  • Stevie and Kat's place is a short distance from the Ferry Terminal and very close to two bus stops. The island is easy to explore by bus. Pubs and restaurants were close by. The house has great views of the harbor, Stevie picked us up and dropped us off at the ferry terminal. Kat made us cups of tea during the afternoon while Stevie cooked awesome breakfasts consisting of items from a full Scottish Breakfast to cereal to porridge to toast and Marmite depending on what we wanted. The Internet was quite good and Stevie and Kat provided various tourist brochures of the area. The living room has great views of the harbor with its birds and seals along with sail and power boats. The bed was excellent. We had a wonderful experience and definitely plan to come back if we are ever in the area.

  • Steve is a wonderful host, very welcoming and friendly. The house boasts amazing views from the lounge and the toilet! Steve is a great source of information for things to do around the island and really helpful if you need places pointing out. Had a great night's sleep and would recommend him to anyone. Oh and he cooks a mean bacon and eggs!

  • Stephen and Kat's lovely house is a peaceful place with a pleasant view of the sea. The room is really comfortable for two people and the hosts made us feel at home. They came to pick us up at the ferry terminal and they gave us nice recommendations to discover the isle (it's easy to travel around the isle using public transports). And close to the house, there is a nice bus where you can eat a delicious fish and chips and drink some local beer ! We definitely recommend Stephen and Kat's house !

  • Such a lovely place. Stunning views and very welcoming couple. Comfortable and homely. Breakfast was lovely and I tried some homemade blueberry and apple crumble which was delicious. I would Highly recommend.

  • This was our first airbnb visit and we had a very good experience. Our hosts Steve ('call me Masterchef') and Kat were lovely, anticipated all our needs and made us feel very welcome. The bed was very comfortable and breakfasts excellent with local produce. We had a wonderful mini-break in Arran - can recommend 'Seagate' very highly: best view out of a bathroom window EVER, complete with otter!!

  • Lovely down to earth couple make you feel at home. Super location and views. Spotless new bath was great.

  • Lovely quite place, very close to the sea. Very nice and kind people, make you feel like at home. We only regret to have been there only 2 days.

  • Perfect!!! Absolutly perfect. Stephen took us at our arrival directly from dhe harbour. The house is more than idealy located and the view is.... incredible. The village is also very nice and we spent a great moment at the pub with Stephen. Cherry on the cake... Stephen cooked us a continental breakfast. This was one of my best experience via Airbnb. i recommend.

A vegetarian/vegan B&B. Ensuite, twin room. A short walk from the holy isle ferry. Guests may sit out in the garden and enjoy a beautiful view of rolling hills in a quiet friendly atmosphere. There is a play park near the house.
Please ensure you have a copy of the directions to my house before you set off. Mobile reception is bad here so you may not be able to pick them up.
Lamlash is a pretty village about 5 minutes drive from the main ferry in Brodick. There are some nice restaurants and cafes and the wee ferry runs to holy isle from Lamlash. You can go over for a day trip or to stay overnight by arrangement. There are some good walks in the hills and along the coast.
  • This is a great location for starting your bike ride with a great climb up the Ross Road on the doorstep. David made us feel very welcome and nothing was too much trouble. A great place to stay. Comfy beds and a good breakfast

  • Alice's place was great, perfect for my sister and I who spent a couple days on Aaron, which is beautiful. Alice and David were lovely and the place and breakfast were great. Would recommend.

  • Had a lovely time at Alice's, great place in a great location. Would recommend!

    Sophie2017-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • Alice's place is so sweet and homely. I felt instantly welcome and had a very comfortable stay. She has thought of everything you could need (slippers, blankets, tea making stuff, chocolate biscuits etc!) and the room is cosy but spacious. Unfortunately I didn't get to meet Alice herself but David was very friendly, cooked me lovely breakfasts and we had interesting chats about Arran. He even lent me a map for my hikes. A lovely place to stay. Thank you!

    Victoria2017-08-22T00:00:00Z
  • We had a short but very nice stay at Alice's. She met us and showed us around the accommodations which were basic but clean and comfortable. She made us a delicious breakfast and ate with us to chat about the Island. Would stay here again- recommended!

    Amy2016-09-28T00:00:00Z
  • Very awesome place, clean and good communication by Alice.

    Chad2017-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • Alice has a lovely place and a kind hospitality to match it. We had a great time and felt very welcome and at ease over there.

  • Alice's is clean, comfortable, cosy, relaxed and friendly. Alice is a very kind and helpful host. She went out of her way to make sure my arrival was as smooth as possible. I had a wonderful time - it felt more like staying at a friend's place than at a B&B. Thank you Alice - I hope to see you again.

Our one bedroom detached cottage is 250 years old and was fully renovated in 2014 to a very high standard to highlight the beautiful seaside cottage's charms with a contemporary twist. The cottage has a peaceful tranquility, seaside location and stunning views over Lamlash Bay.
The Byre cottage is a place to relax and chill, to use as a base to go walking, cycling, play golf on one of the many golf courses on the island, travel round the island or just relax by the wood burning stove reading a book or stare out at the bay watching out for the otters and the beautiful sunsets. The cottage has a fully equipped kitchen with a washing machine, cooker, microwave, fridge freezer and a dishwasher. The bathroom has a power shower and a bath for long soaks. Towels are provided. The living room has a large corner sofa, dining table and chairs. A wood burning stove. The bedroom has a king size bed with fresh linen provided. The cottage does not have a T.V. We have full broadband/wifi. The cottage has electric central heating throughout.
The cottage is located on the seafront of Lamlash Bay in a very quiet neighbourhood. The cottage has its own private gardens and private off road parking.
  • This was a perfect place for hubby and I to stay in for a few days. The place is well equipped and near to a couple of pubs and restaurants as well as a well stocked local Co-Op. The Pier Head Tavern is one of the only pubs to stock Arran Sunset and Black IPA which we made the most of!

    Joanna2017-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic stay at the Byre, such a beautiful little cottage and run by a gentleman.

    Alistair2017-03-23T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful cottage with THE most comfortable bed ever. The weather was amazing and we spent a lot of time in the garden and walking locally. It's gorgeous and has everything you want in a holiday cottage. A perfect weekend retreat.

  • A perfect cottage in a perfect location. Seals on our doorstep and fantastic views of Holy Island. This is an ideal getaway.

  • Very good communications...mentioned I was doing some trips to the hills and was a book on local walks on the cofee table when I got in which was a nice touch. Cottage is lovely and perfect for a single travaller and/or couple.

  • Lovely place in a great location. A great use of the space which made the accommodation much more roomy than expected and there's no doubt it was cosy and idilic. Tommy is a great host, very helpful and with great comms.

    Helen2017-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • Cottage is lovely. The bed was honestly like a cloud, comfy and great. It was difficult to say goodbye to. The view of the holy isle when sitting on the wee bench outside having your morning coffee is my new happy place! Perfect place for a relaxing retreat! Would definitely hurry back.

  • No space left in the huts when we booked so we were given a great double room with a very beautiful view in the main building. Wifi wasn't the best nor was the reception (I found reception was hard to get anywhere in Lamlash). Other than this it was a nice stay. Good value for money.

    Chantal2017-05-07T00:00:00Z
  • Iain was pleasant and helpful and meet us on arrival. We were surprised there was a note asking us to strip the sheet, etc from the bed before checking out. Surely that is part of what we pay for?

    Alastair2017-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect spot to visit Isle of Arran if you're on a budget. We had a single room and a double room booked and both rooms were perfect for what we were looking for. It's pretty much setup like a hotel room. It's a bed, tv, bathroom, and thankfully for those cold Scottish mornings, there's also a heater in every room. There's a shared kitchen which we used during out stay and it had all the basic stuff that you need to make meals. The staff is really friendly and helpful and even drove us to Brodrick to make our ferry Sunday morning. Had a great stay here

    Lenny2017-07-30T00:00:00Z
  • The setting is gorgeous. Best to have a car to get there. Very basic rooms in the sleep huts

  • Arran Sleep Huts were perfect for our weekend on Arran hillwalking and cycling. They were clean, quiet, had a good bed, some storage and crucially a good hot shower. An added bonus was the cookhouse so we could store some food and make breakfast each morning. Location was ideal for us - at the far end of Lamlash bay.

Our bungalow is in a quiet cul d sac 3 minutes from the coast, and besides the golf course, and countryside. Ideal for crossing to Holy isle or doing the Arran Coastal way. I have a single room and a double room available. Breakfast is simple continental, but I can cook a full Scottish breakfast or muffins with scrambled egg and smoked salmon by arrangement.
Our home is a bright and airy bungalow, with views across to Holy Isle and to the hills of Arran. Your room will be either our guest double or single bedroom, with access to the guest bathroom. I can take a party of 1, 2 or 3. Our home has been fully redecorated and updated in the last year. I'm happy to store your bike or you can use our garage to dry out walking gear etc.
  • Many thanks to Hilary and Ian, they were the perfect hosts and their home lovely. The Lamlash bay area is beautiful as are the surrounding areas, well worth a visit!

    Jack2017-08-21T00:00:00Z
  • Hilary is the most perfect host. She was so welcoming and could not have done more to make us feel comfortable. The house and garden are beautiful and it is in the loveliest location just five minutes stroll into Lamlash. Really nice touches like tea/coffee making facilities in the rooms and toiletries in the bathroom. She even made some energy giving flapjack for my husband who was competing in the Arran Man triathlon. We hope to return soon!

    Katy2015-06-16T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely place, close to all facilities, in a nice and quiet neighborhood. Our double bedroom was very clean, comfortable and nicely furnished. Hilary was very friendly and thoughtful, and gave us some great advice on which hike we should take considering the little time we had on Arran. You absolutely have to taste Hilary's Scottish breakfast if you get the chance to, it's memorable ! Thanks again from us both !

    Julie2016-05-08T00:00:00Z
  • We had an excellent stay with Hilary on Arran. She has a beautiful house with lovely and spacious double room and an excellent shower! We booked last minute and Hilary was very accommodating for us. She even drove us back in Brodick for a celebratory meal at The Fiddlers, which we would thoroughly recommend. Hilary has an excellent knowledge of the island too. I'm sure we'll be visiting Arran again and we'll be sure to stay with Hilary.

    Matt2015-07-25T00:00:00Z
  • Hilary's place is as advertised -- very nice, and in a great location -- and the hosts (dog included) were extremely friendly. The full Scottish breakfast was delicious too! Perhaps would have been nice to know ahead of time that the guest room is literally right next to the hosts' room in their home...but no big deal!

    Jennifer2015-10-19T00:00:00Z
  • Great location, only 5ish minutes walk to the center of Lamlash with pubs and places to eat. Hilary was very helpful during my stay and couldn't have done more. The house was clean and tidy, would recommend++

    Alex2016-02-06T00:00:00Z
  • Hilary and Ian were super hosts. The room was as shown in the photos and we had our own private bathroom. The continential breakfast was ample and the fruit salad was lovely. Hilary was helpful with telling us where to eat and what to do on the island. Meg the dog is very friendly and well behaved. We would recommend staying here and would do so again.

The house is central in the village, opposite the green and the beach and close to pubs, restaurants, cafes, supermarket, newsagent. My home is comfortable - good for couples and families.
Lovely, large three bedroom house with garden and amazing views over Lamlash bay to Holy Isle. You will be very comfortable here. Large living room with real fire and sea view, large dining room with same view. Large traditional cottage kitchen with Welsh dresser, Belfast sink, Rayburn stove and gas cooker, leading to courtyard and pretty sloping garden. Upstairs one twin bedroom with en-suite shower room and sea view, double bedroom with sea view and a single bedroom looking towards back garden. Extra single bed can be added. All linen and towels provided. Very comfortable home. Great location on Shore Road, a few minutes walk to local pubs, co-op supermarket, cafe, Holy Isle ferry and bus stop. Car park across the road.
  • Just back from a wonderful stay in Sherie's home which really does have everything you could possibly need whatever the weather. The location is perfect, right in the middle of Lamlash, with all the restaurants, bars and shops only a few minutes walk away and the beach just across the road. I am an early riser and watching the sunrise from the sitting room and bedroom windows was a real highlight, as was having a real fire in the evenings. The back garden is steeply sloping but the climb to the top is so worth it as the views across Lamlash Bay and over to the Holy Isle are spectacular. Sherie's chickens live right at the top of the garden and graced us with 2 delicious eggs while we were there. The garden and the parking space is shared with the people staying in the adjoining cottage so a few times we had to park across the road in a nearby free car park, but it really wasn't a problem.

  • We loved our stay on Arran, party due to the comfort of Ivybank. The Raeburn and woodburner were great! Everything was very good. Perhaps the matrasses could be more comfortable. We were Lucky with the weather, mostly dry and even sunshine. The view from Ivybank is unbelievable! We had regular contact with Sherie, through mail and by phone. If we would have had a problem, we think Sherie would try to help us out!

    Joop2017-01-06T00:00:00Z
  • Sherie provided helpful information regarding arrangements for our visit and access to keys. Ivybank is a comfortable home to stay in. Lamlash is a great location with wonderful views of Holy Island from the property.

    Julia2016-09-19T00:00:00Z
  • Ivybank was a real treat. We had the place to ourselves. The house itself has everything you need. We really did relax straight into our holiday with ease. Sherie's attention to detail helped a lot - she left us lots of useful information and made sure we knew where everything was. The kitchen had everything we needed and was very warm and welcoming. Overlooks a beautiful courtyard and garden. The lounge was comfortable and had plenty of space for relaxing. The facilities were superb. The icing on the cake was the spectacular views. All the front rooms has great views of the sea and look out over to Holy Isle. Time went by quickly just appreciating this view. The location was ideal too - near the Co-op, bakery, bars and restaurants. Overall, it was an ideal base for our regular trip to Arran. Sherie and Andy were perfect hosts - they called to make sure we were okay and organised for a neighbour to pop in to check we had everything we needed. Highly recommend and hope to visit again next year.

    Michael2016-10-29T00:00:00Z
  • Gorgeous house - very warm and welcoming. We loved coming back to it after a day out. The location is great, with views out to Holy Island, but in the heart of Lamlash, with restaurants and shops and the sea all moments away. Since its Sherie and Andrew's house and B and B most of the year, it is fantastically well equipped and homely. It was our first time on Arran. Our 8 and 10 year olds loved it - Lamlash is a great place to be based for the whole of Arran - Best bits for us were visiting Holy Island, Goat Fell, Machrie Moor, gorge walking with the Lochranza Centre, a ceilidh at Lochranza Village Hall, flying birds of prey on the Mogabout tour, and jumping off the pier (bring your wetsuits!) ...and the chickens of course! We felt very welcomed and miss the place already! Thank you Sherie and Andrew - we will be back x

    Louise2017-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • We (two couples) rented the entire house which was very comfortable, a lovely setting on the seafront. Everything we needed was provided, we felt so at home. The location is perfect with very good eating places a few steps away. Sherie is a very thoughtful host.

    Stephen2017-06-09T00:00:00Z
  • This is a fantastic house to stay in Lamlash - just 10 mins drive from the ferry but still quiet, with just the right amount of restaurants, shops and things to do without being too noisy or busy. The location of the house is perfect - we loved the views from the dining table or when sitting in the front garden with a beer - an amazing view of the sea and Holy Island. And everything within reach - the pharmacy for midge spray, the restaurants and the supermarket. We especially loved how homely the house is - the lounge is lovely and relaxing and the kitchen well equipped. The children loved the garden, the chickens, the playground and the beach. A fantastic home away from home.

  • Alfie (my dog) and I very much enjoyed our stay at the Arran sleep huts. Something different.

    Louise2017-09-30T00:00:00Z
  • Great value for money, considering some of the Arran's campsites would charge the same rate for a camping hut! Fab setting with beautiful gardens and it was lovely being able to hear the birds chirping away. Being dog friendly was my main reason for choosing to stay there, but it was an overall fantastic experience.

New to airBnB our recently renovated cottage is a cosy, deceptively spacious home from home. The house is nestled in the south end of Lamlash with stunning views overlooking Glenkiln and the Monamore Glen. Non-smokers only. No pets.
The cottage is a lovely home for a stay on the island especially if you're looking for an escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Hide away from the cares of the world in a comfy space, with stunning mountain views across Glenkiln and the Monamore Glen. Very private and affordable. Layout When you walk in you will find a porch and hallway. A small staircase takes you up to the two cosy bedrooms. One has a double bed the other has two single beds. These rooms are built in the roof of the cottage and have camceil (sloping) ceilings, Velux Windows and the larger bedroom also has a gable end tilt and spin window with views looking over to Monamore Glen. Back downstairs and on your right as you enter there is a downstairs bedroom with a comfy day bed, that pulls out to a queen should you require a larger bed. At the end of the corridor on the left you enter the spacious open plan living area. There are two sofas, a 42 inch TV and a cafe style table and four chairs in the corner of the room. The bathroom in this house is downstairs and is situated off the living room area which has a spacious shower only facility. (**please note there is no bath**). The kitchen is stocked for all your basic needs and requirements and comes with an electric hob and oven, a microwave oven, a fridge freezer, dishwasher, washing machine and hot and cold running water. Standing at the Belfast sink you will look out to the garden and hills beyond. The dining area has a large farmhouse table and six chairs. There are patio doors that open out to the garden and those stunning views of the Monamore Glen. The garden has two benches and a picnic bench and whirlie gig for drying laundry. ***Due to the pre-existing style and nature of the original early 1900s design of the cottage, we feel it is NOT suitable for those with any mobility issues and unfortunately it is also not wheelchair friendly. **** We do not supply bath towels. ***** We do not accept pets under any circumstances.
Lamlash is the largest village by population on the Isle of Arran, in the Firth of Clyde, Scotland. It lies 4 miles to the south of ferry port Brodick, in a sheltered bay on the island's east coast, facing Holy Isle. There's a local Co-op food store, chemist, newsagent. Post office, garage, pubs and restaurants. It's a very quiet and safe community.
  • Excellent stay in Arran. Grant was very accommadating and answered any questions we had. The cottage is excellent. It has everything you could possibly want and feels like home as soon as you arrive. We hope to be back some day and would not hesitate in recommending this cottage. Lamlash is a great location to stay when exploring Arran

  • The cottage was really lovely and exactly as shown in photographs. The view from the back garden was fantastic and we were lucky enough with the weather to sit out with breakfast / BBQs etc. The hosts were great and the only issue we had was a problem with the TV and they came the very next day with a brand new telly! Great holiday thank you.

  • We very much enjoyed our stay in Lamlash. The view from the kitchen lounge area was spectacular and we very much enjoyed the proximity to Lamlash with its shops, restaurants and beaches. The property was very clean and comfortable. Grant's attention to detail was excellent. Grant communicated with us well by text and email.

Attractive sandstone house in the centre of Lamlash on the seafront. Lovely views from bedrooms. Bus-stop nearby. Close to all amenities, pubs, tea-rooms; kayaks can be launched in front of the house, cycles can be stored. Maps and walking directions available. Drying. Ferry to Holy Isle leaves from nearby pier. Rear garden rises up behind the house with a great view from the top. Own hens providing eggs for breakfast. Friendly welcome.
We are in a unique location with a splendid view over Lamlash Bay to Holy Isle and we are near to the village amenities. You can launch your kayak beside the house or board the ferry to visit Holy Isle. We will give you a tasty breakfast to send you on your way
We love the beauty of the island, the sealife and the birds and we feel lucky to have red squirrels visiting our back garden. With its rugged mountains and many and varied beaches, woods, moors, glens and waterfalls, we truly believe Arran is Scotland in miniature.
  • It was an absolute pleasure staying at Ivybank. Definitely one of the stand out B&Bs we stayed at on the island and Sherie & Andy were hugely accommodating and down to earth. We spent our first night there and ate supper at the Drift Inn down the road which does a brilliant steak and house wine deal! Really good food. Breakfast at Ivybank was delicious too (lots of choice as well). Would love to go back and stay there again. Really felt like so much thought had gone into all the details. Really recommend it!

    Charlotte2015-05-02T00:00:00Z
  • Sherie and Andy are so nice! They are wise, friendly, and know how to live a contented life. The room I stayed is lovely with cozy beds and has excellent view of the Holy Isle and the Firth. Sherie and Andy also have a wonderful garden behind the house, there are spirited plants, apple trees, hens, benches and even swing in the garden. Andy makes the most delicious English breakfast I have ever had. What's more, it was my birthday one day during my stay, they baked me a really tasty yummy chocolate cake. As for the trip on Arran, the transport is convenient with buses, and Andy lent me a bicycle for short-distance ride. The views and scenes on Arran are superb creation of nature. Sherie and Andy have an amazing house, come here, face the sea and you will feel the spring coming and flowers blooming.

  • I had a lovely time at Ivybank - Sherie and Andrew are great hosts and I also enjoyed the company of their dog Baxter! Breakfast was consistently delicious and the shared bathroom was beautiful and spacious - I particularly enjoyed the gigantic bathtub. Overall had a great stay, thanks!!

    Jasmine2016-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • Ivybank B & B, run by the delightful and capable Sherie & Andrew, assisted by their inscrutable dog, Baxter, was one of the highlights of our travels through England, Wales & Scotland! Arran is an amazing, beautiful, place, filled with an abundance to do and see; our only regret is not staying longer. Our time was enhanced by their great advice, ready maps & directions; we even stole Baxter for a long walk along the costal path - breathtaking, even if we did manage to take the wrong turn! These gracious hosts even put up with my ailing husband as he wound his way through a bad cold. So accommodating! It is also ideally situated, with amenities and bus routes just down the way! The view was magnificent! Have I forgotten to mention Sherie's cooking?! Delicious! Love their down-to-Earth, no nonsense manner - so welcoming and unpretentious! Really, can't say enough about what a comfortable, relaxing stay we had; We highly recommend staying at Ivybank! We miss them already! Hope to be back! Will be sending friends and family!

    Monique2014-07-04T00:00:00Z
  • Just returned from a brilliant 3 nights in arran. Sherie and Andrew were fantastic hosts full of local knowledge and we felt very much at home. The location was brilliant with stunning views over to the holy Isle and there was a great selection of pubs in easy walking distance. Very good breakfast with freshly laid egg!

    Catherine2016-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • We weremade to feel very welcome, lovely sea view room en suite and well located and we'd visit again like a shot!

    Hugh2015-08-15T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay in Sherie and Andy's lovely seafront house. We had the twin room at the front, overlooking Holy Island: I loved waking up early and seeing the sun rise over the water. It has an en suite, but there is a curtain, no door, separating it from the bedroom (we weren't too bothered but I can see how some might). Andy immediately made us feel at home, inviting us to help ourselves to fresh milk, and introducing us to their dog, Baxter. There is a lovely, steep garden out the back, which includes a chairlift and a bench, where you can sit and read a paper and watch the tide go in and out. We also borrowed their kayaks and had a paddle in the bay. We either cycled or got the bus and had no problems reaching Ivy Bank from the ferry terminal.

    Helen2014-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay at Ivybank B&B. Andy and Sherie were such great hosts, relaxed, attentive and helpful at the same time, making us feel very much at home. Our room was really nice with a great view to the sea and Holy Island. The shared bathroom was nice and clean. There was a cosy, little garden, very delicious breakfast... and all in all, Ivybank B&B and Lamlash are great starting points for exploring Arran. Bus stops and lunch/dinner/café-opportunities are just around the corner. Definitely a place, where we would stay again.

  • This is a lovely place to stay. I really enjoyed my 2 night stay with Hilary. The b and b is nice and Hilary herself is kind and welcoming and makes you feel at home. She also provides excellent advice on places to go/eat and even managed to tell me exactly where I would be able to see red deer in Lochranza.

    Angela2015-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • Hilary was so sweet, and their place is very convenient to the village of Lamlash. She offered breakfast, and was very helpful. I loved the Led Zeppelin/ British mod-themed single room. Highly recommend!

    Jessica2017-07-17T00:00:00Z
  • Hilary is lovely and will look after you well.

    Stewart2017-08-03T00:00:00Z
  • Hilary and Ian's home is lovely and you feel part of the furniture straight away. The room is clean and comfortable with everything you need. Hilary's Scottish breakfast is a must and a bargain at just £5! The house is walkable straight into Lamlash where there's plenty to do, and loads of walks on the doorstep. I had a fab stay!

    Amy2017-08-06T00:00:00Z
  • Loved the way Hilary was so relaxed and I felt at home as soon as I arrived. No set time for breakfast which I loved. Come and go as you please. She has a gorgeous King Charles spaniel - very friendly! Would certainly recommend staying in Lamlash - great places to eat or just have a coffee. Happy times!

    Kathleen2017-06-23T00:00:00Z
  • Hilary and Ian were great conversation and exceptionally personable, in addition the accommodation was delightful and the location equally so.

    Shaun2017-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • Warm reception, comfortable bedroom in tastefully decorated home and garden. Hosts extended themselves to insure a pleasant stay.

    John 2016-06-06T00:00:00Z
  • Great, quiet location, easy to find and within walking distance down to the waterfront (pubs, shops etc). Easily my favourite village on the island. Hilary and her husband were gracious and respectful, providing me with both privacy and conversation. Large single room with a decent single bed (I stayed in single room), lovely clean bathroom and good hot water. Hilary has an eye for detail and my stay with her was effortless. I had a car and parking was easy, though I understand there is a local bus nearby as well. On recommendation I managed to catch an evening of music at a local pub which I thoroughly enjoyed!

**PLEASE NOTE FROM APRIL TO SEPTEMBER MINIMUM BOOKING IS 7 NIGHTS FRIDAY TO FRIDAY. FROM OCTOBER TILL MARCH MINIMUM BOOKING IS 3 NIGHTS FROM A FRIDAY** This idyllic 300 year old cottage on Arran is the ideal island getaway. Nestled under a turf roof and oak beams, the modern open plan interior is comfortable and practical!
Rose Cottage is believed to have been built in the 18th century as a "Long House" typical of that time, built on falling ground with a sloping roof ridge. We have gone to considerable care to renovate the cottage incorporating green-oak framed trusses which support the turfed roof. Internally the cottage has been finished sensitively, combined with modern levels of comfort and amenity. This is a unique property offering a memorable holiday experience with south facing aspect in a rural location. The entire ground floor is finished with slate flagstone tiles with underfloor heating and a stable door. Steps lead up to open plan lounge area with an open fire set into the natural stone wall. There is a French door to the rear patio and steps lead up to the kitchen. The kitchen sits at a higher level and is equipped with integrated dishwasher, fridge, freezer, washing machine and gas hob with electric oven. The cottage offers romantic accommodation for couples and well behaved dogs!
Rose cottage is the oldest dwelling in the hamlet of Auchencairn close to one of the island's bigger settlements, Whiting bay, where there are several shops, cafes. Described by many as ʻScotland in Miniatureʼ, Arran truly is the best of Scotland compressed into an island 20 miles long and 10 miles wide. As well as stunning landscapes you will also find pretty villages, ancient castles, prehistoric standing stones and a richness of crafts, food, drink, history and culture.
  • Amazing! We especially enjoyed the authentic feel of the place, although it was full of modern aspects such as underfloor heating that made our stay very comfortable. Beautiful scenery and lovely friendly village not too far. Matthew and Stina have went one step further into making this an idyllic little getaway!

    Stina2014-11-25T00:00:00Z
  • Didn't meet may himself. Matt has left great directions in his email and we were thrilled to arrive to the fire made up ready to go and a couple of local beers on the table! The cottage may be old but the appliances were modern and the under floor heating was great. Gorgeous cottage and superb views of the stars at night. We loved or stay and would definitely recommend it!

    Kirstin2015-03-23T00:00:00Z
  • As other guests, we didn´t meet Matt personally but since we knew that we werent surprised and the cottage was exactly like on the pictures. Simply a dream. Very good equipped kitchen, fireplace and a cosy double bed. Perfect for a romantic hideout on Arran :).

    Leon2015-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful cottage full of charm and a well thought out conversion. Everything you need for a comfortable stay. Highly recommended and well worth booking.

    Anne2015-03-26T00:00:00Z
  • Rose cottage was charming. We wondered if it might be cold but in fact it was extremely warm . The underfloor heating is very efficient and there was plenty of hot water. It was in a good position and easy to find. Arran is a beautiful island so I'm sure we will be back.

    Susan2015-11-04T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed unwinding from it all at Rose Cottage. Mathew was quick and helpful to communicate with which made the whole stay simple. Whiting Bay was a pleasant walk for supper when we didn't cooking. Coast was fab food. Felicity's a welcome cold beer!

    Eve2016-04-25T00:00:00Z
  • We loved staying at Rose Cottage. Matthew was great, communication was good providing plenty of information. The cottage was a good size and well equipped and even with 2 children we had plenty of room. It was lovely and warm even with the weather being cold and wet. Despite there being no traditional pub in Whiting Bay any longer we enjoyed a cracking night at Felicity's bar with burger and a pint and a quiz for £10, suitable for kids too. On other evenings we ventured into Brodick, taking the bus there and back so we could have a drink and with the return bus stop right at the bottom of the road, it was a short hike up the hill back to the cottage. (Tip: if a family ask for a group day pass on the bus as it's cheaper than a return). Lovely (though wet) walks, a swim at Auchrannie and a tour of the distillery filled our days as well as spreading out in front of the fire at Rose Cottage to play games, do jigsaws and drink hot chocolate. All in all a fantastic long weekend break, thanks very much.

    Susan2016-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • Both myself and my partner thoroughly enjoyed our time at Rose Cottage. We received a welcome letter and bottles of Arran Blonde, which was a lovely surprise to enjoy by the fire on the first night. Excellent facilities within kitchen for cooking 3 nights in total. Fireplace was lovely to cosy up to after a long day exploring the hills of Arran, recommend climbing Goatfell if weather permits. We had to purchase more firewood for the long weekend, but local shops have this in stock no problem. We enjoyed use of board games and card games left within the cottage on the wetter nights and the dvd player was a nice extra. I would recommend to anyone thinking of booking Roase Cottage to BOOK, you will not regret this, fantastic wee gem hidden in Arran. Neighbours to the cottage lovely and welcoming too - with some good tips on spotting red squirrels around the premises. If you have time visit the Fiddlers Bar in Brodick for some food and live music - cottage right beside a bus stop (at the end of the road) which will take you there no bother. Thank you Matthew for such an enjoyable stay. We will be back.

  • I had an awesome time staying with Jackie in Arran. The location in Whiting Bay is stunning, with beach, local shop, bar and bus stop all in short walking distance. The room is just as described and Jackie is a lovely host, friendly, laid back and fun! I particularly loved her two little dogs, who came to say hello every morning. Would definitely stay again.

    Rosalie2017-08-06T00:00:00Z
  • Had a good time at Jacki's. The house was in a good location near the beach and several good walking routes, super clean, and as described. Jacki was very hospitable. She truly has a 'mi casa es tu casa' attitude and took the time to discuss and show me Arran's culture and lifestyle.

    Nick2017-10-04T00:00:00Z
  • Really enjoyed staying with Jacki. Great place in a beautiful part of the world. Jacki is a super host, would highly recommend the house.

  • Jackie's bungalow is located in Whiting Bay, a 40 min. bus ride from Brodick (Arran's largest town and ferry port). The room for AirBnB guests has a bed with blankets, a drawer, and a comfy chair. Jackie is very hospitable and 'The Cottage' is right next to the beach. There are also two bars within walking distance. Would highly recommend to those solo and budget travelers looking to see Arran.

  • Had a wonderful stay in this quiet and homely spot in Whiting Bay, minutes from the beautiful beach. The room, home and area was just as described in the ad so met all my expectations and it was exactly was I was after. Jacki was away for a few days so had the place to myself, but she was laid back and social when she was home, and we had a giggle over wine and music! I'm a dog lover so enjoyed the company of her two little dogs :-)

    Jasmina2017-06-13T00:00:00Z
  • I had my own privacy which was very considerate of Jacki since I was feeling a bit exhausted coming back to Arran from Holy Isle. I had the time to regroup which was very important and I feel grateful for her allowing me to be 'unsociable'. Her dogs were little lovely beings bursting with energy & really enjoyed going on a short walk with them while their mama was visiting friends & family for a few hours. ^_^ Thanks, Jacki! Hope to see you again sometime!

The Summer House is a traditional cottage on a small working farm. The cottage has been substantially renovated from its years as a potato store! and now includes everything you need for a comfortable and relaxing (or active), break on our farm
The Summer House has steps at both doors, one step at the back door and two steps at the front door. We also have a wonderful spiral staircase with wooden steps made from local trees. The shower room is downstairs and the bedrooms are upstairs.
The cottage is set up above the village on a working farm, there are loads of walks and cycle routes right from the cottage while the beach and the village are just a short walk away
  • Great house and has everything you need. You can see the sea and beach at Whiting Bay from the garden, lounge and bedroom, and the stars at night are amazing. The only noise was the birds chirping and the odd cow! Penny was a great host, giving us tips on walks, etc. It's a good trek out of town- you could walk to Whiting Bay down a rough track in the light- otherwise you'll need a (robust!) car. The PHT in Lamlash (£15 taxi) is good for music on a Saturday night. Would definitely recommend Arran and The Summer House. Tip- book the ferry there and back- it can be very busy!

  • We had a great few days in Arran staying in this lovely apartment. It’s actually better than the pictures and is spacious - there’s a hall way, lots of storage and double bedroom. Location wise it’s very handy, set back off the main street in Brodick and also has a parking space. The owners were very friendly and helpful.

Kitty was there to meet us, very friendly, and offered us helpful tips about where to head on the island. I would definitely recommend this flat.

  • Katrina and Stewart's self catering apartment was perfect for our stay on Arran. It is clean, nicely decorated and handy for the shops and pubs around Brodick. It is an ideal base to explore the beautiful island. The hosts were really friendly and more than happy to help with info on places to visit and eat and also booked us a taxi when we needed one. I would recommend staying here whole-heartedly. Thanks again for a memorable stay. Chris and Rachael.

    Christopher2015-10-19T00:00:00Z
  • What worked: Great location, spacious, adequate kitchen, good shower. What didn't: Never met the host at all. She wasn't there at check-in time, and was unreachable by phone. We waited until a guest of hers finally let us in. This is not a 2-bedroom but a (comfy) 1-bedroom with a shabby pullout futon in the sitting room - not what was understood from the description. Would have appreciated instructions on how to lock/unlock the front door, and how to work the TV, which we never did figure out. Felt it was a bit overpriced for what we got.

Newly refurbished three bedroom cottage forming part of a listed stables building. Set in the heart of charming Whiting Bay, close to shops and eateries but in marvellous seclusion amid mature private grounds. Open plan kitchen and plenty storage.
Our cottage is within a listed stables building amid secluded private gardens.
The Isle of Arran is a fantastic place often described as Scotland in miniature. It's extremely popular with cyclists hillwalking and climbers but also those who just want to chill out. Whiting Bay is in our opinion the most charming of the villages on the island with quiet beaches, beautiful walks starting from the village centre, and a range of local independent shops and bistros. All this is only 8 miles from Brodick (where the ferry from the mainland arrives) and further amenities are available in the neighbouring villages of Lamlash and Kildonan.
  • We wanted to get away from our usual routine and relax for a few days...and that's exactly what we were able to do at Michael and Sarah's cottage. From our arrival to our departure, we were made to feel very welcome, with everything we needed for our Scottish escape. The cottage is very cosy, but with plenty of space to relax...we spent a couple of evenings in, infront of the fire planning how to spend our days on the island as there is plenty to see and explore. Michael and Sarah were on hand to recommend places to visit, suggestions for where to eat including where to find the best scones on Arran! Each morning you wake up with a beautiful view of the sea, from the cottage - one we never tired of. We hope to be back again one day and would definitely recommend Michael and Sarah's cottage to anyone wanting a peaceful retreat on Arran.

  • We stayed at the cottage for 3 days (4 adults, 1 toddler and 1 baby). This place is indeed as nice as the reviews imply, and the description doesn't quite do it justice. Michael is a superb host and we could not have wished for a better place to stay on Arran. The only thing that we regret, is that we did not stay a little longer, as one or even two weeks on Arran would have been great. We would highly recommend this place to everybody. Whiting Bay is a very nice area with a little bit of everything and just 15 minutes by car to the ferry in Brodick (great pubs / restaurants, nice beach area, basic grocery shopping, playground for kids). We are very happy that we chose that area and in particular the Secluded cottage for our base. We would gladly come back in the future.

  • Could not have asked for a better place to stay! Beautiful surroundings, stunning location and the cottage itself is an absolute hidden gem. Spacious, light and clean which easily accommodates 6 people comfortably (although we were only 4). Just a two minute walk down to the seafront for some spectacular views. Three bedrooms (two doubles and a third bedroom with two single beds), bathroom, shower room and kitchen/sitting/dining area. All amenities were there to make the stay pleasant and relaxing. We received a very warm welcome (with a freshly baked loaf of bread!) plus an introduction to the property and area, with a welcome pack for local walks and places to visit. We all wish that we had booked for longer, and are looking forward to hopefully being able to book again soon. I would love to keep this cottage as a secret, but it wouldn't be fair on other people missing out, so I have already been recommending it to friends/family and colleagues.

  • Our expectations from the Airbnb website were high - the reality was even better. High quality accommodation, superb private location, equipped to a high standard, very comfortable. We liked the wet room shower and the open log fire (on the one cold evening). Special touches such as vase of flowers and home baked bread were thoughtful. The host family were very welcoming. Highly recommended - a great 'find' at very good rates.

  • Michael and his family made us feel very welcome. The accommodation was great in all areas. The property sits on beautiful private grounds which makes the accommodation very unique. Both my friends and myself loved the place inside and out and would definitely stay again. The price is very reasonable for what you get.

  • This was my first airbnb and I was very happy with the experience. The house is modern, finished to a high standard and the location very convenient for exploring the whole island. Instructions were clear and the house facilities exceeded expectations. I would definitely visit this place again.

  • This is probably the best Airbnb house we've stayed so far. The house is not only new, modern, bright, super clean and well located but it also has everything you might need for a comfy and wonderful stay. The kitchen is amazingly well-equiped and the living room and bedrooms are cosy and nice. If the weather is nice, you can enjoy the backyard too! Communication with Iain was really easy and efficient; he always responded quickly to any question we had. Flexible about check in and check out times. I also want to thank Iain for such a welcoming surprise: a bottle of Rioja and another one of Prosecco. Would definitely come back again!

    Laura2016-08-21T00:00:00Z
  • The house is massive. Such a light, airy, bright, open and welcoming space. It really felt like a home from home. Beautifully furnished with everything you need and done to such a high standard too. The views for all the rooms are stunning. The garden is great of sitting out in as there are the two sitting areas so you get the sun all day. Plently of room for everyone and all their stuff to which was great. The location is fantastic too. Trying to think of another excuse to come and stay again :) Iain is so friendly and helpful. You won't be disappointed if you were to book the house.

  • Maitland Park was a luxurious house to stay in! This house has any amenity that you could want for and more that you didn't know that you needed. It was clean, quiet, filled with light, and most of all, comfortable. Iain was a very attentive host and responded back almost immediately. It was a perfect place for a group larger than 4 - it would have been much more expensive to stay in a hotel, and we were able to take advantage of the wonderful kitchen and the large patio.

Ardmhor House sits at the edge of Whiting Bay and is at the gateway to the south of the Island. With secluded open space and stunning views on all sides. Ardmhor House is perfect location for those looking for a quiet getaway. We are sat at the top of a country track, only one minute walking distance from the sea.
Approx 1 mile from the village. Where there is a news agent, post office cafe and bar. Built in 1904, this sandstone detached house was originally built as a hunting lodge by the Duke of Hamilton. It has had many changes over the years such as fever hospital in the 1940's for scarlet fever then a respite home for children with learning difficulties. This room has a Seaview and is south facing. Please note we have multiple listing for this house. There are never more than 3 rooms let at any one time. Great way of meeting new people from all over the world.
Whiting Bay is the third largest village on Arran. Approximately 8.3 miles from the ferry. Glenashdale falls is a popular hiking route and also within walking distance of Ardmhor House, a great way to spend your afternoon. Followed by a lovely lunch at the Coffee Pot.
  • Adrienne and her family have been great hosts! We loved staying in their beautiful house which is furnished comfortably and with a lot of love for detail! You got a nice choice of fruits, a fully equipped kitchen, a beautiful bedroom and clean & cosy bathrooms! It's been the best of our stays during a two weeks trip through Scotland! The communication worked perfectly well and I'd love to come back one day! Thanks so much for making our stay on the Isle fo Arran so perfect! All the best & hopefully see you again! Laila

  • We had a really nice stay at Adrienne's house although we didn't meet her in person. But Steven gave us a quick introduction. We enjoyed the Giant's Grove and the waterfall in walking distance to the house. Food is really good in the restaurants in Whiting Bay.

    Sebastian2017-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great night in Whiting Bay. The room and bathroom were clean and tidy. It was no issue at all with sharing it with the other people who stayed there. We had a great view from our room which was a big bonus. All in all we enjoyed our time there.

    Rahel2017-08-29T00:00:00Z
  • The house is stunning, a level of luxury we never imagined! Perfectly placed as a base to explore the whole island without the rush and noise of Broddick! The Beachfrontflat is in a prime position in central Brodick with sea and mountain views in all directions. Proximity to everything includes being above the small COOP. The beach is just a few yards away and only a ten minute walk to the ferry terminal. This is a Tartan Apartment.
The flat is a one off. The only property on seaside of the main road and uniquely positioned above the COOP food store/newsagent/bottle store. The flat offers amazing views in all directions and our upper room balcony is a Wonderful south facing sun trap from 11am till 8pm . First class on an ocean liner might come close.
This is a holiday Island and for outdoor people it is paradise.
  • Great location near the ferry , small shop , putting green & play park adjacent . Ideal for 3 generations . As the grandparent I loved the self contained loft bedroom en suite ( no bath or shower though) & balcony area . Fridge & kettle but no tv or radio . Dated bathroom & kitchen in the main area but comfortable & spacious making it ideal for a young family .

  • Very convenient location for all the main activities. Right on the bus route too. Walkable from ferry. Great view of ferry too. House had everything we needed for a great stay..cards to shower gel, coffee to electric blankets and even a voucher for the shop underneath! Shop underneath is open 7am-10pm everyday and the only time you hear anything is in the main bedroom when the doors open and close. Will definitely use again.

Lovely house and good facilities inside, great experience and gonna go back again if possible. One suggestion, the access road is quite struggling to enter without your own car. Anyway, it's not far from the center so good location to stay.

  • Booked to stay at the Arran Sleep Huts as a birthday holiday. Were looking forward to an "adventure" styled weekend break. However, upon arriving there was no booking for us despite the receptionist being able to easily find my email thread with the host. Luckily we were given a room in the lodge, however this isn't the holiday we were looking for. There was no doubt whatsoever that the room we were given was lovely, and very clean. Just not what we were after, or what was promised as a birthday gift. Disappointed.

  • Really fantastic place to stay; extremely well kept, crisply clean rooms and sheets were a pleasure! Things were so nice that I wonder if they were recently renovated, especially the spotless white bathrooms. Katrina and her family are very friendly and the baby is only slightly wary of strangers, which is understandable. Excellent big breakfast with good veg options.

    Jeffrey2016-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • Katrina's place is a gem. It's very well located, just a few minutes from Brodick ferry terminal, and in a beautiful setting overlooking Goatfell.
