/conventional oven, fridge and multi-fuel stove, plus large conservatory and well kept garden area. There is a private (not en-suite but adjacent) showerroom, ample parking and safe storage space for bicycles in the conservatory.
Set in a very quiet residential area with spectacular views of the valley of Strathmore, The Crandard offers the ideal base from which to enjoy the many pleasures of the local area and explore further afield. Our suite combines many of the best aspects of both self catering and bed and breakfast and is comfortable, elegant and practical. We feel sure you'll enjoy your stay with us! We welcome people aged 6 and over (though we do ask grown-ups to keep a close eye on the younger folk, when using the garden area especially) and, if they can bring their own bed with them, we're happy to accommodate a very well behaved canine visitor in the conservatory. Please be aware, however, that the conservatory is unheated and gets very cold at night in winter. Note also that we have two cats who aren't at all fond of dogs! Our suite bedroom has two roomy single beds which can be joined to make superking (please let us know in your booking message and with at least 24 hours' notice if you would like the superking option) plus an equally comfortable full-length trundle bed for a third guest which can be made up either in the bedroom or, for those who wish more privacy, in the sitting room. There's a digital shower in the showerroom and plenty of storage there and elsewhere. Please note that door to the showerroom is relatively narrow at 58cm and that in the property there are two shallow steps and two upvc door-frame bases that may prohibit wheelchair use. We offer a daily 'breakfast starter pack' of tea/coffee, etc, biscuits, pastries, milk and cereal, which we leave in the suite for you to prepare whenever you're ready, and provide a basketful of fuel and kindling for the stove each day you require one. Except during very warm weather, there's gas central heating for at least an hour morning and evening. We're happy to do your washing up once a day in our dishwasher and, with a little notice, you're welcome to use our washing machine, iron and board (depending on availability and at your own risk). As we're both traditional-music tutors, we can (at extra cost) offer three-hour beginners' taster courses in either Scottish harp, jew's harp or tin-whistle, giving you the perfect opportunity to relax and pick up a new skill at the same time!
We live in an attractive and very quiet area of detached housing on the edge of town (but still only 5 minutes' walk into the centre) and with great views. As some of our neighbours have young children we ask you to be aware of noise levels at night in the conservatory and when entering and leaving the building.
  • The house is extremely pleasant, quiet, comfortable, in a pretty small town, a few minutes walk to the supermarket and pub. The warmth, the availability and the sympathy of Susan and Manuel have been magnificient and have enriched our holiday. The place is in our mind as a delightful relaxing moment.

    LEONARDO2017-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • Manuel and Susan's place was fantastic. Plenty room for 3 people and immensely clean. I have stayed in over 30 places while working away from home and this trumps all the others. Plenty parking, close to amenities but also close to trunk roads.

    Simon2017-07-21T00:00:00Z
  • Susan was very helpful getting is settled and making us feel at home. The place is so clean and very nicely decorated with all the comforts of home and then some.

    Karen2017-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • Super clean, modern and wonderful!!! Amenities are perfect . You will love the hosts, the village and the house.

    Jonathan2017-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • Fab accommodation, will now use it every time I work in dundee and when I visit friends in Forfar

    Josephine2017-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • We spend two nights at this property. It is a lovely, spacious room with attached conservatory, that has everything you would need for a comfortable and relaxing stay. Susan and Manuel are a wonderfully friendly and welcoming couple who are on hand if you have any needs, but otherwise stay out of your way, and leave you to your on devices. The property is just a few minutes from the centre of Kerrimuir itself, and it is also a good base for exploring eh surrounding area. Would certainly stay again if we were visiting the area. Highly recommended.

    Scott2017-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • A great place to stay! Spacious, well equipped and very clean. Susan and Manuel were friendly and helpful and gave us a warm welcome. The king+ bed was very comfortable, and the breakfast pack was totally delicious! We had some great walks and bike rides up in beautiful Glen Clova and Glen Prosen. Recommended!

    Kate2017-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • Our one night stay at Susan's was great. The space is large, well equipped and comfortable. Susan greeted us with a big smile, and made us, and our puppy, feel at home straight away. She even provided tips on some nice dog walks we could do that evening. All in all a great stop over. Only wished we could have stayed longer!

A cosy farm cottage 1 mile north of Kirriemuir , close to the Cairngorm National Park, perfect for walking, climbing and cycling. Great views of the countryside , Angus Glens and the Cairngorm Mountains. Heating and hot water is free & plentiful, generated by burning straw in out biomass boiler, all produced on the farm.
Steading cottage is a warm and welcoming place to visit. It would have been built in the very early 1800's for a farmworker and his family to live in. Since the mid 1970's it has been home to members of our family. All heating and electricity are included in the price. We are very aware of our carbon footprint and now produce all our own heat and hot water by burning home produced straw in the biomass boiler. Our electricity is generated by the wind-turbine you can see from the cottage. Steading Cottage is spacious with a large bright kitchen/diner, 2 bedrooms (1 king-size, 1 twin), lounge and newly updated shower room. Large garden with plenty parking.
Muirhouses Farm is in a very scenic rural area, about 20 miles north of Dundee, at the foot of the Angus Glens. Glen Isla, Glen Prosen, Glen Clova & Glen Moy are all beautiful in their own way. Glen means valley, each with hills and mountains rising from their sides. This is an area ideal for walking ,climbing, cycling or just taking in the views. The Cairngorm National Park is just a few miles away and Glen Clova is home to Caenlochan nature reserve as well Corrie Fee, a world famous site for alpine plants. Kinnordy Loch is short distance away - an RSPB reserve for birds and wildlife. Kirriemuir itself is only 1 mile away and is home to the birthplace of Sir J.M. Barrie, author of Peter Pan. Glamis Castle is a short drive away and there are many excellent golf courses within 30 minutes drive. Kirriemuir now also has a woderful playpark called Neverland, great fun for children of all ages. There are many excellent restaurants and cafes in the area - a folder with all details is available at Steading Cottage.
  • Dear Susan, thank you for being the gracious hosts and for making the effort to make us feel at home.. The cottage was perfect in adding to the refreshingly relaxed holiday we had in kirriemuir. You have been kind to give us the delicious homemade raspberry preserve, and also take us through your farm. Everything in the cottage was kept perfectly when we arrived and the directions you gave us to visit places helped us a lot. Thanks much and really look fwd to visiting again. Wishing you a very busy season for many many years to come..

    Rama2016-06-04T00:00:00Z
  • Had a lovely welcome from Susan on arrival. She showed us around the cottage which was presented very well, clean and warm. Susan had made some lovely shortbread and jam which the children enjoyed as well as a bowl of fresh fruit, food for breakfast and milk and juice. The cottage had good Internet access, centrally heated and very light and airy. Everything was provided for cooking, washing and bedding. Susan was available nearby and assured us that if we needed anything, she was there. Overall, we were so pleased with our stay, we are planning on staying here again.

    Sarita2016-08-29T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fantastic stay at Steading Cottage. Susan communicated clearly with me before the trip and when we arrived we were looked after and shown the cottage. The cottage was perfect - light, well equipped, spotlessly clean etc. The beds were fantastic, as was the shower and the kitchen facilities. The view from the kitchen/dining room window is great (fields and trees). The farm is busy, but not in any noisy way. It added to the experience to see people coming and going and seeing the goings-on on the farm, and being able to talk with Susan and her family when we saw them. There is plenty of information in the cottage about sights and attractions in the area, and the big map on the kitchen wall was really helpful for us planning our trips. We are already thinking that we would like to visit the area again and stay at Steading Cottage again. I'd recommend visiting the area and staying at Susan's.

    Simon2016-08-09T00:00:00Z
  • I stayed with Susan and Willie 14 years ago. We received an extremely warm reception as though we had been good neighbours for a long time. We appreciated their knowledge and enthusiasm for the area. The cottage is very spacious, comfortable, clean and well equipped. Susan is very thoughtful and generous.

    Heather2016-06-15T00:00:00Z
  • The big cottage is a good place for relaxing, hiking, cycling and for sightseeing around this area. We felt very comfortable. Susan and her family are very warmly hosts. They offer a clean cottage for any needs. Thank you very much!!!

  • We had a great time in Susan's cottage! The cottage was just perfect for us and well equiped with washing machine and washdished an it was so cosy and warmed! Susan was a really nice host very attentioned and she welcome us with some handmade biscuits and a delicious marmelade! really apreciate the quiet of the place, just normal noises from a farm, and the view directely on the fields and the two enourmous caws!, my son was delighted! The cottage has a very good situation to visit the area where we discovered plenty of things to do and visit. Thanks Susan for this nice stay!

  • Susan and her family are fantastic hosts and the cottage is lovely. It has everything you need for a very comfortable stay. It's on a working farm which makes it very interesting. This is the second time we've stayed and we enjoy everything about staying at the cottage and visiting the area which is very beautiful and excellent for all sorts of outdoor activities.

    Lucy2017-04-09T00:00:00Z
  • We spent six lovely days in Steading Cottage in the big Muirhouses farm! The house is very comfortable, spacious and well equipped. It offers a nice and relaxing view on the fields from the dining room/kitchen; two bulls walking, eating grass and plying together near the garden are an unusual attractions, too! Susan and her husband are very kind and gave us many useful suggestions. Susan prepared a welcome with delicious home made cookies, jam and marmalade. It is a good place to stay, perfect for exploring the beautiful Angus County and hard to leave! We strongly recommend it, particularly to whom are looking for a peaceful stay, nice views (the sunsets are terrific!) and make experience of country life.

Rose is very welcoming, gives good advice/information and makes for a nice talk when you are around. Breakfast in the morning is good start of the day with the homemade bread and jams.

  • Couldn't ask for anything more. What a stunning little getaway in the countryside about 10 minutes away from Glamis castle. It's a self-sufficient small holding thats eco friendly, clean, homely and welcoming. The bed is extremely comfortable and the shower is amazing. Every morning, they bake fresh bread and provide home-made jams and preserves which are excellent, along with muesli and all the normal stuff. It's a 5 minute drive to the nearest small town where there's everything you'd need and some lovely restaurants. I stayed for three nights and left feeling refreshed, relaxed and energised. Thanks for having me.

  • Rosalie was a wonderful host. Her Bed and Breakfast exceeds expectations for cleanliness, accommodations, and she truly puts in the extra effort to make your stay wonderful. If you are looking for a nice getaway in the country and awaking to freshly baked bread with home-grown and home-made jam, this is the BnB for you! My fiancee and I definitely plan to return again on our next holiday!

    Jake2017-10-17T00:00:00Z
  • Had a lovely stay at Rose and George's guest accommodation. Both were very flexible and went out of their way to make us feel at home. Loved the rural location, fresh bread and homemade jams for breakfast. There are a good selection of places to eat within a short drive. Best indicator of a b&b is always would I return? Definitely. If we are up in the area again we will be repeat visitors.

Rosie's Bothy is set in stunning Angus countryside. The county of Angus is a hidden treasure that stretches from the glens to the coast. The ski slopes of Glenshee are 35 miles away and there are plenty of golf courses. The Little red town of Kirriemuir, birth place of the author J.M. Barrie, is close by. Kirriemuir has a supermarket and a good selection of independent shops. Rosie's Bothy offers two en suite bedrooms (one twin and one double) and a garden room. Linen and towels are provided.
The Bothy was in days gone by, home to the farm lads or the Bothy boys. In 2001 our lovely Granny converted the buildings into a cosy home. The walls are very thick. The Bothy has access to our walled garden. Well behaved pets are most welcome but incur an additional cleaning charge.
  • You can expect a warm welcome to Rosie's Bothy as well as lots of home comforts, including home baked bread! The photos don't do the property justice and it is much bigger than you would imagine, with a huge conservatory looking onto the gardens. We haven't enjoyed a break as much as this in a long time and will come back in the winter to be near the ski slopes!

    Elaine2017-07-11T00:00:00Z
  • Fiona was a delight. She made us an apple pie and provided fresh rolls. The cottage was very well equipped and the kitchen well provision. Fiona is an expert forager and a copy of one of her books about cooking with wild plants was in the kitchen.

    James2016-11-09T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our stay there. The house was very cozy and they were very kind all the time. The raspberries they brought us were delicious.

    Jose María2017-08-17T00:00:00Z
  • Fiona is lovely and very keen to ensure you are having a great time - we wished we could have stayed longer but will definitely be back. The location is great and quiet. The cottage is super cosy!

    Clare2016-11-06T00:00:00Z
  • Rosie's Bothy is a beautiful, well equipped house with lots of personal touches, (Fiona has thought of everything and you really only need to bring your clothes!) and was perfect for our short stay away with our parents and our dog. The Bothy is very spacious and a bonus for us was having both bedrooms with en suite bathrooms. Many thanks to Fiona and her lovely family who gave us a very warm and friendly welcome and provided many delicious extras throughout our stay (Fiona's fantastic home made bread, jam, marmalade, pesto and quiche, fresh eggs, butter, milk, potatoes, carrots and beetroot!!!!!) which were all very much appreciated and enjoyed. The location of Rosie's Bothy was perfect for us - quiet and peaceful with lots of lovely walks on the doorstep but also perfect for visiting other areas nearby. We all enjoyed the long walks through the forest behind the house. It's only 2 minutes drive to the nearest village which has a well stocked shop selling fresh rolls, pies, cakes, newspapers, etc and only 5 mins drive to Kirriemuir. We also visited Arbroath, Alyth, Blairgowrie, Forfar and spent a lovely day walking at Glen Doll and Reekie Linn waterfall. We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday and would not hesitate to recommend Rosie's Bothy to anyone. We wish we could have stayed longer!!

    Margaret2017-04-16T00:00:00Z
  • Fiona and her family made us very welcome - they are the ultimate hosts, providing vegetables, butter, home made bread and jam. The bothy was cosy and comfortable and we had a lovely 2 day break. Thank you Fiona!

  • What a fantastic place to stay. Fiona and Stephen were incredible hosts and made our stay so easy and relaxing including spoiling us with home made treats. Culhawk House is an architect designed converted and extended stone bothy, located in a fine rural setting on the hillside at Over Ascreavie farm steading, on a private estate. It lies at the gateway to Glen Isla, adjacent to Glen Prosen and Glen Clova, but is approximately 5 miles from the major town of Kirriemuir, famous for being the home of Peter Pan. The house sits in an elevated south facing generous plot, with far reaching views of the Glen and open countryside.
All on one level, the spacious hallway leads to a large open plan living/dining room with a wood burning stove as a focal feature. The bright triple aspect kitchen has a range cooker and dishwasher, large upright fridge freezer, and adjacent spacious utility room. 2 bedrooms (Superking with ensuite, double with 'Jack n Jill', both have baths/showers) and a further cloakroom/wc. There is also a study off the welcoming hallway. The house has under floor heating throughout - it remains at an ambient temperature 24/7, so you should stay cosy morning and night! A small burn runs through the garden, and views to Culhawk Hill and surrounding fields can be enjoyed, with parking for 3 cars on site. You approach the house from a rising farm track, and immediately behind the steading lies a further track leading to glorious unspoiled hill land, with stunning views to Cat Law, the Pearsie estate and down to Auld Allan - that in turn leads to Balintore Castle. The wildlife here include deer, birds of prey, red squirrel, all the game birds, hares and stoats - there are even local beavers at the nearby village of Kingoldrum. No smokers please, and dogs are welcome but strictly not on the furniture! Please sleep your dog/s in the utility room (a large dog bed is provided). Please also keep you dog under control at all times on the steading - fields will have livestock in the summer months. No party usage please, and no smoking.
This area is ideal for anyone who enjoys walking, cycling, golf, fishing, shooting and is around 40 minutes from the glorious beaches at Lunan Bay (Arbroath) and St Cyrus (Montrose). The nearest village is Kingoldrum, whilst Dundee, Perth and Aberdeen are all within an hours drive. Nearby Kirriemuir has 2 supermarkets, plus cafe's, shops and banking amenities that you would expect from a large town. There is a Neverland play park on The Hill at Kirrie, and Dundee provides cinemas, shopping and Scott of the Antartic 'Discovery' ship on the Quayside. Glamis Castle is a 15 minute drive away. Glenclova, with access to Loch Brandy and the stunning walks at Glen Doll, including Jocks Road to Braemar, is around 20 min drive. Lintrathen Loch provides our glorious water supply, and is 10 minutes drive away, with the Wee Bear café at the Lodge at Lochside adjacent to the water. The waterfall at Reekie Linn is a 15 min drive, with Peel Farm gifts and café en route just before Reekie. The Drovers Inn at Memus is a must for Angus steak lovers, and the The Strathmore Arms at Glamis a well regarded and traditional watering hole. For those wanting something for a special occasion meal, try the Lands of Loyal at Alyth for some Scottish grandeur

  • Stayed at this place for Easter holidays and it was exactly how we expected. In a nice and quiet location but yet with good restaurants and shops just a short drive away. The house was as we expected and the children had an amazing time hunting for Easter eggs in the garden. Sarah wasn't there but she text us with directions and was very friendly making sure we were well settled.

    Mark2017-04-16T00:00:00Z
  • Sarah has a wonderful home which is the perfect mix of secluded and close enough to Kirriemuir for nipping into town for supplies. We enjoyed our stay with everything we could've wanted and more. The utility room is perfect for the dogs along with a lovely garden with amazing views. We loved the burn that ran through the garden too (not as much as the dogs though!). We were pleasantly surprised that Sarah stayed in touch throughout the stay. The house is extremely large but still homely.

    Kirstin2017-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • This house is lovely, comfortable and relaxing with beautiful interiors. The setting is amazing and very peaceful, overlooking fields and hills. Excellent access to day trips such as Glen Clova and Lunan Bay, so much to see and do. We had a wonderful stay, and Sarah could not have been more helpful. Very easy to stay in touch with and helped with any queries we had including excellent recommendations for nearby activities and restaurants! We will be back to stay and would recommend to anyone looking for a Scottish country retreat!

    Jon2017-07-28T00:00:00Z

  • Amazing stay at Culhawk house. Beautiful setting with fantastic walks from the house. The family made many new memories playing games and relaxing in the garden.

    Zoe2017-07-21T00:00:00Z
  • Great, clean, stylish, warm, well kitted out home. Quiet location, great views. Lots to do round about and Sarah had really good advice about places to go. We'd recommend the Wee Bear Cafe and the chips at the Italian in Kirriemuir. The Peter Pan play park is essential if you have kids (or energetic husbands!) and it's free!

The Weavers is an enchanting "C" listed stone built town house. It has a bright sunny accomodation for four people. Key features include a period open fire, secret back garden and front raised terrace. The house gas been "immortalised" by local artist "J Herald Watterson" in a painting called 'The Roup' (1859-1914). The property was originally three houses and was lived in by weavers. The remains of the dyeing bath can be seen in the secret garden.
Great for couples, family group and anyone working in the area. "The Weavers" has all that you would expect, home from home.

  • This was the perfect property to stay in during our stay in Forfar. We couldn't have asked for anything better. The hosts, Sharon and Jim, were fab!! Nothing was too much trouble for them. We were well looked after from the moment we booked the property. This will definitely be our holiday get away when visiting family in Scotland again. Perfect location within Forfar as well. We did have a car with us which left it easier for travelling around, however we did use the local taxi services and regular buses were available on the main street of we had needed. A real home from home. Highly recommended to all. I don't know how anyone could fault the property. 10 out of 10 from us!!

  • Sally is warm and thoughtful, and the cottage was, as my university-age son put it, "AWESOME!" It is an immaculate country retreat with all of the amenities you could possibly need, including what every teenager requires - a strong WiFi signal! Sally even welcomed my family with home-made pancakes and jam; I can't fathom how she knew that was my husband's favorite! What a lovely lady, and so accommodating! Go stay at her cottage! ...just not when I need to. :)

  • I rented this house for my parents when they came to see me in Scotland and they were really happy about everything! Communication with Sally was great, she was very friendly and helpful. The cottage is perfect, really cosy and perfectly kept. I would definitely recommend staying there!

  • The stay at Sally's cottage was only our second Airbnb experience and our best so far. As a host, Sally was amazing. On arrival, after the quick tour of the cottage, Sally had prepared some freshly baked bread for us (which we devoured quickly after our long journey). And then on the second day, some homemade pikelets with jam were sitting on the table after we got back from exploring the local area. Yummy. The cottage itself is a very clean, well maintained property that is next door to Sally's house. Due to the proximity, Sally ensures that everything is ok throughout while still providing you a good level of privacy. We had been travelling through France and UK nearing the tail end of our trip, so all the extra bits and pieces Sally did made a big difference to our weary bodies! Thanks Sally for providing us with such comfortable accommodation on the Scottish leg of our trip.

  • Sally is a fun person and excellent at looking after her AirBnB guests. We arrived to home-made bread and pancakes, plus a basket of essentials. The bread was superb, better than any bread that I have had before. The cottage is lovely, a mixture of traditional and modern, clean, bright and comfortable with every need covered. Quality abounds. There is a busy, by Shetland standards, road that the property fronts onto. Other than the traffic, which is far from constant, it was a peaceful experience. Parking was made available for our stay. There was a mid-stay delivery of more baked goods, equally delicious. The cottage is ideally located for visits to Blairgowrie and beyond to the Cairngorms, without the exorbitant rates charged for Cairngorms properties. Dundee is close by too. The only thing I would change would be the mattress. I could feel the springs against my ribs, but for all the other excellence it's a small complaint.

  • We couldn't have felt more welcomed from the beginning of our stay in Angus. Sally was a wonderful host ensuring we had everything we needed for our weekend stay. The cottage was really well equipped and absolutely immaculate. Sally took into account i was gluten intolerant and had made beautiful scones and provided gluten free bread which was really kind and much appreciated. We would loved to have stayed for longer to make the most of the beautiful surroundings. A trip to Glamis castle was recommended by Sally and this was well worth the visit. We hope to stay here again at some point in the future!
