Places to stay in Little Bookham
Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in the Surrey Hills. Near J9 of M25. Gatwick Airport is 21 mins by train into Dorking (Deepdene) railway station. Denbies Vineyard is near by. Area well known for cyclists. Comfortable and quiet surroundings. Relax for that important business meeting, or use as base for holiday or rejuvenating weekend in the countryside. There is a pub in the village.
Views of Surrey Hills, quiet road in cul-de-sac. Easy free parking. There is a single room downstairs and a double room upstairs, both with en-suites. The village is rural, but within reach of facilities in nearby Dorking (1.5 miles). No pets are on the premises, but being in a rural area you will encounter dog-walkers. Many of my visitors are doing the Pilgrim's Walk from Winchester to Canterbury. There are also several wedding venues nearby, notably Denbies Vineyard.
Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Surrounded by land belonging to National Trust or Surrey Wildlife Trust. Near to Juniper Hall Field Studies Centre. The market town of Dorking is renowned for antique shops. There is one pub in the village, The Stepping Stones, and two pubs, The Running Horses and King William IV in the next village (Mickleham). There is also a café and restaurant at Denbies Vineyard.
  • Perfect place to stay for a weekend in and around Dorking.

    East Horsley, England, United Kingdom

The Den has its own private entrance and is detached from our family home, allowing you to come and go freely. We are centrally positioned in East Horsley and make an ideal base, from which to explore the area. We are less than a 5 minute walk to Horsley train station, with its access both up to London (50 min) and down to Guildford (15 min). There are plenty of local shops, restaurants and take aways all less than a 3 minute walk. Simple continental breakfast included.
East Horsley is a leafy, quiet village a short distance from the beautiful Surrey Hills - perfect for walking and cycling enthusiasts. We are also only a 5 minute drive from the A3 and its access to the M25 junction 10. We are almost equidistant between Heathrow and Gatwick (slightly closer to Heathrow!) Be warned that our road has no street lights, so if planning to walk to/from the train station after dark - you might appreciate a torch!
  • Fantastic space with everything you need for a comfortable stay. Nicky provided a selection of cereals, bread, butter, jams, biscuits, bottled water, tea, coffee. • I have stayed in the Den multiple times and will definitely stay again if my work in the area continues. Nicky is an excellent host really helping me when I needed to add another night at short notice. The Den is cosy, comfortable and well equipped for a short stay. Nicky leaves a great selection of cereals, bread, butter. marmalade etc for breakfast. The Den is 2 minutes walk from a parade of shops and takeaways and is also close to the station. It is 5 minutes drive from the M25 so it is easy to reach local attractions. Highly recommended.

The house is set back from the road, surrounded by lovely gardens which guests are welcome to use.
Lovely village with good links to Guildford (20mins by train) and London (49mins by train). Local shop is 2mins down the road, village itself has a selection of independent shops and pubs. An absolute joy to be in with a very comfortable bed, crisp linen and a fluffy duvet. Lots of nice little touches and great privacy as you have the entire upper floor. I had a restful sleep and on top of it a lovely breakfast. Isabel is very welcoming and I'll definitely stay

The Tyrrells is a Grade 2 listed house in Great Bookham, a lovely Surrey village. Ample parking and near several National Trust properties and country walks, including Surrey Downs. Less than an hour by rail to London. B&B, lifts to station, etc
Eclectically furnished, our guests would have sole use of the top floor and large bathroom. View 12C Church from the half timbered bedrooms. Homemade breakfast in the dining room, pack lunches and cream teas by arrangement.
The Tyrrells is located in the middle of the charming village of Great Bookham. Polesden Lacey is the National Trusts most popular venue and is on our doorstep. Less than a mile to Bookham Common and close to the hiking trails of Ranmore Common and the Surrey Downs. There are 3 pubs within walking distance, shops and restaurants, as well.
  • Lovely house. Super breakfasts. Had a great time. Host was very welcoming and made our 3 year old feel really special. Mind your head on those low beams and doorways!

    Stephen2019-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • History in bucketloads and children loved the allocated rooms on the top floor. Perhaps if you are over 5 foot 10 you might struggle with the low beams! Lovely breakfasts and thoughtful touches.... but remember this is a 1600 property and if you are looking for double glazing and underfloor heating, this is not it, but if you are looking for a friendly characteristic stay, you will love it. Truly thanks Patti.

    Sarah2019-10-02T00:00:00Z
  • I would certainly want to come back another time to this beautiful old, typically English countryside house! Everything is interesting: the house itself, the host, the village (Jane Austen was a frequent visitor) & the surroundings. There are some drawbacks because of the age of the house: a handheld shower with a difficult to master hot-cold spurt of water (which remembered me of the old house of my English grandmother), ceilings and doorheights you have to watch out for and beds that are not meant for tall people. But you get so much in return, that you accept this and just enjoy everything the place has to offer. A very easygoing and warming host, a place with lot of character, the most beautiful pub 'Royal Oak house' dating from round 1200, two very good, cosy and affordable places (Carolina's & Crazy Bean) to have lunch or (vegetarian) dinner and the beautiful countryside. Never expected this in such a small village!

    Jane2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic location right in the quaint village. Walk to groceries, pub, cafes, a park, etc. Patty was a great host & very accommodating. We kind of just made ourselves at home as that was the vibe we felt. This was our first “B&B” experience staying in someone else’s home while they are there. I think it worked out well even though we have a noisy & curious 3 year old ;) Room was small (to be expected for the age of home) & bed was comfortable. The bath has a handheld shower- not a standard shower (again, to be expected in England). We would stay there again as it was super convenient to family & amenities.

    Samantha2019-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful home and an incredible host! We will miss you!

    Corrie2019-08-15T00:00:00Z
  • Second time staying- just as great as the first, and we really hope to be back again some time! Patty is a lovely accommodating host who makes you feel so welcome. And you can’t beat the history of the place. One of our favorite places to stay.

This beautifully refurbished one up one down flat sits independently in the garden of our 14th century farmhouse. With a king size bed upstairs and a sofa bed in the living area it is ideal for renting by a single person or couple. Freshly decorated in restful tones, it has a shower room and equipped kitchenette. A private patio in the garden, alongside a gurgling stream, makes a great place for breakfast in summer. The village of Effingham boasts two pubs, a row of shops, and trains to London.
Downstairs, a living area with double sofa, TV corner, table/worktop, cosily next to the brand new kitchenette and shower room. French doors lead out to the patio. Upstairs a lovely bedroom the full length of the flat, with windows each end overlooking the garden. It’s snug, bright and relaxing.
Effingham is a perfect place to stay, whether you are there for business, cycling the Surrey Hills, walking the North Downs Way and other lovely footpaths, or making use of its fantastic access to London, Heathrow, Gatwick, Guildford and other Surrey towns. Stay here too if you’re visiting the Grange Park Opera, off to the tennis at Wimbledon, going to the Derby at Epsom, or visiting fabulous Wisley RHS Gardens or National Trust properties Polesden Lacy and Hatchlands. Effingham is a semi rural village with peculiarly good facilities for its size. It boasts two pubs, a top notch butcher, a baker, hardware shop, general store, hairdresser and cafe. Three churches cater for different denominations, and the primary school feeds into the excellent Howard of Effingham School. Nearby Great Bookham has a larger selection of shops and services.
  • Lovely apartment, private from the family but Jonathan and Kate were fantastic hosts, very kind and responded to any questions quickly.

  • You can expect great communications, a stylish, warm and welcoming property in a great area. With fantastic little touches. We especially liked the notice board welcome message, and also the history of their home and area in general, which throws up quite a surprise. Especially if your a dambusters or Wellington fan....

  • It was wonderful staying at Kate´s and Jonathan´s place. There was a warm welcoming and the little house is located in a lovely setting. Everything is clean and neat. You will find a small shop down the street for every day shopping. I look forward to staying again!!

    Christina2019-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is in the garden of Middle Farm, with French windows looking over a little stream and a lawn - a most pleasant view. Two cats come and go, and the gurgling of the stream lulls one to sleep with the windows open in warm weather. The cottage is well equipped and comfortable, although it takes a little time to get used to the sloping ceiling of the bedroom. Everything works well, and the shower is excellent. Jonathan and Kate are a pleasant couple, welcoming and helpful. Although their house is only a few steps away, the cottage is entirely a place of its own, and one's privacy is respected. I have no hesitation in strongly recommending Middle Farm as a place to stay while enjoying walks in the Surrey woods.

  • A great place to stay for my working trip to Leatherhead. Handy for getting to work but quiet and relaxing at the end of the day

  • Fantastic stay, lovely host. Her house is brilliant and would stay again. Everything you want - home from home.

  • Lovely period property in super convenient location right across the road from the train station. Holly was very friendly and welcoming.

  • Context - solo traveller seeking break from the city and time outdoors. Hollys cottage is an idyllic home away from home. There’s a spacious garden, and inside plenty of history, colourful decor and antiques to satisfy any history and art/ antiques lovers. There’s a thick blanket and electric heater in the living room perfect for cosy, quiet nights in. If you feel the cold, bring extra layers, however there’s plenty of extra bedding for toasty, restful nights’ sleep. The location is very convenient, facing the train station. There are plenty of walks, at the doorstep in all directions and plenty of maps to use whilst there. Plenty of well-marked walks for solo travellers. Holly was a warm and friendly host committed to making you feel at home and comfortable. She provided helpful advice and tips for planning walks and even lent a pair of waterproof socks when my trainers reached the end of their days. She was very accommodating with check in and check out times which helped make the most of the trip. I highly recommend staying at Catbells and look forward to coming again!

  • Holly is very friendly and helpful. Holly’s place is clean and cosy. It’s an ideal location for walking and has very easy access to the rail network.

    Simon2020-01-16T00:00:00Z
  • I came to Holly’s to take a break from London and get some time exploring the local walks. She is an avid walker herself and an absolute expert on the area. She gave me loads of great suggestions and took the time to show me the maps and point me in the right direction. When you stay here you get your own bedroom plus your own sitting room + TV to rest and relax at night. The place is literally across the street from the train station and it couldn’t be more convenient. My top tip for staying here is pick up groceries on your way to the place. There is a fun pub in nearby but little in the way of convenience shops or local grocers. Holly does make fantastic jam though and I probably helped myself to a little bit too much of it:)

This single room is in a family home. It is 5 minutes walk from two railway stations and 10 minutes walk from the town centre. There are plenty of cafes, restaurants and pubs; a cinema/theatre and sports centre. Quiet location with off-road parking. WiFi.
A great place if you need to be in Dorking for work, leisure or an event. We are close to cycling and walking routes in the Surrey Hills. Your single room is private and upstairs. There is a separate bathroom and toilet upstairs and another toilet downstairs. You can have tea and coffee anytime. I will show you where things are.
It is quiet and private. A nice private road, at the end of a cul-de-sac. There is off road parking for 3 cars.
  • It's a perfect accomodation in Dorking.

    Adrienn2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely great place to stay. "Location, location location" as estate agents say: Perfect location for every facility and convenience on the doorstep. Only a very short walk from not just one, but 2 railway stations! A variety of buses and a taxi rank at the slightly closer of the two, too. I also found a "convenience store" with good, reasonably priced hot snacks (within a petrol station) just a block away from the end of the road (corner of A24 / London Rd), also just a few minutes walk away. And Dorking town centre not very much further, either! And to top it all a great hostess in a clean and vibrant family home. Miranda's communication was very responsive, helpful, and accommodating. Miranda was quick with a very wel cuppa on my arrival, great attention to detail, helpful with everything I needed: nothing was too much trouble. Miranda is also very interesting to talk to; I was only there for a short, one-night stay, and only had time for an equally brief "natter" but I certainly got the impression she "knows her stuff", certainly where art is concerned at least. My own very meagre knowledge of art doesn't qualify me to judge, but her passion was clear and self evident.

    Michael2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • I have stayed at Miranda’s many times. She is always very welcoming and the breakfast is lovely

  • Miranda is a super host and very nice person.I stayed there for a month. You feel like home and you can spend some time with a very lovely and friendly cat as well. Two train stations, bus lines and Tesco express are very close to this place. You can enjoy a variety of cereal at Breakfast. If you have plenty of time you can visit Surrey hills . I recommend this place for long and short stays.

Situated in West Horsley, in the midst of the Surrey Hills. With walks directly on your door step, this is in the perfect position for walks in just about every direction. In the grounds of a large family home with parking in front garden and seating areas. It's the perfect stop for anyone wanting a tranquil stop over or some time away from the hustle and bustle.
Cobham & Guildford are closeby, within 3-4 miles away. With nice village restaurants, bigger restaurant chains, swimming, ice skating and cinemas. Guildford shopping is good. Most locals tend to dine in the great local pubs, restaurants in West Horsley Village and in Cobham Village.Shere Village and many more
There is only a handful of neighbours nearby. Most of them live within the small Hamlet that you drive through to get here.
  • Clean and sparkling place, very cosy and private

  • Beautiful, quiet cabin ideally situated at the end of the garden so that you get peace and quiet and feel like you are in your own space. The bed was really comfortable and the host was lovely. We hope to return soon. Thank you.

  • This is the second time we have stayed here and it didn't disappoint. The place is spotless and cosy. The perfect getaway from city life in London.

    Arabella2020-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • This is such a lovely little cabin with everything you need. It’s nicely tucked away and is very peaceful with lots of walks right on your doorstep or you can visit several National Trust sites which are just a short drive away. We had a very quiet week which was perfect.

  • This modern lodge located in a tranquil Surrey countryside providing a perfect escape from busy city life was just what we needed. The lodge was clean, spacious and equipped with everything needed for a comfortable stay. Central heating heats up the lodge extremely fast in colder days. Internet was good enough for us (Netflix worked okay) but may be slow for someone expecting city-like speeds. The surrounding area provides impressive scenery and hours of walks through local forestry. Beside horses for which the place is known for, we encounter deer less than 100 meters from the lodge and seen plenty of squirrels on our daily walks. Elaine was always available if needed yet respectful to our privacy. She went far beyond any expectation, ensuring our pleasant stay. Her knowledge of all the walking paths and beautiful places around Surrey ensure our daily walks were truly blissful. We truly enjoyed our stay, and we recommend this place to anyone seeking an escape to nature.

  • Lovely room. Cosy, clean and comfortable. The addition of a Tv with Netflix and Prime Video in the room is a bonus. Has tea and coffee making as well. House is lovely and is in a quiet road with good off road parking. Linda and Sean have also put a pack together with lots of useful information about the local area with pretty much everything you need to know. Their place is a home from home. I highly recommend it.

I had a very comfortable and relaxed stay as I was visiting for an interview and they were the perfect hosts to stay with. It's like staying at friends place but with the professional hospitality. If I am in the area will be staying again, highly recommend them.

  • Our second stay at Shepherds Rest (in slightly colder conditions) and it honestly couldn’t of been better. Fiona & Simon are always so helpful and friendly, we really felt at home there. Even though it was raining most of the weekend, we were cosy & warm in the cabin and had everything we needed to have another wonderful stay. We truly adore it here and can’t wait to return next year!

    Beth2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely lovely stay in the prettiest of locations, great little touches with many things to do in the area. Great communication & help when needed. Warm and very cosy, with a super comfortable, large bed. The Hut has so much charm! We are totally looking forward to staying again.

  • Fiona and Janice have a beautiful place- wonderfully restored and just what you need to recharge in the countryside. Loved it here- wished we were there for longer and the small touches really made a difference. Can't reccommend highly enough.

  • We had an amazing stay in this beautifully restored shepherd’s hut. It is so cosy inside and the bed is really comfortable with the addition of an extra quilt as a sheet. The facilities are just as beautiful and well kept with all the appliances you could need for a break away. Our hosts even helped us out with a spanner so we could take our bike wheels off for transportation. A lovely little break away!

    Louise2019-09-23T00:00:00Z
  • My friend and I had the most beautiful weekend staying at the Shepherds Rest. It was so nice to kick back & slow down, especially as we both work in the city. Fiona & Simon were so welcoming and really made us feel at home. We loved all the thoughtful touches; like fresh flowers in the kitchen, boardgames, maps of the local area & the mini torch we used for getting back and forth to the hut etc. We'll miss our evenings spent sitting by the fire, listening to music with scrabble & hot chocolate (and a glass of wine or two!) whilst roasting marshmallows. It was the perfect location for exploring the local area, we ventured out to Box Hill for hiking and visited the local vineyard during our stay, we also found the short walk to the pubs very handy. Would love to go back!

    Beth2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay at Shepherds Rest. The shepherds hut is well finished and really cosy. The kitchen and bathroom area are well furnished and we loved the breakfast food that was available. Lyn and David are amongst the most hospitable Air BnB hosts I have come across. They are also incredibly knowledgeable about fantastic local walks. The homemade granola and bread live up to the rave reviews I had read before I booked to stay here. We hope to stay again.

  • Such a great place to stay in the heart of the Surrey Hills. Such a great holiday home. Highly recommended.

    Dean2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely, clean and cosy self contained accommodation! The set up was ideal, with everything you could need...plus the sofa bed was very comfy, which was a lovely surprise. Jackie was brilliant at responding to any queries we had. The check in was easy as was the directions. She left us milk and wine in the fridge, as well as some snacks which went down a treat! We were looking for somewhere to stay whilst working down the road, but I would come back here if I was visiting the area. Jackie is a lovely host and its a shame we couldn't stay longer.

    Gina2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • What a truly delightful place to stay. It's perfect for a get away, with everything you could need for a stay and modern and spacious too

  • Jackie was a great host, was very accommodating with a cot for our little one and nice thoughtful touches when we arrives. We got unlucky with the weather but the place was great and we still managed to find plenty to do in the local area. Thanks so much, would definitely recommend to others.

    Jay2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Jackie is the perfect definition of a person who goes beyond what they need to in order for you to have an easy check in and understanding the lay of the land. She is quick to respond to questions and always enquiries if you need assistance. An absolutely perfect superhost. The place is easy to get too and in a lovely quiet area. The house is concise and so well kept which makes the stay so simple and nice. The thoughtful touches and welcome treats really makes you feel homely. I cannot wait to stay there again.

Hi I have a double room to rent in a first floor maisonette situated by the river at Leatherhead. Five minutes walk to the town centre or leisure centre, ten minutes walk to rail station and five minutes drive to the M25. Also a great base for those wanting to explore the Surrey Hills.
This is a double room which looks out towards the park and river Mole at the rear of the property. The toilet and bathroom are situated next to your room and have use of the kitchen. For warmer weather there is a garden that you are welcome to use.
  • Lorraine is a friendly. And considerate host. The room is clean and the location was perfect for my needs. Parking restrictions shouldn’t be too much of a problem for those on business travel and keeping office hours.

Are you a business professional, working in Leatherhead and looking for a comfortable home-from-home experience to make working away easier to handle or a global traveler looking for a good base to explore London or the Surrey countryside? Ideally, I'm looking to find a well-presented, clean and tidy lodger who seeks a Monday to Friday room rent to share my newly refurbished flat on a long-term let but short-term stays are fine too. I can also offer a continuous 12-day tenancy in 14 days.
    * Facilities * A well-equipped, modern kitchen, bathroom and living room are available to share with all the essential items you come to expect like washer/dryer, iron & board, smart TV and even a colour laser printer/scanner. The kitchen benefits from a fridge freezer, fan-assisted oven, gas hob, kettle toaster, slow cooker, hand blender, sink/drainer and dishwasher. with crockery / cutlery for 8 servings. * The Room * (bedroom 3) The bedroom you will be occupying is based at one side of the property on the entrance level (ground floor) so is quite private; it hosts a new bed and mattress, bedside and reading lamps, smart TV, swivel chair & desk with Ethernet, HDMI & USB charging connections, electric blanket in case you get chilly or fan when it's warmer, hanging space and a suitcase stand. Curtains and a blind provide warmth and help to keep out daylight while the window is double-glazed and can be secured for ventilation when required. Power sockets are available all around the room. * The Property * The flat is accessed via a metal staircase, up one level so the ground floor is actually above the property below. If you have mobility issues, this may not be ideal for you. The living room and kitchen are also on the same level as your bedroom and the floor above has two other bedrooms and the shared bathroom. The bathroom has a matching suite, comprising toilet, large basin and large bath with a shower head for in-bath use. There is also a separate shower in a large cubicle, heated towel rail, shaver light and mirror. The living room boasts a table for six people with chairs / benches with two double reclining sofas. Throughout the property is modern artwork, gas central heating and a blue night-light feature in the kitchen, stairs and hall way. The flat is protected by an intruder and smoke alarm and exterior CCTV. Wired and wireless Internet is available throughout the property.
Just off the top of Leatherhead High Street with excellent public transport connections, you will be well positioned. * Public Transport / Local Area * Parking is limited in the area from 8am to 6pm; if you are working on any of the local trading estates, local shuttle buses operate for free. Public transport is excellent and the flat is only a 6-minute walk from Leatherhead railway station. Please note, there is no dedicated parking space available for the flat. M25 Junction 9 is a 5 minute drive. Leatherhead railway station serves London Bridge, London Victoria and London Waterloo railway stations in as little as 38 minutes. or Guildford and Dorking in the opposite direction with lots of options to interchange. Leatherhead town centre boasts three pubs, five cafes a dozen restaurants of varying origin and a Lidl, Sainsburys or Waitrose to name just a few of the common names you will encounter. Leatherhead Leisure Centre is a short walk away and there are various other gyms nearby.

This room is in a large 6 bedroom family house with a garden, chickens, bees and a friendly dog and a large drive for parking. We are close to the M25 and A3, but in a peaceful location at the foot of the Surrey Hills. Whether you want to stay one night for a local party or work commitment or a week or two needing a home from home, you need look no further. The room has a large ensuite bathroom in a jack and jill arrangement with another bedroom - it may be shared if the other room is full.
This is a lovely family house where the younger members of said family have more or less flown the nest leaving me with empty rooms. The house is big enough for our guests to feel they have their own space and I am pretty flexible about use of shared facilities like the kitchen.
We live up a private road with 10 houses in total and a stables at the end. We have wonderful neighbours, great walks and cycling in the area, a station a few minutes drive away and bus routes from the bottom of the road. 3 local National Trust properties, a wonderful cheese and deli a couple of minutes walk away and a full range of village shops and restaurants 5 mins away. We are spoilt for choice with good pubs in the area providing everything from good pub grub to gastro pub food, Thai, Indian and Chinese. Guildford is only 10 minutes away and is a bustling town with all the chains for shopping and eating.
  • Jo is a very pleasant host and the room was great...she went the extra five miles not just the one .. I will definitely stay at Jo's again if I'm working in the area

Was easily accessible to all amenities and had a home away from home feel. Would highly recommend this property and Jo and her family were very friendly and accommodating. Can’t speak highly enough of this place.

  • Sean and Linda’s Airbnb was like a home away from home. Nothing was too much trouble for Linda and Sean. They treated us like part of the family. Their place was short walk to shops and 15 minute walk to Bookham train station. Breakfast was soo good we skipped lunch nearly everyday. Their knowledge of the area took us to some interesting places we wouldn’t have gone too without their input being Mercedes World and Brooklands Museum to name a couple. I will recommend Sean and Linda’s Place to all my friends who will travel to England from Australia 🇦🇺 and Thanks again to Sean, Linda, Joseph, Poppy etc etc for making our stay so wonderful. Dave and Colleen. 🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺😎😎
