“Local to its core, Luke’s Kitchen has a relaxed surf vibe along with great food, live music, astonishingly good service & is extremely popular with locals and visitors. A 5 minute drive from Matarangi, Luke’s Kitchen is situated in the laid back village of Kuaotunu; Luke’s is a rustic seaside restaurant with an adjacent café & art gallery creating a hub for locals, tourists and families. Luke’s is a space that has a traditional woodfired pizza oven at its heart, combining good honest food & a terrific array of local craft beers. If pizza doesn’t take your fancy, they have plenty of seafood choices, salads & revolving specials. The café uses local organic coffee, daily homemade cabinet food & baked goods for sale. Luke’s Kitchen regularly host live music for all to enjoy & offer a view that sums up the beauty of the Coromandel. Sit back, relax and relish a true kiwi experience. ”

Beach
“Beautiful undeveloped beach surrounded by dense native bush. Walk across the stream at the west end of Whangapoua Beach and follow the coast to the marked path over the headland to New Chums. The Whangapoua side is stony and can be hard going but it is totally worth it.”

“Quiet and stunning. A wonderful drive from kuaotunu (10 mins) on a windy road with spectacular views. Shady spots for a beach picnic. Lots of safe swimming for kids in the shallows. Fun swimming in big waves for the adults. Great day out - no shops take some food and drinks with you!”
