Parks & nature in Lake Lure

Scenic Viewpoint
“Hiking trails with gorgeous views over Lake Lure. We pack a lunch and eat it on the terrace. Then, we hike to the waterfall and take the loop course. It is challenging at places, but exciting as well. We do avoid the steps, not good for our knees and joints... As a special event in the summertime, we cool off by stepping under the waterfall. Ice-cold water, but refreshing. Don't forget a bathing suit and something to dry you off. The entrance fee is the only drawback.”

Park
“Chimney Rock is a beautiful park to visit. It is a short drive over the mountain on Hwy. 74. This would be a day trip to combine with a visit to Lake Lure where parts of "Dirty Dancing" was filmed...... most specifically the "walking bridge scene". There are several shops and restaurants located at the foot of Chimney Rock to fill your appetite.”
