“Very good food; people come from all over to eat at Mario's. Their menu says their food is Continental, which is worrisome, but that's because it calls well from several European cooking traditions. We particularly like their steak, scallops, burgers and popovers. Great sauces and soups. You may need a reservation, but if that's not available they will happily do a take out order or feed you at the bar. Closed Tuesdays.”

Place to shop
“While it is fun to browse the antique stores of Hudson, they are also quite expensive. For real bargains, head to Meisner’s on Saturday night. Prices are normally 1/10th to ½ than they are in Hudson. Be sure to CAREFULLY inspect what you want to bid on ahead of time (during the week or right before the Saturday night auction) as everything is sold as is. If you see something you really like but can’t make the auction, phone bids are accepted. Check out items for sale on their website.”

“This turns out to be a great friendly local place, particularly for wings and very good burgers. Pizza oven too. Bar, good selection of craft beers on tap. Find this place in a back corner of the Midtown Mall next to the OTB, but don't let that deter you. Closed Monday; the kitchen serves on other days until 10 but the bar stays open till 2 a.m.”

“Have to say, this is the closest place locally for drugstore items, household things, things you forgot, big boxes of cereal, Pop Tarts. Open every day and until nine, which is helpful.”

“A good local place for a bagel and the newspaper. Open until 2:30 in the afternoon.”

“Samuel J. Tilden comes from New Lebanon and is buried here. He was the reformer and presidential candidate who lost the close election of 1876 via the electoral college to Rutherford B. Hayes; something we've seen happen again recently. You can make this phrase out on his monumental stone crypt: "I still trust in the people". Want to know more about New Lebanon and its amazing history? Download the free app called "The Water and the Word". It offers brief driving tour stops in town, including the Tilden Monument, as well as extensive optional chapters on all their relevant national history. Listen to those any time, like on the drive up.”

Point of Interest
“Our town park, nice and green, good for putting kids on the swings or on the jungle gym at the great playground, or for some time on the basketball courts or the recently redone tennis courts. You'll also find a baseball diamond and a little stream. There's a covered pavilion with picnic tables, too; look out for summertime music festivals there.”

Food
“In the summer, a fantastic place to get fresh corn. Great for seasonal produce and flowers. We buy our Christmas tree here every year too; the tractor takes us up the hill & we argue & pick one out and somehow manage to cut it down and get it back to the mill.”

“This is Tegan's store, here in New Lebanon, open on most weekends. Known for its wide selection of everything, particularly furniture, housewares, linens, clothes, shoes, pictures and decorative items, as well as rock-bottom prices. Plus, Tegan is there and that will brighten anybody's day.”
