Park
“The Petrified Forest is one of the most beautiful monuments of gobal geological heritage. It extends over the northwestern portion of Lesvos, in a region covered almost exclusively by volcanic stone. The protected area encompasses 150,000 square meters. The Petrified Forest was created during the intense volcanic activity that occurred throughout the greater northeastern Aegean region 20 million years ago. The volcanic eruptions at that time caused enormous quantities of lava and ash to flow from volcanic vents, covering the center of Lesvos around these vents with molten lava, and the more distant regions with a thick layer of ash.”

Park
“This is Lesvos' oldest antiquity. Situated between Sigri and Eressos and on the shores of the small island of Nissiopi. Pieces of petrified wood and trees still standing cover a large area and the age of the forest has been estimated as twenty million years old. Apparently the trees had been preserved when they were covered by volcanic ash from nearby Mount Ordymnos.”

“Going north of Sigri, you will find Panagia Faneromeni Beach, which is a large and sandy beach. There is an impressive rock that separates the beach in two parts. You can easily reach there by car and you can have drinks in the only beach bar there. It’s the ideal solution for visitors that love the quite places.”

“Skala Eressos Beach is located few kilometers from the village of Eressos and it’s one of the most famous and impressive beaches of the island. It’s a large,4-kilometers beach, with white-grey sand that satisfies any preferences. A big part of the beach is organized providing you with umbrellas and sunbeds as well as watersports. You can enjoy local food, drink ouzo or have a cocktail to the ethnic bars around. However, if you prefer tranquility you can go to the west part of the beach, which is also nudism friendly. There is also a small lake with turtles and a small area with palm trees. Skala Eressos Beach has been repeatedly awarded the blue flag of the EU.”
