    Sam2018-01-29T00:00:00Z
  • Was a lovely space in a lovely area, would definitely visit again

    Charlie2018-01-21T00:00:00Z
  • Campion lodge is absolutely fabulous. When we arrived it was quite dark but the lodge was all lit up with Christmas decorations and the heating was on so it was cosy and inviting. We stayed for a long weekend and were lucky enough to experience a lot of snow, the view from the lodge was fantastic. The hot tub was well maintained and added a real wow factor. The lodge is well equipped with everything you need to make a meal, and a welcome hamper of wine, milk and biscuits was provided. Nice touch. The bed was extremely comfortable and the bathroom huge! Campion Lodge is one of five lodges all in a row but it still felt very private and there was no noise from the other lodges, although I’m sure they used the Bose sound system as much as we did :) We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this lodge to friends and are already planning our next visit. Our dog was the saddest of all leaving this lovely place.

  • A quaint old cottage in a very convenient location on a main road. Parking is on a small driveway at the side of the house, and is best done in reverse so that you can drive away more easily in the morning when the road gets busier. The room is cosy, comfortable and nicely furnished in retro cottage style, with double-glazed windows which are very effective at reducing road noise. The private bathroom is across the landing and has a roll-top bath, basin and loo. George was very welcoming and could not have been more helpful. Thank you!

A spacious holiday cottage in the converted bakehouse of the former Firmin's Bakery. In central Coggeshall, within walking distance of all of the village's amenities, restaurants and attractions. Many of our guests have friends or relatives in Coggeshall so we provide seating and dining in the kitchen for six. Our welcome breakfast is supplied by our local delicatessen just across the road and our chickens when it's not winter, they are not broody and not too old to lay...!
A one bedroomed cottage which is light and airy. The kitchen and cloakroom are downstairs and the bedroom, bathroom and living room are upstairs with a view over our garden. We have created a seating area for our guests in the garden which we try to maintain to ensure that it insect and bee friendly. Mary, Pecal, Frizzel, Ludo and Trixie add charm and character whilst they do their best to dig up my plants.....!
Coggeshall is a great place to stay if you are looking for a pretty space to stay in Essex but within easy walking distance of our shops, restaurants and two National Trust properties. Grange Barn and Paycockes House. To the north of Coggeshall lies Marks Hall, an arboretum with beautiful gardens and walks. Beyond is northern Essex and Suffolk littered with medieval towns and villages within pretty countryside. Heading south, by train and you can access central London, Westfield shopping centre and the 2012 Olympic Park. We even have our very own Coggeshall community bus which runs to and from the train station in the morning and evening. So at Firmin's Bakehouse you can have the best of all worlds - an attractive place to stay with a plethora of peaceful villages to explore one day and a busy day in the Big Smoke the next.
  • The Bakery House is a very nice, big and lovely accomodation. Alex is a more than great host, who provided more useful utilities and products as most other hosts and most of all let you feel very welcome. Coggeshall is a small but also very lovely town with a nice and friendly atmosphere. All in all we can recommend the Bakery House very much.

  • Firmins Bakehouse is a special find! Really spacious with lovely finishing touches & very centrally located. The animals and the sound of the town clock added a special charm and Alex is a perfect host!

  • It's a great, quality space, beautifully furnished, light and airy with loads of windows. The kitchen has everything you need to self-cater and there's a great butcher/grocer across the road that opens early. The Village is lovely, great little shops, historic buildings and good wine bars/pubs if you want to eat out. Alex and her family are friendly and welcoming and made me feel right at home. The only inconvenience was poor phone/internet connection, but that's just a feature of the village!

  • We loved the location of Kevin's place and found everything as described and sparkling clean. The shared space is great for playing pool, watching TV or even working out. We met another very friendly family while there. The surrounding countryside is beautiful - I managed a 6km jog on mostly footpaths and country roads on Sunday morning. Kevin met us on arrival and correctly told us that the local pubs were great for food - we loved the Three Horseshoes particularly. Highly recommended.

Very peaceful garden house on our organic farm. Sleeps 2/3. Mezzanine bedroom with double bed. Additional single folding mattress. Use of swimming pool in summer months. Train station (Marks Tey) 5 mins, London 50 mins. Restaurant on the farm 'The Barn' (closed Mon & Tues)
Very beautiful, ideal for peace and quiet away from the rat race!
Very peaceful but easy access to London. As well as The Barn, there is a pub in Great Tey called The Chequers about 1/2 a mile walk away and another good pub in Chappel called The Swan about 3 miles away.
  • This place is just perfect! We wanted a quiet place to chill out and the pool house is just gorgeous! Quaint space but plenty of room, lovely homely features. Very comfortable bed. The log fire heats the house and smells amazing too. We’ve stayed in many Airbnb and this is by FAR our favourite. Everything you need for the kitchen. Shower great, everything very clean. ‘The barn’ is at the end of the drive, great reviews for eating and drinking. Lovely Gins!! Lots of guinea fowl running about and right on the edge of a wood! Watched rabbits, squirrels, woodpeckers and listened to the owls!!! Can’t praise lucy enough, fantastic host, super friendly and can’t do enough for us! We can’t wait to return!!!!

    Sarah2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • What can I say, our little weekend in the pool house was just lovely. Lucy was so hospitable and helped us with lifts to and from the station as we didn’t have a car. Would highly recommend staying either in the cold seasons to snuggle up by the wood burner, or in the warm seasons to have the double doors open into the garden. Would definitely stay again!

    Zoe2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • The Pool House is such a lovely space for a relaxing break. We were here for a quiet New Years celebration, and had everything we could have wanted. Lucy was lovely, and everything was perfect. Had a great ramble across fields to The Swan Inn in Chappel, which we'd recommend, as the food was great. We'll definitely come again!

    Jess2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • The Pool House is an absolute joy to stay. We were there over Xmas 2019 visiting family, and it was the perfect place to be. The log fire ensured that we always came back to a warm and cosy place to shelter from the elements, whilst Lucy's warmth, care and hospitality throughout our stay ensured that our time at the Pool House will be a treasured memory. I would go back in a heartbeat. Thank you Lucy

  • Wonderful cosy escape in the countryside. The pool house is cosy and comfortable, we spent a weekend there and wish we’d stayed for longer! The space feels like a home from home and we spent many happy hours in the evening by the fire. The surrounding area is beautiful and so peaceful. The house had everything we could need, Lucy is so welcoming and made sure the house was warm and lit on our arrival. We’d love to go back!

The Grade II Vicarage Cottage is sited in the middle of the historic village of Great Tey. It was originally thought to be stables to the Great House, which was the name given to The Old Vicarage when it was built in the early part of the 19th century. The Cottage was originally converted to a house before the war and has been updated several times over the years.
Vicarage Cottage stands right beside my home, The Old Vicarage, but is completely self contained. It is cosy and full of character, perfect for a relaxing break. The spacious bedroom also has a double sofa bed. There is a living room, kitchen, bathroom and access to the large garden, which is available at all times, but in the summer watch out for ‘Herbert’ the robotic lawnmower. The living room has Freeview TV with music equipment (radio + cd player) and books galore.
It is within walking distance of the local pub, The Chequers, and a few minutes driving distance from the highly recommended The Barn restaurant. The Chequers and the Barn do not cook meals at the beginning of the week, but the Swan Pub at Chapppel, the next Village, is open every day. Colchester, Britain oldest recorded town, is 6 miles away for anyone interested in history. Suffolk, famous for Constable Country is a little further. There are many designated footpath walks around the village for the ramblers. A real peace and quiet getaway.
  • A wonderful stay with wonderful hospitality. Lovely personal touches and some supplies, and nice recommendations for local walks.

  • What a wonderful cosy cottage! Norma was a lovely host and made sure we had everything we needed and more! The little personal touches about the space made it feel like a home from home and she even put up Christmas decorations which were much appreciated! The cottage is very well equipped and the surrounding grounds are beautiful! We stayed for a weekend and wish we were there for longer! I’m sure we’ll be back in the future!

    Emma2019-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at this wonderful property for a week , while walking the 84 mile Essex way. It was absolutely perfect for our needs. The house had lashings of hot water and had a much needed bath tub , for a good soak at the end of each day ! It had a very comfy bed, fluffy towels, a brilliant log burner, off street parking and a good pub , one minute walk away . The place was sparkling clean and Norma was an extremely welcoming host who couldn’t do enough for us. The pictures do not do it justice. It is a lot larger than we expected. It’s a real ‘home from home’ and we would recommend it to anyone looking for a very spacious and comfortable place to stay.

    Joy2019-11-02T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful little place to stay. Quirky and interesting; warm, cosy and clean. Norma prepared the place so thoughtfully, going "the extra mile" with fresh food and drink, and a surprising range of short stay toiletry products! Communication was easy and quick. Lovely quiet location, in a nice little village. A12 and A120 easily accessed. We have already booked to stay again!

  • The hideaway is a perfect little escape from busy modern day life. Lucy is a fantastic host, from the point of booking to departure. Directions to the hideaway were perfect, tour of the facilities available were helpful as were the little welcome touches (bottle of wine and nibbles). The bed was extremely comfortable and the rainfall shower was a lovely way to start the day, as was the hand delivered breakfast basket. Cannot wait for a return stay in the warmer months to make use of the pool. Thanks again, Lucy!

  • Absolutely perfect. Lucy and the Poolside Hideaway were everything we could ask for and more. There was great communication in helping us find the location. Upon arrival we were greeted with smiles all round. Upon entering there was fresh lemon water and a bottle of wine offered which is great touch! The place itself is gorgeous; cute and quaint. Had a couple of games of pool in the games room before deciding to eat which was fun. Lucy kindly went out her way to cook for us saving us ordering a take-out after a long trip; amazing cuisine! We were secluded and there were no distractions which was ideal for a peaceful retreat. Slept amazing, shower was class and upon leaving bacon baguettes, muffins and coffee were the icing on the cake. Lucy is the most accommodating and pleasant host. Definitely the hostess with the mostess. We will definitely be back in the summer to enjoy the pool!

    Charley2019-10-06T00:00:00Z

  • We stayed in the double barn for a relaxing night away from work and family life and what a great pick it was. You're set off the main road, in a nice green area and you feel you're in the middle of no where with wild rabbits out at night, we spotted a few driving along the lane at night - i love rabbits so was in my element!! You get a little noise, but not often, from the neighbours that I'm assuming live along the lanes driving past and there is a train track near by but as an over all this didn't bother us at all but I know it may bother some if they are expecting complete silence in the middle of no where. It never kept us awake and that's the main thing. The suite itself was absolutely amazing inside. Tidy, clean and beautiful decor and not to mention the amazingly big shower cubicle! Seeing this shower room made us want to come home and agree to renovating ours ;-) The bed was super comfy and cosy and the duvet and pillows were even more cosy! We will sure be back at some point to try the king suite. There was tea and coffee facilities provided along with some bottled water and yummy oat biscuits! Finding the location was easy, even in the dark! Thank you for having us!

  • The Glamping Pods in Colchester are truly a magical getaway. Liz and John’s vision, craftsmanship, hard work and dedication has really paid off. The kitchen and shower amenities, bedding and sheets, and all other extras in the pod were to an extremely high standard with no shortcuts taken! It comes equipped with all you need and great to have the BBQ! The enclosed garden is perfect and dog friendly, our greyhound loved it! It’s such a secluded area in which is peaceful to sit back and relax. Another advantage is Swallows field is close to supermarkets, pubs, dog walking routes and Dedham Vale. Liz and John were fab hosts who really looked after us, they are friendly, considerate and really go that extra mile to make you feel welcome! We’d certainly recommend and look forward to returning in the future.

  • Everything was perfect. The little touches, the amazing welcome!! Early check in updates without even asking. Cannot wait to go back ASAP. The most relaxed I have been in ages and my favourite place I have found on Air Bnb so far!!

    Tanita2019-07-31T00:00:00Z
  • Our recent stay at Swallowsfield was absolutely beautiful from the extremely warm welcome we received right through to the day of departure. Nothing was too much trouble for Elizabeth and John. The extra touches were spot on from the OS map of the local area to the fruit and veg garden. Everything really has been catered for to ensure a great stay. All the facilities are of a premium standard for both comfort and cleanliness and the extra option of a hot tub only adds to a wonderful experience. We really do look forward to staying again. Paul and Dena .

A very bright and airy feel greets you in our lovely 2 bedroom, double glazed, centrally heated mobile home. Situated on the A120 in the village of Bradwell, set between the towns of Coggeshall and Braintree. Fantastic views over open countryside, set within a stones throw of the River Blackwater and a public footpath on the door step. We are set behind a high evergreen hedge in a beautiful spot with ample parking space. Shopping, restaurants, petrol stations and Freeport outlet are all nearby.
Coffee and tea is provided. Continental breakfast baskets can be ordered at an extra charge. We are situated along the A120 so there is traffic noise especially during peak times of the day. Our secondary home has a fully equipped kitchen and a separate living room where an additional put you up bed can be used if required. The main bedroom is en-suite with bath and shower attachment and a small second bedroom for one and possibly an infant.
This is a beautiful spot with a public footpath on your doorstep and an Indian restaurant 2 mins away. In summer there are countless types of birds flying around and watch out for the early morning deer and rabbits. The River Blackwater runs a stones throw away where you may be lucky enough to spot an otter. A local park and the beautiful village of Coggeshall are nearby.
  • Great placement on the a120 so central for lots of locations, yes it’s on a main road and it’s loud but it doesn’t bother us. Clean, has everything you need and great hosts.

    Amy2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • The mobile home was very clean and had lots of space. Cliff and his wife are very nice people and I would absolutely recommend staying at their mobile home. The Indian restaurant across the road was also a very positive experience.

    Pål2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent, well-presented caravan, with great views over the Essex fields and woods. The caravan is very spacious, has all you need in the kitchen and bathroom, excellent heating (for the winter), and large living room with big TV.

    Tony2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Yes this caravan is on a busy road, yes it’s busy 24/7 but after an hour or so it becomes background noise! The caravan is warm, spacious, homely and has everything you need. Friendly chickens in the morning to greet you and amazing views over farmland out the back. This is fantastic base and lots to travel and see if that’s why your there, for me I was visiting family based around Essex so an ideal place. Garage over the road for milk etc, big supermarkets just two miles away in Braintree. There is no WiFi and my phone didn’t really get any signal but it was quite nice to be “off grid” during our stay. We also took a young crawling baby and it was safe and warm for him too. We will definitely return.

    Amy2019-12-03T00:00:00Z
  • I booked this mobile home so that friends visiting from London could stay nearby and have their own space. They loved this little place and raved about the view! Will definitely book again.

    Bronwen2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • Comfy clean and warm. Great for chicken lovers and heavy sleepers who like curry from the great Indian up the road.

    Gregory2019-10-12T00:00:00Z
  • Danielle and Cliff were very friendly to us, we arrive a bit late at night but they were expecting us with a huge smile! They gave us some indications about the place and also where could we go around Braintree (Freeport, of course, its great for shopping) We had tea, warm beds and a beautiful view of the field behind the property, we even saw some rabbits :) The place it is on a busy road, but it was ok at night to sleep. By car or bus its easy to get to the house. We really appreciate the hospitality of Danielle and Cliff and recommend the stay. Xx

  • We’ve just returned from the most incredible stay here. We stayed here as we have a wedding at Layer Marney tower and this amazing air bnb was a 10 minute taxi ride away from the tower. Everything was perfect! Impeccably clean, lovely touches with the orange juice, the croissants etc. Such outstanding value for money! Jess replies to all messages and can’t do enough for you. Would 100% recommend and would 100% love to return one day.

  • Jess’ place is not only true to the photos, I’d go as far as to say better! The accommodation itself was of an excellent standard, all the things you could want for are there, and the log burner is a real treat on a cold night, not to mention one of the comfiest beds I have ever slept in! Location is very secluded and quiet, can easily come and go as you please. Jess was always very quick to reply and made the whole experience stress free. Would recommended to anyone and will certainly stay again!

A contemporary newly refurbished 18th Century cottage in the picturesque village of Coggeshall. A beautifully designed interior with everything to feel at home, it’s the perfect location to explore the surrounding countryside, only a walk away from the local pubs, restaurants and shops. A convenient location from London, it also has many places of interest; National Trust properties, Antiques, Independent Boutiques, Farmers Market, Museum, Marks Hall Gardens and Arboretum and a Local Vineyard.
A quaint cottage with a spacious kitchen diner with double doors opening out onto a seated patio and good size garden. With original features the cottage has a cosy living area and 2 double bedrooms which share a newly renovated luxury shower room. As this is an old property, part of the charm is that the stairs are quite steep! The cottage is my home but as a guest you are invited to use the whole place so enjoy as I do!
The cottage is within walking distance to all of the amenities of the village centre; shops, cafes, restaurants, parks, garden centre and country walks and much more.
  • Anna's cottage is a beautiful and cosy space, perfect for a quiet getaway! The space is very stylish and warm despite the recent cold weather. Anna was a very thoughtful and helpful host. Barely an hour from Greater London, the tower's brickwork and terracotta glows in the sunshine, the tallest Tudor gatehouse in England, with amazing coast views. Harder to spot in a beautiful spot nestling in the birch, ash and alder trees that you'll share with pheasants, woodpeckers, muntjac and owls are the Tents, some facing onto red deer in adjacent fields. In early spring, there are even lambs to bottle feed! The race to build the tallest building goes on today. In Tudor days, Henry Marney as Lord Privy Seal and Captain of the Bodyguard followed Henry VIII's lead and set about rivalling Cardinal Wolsey's work at Hampton Court, building the tallest Tudor gatehouse in the country. Today, with its stunning tower, grounds, lakeside setting and stableyard, Layer Marney has a way of adding to and boosting the Feather Down ingredients. At this gorgeous Country Retreat location, luxurious wooden-floored tents have interiors also reminding of days gone by, while including flushing toilets. The Feather Down Feeling is to be had too in an outdoor hot tub available in the booking process as an extra. Indulge the senses in nature following adventure getting the water to the perfect temperature with the wood underneath, for the perfect sunset. Or take off on family bikes rented here. Layer Marney even has its own farm animals to visit and meet, but dogs cannot be accommodated. The Layer Marney grounds make a beautiful wedding venue and music can sometimes be heard by the early-to-bed. On a smaller scale, for the family you can cook up your own nice slow-cooking meal on the wood burning stove, perhaps using the ingredients for the scrumptious "cowboy supper" stew. Make use of the honesty shop, which is right there at your ideal glamping holiday! Please note: there is no electricity in this location

  • I enjoyed spending a night in Daniele‘s place during my bicycle trip in the UK. The room is big and comfortable. It is in a quiet area, right next to the river. Pubs are only a few steps away. Daniele is a lovely host and her breakfast is not to be missed.

  • I really enjoyed Swan Cottage. The location is beautiful and the room was spacious and comfortable. I had my own lovely bathroom with power shower and it was lovely to be woken by birdsong. I will definitely stay there again when I am in the area.
