Holiday Rentals in Knightstown

Just booked in Knightstown

Our ranch home is in a quiet neighborhood with the feel of a park. We're only minutes from downtown Indy and Greenfield. We are empty nesters w/ an extra bedroom and full bath available to guests. In the summer we spend many hours on our deck.
Our home is nestled in a wooded area so it's typical to see squirrels, rabbits, and plenty of birds. The community only has 65 homes and is only accessible by one main road so its safe to walk, run, or ride at almost any time. The Pennsy trail is just one mile from our home and perfect for walking, running, or riding a bike. With easy access to I70 and US 40, it's a short trip to Indianapolis or Greenfield.
We know most of our surrounding neighbors and we all look out for each other. Our neighbors our wonderful!
  • AWESOME place!!! The bedroom is cozy with a comfortable bed. The private bathroom is very convenient. Nancy and Doug welcome us with delicious brownies and snacks. And even for breakfast, they offer us snacks, fruits, tea and coffee. So generous!! We had a great time :-) We highly recommend staying here! Thanks again guys.

  • Nancy & Doug were great, they made me feel very welcome during my time with them. I didn't see them often because I was working long hours but they were very accommodating to my busy schedule.

  • This was my first experience using Airbnb. If all my experiences are like this stay, all will be good. Hosts were phenomenal. They knew how to draw the line when offering privacy and contact. It was completely left up to me, the renter. My stay was on business so I wasn't in the home much but felt very welcomed during my stay. Renter has access to their own bathroom. The bathroom does require you to exit your room into the hallway - but a privacy shade is offered which could be used for additional privacy. Nice quiet neighborhood, felt completely safe during the visit. Location is about 5 miles (10 min drive) away from multiple eating places and shopping. All in all a great experience away from home. I would not hesitate to book again if in the area.

  • On arrival, I see a scenic and quiet neighborhood nestled in tall trees and green grass. I was warmly welcomed by Nancy and her husband who are smiling, pleasant and gracious. The room looks just like the pictures. The room is wonderful and the bed is very comfortable. Fresh coffee and homemade breads are ready for me in the morning with snacks available any time. My one month stay was great and I am more than satisfied with my stay. I will be returning to stay again the next time I'm in the area. I wholly recommend staying in this "cozy ranch home." Jennifer

  • Nancy's place is on the out skirts of Indy. It is quiet and she is a great host.we arrived to muffins and bottled water. One morning there was freshly baked pumpkin bread. We also had use of a refrigerator and the back deck, which was nice to have a glass of wine on after a long day.

    Paula2017-06-18T00:00:00Z
  • We arrived late without any prior communication, and Nancy still welcomed us with open arms. We parked in her driveway and entered the house to find a nice cozy ranch exactly as listed. The dogs were away when we all walked back to the room. The bed and bathroom were clean and had a nice temperature. When we woke in the morning, coffee and cinnamon buns were waiting on the counter and Nancy was knitting on the porch. We briefly played with the pooches and were on our way.

    Ruth2015-05-25T00:00:00Z
  • Nancy's house is very welcoming and she provides a smooth accommodating experience. Highly recommended.

    Ryan2017-05-28T00:00:00Z
  • Nancy's home was very welcoming, pleasant, and clean. My wife and I were very comfortable during our stay. Nancy and her husband were very warm, friendly people. I would stay here again in a heartbeat!

My place is close to The HOOSIER gym (Where the famed movie was filmed) The gym is located just one block south. You can visit the gym for free. You’ll love my place because of The coziness, and the convenience. Small town feel close to big cities. I try and offer everything a standard hotel chain would offer including privacy, unless asked upon. Knightstown itself is a small rural farm town community that offers quite a bit do do for all people. (Antiquing, Golfing, Disc golf, and more!)
Entirely private. Two bedrooms, living room, bathroom, and common area. Everything a standard hotel chain would offer. No kitchen just mini fridge & microwave. No cable. Tv, and antenna.
I grew up in knightstown. "Our slogan here holds true. Knightstown- a good place to visit, but a better place to live! Knightstown is located appx 35 miles east of Indianapolis. Just far enough lol. We are located right on old national Rd. (US40) we also are only 3.5 miles south of I-70. We have quite the Main Street with plenty of antique shopping, and small one of a kind business. We are located right on the big blue river....a good place to put a yak in....I have some available lol. There is also a beautiful golf course located here (Royal Hylands). I save led the best for last though! Our biggest claim to fame is being known for the movie Hoosiers! It was filmed in the historic gym located just one block s. You can see my front porch from the entry. The gym is wonderful, and is open most everyday. Come shoot some hoops!!!
  • This was a clean, quiet and comfortable stay in a private half of a duplex. The host was very friendly and helpful. It was very restful, and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Recommended!

  • I stayed for a few weeks and it was pleasant. Nothing fancy but right in line with the price.

  • This place is great! Nice, comfortable, and cozy. My wife loved the shower most of all! I'd recommend it to anyone who will be in this area! 20 minutes from Indianapolis and Anderson.

  • Basic accommodations. The renovation is in progress. Very congenial host, though.

  • In a ten-thousand mile loop around the country, we stayed at 19 locations in the Airbnb universe. None of them failed us in our needs, expectations, or welcoming hospitality. Together they became an evolving mosaic of American lifestyle, enterprise, and humanity. They ranged structurally from free-standing former elderly parent houses, detached or duplex apartments, private bedroom-bathroom suites, lofts, and in one case, the absent host's entire home. There were working farms and ranches, gated compounds, suburban developments, magnificent historic renovations (including a 19th-century stagecoach inn with a four-poster bed), and a couple of majestic isolated properties situated in dramatic landscapes. Within the flush of such variety, our experience at Jason's modest duplex in the small-town heart of the Indiana heartland struck a chord that resounded like a solo refrain within some great choral arrangement, echoing both the themes and rhythms of the larger piece, while announcing its own clarion identity in contrapuntal harmony. Knightstown, Indiana is an iconic representation of a vast segment of the American past, one of the thousands of small communities that stuck and survived in the great expansions beyond the Thirteen Colonies. Its hold on our attention requires no more credibility than that of its high school gymnasium located three blocks down on the same street from Jason, which served as the setting for the classic movie "Hoosiers". (Jason gladly distributes complimentary VHS copies of the movie to his guests.) Perhaps more telling of the community's rich cultural traditions is the elegant former high school building itself, whose large sculpted globe and telescope sitting atop its two high, turreted towers look as if they could belong to classic European buildings in Pisa or Greenwich. Jason himself is an energetic, affable, and enterprising young man, who grew up in Knightstown and besides local basketball lore, is a walking encyclopedia of most major college and professional sports (especially baseball), past and present. He purchased his duplex across from his boyhood home, which by his own acknowledgement is a work in progress (there is a mini-fridge, perfect to put ice blocks in for car travel, and a microwave while he is renovating the kitchen). It had everything we needed for a comfortable overnight stay, complete with A/C and WiFi. There was something that filled the experience beyond the mere basics, something resurgent and connected, that no amenities alone can provide.

    Françoise2017-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • Peaceful, quiet retreat

    Daryl2017-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • Jason owns a lovely duplex right by the gym where the movie Hoosiers was filmed. It's a charming spot with two beds and a pull-out couch. I particularly loved his vast collections of VHS (videos!) and DVDs for guests to choose from, if they wanted to lounge at home. The kitchen is still under a bit of repair, but I wasn't in need on cooking amenities. Town is a quick 10 minute jaunt with several Midwest food options (think country breakfasts, fried foods, and ice cream). I also took a 15 minute drive down the highway to Spiceland, IN to enjoy some delicious Indian food, an unexpected surprise! Best part of Jason's place is Jason! Super friendly, kind, communicative, and accessible. He grew up in the area, offering local insight and incredible hospitality.

    Victoria2017-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • Really spacious home which is clean, quiet and very comfortable. We loved our stay in Knightstown and visiting the Hoosiers Gym. The drive into Indianapolis is quick and easy too so it makes a good base for a city break in a delightful neighbourhood. Jason was the perfect welcoming host with little touches that showed he cared - donuts in the kitchen, plenty of DVDs including Hoosiers and lots of towels. We'd definitely stay again!

    The Hoosier Hostel
    9 reviews
Our place is close to Downtown Greenfield (famous for James Whitcomb Riley) and Knightstown (famous for the movie Hoosiers and the antique stores). Our home dates back to 1838, and possibly beyond when it was a stagecoach inn off the National Road. Our place is good for solo adventurers, business travelers, and furry friends (pets).
We took a decrepit historical house and made it into something our own with the skills of our creative carpenter.
We live in a tiny town of Cleveland which is 15-20 houses right off of Highway 40 so there's not much of a neighborhood. But our yard is nice for quiet walks.
  • Beautiful house in quiet area but not too far drive from highway. Very nice place and family

10 acre private stocked lake with boat ramp and dock on 18 acre property. 2000 plus sq ft 3 bdrm home sleeps 9. Big enough to water, tube and jet ski on. 25 minutes to downtown Indianapolis and 35 minutes to the Indianapolis motor speedway. 9 minutes to all types of restaurants, hotels, shopping, movies. Catch and release fishing ONLY. Fenced in large backyard. Jon boat, paddle boat and kayak. Get near water at your own risk. Must always wear life jackets and sign wavier.
Private rural setting but close to I-70. Everything is here but you. Attractive to those who love the water, fish, jet ski or simply read on the 2nd story deck overlooking the private lake. Truly a paradise. The owner lives on the property in another facility much of the time. There is also an outdoor fire pit available for use with chairs. Since it is a rural setting with a well I suggest guests bring water for drinking. There is filtered water from the Frig door but we choose to use purchased water to drink. You can get all you need for 89¢ a gallon at the near by Walmart or Krogers. Most of the time I will have a couple of gallons already there to tide you over if you did not bring any.
On either side of my property are corn fields and bean fields. There are some houses not far away but not super close.
  • The host Wade is one of the kindest host we have ever had. I Highly recommend his home and his hospitality to anyone wanting a nice getaway.

  • We moved south to TN 2 years ago and my parents followed suit 2 months ago. Some of my family along with all of my husbands family still live here in IN, but we were out of a place to stay after my parents moved. We decided to try our first air b&b and we are so glad we did! This place is a true gem! It's so spacious and feels just like a home away from home. There's a spacious closet and a comfy living room area to sit and watch tv by a nice little fireplace. There's also a cute little kitchen area complete with an awesome coffee bar! The character is what really won us over. They did such a great job of creating a little German cottage but also making it modern enough to not feel dark or stuffy. The little details were also amazing. They had adorable little custom window panels to cover all the small windows which allowed all the privacy you could want. There was plenty of shelving and storage for all of your items. The bed was super comfortable also! As if all of these factors weren't enough to make us want to return, the grounds are absolutely beautiful! There's a gorgeous garden area to walk through near the wedding chapel right next door. The location also feels so private but you're only a 60 second drive from town and the interstate to downtown Indianapolis. It's so apparent a lot of time and effort went into making this place feel special. We were so overwhelmed by all of the charm and can't wait to plan our next visit! You won't be disappointed!

This is a log cabin, inside and out. It has hardwood floors and everyone that visits really love the feel and look of the cabin. I have an outdoor cat that tries to sneak in all the time :). I am an artist and devoted my entire living room into an art studio and gallery for shows. The living room is now the long, enclosed back porch that faces the river, where you can enjoy seeing deer, owls, and many types of birds. The guest room has a dresser, nightstand, closet and a comfy full-size bed. The bed has a body pillow and 2 extra bed pillows. Your bath is located right outside the door and is shared by 1 person, but cleaned often :), and on your schedule. (There is an extra half bath that I use.) Smoking is not allowed inside the house. The property is surrounded by farm fields and is backed by a large river, depending on the season. It is very quiet, but not secluded. Traveling is very convenient. People wave to each other on my road. It's special.

  • A very nice and scenic location. I enjoyed the rural location with all the natural and neighborhood sounds. Wonderful shared space that met all my needs during my stay.

  • Rebecca's cabin home is a wonderful place to stay. The location is quiet and secluded, which I loved. Rebecca is super nice and available whenever you need her. I was able to have conversations with Rebecca and watch television with her at night. Rebecca also allowed me to have my alone time when needed. The bed was very comfortable to sleep in. I highly suggest this home for anyone looking for a place to stay short term or long term. I will be staying with Rebecca for three other weeks this summer. Overall great place and host!

    Robert2017-05-26T00:00:00Z
  • Peaceful. Peaceful would define my experience at Becky's cabin. There is an enclosed porch that overlooks a large woodsy area in the back as well as creek in the distance.. I sighted plenty of squirrels, and later in the evening, heard an owl.. the home itself looks like the home of an artist. Very quaint, wonderful earthtones, hardwood floors, log beams an antique stove... The home is quite welcoming - very clean and cozy.. the bed was wonderful, the bedroom was furnished with a heater that I could control - I slept very sound - which surprised me for not being in my own bed!! It's a little piece of heaven.. The town has an old bookstore, coffee shop and yarn store all on the circle.. as well as a few simple parks. Becky is a darling host, very accommodating and friendly.. she'd make a good gal pal.

    Pats2017-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • This really IS a log cabin 10 minutes from Shelbyville downtown public square and 5 minutes from I-74. Rebecca is a delightful host and really goes out of her way to make you feel at home. She gave me free rein in a well stocked kitchen to whip up my elaborate meals at night after long days of work. The bedroom was quite comfortable and I slept far better than I ever did at local hotels. Don't expect to do heavy duty work online due to the lack of wifi and spotty phone reception. But you may be able to create your own hotspot and go from there. But honestly, as somebody who is 'plugged in' most of the time, it was somewhat refreshing to be offline for a few hours each evening. I am sure that is what contributed to what was a very stress free week in terms of accommodations. The location of this AirBnb and Rebecca's grace and care combine as a real winning combination. I wholeheartedly recommend staying here if business or pleasure brings you to Shelbyville.

  • Am fortunate to have the opportunity to stay at Rebecca's place, a beautiful environment. The instructions on the use of the house were clear and concise. Rebecca is a great host and appreciate her hospitality. I highly recommend.

  • My stay at Rebecca's quaint log cabin was quite pleasant. I had unusual arrival time requirements and she politely accommodated these unquestionably . A true bed and breakfast type setting, breakfast was offered, though unfortunately, I had to decline. My privacy was respected although when I did visit with Rebecca at check in, I found her pleasant and helpful. The room and the private bathroom were impeccably clean. The ever so friendly dog Hanna even accompanied me on a walk during my stay. I will definitely stay here again while in Shelbyville.

Be a part of history in the (re-)making as you settle into this calming loft in historic Pendleton on the Falls. Stocked with amenities for the business travelers or small town explorers, this room is the first of several that our family is giving a second life after rescuing the gorgeous Victorian Wisteria House (ca. 1888) from demolition. Enjoy our gardens, antiques, and parking, shops and restaurants a few blocks away and 20 minute drive to downtown Indianapolis.
After over a year of renovations, we are excited to welcome you to our home that we plan to eventually fully restore to its former status as one of the preeminent historical homes in Pendleton. As one of our earliest guests, your stay contributes to this ongoing project--and we're so excited to welcome those who want to see and leave their mark on the Wisteria House! The renovation is incremental so that it won't disturb guests or neighbors. That said, please be patient with us as we work on the on the foyer and porch, as well as the back porch and decking. Historical restorations are a time consuming process. As with any renovation, it's possible that not everything in the common areas will be perfectly perfect but the guest room is -- and so will be your stay at the Wisteria House.
We are two blocks from Pendleton's main street. There are a handful of restaurants/bars in town, as well as an ice creamery, a coffee shop or two, and a few antique / boutique shops. If you like the outdoors and history, we have a little of both. The community pool is walkable from the house and a ton of family fun in the summertime. The falls at Fall Creek (also a short stroll) are gorgeous at any time of year. The surrounding park area has a number of walking/running trails, as well. The park features several historical markers that describe interesting historical events throughout the town's founding and development.

  • Had a fabulous time staying here. The house alone is worth the visit, especially if you're a sucker for Victorian style homes. Perfect place if you're an animal lover because the three kitties and dog are sweet as can be! I could go on and on about everything that was wonderful about this place but last but most definitely not least is the host. Mackey is an absolute delight and made sure we had everything we needed and was a pleasure to sit and talk to about numerous different subjects. She treated us like family and not just strangers staying in her home. If you are looking for a place to stay don't hesitate to go with here, you won't be disappointed!

  • From the moment I arrived to the moment I left, this place was perfect. Host met me on the porch when I arrived and continued my great experience until the day I left. Their beautiful home was opened up to me and my son and there is nothing I could add or change. Could walk to downtown and some excellent restaurants. Neighborhood very quiet and peaceful. Highly recommend.

  • If anyone is looking for an authentic experience in the midwest with some of the loveliest friendliest intellectual people I have had the pleasure of meeting then please do treat yourself to a weekend here. I felt like I was staying at a long lost friend/ aunt and uncle's home! They are repairing the home from scratch and keeping the architectural integrity of the place intact. IF you want a hotel experience, then please go to a hotel, but if you want to actually learn and live with friendly genuine people who you can learn a lot from if you chose to engage, then please do check it out. : )

    Sally2017-06-19T00:00:00Z
  • What a charming place to stay! The neighborhood was great, with some very nice restaurants and walkable neighborhood (with brick streets!). The loft was perfect, decorated beautifully and kept cool (with AC) during an unseasonably hot 3 days. The bed was comfortable and it was nice having our own bathroom. Staying with Mackey and Ron felt like we were staying at a friend's house. We got up early each morning and she left us banana bread, bagels and cookies and had coffee ready at the touch of a button. On the morning we left, she made us pancakes and she and Ron spent time chatting with us! A real pleasant stay! If we are in the area again, we would definitely stay again. In fact, we may have to make a point of it to see what renovations they have completed on their beautiful Victorian house.

    Wendy2017-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • I had a wonderful stay. Mackey is a generous, courtest, kind host. Loved the homemade breakfasts. The loft was clean and comfortable. Her pets are wonderful. Loved walking around the neighborhood and enjoyed the local resturants and shops. I felt like I was staying at my best friend's house.

  • Jeff & Dawn were very welcoming, friendly, and available without being intrusive - excellent hosts. We had a wonderful, restful time in this roomy, cozy country-style home located in a quaint small town. We enjoyed exploring nearby Falls Park with our grandsons (6 & 7 years old).

  • Jeff & Dawn are awesome. The house was immaculate and was plenty of room for a family of 5. The hosts live next door and were most helpful, giving us travel tips while we visited. The neighborhood was darling in a National Historic town and it is within walking distance to many shops, restaurants & a coffee house. We felt at home the whole time, which was great. We fell in love with Pendleton, which is very close to the Klipsch Music Center. It is convenient to Indianapolis, shopping and much more. We will return and will stay in the house again. I highly recommend this stay.

  • This place is perfect! Cute house, awesome huge yard, fenced in, great for little kids to run free in. Our hosts were wonderful and the little town just 2 min away is charming. Almost a Stars Hollow from Gilmore Girls. Worth every penny.

  • Thank you! Your place was perfect for our visit with the grandchildren!

  • Great place! We didn't spend a lot of time there, as we decided to spend as much time at the convention as possible, but really nice! Would stay there again! Jeff & Dawn were very good about helping us check in late. Only complaint was that it was closer to 45min to an hour to the convention center, but that may have been due to all the construction around.

  • Jeff and Dawn made us feel very welcome from the first day. My Wife, daughter, and I had an extended stay of almost 2 months and we enjoyed the people and the small, historic town of Pendleton. It was a short walk to downtown and Falls Park where our daughter enjoyed the playground and especially Quack Daddy Donuts. Very Tasty! Be sure to stop in at Sugar Creek Books and say Hi to the resident bunny "Sugar". If you want to see the Big City of Indy, you're only about 30-40 minutes away.

    Bradley2016-08-01T00:00:00Z
  • The house is cute and a good size for a family. The neighborhood was really nice, and Pendleton itself is a charming town. Jeff and Dawn were very accommodating. We had some issues with the rental car that made us later than expected and they were very flexible with the later check-in. They did everything possible to make our stay comfortable and easy.

  • Excellent hosts! Had all the amenities of a hotel but in the comfort of a beautiful home. Located in a town just blocks from its downtown and a short trip to Indianapolis, it was a excellent choice.

  • I can't say enough about how great our experience was at this place!! Danielle was super accommodating to a lot of our last minute changes and requests. The house was very nice and clean, had everything we needed and the beds were very comfortable. The location was fantastic for us being close to the interstate as we flew in from Indy for Ironman Muncie 70.3. We would definitely stay here again!

Be a part of history in the (re-)making as you settle into this relaxing bedroom in historic Pendleton on the Falls. Stocked with amenities for the business travelers or small town explorers, this room is one of several rooms in this home that our family is giving a second life after rescuing the gorgeous Victorian Wisteria House (ca. 1888) from demolition. Enjoy our gardens, antiques, and parking, shops and restaurants a few blocks away and 20 minute drive to downtown Indianapolis.
After over a year of renovations, we are excited to welcome you to our home that we plan to eventually fully restore to its former status as one of the preeminent homes in historic Pendleton.
