Llanelwedd Holiday Rentals

Just booked in Llanelwedd

A self-contained, recently converted stables with eco-friendly heating system. The location is peaceful & ideal as a base for exploring the beautiful countryside of Wales & the borders but we are also just 5 minutes drive from Builth Wells centre & the Royal Welsh Showground. Hay-on-Wye is 35 minutes drive away.
If booking for 2 people, you will have 1 double bedroom with a kingsize bed & en-suite bathroom. If booking for 3 or 4 people, you will have another bedroom, with twin single beds & its own en-suite bathroom. There is underfloor heating which is powered by a ground source heat pump. The bedrooms are on the ground floor & each has an ensuite shower room. A few steps down from the living room take you into the large, light-filled kitchen & dining area. There is an outdoor seating space outside the kitchen with table & chairs. The kitchen has a large, American style fridge freezer, an oven, hob, coffee machine & dishwasher.
The property is surrounded by paddocks, woodland & gardens. Bird life is plentiful, from red kites to wrens & we have thriving populations of hedgehogs & bats. We keep a small number of miniature Ouessant sheep to 'mow' the grass in the orchard & paddocks. On a clear night, the starry sky is breathtaking as there is so little light pollution. Builth Wells has a range of shops, takeaways & pubs/ restaurants, as well as a cinema/ theatre, post office, banks etc.
  • Stable cottage is absolutely beautiful, set in idyllic countryside and incredibly peaceful. The cottage itself is beautifully decorated, light and airy, with all the mod cons but also a cosy, farmhouse feel. You have everything you need there and we were very comfortable. Louise and her partner were very welcoming and friendly and very responsive to messages in the lead up to our stay. The breakfast kit of crumpets, milk, fresh eggs and butter is a lovely touch. Great base for exploring the Brecon Beacons and some lovely restaurants nearby. Would definitely stay again.

  • We had a fabulous time, the accommodation was beyond what was expected. It was so nice to be able to go away with an old friend and not have to be in the position where you have to share a hotel room or pay single room supplements. The cottage was fab, great dining room/kitchen kitted out with everything you could possibly want in a kitchen, our hosts left out delicious honey, fresh eggs and basics like tea, coffee, bread, milk before we arrived. Louise was a lovely host, she was there to welcome us on arrival. The location was great; so many places to visit within a short drive; Hay-on-Wye, Brecon, Red Kite feeding centre, Galleries etc. Loved the dogs!!! The rooms were all decorated and furnished to a high standard, we loved the little touches; books on wildlife, trees, novels etc games like scrabble and risk. The bedrooms are light and airy, well decorated, both with en-suite bathrooms and immaculate. The living room was very comfortable, big comfy sofas, plenty of room and lots of nice touches like blankets and throws. There is an outside seating area which looks out into the woods and rams in the fields, lots of bird feeders, we saw a buzzard, lots of finches, wood sparrows, bullfinch and swifts. The grounds and gardens are a delight with a riot of colour from the plants. We have had a lovely holiday and will be recommending the Old Stables to friends and family. There is a lot to see, but check places out before you go. We were pleasantly surprised to find Jazz music in a number of pubs in places like Brecon and Hay-on-Wye. There are lots of Galleries which exhibit work from Welsh artists which were cheaper than the same Artists work I have seen exhibited in North Wales and Cheshire. The locals are extremely pleasant and the pace of life is slower than I am used to which was fantastic. It's a place to relax into and to take the time and talk to people. Try it. It's worth it.

  • This place definitely has the wow factor! The building was amazing and the surrounding were so peaceful , you will really feel at one with nature. We won't be staying anywhere else in Builth now that we have found this gem. The hosts Louise and Mike couldn't have been more welcoming, 12 out of 10 guys.

    Elaine2017-04-30T00:00:00Z
  • What a superb place to stay! The accommodation was beautiful and the setting so tranquil. Louise was the perfect host and I would fully recommend a visit - everything was perfect.

  • The Old Stables is amazing! We loved our stay and would love to visit again. The accommodation was spotlessly clean and felt so welcoming. We loved the way it was furnished, especially some of the vintage style items which I love! There was so much space for us all and you can see how much love and care has gone into preparing everything. The hosts were so helpful and the communication and directions brilliant, if you are looking for somewhere in this area don't hesitate to book the Old Stables, we will certainly book again!

  • Louise is a delightful host. Her place is so big, nice and very clean. Everything around - green hills, pines, sheep, dogs, chickens in the garden, etc. etc. is beautiful and gives you piece and happiness. We were very happy in Louise's place and would love to visit again. Highly recommended! Thank you Louise and Mike!

  • Resounding five-stars all over. The accommodation is really spacious, modern, clean and incredibly well finished. We felt very much at home at the stables and would recommend anyone to stay there. Louise and her partner were also absolutely fantastic hosts: friendly, warm, thorough and best of all were happy to introduce us to their marvellous dogs. :)

Would definitely recommend this place if you like the outdoors and beautiful trees

    Susan2017-07-21T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing stay and the kids really enjoyed it. Suzanne was really hospitable and went out of her way to show the farm to the kids. Had activities ready for them and a hunt in the forest. Will definitely recommend and come again.

  • What a fantastic place, came here for some quiet time (and got plenty) and I would definitely return with the whole family. A superb place, lovely cabins and beyond my expectations - many thanks Leigh!

    Rob2017-07-30T00:00:00Z
  • The ideal place to unwind and relax with town just a walk away. Suitable for both couples and more so for children. Lovely surroundings and tasty eggs for sale went down a treat for breakfast.

    Sian2017-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic secluded stay. The kids loved staying in the woods surrounded by green, definitely recommend

    david2017-08-06T00:00:00Z
  • My partner and I stayed in Bothi for a long weekend in September. Everything was so great - pizza ovens, BBQ pits, a little shop for essentials. Plus we were allowed to bring our dog, Moose, along who very much enjoyed spending her evenings cuddled up by the log burner

    Rachel2017-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • Loved staying here great value for money. I loved sitting out on the decking in the morning enjoying the woodland and the amenities were close enough to the hut for no bathroom being an issue.

    Jonny2017-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely little cabin located amongst the trees. Particularly loved the fire pit under canopy of trees and making pizzas in the wood-fired oven. The showers and toilets were immaculate but don't be afraid of the compost loos which were also clean and fresh. They are building a tree house complex that we saw in construction and looked incredible. We loved the place and the hosts were really warm and welcoming. Definitely worth a visit nearby were the dams in the Elan valley, particularly the huge Claerwen dam where we saw Red Kites hovering overhead. We had a really good dinner at a tiny 16th pub called the Triangle Inn. The Dan-yr-ogof caves in the Brecon Beacons are an hour away, £15 entry, but caves are impressive . If you've got kids it's probably more worth it with the huge collection of GRP dinosaurs, petting zoo etc. In summary we had 3 great days and were sad to leave.

  • Myself and two motorbiking friends have just returned from a fabulous four night stay at Ian and Eironwy's place. He gave us a warm welcome, showed us around and left us to it though was close by to help us with anything we needed. The bungalow was larger than expected, nicely laid out, warm and light. It was very clean and had a good range of everyday essentials. It has good wifi, tv, entertainment and plenty of comfortable seating. I would happily recommend Ian's place for a great stay in Builth Wells.

    Cheryl2017-04-02T00:00:00Z
  • Ian is an excellent host with a fine accommodation. We comfortably stayed for 1 night in the pleasant Builth Wells. The couches are quite comfortable and the 3 bedrooms were perfect for 5 guests.

    Kevin2015-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • The house was described very accurately on the website and we (3 families with 2 kids) had a wonderful time. Ian and Eironwy were amazing hosts. They arranged additional beds for the kids as well at a short notice and provided us with some groceries (bread, milk, butter and many more) which was very thoughtful. They maintained the house in pristine condition, the house was very spacious and nicely decorated. The cricket ground opposite the house was indeed a large private garden where we played badminton and the kids played happily. It was just awesome! Overall, it felt like home away from home for all of us. Fantastic vacation! Builth Wells - we will be back soon for another holiday. See you very soon Ian and Eironwy. Thank you for having us :-)

Comfortable beds and a quiet neighborhood. Extras for breakfast in the morning were a nice touch. We'd love to stay in Builth Wells longer next time -- there always seems to be something going on!

  • The bungalow was fantastic, it had everything you could need. It was clean, very comfortable and everything was well thought out. We arrived quite late and after a hard emotional day it was lovely to walk into such a beautiful home. There was even milk in the fridge, tea bags, bread and butter, which was a very thoughtful and welcome sight (as I hadn't even given breakfast a thought!) We were gutted we only stayed the one night here ( as a stop off between house searching) Ian responded to all my messages quickly and was very friendly. I'd highly recommend staying here and if we don't move to the area we will definitely be back for a holiday!

The Summer House overlooks our lush and beautiful garden, which is part of a permaculture smallholding with honey bees. Builth Road Station is a couple of minutes walk away. We have free parking if you drive. Close by are beautiful walks and further afield are the Brecons and the Elan Valley. Builth Wells is within walking distance with most facilities you could need. The space is small and cosy but light and airy. Good for couples and solo adventurers.
The Summer House is perfect for a retreat although it is not totally secluded as we live on the out skirts of a small village which has some industry going on. But it feels very secluded and self contained in there with lovely views of the garden and surrounding mountains. It has a fitted carpet and curtains. There is a kettle and teas provided. The bed is a futon on the floor and it has a comfy sofa with cushions. The blankets and a down duvet will keep you warm but an electric heater is available if needed.
We are at the end of a small village (Builth Road). Our land runs away from the village and down to a small secluded stream. The locals are all friendly.
  • If you are looking for peace and tranquillity in a lovely spot - this is perfect. Lots of communication and information from Philippa following the initial booking and we were given a warm welcome upon arrival. A heavenly spot in this lovely part of mid Wales, very conveniently placed for Builth. The summer house is homely and comfortable with access to facilities in the main house. Thank you Philippa and Clive for your warmth and hospitality. Xx

  • When we arrived at Philippa and Clive's we well Warmley welcomed and they made it clear we were welcome and they were happy for us to be there. Philippa showed us round and made us feel settled. We unloaded the car and popped all our things in the summer house. It is nice and welcoming, friendly and comfy for two people to stop in. We chilled out and looked out onto the amazing garden and the beautiful scenery there is. There is a local pub just round the corner and another one just a short drive away or about a 15 minute walk away. We were very happy with the summer house and the facilities and how close it is to the shops, pubs and showground. They were both amazing hosts and both went that extra mile to make sure oue stay was perfect and to help us where ever they could. Very pleased.

  • This was my third trip this year to Julie's cabin and had a wonderful stay with three friends. I hope to go back again next spring.

  • Great location and lovely well equipped cabin. Good value for money. Host was brilliant at keeping in touch and sorted out an issue caused by a previous guest very speedily.

  • It was simply amazing. Six of us went including two kids. Everyone thought this is perhaps the best holiday we ever had. Thanks Julie for everything including the prompt answering whenever I had any problem. We would like to visit you again.

The address is 28, North Road, LD2 3BU. Do please read the "detailed description". There is ALWAYS NO SPACE IN THE HOUSE for the Royal Welsh Show!
PLEASE read all of these details, so you don't ask for what I haven't got! Two rooms available in our spacious 1935 home on the edge of Builth Wells, opposite the Royal Welsh Showground. The guest room has 2 singles and the spare room bunks and a single. It's gentle, nice and full of books and character. Builth has 2200 people, except during the Royal Welsh, when it has about 240,000 and becomes Abilene for a week. It is a traditional home - quiet, unspoilt. Solid fuel Rayburn, solar panels [in case the sun should ever shine again...], open fires, 5 bedrooms . Who lives here? My 91 year old Mum, Pixie, who's partially-sighted and can't be left on her own for very long: my 24 year old son, Rob, and myself [62]. [Rob's room has a shower & washbasin]; the spare room a small wash basin. There's a family bathroom and 3 separate loos. Downstairs, each of us 'has a room' so I don't have to watch her soaps or his films. Mine's peaceful and you're welcome to share it. There are BIG gardens, which are mostly lawn. I do my best to make sure that there's colour in it: I try to grow the vegetables we like in the orchard's raised beds and polytunnel. We're 5 mins' walk from the town and 10 mins' walk from events at the Showground - 15 from Penmaenau. The 4 days of the Royal Welsh is the only time when we're usually full to bursting a year in advance! Glorious countryside. The Abergwesyn to Tregaron road is the most beautiful road in Wales. Two hours from Oxwich Bay on the Gower [heaven - one of the 10 Best Beaches in the World!] - everywhere is within striking distance. 1.5 hours to the west coast, 2 hours to Chester etc. No traffic jams; friendly people who have time to talk. The record [Royal Welsh week] was 15 adults. Insane! PLEASE NOTE - I NEVER have spare round Royal Welsh time; I have people who fill the place every year. I've put £40, because it doesn't allow me to put what I want. It depends what time of year, who is already here, how many you are, whether you want a full cooked breakfast and so on. I usually say £40 for a single person; £60-80 for a twin with two people. Will discuss if you fancy staying. I am a warm, friendly hostess, a character - the world and his wife drains prismatically through here. I am NOT the world's greatest cook and we have to live frugally, but can rustle up a decent breakfast. You're at home, see?! You're welcome to cook yourself. Or just munch toast and marmalade or jam and drink copious cups of something hot. Loads of places to visit and places to eat etc - can always suggest where to go. I sing tenor with the Village Quire [we're good!] and you're welcome to come and listen. Contact me for more details! The house IS unique. It's not posh, but it has character. Me too!
Put "Builth Wells" into the usual search engine maps and read about the area. It's like living in the 1950s. Friendly; everybody knows each other. No crime to speak of. Very nice place to live.
  • Susie has lots of energy. She provides good service and company but is not intrusive. During various chats I was pleased to find a kindred spirit on many subjects, especially folk music. Her house is spacious and pleasant, and in a great spot: next to the River Wye, which you can walk along, and within a few hundred yards of Builth Wells town centre

  • Susie is a lovely host and made us feel very welcome, garage space for the bikes and a nice quiet area of what can be a very busy town.

  • A lovely, clean and comfortable room with a friendly host who was able to give some useful local knowledge but didn't mind the fact that, being a bit tired after the biking that day, I pretty much crashed out that night!

  • We had never used this site before and everywhere full because of Winter Fair on Show Ground. We struck lucky! Great central location, off road parking, very warm welcome, comfortable beds and beautiful house.

My home is centrally located in the busy market town of Builth Wells. Light and airy, the whole house is available for you to enjoy. A couple of minutes walk from the town facilities and only 10 minutes walk from the Royal Welsh Show Ground. There is limited availability but the property should be available for most weekends over the summer including RWAS show week.
The property is suitable for singles and couples, though the lounge could be used as additional bedroom with an airbed available.
  • Richards place is an ideal place to stay if you are visiting the show ground at Builth. We didn't spend much time at the house as we were very busy at the show but it was perfect for our requirements, particularly the lovely deep bath which was very welcome after a long day....Communication with Richard was good throughout and we would certainly stay again.

    A little house in town
    1 review
Our Kingfisher Room is upstairs, mainly white with splashes of colour and photos of kingfishers (by our wildlife relative www.pronature.co.uk). Enjoy a kingsize memory foam divan bed, the balcony, shower room, mirror wardrobes, TV and tea /coffee. We say that we have one of the best houses in Builth Wells (well we would wouldn't we!). We do not let the house, only rooms on a B&B basis. Our home is on the edge of town, set in its own grounds, with 70 yard drive and garden to the front and a rear garden looking onto a wood. We are 5 minutes walk to the town, 10 -15 minutes walk (or a few minutes drive on a clear road) to the Royal Welsh Agricultural Showground. (see the map) We bought the house in 2002 and have completely renovated and extended into a 5 bedroom home, four of which we offer for Bed and Breakfast. Much of the work on the house we have done ourselves and we have to admit, there is still cosmetic stuff needing to be done, mainly outside. Why come here?? Firstly we wish to give you good quality and service and to make you feel relaxed and at home. We have 4 bedrooms available. Please see the individual listings for booking or contact us for any more information. Prices rise at times of high demand during RWAS events but start at £70:00 per night for the twin room and £80:00 per night for a double ensuite. We charge £85:00 for the Twin Room and £100:00 for a double ensuite for the Royal Welsh Show and only take bookings for the full 4 nights of the Show THE GARDEN ROOM. This double ensuite room is on the ground floor and off the guest living room. It has an oak double bed with matching bedside cabinets and consort table. There are two leather chairs, an open wardrobe and full length mirror. French doors open to the patio and the room looks out onto the garden. THE KINGFISHER ROOM. This double ensuite room is on the first floor and to the rear of the house. Large windows overlook the rear garden and the room has its own balcony. The room is next to the main bathroom. The double bed has a memory foam mattress and the wardrobe has mirror doors. There are two cane seats. THE FRONT ROOM. The double ensuite room to the front of the house, overlooks the front garden and is next to the front shared balcony. The room has a leather double bed with pine bedside cabinets, two leather chairs, mirror wardrobe and pine chest of drawers.. THE TWIN ROOM. The twin room on the first floor, has twin metal beds, a hanging rail and shelves and a chest of drawers. There is a dedicated toilet and basin but no shower. Shower / bath facilities are in the main bathroom, just along the Hall. As all other rooms are ensuite, the bathroom tends to be used only by those in the twin room. ALL ROOMS have goose down duvets and good quality bed linen and mattresses with 19" TV's with DVD player and tea / coffee facilities. All ensuite rooms can take an additional single bed in place of the chairs to be used either as twin rooms or for three people at no extra cost. The shared breakfast room / living room is a large and light area exclusively for guests, with French doors opening onto the garden and patio. The breakfast area has oak tables with oak and leather dining chairs. The living room has two large leather settees, 42" TV with Sky, DVD player, music centre and IPod player. There is also a hole in the wall gas fire. All areas of the house have free WiFi. Just ask for the password. Rooms are painted in Farrow and Ball colours. Make yourself at home. We reserve to ourselves a private living room, bedroom and the kitchen. Otherwise guests have full access to the rest of the house and the outside. The main bathroom, breakfast / living room are obviously shared with other guests as are the outdoor sitting areas to the front and rear of the house with tables and chairs and a balcony on the first floor. Smokers are accepted but outside and uncovered as we don't want to encourage you! There is a ramp to the front door and a low sill on the front door. The ground floor is level but the ground floor ensuite room has a step in shower and the ensuite is not large enough for wheelchair access. Therefore, the accommodation is not suitable for anyone who is unable to take 3-4 weightbearing steps to transfer. Showers and bathroom do not currently have rails. A shower stool can be provided on request. You will be staying in our home but our job is to make you feel relaxed, supported, accepted and free to use the space you occupy (whether alone or shared with other guests). Ask us anything and we will try to answer positively. We will say if we can't help and try to find you someone who can"! Builth Wells is a small market town in mid Wales which sits where the Rivers Irfon and Wye join and is a great centre for walking, biking and golf The town has a cinema and live theatre with National Theatre satellite, a swimming pool, sports centre, bowls club and fabulous golf course. Our home is 10 minutes walk to the Royal Welsh Showground and 30 minutes drive to Hay on Wye, famous for its bookshops and international Literary Festival. Most places in Mid / South Wales are no more that one and half hours drive - cities, coasts, mountains and history and Hereford is one hour away. Builth Wells is served by buses and trains but it has to be said that public transport limits travel opportunities. Its best to have a car. We hope that you will feel at home with us using our exclusive guest bedroom, living room dining room and bathroom. In other words you can be here with your own space. We sometimes do provide an evening meal at additional charge but otherwise you are welcome to bring back a take away and we will provide the table. Likewise you are welcome to bring your own alcohol and we have the glasses. Otherwise, we can offer information about where to eat.
  • The hosts were extremely welcoming, accommodating & helpful. The room, and the property generally, are exactly as they seem from the pictures - nicer & more spacious even. Breakfast was great. A great stay!

  • Bob and Helen are lovely. We were made to feel very much at home and nothing was too much trouble. Super comfy bed, lovely shower, delicious breakfast. We could not have asked for more.

  • We really enjoyed our brief stay with Helen and Bob, They made us feel very welcome and treated us like royalty. Their accommodation is beautiful, clean and tidy. the beds are so comfortable and breakfasts are delicious with a wide variety. As we where going to a wedding in Caer Beris Manor house we needed somewhere close and found this place was perfect as it was a very short walk to the venue. Helen even offered to go out of her way and give my partner a lift to the venue. Both Helen and bob cant do enough for their guests. They really do go above and beyond to make your stay as comfortable as possible. we would defiantly recommend staying at their BnB it was well worth the money and we would defiantly stay here again!

  • Fabulous place!! Exceeded our expectations. Bob and Helen were exceptional hosts too. They went over and above what was required of them to ensure we had a brilliant stay! The accommodation is immaculate and comfortable. The locally sourced Breakfast and additional little food touches were very tasty :-) thank you both very much!

  • Excellent quiet and peaceful location. Very attentive, friendly hosts - nothing too much trouble. Outstanding room, very comfortable and all little details thought of e.g. Fresh milk in a flask for drinks! Drinks on arrival included the best carrot cake ever! Highly recommended.

  • I can't praise Bob and Helen's B&B and hospitality highly enough. We had a very enjoyable stay at their home for one evening and found our hosts to be incredibly welcoming, friendly and relaxed. We felt very at home in the property. The room itself is gorgeous - very light and airy, spacious with an extremely comfortable bed. The balcony is a wonderful addition and it's lovely to sit outside with a glass of wine during the evening. The house is in a very quiet area and you can hear only birdsong. Bob and Helen provide so many little extras in the room - chocolates, biscuits, teas, coffees, hot chocolate as well as a flask of milk - which are very thoughtful and appreciated. The room also has a great ensuite bathroom with shower. The house has great facilities as well. There is a guest lounge with Sky TV, big sofas, fire and some games as well as a lovely breakfast room. The breakfast itself was delicious - particularly the homemade marmalade and damson jam! - and Bob and Helen can't do enough to ensure you have a lovely stay. I would have absolutely no hesitation about returning or recommending the B&B to others. Bob and Helen are wonderful hosts and have a beautiful home. I only wish we could have stayed for longer!

Dating back over 200 years Dan-y-Castell is a three bedroom cottage of immense character built partially from the remains of Builth Castle. It is a luxurious and sympathetic chapel conversion and is close to art and culture, restaurants and dining, great views, and family-friendly activities. It offers a great base to explore Wales, the Welsh Marches, the Brecon Beacons, Hay on Wye and the Elan Valley. It is ideal for couples, solo adventurers, business travellers, and families (with kids).

Why come to Builth Wells?? As a Londoner, while I still love London and feel great being back there, I can think of nowhere better to be than in Builth Wells. The town is a small Mid Wales market town but +++. The Royal Welsh Agricultural Showground has everything from the annual Show itself, to the Winter Fair, Smallholders Show, Cob Sales, Rock and Gem Show, Rallies, International Antiques Show and much more. We also welcome "Bikers" for events every year. There are national Mountain Biking events. We are in a beautiful area of Wales, on the River Wye with its conjunction to the River Irfon. The Town Arts Centre (The Wyeside) has live theatre (including Comedy Club), cinema and satellite live performances via the National Theatre. We have a Swimming Pool and Leisure Centre and, Bowls Club. The town offers fantastic local facilities: Walking, Biking (mountain, road cycling and motor), Golf (we have many fantastic golf courses, one in town and many within easy access. Described locally as "golf for millionaires", they are beautiful courses with little or no waiting outside of competition times). There is excellent fishing on the Wye. We are on the Wye Walk and a short drive to the Elan Valley Reservoirs and Red Kite Feeding Station Builth Wells is in the centre of Wales and as such it is a fantastic base from which to discover Wales. We would be happy to advise you, even arrange your itinerary according to what you want to see/do. A day out can take you to Snowdonia, the west coast, Pembrokeshire and the south coast, Swansea, Cardiff, history, nature and everything that is Wales. Should you be really adventurous, you can spend a day over the border in England. Herefordshire, Worcestershire, Shropshire and Bristol are all a day trip. We can help you plan your itinerary, discover Wales and, if its relevant to you, help you research your roots in Wales.
