Open peaceful countryside with surrounding fields
  • Angela & Phil were very welcoming and respectful of privacy. Separate annex with open plan kitchen and sitting room plus ensuite bedroom modern and spotlessly clean. Really comfortable stay. Peaceful location only a mile from main road. Great views.

  • Angela and Phill made us so welcome, they are a delightful couple. The accommodation is fantastic, immaculately clean, set in the most beautiful of surroundings. Just perfect in every way, what more can we say except a big 'thank you' to our hosts.

    Susan2016-07-24T00:00:00Z
  • The room - or better the apartment - was extraordinarily luxurious. Everything new, shiny and very comfortable. Angela and Philip were very kind, welcoming and uncomplicated. The setting is really beautiful and all the free roaming animals were also nice to us. ;-)

    Stefan2015-09-10T00:00:00Z
  • My boyfriend is doing a charity walk and I made him walk further just to be able to stop at Angela and her husband. You will not meet nicer people, absolutely lovely. The annex is fabulous, beautifully decorated and super clean, even smelt lovely. They obviously take great pride in their annex and although the pictures are great the reality is even better. This is just what we needed a beautiful place with gorgeous views. The bed was very comfortable, great bathroom with a large shower, the living-room/kitchen is a great open plan space with fridge, microwave, toaster, kettle, tea, coffee and sugar. They even offered to go to the shop and get us milk. Had it been colder there was a lovely fire place to use. I highly recommend this place and just wished we could have stayed longer. Please just bear in mind that the satnav may take you a bit further down the road then necessary so I recommend to give them a call when you are nearby.

  • Perfect place to stay in the countryside

  • We have had a lovely weekend away, home from home. We booked as we windsurf and cycle and wanted to be close to Roadford Reservoir and also the Granite Trail. Everything has been great, thank you for your very warm welcome and for sharing your beautiful annexe.

    Richard2017-07-31T00:00:00Z
  • This Annex comes highly recommended; spacious, well equipped and spotless throughout. The location is peaceful and quiet - we'll be back!

    Chris2017-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • This is the perfect get-away-from it all place - very comfortable high quality accommodation, beautiful views, peaceful, good base for exploring and friendly helpful host. Nothing is too much trouble and although the annex is separate and private, Angela is on hand to help if needed. This place is a real find and made an enjoyable holiday into a great one - thank you Angela.

A bright self-contained studio between Launceston and Bude with stunning rural views. Located in a secluded, elevated position between the moors and beaches of North Cornwall, it is perfect for a couple of nights away or a holiday. Although listed as sleeping 4, this is really a 2+2, suitable for a couple with up to two small kids on the sofa bed. The studio is a conversion of what used to be my recording studio. It is bright and airy with views of the garden and over surrounding fields to the distant hills of Bodmin Moor. Access is through the studio's own front door. There is a double bedroom with a king size bed and en-suite shower room. From here guests can access the private decked balcony at the rear through the stable door which is the perfect spot for morning coffee or watching the sun go down with a bottle of wine. The fully equipped kitchen/sitting room provides a comfy living area with TV/sound system and a double sofa bed. There is electric underfloor heating and hot water. Free broadband wifi is available with average speed of around 4Mbps. There is plenty of off/on road parking in our quiet lane which has no through traffic and serves only the farm and a couple of houses. If you need the buzz of traffic to lull you to sleep this is the wrong place for you! Your decking is private but leads to the family garden which you are free to enjoy. The immediate area is very child friendly with various swings in the garden and the narrow lane running between the fields to the farm. Either Steve or Sally (sometimes even both, depending on work) is usually around and we are happy to help in any way we can, or are equally happy to leave you to your own devices. We will provide you with a welcome pack to include fresh bread, butter, milk, cereals and local free range eggs together with a selection of teas and fresh coffee. We are also happy to do an advance shop for you if you let us know your requirements. We have a good knowledge of the local area, Steve having been here since 1991, and are happy to recommend destinations for days out and activities. The property is 15 minutes drive from the main A30 Launceston junction and is easy to find up our little tarmac lane - no muddy farm tracks to deal with! The local area is very rural and fairly off the main tourist track. There are miles of footpaths and quiet lanes for walking and cycling, and further afield the beaches of North Cornwall for surfing or sandcastles, Bodmin Moor and Dartmoor for walks and views, and the pretty fishing villages of the south coast for ice creams and restaurants. Our nearest beach is Crackington Haven on the north coast, approximately a 25 minute drive. Launceston is 5 miles away for supplies from the local shops and the usual supermarkets. The lively local pub, a mile away, provides a good selection of local ales and ciders, and does good pub food. The Sunday carvery is recommended. Being a very rural area there is little in the way of public transport - a sparse bus service to Launceston and Bude, and a local taxi firm so a car is a must.
  • My boyfriend and I decided to go on a last minute mini-break. We wanted a quite, secluded location in the countryside, with some nice walks nearby and a local pub down the road. The studio in Petherwin Gate, owned by Sally and her family ticked all of these boxes and so many more. It really was perfect. The studio istelf is of the highest quality - it's beautifully furnished and is spacey enough for 2-4 people. (We were kind of delighted when it rained on one of the days - it have us an excuse to hibernate in the cosy studio!) There's a gorgeous private balcony leading from the bedroom, which looks across stretches of countryside - idyllic. The area is lovvely and quiet - winding country lanes and a quaint little pub about 15 minutes walk up the road. The coast is a 25 minute drive away, where there are stunning coastal paths to walk and beaches to explore. Sally was the best host. She was so friendly, had loads of advice on what we could do and where we could go around the place and was on the end of the phone in case we needed any last minute hints and tips. We were provided with a lovely little hamper of fresh eggs, bread, milk, cereals, teas, coffee and even a bottle of prosecco. We were SO sad to leave - but we're really excited to go back very soon!

  • Wonderful studio and would highly recommend to anyone. Steve was most accommodating and went out of his way to buy us eggs, milk, bread etc before we arrived. Very clean and tidy place with everything you could need. Thanks so much for a lovely stay.

  • The hosts made us feel very welcome and the accommodation was excellent. A really well appointed apartment with all the facilities you need for a stay. A good selection of food for breakfast, a very comfortable bed and a fantastic shower in the bathroom. The location is beautiful and I wish we had stayed a bit longer.

    Phil2016-04-17T00:00:00Z
  • A wonderful stay in a beautifully located studio. The studio itself is clean and decorated perfectly and surrounded by gorgeous views of the countryside and the cows at the back door are an extra bonus! The bed is to die for and you will have the most relaxing sleep. Steve gave us a very warm welcome on arrival and there were so many personal details in the studio which made it felt like our place for the few days we were there. The studio is situated about 25 minutes from the beaches of north Cornwall. launceston we only discovered on our last day but is only a 10 minute drive, we discovered this lovely café for breakfast called the no. 8 which we would fully recommend. All in all a fabulous and totally relaxing stay!

    Maud2016-06-03T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful studio in a beautiful location. Sally and Rosie made us feel very welcome and we had just the getaway we had planned. You will not be disappointed with this choice.

    Chris2016-03-21T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful six days with Sally,Steve and Rosie in their delightfully converted studio. They could not do enough to make us feel at home and the unit not only contained everything needed but offered a great atmosphere thanks to a real effort in interior design. The location is restfull and quiet but centrally located thus allowing easy access to all areas of Somerset and also Devon.

    Malcolm2016-09-11T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful find, beautiful location. Very comfortable stay, everything we needed including bread, milk etc so did not need to worry about anything. Would love to come back and stay longer!! Would definitely recommend.

  • This is a great place to stay and perfect for a small family, like us. It's more spacious than we expected yet also very cosy. Kids will love the garden and may even get the chance to collect fresh eggs. Excellent communication and lovely, friendly hosts - no problem at all when traffic delayed our arrival.

The Water Mill is close to the North Cornwall coast, Dartmoor and Bodmin Moor on the banks of the river Tamar. The building is steeped in history and is named in the Doomsday Book. You’ll love the location, the ambiance, and the views. My place is good for couples. Peaceful and quiet with beautiful gardens to relax in, grazing for horses, fishing in the Tamar, picturesque countryside to explore and numerous places to visit nearby; you will really love it here.
The Water Mill is a grade 2 listed building - last used to mill grain in 1943. The machinery and many of the tools used for milling remain in place. The accommodation combines modern facilities and absolute comfort, amidst the historic setting of the Mill.
This is a rural community, peaceful and quiet.
  • Just wow what a place!! The pictures do not do it justice!! Stunning building, spotlessly clean, a warm welcome and nothing other that the sound of the birds. Wish we never had to leave!

  • Such a lovely place to stay, absolutely idyllic. Equipped with everything you could possibly need, up to and including a potato masher! Fabulously well appointed, very tastefully and cheerfully decorated, you feel the stress melt off as you settle down to watch the lambs play from the living room.

    Piers2017-01-06T00:00:00Z
  • You will love this place. I'll say that again. You. Will. Love. This. Place. Paul and his wife have tastefully and creatively converted this watermill to the highest standards. There's everything you need to make your stay comfortable and warm. Boyton is well positioned to discover North and East Cornwall but you'll not have enough time to do everything. This is a rare find - enjoy it.

Beautifully converted single storey barn, perfect for a romantic getaway, or to relax and explore the area; set on the Devon/Cornwall border just a few steps away from the River Tamar. Crossgate Barn is surrounded by open countryside in a small, peaceful hamlet.
Crossgate Barn is a unique space for a peaceful break in the country but near the amenities of the historic town of Launceston. It is also conveniently located from the A30 and will give you the opportunity to easily explore both Cornwall and Devon, or just relax and enjoy some time to yourself.
Crossgate is a small hamlet located off the A388 between Launceston and St Giles on the Heath. I have some lovely neighbours and everyone is very friendly.
  • We stayed at Crossgate Barn for 3 nights as part of our mini moon after our wedding. Philip was very responsive to emails and is a lovely guy. The Barn is in a secluded spot and a real home from home. Beautifully decorated, lovely comfy bed and private courtyard. The location of the Barn is great, close to the Cornish coast and Dartmoor, so lots of interesting places to visit. Would highly recommend staying here, couldn't fault it at all.

    Paul2017-08-03T00:00:00Z
  • Philip's place was amazing. It was the perfect location for a quiet holiday away from busy towns and cities. Really recommend for couples.

    Debbie2017-06-15T00:00:00Z
  • This is a lovely quiet and very comfortable place to stay. It is beautiful inside and out. It's easy to cook for yourselves - everything you need is provided. We didn't find many restaurants locally which appealed to us but the Eliot Arms pub has a good choice and staff were helpful ad friendly. We bought fresh fish from a stall in Launceston and fabulous steak from he Farm Shop at The Lost Gardens of Heligan. We also had a really lovely meal at The Old Quay House Hotel in Fowey if you are looking for more refined dining. There are lots of places to visit within a day trip. We recommend National Trust Cotehele house, water mill and quay; Lanhydrock; Levant Mine for a great guide & nearby Botallack both on dramatic coastline; and the Eden Project.

    Sarah2017-08-08T00:00:00Z
  • The barn is a beautiful conversion, well laid out and beautifully furnished. Well equipped kitchen. A quiet relaxing setting but not far from Launston. Spotlessly clean and a welcoming host.

Little Acorn Cottage is set in the beautiful Inny Valley. Your own self contained 1 bedroom accommodation which sleeps two. Access couldn't be easier, just a few minutes off the A30 nr Launceston, excellent location for exploring Cornwall. Fully functional kitchen with dishwasher, hob & oven, fridge, breakfast bar, lounge area, kingside bed, shower room and own scenic patio area, where you will see stunning views of Cornish countryside. Padstow, Tintagel, Bude are less than 30 mins away.
Little Acorn Cottage nestles in the beautiful Inny Valley, East Cornwall and not far from the ancient town of Launceston. A very rural countryside location and identified by the Cornwall Trust for Nature Conservation as a prime site of nature conservation value in Cornwall. The Cornwall wildlife Trust refers to this area as a Cornwall County wildlife site. Once part of Trethevy Farm the owners Tony and Shirley Daw live close by in one of the former farm buildings that has been very tastefully converted into a lovely family home. Little Acorn Cottage and the area around offers a true Cornish countryside living experience with an abundance of wild flora and fauna for you to enjoy. The cottage can accommodate 2 people with one free allocated parking space and private access to the newly created cottage. There is a fully functional kitchen with dishwasher, hob, oven, extractor, fridge, breakfast bar. You will also find a large Freeview TV in the lounge area and again lovely views from the patio at the rear. The bedroom has a kingside bed with fresh bedding and towels, a chest of drawers and wardrobe is also included. A hairdryer is also available for your use. The new spacious shower room has a heated towel rail and electric shower with constant hot water. There are many traditional local Cornish pubs near by and Launceston can be reached by car within 10 minutes where you will find grocers, a choice of pubs, delicious restaurants, cafes, coffee shops and a highly regarded Fish and Chip takeaway. For walkers and countryside lovers you are spoilt for choice when you venture out with the likes of Bodmin Moor on the doorstep (an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty) featuring Brown Willy, the highest point in Cornwall and of course amazing views for miles around, Dartmoor not far in the other direction (another very important AONB). With coastal beauty spots like Port Issac, Widemouth Bay,Tintagle & Boscastle, no more than a thirty minute drive away there is always plenty to do and see and of course the amazing rugged North Cornwall coastline, exceptional beaches and surf. For those who love the night sky the area around Little Acorn Cottage is perfect for star gazing with little or no light pollution on a clear dark night the view of the stars is breath-taking and why the area close by has an international dark sky designation and one of the best places in Cornwall to enjoy this spectacle. We look forward in meeting you soon.
We moved here in 2016 and it feels like we have lived here for ever. There is a calmness everyday and a changing landscape with an abundance of wildlife. With beaches are only a short drive away with fantastic walks across Bodmin Moor and on the South Coast Footpath. We can always find an activity to do or just sit at home taking in the fantastic views. We would love to share this feeling of relaxation with you.
  • Shirley and Tony's place was the excellent get away for a few days of relaxation away from the city. The location was excellent! Very central to a wide choice of desirable destinations and idyllically set in quiet farm land. Shirley was very welcoming and warm and helpful with directions, that were very well described! Highly recommended. We did some lovely coastal walks and Shirley had some good suggestions.

  • Lovely, quiet rural escape. Pip and family were very welcoming and made clear and prompt communication. The building, decor and furnishings are of a very high standard and it was a pleasure to stay there. Wish we could have stayed longer!

  • The accommodation was clean comfortable and finished to a great standard. The tea and milk were most welcome after our journey, we couldn't have asked for nicer welcome.

    Lisa2017-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • Luxuriously renovated barn ck version with character and style! Pippa and Matt have made such a wonderful job of the place, it was a joy to stay. Luxury touches like the hide rug and wood burning stove, slate worktops and brand new soft furnishings made it feel far more like a treat than a quick airbnb stopover. Located on their farm it was peaceful and rural, yet close enough to the a39 to make getting around north Cornwall a breeze. Pippa couldn't have been more welcoming and recommended a nearby pub for dinner which was great (rising sun, altarnun) even writing out directions and booking our table! Would highly recommend this beautiful property

    Emily2017-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • We would definitely recommend to anyone who is looking for a quiet but cosy place away from the crowds. The place was clean and inviting and we were made to feel very welcome throughout our stay. We travelled with our 11month baby and Pippa had been very thoughtful and ensured we had everything we needed including toys. Above and beyond what we were promised when booking. • Pippa was very accommodating and friendly and the place was lovely, modern, clean and very homely. Very nice for a get away to a secluded location, however with a lovely local pub and easy to travel around North Cornwall.

Welcome to Rosemoor Lodge, A quaint eco-friendly chalet style modern lodge in the heart of Cornwall. Rosemoor Lodge is an extension to our beautiful family home in Altarnun situated on Bodmin Moor.
We built Rosemoor House in 1998 and Rosemoor Lodge came as a slow and steady extension in 2006. The Lodge itself is completely self-sufficient and heats itself through an underground source heat pump. Throughout the day it gets its electric from the solar panels on the roof. The bedroom and en-suite of the Lodge is submerged under our upper garden, which creates an enigmatic feel to the building from the outside. There is no Wi Fi access within the property except for a hotspot which we believe is a good thing to enable our quests to have a complete break from the internet.
The Area- Altarnun previously known as ‘Altarnon' is a popular tourist destination. The church itself dates back to the Norman era and is commonly known as the Cathedral of the Moor, definitely one to explore. Doc Martin filmed a wedding episode in the village in 2014, and if you're a Doc Martin fan. They film it just a 20-minute drive up the road in Port Isaac, a quaint little fishing village with plenty of character.
  • Jane and Mark's place is excellent value for money. The accommodation is stunning and has excellent facilities. Jane and Mark were friendly and lovely to chat to. We were in Launceston to visit friends at Cowslip workshops but were late both days as we didn't want to leave the property and couldn't wait to get back to it at night. The bed was so comfy too. We will definitely becoming back.

  • Amazing home, brilliant area and perfect hosts, me and my girlfriend had an amazing time and will definetly be coming back ☺️ would recommend to anyone and everyone that is looking to go away to get some peace and quite and to anyone exploring the area

  • Lovely accommodation, Jane met us upon arrival to show us around. We also had a bottle of prosecco on arrival which was a really nice touch. Thank you Jane for having us, we'll certainly return next time we visit Cornwall :)

  • The accommodation was beyond our expectations and is even better than the photos already show. Image a suite in a five star hotel. On top of that, Jane and Mark made our stay memorable with every finishing touch and great local knowledge (writing us three pages of instructions for a road trip around real Cornwall away from the tourists). Thank you both so much and we hope to see you again

  • Rosemoor Cottage is in a beautiful part of the world and only a few minutes drive from the main highway, so we found it super easy to find our way around. The accomodation was clean and comfortable and our hosts had taken the trouble to set up a portacot and leave out some toys and books for our 1 year old daughter which was lovely. We also loved the Cornish pasties left out for us and Jane popped over with some delicious local sausages one day. Another lovely touch was also a chilled bottle of Prosecco waiting for us as we arrived and fresh bread and breakfast staples to start us off. Our hosts couldn't have been lovelier and we got some great tips on where to go from Mark too. Unfortunately for us our visit was completely overshadowed by the total lack of privacy. The 3 big windows in the main photo are the windows to the entire living space and face onto the back of our hosts house. There are no window coverings of any kind and we were on full view all the time if our hosts came out of their house. it also felt disconcerting at night not being able to see out but being totally visible. I'd forgotten there was no wifi which was ok (but unusual these days) and unfortunately found the mobile reception to be nearly non existent (which of course can't be helped but good to know if you are someone who needs to be connected). So we had mixed feelings about our stay in the end.

    Simone2017-03-21T00:00:00Z
  • The place is amazing! I would say is the best accommodation I have ever stayed. I didn't want to leave. We couldn't meet Jane but she is been super nice with us. She left the lights switched on for when we arrive and it is spectacular to see the flat from the outside with all the glass windows. She also let us the outside candles on and a bottle of cava. I couldn't believe how good it was!! We dank it outside enjoying the stars. She also left us bread, milk, orange juice, jam and butter for breakfast. And on the morning a conish pasty. You need to go there!!!

    Laura2016-08-29T00:00:00Z
  • Luxurious! You will not be disappointed with this beautiful, spacious, quiet little corner of Cornwall. The perfect place to relax in between seeing the sights. Jane & Mark were so helpful, full of handy tips for the area and all the little touches (in particular the cava & pasties!) really made it a special break away. If you're a couple you couldn't want more than this..candles, cava, his n hers robes (and bathroom mirrors!) it was delightful & we'd love to come back. The accommodation is of a high standard & we liked the fact there is no Wi-Fi as it was a chance to get off the grid for a few days. Thank you very much for making our holiday a great one.

  • Absolutely fantastic place to stay! From all the little details they provided on arrival to how relaxed and friendly the hosts were. Such a lovely location and beautiful lodge. Made such the perfect weekend destination. If you are considering booking this place - just do it, you won't regret it! Thank you for such a lovely stay, will defiantly come back!

  • L's home is absolutely beautiful, everything is of the best quality. Lorraine made us feel very welcome from opening the door on arrival till we said goodbye. It suited us perfectly as that was the part of Launceston we needed to be in. Very steep hills to town but Lorraine was kind enough to drive us in each day and the walk back was pleasant. Lorraine is an excellent host who couldn't do enough for us. Breakfast was very good and plenty to start us off for the day. The local pub was good for evening meals and about 2 minutes walk. A great place to stay if you are interesed in history.

    Jenny2017-07-01T00:00:00Z
  • We had such a wonderful time in Launceston. Lorraine is a fantastic person, very welcoming and will make you feel perfectly at home. She was also extremely helpful, giving us great tips for our trip and we had some great chats! And what a beautiful home she has! The room and bathroom are even more amazing than in the pictures. Her cats are the loveliest purring cuties I have ever met. Thank you Lorraine, we really hope to come back!

    Lucie2016-08-16T00:00:00Z
  • Lorraine was there to greet me and to make sure that my stay was comfortable. I regularly stay with her and she respects my privacy. I had to leave before breakfast to drive to an early morning business appointment. Lorraine's early morning coffee proved invaluable.

  • We had really relaxing stay at this wonderful place, Lorraine welcomed us despite of our late arrival. The room is really cosy with fantastic shower room. Plenty of coffee provided with continental brealfast was great. We recommend this place very much.

  • Peters place was lovely. The neighbourhood and surrounding area was full of beautiful views. Peters place was clean and tidy, comfortable and inviting. Peter was a lovely guy who made us a killer breakfast and morning cuppa. The recommended walk up Kit Hill gave us a panoramic view of Cornwalls coasts and countryside well worth the effort. Highly recommend Peters place to stay!

  • Peter and Roobs were such great hosts took me in like one of the family straight away, i had a 5 week stay there and it was a real comfort to have a safe place to stay whilst I was waiting for my house to complete. They're both so easy going and friendly. I would definitely recommend their home. Will miss them both and the animals.

Breakfast was catered to our needs; what tea we liked, what cereal and at what time. The host made our stay better than expected by providing us with local information regarding worthwhile visits, something we would never have found. We left feeling that we had made 2 nee friends.

Stay in a Grade 1 listed Jacobean gatehouse, set in marvellous Devon countryside - a perfect place to unwind. The silence and stars at night are breathtaking. Our land has far reaching views to Bodmin Moor and Dartmoor, and then slopes down to the Tamar river. You can walk over the 600 acre farm, or take to the nearby moors! The beaches of North Devon and Cornwall are only 45 minutes away.
The gatehouse is essentially two rooms above the ancient archway to the Manor House. The sitting room and bedroom are both accessed by steep, narrow winding stairs so the property is not suitable for everybody. We have a wood chip district heating system, and a wood burner in the sitting room so you will always be warm. The farm is mixed sheep and arable, with a few cattle, so dogs must be kept strictly under control, and gates carefully shut. We also have a livery behind the Manor House, so there may be the odd passing horse and rider. To the left of the gatehouse there is a stable for three horses, so there will be some activity from there during your stay.
Bradstone is a hamlet with no amenities save a pretty 13th century church which has a service once a year, but is always open.
  • Great value for money, set in beautiful countryside with a lovely renovated finish indoors. Very unique accommodation makes for a special occasion, useful ammenities (24h Tesco Superstore) within 10 minutes drive. Friendly host. Will be returning soon!

    Matthew2017-07-24T00:00:00Z
  • The gatehouse is a very special place, we loved the quiet atmosphere, the fireplace, beautiful renovated interior and the bbq! Its like sleeping in a castle!

    Pauline2017-08-06T00:00:00Z
  • We delighted in our sojourn at Emma and Romilly's lovingly restored Gatehouse — we enjoyed every comfort from playing games by the fire to sleeping in the best bed. They have beautiful horses, and Bradstone and the surroundings are every bit as charming.

    Dora2017-09-05T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful gatehouse full of character in a lovely peaceful location. A warm welcome and lots of information for our stay. It's like stepping back in time walking over to the beautiful old church opposite.

  • Beautiful, very peaceful, ancient We were lucky to feel the athmosphere of your house. Thank you

    Corrie2017-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • We only spent a weekend here but we absolutely loved it. The gatehouse has been beautifully and lovingly restored and the photos do not do it justice; it was a pleasure to stay here. On top of that the manor house, surrounding buildings and area are also stunning and set in a very tranquil rural area. We loved its quiet and peaceful setting and we would love to return to Bradstone in the future.

    Rob2017-07-16T00:00:00Z
  • We had such a relaxing couple of days. This really is a special place.

    Peter2017-08-01T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely relaxing stay at the gatehouse. Great communication and a very friendly host! Although the weather was against us we still managed to enjoy walks around the area and it was just a short drive to the coast and beaches. The bed is the comfiest creation on earth. We will never sleep the same again. Small kitchen is well designed to fit the space and the wood burner fire was put to good use every evening. Hope to come back and stay again soon!

Great views, good walks, easy access to Cornwall's north, south and far west beaches. Good pubs and restaurants, Cornwall's mining heritage, adrenalin activities and more. A romantic hideaway, surprisingly light and spacious, beams in abundance, kingsize bed, rolltop bath, woodburner, WiFi, freeview TV, DVDs and CDs. Pretty garden with stream and pond; good for couples, solo adventurers and business travellers.
A 500 year-old listed Cornish cottage, lovingly and carefully restored to retain all its quirks and character - a few gently sloping floors and low beams, cloam oven, deep window sills and winding staircase - but with everything to make your stay warm, cosy and supremely comfortable. All you need to budget for are meals and days out.
Tutwell is a small hamlet of around 15 cottages and small farmhouses set above the River Tamar in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, also part of the UNESCO Cornish Mining World Heritage Site. Around 15 minutes from the main A30 just as it enters Cornwall, 15 minutes to the historic Devon market town of Tavistock and 40 minutes to the "Ocean City" of Plymouth. The nearest shop/post office/cash point is just over 2 miles away
  • Sally is a wonderful host all round. Everything was very professional, but at the same time she is very warm and welcoming. We had some unfortunate delays and she was very accommodating and communicative, and even kindly booked us a table at a nearby pub so we wouldn't miss out on a meal on account of our late arrival. The cottage is beautiful – charming, historic and rustic, but very clean and with modern amenities. The kitchen is very well stocked with cooking utensils. Sally left us a few essentials including home made cake (which was delicious), fresh eggs from her hens and home made apple juice, which we enjoyed for our breakfast. Sally made us feel at home instantly and gave us tips about the local area. She is clearly passionate about where she lives and this is reflected in the books and extensive local information in the cottage library. We had a very relaxing weekend break exploring the area, and despite bad weather we made the most of hiking on the nearby moors and enjoying seafood on the coast. We slept wonderfully thanks to the quiet surroundings and big, comfortable bed. All in all, I would highly recommend Sally's cottage. It is secluded and yet everything is within easy reach. If the weather is good, there is a beautiful garden to enjoy or if it's not, there's a fireplace, board games, books and DVDs to get lost in. And do pick Sally's brain on things to do, she is very helpful and knowledgeable and will have plenty of ideas!

  • An idyllic location for solitude and peace, Spring Cottage is simply marvellous. The warm welcome ( with homemade apple and elderflower cordial and delicious cake ) was divine and just what was needed on a hot day. Sally has created a beautiful home away from home with little luxuries thrown in for good measure : ) Lounging outside after the sun had passed behind the house, I enjoyed hours of reading and listening to the birdsong. Relaxing in the cool and inviting cottage itself was nothing short of restorative for body and soul. I really can't say enough wonderful things to convey how great my stay truly was.. I would highly recommend Spring Cottage and will be coming back as soon as I can!

    Abby2017-06-22T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderfully relaxing and romantic break here. Tucked away down winding country lanes is the cosiest and comfiest cottage, a complete break from hectic city life. Sally was the perfect host, welcoming us with delicious home made treats and fresh eggs laid by her own hens, even whipping up a fresh batch of scones so we could enjoy the traditional Cornish cream tea (delicious!). Evenings spent sitting outside enjoying the view across the valley were heavenly. Thanks again Sally, looking forward to seeing you again!

  • If you are looking for a couples retreat or a private sanctuary, look no further than Spring Cottage. The pictures of Spring Cottage are beautiful, but being there in person is without compare. Sally is a wonderful host and set us up with a charming and cozy hideaway. The cottage was spotless. The kitchen had everything we needed without feeling cluttered. The bed was extremely comfortable with luxurious linens. The refrigerator was stocked with homemade apple juice, fresh hen eggs and delicious freshly baked cupcakes. From the moment we arrived, it felt like home. Tutwell is a beautiful hamlet which has wonderful pubs nearby (the Royal Inn) and amazing scenic walks. Tavistock and the Moors are easily accessible by car and definitely worth a visit. I would not hesitate to recommend this accommodation to anyone.

  • This is a stunning cottage worth visiting at all times of the year. It is in a beautiful part of the world, very quiet. Sally is a wonderful host, ready to help or give advice about things to see or do. When I arrived there was fresh bread, eggs, chutney, biscuits and the most amazing fresh apple juice. I had a wonderful stay and would recommend it to anyone. It is a most romantic cottage, the perfect place to take that special someone. Can't wait to go back!

  • Spring Cottage is a peaceful and relaxing retreat in the countryside away from the hustle and bustle of everyday city life. The cottage itself is well looked after and reflects that care in its beautiful decor. Sally was a welcoming and a very informative host who generously provided us with homemade apple juice, bread, scones and cream as well as freshly laid eggs from her friendly hens upon our arrival. The cottage is well situated for travel to most places of interest (though we do recommend the lost gardens of Heligan) but still tucked away enough in the countryside to retreat in comfort and tranquility. We would highly recommend staying at Spring Cottage and hope to return ourselves in the future.

  • The Bolt Hole is spacious, comfortable, and equipped with everything you need, combine this with stunning far reaching views and great hosts then you've a recipe for a great place to stay. Great base to explore from, and a lovely place to return to after a day exploring. ...topped off by awaking to breakfast every morning. Perfect

    Marc2017-07-04T00:00:00Z
  • This is a beautiful, tranquil retreat with stunning, uninterrupted views across the sunset. Claire could not be a more attentive host, with a gorgeous breakfast covering all options laid on, a range of teas, and bedroom, lounge and bathroom all to an exceptional standard. The attention to detail is exquisite - Egyptian cotton sheets and a choice of feather or synthetic pillows. I was taking a pit stop on a cycling trip which didn't do the location justice as in is the perfect romantic bolt hole.

    lara2017-07-24T00:00:00Z
  • It's exactly what we were hoping for. A beautiful escape into the countryside. Surrounded by nature, close to a village and with scenic views from the deck over the fields for the perfect sunset each night. Comfortable and clean the accomodation was brilliant, there was a lovely breakfast each morning brought in by Claire and we had our own private access into the AirBnB without having to disturb anyone. Definitely recommend it and would happily go again

    Orijit2017-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at Claire's was just lovely. The place is beautifully situated with a few on fields and cattle. The rooms are really nice with and clean. The bed is super comfortable and the breakfast was absolutely great!!!

    Susanne2017-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • This is a beautiful place to stay. It is quiet and surrounded by stunning scenery and due to its central location was perfect for exploring Cornwall. Claire is a fab host with lots of local knowledge and made us feel very welcome . Our only disappointment was that we couldn't stay longer

    Jenny2017-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • Stunning location in beautiful peaceful countryside. The appartment was tastefully decorated and exceedingly comfortable . It was lovely to have the sitting room and the bed was very comfortable too. Breakfast was generous. Definitely underpriced!

  • Lovely house, very accessible and easy to find. Sarah was very polite without being too over bearing, their dogs are very cute and well behaved. The room was well sized with a large bathroom and separate lounge area. Great views of the valley from our room. All very clean and tidy. Sarah was very accommodating of our veganism at breakfast, which was more than adequate, fruit, cereal and avocado. Great value.

  • A fabulous second stay at Tremeale Manor. A wonderful house and the guest accommodation is clean, comfortable and beautifully decorated. Sarah and Des are great hosts - nothing is too much trouble and breakfast is delicious. Great location to many places in Cornwall including the Eden Project. I even had the chance to use the new Beauty Room and had a massage. An added bonus that makes it a real retreat. Highly recommend staying here.

    Becca2016-07-29T00:00:00Z
  • Sarah and Des are fantastic....................... What more do I need say? OK they were very welcoming and friendly, the best I can say is to liken it to being invited into their family (but in a good way). We felt at home from the moment we arrived to the moment we left, I cannot recommend them highly enough.

    Stuart2016-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • Our first Airbnb experience and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Wonderful private rooms in an amazing house and location. Made to feel very welcome by Sarah and the lovely dogs :) So much attention to detail and beautiful furniture and accessories all fantastically colour coordinated. Breakfast exceeded expectations too. We will re-visit and stay again. Many thanks Sarah and Des, Tiggy and Dolly x

  • We have just got back from the perfect weekend at Tremeale Manor. Sarah and Des made us feel incredibly welcome, we had mentioned it was a birthday getaway when booking and on arrival found that they had left cards on the bed and a message in the hallway wishing us a happy birthday!! The house itself is beautiful, and our room/ rooms were absolutely faultless. In our opinion there is nothing that could be improved. Tremeale manor is in a great location for exploring Cornwall. We cannot recommend staying here highly enough. We would definitely return. Thanks again Sarah, Des, Tiggy and Dolly. xxx

    Emma2016-04-17T00:00:00Z
  • Tremeale Manor was in my opinion faultless, the house was stunning, our room was so spacious and immaculate, the location and views were to die for, the hosts were wonderful and the breakfast was delicious what more could you ask for. This place is a must if you are visiting Cornwall. Highly recommend it. Thank you for looking after us. We wish you both all the success for the future. Lots of love Toni and Michael. X

    Toni2016-04-06T00:00:00Z
  • Sarah & Des were very accommodating. We turned up rather late but they were both (along with Dolly & Tiggy the dogs!) amazing. A very friendly couple with a beautifully presented place. You'll be made to feel right at home. Our only disappointment was not being able to spend more time with them due to our late arrival. You won't regret for one second booking in here for your stay. A fab experience! Thanks guys!

    James2015-10-09T00:00:00Z
  • There is no doubt that this accommodation is first class. From the moment you arrive, to the moment you leave it feels like a home from home. Sarah and Des are great hosts and have the knack of knowing exactly what makes a good stay. The breakfasts are fantastic, the rooms comfortable and very clean and the location great for exploring the wider area. This was our second stay this year, and it's just a pity that we are unlikely to be able to fit another trip in before Christmas.

Spacious and comfortable room with Superking-size bed and high quality fittings and equipment. Rural location, convenient for both north and south coast beaches, and well located to visit all that Cornwall and Devon have to offer.
The detached "cottage" style accommodation affords a high level of independence and privacy, meaning that guests can come and go as they please. 32" television, Wi-Fi, a (silent) fridge and microwave, plus tea and coffee-making facilities provided. The en-suite shower room includes complimentary toiletries. This is a rural location and Beech Tree View is set amid some beautiful countryside. The Tamar Valley is a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
Trekenner is a tiny hamlet with not too much going on. However, just a few minutes walk away is an award-winning pub-restaurant owned by a former Professional Masterchef winner. A car is pretty much essential to be able to enjoy all that the area has to offer, but we are well positioned to be a great base-point for exploring both Cornwall AND Devon
  • We really enjoyed our stay. Tim and Fabiano were friendly and helpful. The breakfasts were outstanding the best we have had. The accommodation was very clean and comfortable particularly the giant bed. Thanks!

  • We were made to feel Very welcome. Wonderful friendly hosts with absolutely delicious breakfast. Perfect setting thank you for looking after us.

    Tricia2016-08-06T00:00:00Z
  • Gracie and I were made to feel so very welcome by Tim and Fabiano. They went above and beyond what I expected and made us feel very comfortable, also offering advice on where to go etc. Beech tree view was perfect, and the setting was beautiful. Breakfast each morning was amazing and set us up nicely for the days exploring ahead, nothing seemed to be too much trouble for the "chef" hehe Gracie was very well looked after with her food needs and was thoroughly spoilt with pancakes! I was very pleased after reading reviews of Fabianos cheese breads that these lived up to expectations too! The location was perfect, we managed to explore Cornwall and Dartmoor perfectly. "That was the best holiday ever becasue the breakfasts were delicious especially the pancakes. George was my best pal and I loved the horses, Charlotte, Lizzie, and I think it was Charlie... I thought that Fabiano and Tim were very very kind and spoilt us, so thank you!" (Gracies words) Thank you for having us! Highly recommended!!!

    Louise2016-08-01T00:00:00Z
  • Tim & Fabiano were great hosts, very welcoming and friendly. The room and ensuite shower-room were very clean and as other guests have remarked, the huge bed was extremley comfortable. We liked the 'detached' set up and the fact that the accommodation was seperate from the main house as this gave us privacy, it was a short 20 second walk over to the lovely breakfast. At the risk of offending either of our hosts, we don't want to comment on who prepared the better breakfast, in case either of them gets big headed! (Fabiano DOES make super Brazillian cheesy bread rolls for breakfast if you are lucky though!) Thank you both for a great stay and for looking after us so well. Mike and Sue

    Sue2015-09-12T00:00:00Z
  • Tim and Fabiano where the best hosts we could have hoped for. We truly received 5* accommodation and treatment. They have a fantastic space with an amazingly comfortable bed, beautiful modern bathroom and all the space you could hope for. The room is separate from the house giving you privacy, but we were able to get to know Tim and Fabiano over wonderful breakfasts in the main house. (Amazing Brazilian cheese rolls!! ;-)) We really had all we desired. This being our first Airbnb stay, we felt so spoilt that we are worried nothing can live up to it! Highly recommend if you are looking to visit Cornwall or even just looking for a relaxing few days away. You will love it!

    Rachel2016-05-31T00:00:00Z
  • Quiet retreat with a comfy private space near a gourmet pub. However, Fabiano's breakfast was equally good, Probably the best we had in UK this time around!

    Lyn2016-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • Tim and Fabiano are very nice hosts. The room is separated from the main building, it's very comfortable with a very large bed! The breakfast is excellent! It's very close to Dartmoor national parc. We had a lovely stay!

  • Great hosts and a great place to stay. Very tastefully decorated and a main living space bathed in light which made all the difference on a stormy Cornish day. I'd recommend to anyone looking for comfortable modern accommodation in a very peaceful and picturesque setting.

    Paul2017-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • Such a beautiful stable in Cornwall. There was plenty of space for 2 adults and 3 children. The fire was cosy and logs provided, the fire was already laid for us which was lovely! Definitely stay again.

    Emily2017-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • A beautifully converted barn in an incredibly quiet and peaceful area - total silence! Mel and Craig were ever so helpful and friendly. When staying here you can pop out the back to collect your eggs for breakfast from the chickens - a wonderful part of our stay. Highly recommended.

    Guy2017-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • We were fortunate enough to stay at The Old Stables in January. We couldn't have hoped for a more beautiful, comfortable, cozy and child friendly environment. Set in picturesque, quiet country surroundings, but still perfectly placed for a short trip to the North and South coasts and local amenities. Mel, our host, was friendly, warm and welcoming and couldn't do enough to make our stay as comfortable and enjoyable as it was. We travelled down through the night, so that our children would sleep. Mel was kind enough to wait up to greet us, which we didn't expect, but was lovely. As a welcoming gift, Mel had left a Cornish beer and cider, a box of shortbread and fresh eggs-a nice touch after a long journey. Attention to detail was second to none, from logs for the fire to luxury bath salts and toys for our kids. Everything was taken care of! Our kids got to fetch fresh eggs in the morning from the hen house, which was so interesting for them. We had an amazing time and were sorry to leave. We would definitely love to stay again!

    Colleen2017-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • Even better than the pictures! Wish we had more time to enjoy the relaxed, updated country getaway

    francis2017-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • Mel and Craig couldn't have been more helpful in settling us into their stables. They are a delightful family. We really appreciated the design and quality of their restoration. The surrounding area is beautiful with pretty walks along a river. The friendly hens in the garden are a bonus.

  • Mel's place was cozy, clean, friendly and warm in an idyllic location. My children said it was their favourite and the woodland walk to Rilla Mill & pub was stunning. Highly recommend!

A blend of rural charm and modern comforts, this former stable and hayloft offers a warm welcome and relaxing retreat for up to three guests and one small well-behaved dog*. Tucked away down a country lane, yet perfectly placed for exploring Devon and Cornwall, you will be only a short drive from some of the West Country's best sandy beaches, wild moors, medieval market towns and more!
Three stone steps lead up to The Cottage and its own private stable door entrance. On the ground floor there is an open plan living area with feature stone fireplace and wood burner (first basket of logs included), as well as a small kitchen with electric oven, induction hob, fridge with icebox and integrated dishwasher. Upstairs there are two bedrooms – one king size and one single – and a bathroom with handheld shower over the bath and WC. Outside is a small terrace patio overlooking a courtyard, in which The Cottage sits adjacent to our own home. Beyond the main gate there is ample off road parking area for several cars. Laundry services and doggie day care/walking available (ask for details and prices). Bed linen, towels, electric, central heating, Sky TV and Wi-Fi included.
Virginstow is a peaceful hamlet, surrounded by open fields and farmland, with only one road running through it. At its heart stands St. Bridget's, a Grade II listed church dating back to the 12th Century. Part of the Diocese of Truro, St. Bridget's is uniquely one of only two churches in the diocese found in the county of Devon. There are several public footpaths in the hamlet and a short walk down the hill is the River Carey and ford, where you will find the old disused railway line and road bridge. Wild life is also abundant and at certain times of the year orchids are common. Our 'locals' are The Village Inn at Ashwater, or Pint & Post in St.Giles-on-the-Heath. Both offer generous portions of typical English 'pub grub' and a warm welcome for you and your doggy friend. We can also recommend other places to eat and visit, in and around the local area. Many of which are dog friendly!
  • Sarahs place was lovely. Easy to find and in a gorgeous part of the country. Easy enough to visit Dartmoor or the sea. Would recommend to anyone looking for a nice quiet break. Would stay again!

    Elliot2017-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • We were after a spacious, comfortable, quiet and clean bolthole in deepest Devon for a week away from it all and Sarah's cottage surpassed all our wishes and expectations. We arrived late in the evening after a long drive from the Cotswolds to find the fire lit and unexpected welcoming goodies (fresh bread, scones, strawberries, wine, etc) waiting for us. Everything about the cottage was just so... from the decor (achingly tasteful), to the super comfortable bed and the spotless kitchen with all the utensils one could need. Sarah's place gave us just the respite we needed and more. It's an ideal spot for few days away from the rat race and we can't recommend it highly enough.

    Alexis2017-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Sarah's cottage is a quintessential English property, bursting with character. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay there. It is truly hidden away inside the Devonshire countryside. We would definitely recommend staying here, whether it's for a weekend break or longer. Lovely surrounding villages with great Sunday carvery options (Sarah left a list of restaurants within close vicinity in the welcome book). The kitchen is also fully equipped and functional if you are looking to cook on occasion. Sarah is a wonderful and extremely helpful host, she gave us lots of suggestions of what to do as it was our first time down in Devon. She is more than willing to help should you need it. One tiny tip if you're thinking of booking, please remember you are on a farm so there are pets etc walking around (which was absolutely fine with us) however, if you feel this would hinder your experience we feel it's worth mentioning. Wonderful experience for us, would definitely go back.

    Saman2017-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • We were greeted by Sarah's mum and her lovely little dog. Straight away we were made to feel at home and reassured that if there was anything we needed then we just needed to say. As we walked into the gorgeous cottage, left for us on the table were fresh scones, bread, strawberries, jam, cream, milk, prosecco and eggs from Sarah's hens. The cottage is beautifully decorated and has everything you could possibly need. Myself and my partner didn't want to leave and could have quite easily moved in! It's safe to say that we will definitely be back.

    Naomi2017-04-05T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful house, had a wonderful stay! The cottage was beautiful and quiet! Would most definitely stay again!

  • The cottage at Cole Barton is wonderful, peaceful, clean and beautifully furnished. We loved our stay and it was great to explore Devon & Cornwall from there. We didn't want to leave! All the small touches really add to the cottage from the welcome package, to the tasteful decor, we absolutely loved it all. Would definitely recommend to everyone!

    Erica2017-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you. We loved the space, the personal touches where amazing and thoughtful, beautiful flowers, yummy breaky, welcoming lights left on. The standard of the bed linen, the comfort of the beds, everything thought of and provided and perfect for any season. Our only loss was not being there long enough to enjoy.

  • We could completely enjoy our holidays because the barn is so cosy and perfectly equipped. There was absolutely nothing we missed and it provides a lot of space. The rural location is wonderful for hiking in Bodmin Moor but it is also only a short drive to the coast or Tintagel Castle. We highly recommend this beautiful place and can only thank Rob and Louise for everything!

    Susanne2017-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • This is simply one of the best AirBnB's we've ever stayed in. There just aren't enough stars to say how good this is. This secluded barn conversion is a home away from home, but without all the undone DIY ;-) This place has everything -impeccable bedrooms, lounge, a decent kitchen and a bathroom with an actual bath -ideal for a family of 4. There is a patio out back BBQ, a table, chairs, and sun umbrella. There is so much to do though within an easy drive (Tintagel and Merlin's cave are only about 25mins away) like us you'll likely not have a chance to fire up BBQ. Rob is an excellent host and he made us feel very welcome. We really didn't want to leave.

    Ian2017-06-02T00:00:00Z
  • The Barn is a really lovely spot to stay it's very secluded, but very drivable for all Cornish and Devon points of interest. The house is spotless, really well renovated and perfect for a group of 4 or 5. The BBQ was an added bonus. Would highly recommend The Barn for a stay, and thanks to Rob for making it very easy.

  • What a fantastic place! Great barn conversion with literally everything we needed. Very clean and comfortable. Rob was fantastic. We knew he was there if we needed anything but left us to our own devices. Perfect base for exploring Cornwall. Quite and tranquil location.

  • What a lovely place to stay in! The barn is quiet, peaceful and private, as well as very well appointed with everything you need for a home away from home stay. It felt like the perfect country retreat, complete with a very comfortable reclining sofa to relax in after a busy day out exploring the beautiful Cornish countryside! Thanks Rob & Louise - we loved our stay.

Boyton Mill Bed & Breakfast is a light and airy suite of rooms with a king sized bed. The millers house is set amongst 20 acres of grounds, including landscaped gardens and fields adjoining the River Tamar, the boundary between Devon and Cornwall. The location is quiet and peaceful, ideal for a relaxing break. Nearby is the North Cornwall coast, with many secluded bays, beaches and picturesque villages. Dartmoor and the Atlantic city of Plymouth are a short drive away.
The three rooms, bedroom, lounge and bathroom are very large. The bedroom has a seating area with coffee table affording views across the River Tamar into Cornwall. The bathroom has both a large bath and a dual head power shower. There is a conservatory off the lounge containing many exotic plants. The lounge has a relaxing seating area and a marble "Adam style" open fireplace.
This area is very rural and peaceful. There is very little light pollution, ideal for stargazing.
  • Fantastic place to stay, our hosts Maureen and Paul were so helpful and kind to us. Our room wasn't just a room, it included a separate lounge with tv and comfy sofas, also the dining table we ate our breakfast at, which was amazing, And a small conservatory which was our own private entrance. The grounds are stunning, as is the accommodation. No complaints at all about this place. We will definitely be back.

In a field with lovely views on our organic farm, 2 huts ( one for sleeping and one a kitchen and bathroom) provide total privacy and peace with a comfortable kingsize bed, woodburner, firepit, BBQ, gas grill and hob, sink, shower, and toilet.
One of our first visitors wrote "so gently and thoughtfully put together to fit exactly into its surroundings, Filled my heart with song!" We stayed in 5 other huts around the country whilst researching before we built our huts and we learned what worked and what didn't! . So you will find: a very comfortable kingsize bed made up for you, a drop-leaf oak table (you might need the extra floor-space sometime) a drop-leaf shelf by the bed, for that morning cup of tea 2 comfortable chairs for when you want to sit inside a wood-burner to keep it toasty warm sheepswool insulation and ecological paints wide steps leading up (narrow ones can be difficult to balance on) wooden decking between the huts so you don't get your feet wet. well equipped kitchen hut with table and chairs gas hob and grill coldbox big enough to hold a bottle of champagne that keeps things cold for at least 3 days (and we can supply more icepacks if necessary) kitchen sink big shower with gas-heated water Swedish "separett" toilet BBQ lovely firepit with an oak bench chairs and table on the decking and of course led lights strong enough to read by that run off solar powered batteries (plus one socket for charging your mobile phone or tablet). We will send you a list of everything else we provide when you book.
This is one of the undiscovered areas of Cornwall. We are set between Dartmoor (in Devon) and Bodmin Moor and between the North and South coasts. The Tamar valley is very unspoilt and very beautiful. This is the perfect place for exploring West Devon or most of Cornwall.
  • Just come back from a lovely stay at Jo & James' shepherds hut. Both huts are finished tastefully and in keeping with the cosy country feel. The views from the huts and camp fire are stunning. Jo and James are great hosts, friendly and accommodating. Would recommend to those looking for a peaceful stay, with lots of things to do nearby.

    Jennie2015-09-05T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful time at the shepherds hut, it was even better the we expected! When we arrived there were fresh scones, clotted cream and jam avaiting us. It was the perfect romantic get-away! We loved it! And i was more then pleasantly surprised, that the hot water did not run out! Thanks again for letting us stay, i am sure we will come back!

    Marlitt2014-08-17T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely few days in the shepherds huts. They really are idyllic; in utterly peaceful surroundings. The layout of the huts is wonderfully thought through and there is everything you need for a few days' escape. The hut with the bed is spacious and comfy and the shower in the other hut is blissfully warm. Having supper on a sunny evening looking over the fields was wonderful. Jo and her husband were very welcoming and helpful and the fresh eggs for breakfast were a real treat!

    Helen2016-06-30T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fabulous stay here, the shepherds hut was very charming and I loved all the finishing touches to the sleeping quarters. We used the fire pit every evening and had a delicious meal at the Springer Spaniel pub and a few enjoyable walks around the farm tracts and down to the river. It all made for a lovely relaxing weekend break.

    Nicola2017-07-09T00:00:00Z
  • My girlfriend and i have just returned home after spending the Easter weekend in the Shepard's hut and it was amazing!! We arrived on the first day and were treated to home made apple juice, fresh eggs, scones, clotted cream and jam. Perfect. We then spent the rest of the day getting settled in to the beautifully presented Shepard's hut, the attention to detail is spot on. The following day we spent at Bude which is about a 45 minute drive which has amazing scenery and well worth a look then back to the hut for dinner fresh off the BBQ underneath the stars around the fire pit. Yes it's as good as it sounds!!! Sunday we had a meal at the Springer Spaniel pub at the bottom of the road (owned by a masterchef winner) again a must try. Almost forgot it was Lambing season and i got to help James deliver a baby Lamb!!! So surreal. There really are not enough superlatives to describe the hosts, the hut or the scenery. Go and see it for yourself. Thank you Jo and James.

    Tom2017-04-17T00:00:00Z
  • Jo and James both made us feel very welcome soon as we arrived. The hut itself was fantastic and fully equipped with everything you would need, all explained very well by James. Even though the weather was pretty miserable we still made the most of it, visiting local towns and a day trip down to port Isaac. it was such a relief to come back, put the fire on and relax in such a beautiful place. Really enjoyed it and look forward to coming back when the weather is better!

    George2016-04-06T00:00:00Z
  • We loved staying at the Shepherd's hut. It's nothing short of idyllic - you'll find yourself surrounded by green fields, silence, sheep and birds in the cosiest, prettiest and romantic shepherd's hut ever. Jo and James are excellent, super-hospitable hosts, with great attention to detail. We cannot recommend this place enough and we will definitely be back!

    rita2015-07-20T00:00:00Z
  • Jo & James a great hosts and her lovely designed Shepherds Hut nestling between the hedges is truly cozy. We enjoyed the tranquillity, the views over the pastures, our walks around the big farm and the homemade scones & apple juice very much. The Hut was spotlessly clean and is well equipped. We had a fantastic stay and we would return immediately. We highly recommend Jo, James and her Shepherds Hut.

    Launceston, Cornwall, United Kingdom

Spacious double room on ground floor of charming Cornish Georgian cottage. The house overlooks the town's famous parade ground with it's panoramic views of Dartmoor, and sits next to the parish church. It's a 1 min walk through the churchyard to the market town of Launceston, which hosts many cafes, shops, banks and all the usual amenities.
I have two friendly cats, and a little jack russel / poodle dog called Flash.
Launceston sits just off the A30 on the Cornwall / Devon border. This gives good access to both the north and south coast, and the rest of Cornwall. I'm happy to advise on places to visit in the area, including the best beaches.
  • Lovely host

  • First time using airbnb and Yvonne's place was the perfect introduction. Yvonne was very welcoming and there to help with anything. The room had plenty of space and was very clean. The bed was also very comfy and the house was quite. I will use again returning if in the area.

    Ryan2017-08-10T00:00:00Z
  • One of our favourite airbnbs! We've been travelling for the past 4 months and Yvonne and her dog Flash are the coolest (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN). Lots of privacy if you want it in a large immaculste room. The cottage is out of a storybook! Would stay here again

    Jess2017-08-06T00:00:00Z
  • Yvonne's cottage is a beautiful 'home away from home' and we would recommend it to any traveler staying in the area. The room is spacious and is equipped with a super comfy bed. Tea and coffee is available and Yvonne also replenished the jug of milk on a daily basis. WIFI is available and the connection is good. The house is in the perfect location, within walking distance to Launceston village centre, the 'must see' Castle and Church. Yvonne, her dog & cats were lovely hosts and we will return if we're ever in the area again. Recommended!

    Kim2017-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • Great location, comfortable room.

    Catherine2017-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • Yvonne's house was perfect for our visit to Launceston, with a much larger than expected bedroom and the most comfortable bed ever! The house and room have everything you would need for a 'home-from-home' stay. A really important factor for us was that she allows pets and even though we were in the centre of Launceston there were still plenty of places to walk our dog. Yvonne's a keen gardener and so the approach to the house was very pretty and looking out from the house you get equally beautiful views across the fields. Finding the property is a little tricky but basically head down Angel Hill and follow the road left until you come to what looks like a small uphill walkway but is in fact a track road. Parking directly near the house could be a problem but there is additional parking in adjoining streets, however we didn't experience any issues. Local restaurants and pubs are within easy walking distance with some independent shops to browse around. Launceston Castle is a 'must-see' too. Yvonne is a wonderful person with many interesting stories about her travels and volunteer (URL HIDDEN) incredible woman and host! 'Flash' the dog was an absolute joy too. I highly recommend Yvonne's listing to future guests.

    Alexandra2017-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • Nice and quiet place in the centre of town, the room is nicely furnished. Yvonne was very friendly and her lively young dog was fun.

It's the upper East wing of a manor house built in the early 1600s. We have no neighbours nearby and the views are stunning, all the way across to Dartmoor. You will have a warm welcome and a great deal of space. The bedrooms are in the roof amongst the original pegged beams. Dust and cobwebs can appear overnight. We're an hour to Truro and Exeter and forty minutes to great beaches on the North and South coasts, so you're in a perfect place for exploring all of Cornwall and Devon.
  • If you're looking for an immaculate place with all modern conveniences then this may not be your cup of tea, but if like me you're looking for somewhere with tons of character and real history, that you can feel totally at home in, then this property represents outstanding value for money. That said the place is very spacious and has everything you need including a very functional kitchen, laundry facilities, and comfortable beds in both bedrooms.

  • Just spent a week at Sue's place in Devon. We were one day late in arriving due to car trouble and when we let Sue know we would be late she even offered to come and pick us up....a 2 hour drive each way!! Sue had a couple of beers in the fridge for us when we did arrive and could not have been more friendly and welcoming..along with Ginge the cat, who visited regularly during our stay. The accomodation is part of a centuries old manor house and as such is rustic but very clean (no sign of any cobwebs that she warned us about) and comfortable with a good selection of basics (bread, milk, cereal, tea, coffee etc) supplied by Sue to get you started. The central location is great for travelling to all parts of Devon and Cornwall and the cheap rates make Sue's place even more appealing. We would have no hesitation in recommending a stay at Sue (and Ginge's) charming old manor house and would certainly stay there again if we ever return to that part of England. Thanks again a Sue.

  • Great location and peaceful environment.

    Zoe2017-08-09T00:00:00Z
  • When we arrived Sue was waiting with a bottle of wine and a lovely welcome sharing the history of her home which we loved hearing about. There was special thought put into the breakfast selections which we really appreciated. We enjoyed sitting in front of the fire in the evenings! We were delighted to stay in a home with a special history! Thank you Sue for being a lovely host!

    Rosalind2017-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • We very much enjoyed our stay at Sue's place. It was an ideal place, quiet location, good value for money, clean and comfortable. It has a lot of character, just what we wanted, somewhere in the countryside but not too far from the main routes and supermarket. Good central place to visit the north and south Cornwall towns. Sue was the perfect host, she greeted us with a warm welcome and provided us with the essentials to start are short break away which meant a lot! There was a vast variety of leaflets on what you can do in Cornwall and Sue has a wealth of knowledge too when it comes to finding the right beaches for surfing! I would recommend it to my friends and family.

Also the mini fridge was a huge bonus as we had bought our own milk! (Milk was actually provided for us too though). Sheila and her family were so friendly and lovely and we enjoyed chatting to them and appreciated the advice when planning our walk. Sheila came to say goodbye when we were leaving and bought us some rock cakes she made which were delicious! Overall we had a great time and will definitely be back - Thank you Sheila! x

  • The cosy cottage in the small quiet village is spacious, comfortable and well set out. It is immaculately clean and well equipped. The beautiful private garden has a stream running alongside which adds to the relaxing feel of the location. Di was a very friendly and welcoming host who was on hand if anything was needed. Her communication was excellent. Both Di and Emma who was finishing tending the garden on arrival were able to give us lots of information on the local area. Di had kindly left us inviting and delicious cream teas on arrival which immediately made us feel at home and enabled us to relax and enjoy our stay. We had a lovely short break thank you to the kind owners and Di our wonderful host.

  • This place is a fantastic spot nestled in the heart of the Cornwall countryside. It's nicely secluded and is untouched by tourism so it's a great little hideaway. Despite that, it's a nice drive to both coasts so you can have the best of both worlds. The cottage has all mod cons including means to watch Netflix etc if you'd like. Di kindly leaves instructions in that regard. Di is a wonderful host. She's warm, friendly, approachable and attentive. She's around if you need her but she lets you get on with your holiday too: a perfect host! Definitely stay here; you won't regret it!

    Kelly2017-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • Mill Cottage is great in everyway. The location is perfect for exploring all areas of Cornwall, whilst at the same time it is quiet and away from tourism. The cottage itself is beautiful, spacious, clean and has everything you need for your stay. Di is a wonderful host, we were welcomed with a cream tea, and she booked us a table for dinner at the local pub as soon as we arrived. Di was happy to leave us to explore for ourselves but was always on hand if we needed her. This is a perfect little hide away cottage.

  • We really enjoyed the stay at this lovely farm. The Kids loved the playground and the animals. The breakfast was delicious and prepared with love. The rooms were clean and the beds very comfortable. We didn't miss anything. Sandra and Richard are great hosts and provided helpful recommendations. A nice pub is close and more dining options are available in Launceston.

  • This is just perfect! Sandra and Richard are the most wonderful hosts, I felt right at home from the moment we arrived. Nothing was too much trouble, everything had been thought of and there were so many fabulous touches. We stayed with our 2 boys and the farm park after hours was a dream come true. We spent hours bouncing around in ball ponds and petting the bunnies. I am already trying to have an excuse to return. I cannot recommend enough. Nor do I have enough complimentary words to say how amazing our stay was.

    Emma2017-08-19T00:00:00Z

  • Sandra and her husband were lovely hosts and they live in a beautiful farm setting that is relaxed and full of fun for children of all ages - our girls loved the huge , flat play areas and ability to use ride on go karts, slides, trampolines , zip wire as well as all the farm animals ( especially the bunnies)....... The accommodation was very comfortable for all of us and the breakfast the next morning definitely filled us up - delicious! Definitely recommend a stay X

  • Brilliant place for families. The room is large and spacious complete with all facilities for a great stay. The room is based on the New mills farms so kids have access to all the animals along with a large play area with slides zip line trampolines and much much more. Also a cafe onsite which is very handy. There is even a steam train that can take you straight into Launceston (nearest town). Nearest beach is ~30 mins drive. To stay here you definitely need a car as it is approx 1.5-2 miles from Launceston. Overall an absolutely brilliant place to stay. Sandra and Richard were always available and gave such great advice for places to visit. They always went out of their way to please us and made fantastic breakfasts. A brilliant place !!!!!!!

    Vimal2017-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • Sandra's place was quite adorable with lots of animals to cuddle up to. The farm seems like such a fun place for families. She and her husband let us borrow their pups for a walk along the steam train track that runs behind their property. The room was comfortable with a beautiful ensuite bathroom and Sandra cooked us a delicious breakfast, catering to our dietary restrictions. Sweet and lovely people, have already recommended to our friends with young children!
