“Island on the lake where the Mexicans held off the Spanards for 4 years during the revolution. It has been a meeting place for Aztec Chiefs, a hospital and a prison. Great history here. A must visit... I would not recommend Scorpion Island, it is only restaurants...”

“This is a great place to see many people enjoying the Malecon, weather walking/strolling, taking a boat ride over to the islands, or just grabbing a bite under a covered beer garden with a view of Lake Chapala. There are many vendors there with hand clothing and Mexican souvenirs. Great destination for Mexican locals or Expats visiting. A real must see! ”

“This is one of those "hole in the wall" places that really surprise you with their food. But be careful - if it says spicy - it is. If oysters are in season, this is the place to get them. ”

Bar
“A quaint little bar/nightclub only open on select nights. Thursday through Sunday I believe. Open until about 2 or 3 am. Between 8 and 11 pm, it's a cozy atmosphere, great for hangs and cocktails. After 11, it gets pretty busy. Equipped with a dance floor and DJ, but sometimes they'll have live music. Cool place for the young crowd!”

Breakfast Spot
“This is one of the great breakfast spots in town if not the best. The ingredients are so fresh and the menu changes daily. The waffle/pancake creations are to die for including a Jasmine Rice Waffle and a Lemon/Poppy Seed Pancake. The breakfast burrito which is on the menu daily is not your typical breakfast burrito. It is light and feels like you have eaten springtime in a tortilla. ”
